Speaker 1 (00:22):
Good to get everybody, and welcome to another edition of
Fire Up Florida. My name is Scott Morgan Roth, Motor City, Madmouth.
Wondering why I'm wearing the US at the tire tonight?
They're breaking ground out a new on campus stadium tomorrow
or on tampus in Tampa. That's why I'm wearing it.
My alma mater is breaking ground for the long awaited
on campus stadium. Aw Let me introduce a crew real quick,
(00:43):
have some great topics. Rod is live from the Florida
Panther National Predators game.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
All right, well, first of all, Okay, Mark the barber, who.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Also spends time with one hundred and eight Stitches Baseball Talk,
joins us tonight.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Will be on this show twice a month. Welcome back, Mark,
Thank you, my friend.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
It's so great to be here.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
I'm a huge hockey guy. Why you're on the show,
Glenday and of course my co host Rod Peterson.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Glad to have you on.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Rod, good to be here.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
All right, let's get to it.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
We're gonna talk about the Winnipeg Jets, got a little
bit of red wing stuff, Florida Panthers, and I have
a did you know.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
That will floor.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Rod, I always like to do this because this guy
handles it better than anybody I have ever handled him,
did you know? And I always like to if body
language meant anything. That's why these did you knows appear
on the Big Show. All right, Rodney. The Winnipeg Jets,
of the sixth team in NHL history, will win twelve
of their first thirteen games. Remember last year, Haul Maurice
(01:42):
said after winning the Stanley Cup, Okay, that he's hoping
for the Winni Big Jets to win one. Tell you
what the Winnipeg Jets are off to was roaring starter,
aren't they?
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Rod?
Speaker 5 (01:52):
They absolutely are best part of history. They're head coach
pied an NHL record when they started eight and old,
first time a coach you'd ever started with a new
team with a record as good as eight. Oh and
they're home tonight. They've got Colorado in there. It's if
you read the South Florida Tribune, it's a wonderful publication.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
You guys might have heard of it.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
There's a column in there this week's Cup written by
Rod Peterson that talked about the Winnipeg Jets. They're trying
to leave that club of teams that have never won
a Stanley Cup. That's an ugly club. And until bring
Florda Panthers were in that club. So we're all hoping
that Winnipeg does. But the pundits are saying they might
(02:36):
run out of they might esteem. All you can do
is win the games in front of you, and so
far they won more games than anybody else in the
NHL this year.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Rod, we'll turn it over to Mark that.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
On the power play. That should tell you all you
need to know. That should be the bottom line right there.
Those guys are flying high. They've always had the capability.
Connor helli buck if I'm correct on this is the
seventh all time winning a Skoalie and American history, So
he's playing out his butt as always. I mean, that's
just a good team from top to bottom. Now we
(03:11):
are talking the beginning of November. We will revisit in
March and see where they are once injuries hit. Do
they have the depth to keep this up? Who knows,
but boy, they always have a solid team, and they
seem to move on from the guys that caused a
little grief for anguish in that locker room. And that's
a feather in the cap of them.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well, let me tell you this.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Let me want to Winnipeg Jackson, I go, we all
go back to the World Hockey Association days, and they
and Bobby All and they had no problem winning championships
in the World Hockey Association. I wish once and for all,
whatever's left to the Arizona Coyotes organization, that they give
them the old logo back and the history and combine them.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I really do.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
I mean, obviously we all know the Arizona Coyotes were
sold to an ownership in Utah which is now the
Utah Hockey Club, to Charlotte Hornets. You need to bring
the logo and the history back to Winnipeg where it starts.
I'm glad that they had the Jet put a different logo,
but until that is complete, the Winnipeg jetse seems where
(04:13):
because of the old Atlanta Thrashers. That's all I'm gonna
say about. I wish him well, I'm gonna go back.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Draft.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Don't know what I just said. Paul Maurice said when
the Panthers won the Cup, he hopes Winnipeg does it. Well,
you know what kind of pull up for him? I really,
really really am so on this date, and that was yesterday,
by the way. November sixth, twenty fifteen, Henrik Zetterberg joined
Gordia how, Alex del Vechio, Steve Eiserman and Sergei Fedroff
as a fifth player in Red Wings history with three
(04:39):
hundred goals, five hundred sists, eight hundred points. That's the
unbelievable accomplishment. This time, we're going to go ahead and
start off.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
With the barber. Listen.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Henrid Setterberg has been a quintessential Detroit Red Wing. I mean,
he just falls right in line with all those guys.
What a player. But retired in twenty nineteen. I think
he probably still wanted to go on a bit more,
but uh, you know, three hundred and thirty seven goals
at six hundred and twenty three assists, nine hundred and
(05:09):
sixty points.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I mean you can't beat that.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
He's behind guys like Gordie how, Steve, Barzerman, del Vecchio,
l del Veque and and let'strom I mean, come on, man,
this is one of the this is one of the
more key players in the history of that place. They
need to make sure they put a nice little statue
of him up somewhere for what he's done for hockey
in Detroit all those years.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Good they have blows twenty two in the chat room.
Thank you very much. All right, Rob will turn over
to you.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Well, I'll tell you what he's coming in hot Mark.
I like this guy. I want to go. I am
I getting back to your goal ending can't hear you?
Speaker 4 (05:47):
Guys.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
I feel like that's a Joshua problem, not an US problem.
Oh Joshua saw you up on the press box rod.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, I'm here. No, the barber, he knows his stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Man.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
We're gonna come back on that. But if we're building
statues in on of Little Caesar's Arena one yet. I
haven't been there yet, but it's got you would know
Scott hasn't got one. I mean he's not the architect
at all now. But Zetterberg, Johann Hebberg obviously, Chris Osgood,
(06:18):
Pavel Datsuk in the home. It's a very long list
of guys you know that won those four Stanley Cups
in Detroit and I We have talked on this show
with wonderful Jy Corn about the legacy that Ken Holland
left behind for Stanley Cups. They're three in the pre
salary era one since and for whatever you know, people
(06:41):
say they're still cleaning up Ken Holland's mess in Detroit.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
I'm like, what mess for Stanley Cups?
Speaker 5 (06:47):
That just one of a lot of guys there that
you could build statues up. And the thing is with
iSER Man, he's trying to be the next one. I
keep hearing guys that they're coming, that they're coming, They're coming,
and they're coming. I haven't seen it yet. I have
not seen it yet from Detroit. I'm hoping they're at
team to take a step forward this year, but they
(07:07):
haven't been.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
I'll tell you what, Rob, They've got some really quality prospects.
They just need to know how to work in that
that veteran leadership with those guys, and they will take
that to the next level. There's no doubt in my mind.
I mean, I've watched them skate enough. That's a good,
good young team. They've just got to get that, you know,
you know how every locker room has that guy who's
going to push it forward. They've got that veteran leadership.
(07:30):
I've seen it with a lot of teams, and that's
what they're missing.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
I feel Yeah, but it's been a long time. Yeah,
you know, the question is when.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
But I just want to go back on the Scott
with something Mark set out goaltending and their special teams.
You specifically said the power play, but Mark, I couldn't
agree enough. I could have reached through this screen and
missed you because all I hear is five on five,
This five on five that I hear it like every day.
And I'll tell you something right now. And Scott's been
following hockey a long time too. We're playoff series. I'll
(08:01):
take the team with the best goaltending and the best
special teams over the one that's got the best five
on five stats of the regular ten times out of ten.
And I don't know, I don't know how about why
people aren't talking about that like they used to.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
We'll tell you.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Let me tell you something, Rod, when I see you
over at your studio the next time, I'll give you
a hug with that goaltending comment.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I will because I've.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Always had the premonition that a hot goaltender will carry
your right to a championship, and until somebody got the
guts that proved me wrong, it is what it is.
I'm not gonna get into all day long here about this,
but you're right, Rod, period, there's no way, fans or bucks.
You gotta have a hot goaltender to get you the
rest of away. Eiderman's statue will come well, the fact
(08:47):
that the matters are trying to build. I mean, Redlis
have lots of ways that they can get statues. The
only grill debate out there actually, now that you talk
about it, though, Rod, Let's not forget Scotty Bowman played
a large part of those Stanley Cups too. He's had
to break that long drought. Okay, so Scotty Bowman had
a lot to do with it. But when you look
at the Red Wings per se, okay, the way they've done,
(09:10):
They've gone eight years. They still have been to the
playoffs twenty five straight years in a row, which I
don't think anybody's gonna touch that record anymore. That may
be an unbreakable record, but Sergei Fedrof hasn't had a
number retired that. I don't see that anytime soon. Rod,
or Mark because he burned his bridges out the door
when he went to Anaheim, even though he's in the
(09:31):
Hockey Hall of Fame, that one I don't see getting
done right away isaman statue. Well, don't forget that he's
got seeve Wiserman drive right by Joe Louis Arena too,
and they haven't taken that down at all. But he'll
get his statue. But you guys make some excellent points.
I'm gonna go to josh for a quick second. He
made a comment which I really truly agree with. I
think Roberto Lulongo should get a statue outside of the
(09:52):
Panthers plate. This guy, to me, the fact that he's
got a Stanley Cup as an administrator.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Okay, that's one thing.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
The fact of the matter is he's and his number
one is retired raid of Terry Sausrock back in the day.
But Roberto Lawongo should have a statue. Iger you with
Joshua wholeheartedly about that that he should have his number retired.
But you guys make some great points. The Red Wings
will have to see if they've made enough moves in
the offseason to get it done. But a guy to
watch out for in gold pending is I believe Sebastian Kosa.
(10:24):
He's probably not. He's over in Grand Rapids now, but
I can see him in the Red Wings uniform by
the end of the year. The guy's making remarkable progress.
And that's the one guy that nobody has talked about,
but they will before the year is up. Any closing
thoughts on.
Speaker 5 (10:38):
This, Uh yeah, we talked about Cosa in the past.
I want to say that he is the next guy.
He's six foot five former Edmonton oil king Junior. I
broadcast this game one old junior's gold and the Loongo's.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Number is retired here.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
But there isn't a statue and Mike don Yebi be
Sergey Bbrovski.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
It's a statue before ROBERTA. Lu Wonko.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Well that's a great debate.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
So you know what, Ron, I want you to save that,
put that in your pocket and we'll bring Mark back
on maybe in a couple of weeks and talking about that.
That's a great day topic. So when you get an opportunity, Ron,
please text me that as a topic idea and we
will bring no more details.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
That's a great idea.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
At the end of the day, Rod, your jersey going
to the rafters is just as important as them peeling
the statue of you. And if they can do that
or they retired around the circle in the building. That
means everything to those guys, and I tip my hat
to anybody that gets to that point in their career.
Just real quick though, going back to Winnipeg, the power
playing everything. That's their third and fourth line drawing those
(11:42):
power plays too. They're pretty gritty down low, and you know,
I mean that is a recipe for success with those guys.
They're just fun. They're fun. They they scorched my Penguin
six to one like it wasn't even a game. Out
of the gates.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Everybody's speating.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
That's okay.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Obviously Rod's in at the game, so quick up they Rod,
They're up two to nothing.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Well, actually they went on.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
To defeat the Dallas starts doting nothing in the NHL
Global Series.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
This is my oh I told you so moment.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Remember last week where we were on the Rod Peterson Show, right,
and you said, didn't you take one in one that
you thought Dallas would get one and the Panthers would
get one.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Correct me if I'm.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Wrong, No, you swept it, Scott.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Okay, good, okay, not that I need my ego built,
but it isn't I told you so a moment.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Really, Yes, what do you think of it. Now.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
The only reason why I felt that they were actually
the rod going to sweep it is this is an opportunity,
okay for the Panthers to earn national respect around the world,
and they seize that opportunity beating an elite team and
the Western Conference, and they certainly more than capitalized on it.
That's all I'm going to say about it. And it
(12:55):
isn't about sticking in your arrow. Maybe it is a
little bit because we're brothers anyways, that we have the
right to do that after all the time we have
doing a lot of fun things on this broadcast. But really,
you know, the Florida Panthers right now. One in the
Global Series, they didn't look disappoint anybody whatsoever get to
the top caliber opponent that they could could see probably
(13:15):
later on should they advance to the Cup finals. So
any observations though, Ron about what you saw what that
Global series.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
Not really other than total domination. But you know what
they're doing in here tonight. It was two nothing, as
you said. When I sat down, I just heard the
horn off. I think it's now three nothing. I think
we might be watching the last game for Andrew Burnett,
the head coach of the Nashville Predators here tonight, former
pass coach. They're really struggling. They're dominating. The Panthers are
(13:45):
dominating Nashville. They're beating everybody. This will be their sixth
straight win tonight, guys, and Nashville's not putting up much
of a fight. It's funny see the barber nodding. I
don't know how you guys feel about this. I look
at Stamcos and I'm a huge fan, and I feel good, free,
and I put it on Twitter. I said the Predators
are getting dominated tonight port Stephen Stamkos. People are writing
me back already, going don't feel sorry for him. He's
(14:07):
got two steps and he's fine. But I'm like, this
is a team that doesn't care. And I Florida's making
him look bad, but I think anybody would make him
look bad.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Tonight.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Well, I read today Rod that Barry Tron said this
thing doesn't turn around real quick. This becomes a very
quick rebuilder. We talked about stamp Coll's return to Tampa
last week, so you know, I still think he should
have stayed there.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
It didn't work out. It is what it is. We're
not going to be We're not going to go ahead.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
A bridge under the water, water under the bridge, whatever
you want to say, but nevertheless, right Mark, Okay, give
me your thoughts about what the Panthers accomplished in Finland.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
Okay, their accomplishment in Finland was just to carry over
from what they were doing last year. They have again
talking about a recipe for success. They skate four lines
out there, they played, they play tough defense, and it
was early in the season. They caught a Dallas team
early in the season. I think Dallas is going to
be a contender out in the West. They have a
lot of a lot of talent. They are fast, and
(15:06):
they're big, and they're getting solid goaltending out there. So
that you know, those early season games, I don't really
read a whole lot into them. Talk to again, talk
to me down the road once they get their feet wet,
once we get through half of the season. Going back
to stamp Coast though, but I'm sorry, I want to
sway this just.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
For a second.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
I think they did the right thing letting him walk,
because Tampa is still staying relevant playing and by letting
him walk, they can stay relevant instead of investing a
bunch of money in him. Unlike the penguins who have
so much money tied up in a bunch of older guys.
You have got to cut your losses at some point
move on from your guys, no matter what they've given
(15:46):
you as a player. So yeah, that's my gist on
both of those.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Station break down, Candy Ambling, Candya.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
If you are listening to the South Florida Tribune YouTube channel,
if we published a book last November. It is called
Lessons from the Microphone, Tuning into the Enduring Wisdom of
Visionary Leaders. It is written by your host, Scott the
MotorCity Madmouth Morgan Roth. It's available in an Amazon, Barnes
and Noble, Kindle, Apple, and Google Books.
Speaker 7 (16:19):
There's a link on our website www dot South Florida
Tribune dot com where you can also find a link
to a merchandise store, and you can find the wonderful
writings of two of the gentlemen on this panel, Scott
and Rod.
Speaker 6 (16:35):
They both write for us and I take pictures, So
go check out our website. If you have any show
ideas or want to be a guest, email us Self
Florida Tribune at gmail dot com. Do you want to
advertise or sponsor a show call Scott nine five three
four four nine four one back to the show.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Thank you, Candy.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Two more things I want to get to item number one. Ron,
Now you can provide me with the Panthers update from Sunrise.
You talk about National Predators former coach Brunette. You're getting
some vibes now that this could be his last game.
Please elaborate.
Speaker 5 (17:09):
Oh, just the Predators are regarded as the biggest disappointment
in the NHL diason you said yourself, Scott, you saw
Barry Trotz saying that he's going to be spitting in
Rebuilt soon if they don't turn it around, and he
had flat out dominated by the Predators. Are the Panthers.
I don't need to tell you much more than that.
It's unfortunate. People seem to really like Andrew Brunett, but
(17:32):
winning Barry Trotz has to answer to his boss too,
the owners of the of the team. So that's why
I think you we could be seen his last game tonight.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Interesting, all right, Mark, some observations on that. I think
he's absolutely right.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
I was reading an article in The Athletic today that
talked about if Brunette doesn't get it together with this team.
He's gone, and you're right, Rod, it's probably going to
be tonight. I know Trot said that he's looking for
young prospects. He's willing to deal away other guys for
younger spec So it'll just be interesting to see how
many of those older guys that he is willing to
(18:06):
deal away and what he is looking for in return.
I don't You're right, it's the biggest disappointment in the league.
Leading into the season, I thought we were going to
really see something out of them. I thought they were
going to take it up a notch. But they're not
even close to where they should be able to perform at.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Okay, Well, you know, funny, I had a stimulating conversation
with Joshua Bursting today about this very topic, and here
what I told him. I told him the fact that
number one, Okay, the Panthers made the right move to
let Brunette go and bring on Paul Maurice because they
needed that veteran presence is what they did. And lo
(18:45):
and behold, that turned out to definitely become the case.
You know, let's not kill herself. I know josh likes
to contribute a lot in the chat room. But this
guy's a real steadfast hockey guy if I've ever seen one.
And I'm going to tell you right now that the
fact of the matter is is that when you talk
about in their entire perspective, you really do need a
(19:07):
veteran coach, especially when the going gets tough, You really
really do. And I think that's the biggest thing that
people have to understand that when you have a veteran
coach to lead a team through the tough times in
the playoffs, that Paul Maurice has more than done what
he's had to do, and I think it's really a
credit to him.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Anything you want to add to that, Barber, No, no,
I was just going to say.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
You know, at the end of the day, they can
give you all the tools you need, but if they
if you can't make them work the right way, it's irrelevant,
you know it just it doesn't matter. You can load
a team up to the nth degree if they don't
play the system you ask them to play, if they
don't stay healthy, if they don't buy in, it just
doesn't take you to where you need to be. And
in the professional ranks, they turn those guys over quick,
(19:59):
especially in the nh.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
My last words. I'm looking at the roster for the Predators.
I got it in front of me up in the
press box. I'm going Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchistough, Ryan o'reley,
Roman Yosi, uc SARS isn't in gold, but it doesn't
really matter, Luke Shan on the back end. They got talent,
not a bad team. So what happens when a talented
(20:25):
team doesn't win? So again, don't be surprising. And we
have some news there tonight.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Okay, we'll look forward to those. All right, I have
an interesting topic I actually have time to get to.
In their last eight games, the Boston Bruins have been
shut out three times and have recorded a shutout of
their own two times. Now three or two in poker
equals a full house. But we got five shutouts in
the last eight games. All right, Barbra, we're starting off
with you on this. Some thoughts about the fact that
(20:53):
the Bruins have been shut out three times and we're
recorded to.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Feast famine and that's the way they are this year
at this point. You know, it's early in the season again.
I mean I I just struggle with this part of
the season because a lot of people don't. I mean,
I know we're in November, but a lot of people
have only played eight, nine, maybe ten games, and some
of their veterans barely played in the preseason at all.
(21:20):
So it's going to be interesting to see how this
team comes together, because that's another team that the expectations
are sky high for coming back from where they were
last year. Yet they got bumped off again, which I
called that one. By the way, Fellas I saw the
writing on the wall.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
You know, I don't put too much stock in that.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
I really don't feaster or famine I do.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I'm a stats guy. I'm a journalist. If there's a
step that I can put out there that makes any
sense and we can talk about it.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Guess what we talked? All right? Rod? What do you think?
Pretty unusual? Notice, isn't that?
Speaker 5 (21:55):
I think Boston Bruins are one of many teams that
are hot and cold this year, Bama hotter cold, whoever
you want to say it. The Barber's right, but this
not forget that they started out Opening night and six
two lost to these Florida Panthers, These Boston Bruins, and
Jeremy Swayman didn't even play that night, Jeremy Swayman got
(22:18):
the bag. I know they use it in football terms,
I'll use it in hockey terms. He got us eight
by eight about sixty six million dollars. Eight track is
a living up to it. You know, if you look
at the three shutouts three against two four, they've been
getting better in that. So Swayman's settling in. I think
(22:39):
the Bruins are settling in, but I'm not sure. I mean,
in the latest column I rote for you, Scott, I
talked about the firing odds and Jim Montgomery is on
the list. As a matter of fact. Number one is Pittsburg,
your guy Barber, Mike Sullivan. Number two is Jim Montgomery
and Boston, and number three is Derek Lalan with your
Red Wings Edinburgh is Andrew Burnette, the guy that we're
(23:02):
talking to about here tonight. So anyways, with the Bruins
with a shutout, feaster, famine, hot and cold, that's just
the way this year.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
So it's a quirky stat for sure.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Well that's why we had it.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Okay, we'd like to be different than any other hockey
show because yours truly, who, by the way, had Kenny
Albert to the NHL analyst talked to us for twenty
five minutes on these Motor City mad Moles show earlier
in the week. You know, we try to get the
best guess that we can, will you really? Since Ron
has joined the company, we have definitely picked up our
focus on hockey. But yeah, Ron, I think we've talked
about the fact that Derry Derrick Goulalan of the Red
(23:35):
Wings could be there's a big microscope. And by the way,
there's a guy named Joel Quinble looking for a job,
and once upon a time he used to coach to
the Panthers, and if and it would be situation, I'd love.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
To see him go with the Wings.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Is he obviously coaching winsor if that was a full
circle there thing, that's fine. Also, Bob Buffner, I believe
his name, is an assistant coach with the Detroit Redvenus.
All right, I've got to did you know that will
blow Rod Peterson away? There is no way he will
get this. I guarantee I would be very curious to
see what his facial reaction is because this guy, to
(24:10):
me is my brother from another mother, and I always
enjoy looking for certain things to teach his man so
he can bolster his Cats and Bolt podcasts. Let alone
a Rod Peterson show for which I've been against on
a couple of times, and Rod and his people there
have treated me great. I can't thank you enough for
bringing me on that show. But here you go, ride,
you're ready for it, lay it on me.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Okay. Did you know who is the only hockey player
in the Baseball Hall of Fame?
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Tom Glavin.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
That's a good guess. What about you? Mark?
Speaker 4 (24:43):
Got you?
Speaker 1 (24:44):
I would have said, Derek Sanderson Jeter. Derek Sanderson Jeter.
Remember once upon a time there was a Derek Sanderson
to play.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
For the Is that Derek Jeter's middle name?
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Okay, well, of course I would have never got that,
I know, but.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
I'll send it to you just so you have it.
I thought it was fun when I saw it. I
like to break stuff out of here. I really think
that's really good stuff. I'm gonna send it to you, Rod,
just as a little souvenir that your publisher is capable
of anything. But I just thought it would be a
lot of fun to bring up Derek Sanderson, who played,
as we know, for the Boston Bruins back in the seventies.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Is Derek Peter not from Detroit though, Well.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
It's actually from Kalamazoo.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
Oh okay, Michigan, Michigan, Okay, Michigan. But why is this
middle name Sanderson?
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
I didn't go that far to find out why was Sanderson.
I just looked for Derek Sanderson Jeter. So I just
saw that information without the background. Okay, I didn't need
to give you the background. Oh, I'm responsible for the
names two three of them. I got two hashtags out
of one idea Derek Jeter, Derek Sanderson, and I got
you again, right, Well, I told you there's.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
No way that I could have known that, and I
don't really want to know it either.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
So it's okay, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
But the fact of the matter is because it's a
barber's first go around on the show, at least the
one thing about Rod And I tell you what I
like about this guy. You can give him all these
little curve balls all day long and he stands there
and takes them like a cotton pick and pro he
really is great. I've never seen a guy more humble
and fun the next guy.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
But I do to you, so it works it's okay.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Yeah, I know you all that's around with me to
tell I get it. I really really get it, you know.
But the fact of the matter is you can mess
with me, and I'm always looking miss with you. That's
why we have a lot of fun here on Fire
Up Florida, which I'm in my loude who cares get
me the thumbs up because they got a good tree
from mirror and you're gonna see the treats from on
twice a month here on the South Florida Tribune Broadcasting Network.
(26:54):
Let alone the fact that Rod Peters in his life
from sun Rise Florida covering the Florida Panthers that night Predators. Okay,
So with that said, and he closing talks Barber about
what you saw with your first act with mister Canadian.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Yeah, look, this was a fantastic show to be on.
I'm looking forward to the next go around. Can't wait
to hear the topics we tackle. Like I said, I'm
a hockey guy through and through. Football's number one, but
hockey's one A.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
So you know, yeah, well, don't forget the fact that
you appear on the baseball show, and that's what So
this guy here by the way to see no Rod,
he's on baseball twice a month, and he's on our
show twice a month, which is why we moved the
starting time up. And I actually like this eight o'clock
timeframe because I want to lead into our next show
coming up.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Afterwards.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
We have fire but Candy I Bling, Jeremy Bulrick, and
Ralph Williams Oh follow us immediately afterwards. So with that said, Rod,
you're gonna let everybody know how they can get a
hold of you. And I'm gonna tell you, folks, before
he gets a chance to do that, please go to
the South Florida Tribute website. This guy writes a phenomenal story.
Or in the eyes of Dick By tell Rod Peterson's
(27:59):

I sent in addition to what you're doing with the
