Story Transcript:

En: On a summer afternoon when the sun was beating down mercilessly, Haruto hurried through the back streets of the town.

En: His destination was the house he had known since childhood.

En: In the narrow residential area, bon chochin swayed between the houses.

En: Worryingly on his mind was the news that his sister Ayumi had put the house up for sale.

En: "This house is a place filled with our memories. We can't just let it go so easily," Haruto shouted deep inside his heart.

En: When he reached the house, his friend Rei was waiting.

En: Rei also felt a connection to this house.

En: "Rei, please help me. I want to protect this house." Sensing Haruto's determination, Rei nodded strongly.

En: The two decided to walk around the neighborhood and talk to people.

En: Some reminisced, saying, "I loved the sound of children laughing," while others shared stories of past families.

En: Losing this house meant losing something important to everyone.

En: Soon, the music of bon odori could be heard from afar.

En: Ayumi waited inside the house, looking troubled.

En: "Hey, Haruto. The empty lot next door might also be sold. That's why I thought now was the chance to sell it." Her voice was filled with anxiety.

En: "But this house holds precious memories," Haruto raised his voice.

En: However, he suddenly understood Ayumi's feelings, realizing she too was worried about the future.

En: "I understand. If we can gather money through other means, would that be okay?" he asked gently.

En: "Yes, I'll think about it," Ayumi sighed before showing a smile.

En: Outside, the chochin glowed softly, and a warm atmosphere flowed between them.

En: Through this experience, Haruto learned how to integrate emotions with practical matters.

En: He and Ayumi decided to work together to find the best solution for the whole family.

En: On the quiet night, as they inhaled the scent of incense burned to welcome their ancestors,

En: they understood that this house would still serve as the setting for many stories yet to come.
