Speaker 1 (00:00):
Most investors decide in the first ten seconds whether they're
going to give you the money. The minute you walk
in the door, they're judging you. They're looking you top
to bottom. What shoes are you wearing? What pants are
you wearing? How is your hair?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
If you walk into a room and you have old tennis.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Shoes, ripped blue jeans, a T shirt on, your hair
is all messed up?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Will you get the money?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Well, it depends who the investor is and what they're
looking for. If they're a Silicon Valley investor and they're
looking for a hot tech startup by some programming genius,
you fit their definition perfectly. They're probably going to look
at you and say, that's a geek. They've probably figured
something out that nobody else has because they haven't left
their house in a month. They've just been hunched over
their computer without even time debate.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
So you wear the perfect one.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
However, if you walk with that outfit into a Wall
Street bank and you ask them to fund your next
company because you're setting up a private equity company, totally wrong.
They're going to want to see somebody in a nice suit.
They're going to want to see somebody who's wearing a
warlex watch. They're going to look at your shoes. Every matters.
If you want to get somebody's money, you have to

know what's in their head. All of us have images
of who that perfect investment is, and it's very hard
to change somebody's preconceived conceptions.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
So play the part.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
If you play the part right, your chance of getting
funded is exponentially higher.

You're the book, so make sure you have the right cover.
