Speaker 1 (00:23):
What's going on everybody. Guys and girls, Welcome back to
another edition of The Football Function podcast, available on all
of your podcasting platforms, including on Patreon if you prefer
an ad free listening experience. Thank you so much to
those of you that have subscribed over on Patreon only
a dollar a month, but that truly means more than
(00:44):
what it's worth, if that makes sense. It's worth more
than a dollar to me, is what I'm trying to say.
All the people that have subscribed over the years, even
the ones that have came and gone, that's just kind of,
you know, part of the business. There's been podcasts and
other types of Patreons that I have subscribed to you
and for whatever reason, whether it's a card ending or
(01:05):
you just no longer use Patreon, you just don't really
renew it. And you know that tends to happen sometimes,
So thank you guys so much, past Patreon members, current
Patreon members, and future Patriot members. If you're not a
Patreon member and you just so happen to listen on
one of those free podcasting platforms, one way you can
help the show out and it will not cost you
(01:27):
a dime, is to leave us a five star rating.
That definitely goes a long way as well to helping
the show and its growth. So if at the end
of this episode you feel inclined to do something that
would help someone else, that's one thing that would be
pretty easy, and maybe you can sleep a little bit
better at night knowing that you did something kind for
(01:49):
somebody else. That's somebody being me. Michael Ritter, I'm one
of the hosts of this show. You can find me
on x at Michael five Ritter or on Instagram at
Michael rider five. Hopefully you will hear more voices as
we get closer to football season. We're right here kind
of the in the thick of summer, almost summer's right
around or followers right around the corner roughly, you know,
(02:10):
eleven days until the first preseason game and then things
are kind of off and running. Obviously, we're excited for
the fifth regular season here on the Football Function Podcast.
A lot of good things are in store. It's been
a pretty different offseason. We've kind of taken a little
bit of a different approach now that we're a little
bit more of a season show. We have some years
(02:31):
under our belt. We felt like those first couple of
years we had to go balls to the wall. You know,
any day or week that an episode didn't drop, we
felt like it was a lot of time wasted, you know,
a lot of opportunity wasted for us to get something done.
And that's kind of where we introduced Team of Destiny,
and you know, a couple years later, NFL of Mortals
(02:52):
was we will be getting back to very soon. I
have a requested NFL of Mortals that we'll be getting
into next But yeah, the first few years we kind
of just loaded up and we try to get as
much content out as possible, which is why we're already
up to this episode. I'm recording right now with seven
hundred and nineteen, which is pretty crazy for the amount
(03:12):
of time that we've been here. You know, I take
a lot of pride in the number, but at the
same time, you know, a lot of people have contributed
to that over the years that have done you know,
whether it's Reefers rivalries, whether it's you know, the primetime addition,
the primetime postcast with Goose Double j in the Fantasy
(03:34):
Football Function, episodes that have been substituted, you know, kind
of whenever there's been times I've been out of town,
can't record. People have filled in and obviously the college
football function with CM. Big shout out to CM. He's
been doing a hell of a job this summer getting
you guys prepped by previewing and predicting a lot of
teams respective schedules, something that he's done over the past
(03:54):
few years. He sprinkled in other things as well over
the past few off seasons, but like I said, this
one's been a little bit different. I've kind of, you know,
advised him to take a little bit more time off,
especially during the month of May. That was the month,
you know, the draft had just happened. A lot of
work went into that as well as free agency, so
I felt like that was a good time for all
(04:16):
of us to take a nice recharge, come back in June,
and even whenever we come back, have a little bit
more of a lighter schedule before we get into you know,
the real meat and potatoes of our fifth season, which
is the regular season, and that doesn't just stay with
the NFL. We obviously cover the college football landscape as well.
Thanks to our buddy CM, who has just been the
consistent force here o the you know, over the summer.
(04:39):
Even with this light schedule, He's managed to keep the
show going whenever there's been times where the schedule gods
to start not aligning for me. You know, you you
work all day and you think, okay, there's there's a
window I have tonight where I'll be able to record,
and then the actual night happens, and you know, things
come up actually whenever there's kids involved and things like that.
(05:03):
So yeah, obviously schedules change and more tasks present themselves
whenever you do not expect them. But do not worry,
because we have kind of been working towards getting back
in more of a routine based schedule, and I do
believe that, especially in the regular season, once that comes around,
we will get there. Speaking of the regular season and
(05:26):
goals and places we're trying to get. You know, we've
teased for several several years that we want to take
this show to YouTube, that we want this show to
eventually be a visual type of program as well. You know,
there's an entire platform that we haven't even touched yet,
in the YouTube realm. So I have for the first
(05:48):
time really since we've been teasing it and all that,
I've actually been researching and doing some pretty good homework
on the equipment you know, cameras and things along those
lines that it will requires to be a successful YouTube channel.
So I do think that obviously, you know, twenty twenty
five would be ideal. That'd be nice for the regular
(06:09):
season to be able to have that on the show.
So that's something that we're definitely shooting for. But if not,
if we're not able to do it in the twenty
twenty five regular season, that's definitely something that at the
very latest, we're hoping to introduce in twenty twenty six.
But you guys know kind of how this goes. You know,
this isn't a this isn't a I guess self promoted
(06:33):
type of show where like, you know, you're a former
athlete or you're a former celebrity who just decided to
start a podcast and you have a fan base and
a following that's almost built in. You're going to get
the subscribers just out of the gate, regardless of how
good or bad your show is. You know, and you
have people that you can pay to do all the
engineering work. You have people that can do your editing,
do your publishing, can work social media that have all
(06:55):
the time in the world to do that because they're
on your payroll. And that's just a luxury that we
don't have at the Football Function Podcast. We are more
of that, you know, that local business that you see,
you know, when you drive down a street and you
see a local barbecue joint and you go in there
and there's only the same four or five employees that
are working every single day, but forever reason that barbecue
(07:19):
is damn good, at least in my personal opinion, and
you know, it's built from the ground up, and you
don't have any of the you know, any of any
of the promotion that maybe you know, other big restaurants,
other you know chains types like McDonald's and Wendy's and
Waterburger in places like that, like you don't have that
type of luxury. So we're very thankful. That's why we
(07:41):
partner up with you know, a similar business. And the
reason why I mentioned barbecue is because Plumb Crazy Barbecue
is a business that we like to reference here on
the show. That's you know, we're going to be making
our weekly appearance with Plumb Crazy every week with the
Plumb Crazy Player of the Week award coming back for
the twenty twenty five season. So that's something I'm extremely
excited about, as well as the uniform matchups. Just given
(08:02):
some of the tea's uniforms and the new uniforms that
we've seen come out, there's gonna be some pretty good
uniform matchups, I could already tell. So that's something I'm
looking forward to. Just once time goes on and you know,
you have a long offseason like this was, you're itching
for the football games to be back, and you know,
we're finally getting close to that. So hopefully we'll be
on YouTube very very soon, and this will be a
(08:26):
visual program as well, but don't worry, we will still
be audio for you know, the audio audience that's been
there since day one. So with all that being said, guys,
thank you so much for tuning in here. We got
some good stuff to talk about. We're gonna kind of
look forward for the first time. Right we're looking into
where teams can go right now as training camp is
(08:48):
like less than two weeks away. So what we're going
to do is we're going to go through and we're
going to look at each position's best available free agents,
Like we're going to go look at the quarterback position,
and we're gonna look at the best guy still on
the open market in case there is a team that
just so happens to need that specific position, because we're
not stopping a quarterback. We're going all the way down
(09:09):
running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, tackles, interior offensive lineman,
so on and so forth. You know, on the defensive
side of the ball as well. So some pretty big names.
A lot of it is more name than game at
this point in people's career, but you never know what
can happen, and you know, some of these signings could
end up being big time as we get close to
free agency and injuries could pop up. Just a quick example,
(09:30):
last year, the Atlanta Falcons lost DeMarco Hellims, who was
slated to be the starting strong safety next to Jesse Bates,
and Braylan Trice, who was our third round pick. You know,
gonna get a lot of minutes, a lot of reps
as a rookie defensive end. Both of those guys go
down with respective knee injuries. I believe, I know for
(09:50):
sure Braylan tries toward an ACL. I'm pretty sure Helims
did the same thing. Both happened in the preseason, so
we made emergency phone calls to Matthew Judon and Justin Simmons. Now,
at the time, I was extremely excited for these moves.
I thought that they were both, you know, respected veterans. Obviously,
I was a big fan of Justin Simmons during his
time in Denver. I was shocked that he was available
(10:13):
for as long as he was. He's actually available right now.
He's a name that we'll mention, and so was Matthew Judon,
who the Falcons sign as well. And same thing. You know,
for a team that's so desperate for pass rush, that
hasn't had a pass rush in so long, I was
extremely excited to get approven veteran that's you know, dominated
in Baltimore, that dominated in New England, places that are
known for having respectable defenses, and I was hoping that
(10:35):
he would bring some of that to the Falcons. And
it's not a slight to him or Justin Simmons. You
know why they didn't pan out, Why they're back on
the open market after just one season. Our scheme, an
our defensive coordinator led by Jimmy Lake, was just atrocious
last year. That's the biggest thing that I'm hoping is
different on the Falcons team this year is just their
willingness to just get bent over and spanked by opposing
(10:57):
offensive coordinators and quarterbacks that have no business toasting us.
But because we kind of just set ourselves up for failure,
it tends to be pretty easy for them. So I
just wanted to give you guys an example just me personally.
I experienced it last year. Other teams experience it every
single season, So just something to kind of prepare for
as we get into this. But let's start at the
(11:18):
quarterback position, and then let's go through and name some
of the players that we might be hearing getting signed
or seeing getting signed over the course of August. So
we'll look at Carson Wentz, Desmond Ritter, who actually was
signed today by the Cincinnati Bengals as we're recording this
on July twentieth. Speaking of July twentieth, it's my mom's
birthday today, Happy birthday, Mom. It's also my future mother
(11:40):
in law's birthday, and my cat that I've had for
seven years, it's her seventh birthday today. So yeah, shout
out to all three of the women that have a
birthday today that are in my life, So just wanted
to give a shout out there, but also continuing on here. CJ. Bethard,
Edgie Bridgewater, Jeff Driscoll, Tyler Huntley, Mike White, Ben Denucci,
(12:04):
and Jaren Hall. Bridgewater obviously has one foot out of
the door with his coaching career. He's actually in a
little bit of a illegal situation because he was funding
out of his own pocket some things for that program.
It's a long story, but I'm not really in on CJ.
Bethart obviously, I'm out on Desmond Ritter, Carson Wentz. If
he's actually playing and starting for you like we saw
(12:26):
him do last year, I believe for the Kansas City Chiefs,
then you might be in a little bit of a pickle.
But yeah, if you get in a hole and you
don't feel like trading for Kirk Cousins, who also, you know,
is an option for teams that might want to get
a starter late in the year for an injury or
something happens. You could always call the Falcons and make
an offer for Kirk. But you could do what the
Bengals did and take a swing on one of these
(12:46):
guys if you need a backup. But in terms of
starting Yet none of these guys are going to be
signed to be a starting quarterback, which is why I
think you probably you know, obviously I'm a little bit
biased here, but even as an objective perspective, I would
make a you know, I would take a swing on
Kirk Cousins if I needed a quarterback. But let's move
over to the running back position. Gus Edwards, Jamal Williams,
(13:09):
Jeff Wilson, Amir Abdullah, Ezekiel Elliott, the Ernest Johnston, Deontay Foreman,
Chase Edmonds, Nahem Hines, Jamichael Hasty, Mike Boone, Joshua Kelly,
John Kelly, Chris Evans, Ellis Merriweather, and ty Davis Price.
And now this one's kind of interesting because obviously a
lot of those names I just mentioned how much tread's
(13:29):
left on the tires, a lot of them are kind
of up there in age. They've already hit that thirty
that you know, that thirty number. I feel like Jamal
Williams a little bit surprised he didn't follow Ben Johnson
to Chicago, just giving how much money they had. And
I know they have DeAndre Swift, and you know they
actually drafted a running back too, if I'm not mistaken,
but Jamal Williams just seems like he fit well in
(13:50):
that Ben Johnson offense. He's been around that NFC North
also at a stop in New Orleans, so there's probably
a place where he can, you know, end up finding
finding a good spot. But let's see here, Jeff Wilson,
I wouldn't take a swing I honestly wouldn't take a
swing on really any of these guys. Running back draft
classes are so deep, and if you need someone to
(14:10):
just give carries, yeah, but you'd have better luck maybe
just pulling someone off your practice squad, maybe going plucking
someone off another team's practice squad. Then maybe trying to
stash a running back or there are some backups with
starter potential if you wanted to take a swing, But
that doesn't happen in today's NFL. So unfortunately, this running
back position definitely a little bit dry. But luckily the
(14:31):
draft is just the main factory. Whenever you're getting the
running back position, you really don't have to look into
free agency, which is why that position kind of seems
like it's a dying breed right, Like they're not paid
what you would think that they deserve to get paid
given their job that they have and the toll that
it takes on their body and what they have to
do literally carrying the football. But teams look at it
(14:54):
as if once you hit that thirty or that thirty number,
you get close. It's like, I mean, immediately as soon
as you can in the league. They're looking at that
clock is ticking and they're wondering, how long do we
got with this guy? As soon as you start to
you know, regress or once you command a salary, which is,
you know, ultimately what you're trying to do is get paid.
In the NFL, once your salary ends up reaching a
certain point, it becomes no longer worth it, and they
(15:16):
look at other premium positions like tackle, cornerback, you know,
edge rusher, positions that really are important and critical that
aren't as easy to find, Like you can't find edge
rushers that grow on trees like you might be able
to in the running back position. So the fact that
once they hit free agency, teams aren't spending a lot
of money. So if you see a list of like
(15:37):
twenty names like we just named off here, probably close
to like twelve at least probably won't have another meaningful
role in the NFL ever again, which is crazy because
you know it just it shows up and spits out
players every single year, but you never know what could happen.
Moving on to the wide receiver position, Amari Cooper tops
the list along with Keenan Allen, Gabe, Davis Nelson, Aguilar,
(16:00):
Tyler boyd Odell Beckham, DJ Chark, Justin Ross, Kadarius Tony,
Dwayne Eskridge, Deontay Hardy, Brandon Powell, Jimson Crowder, Alan Robinson, Gunner,
Old Zeuski, Juwan Winfrey, Anthony Schwartz, Devin Hopkins, Jalen Darden,
Britain Kovee, DJ Turner, Marcus Callaway, and river Craft Ker Kraft.
(16:23):
I believe that's how you say that c R A
c R A F. T. Have always seen his name,
and I've read it, but very rarely have to say it.
Pretty safe to say I doubt he's going to be
at the top of many people's lists, Amari Cooper. I
mean he should get signed right at some point. Maybe
some of these guys because their veterans are I ain't
doing the whole training camp thing. That is a factor
as well. I should have mentioned, some of these guys
(16:44):
don't need training camp. They don't want to deal with
training camp, so they'll wait a little bit. Let teams
kind of cut cut the weight off the you know,
I guess the dead weight, cut that dead meat off
the bone. See what you have going forward with the
young pieces, and then you might be able to come
squeeze in a veteran for a little bit more of
a cheaper price. So getting somebody like a Mari Cooper
or Gabe Davis, who yes, I understand, you know, his
(17:06):
contract with the Jaguars was a little bit outrageous, but
if you can get him for a discount of deal
for a team that could use some help at the
outside wide receiver position. I don't want to say a
field stretcher. He's not necessarily someone that can give you
that at this point, although we've seen him do that,
you know, big points and when he was a Buffalo
bill catching deep balls from Josh Allen. But he's not
(17:27):
going to be playing with Josh Allen anymore, obviously, and
they were able to cut him pretty easily in Jacksonville,
So who knows. But the further you go down on
this list, the more you just see either special teams
as you're ceiling, or you're probably just not going to
find a place in the NFL again. But DJ Chark,
Tyler Boyd, Keenan Allen, Mark Cooper gave Davis it seems
(17:49):
like at least one more opportunity could be there as
well as you know, guys like Odell Beckham, but it
does seem like their days are pretty much behind them.
Continuing on here tight end position, Jordan Aikens, Hayden Hurst,
c j Uzama, Anthony Firkser, Gerald Everett, Mercedes Lewis, Michael Prewitt,
(18:10):
Jeff Swain, Nick Venette, Josiah de Gras, Taylor Davis, Jody Fortson,
Peyton Hindershot, and Dalton Keene. Hayden Hurst can provide some
athleticism at the position if he still wants to continue
and play football. Cj Ouzama has been around the block
a little bit. Seems like he might be a little
bit more named them game at this point. Gerald Everett
(18:31):
is someone that I've always been a fan of. I
just think as well, you know, he's kind of, you know,
a little bit more looks the part than actually plays
the part. Mercedes Lewis it's crazy if he hasn't retired yet.
Michael Prewett, I have a video of him catching Desmond
Ritter's first career touchdown pass. Yes, that's a video that's
somewhere my camera role. Not necessarily proud of it, but
it's there. Tight end position, kind of like running back,
(18:52):
but even worse like good luck. I mean, I guess
it's not necessarily like that, because you can float around
as a tight end for ten plus years if you're
a blocking tight end and you can find your way
into the right offense that runs a lot of twelve
personnel with two tight ends out there, and you can
if you're a run blocker, you can find a place
in the league. For a while. We've seen guys like
zach Ertz, you you know, has a little bit of
dual threat. He's not the terrible blocker. It's not necessarily
(19:14):
something you look at like, oh, that's a strength for
zach Ertz. But obviously he's serviceable enough to play for
the Philadelphia Eagles for over a decade, it seemed, and
now he's still, you know, hanging around with the Commanders
as a pass catching tight end. So if you provide
a little bit of both. You can hang around in
the NFL for quite a long time. Let's talk about
(19:34):
some offensive lineman here, starting with the tackles. Jedrick Wills,
Jermaine Effetti, Andres Pete, George F. Jackson, Carmen, Chris Hubbard,
Isaiah Winn, Jack Driscoll, Le Raven Clark, Hakim Adinja, Justin
her Justin Herron, and Deontay Smith. No tackles there. I'm
(19:55):
taking a swing on, to be completely honest with you,
maybe Jermain Orfetti, if he could just be a swing
tackle or something like that. Wills, give me a break.
One of the biggest bus I've seen since I've been
watching an offensive lineman get drafted here lately, especially just
the hype coming out of the University of Alabama. He
got the stamp of approval from Joe Thomas to be
the future tackle for the Browns, and he just fell
flat on his face and definitely would love for them
(20:17):
to be able to take a different swing. I go
back in time and take a different player there. But
interior offensive lineman Brandon Schurf love him, Shag Mason, love him,
Nick Harris, Will Hernandez love him, Liam Eikenberg, Shane Lamoux, Lemieux,
Sam Mustafer, Cody Whitehair, Daniel Brunskill, Dalton Reisner, Michael Dunn,
(20:40):
Kyle Hinton, Elijah Wilkinson, Dan Feeney, Connor McDermot, Quinn Bailey,
Nate Davis, Pat f Line, Connor McGovern, Lucida Smith, Brandon Schurff,
obviously Shag Mason, will Hernandez Liam Eikenberg. It seems like
there are some relatively serviceable linemen here. Given the state
of some of these teams O lines, I'm kind of
shock that they're not at least on the roster to
(21:02):
provide some depth. Maybe competition at training camp, make some
of your starters earn a little bit, push them a
little bit, give them that built in competition, even if
it's not a true open competition where they have a
chance to lose their starting job. It doesn't hurt to
get another veteran in there to maybe push them a
little bit, is what I'm saying pretty much there. But
let's turn it over to the defensive side of the
(21:22):
football now. We will start with those edge rushers. Matt
Judon tops the list along with Zadarius Smith, former teammates
of the Baltimore Ravens. And then Jadavian Clowney, Shaq Barrett,
Ogbo Okoronko, Preston Smith, DeMarcus Walker, Jahea Ward, Carl Lawson,
Yannick and Gackway, James Smith, Williams, Tyas Bowser, Jesse Lakeda,
(21:44):
Malik Hering, James Houston, Jerry Hughes, Travis Gibson, and Kali Duke. Obviously,
I would take a swing on Judon even though he
didn't have a great year for Atlanta last year. We
already replaced him with draft picks and Leonard Floyd, so
he's not coming back to the Falcons. But just my point,
and that is that I'm hoping to it. Like the
fact that he didn't have a productive year for us
(22:04):
last year, I would still give him another crack. Just
tells you how I feel about this player. Zadarius Smith
is someone that I feel like could still provide some
juice Clownies, maybe more of a run defender at this
point in his career, but the veteran leadership on a
limited snap count could provide some pretty good juice from him.
Shaq Barrett not really shore with adlers from here. Less
I heard he retired or something like that, or maybe
he went back to Denver. I don't know why that's
(22:26):
even in my mind. I don't know. I may have
to look into that. Jennik and Gockway might be more
name than game Carl Lawson. This just isn't really one
of the one of the stronger positions, just a little
bit more kind of washed up. At this point. You
could look at the defensive line, players like John Kaminski,
Tavin Bryan, Deshaun Williams, Austin Johnson, Lynville, Joseph Quentin, Jefferson,
(22:47):
Neville Gallimore, Khalil Davis, Demon Harris, William Golston, Brent Urban,
Maurice Hurst, Jordan Phillips, Armon Watts, Kyle Pecko, Miles Adams,
Angelo Blackson, Matt Dickerson, Marlon Davidson, Eric Banks, Timmy Horn,
Montrevius Adams, and Cameron Young. I like Kaminski, like Tavian
Bryan for the right price, I would love Nevill Gallimore
(23:08):
as well, ma Reice Hirs, Jordan Phillips. I mean there's
players on this list too could give you something, I guess,
I mean, especially if you're trying to build a Madden
team like these are names, especially with salary cap off Yeah,
I'm building a defensive line with some of these guys,
But will any of them actually get signed? I mean,
there's a chance you really never know, as I've mentioned
a couple of times here, But linebacker position, Kazir White,
(23:32):
Jalen Reeves, Mabon, Eric Kendricks, Devondre Campbell, Nevill Hewitt, Ray,
Kwan McMillan, Juwan Bentley, Grant Stewart, cam Gill, Nick Vee Hill,
Duke Riley, Monte, Rice Chance, Campbell, Carter Koffla, Nicholas Morrow,
Sione Taki Taki so Devondre Campbell not the best at
(23:56):
this point, a little bit more you know, on the
other side of the hill there, but he was a
difference maker for the Falcons and for the Packers, kind
of bounced around Sins. But for the right price, he's
someone that could be a backup if your starter goes down.
He would be a very serviceable player that you could
plug in there immediately and get some production from. So.
I like what I see there from him. I was
(24:16):
so high on Rakwan McMillan coming out of Alabama, but
obviously hasn't really panned out. Another position where you can
get some special teams maybe some depth pieces, but that's
really about it. Cornerbacks a Santa Samuel Junior, who I'll
just go in preface right now, next surgery in the offseason.
That's gonna scare a lot of teams away. Whenever you
(24:36):
have a next surgery in the offseason and you're expected
to come back and play defense a defensive position. I
don't really know. He must not have been cleared or something,
because there's no reason for him to not be out
there besides the neck injury. Obviously that's a big deal.
But I'm just saying like, even despite having something like that,
Like if teams didn't feel like he was done, why
wouldn't it be signed. Like if he was good to
(24:58):
go and he got the clearance from his doctor the
medical staff, that must be his He's not medically cleared yet,
so teams are gonna wait, maybe allow him to take
a physical, and he might find work at some point
in the twenty twenty five season. But definitely a little
bit of a bleaky view there for a Santae Samuel Junior,
Russell Douglas, Mike Hilton, Stefan Gilmore, Kendall Fuller, Jack Jones,
(25:19):
Manuel Moseby, James Bradbury, Cameron Sutton, Kayla Farley, Faberne Moreau,
Justin Hardy, Eli Apple, CJ Henderson. Yeah, there's some names there,
Rise Deefan Gilmour from Heer defensive player of the Year,
Russeull Douglas, formerly dominant nickel cornerback playing on the inside.
(25:40):
James Bradbury was once a well paid cornerback in the league,
got that big contract from the Giants after dominating for
the Panthers, quote unquote dominating for the Panthers. Obviously, I
just mentioned Sante Samuel Junior. But man, the free agency class,
that's why there's not really a whole lot of movement
right now. There are a few names, but the whole
point of this episode, and what I've gathered from breaking
(26:00):
down these names with you guys and actually looking at
it position by position, is the league is pretty much
set with what they got, and these draft classes are
pretty much just solidifying that. The last position we'll talk
about his safeties, Justin Simmons, Julian Blackman, George Odom, Jordan Whitehead,
Marcus Williams, Jordan Poyer, Von Bell, Chuck Clark, Jlen Mills,
Quandrey Diggs, Marcus may Kevon Wallace, John Johnson to Sean Gibson, surprised.
(26:23):
I'm very surprised he's still kicking. He might be done.
He might be one of those guys that might have
played his last down, Ryan Neil, Ronnie Harrison, Elijah Riley,
Adrian Colbert, Trevor Dinbo, Adrian Amos, Jamall Adams, and J. T. Woods.
Safety is a kind of an interesting position, you know.
It's the defensive version of all the other ones that
we mentioned where the pay just doesn't really match the
position that they have to play and what they're asked
(26:45):
to do, but it is what it is. You kind
of just go with it. If you're safety, you kind
of know what you're signing up for. But they do have,
you know, special team options and you could always be
a third fourth safety on a team and get work
for years as long as you're a decent player, and
I fel like these guys are, they could definitely have
one last run in them. With mind seeing Justin Simmons
sign pretty much anywhere out of the NFC, South just
(27:07):
don't want to not root for him. It's not that
I'm very scared of him being on the Panthers or
the Bucks or something like that. But I would just
rather not have to deal with that. I respect him,
and when they signed with my division rivals towards the
end of their career, all bets are off. But you
guys get it. Thank you so much for tuning in here.
I'm going to wrap up here, getting close to the
(27:27):
thirty minute mark on this podcast. I appreciate you guys
tuning in for bearing with us here. The next episode
that I'm going to talk about in terms of NFL
at mortals is going to be Zach Thomas, requested by
our very own CM, so one more shout out to
see him for everything he's been doing here in the
college football functioning. Go check out what he has going
on here coming up. I'm sure it's going to be
(27:47):
very exciting as we get ready for college football. I'm
sure a lot of you guys are gearing up for
that as well. So thank you so much. Have a
damn good week, have a damn good rest of the
month of July, while passionately in the direction of your dream.
I'll talk to you soon.
