to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Yeah,

that's a guy that. Look with all the talk about
drafting these quarterbacks and what goes into it, that was
the one red flag about Pinnis was the injury his Yeah,
he's had a ton of them over the years. Most
have been knee injuries, and now he's facing another one
right now where he'll miss most of the season. There
were some great games yesterday. There were some fascinating college games.

To say other than statistically, if you look at what
they're doing this year, and I stand by this, they're
a little better this year than they have been last
year at this time in terms of just the basic metrics,
points scored, points allowed, Sure, turnover ratio is better, all
of it. The big difference right now is winning time.
They're not finishing games, yes, exactly, Rozer and five in

the one score games this year, they were undefeated last
year in those.

That's the huge one that shows you just the thin
margins that they were playing on last year.

Last year they averaged twenty four points a game through

per game allowed. They're at eighteen point one this year.
So the point differential is seven point three this year
on average, it was four point nine last year. Offensive
EPA is up, Defensive EPA is about the same. Turnover

margin is better. They were minus five this time last year,
now they're plus three. But the wins and losses, that's
the ultimate stet. They were nine to one at the
ten game mark this time last year and now they're
five and five. If momentum means anything to you, I
would say this is a team a lot like Detroit
that's sort of stuck in neutral. Yeah, I don't put

it yeah, I don't think they're slumping. They're certainly not surging.
And if I had to size all three of these
teams up, let's just go team by team. Here the
Ravens yesterday, I mean, you got a factor in.

how much one man can do on a team to

the four o'clock window, and I'm like, this guy's got
like four sacks on Lamar and that whole defense was

playing great, and then they got Dylan little Dylan Gabriel
goes down for guy with the with the concussion and
here comes hit Or Sanders. Oh boy, he comes out
with two straight completions. Yeah, like, okay, looking good and
I think he was two of twelve the rest of
the game. Yeah, it was bad. There's a lot of
apologists out there on his behalf. Look, this is the NFL.

And Dan Patrick talked about this early on his show.
He had Tim Hasselbeck on his show. A lot of
people were barking this morning that, well, you know, you
can't put a guy out there who's had zero first
team reps. And Hasselbeck and others are like and even
like Luke McCown Chase Daniel on social worre like, that's
not how it works, right, he's the third string quarterback.
You're not going to pepper in first team reps throughout

the weeks for this guy, right, Why would you know
when you're called upon boom there it is so yeah.

It's this collection of teams that are not just well
they're middle of the pack playoff teams. No, these are
the standard bearer teams out there.

We set this last week and Neil called in and
echoed our sentiments on this, and I love Dan Campbell. Well,
I'm going to tell you something though, when he trotted
out that dinner menu against the Commanders a couple of
weeks ago, that was very selective. That was an opportunity
to say, well, let me look at the schedule and
see what game works. Oh Commanders, they beat our ash

last year in the playoffs. When they suck, now.

And he looked lost last night. That whole offense looked lost.
And what did we tell you? Things are coming together
a little bit from the things we told you during
the off season when we studied these teams. We kept emphasizing,
among other things, Detroit their big issue was injuries in
the secondary. Yep, that's been a little bit better. But

the front five on offense, the offensive line. They lost
a couple of guys last year to the free agency retirement,
whatever it might be, and they've got new blood up front,
and all of a sudden, you go against Philadelphia. By
the way, that's the defense. And this can be a
question for y'all too, two four zero fifty four eighty.
What's the defense in the NFL that you want no

part of right now? Like you don't want to see
right now? It might be Philly because they're swarming with
their pass rush. Jared Goff it's pretty simple here. He
can't throw off platform. He's got to have that clean pocket.
The running game was great last night. But pick Fangio.
What a wizard he is for Philly. When they get
in the high red area or pass the fifty yard

line into maybe the forty thirty, they lock everything up
in terms of outside They take away the outside leverage
and they play to protect six points. But what aids
that is a great pass rush without having to blitz
a lot yep, and they're so good like oh, Nikobe
Dean last night was a demon. He was all over
the field making plays and the Lions just had nothing,

Neil said the other day about Dan Campbell being a
liability for Detroit, and last night it came out because
he could not stop himself from going for it on

that they put on the field last night.

stretch with the Steelers right the seventh and at the
end of the year, and then they got New England
and Green Bay. They got some tough games left. So yeah,
Kansas City schedule remains a gauntlet. That's the other thing
you look at, like, I guess I would default to
Kansas City. We've seen them and like by most measurements,

right now, they're playing at as high of a level,
like I said, as they did last year, if not higher.
But the wins have not come. The close losses have
been jarring for this team. So we'll see what happens
to them down the stretch. Of course, there is news
around the NFL in terms of injuries. We'll get to

plays there where, you know, we were talking about that
whole dink and dunk strategy that everybody hates a watch,

but it produces w's if you can get those burst downs.
And I watched Pat last you know, this Sunday, and
you know he's getting the ball out at record speed,
I mean little legitimately, he's getting it out of two
point one seconds, breaking his all time record. And I'm thinking,
all right, as I'm watching this game, is it because
of that? Well know that that lends itself to the

dink and dunk, So no, that's not the issue there.
So then I start looking at some of these other
play calls and that's where I really started to kind
of solidify what I think is the problem. And I
wanted to throw it at you and just see what
you thought. But when I watch some of the plays,
like there's a third and ten play and I mean
on third and seventeen a week ago, they go for it,

they make it, or fourth and seventeen. I think it
was they go for it, and they make it on
third and ten Twice in a row. I watched Pat
Mahomes throw a forty yard bomb to a covered man,
and I'm trying to imagine. You know, I mean to
throw a forty fifty yard pass, you've got to have

a little bit of time in the pocket. So this
wasn't one of those situations where he's trying to get
the ball off quickly. You know, he had time in
the pocket. So you know, is is it the play calling?
What am I missing? Because this is, as far as
I'm concerned, this is the most talented team we've had,
at least on offense in some time. And you know
the fact that we're five and five just kind of

fuddels me right this minute. I just I need some
to talk me down.

Okay, let's start with the play calling. I don't see
anything so far that looks markedly different. I think you're
running into teams and I don't want to use the
old ad as well.

You got the bulls eye on your back. It's the Chiefs.

They've been the Chiefs for five, six, sevent eight years now.
This is a new phenomenon right now with this team
that got healthier. They've got better in some areas where
they haven't been great so far this year, especially on
the outside. You've got Rice back in the lineup six
for thirty eight. Ain't gonna cut it back to play calling.
They need to manufacture some easy touches for him to

get him some run after cats activity. It can't be
all in the air thirty five forty yards downfield. I
thought Kelsey was great in this game. I thought he
played with a purpose. He looked like old Kelsey, and
I think that's a good sign that down the stretch
you have that as your key weapon to attack the seams,
because a lot of teams don't have that. I thought
Mahomes missed some targets. I think some of this is

on him too, And I think defensively, look, you've got
to be better in crunch time and winning time. There
are some moments there, and look the whole a team
to twenty two points is not the worst thing in
the world. But at the end of the game, you
got to give them credit to bo Nix, to Franklin
on that play which was supposed to be a corner route.
And they played together at Oregon. They know each other's
chemistry so well, he puts that on the inside shoulder

because outside leverage is gone there. That's just a great
play by a young quarterback and a young receiver who
know each other well, and it was a great call
by Sean Payton to sort of attack that coverage in particular.
But some of the key metrics in this game tell
a story. First downs, I said nineteen they had sixteen,
but third downs they were seven to fifteen on third down.

(24:05):
That's not spags like. Okay, they shut down the run.
Both teams did. In fact, it was a good job
on both ends taking away the running game. But then
you look at penalties. Both teams were awful yesterday and
some of these flags were not called for. I am
stunned that Denver was able to win that game. They
racked up one hundred and forty seven penalty yards. That's

stunning to me. So I think it's a collaborative thing
right now. I think defensively, their total metrics when you
look across the board, are better than they were last year,
even the advanced metrics. But it's winning time. It's little
things at the end of games that they're not doing.
Like last year, they blocked a field goal with Denver

games now on the road, and they lose by collective

in the middle of November in the playoff picture, I

still trust your team more than those others right now

of course in a couple of weeks this week two,
they're all big. But this is they've called cupcake week
for a lot of teams out there. There are no

at the records between these two teams, like Dallas taken
on the Raiders, it's not that palatable of a game

game this week, but the the games have not been
great in prime time lately at all. Even with some
of the marquee matchups we have seen, they have not
been great. Last night's game was not esthetically that great,
nor was the game on Thursday night. This game tonight

it's a must win for them. We kind of know
where the Raiders are right now in their trajectory with
their progression. I don't think they're ready quite yet to
take that next step this year. I think that's a
team that we talked about that can make you suffer
a little bit down the stretch if you have to
play them, because it's a Pete Carroll led team. Typically,
those teams, no matter how bad or good they are,

are not fun to play against. Their physical and they
tend to do things out of the blue that sort
of surprise you a little bit. Can this be one
of those games for them to get the motivated? Of course,
the story of the Cowboys, among others, is the more
Shawneeland's tragic death a couple of weeks ago. This is
the first time Dallas will have stepped on the field
and played a game since morning the loss of their

teammate Nilan, who committed suicide about a week and a
half ago. So obviously there's a lot to unpack with
this game. But the Cowboys are three to five and
one right now. Javonte Williams in the top ten and
rushing in the league. He's got seven hundred and fifteen
and eight touchdowns on the ground, Prescott putting up decent
number seventeen touty six picks pickens this year's over a

seven hundred fifty yards receiving in six touchdowns. He's in
the top ten league wide right now. But it'll be
interesting to see what happens in this game that kicks
off in about an hour and thirty minutes from now.

The passing game was not exactly prolific. Baker Mayfield sixteen

the Steelers, the Jags just came in and annihilated Herbert

the team in rushing, by the way, that's not gonna work.

and what a game. It was a game in which
Sam Darnold threw four interceptions. And if you can be
that competitive in a game in which your quarterback throws
for four picks, that says something about the total makeup

of your team. Seahawks had a chance with Myers at
the end, Jason Myers with a field goal of sixty
one year yards. It was wide right. Stafford survives only
