Speaker 1 (00:05):
Mmm, Hello, hell, Hello, how you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
How you doing? What it do? Baby? Baby? You know
that bang it would be by now? You know that's
the intro, the sound, the song, the theme to the
College of Football Function. You know the voice by now,
at least I hope you do. And if this is
the first time I am here to formally introduce myself,

(00:53):
I go by the name of cm AKA because of
Mike A k A cm funk AKA missed the stillio Grandma,
Just mister AKA, professor CM all kinds of Aka's just
call me the host that knows the most about college football.
You know that NC double a action hopell as well

(01:17):
on your end as you listen to this College Football
Function episode, I don't know what number it is. I
know it's a lot. I've been doing this for a
very long time now, going on my third full year
of breaking down college football. And if you know this
is the first time you've ever listened, go back, go

(01:37):
through that scroll and you know you could scroll ups,
go down however it is to look up old episodes
and you can listen to some all kinds of things
that I've put out for like I said, for the
past two and a half almost three years, I did
a time Machine segment. It lasted all summer, you know,

(01:59):
pretty much just went back in time and talked about
some of the best college football teams that ever lived.
You know, even had a tournament style, you know, with
some of the best teams to ever play college football,
and we found out who was the greatest college football
team of all time. Preview shows like this one, it's

(02:20):
off season mode. I know. It's just filler. It's something
to just put out just to keep you guys's you know,
your palette wet, just to keep you hopefully listening and
getting you guys ready for you know, this upcoming season.
I like doing this. I love doing these schedule breakdowns

(02:40):
and predicting things and stuff like that. It's just fun
to do. It's just to get your appetite up. It's
to get you excited on this upcoming potential twenty twenty four,
was it twenty twenty five? Yeah, to be twenty twenty five,
twenty twenty six season, you know, the second year of
the college Football Playoff, the twelve team playoff. It's going

(03:03):
to be exciting. You know. Of course, last year with
the Ohio State beating Notre Dame to win the national championship.
Anything can happen with anything can happen that. You know,
you're going to have your handful of blue bloods that
are going to make the College Football Playoff that are

(03:25):
you know, going to contend, you know, in their respective conferences.
You know, we were not a power five anymore, you know,
without the Pac twelve. Pac twelve is trying to come back.
You know, big news on that. It's not just you know,
Oregon State and Washington State anymore. They've poached some of

(03:46):
these littler schools, you know, from Mountain West and to
join the Pac twelve and they're trying to get back
into the talks of getting a bid to the College
Football Playoff. But that changed, you know this summer this spring,

(04:06):
that the power for conference champions aren't guaranteed. Are the
probabilities going to be astronomical that the Big twelve champion
doesn't make the twelve team playoff? Absolutely, but it's gonna
go top four. You know, it's gonna be just the

(04:27):
best four teams one through four get those four buys.
It's college football is still a work in progress. Is
it perfect? Absolutely not. Is it going to be perfect?
Probably not It's just one of those things. It's a
multi billion dollar business. I mean, it is what it

(04:49):
is with nil transfer portal paying for players, bloody, bloody blah.
There's just so much that goes on in college football
nowadays that it's it's kind of infuriating for some people
head scratching. To others, well, some people are just ecstatic

(05:10):
how crazy college football is because before all this stuff,
before the college football player, before the ANDIL, before the
transfer portal, college football was already hard to predict. You know,
who would have predicted NIU to beat the national runners up?
What was it the second or third week of the season.
You know, strange things happen in college football. But with

(05:35):
every year, it seems a team, sometimes a handful of
teams at least for maybe half of the season just
kind of overperform. A team kind of comes out of
the blue, goes through their you know, pre season stuff,
getting predicted to finish probably in their lower half of

(05:59):
their conference, not expecting a whole lot from them, and
then they overperform. I think this show is definitely I'm
definitely leading into it this show. I got two of
the biggest darlings I thought of last year, there was
quite a bit of them. Don't get me wrong, but

(06:20):
I thought these two definitely overperformed. These two made their
first college football playoff, one of them won their conference
in their first year, and they just overperformed, became darlings,
became the Cinderellas. Because that's what college football is all about.

(06:41):
If you like college basketball, it's the same way. College
football is better when it's not just blue bloods. You know,
does everybody want to see Georgia and Ohio State and
Texas and you know, PennState, all these blue bloods every No,
you want to see smaller schools. You want to see

(07:05):
teams like these two, the Arizona State Sun Devils of course,
out of the Big Twelve, new members of the Big
twelve first year in the Indiana Hoosiers. It was very
exciting last year to see these two teams pretty much
step into the limelight for one year and overperform. Of course,

(07:28):
being a blue butt is tough, you know, Yes, the
pressure always amasses, it surpluses. It's just, oh, you can
just feel it every single game that you know, when
you have you see the Georgia Bulldogs on your schedule,
when you see the Texas Longhorns on your schedule. You
see certain teams Notre Dame on your schedule, you take

(07:49):
tend to take them serious. You know what you're going
to get with these two teams with you know, Arizona
State and Indiana, they just overperform and we're gonna look
into their schedule. Is it impossible for these two teams
to get back to where they were last year? Absolutely not.

(08:12):
In anything's possible at college football. I mean, look at
JMU of a couple of years ago. There's always instances
of teams just taking strides for Do you think these
blue bloods that run college football were always like that?
I can quite fondly remember the Georgia Bulldogs of probably

(08:33):
the late nineties early two thousands with Mark Richt running them.
They just were a team that were there. You know,
sure maybe relevant, yes, but never could get over that hump,
you know what I'm saying. And it takes a few
conference championships, It takes a few college football Playoff appearances,

(08:54):
and of course those rings would never hurt to become relevant.
So of course, doing the Indiana Hoosiers and Arizona State
sun Devils, Big ten and Big twelve respectively. We're going
to start off with the Indiana Hoosiers with Kurt Signetti.
Def I a disciple of what's his name. I can't

(09:19):
believe I'm just spacing on his name right now, Nick Saban.
There we go Alabama and first year in Indiana, hit
up the transfer portal, maybe opened up the wall in
a little bit and just started bringing in players and
you know, had a college game day. This past year

(09:40):
was one of you know, fourteen of the best games
all year, and overperformed, like I said, made it to
the College Football Playoff. Of course, lent losing to the
national runners up in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish twenty
seven to seventeen and eleven and two. Record. Nothing to
sneeze at, nothing to hang your hat at. Winning eleven

(10:01):
games in a year is awesome. Yes, you have a
chance to win more, of course with a college football
playoff berth. But Indiana overperformed. Now you know, there's your applause,
you know there's that pad on your back. Indiana. You
had a great year, but that was last year. You're

(10:21):
not going to creep up on anybody. People were going
to see that name on their schedule and you're not
just going to you know, just creep up on somebody
and beat them. Go to a happy valley, you know,
go to the horseshoe in an upset a big boy
because they know you're coming now. And there's other gonna

(10:44):
be other teams that you have a target on your
back now that they want to beat one of the
darlings of college football last year. Gonna be very interesting.
It's the TCU thing. I know. I talk about this
a lot. TCU is a relevant program. A couple of
years ago, made it to the National Championship Game and

(11:07):
then just got drove by Georgia. And it seems like
right after that it was a flash in the pan.
It was just one of those one hot years and
couldn't sustain it. Now, do I think these two teams
are gonna go, you know, win eleven games again this year,
I'm gonna say no. Like I said, it's hard for

(11:30):
sustained greatness in college football. Ask some of the blue buds.
It takes a lot. But I think out of these
two teams, if the one that does it, I'm gonna
say it's gonna be Indiana just because of Kurt Signetti.
It's that Andy Reid coaching tree kind of in the NFL.
You see, did this guy learn enough from Nick Saban

(11:52):
and taking what he learned, you know, from probably the
greatest college football coach that ever lived and making a
Alabama Crimson Tide kind of the same kind of colors too.
Up there in Indiana with the Hoosiers. So let's go
through their schedule and see can this team be a
Big ten powerhouse for the second consecutive year. August thirtieth,

(12:17):
first game. Welcome in Old Dominion. Yeah, it is very comical.
It's very common. You see these teams. They have to
open up their pocketbook. They'll they welcome in Old Dominions
and the Gramblings and the two lanes, and then the
rice is you gotta pay money. I mean, it's your

(12:40):
civic dutey. You have to have a cupcake at least
one on your schedule every year. This one is no different.
Old Dominion goes into Indiana and loses to of course,
these Indiana Hoosiers gonna get my my l pin ready,
because I do this live, y'all. I don't just you know,
sit there and do it. I'm gonna go through it.

(13:02):
I'm gonna think about trap games all these kind of
things and it all goes into effect. But also going
through this, I have to look at Penn State. Oh yeah,
they get a loss, so it looks like I gotta
put it right here. It looks like the best Indiana

(13:23):
can do is eleven to one. So they're one and
ozer right now. Yes, they get a loss. Eventually in November,
we'll cross that bridge when we get there. All right,
September sixth, still staying at home. They look like they
welcome in Kennesaw State. I just wrote k e n
n ST, so if it was Kent State, it would

(13:44):
be k e n T. So I'm gonna say Kensas
State yet again, another small program. I want to say
for some reason, Kenosall State sticks out to me as
maybe a new addition to Division one, or was ranked
one of the worst teams in Division one last year.

(14:04):
Not real sure either way. Indiana playing at home after
a great year last year, no telling what they did
in the transfer portal this year, recruiting, so on and
so forth. I'm gonna say that's an easy win. September sixth,
Kennessall State Friday, the twelfth of September, they welcome in

(14:26):
Indiana State definitely aa rivalry. I'm yet again, this isn't
a hardwood battle. You know, Indiana State, I do believe
that is where Larry Bird used to play. If I'm
not mistaken, not gonna be much of a competition. Yes,

(14:47):
does this have trap potential? Does this have letdown game potential? Absolutely?
Sometimes you see that with these rices in Texas at
Ohio and Ohio State. Yeah. Sometimes the little guy hangs
in there for a little while and makes your butt
pucker just a little bit, just enough to pitch you off,
and then you're just your talent, your coaching, home field

(15:09):
debt and yadda, YadA YadA. All that just overcomes mistakes,
bloody blah, and it can happen. Don't get me wrong,
But Indiana State loses, of course to these Hoosiers out
of the Big Ten. Here we go, Week four, September,
twentieth conference season stars not the strongest non conference season. Yes,

(15:34):
they're gonna look probably a preseason top twenty five team
just because of what they did last year. You know,
you know me, I've said it before. I'm not a
big fan of preseason rankings. They're gonna be three and
oh yeah, and they've played Old Dominion, Kennasas State and
Indiana State. Whoop do do? Here? We go? Conference season

(15:56):
starts the twentieth. They welcome in Illinois. This is going
to be my team that I think is going to
be the Indiana of last year. They're going to creep
They're gonna creep up on some people, and I think
they're gonna win some games. Brett Beilama was one of
those coaches. He had success at Wisconsin, He's had a

(16:19):
success wherever he has gone, and he builds tough teams
and winning teams. If I'm not mistaken, I think he
was at Arkansas as well. And for some weird reason,
it just sticks out to me this Arkansas team. I
was at a tech game. Arkansas came down to Lubbock

(16:40):
and just beat the living crap out of us and
accumulated like four or five hundred rushing yards or something
like that. And I want to say that was a
Brett Blama led team. And this Illinois team is no joke.
Like I see them having at least nine or ten
wins this year. I'm definitely gonna break down their schedule,
of course, out of later time, but man, that's tough. Man.

(17:05):
That is tough. If it was at Illinois, I would
absolutely pick it as an upset right there at home.
But I just man, those cupcakes three weeks in a
row and then you step up in weight class automatically
game one of your conference season. That's scary. Man. I'm

(17:25):
gonna give it to Indiana just because they're playing at home,
and I'm gonna say close, very very close, dobe surprise
of Illinois pulls off this upset. That is September twentieth.
September twenty seventh, take a road trip to Iowa to
play the Howkeys. Everybody knows that's Kinnick Stadium, Kinnick Wave,

(17:50):
hard place to play, a tough team. Every single year.
It almost seems like they win nine ten games every
single year. Put out great aspects into the NFL. Great coaching,
don't commit very many penalties, don't beat themselves, can beat
you nine to six. Their offense has always been woeful.

(18:12):
I think they took some steps forward last year, but man,
that's tough. Yeah, you know, I'm gonna give it to them.
I'm gonna say they go to Iowa and win. I
don't know why, but something tells me that they're going

(18:34):
to just go to Iowa and win. So I'm gonna
go with that. September twenty seventh at Iowa, w for
the hues years. They are five and zero going into October.
Week six, October fourth, first by not a bad place
for a buy right there. You had Illinois and Iowa
back to back. Yeah, if there went one in one

(18:58):
with those two teams, that's a great time for buy.
Lick your wounds, YadA YadA. They go and two against
those teams. That buy definitely couldn't come any faster. But
that's a good place for a buy right there, because
that gives them an extra week to prepare. Week seven,
that is October eleventh at Oregon. That's a cross country trip. Ooh,

(19:24):
tough place to play. I think Oregon, man, I think,
I mean Oregon. It's been a great program for a
long time, for at least ten twenty years, so as
long as I can remember, always wins eight nine, ten
games a year. You know, one of the only teams

(19:45):
to beat Ohio State last year, of course, along with Michigan.
M Yeah. Give me the Ducks hosting Indiana and beating
these Indiana Yeah, I know that the bye before that
would give Indiana two weeks to prepare for Oregon. But

(20:08):
I don't know. Something tells me. Man, Indiana goes to
Oregon and loses. October eleventh, October eighteenth, Come back home.
It's a good liquor wounds game. Welcome in the Michigan
State Spartans. I say that. Now we'll watch Michigan State
have a great year. It almost seems like the teams
that you kind of talk shit about and you kind

(20:30):
of say, oh, you know, we have blank this week.
Oh that's a good win. That's an easy win. Who's
to say Michigan State can't be good, but that with
the loss the week before at Oregon, these Indiana Hoosiers
come home, you know, get they got brought back to
the earth. You know, it's hard to go undefeated. It's

(20:51):
gonna happen. It's a respectable loss. Yes, strength and schedule.
It's gonna hurt, you know, in the in the rankings
when it comes to, you know, picking the call football
playoffs later. Yeah, I get it. But lick your ruins
against Michigan State. Get that win right there. October eleventh,
October twenty fifth, you're still staying home. Welcome in the

(21:13):
UCLA Bruins yet again, another team. I'm not expecting a
lot from teams like Rutgers, you know, teams like Michigan State,
teams like this UCLA team, maybe even in Nebraska. You're
not expecting much out of this year. Could they, like
I said, they could come from nothing and be the

(21:35):
Indiana of last year. You know, there's no telling, but
usually UCLA sorry has to go to Indiana, and anytime
you have you gotta travel, you know, a couple of
time zones. It's gonna be tough and it's gonna be
tough for those UCLA Bruins going cross country to Indiana
to play these users. So Usuly loses to Indiana October

(21:59):
twenty fifth, November first at Maryland yet again, another team
more than likely is gonna be at the bottom half
of the Big ten standings. You know, come Thanksgiving time,
it is what it is. You're gonna have your top
upper echelon and you're gonna have your lower tier teams.

(22:21):
It's pretty safe to say certain teams are going to
be at the top, and certain teams are gonna be
in the middle, and certain teams are gonna be in
the bottom. Yes, last year, I even probably did it
predicted Indiana to be towards the bottom, but hey, crazy
shit happens in college football, right, But these Indiana Hoosiers

(22:42):
get back to their winning ways. They won the last
two in a row, make it three. Go to Maryland
November first and beat the Maryland Terrapins. Looks like they
are five six, eight and one heading into November eighth,
that matchup at Penn State. I already did the Penn

(23:03):
State in Indiana Lions, so I gave them the win
against Indiana. Gonna be tough, Absolutely gonna be a tough game.
Penn State's gonna be great this year. Indiana's gonna be
great this year. Don't be surprised if this is like
a game day type atmosphere as in college game day
or gonna be ranked on ranked. It's gonna be an

(23:26):
awesome game. But I have to give Bana Hannah Hoosiers
that lost right there because I gave the Penn State
and Indie Lions the win November eighth against these Hoosiers
eleven fifteen. Of course, November fifteenth, Welcome in Wisconsin. If

(23:47):
there ever was a team that just I scratched my
head for the last couple of years going, Hey, when
are we gonna see the Wisconsin Badgers that I know
is can be seen. Wisconsin's always been a team that's
you know, they perform, they played well. I'm trying to

(24:09):
think of that his name right now, head coach Wisconsin.
He used to coach Cincinnati, and uh, he went to
Wisconsin a few years ago and isn't quite doing what
a lot of people are probably expecting him to do.
So uh, this scot trapped game. Next to it, Wisconsin

(24:30):
could easily walk into Indiana's home home field and beat
these Hoosiers. Mm hmm. If it was at Wisconsin, I'd
say I'd give it the I'd give it the upset Special.
But playing at home with the Penn State loss the
week before, good teams don't lose consecutive weeks. I mean,

(24:51):
it's it's just a recipe for a good team, a
recipe from a good coach, especially like Kurt Signetti for
the Nick Saving coaching Tree. You don't see consecutive losses
from good teams. So let's see you. In November fifteenth,
Wisconsin goes Indiana into Indiana and loses to these Hoosiers.

(25:12):
Remember twenty second is their last bye not the greatest buy,
but they've had six games between their last bye. Kind
of crappy, but yet could be a blessing in a size.
I mean, to be honest, you just play Penn State
and Wisconsin, two teams that are probably going to be

(25:33):
very physical. You might even be down on quarterback a cornerback.
I meant every time in every college season, no one's
ever really one hundred percent you know, healthy going into
you know, the month of November. Yeah, you have a

(25:53):
lot of players. How deep are you? Can you go
too deep on your offensive line? You don't have a
dependable right tackle, you know, a deep enough linebacker corps
you know, cornerback room x X and X to where
when somebody when one guy goes down, another guy comes
up and still have sustained success throughout the you know,

(26:15):
short year. That of course that with this college football season,
we're only playing twelve games. It's a fourteen week season.
So uh, it's hard, especially at this time. So goodbye
November twenty second and see here, November twenty eight looks
like a Black Friday game. Looks like these Indiana Hoosiers
go to Purdue and play the boiler Makers, probably thinking

(26:40):
see him. You know they had to buy the last week.
This should be an easy win for Indiana. Absolutely not.
Crazy things happen in Purdue on a weird night like
a Black Friday. Upsets happened all the time in college football.
This one's no excuse. I'm not sure if p'dueing Indiana.

(27:03):
Our rivals usually that last week of the season is
robbery week. So uh oh, I got a T next
to it. Man, this has got trap game written all
over it. Uh m hm mm hmm hmmm. Yeah, I'm

(27:24):
gonna give him on win. I'll give them a win.
I'm not too easy. I'm not easily writing this w
right here at all. I see it. That makes that
puts them at ten and two. Uh and that is
another great year. But this schedule though, at Iowa, at Oregon,
at Penn State hosting of Wisconsin, it's not the toughest

(27:51):
toughest uh you know schedule I've seen yet, and through
this whole preseason process that we've gone through. They don't,
you know, play a Michigan, they don't play Ohio State.
They don't play like a USC who could come out
of the blue and kind of Lincoln Riley kind of
you know, get things going back in LA like he

(28:11):
has done in previous stops. But I can see three
losses as well. I mean there could even be more.
I mean, who's to say Michigan State, UCLA, Maryland and
Purdue upset. You know, everybody's gunning for Indiana this year.

(28:32):
They want to take down a team that had a
lot of eyes on last year. So don't be surprised
if this team kind of falls from dominance. I'm not
gonna say they can have a bad year like a
seven and five year, but eight and fours is there too.
I really want to do nine and three for this team,
just because I just I don't see it. Ten and two.

(28:54):
They will slip up, They'll will lose a game they're
not supposed to, and I just see it. Yeah again,
in Penn State, those are obvious losses. But at Iowa
that's not an easy game. Illinois the team and their
first conference game after playing three powder buffs to open
up the season, and then you welcome in Illinois a

(29:15):
team that's gonna punch you in the mouth. That could
be a loss. So gonna be interesting though they go
ten and two, though, I see definitely college football playoff
aspirations for sure, maybe not conference, but of course it
depends on guys like Penn State, Oregon you know, you're
Michigan's and some of these great teams like Ohio State

(29:37):
buckets as well. What's gonna happen, to be perfectly honest
with you, So that is the Indiana Hoosiers out of
the Big Ten. All right, let's move on to a
Big twelve country. Let's talk about a team that Let's
see here, I'm going kind of going through their schedule
right now. No, they can go undefeated. They have not

(30:01):
played anybody that already broke down, so therefore they have
an undefeated schedule on the table. That is the Arizona
State Sun Devils. First year in the Big Twelve and
won the Big Twelve Conference. You know, played Iowa State
down in Dallas for that Big Twelve Trophy and won it.

(30:24):
Guys like Sam Levitt and of course the straw that
stirred the drink, Cam Scataboo. If it wasn't for an
Ashton Janet, if it wasn't for a Travis Hunter, cam
Scataboo was definitely being talked about as being one of
the best players in college football last year. Just and

(30:51):
I know we've talked about this, me and Mike about
how you always want to compare, you know, great players
to other great players. A white running back man, he's
not Christian McCaffrey, you know, he's he's like runs like
Ron Dane, but yet has an arm and can catch.

(31:14):
And he just really put that team on his back
so many times last year and ended up being drafted,
you know, pretty pretty high. And of course I think
they heat the Giants picked him up. If if I'm
not mistaken, a winner, just a tough guy man. It
just seemed like in the Big Twelve Conference, that Big

(31:35):
Twelve Conference championship game, he just popped. I mean he
was the best player on the field. Straight up, he
was the best player on the field. Kenny Dellingham definitely
outperformed that whole Big Twelve. Yes, I know, the Big
Twelve will definitely get shipped on. It doesn't have the

(31:55):
one premier team. It just has a bunch of good teams.
It's not like the it's not like the SEC with
a bunch of great teams. It's got a bunch of
good teams and it's gonna be a war. I mean,
the Big Twelve I think can go head to head
most of the time with a Big ten and a
SEC school. I think Arizona State should have beat Texas

(32:18):
and that College Football Playoffs semifinal. Too many non calls
Arizona State was the better team. I seriously thought that.
And but that's neither here nor there. Cam Skataboo is
not walking through those those doors down there in Tempe
is a Tempier two song. I always get those too confused, Man,
Arizona Arizona State doesn't matter. Sam leave it though, love Ittt.

(32:44):
I'm not really sure how he pronounces it, but he's
coming back. Definitely being talked about as a preseason you know,
big twelve quarterback, you know, player of the year type
style guy. Definitely gonna get some national recognition. You know,
you win your conference, you make a college playoff, you're
gonna get talked about in the offseason. If if Cem's

(33:05):
talking about you in a college football function. You know,
when these college shows come out on respective you know networks,
you know that there's gonna say Sun Dealers are going
to be talked about and they're not creeping up on anybody. So,
like I said, lost to Texas thirty nine to thirty
one in that college football playoff? Was it quarterfinal? I

(33:27):
think it was quarterfinal, I'm not mistaken, but yeah, Big
twelve champs, reigning Big twelve champs. Let's see if you
know these these guys can go back to back, you know,
put the league you know, of course that is the
Big twelve Conference on notice and go out and do
something that you know, not many teams have done, and

(33:48):
one consecutive Big Twelve championships. Not even teams like Texas
and OU did that very often. It was just kind
of every once in a while. It just kind of
bounce back and forth. It is what it is. But
that is the area WHENNA stay Sun doubles. Let's go
through their schedules, shall we looks like August thirtieth is
their first game Innau. Not sure who that is, to

(34:11):
be perfectly honest with you the top of my head,
I have no idea who Nau is. So let's give
them that easy win right there. That is August thirtieth,
September sixth. Here we go. I think this has got
some trap game potential. I think this could be a
game I might want to watch. They go to Mississippi State,

(34:33):
Big twelve versus SEC could be a tough game. Don't
know much about Mississippi State, to be perfectly honest with you.
They're one of those teams that I'm a little blind about,
don't really know a whole lot about. I'm probably not
even going to tweak about. So got to give it

(34:54):
to the coach, you know, I gotta give it to
the quarterback. I know these guys. I know Kenny Dillingham,
I know Sam Levitt, and maybe they're a little hungry
this year. Maybe they're not content with just went in
the Big twelve last year and having a college Football playoff,
you know spot, and they didn't win a game in

(35:14):
the College Football playoffs just so you know, they had
to buy welcoming in Texas off of you know, a
game they played before the week before, and that Arizona
State team lost. So I gotta give him a win.
I mean, Mississippi State's a lower tier SEC team, so
what that would definitely look bad on the Big Twelve

(35:37):
if Arizona State doesn't go into Mississippi State and beat them,
seeing how they won the conference last year, right, you
know catch what I am putting down? All right? September thirteenth.
Welcome in Texas State the Bobcats. Yeah, nine times out
of ten. I would just you know, right, the w
not talk much about them. This Texas State team did

(36:00):
make a lot of noise last year. Good coaching, overperformed
last year. I think this could be a trap being
I see the spread probably on this one being like
seventeen twenty one, maybe even higher Arizona State wins. But

(36:20):
I'm going to say by less than ten. That's gonna
be my upset special right there. Don't be surprised that
those Texas State Bobcats go into Arizona and beat Arizona
State September thirteenth. All right, here we go September twentieth,

(36:40):
conference season starts, go down to Waco and play the
Baylor Bears. Damn. Definitely another team I'm scratching my head about.
I'm definitely going, hmmm, you know, a thorn. Definitely in
Texas tech side the past couple of years, overperform, underperform,

(37:03):
they're relevant, they're not they're being talked about then they're not.
Just never know about the Baylor Bears, man, you really
really do. I definitely saw your Robertson comes on my mind.
I want to say that that's the co the quarterback
of these Baylor Bears. At Baylor could be a tough
place to play at McLane. I want to say it's

(37:24):
McLaine Stadium top of my head. Not real sure, but
uh mm mmmmm interesting. You know what upset They go
to Baylor and they lose. I don't know why. Man,

(37:49):
it's the gut. You're right, you know. If there's one
thing you ever learned from me is trust your gut. Man.
And that's not with just college football or betting or gambling.
You're in a strange place, or you're at where and
you feel something weird, roll with it. That's you know,

(38:11):
the man upstairs, that's your angels, that's your all these
things around you. It's telling you to pay attention to
your spidy sense. That's all I gotta say. So. September
twentieth at Baylor, Arizona State gets their first loss Week five.
This is a Friday night game. September twenty sixth. Welcome
in TCU yet again, another team never sure about. Could

(38:36):
be good. It could have been a good, It could
have been a shit. I am not sure. But with
the week before last, you know, losing to Baylor. They
lick their wounds. Good teams don't lose consecutive weeks. And
I see them bouncing back against TCU on a Friday
night after a short week. So that could be even

(38:57):
worse for Arizona State with that loss and then turning
around and having to jump start everything a day early.
A lot of people say, oh, I love fridaying that
college football games. Some of these guys don't like that.
That's a real quick turnaround. They got to do film
the next day and pretty much jump start right into
their week and have one day less short of working,

(39:22):
you know, getting better. And if you have to travel,
it's even worse. At least TCU has to travel to
Arizona State to play these Sun Devils. But that's a
win against for Arizona State against TCU Friday, September twenty sixth,
October fourth, first bye, goodbye. That's a great buye at Baylor.

(39:44):
You know in TCU could be two tough teams. Not
too sure. I could see those losses flipping. I could
see TCU beating Arizona State and them beating Baylor. You
never know. The Big twelve is just really hard to like.
I said, there's a lot of good teams, not enough
great teams, and anybody can come out of anywhere. Like

(40:07):
I said, that's why we're talking about it as on
a state right because the last year, so October eleventh,
after that, by the week before they take a trip
to Utah. Definitely a team. You can throw them in
a pile with the Florida States teams that underperformed. I

(40:29):
do remember seeing a preseason thing about the Big twelve
last year preseason rankings and who who's going to contend
for the Big twelve and Utah was up there and
it looked like they fell from grace and I could
have been happier. Utah talked a lot of shit about

(40:51):
the truck Stop Conference that is the Big Twelve. It's like, sorry,
you know, like your conference fell apart art and the
Big Twelve took you in and you're gonna talk mess
about it. And that really put a big bulls eye
on the Utah youths last year and a lot of
teams beat them. But mhmm, can they bounce back? Yes,

(41:15):
they have a great coach. I mean they really really
do have a great coach. Good coaches don't have two
consecutively bad seasons. Oh, that's gonna be a tough game. Man.
At Utah, I'm gonna give them a win. I'm gonna
give Arigona State the win. W sprits. They lose this

(41:35):
game right there though, Utah. I don't think Utah has
a bad year like they did last year. Absolutely not.
Week eight, October eighteenth, they welcome in the Texas Tech
Red Ravers Red Raiders. Sorry, gotta start next to this.
I got a r next to this as well. It's

(41:59):
starting to beat kind of a rivalry game. And also
I got they are as for revenge. Texas Tech was
one of the only teams that beat Arizona State last year,
So definitely a bad taste that they want to get
out of their mouth or welcoming us, that is, the
Texas Secred Raiders into their house. Don't be surprised if

(42:23):
we get thumped. But I'm drinking the kool aid this
year and your some of you are probably going to
see him. Don't drink the kool aid. Don't drink the
kool aid. That kool Aid Man is the most tempting
cup of kool aid I've ever seen. Done so much

(42:46):
and I almost have to drink the kool aid, because
if I don't drink the kool aid, I can't say, well,
who you know, and really celebrate if Texas Tech does
have a great year, and what better year than now
to do it and go to you know, these Arizona
State Sun Devils and beat the reigning you know Big

(43:07):
Twelve Conference champions you know for two consecutive years, and
say and have something on top of some of these
other teams that they that they don't have. Right, So
it's like they get the l right here because Texas
Tech is coming to town October eighteenth, and they beat
these Arizona State Sun doubles. October twenty fifth, the Houston

(43:33):
Cougars coming to town. I'm gonna safely say that this
is definitely going to be the second or third worst,
maybe even the worst team in the Big twelve. Lost
a lot of players, lost their defensive coordinator to my
Texas Tech Frederators, a rebuilding year for the Houston Cougars,

(43:58):
So I'm safely going to say that this is an
easy win for Arizona State, especially losing the Texas Tech
the week before. Good bounce back win, good lick your
wounds win, and Also, you got to save your season.
Now you have two losses, so that is an easy win.
October twenty fifth against Houston. Remember first, here we go.

(44:20):
This is the Big twelve title rematch at Ames, Iowa
against Iowa State. Not the easiest place to play. Iowa State.
It's a good team. Lost a lot. They're a lot
like these Arizona State Sun Devils. Lost a lot in

(44:40):
the draft. They don't have their big, great wide receivers
that helped him out last year. That's gonna be tough,
manm mmmmm. I'm gonna I gotta give the revenge factor, man,

(45:04):
I gotta give them a l Ames is a tough
place to play, man. And it wasn't a state. They
really took Iowa State to the woodshed. Man. That game
was not close very often. Man, though the better you
could just tell who the better team was last year.

(45:26):
I think Iowa State bounces back. Definitely got to give
respect to the Iowa State Cyclones, another great team. Yeah,
and strange things happen in Iowa in the month of November, Man,
absolutely so. Yeah, Arizona State goes down at Ames, Iowa
to Iowa State November first, November eighth, There we go
second and final by definitely great time for a buye.

(45:52):
You know, It's like October fourth was their first at Utah.
They welcomed in Texas Tech, Houston, and Iowa State. They
went to and two through those four games. Could it
be worse? Yes? Could it be better? Absolutely? They definitely
could be my red Erraiders October eighteenth and easily could

(46:15):
walk into Ames and contend against a Cyclones team. I
just think the revenge factors are a little too strong for
that at that time of year for a team like
Iowa State. But good time for bye goodbye. November fifteenth,
good team I think could overperform West Virginia comes into town.

(46:36):
But with that week before and then two weeks before
two weeks before that with the Iowa State loss, you
have two weeks to prepare for a West Virginia team
that's gonna have to travel a long way West Virginia
all the way to Arizona. It's a long trek, and
I think Arizona State is a better team than West Virginia,

(46:57):
So I got to give them a win right there.
November twenty second, they had to take a trip to Colorado. Now, yeah,
I am definitely Colorado hater can't standion, didn't like his son,
didn't believe Travis Hunter should have won the heisman. Sorry,
that was Ashton Jet's heisman that was robbed from him.

(47:23):
Can Colorado reload? Definitely a team that you can kind
of pick and choose who they want. Had a great
year last year. I mean, definitely not sleeping on them.
Colorado wants to be the Arizona State of last year
this year, so I could see big things out of

(47:44):
Colorado for sure, But maybe by then, Colorado's kind of
fell from grace. Like I said, I think their team
was a lot of the team that those players aren't
there anymore. You know, they're all going to be playing
on Sundays and Mondays. I gotta give the Arizona State
some nevels a win right there at Colorado. November twenty second,

(48:06):
all right, Week fourteen, last game of the season. Friday
night looks like Black Friday. A rivalry week? Yeah. November
twenty eighth, Welcome man, Arizona. Ooh, this is a hated
rivalry too. Man. If you've never seen an Arizona Arizona
State game, you need to tune in. Definitely new to

(48:29):
the big twelve. You know, these two teams, but not
that rivalry. I used to watch that rivalry a lot
back in the day. These two teams absolutely hate each other.
It's the battle for Arizona. Gonna be a doozy Arizona.
Another team I'm definitely going hmm, lost a lot. You know,
tout Roe. McMillan's not walking through those doors. Noah, Fafida.

(48:53):
You know, there's a lot of uncertainty in Arizona this
year as well. So I gotta give it to Arizona State.
That is a w right there. It looks like nine
and three that ReSpectacle. I mean, you know, three conference
losses that could hurt him when it comes to, you know,

(49:13):
going back to Dallas. But they got a pretty tricky schedule.
I mean, of course, playing their their they're not only
their Big twelve rivals in Arizona, but their state rivals.
You go to Colorado, go two aims, Welcome in the
Red Raiders. You have to go to Utah, you play
at Baylory, play TCU. At some point in time, a

(49:37):
lot of those teams have either won the Big Twelve
or played for the Big Twelve tournament, you know, championships.
So you gotta put some respects on this schedule. Man,
This is a tough, tough schedule. But if they do,
you know, do better than what I'm performed or what
I'm forecasting at ninety three, a ten and two Arizona

(49:57):
is two. A ten and two Arizona State eight team
with this schedule, yeah, you got. You gotta almost pencil
human to Dallas and then definitely give him a spot
in the college football playoff because you know, at Mississippi
State didn't even really talk about that. Who's to say
Mississippi State's not gonna be good this year? That Texas
State game that those Bobcats Chris Sneaky good team right

(50:22):
there too, and their conference schedule is brutal. So don't
be surprised that this team falls back to grace, you know,
falls back to earth and gets like a seven and
five year. You know, I'm not saying the six and six,
but seven and five and eight and four is definitely
on the table. All right, guys, that does it for

(50:42):
me here for the college football function after another week,
I'm gonna call this the Darling week. You know, two
teams that were just darlings of the college football season
last year and wanna do it again. You know, they're
not going to be darlings. They're not going to be Cinderella's.
They're definitely gonna have more eyes on them than they
had last year, and they're not going to creep up

(51:04):
on anybody anytime soon. So they're not the hunters anymore.
They are the hunted, and it's a whole lot harder
to play nowadays, you know, when you are the hunted.
So that is that I've done. Let's see here, like
I've done. That was my sixth team. You know, I'm
still got some more I think I'm going to do.

(51:27):
Let's see, I have my lists that I want to do.
Let's go some conference champions, shall we. Let's go to
the ACC and let's talk about the Clemson Tigers, the
a SEC champs last year. Let's do them. And let's
do Georgia, the reigning SEC champs. So we're going to

(51:51):
do Uga and Clems next week when I come back. Yeah,
like I said, yeah, you almost have to talk about
all the conference champs. I mean, it's it wouldn't be
college football without teams like Georgia and Clemson. I think
two probably of the best coaches in the game right

(52:15):
now with Kirby smartin Davos Sweeney. Two teams that I
think definitely could be playing for their conference championship at
their respected stadium, you know, in November, late November, early December,
and wouldn't be surprised if they weren't in the college
football Playoff yet again. So definitely doing the Clemson Tigers

(52:36):
and the Georgia Bulldogs next week. So you guys take
care of one another. I will talk to you soon.
I'm about to go on in a little short vacation.
If you do not know about Texas, Texas is so
big that Texans go to other parts of Texas for

(52:57):
their vacation. Let's just say that, and not even joking.
If you live in Texas, you'll kind of get that joke.
And if you're not from Texas, you'll go what you
travel to your state to go on vacation. Yes, that's
how big Texas is. And you can drive for hours
up on hours and not leave Texas. I'm not even

(53:18):
kidding if Texas is huge. But yeah, I'm going down
to South Texas. I'm gonna go to a family reunion
for the missus and we're gonna have a good old
time in the next couple of days. So I will
talk to you guys very soon. Get the patrion on
app and get this show ad free, just like God intended.

Day just wrapping up, not too long ago. Hope all
you others had great days. Big shoutouts all the dads
out there. You know, it seems like more and more nowadays,

(55:07):
the Father's Day is just not as important. There's not
as many fathers around, and everybody knows. To raise an
upstanding person, you know, whether it be a woman or male,
a man figure needs to be around and teach these
little boys and little girls how to be gentlemen and

(55:28):
how to be ladies, and how you know, for the
for the girls, how to be treated, you know, so
you know how to be treated whenever you try to
find your respective you know, future soulmate and so on
and so forth, and you just learn a lot from
your parents and not just you know, grandparents and aunts
and uncles as well. I have an a dominant and

(55:51):
a father figure that's always around two as well, So
big shout outs to all the fathers out there. Go
to blod blacket dot com get a late Father's Day gift.
Not much going on besides July fourth, So you know,
we are in this full swing of summer right now.
It is really hot here in Texas already. Like I've

(56:12):
said before, our spring lasts maybe about two weeks and
then it's pre summer, and then it's summer all the
way through pretty much September. And if you live in Texas,
you understand you're following out in your head right along
there with me, because you know, summer is about five
months out of our year. And I'm not even kidding.

(56:34):
It goes about May and it doesn't end til sometimes November.
I'm not even kidding too. Sometimes October is pretty warm
as well. So that doesn't for me, guys. Like I said,
I plugged the Patreon, I plugged the socials. I gave
my Twitter big shout out to buy blackout dot com,
so all all the countries as well. I know, I said,

(56:54):
I shout you out. I running out of time. I
try to make these shows at least under an hour,
you know, I know There's gonna be times where I'm
gonna talk a little bit more, but average forty five
to fifty five minutes. So you guys take care of another,
you know, one another, all you countries that you know,
we have an ocean between us, and you listen to

(57:16):
this stooge you know in Luvebing, Texas. I appreciate you
so much. You know it means the world to me
and all the diehard listeners as well. You know, you
got your Kage's and DJ fucking Kozmo, and I would
pull my boy mister Penn State and of course Mike
Ritter and Terry Minnifield, all you guys. I know I'm
missing a few of you. I'm so sorry I don't

(57:38):
have my paper in front of me, uh you know,
like double J Yeah, yeah, and Goose of course, the
Grim and Claire. I know I'm missing quite a few
of you guys. I'm so sorry I cannot find my
paper off just I usually have it ready. And of
course my family is well, you know, my cousins Sean
and Andrew. Without Andy LaFond, there being no seat, you know,

(58:01):
Bell and Chris and Art and Darien and Matt. There's
so many Rich Drew, Joe, a lot of people that
have I do it for them, you know, not just
for you funkys. I do it for them as well.
I hope to put out quality stuff for as long
as I do this, as long as I can do this,

(58:23):
that's just what I try to do, is to make
make you laugh, make you think, maybe make you mad.
Every once in a while. If I pick your team
to lose three or four games in a year, you
know this is all shitting kickles man. This is something
to tie us over into a football season. I do
believe for like ten or eleven more weeks. So you know,

(58:43):
keep counting down every Saturday that comes, start counting down,
because before you know it, man, it'll be July fourth.
Before you know it, it'll be August. And at the
end of August, man, we start the season and it
won't be long before the season's over. So you guys,
take care of one another. I love you guys so much.
And you know, hey, I got to cheers to the
haters as well. Man, And you guys, you strive to

(59:09):
make me better because if you don't have haters, that
means you ain't doing something right. And if we have
more haters and lovers, so be it. We're not going anywhere.
We take your advice with a grain of salt. We
do this because we love it, not because we don't
necessarily feel like we do a good job either. We

(59:30):
do it because we love it. We feel like we
want to put out quality stuff, and I truly feel
like we do. And this isn't easy. This isn't just like, oh,
you know, CEM just talks. I have to do, you know,
I have to make a script. I have to find time.
I have to you know, find time to hit that
record button. I got to get this show out to
Mike so you can get it published. And you know,

(59:52):
the biggest shout out to him as well, the guy
that's you know, been stirring the pot is right hand man,
you know, Terry Minfield as well. You got guys like
goosed Up Jay, Howard Poole and of course the Grim Reefer,
even Andy Lafon back in the day. If it wasn't
for all those guys that crawled, I wouldn't be able
to walk. So you know, we we do it for

(01:00:13):
you guys to certified funkies. And if you're a fake funky,
you know, all I gotta say is go fuck yourself.
And we don't need you. We don't need the haters.
I accept my haters, but we really don't need it.
But I do it for you. I do it just
to make you mad. I'll make you. I just do
it to make you look like that booty face, like
you just mad, like you just took a bite out

(01:00:35):
of a sandwich and there was a cigarette but in it,
and you just salty like. I do it for you,
not just my my lovers. I do it for haters,
and I do harder. Like I said, I ain't going.
I ain't going, seeing legend that I know who you are,
that's who you serve. You know where you're going, and

(01:00:57):
know what to do with me, and get there, monkeys.
Good night. Shout out to the haters, shout out to
my lovers, and well, I love you guys so much.
I don't care and listen, and I can't shoot you. Guys.
Know CM loves death and't have a great so I'm
gonna take care, stay out of trouble, and CM loves
you directly. Listen
