(00:54):
Everyone? Welcome to the Full TimeFantasy Podcast. I am your host,
Adam Kroutwurst, and with me tonightis the champ, the man himself,
Pat Sorge. Like George, Welcometo the show tonight, my friend,
and congratulations at one hundred and fiftythousand dollars. Thank you, Adam,
appreciated, glad to be here.Yeah, no, it's it's super exciting
(01:17):
and we're gonna share some stories totonight. You know, see how your
weekend went. I'm super jealous.I was in the mix. I was
in first half a Sunday and thenit all fell apart. I saw that
gonna be So yeah, we'll reminisce. I'll cry a little bit and you
can. You can, you canrub it in my face and it'll be
a fun night tonight. We'll talkabout your team and the draft and your
(01:37):
process and all that stuff. Sowe'll have a good time tonight. But
first I want to talk about someof the playoff contests here for twenty twenty
four, The Full Time Fantasy PlayoffContest. They got some great playoff stuff
over here. Maybe you'll roll pet, maybe roll some of those winnings over
and let us try to win someof that back in this playoff contest this
year. But they got the PlayoffDraft World Championships, two hundred and thirty
(02:00):
dollars entry fees, over sixty grandin in prizes, fourteen round style style
drafts. Those are super fun. They're super super quick, and so you
know you're picking players and you knowyou get you keep the points throughout the
whole the whole playoffs. It's notonce they won and done. It's not
(02:21):
a week by week thing. Ifyou keep those points throughout the whole playoffs,
team with the most points at theend wins twenty thousand dollars grand prize.
There. I did a bunch ofthose last year. That was super
fun. That was a super funsweat as well. We also have the
Maui Madness Best Ball Playoff drafting there. You know, no more three skill
position players. It takes your twohighest scoring weeks from the playoffs, so
(02:45):
each week you accumulate points and sinceyou're only your two best weeks count,
you can do those. You canmake those rosters, build those up until
championship week so you can kind ofsit back, see what teams lost,
see what teams won, look atsome injury type stuff, and build those
teams throughout the course of the playoffs. Go and go for that, though
that's only twenty five dollars. Prizeis a trip for four to Maui.
(03:06):
I mean, who the heck doesn'twant that. I was in the mix
for one of those last year. That was fun as well. And then
the last one is the free Beatour Experts Playoff Challenge. Build yourself a
roster, beat the experts, andyou'll get yourself a mid stakes Las Vegas
CIRCA Fantasy Championship invite for next season. So lots of great stuff going on,
(03:27):
lots of twenty twenty four playoff drafts. Did you do any playoff draft
in last year? Pat? Oh? Yeah, every year. I actually
won the Maui Madness Guys on Firetwenty eighteen. Okay, didn't get to
go till after the pandemic, butright, I got there. Yeah,
no, sure, I get it. I get it. But good No,
(03:49):
that's that's awesome. Yeah. TheFFWC does such great stuff, man,
so many and a lot of it'syou know, free roles and stuff
like that. You know, scottIan, They're they're they're really good,
They're really like players. They're outhere for the players. They're about the
ROI and they really listened to everyonewho's involved. So so yeah, so
Jose and the chat says, congratspast. So yeah, dude, tell
(04:10):
me about your your weekend. Itmust have been wild. Now, obviously
I don't. I was paying attentionto my teams, right, so I'm
not locked into your team. Buttell me kind of where you started throughout
the weekend, or maybe even startfrom the beginning of the playoffs. Did
you Were you a late riser?Tell me about everything? Sure? Sure,
I had four teams in the playoffs. This was not the one I
(04:33):
had my eye on that I thoughtwas going to do anything. Sure had
another team that went twelve and zeroand then lost and got to the playoffs.
And I had Herbert and I hadRussell Wilson, and well we know
how that ended. So this teamwas was just okay all year long,
(04:57):
and the last five weeks went crazy. I think I had one hundred and
right around one hundred and eighty thefirst week, so I was there,
but you know, long way togo. Yes, second week, had
a really good weekend, and thenChristmas Monday, I had four guys going.
(05:19):
I was sixty points out of firstI had McCaffrey, I had Likely,
I had Ayuk, I had theSan Fran Kicker, and I'm thinking,
boy, I'm going to be infirst place when we end this week.
Yeah, didn't turn out that way. I was. I was like
twelve, about forty five points awaystill, so it was a little disappointed.
(05:41):
Thought I thought I'd get closer tothe top there going into the last
week. You know, I thoughtI had an outside chance. I thought
I had to score two twenty five, two thirty. I had Breeze Hall
and I had the Brown Defense, and then Amari Cooper was a surprise inactive,
(06:08):
so I threw Elijah More in there. Yeah, and by the end
of the night, I was,you know, top five, and I
had another team that was top fivealso, and thinking, okay, here
we go. Saturday happens with CDand you figure when you see a guy
(06:28):
do that, you're probably if youdon't have him, you're probably behind the
eight ball. So yeah, youknow, it was like, oh,
now I dropped, you know, and then we get to Sunday and I'm
like, Okay, let's see whatwe can do. And I get to
halftime of the first ten games andI don't have a touchdown on any any
(06:53):
of my players. I've got someyardage, I've got some catches, but
I'm like my wife asked me,you know, the ultimate optimist, and
she asked, me, how youdoing. I said, I'm in trouble.
I don't think it's going to happenthis year, you know, it
just it just ain't happening. Andthen all of a sudden, James Connor
kicks two touchdowns, likely gets twotouchdowns. He scores a late one,
(07:17):
even though even though McCaffrey wasn't playingat the time, and that was killing
me. I was climbing and I'mlike, well, we'll see, you
know, maybe maybe I'll have ashot with Jordan Love. I was like,
the only one that was going tohave a quarterback playing late. Yes,
And after that, Kansas City kickerkicked four one hundred and seventy two
(07:42):
field goals. I didn't think Ihad a chance. I know, Oh
that's brutal, isn't it. Isn'tit brutal? The kicker, not the
kicker. Yes, yeah, justto watch other guys. When when you
don't have anybody going or they're notdoing anything, it's like all right,
here we go, right right. And then then the Sunday night game came
(08:05):
on and uh it was We hada few people over and I had the
game on and I mentioned the people. I said, look, I may
not be myself tonight if Jordan Lovestarts going off and he missed it.
He missed a deep pass on thefirst play, and I'm like, oh
boy. So I had the volumeoff on the TV because I didn't want
(08:28):
to distract everybody, and I reallymy heart was going. So I'm like,
I don't want to watch this.I was honestly, I was hoping
for a third place or second place. I didn't think Jordan Love was going
to throw a thirty burger on it. I know, well, listen,
that's what it's all about. Soso you have everybody over, friend for
friends and family. Why did youyou know? When did you When did
(08:50):
you realize that that that was it? Well, when I was going to
win, or when I had achance, when when you were going to
win, when I was gonna win, Well, it was thirty to three,
and I was down point two eightand the third quarter was ending,
and I thought, oh my god, they're gonna pull them and I'm gonna
lose by point two eight. Whoa, that's sick. That's got to make
(09:13):
you want you It was terrible.I'm like they went to commercial and I'm
like turning green and I'm like, this is it. They're gonna they're gonna
pull them. So green Bay puntsor I'm sorry, Minnesota punts. Green
Bay fumbles the punt, Minnesota getsit and scores, and I was the
happiest person alive. Yeah, that'sright, that's right. And then thankfully
(09:37):
they threw a couple passes and Ijumped ahead by just enough. Dude,
that's and uh, dude, that'sso. That's so good. Now.
How so you had the fourteenth?I was the same thing. I had
a team that was in the topten all off season, all regular season,
(09:58):
and then it, uh that wasmy baby, and then it just
crashed, came you know, thekind of the three week race, and
this other team that I had kindof came flying out of nowhere, and
I was the kind of my weekendwas the opposite. I had ceedee lamb
and he went but crazy obviously Saturdaynight and I thought I got a real
shot. I had bris Hall onthat Thursday game, like, okay,
(10:20):
I have a shot. And thenSunday came and my tea, I have
the opposite. It was just, you know, I had Zay Flowers was
the only guy who did anything reallyand it was just all downhill from there
and then everyone was passing me andstuff. So I was kind of like
just trying to hold on. Butyour story just you know, you're making
that rise. Jordan Love the thirtyone to win it all. Just I'm
(10:43):
a Bears fan. That's right.Listen, the Bears will never give you
one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.Okay. I told my dad, I
said, I'm sorry, I knowyou don't want to hear this, but
you have to root for Jordan Lovetonight. That's right. That's that's absolutely
right. So dude, that's athat's a that's a really cool story.
(11:03):
Yeah, that's that and that's howit should. I was the same way.
So like I you know, forNew Year's we always have like my
wife's friends and family come over, and I'm like, babe, just let
you know, like I might belocked in the basement if this thing is
it is close here at the end. Now I knew by after the one
o'clock games it wasn't gonna happen. But obviously, like there's no Monday night
(11:24):
game, so that's that's kind ofweird, right, there's no money night
games. You know, it's justlike a just like that, it's it's
all over. Yeah yeah, butyeah no, that's that's really really cool
to have that quarterback. How muchhow much stock did you put in?
Like when you're setting your lineups, you know, everyone's trying to get an
edge, everyone's trying to get,you know, a leg up, especially
(11:46):
once you can see that week, you know coming up, you can see
who everyone kind of has how muchjust putting. I don't know who your
other quarterback was or any of yourother spots, but like, did you
have any questions about who to startgoing into the week? Did you start
different guys based on like who otherplayers were going to start in their lineups.
(12:07):
I started guys based on I hadguys injured that I couldn't play that
I had, which I'm like, yeah, he ain't playing, And then
I had Cole Kamet and I don'tnormally have multiple tight ends. I've been
playing three tight ends for weeks onthis team. And Comet was hurt,
(12:28):
it was a knee, it wassnowing. I'm like, I'm not playing
him. And then DK Metcalf alsowent into the weekend with a back injury.
So I'm like, okay, onceonce a Marii Cooper wasn't playing,
I'm like, I have to playElijah Moore. And honestly, Elijah Moore
could have scored thirty five points inthat game if he didn't hurt. That's
(12:50):
right. I'm angry. I wasright there with Jude. I had I
had a three k and I hadElijah Moore in there, and I'm like,
oh baby, let's go, let'syeah cook And he was I think
seventeen eighteen through a half like hewas ready to go. Yeah. And
so but yeah, no, Iwas. I was. I was right
(13:11):
there with you, dude. Soyeah, that that that does have an
effect, Pat like like, sometimeswe don't have any other options. Rather,
you just got to start the healthyguys, you know. Yeah,
so I had to put in JamesConnor, which turned out to be fabulous.
Yes, he was riding my benchthe whole playoffs because he had parable
matchups, and I'm like, I'vegot better options. I'm you know,
(13:33):
I'm I'm not playing him over Waddleor Reese Hall, you know. So
then it came down to no Wattle, no Comet, and I'm like,
okay, well Connor goes in andElijah Moore was the only the other one
I wanted to slot in there.I mean, I had Curtis Samuel,
but I don't really want to playhim, and uh yeah, quarterback quarterback
(13:56):
was easy because my other quarterback wasSam Howell and he wasn't playing. I
was not playing him, right right, I mean he almost didn't even play
for his NFL. You know,yes, I I he wasn't even a
thought of mine. And then Sundaymorning, I text my buddy Dan,
I'm like, what do you whatdo you think about Howell? And He's
(14:18):
like, don't put him anywhere nearyour lineup. I'm like, yeah,
that was my thought, but Ijust needed somebody to say to me,
dude, I was doing the samething. So Jack, So Jack col
Sheen and I co owned the teamsthat that we had going through and I'm
like, hey, do we startthis? He's like, no, I'm
doing what Like, do we tryto leverage? He's like, stop,
just your you know, your nervesare getting getting in the way, you
(14:41):
know, and all that type ofSo that's why it's good to have a
co owner or even like a closefriend who can kind of talk some sense
in you. Yeah. Sure,I agree. That's so funny. It's
kind of all of us kind ofhad the same, uh, the same
little little little story. But yeah, no, that's that's awesome. So
let's go back to I'm gonna showthe draft board here. Let's go back
to draft day. Now, wheredid you? Was this an online draft?
(15:05):
Did you go to Vegas this year? Pat? I didn't. I
haven't been in in probably four orfive years, but I told my wife
we're going next year. That's right, you got to strut around next year.
Come on, let's let's go.So here's your team. You picked
out of the two hols. Sothis was an online draft out? Yeah,
there we go online August twenty seven, five pm Eastern time. So
(15:26):
that's the hot spot. But soyou picked sucking did you? You said
you had how many mains? Didyou do this year? I you don't
mind me. MIDI asked you guys, you had four seven? Okay,
she had form of the playoffs, which is really great. And then did
you pick a lot from the topor from the back? Where were you
normally get drafting from? I was, I was. I was near the
top a lot and I was inthe middle. So okay, if I
(15:48):
got the chance to give McCaffrey,I took you. Okay, So that
was my that was maybe that'd bemy first question kind of as we worked
through through the roster here, II didn't pick up top a lot,
and when I did, you know, I wanted. You had very few
opportunities to get a Justin Jefferson oreven like I was more much more Jefferson
than I was Chase, and Iwas more Tyreek Hill than I like I
(16:12):
was Jefferson Tyreek Kill guy. Ididn't have much Christian McCaffrey because I was
afraid of just you know, yougot to start three receivers and you know
you can start up to five, and I didn't want to get behind at
receiver and all that type of stuff. But you didn't care. You're like,
hey, listen, give me McCaffrey. You weren't worried about injuries or
(16:33):
age or anything. You're like, let me get this guy who can be
that factor back and be the guythat gets me, you know, to
the Promised Land. Yeah. Iliked the wide receivers at the two three
turn on the front end like that, so I if I could get McCaffrey,
I was getting him, and thenI was switching up who I took.
You know, next I had anotherdraft where I got him and I
(16:56):
took Keenan Allen and I think Ican't remember, but it was. It
was another solid team because I hadMcCaffrey and two really outstanding receivers. This
team, the receivers were okay.Yeah, well the first three we were
(17:17):
fine, and you hit with thewattle kind of here and there metcalf I.
Yuke was obviously awesome for you.He was great, especially down the
stretch. Michael Thomas obviously, youknow, wasn't It wasn't what you'd hoped.
Elijah Moore wasn't even what I'd do. I had so much Elijah Moore.
He was probably my biggest not aregret because you got him in the
(17:40):
eighth, ninth round, but likethe guy that I thought was going to
be that take that next step.It just didn't happen. It didn't happen
for him, But you end upgoing there running back receiver receiver Wattle metcalf
I yuk. And then you comeback with Bryce Hall. Were you Was
that a guy you were targeting Pator was it a guy that, like,
hey listen here in the fifth roundis RB sixteen. I just want
(18:02):
him for that stretch run. Ididn't want, like, if you look
a little further, I didn't wantthe Miles Sanders, the Matson, you
know, the the Peers Cook.I was trying to stay away from them.
I figure, I got McCaffrey, let's go for a home run.
I've only I only had a haulon two teams out of you know,
(18:25):
the twelve I had or whatever.But I didn't target him. But I
saw him there and I'm like, hey, that's that's an opportunity, you
know. And then I was fortunateenough in my eyes, nobody else like
James Connor. I had him ona lot of teams this year. Yeah,
I was. I thought I wasfortunate to get Connor where I did.
Everybody else probably laughed at me whenI when I picked him but I
(18:48):
got a thing with James Connor, like like you do with Elijah Moore.
That's right, that's right. Soyeah, Bristow was a guy I was
very high on this year. Lovedhim, especially at the value you were
getting them four So I I infact had Breeze Hall on my team.
Here at the end, I'm justannoyed. I can't even say my top
ten. It's not the thirteenth patlike from one to thirteen. It's just
(19:11):
brutal, just so so growth. But I had Brief Hall on that team.
Love him. I'm gonna be draftinghim again next year. I gotta
be answer with you, dude, looking at this board, it's like,
when are we gonna start drafted again? I'm read her role like like all
these beautiful colors, like all thesedraft spots. I just can't I absolutely
can't wait. But hey, Iguess we're gonna be drafting in these playoff
(19:32):
challenges too. Over Yeah, exactlyfor sure. But but yeah, so
moving out here to the mid rounds, you know Michael Thomas Lodgemore did didn't
really hit sharp. Charbonnay was oneof those guys and I had a lot
too many, especially if you waitedon running back, and let's say you
went like even if you didn't takeConnor, if you went like two running
backs and then you waited. Hewas in that range of like the handcuff
(19:53):
backs that were an injury away fromkind of smashing. He kind of he
you know, he's hitting mister inthe year, wait for that Kenneth Walker
injury. Walker goes down sharp andhe's okay, but then Charbonnay gets hurt.
So it's like if he kind oflost his opportunity there, and so
he was a little disdisappointing, butI like kind of the thought process behind
it. Yeah. It was thesame way him and Jeric McKinnon were on
(20:17):
a lot of my teams for thatsame reason. You're saying, you know
they can play, they can gethot and get you twenty points. Yeah,
just an injury. And that waswhere you know, I was looking
Roshan Johnson. He was my guythere too, Like, man, he's
an injury away, and then hegets the injuries he needs, but he
gets hurt. He gets a questionlike a three week Listen. I'm not
(20:40):
of course he was hurt, andI certainly don't go out there if you
have a brain injury, but manlike nowadays, no one is out for
three weeks where they can cussion,he loses the opportunity. I had Rochan
on a lot of teams too, being a Bears fan. I saw him
in the preseason. I'm like, this guy's for real and too bad.
The coach just didn't think that, and the injuries bug got him at the
(21:03):
worst time. Man at the worsttime. So here you got Angrim and
Everett. Now as we get lower, I don't know who you ended up.
I love seeing Sean Talker here.I had a ton of shots to
Sean Talker. Didn't didn't work out, obviously, but taking stabs at those
running backs at RB sixty and thefifteenth round is fine. Did you end
up with Ingram? Obviously? Youkept Ingram and Everett? Were they kind
(21:23):
of your guys all year? Nomentioned Ingram? I kept all year.
Everett I dumped when he got hurtthe first time. I picked up Comet
early on like week four, Ithink, and then I added Isaiah.
Likely when Andrews got hurt, likefor thirty dollars or something crazy, nobody
(21:48):
took him. I couldn't believe Igot him, and I was like,
well, a third tight end Idon't really need, but it worked out
because ever, you know, withall the other injuries and the it's why
I to play in in the ff w C. As you get those
two flexes and you can build ateam however you want. You can get
four running backs and start them allevery week, you can get three.
(22:11):
I played three dang tight ends forthree weeks. I mean it's crazy.
Yeah, no, it's really cool. I I completely agree with you.
Some of my highest scoring teams inthe in the Circle Las Vegas Championship,
I did a bunch of those. Some of my best teams, I started
four running backs pat like it justhappened where I would get like that because
I had a lot of Kyrine WilliamsI would pick up. And now now
I've got Kyrien Williams and three otherbacks that are that are hitting like you
(22:36):
know, and and I drafted QuentinJohnston like okay, he stinks I'm not
starting him over one of these likea Jerome Ford. So like the starting
four running backs, which is like, you know, a swear word at
the f fw C. The thoughtof starting four I know a four letter
word over over here. Uh,but yeah, no, you're you're right.
And the thing is, you know, it's so funny like when you
draft and the fw C like ithas its own it's its own world,
(23:02):
like it's in its own bubble oflike you can get quarterbacks later. Perfect
example. You know, I'm lookingfor for Jordan Love. I don't even
think he was even drafted in yourdraft. He was bottom right in the
nineteenth round. By the eleventh ohyou know what, I can't even see
it. Yeah, okay, yeah, and that guy dropped him and I
(23:22):
picked him up and didn't play himfor most of the year. There he
is. Yeah, I made myscreen. Yeah that's right. He was
second the last pick. Yeah, incredible, just just wow. Like so
you can get quarterbacks later here, you can get running backs a little later
on normal. So if you wantto build that way again, it's scary
because all the receivers are gone, and if you don't hit on one of
(23:45):
those guys like in the mid inthe mid rounds, like an like an
eighth or ninth round pick, likea Jacobe Myers to get you through or
whatever, it's really really tough, you know, and you had a tough
league here to me Gibson. Ithink Dave was this Danny's team that was
in the top here at the end. I know he had two. No,
this was a different one. Okay, they were there, yeah,
(24:07):
Danny and here with you yet zc Riley. I see everywhere miss miss
new booties everywhere in all the highestthree K and five k'sy, honeycut I
mean you, well, a reallytough draft room. Mister Lilas is in
there too, and uh he wasthe one who finished in second place.
Oh it was this, it wasthis draft here. It wasn't this team.
(24:29):
It was a different But he uh, he's always up there too.
I try to avoid him in drafts. Yeah, we'll try to avoid him
out. He's not super thrilled,so I know. But that dude's a
player. He beats the hell outof me every time I play against him.
Scene. He's like, well,he's he's a grinder, like a
(24:49):
lot of the a lot of theguys with w C Man are like big
boy grinders that are just that arecoming for you, you know what I
mean. And it's just the way. You gotta gotta be on waivers every
week, you got it. Yougotta be ready to go draft rooms.
Like. The cool thing too aboutthe f FWC, man is it's such
like a it's a there's a lotof teams, but it's a small kind
(25:11):
of community, so everyone knows howeverybody drafts, and it's just like if
you're not ready to go, guysare sniping you. It's it's wild in
these sea so good, so much, so much fun. So now,
did you ever obviously I can't seeyour your your final roster here, did
you have any like big pickups duringthe year, Like any pickups that you
(25:33):
had that kind of pushed you through? I mean I had guys Love obviously.
Well yeah, yeah, I meanI started four different quarterbacks this year.
I'm like the Cleveland Browns. Imean, the two tight ends and
Jordan Love were about it. Really, I you know, I pieced together
(25:56):
guys and thankfully during the year onthis squad, I didn't have a ton
of injuries, you know. Yeah, I mean you look at my draft
and ten of the guys really weren'ton my team halfway through the year.
I only ten of them ended upon the squad at the end of the
year, basically, So I meanI always turned my rosters sometimes too much,
(26:21):
and then I go, oh,should have kept that guy one more
week. But I mean I didn't. I didn't get a kyri In.
I didn't. I you know whoI got. I got Zach Evans for
five hundred and sixty seven dollars. That's who I got. Listen, you
can't take it with you. Youcan't taken the money with you. You're
not as well, dude. Iwas a Zach. I was just Listen.
You're always picking up running backs. It doesn't matter like, oh,
(26:45):
he's gonna stink, who care?Like pick him up? Like see what
happens every running backs and injury awayfrom being the guy. You know,
that's that's that's the right move todo. Keep picking up those guys for
sure. But yeah, even yousaid it, dude, like this wasn't
your This wasn't the team that youhad planned that you had locked in on,
right, Like you draft the betterteams, you know and stuff,
(27:07):
and there may have been teams evenin this draft that were better that just
didn't get hot at the right time, at the right moment, and you
have to coach him up. Yougot to start the right guy too.
He got to start the right theright players. And so because yeah,
it's it's like it's Christian mccatt now. But that's the advantage to having that
top pick. You get a guylike McCaffrey or a healthy Jefferson or whatever,
(27:29):
or a healthy Tyreek Hill, andyou can lean on those guys man
third, forty fifty point weeks.Yeah, they're a guy and a half
on your roster every week. That'sright, And that's a great way to
look at That's what I always talkabout when we're in draft season, right,
Like Christian McCaffrey, you take him, he's a running back and a
half, Like you don't need tofollow him up, you know, And
you waited three rounds before you tookanother one. And it's like you can
(27:52):
wait when you get that McCaffrey early, you know, you can really wait
to get that second or third onetoo. And so it's gonna be interesting.
Pat. I mean, we're lookingat this board, you know,
Echeler, bust, Bijon as theRB three, Bust Pollard massive, bust,
Barkley, no Henry, no Chubb, injury Jacob. Like I'm looking
(28:14):
at like next year, like whereare we gonna where are the running backs
gonna go? Who are they gonnabe BJ will be back up there again.
You know, maybe j T getsback up the Gibbs, my guy
Gibbs who I had the yeah, will be up there et N, maybe
Greesaw Kyron, Like how high ishe gonna go? Like Iron? Yeah?
I mean people are talking about himfirst round next year already. I'm
(28:36):
like, it's crazy, dude.I mean, he's the probably the Fantasy
MVP this year. I mean,he was like the number two scoring running
back. He missed like five gamesor something. I know I had him
on every team last year. Lastyear, I was certain about him.
This year, I'm like when whenyou know, in September when Akers was
doing his thing, and I'm like, nah, I'm gonna pay on him,
(29:00):
right, I'm gonna wait for ZachEvans. That's right, That's absolutely
right. But uh so, kindof compared to you, so your portfolio
with teams you had, you hadseven you said or whatever it was,
do you normally are you a guythat looks to diversify a little bit?
Like what do you like? Areyou? Like? No, if I
(29:22):
get to if I get the twopick, I'm taking McCaffrey in all seven,
Like, what's your what's your thought? Thought process. I try to
diversify. I usually don't get toppicks for some reason. You know.
I always complained to Scott about that. He says, it's random. Yeah,
I know, I'm randomly eleven, right, But no, this year,
I I kind of got lucky andgot a few where I was up
(29:45):
there. Last year, I hada lot of playoff teams and didn't do
swat in the championship rounds because Ihad the same guys on too many teams.
Everybody let me down at the sametime, and I said, I'm
not doing that again, you know. So I did diversify. That was
(30:07):
why I grabbed Paul where I grabbedhim, you know, that was why
I took Ayuk. I don't haveAyuk on another team, but you know,
there's certain guys I need a pieceof. It's the advantage of you
know. I mean, if youput one entry in and you win this
whole thing, man, good foryou. But I like to have five
or six chances at it if Ican, because you're gonna have injuries,
(30:30):
you're gonna have guys underperform, andyou gotta diversify. Yeah. Absolutely,
And I know people who have wonnational contest with one entry, and that's
super impressive slash super lucky, youknow, and lucky either way, that's
right. And then there's people whowrite, oh yeah, I mean there's
listen, I've been talking about itsince week two or three. There's more
(30:55):
luck. There's more balls to jugglenow than ever before. I mean,
and I thought it was beg duringCOVID. We had two years of COVID
that, like you would, youhad to carry four quarterbacks because a guy
enough to get off the plane Sundaymorning and have a you know, sniffle,
and they wouldn't play it. Sobut now we're into the midd where
everyone's getting hurt all the Friday.I hate Fridays, man, How many
times you guys pull a hamstring ona Friday? Like what I know,
(31:18):
you know, elite athlete, youknow, you know who never pulls a
hamstring? Guys like you and IPat, we never pull it a sandwich,
don't. I don't run fast enough. I don't make sandwiches fast enough
to pull apparently, so uh butuh, excuse me. Yeah, it's
just getting that time of year, man, where you got to play multiple
(31:40):
teams. You got to have multiplestrategy and not multiple straighter with multiple players.
That's why I mean I picked alot at the the at the one
to two turn this year, Ihad a lot of like get Garrett Wilson
was my guy again injury to thequarterback. I Garret Wilson will be my
guy again next year. I thinkhim and Rogers or whoever are gonna be
real were really good together. Iwas a Garrett Wilson guy. I'm on
(32:02):
Ross Saint Brown, a CD Lamb, a J. Brown. So I
was just kind of mixing up likethat, you know, all the different
combinations of those guys, and thoseguys were fine. Uh, the running
backs in that range stock I mean, you know, I mean, I
mean Bijon ended up being okay, but in some of the big money weeks
he really killed you. Yeah. But yeah, just just freaking brutal at
(32:22):
some of those some of those turnsthere. Uh yeah, So no,
it's it's it's really really, reallygreat stuff. But so you're coming out
to Vegas next year, right,uh to kind of show off talking around
at a little bit. It's thebest I don't know when the last time
you were there was, but it'sthe best drafting experience. Now. Yeah,
(32:44):
they have top golf and all thattype of stuff. Right, Yeah,
I did it for years, Ithink seven eight years in a row,
and then you know, you getold crosty and you just want to
want to draft from your basement. That's right, that's right. No,
I totally, I totally get that. Did you do any midstakes this year?
Just more? Yeah? I haduh? I had four teams in
(33:07):
the mid stakes. Uh. Onlyone made the playoffs and it was a
five to six running back team Ihad. I had Breeze Hall, I
had h H and I had JeromeFord. All of a sudden, I
had Camara. It was like,I'm looking at this team and I'm like,
(33:27):
how am I losing? I didn'teven win the playoff round because I
had Jerome Ford on the bench forthe four other guys, you know,
right, right? But yeah,I love I love both of them.
I like to focus more on themains, but I like to do the
the other ones as the warm upskind of to get my draft feet.
(33:47):
Yeah. I think you have to. You gotta, you gotta kind of
what your whistles, so so tospeak, and get see what the rooms
are doing, see what the guysare doing. Test, test, you
know, gone of the day ofthe of the true mock drafts where you
get on the internet and go toyou know, do a mock draft and
be able to figure out. Now, you know, guys are guys.
You are much more sharp. Uhnow, but yeah, this and and
(34:10):
I can't help myself too minutes. It's a summer night, and Scott will
out putting the discord. Hey oneleft the film? Oh God, all
right, fine, another one?But uh but God always texts me,
Yeah, please help me, Igot one left. I know you're awake,
right, Scott, Scott blocked.Scott's gonna block my number like the
(34:31):
month of July or something like. That's where we get all. That's where
we get caught up. But butbut yeah, dude, I mean draft
the next year is gonna be gonnabe fun. Did you go off Did
you go off track this year withany of your like kind of strategies going
in? Are you normally I seeyou waited on tight end, you waited
on quarterback? Is that normally yourthing? Is that something that you employ
(34:53):
every every year? It depends.I mean I waited on quarterback this year.
I Kirk Cousins on a ton ofteams and I love getting him in
the thirteenth round. You know, you can build so many running backs and
wide receiver that way. I generallytried to get a tight end, you
know, if I could get Kittleor better kind of was where I was
(35:17):
at always. Thankfully I didn't touchDarren Waller this year. He just scared
me. But I usually try toget a tight end there and wait on
quarterback. You know, I'm usuallythe last guy getting a quarterback. Normally,
I like, that's that, that'sme too. But man, at
f FWC, they I feel likemaybe it's because I draft everywhere. Is
(35:42):
that Like I get a knees andI'm like, man, Josh Allen in
the middle of the fourth round orthe fifth, yeah, and I'm like,
oh, I can't do that.I mean, I can't pass,
especially if I've got Digs. I'mlooking at this team, miss new Booty
in this draft was digs in thefirst Oh yeah, and so oh tight
end though I'm right there with it. It's funny that you say Kittle because
that was kind of my like cutoff Kiddle, Like, hey, if
(36:06):
Kittle's there in the eighth or soundedlike sure, I'll go Kittle, you
know, especially like Waller question marks, Kyle Pitt's question marks. Hacketson obviously
ended up being incredible. You know, Unfortunately, you know, we don't
know when he's going to be comingback with the torn knee and all that
type of stuff, But Andrews goesdown. So yeah, Kittle ended up
(36:27):
being a really nice piece down thestretch. If you ended up drafting him
in DJOKU, I mean, comeon, that guy, that guy was
a monster. Yeah, he's anotherguy I can't quit. I had him
on a lot of rosters. Wherewere you on rookie tight ends this year?
So for me, one of mylike hard and fast rules forever has
(36:49):
always been, never, under anycircumstances take a rookie tight end for all
the reasons that we all know. They just even their best years aren't great
years. And the Shear was theyear that I maybe it's because I'm a
Bills fan, and the Bills wentKincaid and I'm like, you know what,
I think you're gonna play a littlebit more receiver and all that.
So I had I had Laporter onthat team that was trying to chase you
(37:10):
down. I had some some Kinkaid, So I had some rookie tight ends.
Where are you on rookie to tightends? I was the same way
you just described. I did getpieces of Kincaid this year because I looked
at him as their second wide receiver. Basically, that's what they were saying
in camp, and I was eatingit up. And then they start playing
(37:32):
and Dawson Knox is out there gettingthree targets and Kincaid's getting four and right,
so there was one of my mains. I actually dropped Kincaid. Yeah,
and I picked him up the nextweek for like one hundred and fifty
fab And I'm like, man,I'm an idiot, But well, if
you dropped him at the right time, like if you dropped him down the
(37:53):
stretch, it was the right move. I mean he just like you said
once when once Knox came back,Yeah, I mean I you know,
you know, everyone was applauding. And again I'm Western New York. Everyone's
applauding the Bills for using their rookietight end. The only they the only
reason they were using him was becauseKnox was hurt. And sure enough Knox
comes back and he's getting more playingtime than King King, Like, oh
(38:15):
my god, here here we goagain. Yeah, I sadly didn't get
he could be tight end number onenext year. Absolutely, that's gonna be
fun, right Pat, trying tofigure out Kelsey's You could tell these slower,
and I think the offense is goingto transition next year. I me,
Kansas City has such an opportunity tolike, I mean, Mahomes is
(38:37):
pissed. You know that they're not. All the receivers are dropping passes and
they've got their receiving course horrific.I mean, Rice is a nice young
player, but like they've got Icould see them going to get Higgins and
they've got so much room to growin that way, I could see Kelsey
kind of fading out at least ofthe of being a top three to tight
end. Yeah, yeah, youknow so. But all right, I've
(38:59):
kept you for like forty minutes here. Congratulations again winning the day and uh
and dude, well hopefully I'll seeyou in Vegas. Uh yeah, nine
months that will be fun. Butbut but yeah, thanks again for joining
me tonight, Pat, and sorryeveryone for the technical difficulties, and make
(39:22):
