the Fantasy Football World Championship, home to the industry's most
accurate rankings.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
What is up? Everybody?
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Welcome to the Full Time Fantasy Podcast. I am your
host Adam Kroutwurst, and with me today recording on this
Friday afternoon is mister full Time himself, Jody Smith.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
What is up? My friend?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
What's up?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:01):
It's a three day weekend for everybody, right before the
football season kicks off. Cheez, Is there anything going on
and we should talk about?
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Right? Seriously?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Everyone's everyone's uh diving into their drafts. I love you know,
you know me? I draft like every minute of every day.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
It's funny.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
This is the weekend where all my long lost friends
come out. I started getting text messages from all my buddies.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Hey, who should I take you?
Speaker 3 (01:22):
So, guys, just check out Jody's and Mind's articles and
stuff on Full Time.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
You'll be fine. Here's a link.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Go check go, go check it out, because I'm not
answering this question for all three of my friends, all
three that I have, so uh.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
But yeah, it depends on.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
It depends on if it hurts you, you know, in
your own leagues against them or whatever, like you're willing
to help them out if it's not a league that
you know it is counter to your own productivity.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
But right, and that's if it's.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
In your home league, of course you get a sandbag them.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Well, listen, I feel like I'm sandbagging you know. I
don't want a sandag when I come on the show, right, Like,
I'm so we have to talk about the guys we like,
I'm I'm competing a lot of the guys that are
listening in this and so, but you listen, that's that's
that's what I get.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I get paid to do and I love it.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
And speaking of competing, we got so we're recording this
in Friday afternoon tonight, Friday night, August thirtieth.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
We got some drafts tonight.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
We've got a Circle Las Vegas Championship tonight at seven
o'clock Eastern time. We've got a World Championship at nine
o'clock tonight. We have another World championship at ten o'clock tonight.
Both of those are gonna fill. Make sure you guys
get in those, Jody, I know, I know you've got
some tickets to spend.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Man, let's go. Let's let's get in there.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
I'm planning on getting in it at least one this weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
That's right, get in and get in at least one.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
We've got some more, you know, every night, we've got them,
and I will be live in Vegas next week. I
get out there Thursday. I got drafts Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
and then I think it's kind of kick back and
watch the fun on.
Speaker 5 (02:48):
The cool benefit about you doing that is, if I'm correct,
you guys get to draft after the Thursday game, right,
So correct Thursday, and I know we're gonna talk about
guys that we think could go off this year. But
if somebody goes off off crazy in this Thursday game,
you get you get to move them up appropriately in
your draft board, which is really really interesting.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah, and you get to kind of get that free
look like like people always talk about.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
So yeah, a little little sneak peak. So let's let
let's dive in today.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
We want to talk about some of our league winners today,
Guys that maybe you can get, maybe not too later on,
but just guys that can outperform their ADP and win
your league for you. Think Sam Laport from last year.
I think Pokinakua from last year, guys that were free,
guys that were going really late that ended up helping
you win your.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
League a lot.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I mean, listen, if you draft Christian McCaffrey at the
one on one and he goes off, he's not necessarily
win your league for you because you spent the first
pick on him. But if you get a guy late
that goes off and goes crazy, that can in your
league for you, and stack him with with McCaffrey. That's
the whole idea here. So Tody, the number one guy
here you had on your list, or at least the
unless you sent me not not not ranked in any
particular order.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
But wide receiver Malik Neighbors. Talk to me. You don't
have to convince me. I love the league, Neighbors, but
to talk to the people.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Yeah, see with Neighbors the whole draft process. He was
my wide receiver one. And I know we have Marvin
Harrison that's commanding a ridiculous ADP at this point, you know,
in the first round everywhere. But I liked elite Neighbors
right away, you know, higher than Harrison. He is a
clone for Jamar Chase. I know it's the easy comp
(04:20):
because of the LSU background, and you know the physicality
the way they play. But you look at Melite Neighbors,
this is this is a stud. A PFF's number one
wide receiver last year led FBS with fifteen hundred and
forty five receiving yards. He was second fourteen touchdowns. He
is the definition of a pro ready receiver and we've
(04:41):
seen that all summer as he's made highlight reel after
highlight reel against NFL.
Speaker 4 (04:47):
Defensive backs.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
You could argue the Giants don't exactly have that on
the roster, but when they scrimmaged and played in the
preseason with other teams, you continued to see these crazy catches.
And I feel like my Laitue Neighbors is, you know,
on the short list of guys who are going to
leave the NFL on target share next year.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
I don't, I mean this season, I don't. I don't see.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
You know, thirty percent target share is within the realm
of possibilities. And you've seen Daniel Jones, you know, just
continue to pepper him with targets every practice, every preseason game, whatnot.
Now here's the thing, of course, Daniel Jones is the
biggest question mark about elite Neighbors. But I think he
is just such an alpha receiver that he's going to
(05:32):
be able to overcome the questionable quarterback play. And you know,
he's a guy that his ADP is not low. You
know you said at the top of the show, we're
talking about guys you can draft light. Well, he's not late.
I mean, he has just continually risen up the draft board.
It's not unusual to see him go anywhere from by
receiver fifteen to twenty. So it's going to cost a
(05:53):
premium investment to get Neighbors on your team. But as
they always say, up wins championships you're looking.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
For you've got to take these risks.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
And when you have the opportunity to get an an
elite talent like Neighbors, got to take him over these
safer picks. And then the final thing is looking at
the f f toolbox Strength of Schedule tool, which is
one of our most popular features at Full Time Fantasy.
The Giants have the number four easiest schedule for wide
receivers this game this season. That includes two games each
(06:26):
against the worst two secondaries last season in Philadelphia and Washington,
and looking at the tool. He has the number one
easiest schedule during the Fantasy playoffs one week's fourteen through seventeen.
So I'm all aboard Mylik Neighbors as a potential wide
receiver one right away.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, No, I love everything you just said. I love
Thelik Neighbors. He plays angry, he plays with a chip
on his shoulder. You can close your eyes. You could
see Milik Neighbors being a top seven fantasy receiver.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
It's top five fantasy.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Receiver just from the target line. People are Daniel Jones stinks. Yeah, well,
if he can get one hundred again, it's not out
of the possibility. He gets one hundred and sixty to targets.
That sounds crazy, but there's nobody else there. And when
Brian Dabole and Buffalo had Stefan Diggs, he got those
type of target shares and elite. Neighbors is a better receiver,
maybe his first year, but he's a better receiver than
(07:16):
Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
So I like I like it.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
I mean, you said he's not going late. He's going
to a little higher now. But still, if you're getting
the league Neighbors in round three as wide receiver, seventeen
eighteen or something. He can still certainly pay off at
that for sure. I'm excited about Milik Neighbors as well.
All right, moving on to a guy that I like
as a league winner. This guy reminds me of a
league winner we had that it was last year. Kien
(07:41):
Williams last year was a league winner. I think Blake
Korum this year could be this year's Kien Williams for
the same reasons. I think Kyrien Williams is undersized abut
one hundred and ninety five pounds, missed five games last season,
suffered a high ankle sprain, all these other other things.
You know, Blake Korm gets Round three draft capital, and
(08:01):
I think Korum, just on face value as a prospect,
is a better prospect, a better player than Kyen Williams
was coming out of college. Kyro got a massive injury
his rookie year, so he's he's a banged up running
back that that I will admit Sean McVay loves, but
maybe loves him too much. Can returning punts now, Like,
(08:21):
that's never a good sign. When you're starting. In quotations,
running back becomes the putt returner. I like Blake Korum
in that value role. You take Blake Korum in the
ninth or tenth round, you stash him, and then when
Kyrien Williams goes down he's undersized, he usually always does
returning punts, all that type of the type of stuff.
(08:42):
You can just slide Blake Korman into your starting lineup.
You have yourself a top ten running back in the tenth.
In the tenth round, projections rise, Jody. I know, as
a projections guy, you can't project him for that, but
from just looking at the role, I could see Korum
being a league winner in the tenth.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
It's hard to argue. You know.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
When I did my my pre season scouting report for Korum,
I came across as DeVonta Freeman.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
And that goes back a little ways.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
If you've been playing Fantasy for ten years, remember a
little undersized back was fine from from a speed standpoint,
but he was an underrated pass catcher. And once he
actually started getting a eighteen to twenty four touch role,
he became a Fantasy Star Wars every year. You know,
when he was on the Falcons in his prime, and
it's all about that opportunity. You know, this week we
(09:32):
saw the news that Kylen Williams is going to be
returning punts, and that kind of started, you know, a
little controversy here in the fantasy room because did it
mean like, well, you know, Sean McVay just wants to
get the ball into the hands playmakers, or did it mean, hey,
you don't see starting running backs return. So this seems
(09:54):
like a really really troubling to me.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
It's a little scary.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
You know, definitely dropped Kyle in a few spots in
my rankings, and I boosted Blake Koram's projections. But you know,
and another thing to like about Quorum her I don't
normally advocate for hand handcuffing my own running backs, but
in this case, it makes too much sense.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
And it's actually pretty.
Speaker 5 (10:14):
Easy because you're able to get Quorum Adam, you know,
so late, and drafts are able to get him as
you know, RB forty, RB thirty five, RB forty five
somewhere in that rain. So you've already you got your
starters and at this point that's what you're reaching for,
is uh, you know, upside picks. And again I'll mention
the FF toolbox strength of schedule tools very often, but
(10:36):
the Rams have the number one easiest strength of schedule
for running backs, So that's going to benefit Quorum, It's
going to benefit Kyrin Williams and all that.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
No disagreement for me. I haven't been fortunate.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Enough to get too much Korum because you're not the
only one who's excited about him. You know, understandably, you know,
with the way he played for Michigan last season. So again,
you know, I'll sign off on it. If he's a
guy that you can get in your eighth, ninth, seventh,
tenth round or whatever, you know, by all means, go
(11:09):
out and get.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Him, Yes, sir, Yes, sir.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
Speaking of another rookie quarterback, Jaden Daniels, talk to me
about having him be in a league winning type play
for you.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
See, that's the thing with me. Quarterback is just so
incredibly deep this season. As we're getting closer to the season,
it's not I've been saying multiple times on this show,
on any show that I've done that I feel like
there's probably twenty two quarterbacks like I win with. Well,
I've kind of narrowed that list. I no longer considered
Deshaun Watson a guy that I could you know, at
one point this offseason when he projected to be healthier,
(11:43):
Maybe that's a guy I could pencil it no longer.
So that list has maybe been tremmed a little bit.
But long story short, I'm generally waiting on quarterbacks. I'm
not really interested in a you know, the top tier
josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson type players, and they
were to slip into round you know, the back end
of five, maybe the top of six, and that never happens.
(12:06):
So what I'm looking for is that second and third
tier of quarterbacks, and I'm reaching for upside. And that's
what you get with Jaden Daniels. You know, the reigning
Heisman Trophy winner. You look back and what he did
in college. I mean at LSU, you're talking about, you know,
another potential superstar in that and that ace runner, Lamar
(12:28):
Jackson type of athlete. Averaged over seventy seven rushing yards
a game. But that's He's not a one trick pony.
He was a Pro Football focused number two rated pure
passer last season forty touchdowns, four interceptions. I mean, the
kid can play. You convert his college numbers to an
NFL quarterback r and he can get one forty three
(12:48):
point seven that led all of FBS. The weapons in
Washington right away, Terry McLaurin, zach Ertz, then Sennett, Austin Eckler,
Brian Robinson.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
It's not bad.
Speaker 5 (13:00):
It's a middle of the road supporting casts other than
Terry mccorn. There's some question marks at quarterback, but what
you do love is the system. He's walking right into
a Cliff Kingsbury offense. As you may remember, Cliff Kingsbury
coached a QB seven out of Kyler Murray as a
rookie a few years back. Washington also has thirteenth strength
(13:21):
of schedule rated easiest. I said that all backwards, but
still it's an above average easy schedule for Washington. Again
playing in NFC East where you've got a couple of
questionable secondaries there. So it's reaching for upside and that's
what we're doing when you're talking about breakouts, and that's
what you have with Jaden Daniels. I think he's going
to potentially come into the league right away and contend
(13:44):
for He's definitely a QB one, but I think he's
a candidate to contend for QB top five QB numbers
right away, and that's why I consider him one of
my must have breakout quarterback targets in that second and
third tier.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
You're playing all my hits today.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Jody gen Daniels the guy I've been on since since
the beginning, and when it comes to drafting, man, that's
how you win these big tournaments. You get guys like
Jayden Daniels in the tenth eleventh round. My best year's
ever in tournaments and cash games, and the years I've
made the most money is when I took Josh Allen
coming off a rookie year in the eleventh round, Patrick
Mahomes in the eleventh round. My best year ever was
(14:23):
Lamar Jackson eleventh round.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Ten to eleventh round.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
He would the MVP in twenty nineteen. Like, that's how
you win big in these leagues. Jayden Daniels, is it
this year? You know you're talking about his rushing numbers
in college. You know his best rushing seasons last season
had one thousand, hundred and fifty rushing yards compared to
like Jalen Hurts his thirteen hundred, Anthony Richardson seven hundred
and thirteen, Lamar seventeen ninety five, He's right in that
mix with those guys. He might have fallen short of
(14:46):
them in yards, but he had a ninety two rushing
grade in that season, and he also crushed them in
yards per carry hid ten yards of carry. He's an
elite runner, Jody, and he has an elite deep ball
touch accuracy saw on a deep ball in the preseasons
to Miami Brown. He is going to be it this season.
He's the guy that I'm that I'm looking to build around.
(15:07):
You know, if you're worried about him being a rookie quarterback,
maybe being a little small with injuries, just go take
a to take another quarterback after him. Go ahead and
waygo get yourself a Brock party later on, or a
Trevor Lawrence or even wait even longer if you want
to do that. But every week you're gonna want to
roll this guy out there and start him. I completely
agree with Jade with with jade Ganinnis for that. I'm
super I'm super excited about about him moving on to
(15:31):
the running back position or back to the running back position.
A guy I'm really excited about this year is va
Javata Williams. He's a guy that he's another guy that's
been steaming up boards. And you know we started in
the spring.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
He was RB thirty three, RB thirty four and ADP.
Now to make sure.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
You get in, you gotta take him around RB twenty
to twenty one. They're saying he looks better than ever.
And of course his rookie year he was great, gets injured.
Last year's coming off the injury, coming off the ac
ac Al, and he was still they still worked him
into that, into that workhorse role. He looks better than
ever this year, playing for a contract and in an
offense that is so fantasy friendly to pass catching running backs.
(16:11):
He had to hit a receiving touchdown in the preseason
game called back because Knicks is just over the line
in scrimmage. That just goes to show you the excited
to be excited about what he can offer in the
passing game. I think he can be a workhorse back there.
I get it's hard to project him for high touchdown
volume in that offense, but if bow Knicks is any
good at all and Peyton can get anything out of him,
(16:31):
I think you might see a better than expected offense.
It's gonna be in shootouts, it's gonna have Kansas City twice.
Raiders defense stinks, so it's gonna it's gonna have some
situations where they can put up some points. Javonte Williams
in your eighth round, if you can get him around
RB twenty eight, absolute league winner at that at that price.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
The value is still there with them.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
And Adam, this is where you know, you and I
are gonna, I don't know that disagree backfield, because we're
going to talk about my next uh you know, potential
league winner breakout here next. It's it's that we don't know,
we don't know what the usage is. You you said
how Gervontai Williams had a you know, kind of depressed
ADP earlier, and then we saw the way in the
(17:16):
preseason games like that they had the touchdown reception that
I think I got called back, but fact he was
on the field, the fact that he looked pretty good,
and there's been some talk that that Sean Payton now
views him as you know, potential three down back, very exciting.
He looks way healthier, like he's got his burst and
(17:36):
maybe potentially the tackle breaking ability that he lacked last year.
And you go back to twenty one where he was
one of the better backs in the league.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
About that.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
It's promising, But you know, I've been rather than take
that chance on Gervonte Williams, who I've seen ranked as
high as RB fourteen and in some places some people
that I really respect. So it's maybe really like circle
back and wonder if I'm missing the boat here, But
I've been finding myself more likely to take Jilli McLoughlin,
(18:10):
who was a guy that I really liked last year.
But it's Scott Barrett, you know, personal friend of mine.
You know, well, we all know who he is. Put
out a really interesting tweet a day or two ago,
and he talked about how Sean Peyton his usage over
the years has been really interesting because it's the RB
two who has really thrived in Sean Payton's offense. If
(18:32):
you'll remember that, I believe the Saints had mark ingram
as their starter and then they took Alvin Kamara and
he took the lead by storm. Kind of as an
RB two, it's just a pass catching back that goes
Darren Sproles put up big numbers, Reggie Bush put up
huge numbers for the Saints. As these secondary backs, like
(18:52):
Scott said, they averaged like thirteen point eight fantasy points
per game. Every Sean Payton offense has been top five
in the running back targets. You're looking at Samash p
Ron who was just released this week. He ranked eighteenth
last year with fifty six targets. Those are now all
accounted for. I'm envisioning that it's McLaughlin who is like
(19:15):
the most productive back in NCAA history. I'm envisioning him
as being the main benefactor of those looks. But you know,
circling back, if Javonte Williams is actually a legitimate three
down back, and we just talked about how he could be,
that moves Javonte Williams into potential superstar, like you were
just saying territory. McLaughlin was PFF's number three graded pass
(19:39):
catcher last year for all running backs with twenty five
plus targets.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Williams was twenty six. So he's a little better and
that range.
Speaker 5 (19:48):
And like you mentioned about bo Nix, So here's what's
so promising. We already know bo Nicks is going to
be a starter. No quarterback in college was more productive
when it came to throwing behind the ball behind the
line of screement's two running backs. It was a staple
of what bo Nicks did at Oregon, and of course
that's a shoot staple for what Sean Payton likes to
(20:09):
doing on offense. So I think Denver it's going to
be up there, obviously a top five offense when it
comes to targeting the running backs. It's the distribution that
is the main question here. But look, if you can
still get Javonte Williams in that RB twenty eight to
thirty two range, McLoughlin you can get two three rounds later.
It's pretty easy if you're in a zero RB setup
(20:31):
to take a stab at one or both of these
guys after you've loaded up at receiver and one of them,
at least one of them, maybe, if not both of them,
one of them is going to hit Payter.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
So it's just an issue of what's your.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Preference exactly exactly. That's a good point. There's a room
to take them both.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Again, there's are league winning picks and not talking about
guys you got to spend high capital line. You can
take both play the winner there. You can get McLoughlin
a little bit later than jave Jamanta Williams.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
I let them both.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
I just like this as like a sneaky offense that's
going to be better than people think. I think, and
so that'll be fun to really to see how that
that plays out.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
I'm probably overweighted.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
I probably have to stop drafting Javata Way and maybe
maybe I'll start drafting mcloffin instead, because I just I
just I have so much Javata Williams. But but yeah,
so that that was that was one of your league winners,
jalil My Givanta. That'll be fun to see how that
plays out. But Taysom Hill for you, my friend, give
me talk to me about Taysom Hill. Are we talking
about quarterback Taysom Hill? Running back, Taysom Hill? Tight end?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Which which which one are we talking about here?
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Well, we're talking about where he qualifies as a tied
end if you were in a format, if you're in
a format that lists him as a quarterback, this is
not applicable because only in a best Ball league. You know,
if he's your QB three, is he going to get
to get the occasional start where he was better than
both your guys. And that's only probably likely to happen
if Bryce Young is your QB two and you're getting
(21:56):
the kind of production that you got out of.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Young last year.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
Where Taysom Hill can still be classified as a tight end, well,
you're talking league winning upside because he was a tight
end one in like every format last year where he
was a pure tight end and it's not necessarily on
his receiving prowess. He had a career high with forty
targets last year. He caught thirty three for two ninety
one and two touchdowns. Pretty innocuous numbers, but it's where
(22:23):
he ran four hundred and one yards and four touchdowns,
and that was actually less than he ran for the
previous season. But Taysom Hill was still able to put
up tight end one numbers with forty targets, four touchdown
runs and only eleven pass attempts. That's how valuable his
usage and roll in the red zone is. We've heard
(22:45):
Clint Kubiak and Dennis Allen this offseason talking about how
not only is Taysom Hill going to be involved, we're
coming up with more expansive packages to get him on
the field. And of course we know Derek Carr is
not been the most productive red zone passer throughout his career.
So I view Taysom Hill as a legitimate and if
(23:07):
you had, if you had, you know Derek Carr in
any DFS lineups last week, it was always so frustrated
to see him trotting off the field whenever New Orleans
got inside of five and you'd see Hill run out there.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
But it is what it is. It worked.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
It sounds like that's going to become a staple of
what the Saints are trying to do. I expect him
to actually have more involvement as a receiver, as a runner.
I don't know about the passing yet, but hey, it
as you get closer to the goal line, obviously, every attempt,
every snap out there becomes worth more Fantasy points per
(23:41):
drop back. So I view Hill he's my tight end eleven.
I have him right there repeating his tight end one
outing from last year. And he's a guy that regularly
is going undrafted or down in you know, the tight
end twenty is ranged somewhere and there, and again all
this is with an aster. You have to check your
league settings. If he's listened as purely a quarterback, none
(24:02):
of the supplies. He's only worth a very deep look
as a QB. Three and a super flex best ball. However,
where he is a tight end again, to me, take
some hill defines. Uh, you know, league winner a guy
you can get late who in all likelihood is going
to contend for tight en one numbers all season.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Absolutely, And listen who's there. Who's their goal line back? Right?
Speaker 3 (24:26):
I mean Alvin Kamara is there, but they you know they,
Kendra Miller refuses to be healthy, you know, all the things.
Speaker 5 (24:32):
Jamal Williams one of the more interesting stories, who led
the NFL in touchdowns two years ago, and then they
had to go out of their way to defy their
coach to get him one touchdown last year. So does
he have a legitimate role as a goal on runner.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
We don't know.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
No, it's not. It's today's hill. It's all good points.
Disregard if he's a.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Quarterback, but if he's, if he's eligible to tight end,
people attack it.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Attack it for for sure. All right.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
My next league winner is a guy that admittedly I
haven't been able to get a lot in drafts for
where he's been going, but hey, there's still time for me.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
I got a lot of drafts left.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Christian Watson is a guy that I think can be
a league winner. What are we looking for guys that
are later on in the draft, Guys that if everything
goes right for them, they can they can pop and
they can win you a championship. Man two years ago,
the guy was a touchdown machine. He's I think, and
I don't think many people would argue this. Maybe you
with Jody that he's the most talented and as the
(25:26):
most upside talent wise in in this pact Green Bay
Receiving Corps.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
You know, he's been had major, major issues with his hamstrings.
They found this offseasons of testing was done.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
He had asymmetry and his leg muscles, which is leading
to reoccurring, reoccurring issues that they've been working on with
with him.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
So it's not just this weird like unlucky.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
He's he's had some issues there and if they can
figure that out, man, he could be he can be
really really good. Green Bay's target distribution week throat five
the week thirteen. He was number one with forty nine
targets last season in his healthy weeks in that receiving court.
And then if you get if he stays healthy and
you get an injury to one of those other receivers
man with Jordan Love. He could really really pop only
(26:10):
twenty five years old, six four, two hundred and eight pounds,
runs like the wind blows for three six, all the
talents there. If he could just stay healthy, have some
things break right for him. This offense, Jordan Love was
awesome last year too. I think he could really pop.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Yeah, agree, I find myself.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
We talked before he went on the air that I
was actually higher on Dobbs and Watson and I'm a
little lower on Jayden Reen And and that's been a
little bit from the usage that we've seen this summer.
Doesn't necessarily mean that's how it's going to play out,
but it's been Watson and Dobbs who have been in,
you know, on an eleven personnel or in two wide sets.
(26:51):
That's what we've seen. We haven't seen Jayden Reid playing
as much. The biggest the biggest point that I love
that you brought up was that they found out why
he's been having so many issues with his hamstring. A
lot of times we're not able to ever find it out.
Guys are just plagued by the same hamstring or growing
(27:12):
injuries throughout their whole career, and we never find out why.
In this case, again, you had an asymmetry in size,
so you know, allowed him to potentially work out whatever
side he needed to bulk up versus the other one.
So hopefully that got things in order. I know, I
wrote up some really really interesting stats. I think in
my preseason pro I listed Christian Watson as my comeback
(27:36):
player of the Year. I have some great stats and
great data in there. Can't remember it off the top
of my head because lord knows, I'm having to adjust
so much data and stats here, you know, on the
final weekend before you know, we kick off the record thing.
But very favorable numbers for Watson when it comes to targets,
per rout run and just his his eight all this
(28:00):
kind of thing is really really good stuff.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Like I said in my.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Preseason pro, which is free, by the way for anyone
to watch. But I find myself, like I said, right now,
I have Watson as my number one Green Bay Packer
wide receiver to target. So obviously, you know, I feel
like he as a top forty wide out has league
winning potential, especially because you know everyone's still you know,
(28:24):
I can understand why people are wary of drafting him again.
But again a sixteen seventeen game. Christian Watson. We've seen
in the past what he can do, and that's the
definition of league winner.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yeah, for for sure.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
And like like I said, I think he's he's the
most talented back there.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
I think he's got the said HiT's right.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
But everybody loved him going to I mean he was
going like the third round last year, four fourth round,
just based on that obviously, reading know how good Jaden
Reed was gonna be and Jane Reid's good, and I
like Jayan Read a lot, but if but you know,
he really realied I touchdowns a lot last season, and
so if Watson can steal some of the some of
those touchdowns away, I think he has a chance to
(29:05):
certainly take that over for sure. And a guy that
can get pretty pretty fairly priced in some and some.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Of the drafts too.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
So all right, one of my last guys here, a
league winning type guy. I got a guy that can
get later on, that's going for free as far as
starting running backs are concerned, has the backfield to himself
for a while. That's running back Jerome Ford for the Browns.
The best running back there, Nick Chubb out obviously still
(29:33):
still recovering from that devastating knee injury last season. Haven't
heard a timetable on that yet, but I'm sure he'll
start on the pup the very very least. And then
Jerome Ford, Listen, he's a he's a smaller, faster back,
new offense there under I forget he's forgetting his name
off according to there for the for the Browns right now,
(29:54):
kick and Dorsey wants to spread it out, wants to
have a smaller, quicker back. That's Jerome Ford. He's gonna
have that back field to himself to start the season.
He's almost going free.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Man.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
You're able to get him in like the tenth and
eleventh round of your drafts, a guy you can plug
into your starting line as a starting running back for
the first at least four or five six weeks of
the season, not knowing when Chubb's gonna come back.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
And listen, you could even draft them both if run
so you can go.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
You can get them both kind of right around the
same time and have the Browns number one back for.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
The whole year. You know, it's it could be really
really cool.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Ford was was you know, efficient, he was just okay,
He's not some great back, you know, twenty ninth and
yards after contact last year twenty fourth and elusive rating.
You know, she's like an average running back. But to
have a backfield by yourself, to have a back in
an offense, it's pretty pretty good.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
It's got some good weapons there.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
I think Ford being free, being a guy that can
be an RB two for you for most of the
season for free, I think it's something really cool there
and something that you can do and builds into really
any any draft plan.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Yeah, Ford RB eighteen last year.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
I want to say he finished in PPR leagues and
that was because he obviously, you know, we weren't expecting
that with Ford. With the Nick Chubb going out after
one week, Chubb has been placed on the pup list
start season, so we know he's going to miss a
minimum of four weeks. I think we all, you know,
a month or so ago, we're starting to get optimistic, Like,
you know, I'm not defying Nick Chubb. This guy, he
(31:20):
came back from a devastating knee injury at Georgia and
became one of the best backs in the league, averaging
well over five yards carry throughout his career. We saw
him squatting something like fifteen pounds something like that. We
saw him running on the page, We saw him taking handoff.
Who were like, man, if there's one guy that can
come back from that kind of knee injury, it's Nick Chubb.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Well, we know they're taking it.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Slow, and probably it's because of the emergence of Ford
last year that allows them that luxury. We saw Ford
was seventeenth in the NFL last year running back with
forty four targets, ten percent target chair. That's decent for
a running back. The Browns don't have a lot behind
him with Pierre Strong, who's just a guy. They thought
(32:05):
so little of Deontay Foreman that they outright leasing. I
know they've re signed him. Foreman has shown every time
that he gets overlooked by teams, he comes in and
he's pretty productive. But for now, this is this is
Jerome Ford's backfield. Up until very recently, you were seeing
Chubb actually go higher than Ford in most drafts. Obviously,
(32:28):
now that we know Chubb is going to miss a
minimum of four games, we've seen their ADP swap. Still,
like you said, I'm not the biggest fan of handcuffing guys,
but if you're able to finagle both of these guys,
and you know, obviously Chubb dropped, you know, it's pretty
significantly down in my ratings, knowing he's gonna miss a
(32:48):
minimum of four games. But if you're able to get
both of these guys, you're looking at, you know, almost
securing yourself, you know, guaranteed fifteen hundred plus rushing yards,
double digit touch downs, and and in the case of Ford,
you're looking at a pretty healthy like I said, last
year had a ten percent targets share. So that's a
pretty viable fantasy numbers for a team that you know,
(33:11):
many feel like that. You know, the Browns are still
a playoff contender, So a lot of meat on the bone.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Here, Yeah, well a lot of the men on the
moan for sure. I like that too.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
And one more guy I want to throw on that
I didn't put in the chat, but a guy that
I've been drafting a lot of that I think can
be another league winner, similar to Blake Korn. Jalen Wright,
running back for the Mia Miami Dolphins, is just a
guy that got We're not drafting for Week one, We're
drafting for the end of the season with the big
money weeks and a guy that's yeah, you could say
he's third on the depth chart, but he's very talented.
Trust Mike McDaniel. Mike McDaniel drafts guys with purpose, Guys
(33:44):
that fit his his offense. Very talented, very speedy back.
Shout out to draft sharks dot com their injury predictor.
They do a great job with their injury predictor software.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Over there.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
Two of the top eight running backs in highest chance
of being reinjured this year, Raheem Moster and Devin h
Chan Miami Dolphins. Every week produced two viable, sometimes explosive
running backs week in and week out.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
He just Jalen Right.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Just needs an injury to thirty three year old Raheem
Moster or to my guy, Devin h Chan. He needs
an injury to him and Ah I already missed four
or five games last year, So he's an injury away
from being an RB, maybe in.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
RB one week to week.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Very talented. We don't got to make it complicated. He's
he's he's a handcuff. He's a third stringer. But they're
even talking about, like to kind of extend this further, Jody,
they only kept like four or five receivers on this
on this team that the Dolphins did, they're talking about
eight Chan playing and in the slot you might even
get more standalone value for Jalen Wright. What are your
(34:48):
kind of quick thoughts on the Miami backfield.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
I guess I love Right. He's a guy I loved
at Tennessee. He actually has a higher speed score coming
out of college than eight Haan.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Did you?
Speaker 5 (35:00):
I have disagreed on a Chan, and that's fine. You know,
he's one of you see a lot of fantasy pundits
out there saying that a Chan has top five upside,
and he certainly does and all that, but it comes
down to the usage. You're talking about an undersized back.
My whole argument this whole offseason to spend it. I
feel like in the RB eleven to thirteen range, I
feel like a Chan is being drafted above. That's about
(35:23):
what I see his ceiling ass because I don't know
why Mike McDaniels would go any differently than the usage
they had last year. It's not built to take on
that bigger role. But then you look at Right. He's
actually the biggest back on the roster. He's almost as
fast as a Chan, and we've seen some highlight reel plays.
There's one in particular where he changed direction and still
(35:45):
was able to burst down through the line and turn
what should have been a big loss into a pretty
moderate game.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
That's what you get out of right.
Speaker 5 (35:54):
Like I said, he's a bigger back obviously, Like you
mentioned the injury concerned of him. He's someone that I
was taking and he was almost free in most drafts.
His ADP has also snuck up. I think he's probably
top fifty and not range now. But you know, again,
to me, he's a potential lotto ticket and that's what
(36:15):
you're looking for latent drafts. As late as he's going,
you've already you know assembled your you know you're starting
back up. I mean, you're starting lineup at this point,
your flex positions filled. You're not taking a QB two,
you're not taking a defense, you're not taking a kicker.
What you're doing is you're taking a lot of tickets.
You're taking guys like Jalen Wright who have this ability
and and they're in the right offense that if things
(36:38):
play out, this guy comes in and he can turn
eight twelve touches into double visit naty points just like that,
and that's what you're looking for. Where his ADP is right,
and so one hundred percent I think that's it was
a great choice. I kind of felt like I've talked
about Jalen Right a whole bunch of offseasons, so I
didn't want to pick him up, but you know, great
(36:59):
pick up on your part, Adham to bring him up,
because I've been I've been all aboard all all summer.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Yeah, I think Jalen Wright could be this year's Devin
ah Chan. I think Blake Krn could be this year's
Kyron Williams and a Chan and the thing is a
Chan and uh, Jalen Wright can both eat most or
two of those guys can each running backs man the
Adurt's the infirmary at weekend and week out, you're always
going for more running backs. And I always say all season,
(37:26):
never drop a running back. That Never drop a healthy
running back, because the next week he could be the man.
I mean, think about some of the disgusting you know,
Amari de Marcado last year, like the garbage we were
picking up off the heap, no offense to hitm and
his family, but like you know that we were just
whatever we could get our hands on. It's like guys
with the talent of j Jalen Wright in that backfield
(37:48):
with with Mike McDaniel.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
I think it's it's just a kind of a it's
not it's not about if.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
It's about when that is going to hit. So so yeah, no,
that would be exciting.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Yeah, cool dude.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
So thank Dan, thanks for joining me on the show
to talk league winners. I know you got some drafts
coming up.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
What do we got.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Planned for the people this season? I mean football starts
in less level less than a week. What type of
articles we're going to be putting out for these guys
during the year.
Speaker 5 (38:16):
Oh, we'll have the normal award winning content that we've
always put out. I have a massive update coming to
the rankings and projections between now and tomorrow morning. It
takes a lot of time to back it, to update
everything on the back end and get it all published,
but it's already in process. You should see right here
(38:36):
on my laptop all these Adam believe you're gonna hit
starts and sits for us this week. That was our
top article for the year. So you bomb that. I mean,
you did a great job writing that. Every week, I'll
have the waiver wire and injury report early in the week,
and then of course at that point we'll have the
(38:56):
projections coming in, which you are pretty much all coming
through for me. So I'm really excited to, you know,
get the season coming in. And you know, the added
bonus for me is that my my son has shown
an interest for the first time, so he's asked me
so many questions. So it's gonna be really exciting to
uh uh hear coming up in uh just uh but
eight days and nine days the first Sunday Red Zone
(39:19):
for us to sit down.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
This Sunday bonding.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Yeah, dude, it's the best I have to have two
sons myself had a daughter who's always hanging around with
their bills, jersey on.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
It's gonna be so much fun.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I can't. I can't wait. The red Zone is the
greatest gift we've ever had. Slight bread.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
I can't.
Speaker 5 (39:37):
I can't imagine people like my son said he wanted
to go to a sexan scam. I said, half phone,
he goes, you wouldn't go with me as I don't
know everything I want right here, and I can go
from by myself anytime I want.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
And you know what, hot dogs ain't twelve bucks over.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
It's right, that's right, that's right. So no, I can't.
I can't wait. It'll be it'll be fun.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
But but yeah, everybody, like I said, check out, tonight
we got I got the Circle of Las Vegas Fantasy
Championship tonight seven pm. We've got the Online World Championship
main event. They play for one hundred and fifty thousand dollars,
compete for one to fifty k.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
That's at nine pm. We get drafts, all weekend drafts
next week live.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
I'll be in Vegas live draft in main events in
five ks and hanging out with everybody. And Thursday night party,
the Friday night party. Uh, it's gonna be a blast.
It's gonna be a blast. So so yeah, we will
see everybody there. Thanks for joining us, and we'll talk
to you guys soon
