Fifth Stake Podcast. Thank you man for taking some time
out of your busy schedule to hop on here and
talk with us.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Appreciate your visit Elijah having me, I appreciate you the introduction.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Man, for sure, for sure, Man, I guess just off top,
you know, health wise for you. You know, how are you,
how are you feeling right now? How is the knee
and just how how ready are you for the for
the season to go?

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Man? Hey man, I'm I'm I'm ready for the season.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Like I'm overly confident in my leg man, because the
work I put in all I'll break for like eight
months eight month straight man, I put in work, So
I'm overly confident in my knee. Man. Thank you to
my my training staff, mister Chris lind and his staff.
They helped me get back right man, I'm overly confident.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I'm ready.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
When was those restrictions lifted for you for you to
be able to complete to play completely.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Like in the weight room and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
Yeah, like when I first first when I got hurt,
it came back and I was able like to walk
and all that I wouldn't. I was just doing straight
up about it, like straight up about the team had
a little body lifts every day.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I just do upper body and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
But and then I just I do like as a
warm up, just single like by the way, squats.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Man, I don't know if we actually like talked about it,
where it happened at for you?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Where was the injury? How did how did that happen?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
What was it? Like instantly like you knew, like, man,
I'd have missed my knee up real man, Like what
was that? I mean?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
It was the week of South Alabama, man, on a Tuesday.
It was doing the one on one period, uh, one
of my last majority.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
He ran over.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
I tried to undercut it, tangled up with his sheet truck,
and my knee hype extended, like it hit the ground
straight and my knee I pushed back hype extended.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Right right away.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
I knew something was wrong because I yell and everybody
knew something wrong, But I didn't know I was gonna
have to get surge you, So I was just praying
out I didn't have to get served. But long story short,
I have to get surgery. I found out to something
like else.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, dang man, I mean kind of going off of
it too.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
How difficult is that because like people, especially like fans
that don't understand it, Like, how difficult is that when
you feel like you're having a really good year, you're
at a good spot in the season, y'all are playing
really well all those things like that, and for an
injury like that to happen, how did they kind of
weigh on you mentally to kind of have to deal
with that at that time period.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
I mean it's hard, man, because, like like you said,
I was having one of one of my best seasons
since you were, since I been here, and just for
to get took away like that, and the staff of
a finger if it was winning and stuff, it just
got took away like that. I mean it was hard, man,
something to put you in a dark spot. But it
was hard, Bro. I just I just knew I was

(03:51):
I had another season coming back, and I was gonna
put that work in to get back on the field,
and that's what I did.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
It was hard to bro. It was hard.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
You depressed and all that scene your guys out there
making plays and know you should be out there with
them doing the same. It was hard, But those guys
kept me up, kept me uplifted, and I'm back.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Speaking of being back, man, you said you had another year.
I mean outside of the ball game, you guys had
a chance to host the conference championship and had a
chance to host it, and I know you was on
the sideline right there, but you got another swing game
after that lost, Like how much has that.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Motivated to you?

Speaker 5 (04:26):
After the season and you rehabbing and trying to get
back to that that peak of get hosted US Championship.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
I mean when when I was in rehab it just
that just gave me some more motivation to keep going
because like we we like you said, we hosted it,
We hosted the conference championship, and we had a ball
game we lost that too. It's just like shit, we
was that close and we just ain't finishing. So that's
that's still stuck with me, and it stuck with some
of the guys on the team, like we need to
close that gap. We need to like we still we're

(04:54):
still hungry, Like we're still trying to get that get
back to host it and finished and win them games.
So that's that's that's in the back of my head
right now. They keep me going.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Let's let's take a step back. Obviously, the nickname landlord man,
you got it up. You wear it there on your
on your wrists, that's there on your belt and all that.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Where did that nickname come from?

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (05:18):
And how did you kind of adapt that as as
your persona.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
So to speak.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Man, it's crazy, bro, I always get this question right.
It's so crazy. But like about about two years ago,
me and some of the guys, we just we summer
train and workouts, but we we put some extra work
in in the end of like while while we're working out, see,
I'm just thinking, like I need something so I could
call myself. This is going on while we're working out,

(05:42):
So I'm just thinking, man, like what's a good nickname?
Because some people know they got nicknames they know for
around the world, around the league and stuff. So I'm like,
what's a good nickname? So boom, landlord come across my mind.
So I'm like, dang, that might be fire landlord. While
we're working out, I'm just thinking who has that name?

(06:03):
So nobody. So I'm like, all right, But as a landlord,
you know, if you don't pay your rent and all that,
you get evicted, landlord gonna be on you, like you
gotta pay this, you gotta pay that, He's gonna be
on your trail. So I reversed it and put it
in football term, like since I'm the landlord, rent do
every game like rent do all day every day, you're

(06:25):
gonna you're gonna see me for four quarters. I'm gonna
be gonna be on your behind for full quarters straight.
So that's that's kind of what Landlord came from. Like,
you gotta see me for full quarters.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Rent do, I'm on you, Rent Do, I'm on your
own game. Yeah, that's how it came about. Man, Go
get you a n I L. Deal with that. Hold on,
Go to a Parker complex and get you in in
I L and that be hall and I ain't gonna
cap crazy, but getting into it.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Man, that you who are some of the guys you
looked up to, NFL Pro College that you looked up to,
that you modeled your game.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Uh, I look up to I'm out of my game
after Camp Chancellor Dorwyn James and Jayalen Ramson. Man, those
guys like especially camp chances. I like the physicality of it. Man,
like the physicality of football. I like the I like
the bag of the day football. And you don't get
no targeting and all that. Man, that's my kind of play.
That physicality, the smart take charge out there. Man, those

(07:21):
guys all got some comedy scrapty physical take charge to
those three.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
How much does your upbringing from the city of New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
How much does that kind of come from that, like
your style, your mentality and all those things like that.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I've been around a lot of.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Dudes that are from the city, so like how much
does that play into being the type of player that
you were? And then like looking at those players like
you said, Cam Chancellor, Derwin James and kind of modeling
your game after that.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, I mean, growing up in New Orleans is tough man.
It's tough. Like, you gotta be tough growing up in
New Orleans.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
You go outside, you playing football, Moms you go outside,
Moms at work. While you outside played football, you inside,
you gotta be tough man, Like before you probably even
play football. You might get in a fight out there
before you even play. So you gotta be tough man.
Mom's going to work making sure everything everything, put food
on the table, like while you're going while she going,
you out there playing, and uh, you gotta be tough, bro.

(08:19):
They children in New Orleans, they're gonna talk about you
for just just for being you ain't gonna talk about you.
So you gotta be confident. So that's that's why I
get that tough confident Police style for me. You just
gotta be tough growing up in the city.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Dang man, I mean speaking from the city. Man, my
favorite safety came from there and read I thought you
was going.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
I thought she was gonna man.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Man, Yeah, I look at the man. He wanted the
great safe. I'm out of my game after him too.
He's smart back there, so yeah, he ain't no.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Getting back to it. I mean to your team.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Deep is a back room looking a little bit different,
a little bit different than when. Is there anybody that
impressed you from camp and then then going into practices
the fall practicing?

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Yeah, man, I got a couple of guys that really
impressed me. Man, I got we We brought in the
freshman Brent Gordon from Sicilia down the road. He impressed me. Man,
he pretty good, physical all player Cley Bigger h We
had a transfer d Lineman, My dude, James Crowder.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
That's he impressed me.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
We got another transfer, uh, Trey Thomas. Yeah, he from
I think I forgot. I want to see how I
don't know what what college it was, but he a
dog man and on the offensive side, I see Walker Howard.
Uh six man, we got a big receiver six Sheldon Sampson. Man,
those guys imprisonment a lot for all campus. Then we

(09:53):
got uh my bad, we got caught back. He reminded
me of key uh Key key Ma from last year
also with three Thompson two.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah, man, you just brought up Key on it. That
kind of helps me to pivot. I mean, shoot, he
that man is more than likely gonna make the roster
with what he's been doing in the preseason. Like how
much does that do you take a sense of pride
in it? Knowing like man like he after the game,
I think it was him, Trey Amos, Percy, Butler Andre,

(10:23):
they all took a picture together. Like when you see
that guys that you were in the locker room with
and you like, man, like, these are dudes that I
was right alongside with. How much does that inspire you
to like you should?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Man?

Speaker 3 (10:33):
I was, I was in the room in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
He ruined them, practice with them, I seen them at
their highest they lord, So like seeing them take a
picture was kind of crazy for me. It felt like
a dream almost, because like I was just with them,
Like it just gave me more motivation, like I could
do the same thing. So seeing that Man, that really
brought Jordan my heart knowing not to do the same thing. Man,
those guys just by me at an all time high.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Man, that was. That was pretty impressible.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
But you also have like the other guys I saw
you when he was a Trade I know he just
mentioned it. What was that relationship like with Trade and
those guys, I.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Mean, ship, we all got something come defensive back. I
came in with trays Key, cool dude, my dog man.
We clear defense. So we always we always talked like
we were locked in and we still live locked into
the day.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
And ain't gonna never change for sure.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Man, When when you think about being a defensive back,
what is it that goes into that mentality when you're
out there on the field, Like obviously you know there
are moments where you have a big play. You know
you get to celebrate, but then the next play they
can bomb over your head and you know, give you
give up a touchdown? What type of mentality do you
have to have to be a defensive back, whether that's

(11:54):
a corner or safety.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I mean it's like you gotta have a short term
memory because like football, play fast, you go, you get bomb. Okay,
next player you can't. You can't let that one play linger, Man,
you can't let the linger. Like, because you let that linger,
you're gonna have a bad game the whole game. Don't
let one play mess up your whole game. You got
multiple both players that's gonna come. So the decent things

(12:16):
you gotta have. That swag of that confidence, man, just
that short term memory lost quick, just get back on it.
You know, you know what you messed up on, so
just go correct. The next play you got, you're gonna
have more opportunities, So you do that.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
You got dog, You got some guys on your team
that could get by you. Man. You got Robbie Williams. No,
I don't know if they don't know they did though.
What you got.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
You gotta say.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
I'm saying, what is that receiver court looking like? You know,
if they go get some DB's this year, I mean ship,
I love our code this year.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
Man. We got we got speed, we got analyticsm and
we got we got that Like it's crazy. All those
guys can do do different things. Man. We got speed,
we got guys with hands, big guys run over you.
We got all type and stuff. So I'm pretty impressive.
Shiver cool they showed me at all campus stuff, So
I'm I'm overly confident to this guy for sure.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
How much does that help, like overall for the team,
when you guys have so much depth at different positions,
Like it's not just this corner is getting fifty sixty
snaps a game, Like it's you almost splitting a little bit.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
You got a safety that can come in and rotate.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
You got a receiver you can put three different ones
out there every drive and stuff, Like how much does
that help for y'all as far as you know, staying healthy,
being able to give defenses something that they can't really
game plan for on a consistent basis.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
How much does that help?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I mean it helps a lot because, like you say,
we we got we got dubb Those guys know the
expectation like if you come in is the only expectation
is great and it's so like we can do it all.
So that's all I see right now.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
Going back to your game, Are you somebody that that
that's more that you want to be more of a
ball hawk or like you really take more pride in
laying somebody else and standing over.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
I mean, yeah, I like I like laying somebody out
the stand on them, because like you do, when you
do that, it's gonna strike field. And then you can
just go get the bull because next time they come through,
they're gonna be timid, they're gonna be scared. Then you
just go get the bull. But I try to, I'd
most likely try to be all around. Man.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
It's just there'll be one dimensional to be all around.
You can't. They can't be all around facts.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
I guess it's kind of a two part question. You know,
the safeties, y'all are the back end of the defense.
You almost like the.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Quarterback of everything because everything goes together. You know, the
front is called the linebackers are shifting and things like that.
But y'all are making sure like, hey, if we ain't
cover four, you need to know you got a quarter
of the field, I got a quarter whatever.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
All those things like that.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
How have you kind of laid more into understanding the
playbook well enough to where when y'all are out there,
y'all are in sync? And then also like, how do
you build off of being a vocal leader to make
sure everybody knows like, this is the play this is
the coverage we're doing, this is how we're gonna you know,
take care of things out of here.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
That that comes with reps man and this this is
our second year the defense. And also like we have
we have the defensive coordinator coach Goto not me man
he in the defensive back the Saintans corners met so
like the safety, we have no choice but the communicate.
So like you got we gotta be the quarterback back
then man the defeni coordinator, they not room and he

(15:31):
expects us to communicate over the communicate because you don't
communicate one person mess up with please that could be
six points and like you can't say nah nah running
back now them six points gonna be on that board.
So like you gotta over to communicate and the cold
confidence and stuff. So that's that's why I like to
take charge back there and talk to the guys.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Make sure you're on the same page.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
What is like, what is he like in the meeting
rooms on the field, I mean, so that's what he
a funny man, but like he's serious, Like he's a
real serious calculates guy. Like he cracked a joke but
it's in a serious man.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
But he real man.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
He a good dude, great, great defentive coordinator man, probably
one of the best I've been around.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Yeah, he's a great dude. Man.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
So how you how you know when he's serious or
he's playing, cause he goes, he goes crack it, he
gonna crack a little laugh, Like I don't look, bro,
I just I know, Bro, I know guy.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
I take that back, he's no cracking little laugh. He
don't laugh.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
He did a little smirk.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Yeah, Yeah, that's what it man.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Now.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
I remember when he first came in last year and
he got up there on report day and he said
that the defense is about uh being great. No black,
no white, all great, Like there's there's there's no confusions.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
That's my favorite saying.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
He always said black white, no great, black white a
great And that always stuck with me because, like that's true.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
You got gree in you some gonna mess up. You
don't need no gree Yeah. How does that look for y'all?

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Like on a day to day basis in the facility
is how does it look in the meeting room, on
the practice field, even in the games.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
What does that look like? That's saying.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
I mean, I mean with coach Goto, he holds us
to a high standard, like if you if you don't,
if you don't, if you don't what I'm trying to say,
if you don't, if you ain't getting to that standard,
like you're just not gonna play.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Like it's just that simple.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
I mean, I want to have a little fun with you.
Man or dad, Say how you can get in the
game for one play? What position you're creaking, what position
you're the play and what you and what you're gonna do.
I'm going to quarterback, Oh real, send everybody on a goal.

(17:57):
I'm taking off up the middle. It off, quarterback, took
the ball every play. Let me get that man getting
in the wildcad and call him a draw.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
Let me get that.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Quarterback power. Yeah, facts, facts, I guess man. As you're
continuing to prepare, you guys have finished camp up. It's
it's game week now. As this episode is dropping, talk
about the preparation that you do personally, Like, all right,
they send the footage over to y'all. I don't know

(18:31):
if y'all have a huddle or anything like that or
what y'all use to drop, Uh, practice footage and game
film and all that.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
You get it.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
You're scouting whoever your opponent is. So this week is
gonna be Rice. What's the first thing that you're looking
at whenever you popping the tape on the first thing
I'm looking at as a safety, I'm I'm gonna watch
that quarterback. I'm gonna see what the old alignment doing.
See if the quarterback just staring down routes, See if
the old line of giving up run pass by, how
they just coming off the all this stuff. So I'm

(19:01):
watching that and they our guys over here, they do
a good job setting the film up for us, like
first and second down, what they do, third and long,
third and short, what players we're gonna get and stuff.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
So I just those things I look for.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
I look for the receivers, see if they coming out
with the same majorisms and stuff.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
So those things out look at. And then going back
to the office side of the ball. We just talked
to Walker Howard. What is what do you think he
brings to this team?

Speaker 4 (19:31):
I mean Walkerhowe he brings confidence, man like, he's always
confident out there. He can put the ball in the box.
He exposive player man. He liked to show his own off.
He's a good dude and he could he could run
the ball to as well. So he brings that confidence
and the hypeness. He brings the energy to the team.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
So I like the walker. How hold on? Hold up
before you because you talked about he could run the ball.
Was your surprised? I was surprised. What are you surprised
he was live in the screen game?

Speaker 4 (19:59):
No, because I know Iro because last year, last year
it was live. But I'd be liking with a quarterback
line because you could never touch them and they be
telling them this, this is a catch. Nah, but you sack,
so like I like quarterback lines.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Man, he pulled it on one of his own reasons
that he had in the spring game, and I was like,
I knew Walker cau scoot boy.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
He was moving when he turned the corner on one
of the players. Man. Yeah, man.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
I guess when you look at what you guys have overall,
first of all, is the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
What can this unit really do?

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Like?

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Is it focused more on y'all creating more turnovers? Is
it getting more sacks?

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Like?

Speaker 1 (20:42):
What is it that you guys really can do this year?
That's more different about any other defensive unit that you've
been a part of.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
I mean, it's really more more of them turnolds.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Man.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
We got to get them turnos.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Because you get turnolds, you're gonna put teams in a
bad spot, put him in adversity conditions, so like I
mean average conditions. So like it's really turning that ball over.
We're gonna get some turnovers this year, Man, strip outs.
Had the balls picked that we that we're trying to do. Man,
put teams in average conditions to well, we could double up,
go up two points on, go up to possessions on

(21:17):
the clock three, just keep getting turnover.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
That's the that's the point of emphasis for for y'all.
That's what you're saying.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
I mean the point our is just like eleven has
to the ball, man, like everybody in the same piece.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Eleven has physical smart it's flying around.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Man.

Speaker 5 (21:41):
Because I was gonna asker that question basically, like what
do you feel like I know last year was the
injuries and stuff like that, But what do you feel
like it's gonna take for you gotta get over the hall,
actually win the sum Up Championship and possibly get into
a college player.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
I mean, it's gonna take us all being together and
I'm into a complete focus like doing them hard times
and the leaguers down alone. We gotta just focus up more, man,
focus up, and don't don't take nothing for granted.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
You guys got the newly renovated stadium that y'all are
gonna get a chance to play in August thirtieth. Man,
I mean it's just a couple of days away. Now,
y'all got a chance to tour the facility and everything.
Obviously y'all not a part of anything like that, but
just like knowing something is new. It's kind of like
Christmas Day, you got a new toy that you get
to unwrap. How exciting is that gonna be when y'all

(22:34):
are able to run out of the smoke and break
the banner on August thirty, I mean.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
That's gonna feel good.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Man. Like the stadium, it looks great. We we had
tour did the other day, Like it looked great in
the inside. So it's like knowing you have that. We
got we got that, so you know we gotta go
out there and clear hard. Man. We gotta go out there. Man,
I'm happy. An hour later, the Lords did that fus Man.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
That looks good. I can't wait to play it. Speaking
of that game. I know that's big for you, But
what what other games we have? Circle on the caount.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
I got two games circuit but really all of them,
but I got two games I really won't play. I
got a game our second games versus McNeice play because
my part play defense over there my club price, So
I'm willing to play that game. Well, I'm happy to
play that game. And then obviously we got Missouri. That's
the biggest game on our schedule and it's on TV show.

(23:30):
I'm trying to show show the world that I can
play at that level and it's just play.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
See, I was I was thinking you.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
I mean, I know, Marshall, not Circle no more because
the whole herd what's happing missed? Yeah, I'm thinking I'm
thinking you was gonna say something. Yes, I think you
you won't get there. Hey, I ain't forget about this
because I ain't gonna play them.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
So like.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
They for sure we got we gotta get that bad
why that's why our homecoming game? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's funny. Man, that's funny.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
You talked about that Missouri game, man, Like, uh talk
a little bit about how like getting big wins like
that can help you'all so much in terms of like
the resume building of the college football playoffs, because you know,
when you look at a strength schedule and you know,
being the highest ranked group of five team when it

(24:25):
comes to the CFP rankings and all that stuff. How
much does a game like that on your schedule, being
able to go in there and whether it's winning it
or you know, showing that you can compete with the
SEC team, how much does then help you guys in
building the resume.

Speaker 4 (24:40):
I mean that helps a lot, man, knowing you got
the college playoffs at risk, so you're gonna get everybody
best best for you're gonna get everybody best every game.
So like winning the one of those big games really
help us, especially coming from the G five, man. So
we were going there with the mindset like we have
to win like there's no nothing else, like we gotta
win this, so that and against once, like once we

(25:02):
get those big wins to give us more.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Yeah, it's just it's just gonna help us for the
rest of the season.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
Man.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Do you with that being said, like college football is
at an evil level playground down where everything that's going
on and how much the last.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
Yeah, absolutely, man, I think it's equal because now, like
I said, you're gonna get everybody best play every day,
so like you can't, you can't.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Let up out the gas. So I'm happy college.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Uh added the playoffs and all the G five schools,
the best G five schools get a spot in that.
So I'm happy they did that because it's way more
competitive now. It makes you, it makes everybody want to,
you know, go out there and do their best. So
I'm happy they did that.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Got a couple of fans submitted questions for you. The
first one, Uh, what is the strongest part of the
defense from what you've seen?

Speaker 3 (25:51):
The strongest part of the defense?

Speaker 4 (25:54):
I think I'm gonna say our D line because I'm
gonna say our D line because that's we got. We got,
we got some old guys in there that that play experience.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say the D line.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
It's interesting, man, coming from a dB.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
I thought it's the dvs.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Man. Now he said the D line. I like that.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
That's too.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
What's been the most memorable play that you've made in
your collegiate career? Oh?

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Oh yeah, uh our bowl game New Orleans Bowl Man.
We played.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
The team that was was the Jacksonville State I think
it Wasville State.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Man.

Speaker 4 (26:33):
I called a pick six man ran it back, and
it was it was so crazy because like my whole
family was in Uh. I had people from high school,
teachers and stuff on the sideline in the stags, and
like when I caught the pick man, I ran ran
it back. I ran to the where my people was
that throughout one of the years and it was just crazy.
Bro I was tired as him. Everybody in my helmet. Man,

(26:56):
I'm tired. I'm trying to sit down. So that was
that was the most memorable play right there.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Uh. Lace fan submitted question, Uh, what is your favorite uniform? Comebo?

Speaker 1 (27:06):
I know offline we were talking about all the different
ones that y'all had sporting them in the photo shooting stuff.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Which one are you ready to wear the most?

Speaker 4 (27:16):
I'm really than well the new jerseys, but my favorite
one is the throwback and it got cages across the
chest with the with the white collar man the red top,
the white bottom right whatever. I love him and they
go throw back on the helmet and the logos. So
like that's what that's my favorite comedy. Yeah, I like it.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Man, y'all.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Y'all got some sweet units for real, like when they
especially like on the on the on the night game
and all this stuff, or like a mid day game
or something like that when the sun is all the
way out, like they hit.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Oh yeah, they be hit different little cap Oh god.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
I guess the last question I got for you, man,
you know what kind of personal goals do you have
set out for yourself? And then to add to then
how good can this team really be this year?

Speaker 4 (28:05):
I mean some personal goals I have for myself is
obstually finishing that they'll finishing getting the first team conference.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
I couldn't do that last year because I got hurt.
But I won't do that, man, I won't. I'm and
when gym Thorpe got that, got that Max, it's the
I think it's called Max. Man.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
I just won't be first team on comfort the best safety,
be one of the top safeties in the country. Man, Like,
that's that's be the top safety in the country if
you if you do that, everything else gonna fall in line.
But the second part of this christ, I feel like
this team we could we could do the same thing
we did last year. Man, But I lose the last
two games of championship, we're gonna we're gonna host it.

(28:49):
We're gonna win it, win the bowl game. So I
feel like we got we got that. We got this team,
better talent, it's more and better. So like we're gonna
do that. This team capable of doing that. We got
the we're still working on just coming together, just finishing.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Yeah. Man, My last question to you man, First of all,
I appreciate you getting the show and you're gonna hit
some pinnacles. Man, you're gonna have some things that you
need for sure.

Speaker 5 (29:13):
But if you could recommend anybody to get on this show, man,
and whoever you say, you gotta help us get him
up here.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
So if you can recommend anybody, who would it be.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Uh, I'm gonna say my dollar. I'm gonna say fits.
I'm gonna say fits. Uh, George Jackson, Damn. Oh yeah,
I'm I'm gonna say Jalen cluck. He funny cluck.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Okay, Okay, Yeah, we got some We got some trench
boys and the safety. Yeah, we can make that happen. Man,
you help us out getting in place, boy, we can
we can make that work. Man, Tyrie, we were greatly
appreciate you man. As y'all get ready, season is here
is game week. Y'all open up the season Rice on
August thirtieth at the newly renovated Our Lady of Lord Stadium. Man,

(30:05):
we appreciate you for your time.

Speaker 2 (30:06):

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Now I appreciate you, Elijah, I appreciate you'll.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Having ladies and gentlemen, that has been safety Tyree skipper
for the Louisiana Raging Cagens another good episode. Like I said,
as they get ready to open up the season, here
you got anything else?

Speaker 5 (30:23):
Man, Man, I just can't wait to see them open
up against Rice. I know that you mentioned it. They
locked them up that Nahou win his longest streak. They're
not a lot of that one. But also it's the
opener Lady Our Lady of Layd Stadium, so I know
it's gonna be rocking. It's gonna be packed in there.
You're gonna have everything from that coverage. I can't wait
to see how that works out. So it's gonna be
