I've seen it a couple of times.
Speaker 6 (00:47):
Absolutely, and yes it's all black, gold and processed blue
as far as the eye can see.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
You know, I'm winning Rome. He's gonna be rom call us.
Let's fight about it. It's they're on call two four
zero fifty four.
Speaker 6 (01:00):
Now here's John Elie and Trey Polly Walnut's falcon.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Well, we came in here.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Last Monday, Falco and I down trotten defeated.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
As both of our teams took it on the chin.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Lest Yeah, they did not so much this week, West, friends,
we're back. We're all the way back. It's a victory
Monday here.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah, that's gone.
Speaker 7 (01:22):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
We won't game on.
Speaker 8 (01:24):
How we doing.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
I'm John Ellis, that's trade Paulie Walnut's Falco one half
of the league yesterday. The ones that at least played
cannot claim that that's how tight the margins are. Yeah,
in the NFL. But yes, it was a victory Sunday
for your Pittsburgh Steelers, my friend, Yes, sir, And they
took two old head quarterbacks to get it done.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
At the end, and both of them breaking down the
running out of oil. You need to get the get
a tune Cars was a Cars three Lightning McQueen. Yes,
he's fading fast. Rogers is fading fast. It's year two
of the washed quarterback that midseason stride. It feels that way.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
But at least they got the win, and boy, they
needed a big time win over the Bengals, a game
in which, by the way, there is breaking news on
that front.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
Ye.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Despite all the glory of winning a game. The headline
is Jamar Chase and Jamar Chase, if you have not
heard by now, was just levied a suspension over the
past hour or so, one game suspension for spitting on
Jalen Ramsey.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Believe it or not, Jas.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Straight through jail. Yeah, this is a bit of an
epidemic around the league. I mean, miss, I mean two
times in one season. It used to be happening, and
it's happening with star players. Jalen Carter Week one season opener,
by the way, before this season even got started, he
got hoktua you know, on back out there with Jalen Carter.
(02:55):
And then obviously what happened yesterday is the Steelers beat
the Bengals resounding fashion. Jamar Chase claimed in the locker
room when he was interviewed by the press, No, I
didn't do that. I didn't spit on Jalen Ramsey.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
And then he said, I didn't open my mouth to
that man when you were jawing at.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Each other, nothing, nothing of the sort. Ye, I wouldn't
have done that. And then the most clear video of
all time surface caught him, and fork caught him in
four K literally caught him in four k with the biggest.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Loogie and the edits going around are great.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Oh boy, it's bad, so good, it's bad. Uh So
the Steelers win. The Panthers win too, Yeah, a big
time win in Atlanta, where we got a glimpse of
another old head, Kirk Cousins. He played last night. Michael Pennix,
by the way, Yeah, multiple reports suggest that he's going
to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Yeah,
(03:51):
that's a guy that. Look with all the talk about
drafting these quarterbacks and what goes into it, that was
the one red flag about Pinnis was the injury his Yeah,
he's had a ton of them over the years. Most
have been knee injuries, and now he's facing another one
right now where he'll miss most of the season. There
were some great games yesterday. There were some fascinating college games.
(04:12):
Game Cox fans, how are we doing out there? How
are we pulse check? What the hell was that?
Speaker 2 (04:19):
What the hell happened? I was half half half of them?
Are that? The other one's very well, They're used to it.
Some sick goes out there celebrating because they might think
the head coach. That's true.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Castle big of this. We'll wait and see what happens
as the coaching cycle continues in college football. James Franklin's
head in the Virginia Tech, y'all, that's appearing to be
all but official right now. And uh, of course, Plemston
gets a big win on Friday night to stabilize their
season even further. Sort of a miracle win in a
lot of ways in Louisville. Sloppy ending of the game
(04:50):
by Louisville to I don't know if you saw any
of the game. Game at the end, it's like they
did not want to win it. They're not passing the
ball downfield at all. I love Jeff bram I love
the job he's done up there, but boy, they just
did everything to help Clemson maintain that lead and get
that win.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
And of course you take the win now, you take
a hand.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, give Clemson credit, and you know, give Daboswinny a
lot of credit. This is a week to week prop position,
not just the NFL but college football, and we get
caught up in the bigger picture of championships and playoffs
and those things do ultimately matter. But for this team
to hold it together like they have and play up
to their level. It's impressive. So shout out to Clemson
fans out there. Here's a big question of today, brought
(05:29):
to you by our friends at Ingles Markets. Oh boy,
we have a trio of teams that right now, if
the playoffs started in the NFL, would be on the outside.
Look it in, knock it on the door. Power rank
these teams for me in terms of how likely it
is they'll make the super Bowl at this point if
at all, Chiefs, Ravens, Lions. Oh, power rank these teams
(05:50):
for me two four zero, fifty four eighty.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Look, that's a good question.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Where am I at with each of these teams. We're
gonna do the full NFL whip around like we do
every single month, all the scores, all the big little
nuggets within these games yesterday afternoon, some great games in
that four o'clock window where the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
I don't know what.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
To say other than statistically, if you look at what
they're doing this year, and I stand by this, they're
a little better this year than they have been last
year at this time in terms of just the basic metrics,
points scored, points allowed, Sure, turnover ratio is better, all
of it. The big difference right now is winning time.
They're not finishing games, yes, exactly, Rozer and five in
(06:35):
the one score games this year, they were undefeated last
year in those.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's the huge one that shows you just the thin
margins that they were playing on last year.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Where I mean you talk about a.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Field goal going just slightly to the left or right difference,
and that Chiefs team looks completely different last year.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Last year they averaged twenty four points a game through
Week ten. Right now they're at twenty five and a
half point. Last year they averaged nineteen point one points
per game allowed. They're at eighteen point one this year.
So the point differential is seven point three this year
on average, it was four point nine last year. Offensive
EPA is up, Defensive EPA is about the same. Turnover
(07:17):
margin is better. They were minus five this time last year,
now they're plus three. But the wins and losses, that's
the ultimate stet. They were nine to one at the
ten game mark this time last year and now they're
five and five. If momentum means anything to you, I
would say this is a team a lot like Detroit
that's sort of stuck in neutral. Yeah, I don't put
(07:38):
it yeah, I don't think they're slumping. They're certainly not surging.
And if I had to size all three of these
teams up, let's just go team by team. Here the
Ravens yesterday, I mean, you got a factor in.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
The opponent too, you do.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Yeah, the Ravens gotta win. But it took a hurricane
formation Toush pull. Right, they're calling it hurricane. We're Mark
Andrews on a day where he set the all time
tight end receiving record. Yeah for that team gets under
center ready for a Toush push and he does a
little spin move. Yeah, yeah, who and he goes after the.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Right How many runs for a touchdown? How many times
do we set it?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
At some point, these teams are gonna get smart and go, hey,
we could fake.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
The Toush push.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Why are we gonna sit here and throw all these
bodies into a pile. We're not the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Let's just run it around.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Let's do something different. Let's add a little wrinkle to it. Yeah,
and I thought that was great timing. But other than that,
Lamar who was on my fantasy team, by the way,
I guess who was on my bench or brace young.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Little Brice throw for four and fifty yards yesterday. You
should keep him bench. That way the Panthers can win out.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
It's just a little stitches.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Happened.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
I'm looking at my bench. I'm like, how the hell
did he end up on my team? And why the
hell is he not starting? Oh my gosh, but chasing
over metcalfs. I mean, yeah, anyway, back to the Ravens. Like,
the headline of that game obviously was not the Ravens.
They get the win, right, and they're they're back in
(09:08):
the playoff picture and they're nipping at the heels of
the Steelers still yep. But the Browns, I mean, we
do not care.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
No.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
I know you don't. I know you don't, stealer boy,
But here's the thing, Like Miles Garrett, I don't know
how much one man can do on a team to
carry a whole organization. I know you're a big walk guy,
and I know you're not gonna cry and he tears
with the Browns. But I watched that game yesterday in
the four o'clock window, and I'm like, this guy's got
like four sacks on Lamar and that whole defense was
(09:39):
playing great, and then they got Dylan little Dylan Gabriel
goes down for guy with the with the concussion and
here comes hit Or Sanders. Oh boy, he comes out
with two straight completions. Yeah, like, okay, looking good and
I think he was two of twelve the rest of
the game. Yeah, it was bad. There's a lot of
apologists out there on his behalf. Look, this is the NFL.
(10:01):
And Dan Patrick talked about this early on his show.
He had Tim Hasselbeck on his show. A lot of
people were barking this morning that, well, you know, you
can't put a guy out there who's had zero first
team reps. And Hasselbeck and others are like and even
like Luke McCown Chase Daniel on social worre like, that's
not how it works, right, he's the third string quarterback.
You're not going to pepper in first team reps throughout
(10:22):
the weeks for this guy, right, Why would you know
when you're called upon boom there it is so yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
I mean Flacco came into Sencion lit it up after
being traded midweek from from Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Difference being that Chadoor Sanders is a rookie, no, but still,
this is why he was drafted in the fifth round. Right,
it's not supposed to look great because he wasn't drafted
in a position that would suggest oh boy, And it's
not fair to him either, Like he's going against the Ravens.
They're healthy. Now, you got Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith out
(10:54):
there doing yeoman's work, and all of a sudden, Chador
drops in and I'll never forget preseason covering the Panthers
this year in that stadium, we're, oh my goodness. And
we talked about it that next Monday. I did a
whole chunk on this, probably forty five minutes of the
show about how unfair for Sanders this was when he
(11:15):
brought some of it on himself. He comes in right right,
the comes into the stadium, he flashes the watch up.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
It's a Nike ad that night.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
On social media in a preseason game about that, remember this,
And then all of a sudden he's thrust into the lineup.
Now in an NFL game that matters. It doesn't matter
so much for Cleveland, but hey, Baltimore cast in on that.
Now they're the hottest team right now, one of the
hottest teams in the AFC. Right So I'm trying to
figure out out of the AFC. Do I trust them more?
(11:46):
Or Kansas City? And then you've got this other team.
It's this collection of teams that are not just well
they're middle of the pack playoff teams. No, these are
the standard bearer teams out there.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
The Lions. Oh yeah, then I got a play on us. No,
you don't.
Speaker 7 (12:02):
Dan.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
We set this last week and Neil called in and
echoed our sentiments on this, and I love Dan Campbell. Well,
I'm going to tell you something though, when he trotted
out that dinner menu against the Commanders a couple of
weeks ago, that was very selective. That was an opportunity
to say, well, let me look at the schedule and
see what game works. Oh Commanders, they beat our ash
(12:25):
last year in the playoffs. When they suck, now.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
I will beat your rass.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
And he looked lost last night. That whole offense looked lost.
And what did we tell you? Things are coming together
a little bit from the things we told you during
the off season when we studied these teams. We kept emphasizing,
among other things, Detroit their big issue was injuries in
the secondary. Yep, that's been a little bit better. But
(12:54):
the front five on offense, the offensive line. They lost
a couple of guys last year to the free agency retirement,
whatever it might be, and they've got new blood up front,
and all of a sudden, you go against Philadelphia. By
the way, that's the defense. And this can be a
question for y'all too, two four zero fifty four eighty.
What's the defense in the NFL that you want no
(13:14):
part of right now? Like you don't want to see
right now? It might be Philly because they're swarming with
their pass rush. Jared Goff it's pretty simple here. He
can't throw off platform. He's got to have that clean pocket.
The running game was great last night. But pick Fangio.
What a wizard he is for Philly. When they get
in the high red area or pass the fifty yard
(13:36):
line into maybe the forty thirty, they lock everything up
in terms of outside They take away the outside leverage
and they play to protect six points. But what aids
that is a great pass rush without having to blitz
a lot yep, and they're so good like oh, Nikobe
Dean last night was a demon. He was all over
the field making plays and the Lions just had nothing,
(13:58):
and they and Dan Campbell look at It's another thing
Neil said the other day about Dan Campbell being a
liability for Detroit, and last night it came out because
he could not stop himself from going for it on
fourth down. It was constant, I'm gonna span Yeah, I
mean yeah, Hey, Bob Barker, I'm spinning the wheel.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
So they lose. They're on the outs looking in right
now in the playoff picture.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
So like I have to ask you, do we just default.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
The Kansas City? I think you do? Like at this point,
if you had to rank them, like if you look
at track most at least trustworthy, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
If I'm going off of it, I'm going off for
track record.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
What have they done recently? Obviously Kansas City super Bowls? Yeah,
I mean that that's that's the golden ticket right there.
Then I would probably put Dan Campbell, I'd put the
Detroit Lions in there. Uh And then well, I you know,
I say that, but then you look at the performance
that they put on the field last night.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
I also don't know that I necessarily trust John Harbaugh
all that MO much like it was, it's it's been
rough sledding this year, Like they're they're kind of back
on track, and I give them a little bit of
a pass because that that Brown's defense is really solid.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Of all things you look at the Browns to get
it's the.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Browns brown that that defense can give you some fits.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
They're solid in.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Their next few games are doable, Like they're against the
Jets coming up this new this week right now, you
know the twenty third. Wow, it's already the twenty.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Third coming Sunday.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Then they got a Thanksgiving primetime game against the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Oh really, and they gotta be Burrow. Well that's what
we're thinking.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
But yeah, does that change now because Cincinnati sort of
shot themselves out of contention here? Does Burrow still come back?
Speaker 1 (15:44):
I don't know that i'd bring him back if I'm since,
I want to be completely honest, there's no what are
you playing for?
Speaker 3 (15:49):
And then of course the Ravens have that two game
stretch with the Steelers right the seventh and at the
end of the year, and then they got New England
and Green Bay. They got some tough games left. So yeah,
Kansas City schedule remains a gauntlet. That's the other thing
you look at, like, I guess I would default to
Kansas City. We've seen them and like by most measurements,
(16:10):
right now, they're playing at as high of a level,
like I said, as they did last year, if not higher.
But the wins have not come. The close losses have
been jarring for this team. So we'll see what happens
to them down the stretch. Of course, there is news
around the NFL in terms of injuries. We'll get to
that at much much more. We'll take your calls at
two four zero five four eight zero. We're gonna whip
(16:31):
it around the NFL a little while, give you a
full rundown of what happened and the weekend that was
in the National Football League. If you're on hold, stay
right there. Game On rolls on right after this. This
is game on on one o four to nine Fox
Sports Upstate. Get in on the show at two four
to zero fifty four eighty or hit us up on
Twitter at one o four nine Fox Sports. Oh yes,
(17:19):
it's a victory Monday for summer around here.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I'm celebrating the fact that my kids yesterday about threw
me on the couch and just took one of my
acls out as the Panthers won another thriller. Oh yeah,
they were tackling me there and enjoy not frustrating. That
was last year and the year before we were Damn,
Dad puts you to this team like I. I don't
do anything to the team. Panthers went in overtime against
(17:46):
the Atlanta Falcons thirty to twenty seven. Bryce Young with
a franchise.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Record bawling out. Yeah, four hundred and forty eight passing yards.
A little crazy guy. Yes, right, little man.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Come home, stepping up, playing big with Roe McMillan and company.
Oh how sweet it is. That was a big winning
of the Steelers. Look, they keep on trucking. I go
two kids, want to have a good purpose something. It's
it's been a weird ride for both teams, but yeah,
has we always love coming in here on a Monday
when our teams are victorious. Not so much for some
(18:19):
other teams out there. The game cocks ah right there,
that's that's the headline. Yeah, they look so good before
halftime and no, poor Shane Bieber. Uh, it's not been
a good few days for coach Biamber. We'll see what
happens there. There's news about Lane Kiff and we have
(18:39):
to get to yeah later in the show, does not
involve the New York Giants. Don't worry Giants fans, or
do worry guys. Your team lost another one out there
eight six four two four zero five four eight zero.
Let's go out and talk to chiefs.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
J Jay.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Man? How are you?
Speaker 4 (18:56):
I think I'm on suicide watch right now.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Nothing.
Speaker 6 (18:59):
No no, no, no no no no no no no no
no no.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
I have to last. No no no no. Hang on me,
let me, let me, let me reset. I'm good, man.
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I am well, man. I was thinking about you yesterday.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Look, we've been trying to rationalize and piece this team together.
You're Kansas City Chiefs, and everybody's healthy again. And it
was a tough game. Look, I told everybody you knew
this too. We talked about it. Going to Denver, that altitude,
that environment, that's a good team you're facing.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Has a tough loss.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Man.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
I'm sorry about that.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
You know.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
So we're thirteen and two now against the Broncos, you know,
all time with TAT and you know, I mean half
of those games were played in Denver. So I'm not
that's not an excuse, right, I mean, I get it.
It's valid, but it's not an excuse. I get my thing?
Is this right? So am I Am I ready to
(19:52):
just say that this team is done for the year. No,
of course not. I still think that they make the playoffs.
And I think anytime you get the Chiefs in the playoffs,
you got a dangerous opponent. I'm not there yet, but
I am a little bit realistic, right And I wanted
to hear I wanted to talk to you and haven't
seen here thinking it's like, oh, you know for the
last twenty four hours. And I got to call John
on Monday. I got called John.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Really, I'm the town therapist when it comes to sports.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
I mean, you might be my therapist in this call anyway,
because you know, I need you to to to what
am I missing? You know? I mean I get the fact.
You know, look, last year we made a ton of
we know, we got a ton of but let's call
them lucky wins with one score games. And this year
the ball's bouncing the other direction in those one score games.
(20:37):
All right, maybe that's just the statistics catch it up
to us. And you know, I was talking to Trader
in the break, and I mean, maybe I'm thinking, the
only thing that I can imagine at this point is
Matt Nagy, you know, the offensive coordinator, and some bad calls.
I mean, because you know, I saw a couple of
plays there where, you know, we were talking about that
whole dink and dunk strategy that everybody hates a watch,
(21:00):
but it produces w's if you can get those burst downs.
And I watched Pat last you know, this Sunday, and
you know he's getting the ball out at record speed,
I mean little legitimately, he's getting it out of two
point one seconds, breaking his all time record. And I'm thinking,
all right, as I'm watching this game, is it because
of that? Well know that that lends itself to the
(21:21):
dink and dunk, So no, that's not the issue there.
So then I start looking at some of these other
play calls and that's where I really started to kind
of solidify what I think is the problem. And I
wanted to throw it at you and just see what
you thought. But when I watch some of the plays,
like there's a third and ten play and I mean
on third and seventeen a week ago, they go for it,
(21:43):
they make it, or fourth and seventeen. I think it
was they go for it, and they make it on
third and ten Twice in a row. I watched Pat
Mahomes throw a forty yard bomb to a covered man,
and I'm trying to imagine. You know, I mean to
throw a forty fifty yard pass, you've got to have
(22:04):
a little bit of time in the pocket. So this
wasn't one of those situations where he's trying to get
the ball off quickly. You know, he had time in
the pocket. So you know, is is it the play calling?
What am I missing? Because this is, as far as
I'm concerned, this is the most talented team we've had,
at least on offense in some time. And you know
the fact that we're five and five just kind of
(22:25):
fuddels me right this minute. I just I need some
to talk me down.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Okay, let's start with the play calling. I don't see
anything so far that looks markedly different. I think you're
running into teams and I don't want to use the
old ad as well.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
You got the bulls eye on your back. It's the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
They've been the Chiefs for five, six, sevent eight years now.
This is a new phenomenon right now with this team
that got healthier. They've got better in some areas where
they haven't been great so far this year, especially on
the outside. You've got Rice back in the lineup six
for thirty eight. Ain't gonna cut it back to play calling.
They need to manufacture some easy touches for him to
(23:00):
get him some run after cats activity. It can't be
all in the air thirty five forty yards downfield. I
thought Kelsey was great in this game. I thought he
played with a purpose. He looked like old Kelsey, and
I think that's a good sign that down the stretch
you have that as your key weapon to attack the seams,
because a lot of teams don't have that. I thought
Mahomes missed some targets. I think some of this is
(23:22):
on him too, And I think defensively, look, you've got
to be better in crunch time and winning time. There
are some moments there, and look the whole a team
to twenty two points is not the worst thing in
the world. But at the end of the game, you
got to give them credit to bo Nix, to Franklin
on that play which was supposed to be a corner route.
And they played together at Oregon. They know each other's
chemistry so well, he puts that on the inside shoulder
(23:44):
because outside leverage is gone there. That's just a great
play by a young quarterback and a young receiver who
know each other well, and it was a great call
by Sean Payton to sort of attack that coverage in particular.
But some of the key metrics in this game tell
a story. First downs, I said nineteen they had sixteen,
but third downs they were seven to fifteen on third down.
(24:05):
That's not spags like. Okay, they shut down the run.
Both teams did. In fact, it was a good job
on both ends taking away the running game. But then
you look at penalties. Both teams were awful yesterday and
some of these flags were not called for. I am
stunned that Denver was able to win that game. They
racked up one hundred and forty seven penalty yards. That's
(24:27):
stunning to me. So I think it's a collaborative thing
right now. I think defensively, their total metrics when you
look across the board, are better than they were last year,
even the advanced metrics. But it's winning time. It's little
things at the end of games that they're not doing.
Like last year, they blocked a field goal with Denver
same distance. Can't do that this year. Doesn't happen twice
(24:49):
in two years.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
I think you just got to keep playing out the
stretch here. I know that's maybe not what you want here,
but I don't know if it's Mad Naggy. He's been
there when it's been good. He's also been in Chicago
when it was bad there, so he's an easy guy
to point to. I think it's just a matter of
some of these key guys get into rhythm together. But
the thing that concerned me about Kansas City all along
(25:11):
was if they could get back to a certain point
where they stabilized their roster and they got some of
the guys back the bus saw off a schedule that
laid ahead for them, was going to challenge them. And
keep in mind, they've been close in some of these games.
They blew out obviously Detroit, they blew out Las Vegas
as they should, They blew out the Commanders, They lost
a game to Buffalo they very well could have won.
(25:33):
And they go to Denver. Those are two tough road
games now on the road, and they lose by collective
what ten points there, So that's the NFL, and that's
just where you find yourself right now. I talked about
these three teams earlier, Ravens, Lions, Cheaps, the ones that
are on the outside looking in, remarkably so right now
in the middle of November in the playoff picture, I
(25:53):
still trust your team more than those others right now
to get it right. And it's just one game at a time.
You got Indie next week back at home. That's not easy.
But Indy, this is uncharted waters for them too. So
I'm not saying that you know, Andy's gonna lose, but
that wouldn't be shocked right Well.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
You know, it's funny. I was talking to my oldest
son last night on the on the way home from
watching the game with the with the other boys, and
you know, the one thing that I kept telling them,
I'm like, you know, we've gotten jaded, and you know,
we're we're clouded from you know, we you know, we've
won so much and we've done so much in big games,
and you know we've we've gotten uh, you know, we've
(26:34):
gotten used to magic, you know, and then the magic
isn't there. It's it's weird, but you know, at the
end of the day, I you know, I was telling him,
I said, you know, let's let's play this out for
a second, and let's say that you know, for whatever reason,
we end up going you know, you know, nine and
eight or or you know, whatever the hell it is,
(26:54):
and you know, we don't make the playoffs, all right,
would it be a disaster? No, mean the end of
the franchise or the end of the of the you know, no,
it doesn't mean any of that stuff. And you know,
I mean at the end of the day, you know,
next year it's still the same team. And next year,
you know, maybe we get rid of Juan Taylor and
(27:15):
some of those penalties, and you know, maybe we get
a little bit healthier on I mean, there's there's a
few things that you know.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Taylor a guy, by the way, you wanted to put
into a cannon earlier this year and shoot to the moon.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
I did. I still know, listen, even when he has
even when he has a perfectly clean game, which is
almost never, but it's happened, and even still, I'd be
willing more than willing to put him in a cannon
and fire. But I mean, we just we got to
be done with that cat man. I mean, he is
just so he limits.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
There's another pele here. He there's a key position on
your team that limits you read now.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
No question about it. And I mean, you know, those
are penalties that we can't afford in times when we
can't afford them. And you know, I mean so again,
I see what they're doing. I see what they're building.
And even if we missed the playoffs, I mean we've
gotten used to. Pat Mahomes has never not played in
the ANFC Championship game. Think about that. I know you've
(28:14):
never not been in that game. You know, if we
if this year is you know a flusher, all right, fine,
you know, flush it and move on. I don't think
that's the case. I still think that like you do.
I think that if there's a team that has the
ability to come back from this kind of adversity and
you know, and make a one, it's certainly the Chiefs.
(28:36):
They've got the pedigree, they've got the you know, they've
got the pieces, they've got the coaches, they've got the
All Stars, and they've got the you know, the Hall
of Fame guys. I think we're gonna be fine. But
you know, worst case scenario, if we have a bad
year and we don't make it to the playoffs, Okay,
all right, I mean, so we'll make it nine out
(28:56):
of ten times.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
It could end up being a great story.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
We don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
That's the beauty of sports, That's the beauty of the NFL.
Nobody's out of it right now. Well the Browns are,
but just a few teams are out of it. But
there are a lot of teams that are still in it.
And your schedule ahead Indie Dallas, Houston Chargers, who all
of a sudden look like dog crap, Tennessee, Denver, Agains.
You get one more shot at them in your place,
and then Vegas at the end of the year. I
(29:22):
see three or four wins on there for sure. Maybe five, Yeah,
you just yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
See five there. I mean I think, I mean, I
see four or five. Anyway. I think we've got, you know,
a pretty clean shot at it now. You know, if
we don't shoot ourselves in the foot, then that's on us.
But you know, I think that we have every chance
right now to make it and to make it happen.
I just it's it's it's perspective, you know, And that's
(29:48):
something that you know, I got a whole lot of
yesterday that I didn't think I was going to get. Yeah,
comparative to what we've done in the past years, this
is a garbage year. But you know, does that mean
that it's over? Does that mean we're not gonna make
to the playoffs or you know, to the AFC West
or to THEFC Championship. No, No, it just doesn't. And
you know, even if we don't, like I said, I'm
(30:10):
still there for them. They're still there. You know, They're
still gonna be what they are. And I'm not upset
with it.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
I wouldn't be. It's one year and you know, like
I said, it either doesn't go well and all of
a sudden you're swimming in the the the uh well,
only the unknown parts that are the NFL draft now
the mediocre like like my team has been for years. Like, oh,
you get around to January fifth, or sixth or seventh,
(30:37):
you're like, where we are in this mock draft?
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Here? Oh we got here.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Let's go a little mock draft shopping. It might be
a good breather year. And you know, your core, your
bones of what you have are overwhelmingly great. You're gonna
have that for many more years to come. It's just
been a strange year around the league. Strange and so
really the Panthers are six and five, They're a half
game back of Tampa. I didn't see that coming. I
did see Andy, you know, sitting there with eight wins.
(31:02):
I didn't see not the Patriots. I called them for
nine wins for the whole season, not nine to two.
I didn't think they have.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
I'm telling you, it has been so weird all the
way around the entire season, the entire league, every conference.
I mean, nobody is what you expect them to be,
or at least not not what I expected them to be. Anyway,
I don't know, man, I don't know. All I know is,
you know, I'm still wear in the red. I'm still
I'm still exactly you know, as optimistic as I have
and I'm just a little bit confused. That's all.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
That's as much light as I can shed on it
for you right now. Just you got to keep playing
these games. I wouldn't change much. Maybe at some point
in the future, you can't, you know, unring the bell
that is this year, your installs already in you already
got your identity, but they need to be able to
have balance in their offense, and they just don't have
anything in the running game right now, and I know
that's typically how they operate. Last year they didn't have
(31:55):
I don't think one hundred yard rusher, but maybe once
all year.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
You know what, They've got.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
To have more of everybody. Let me ask yourself. Everybody
keeps saying that, but I mean, Kareem Hunt is crushing it.
I don't unders why is everybody's saying there's no running game.
I mean, Kareem was going for eight yards of carrys.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
It's the commitment to it. It's the ability thirteen carries
yesterday in a game that was close all day long.
But they've committed to this idea that Mahomes is going
to be the guy that through the flow of the
game or whatever it might be. It's quick, quick passing
is an extension of their run game, and that's fine.
I to have a problem with Kareem Hunt at all.
I think they need to revitalize maybe pieces of that
offensive line to have more faith and be able to
(32:34):
be a little more balanced there. It's hard when you're
paying Mahomes what you're paying him and he's the centerpiece
of your franchise. I get it. But you know Andy
Reid's best days or when everything is balanced and aligned
and when Mahomes is out there having a run for
his life.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
It didn't feel like Chiefs football to me yesterday. But
give Denver credit. I know you, I know you don't
want to. Got to give Denver credit.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Man.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
At least Sean Payton took one on the chin there
you see the rather that and he got flag too.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Somebody said this should be tawning on the ref. Yeah,
you got flag for it. You can't be in the
white when there's a sideline play like that.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
Can't do exactly. I appreciate it, brother, talk with you gain.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
All right, Jay, be good man, keep the faith, Keep
the faith in those Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
It'll be okay, man.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
I didn't think I'd be sitting here in mid November
providing emotional support and counsel to a Chiefs fan. But
here we are. It's been that type of season in
the National Football League. It has been a wild year.
It has, and I do I still love those teams
that are on the outside looking in. I lean Kansas City.
I think Detroit, man, Like, there's gonna come a point
(33:44):
where if this continues with their offense like, am my
Russ Saint Brown's gonna have a George Pickens crash out.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
I'd pay good money to see that.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I've been waiting for that moment, Jamison Williams yesterday. This
is a microcosm of the up and down season that
Detroit has had. He scores a big touchdown, he goes
straight to the goal post and does the celebration yeah,
that I've seen Steve Smith do many many years ago,
back when they let you have fun in the end zone.
And he slides down the goal post like it's a
(34:14):
fire hole there and he gets penalized right away. They
moved the kicker back fifteen yards and of course on
a night where the wind was blowing like hell and Philly,
you missed the pat And that sets the tone for
the rest of the game right there, yep. And then
people will wake up and say, well, maybe Daran Campbell's
got the dinnerman, you're out and he doesn't have his
(34:35):
eye on the team. The discipline, I don't even think
it's that. I think you lose a lot when you
lose Ben Johnson and when you lose that offensive line
that they've lost in a.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
Be Look at them, Tim, Where are you at? Look
at your bears in first place? Yeah, didn't have that them,
I being on card I didn't either.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
We'll give you a full run down of what the
standings look like when we come back and some of
the playoff picture stuff that's going on right now. Are
you a Game Cocks fan? I'm sorry that you are
right now. If you are, that was a hard one
this weekend. And I know you have a lot of
pride in your operation down there. I know you want
your team to be great, your operation, your program to
(35:15):
be great and to thrive. Where are you rat now
with the head coach, Shane Biemer? Is it time? Because
I thought there was a lot of good stuff early
in that game with new play caller Mike Furry. They
were putting the ball down the field. But you cannot.
And I'm not saying this is a career defining moment
for Beamer. There's been a lot of turmoil down there
with injuries and another things that happen in every operation.
(35:37):
Everybody's firing their coaches right now. And I'm not just
saying this because he's been on our show. I'm not
protecting Shane Biemer I'm just asking you, what would you
do right now? Game Cock fans? Would you give him
his walking papers? Would you move on and try to
find something else? Two four zero five four eight zero
is the number game on rolls On after.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
This game on with John Alice, heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 7 (36:02):
Wish sh sh sh.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
H Oh, Let's go oh, let's go oh, let's go oh.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Let's go the boman in dun You're going through that bunch.
Speaker 7 (36:42):
Let's speak.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
The bottom, then the back sites, the Generals, the back,
the big buy. Oh, it's a football Monday.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Having a good time here. Game on live from the
Ingle Studios, Downtown Green. Go come on in and let
us know how your team did this weekend. Two four
zero five four eight zero. We took some time to
mourn another loss for the Chiefs with the Chiefs J.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
I make fun of him a little bit. He knows
that we'd give him a hard time. But at the
end of the day, it is hard when you've been
great for a long time and all of a sudden
you're looking around and you're five and five. I think
his attitude is the right one. Just look, let's let
it play out. There's an air of resignation to that,
and you kind of just have to size it up
and say, and Billy's good about this too, with his
(37:31):
game cocks and with his cowboys, like, look, just manage
expectations here.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
I don't want to get.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Too high or too low here. And that's where Jay
is right now with his Chiefs. I don't know where
Tim is with his Bears, but the Bears, ladies and gentlemen,
they're in first place.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
In the middle of November. Tim, what the hell?
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Man here?
Speaker 7 (37:56):
He is?
Speaker 5 (37:57):
He?
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Tim? Are you there?
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Tim is speechless. The Bears have left him speechless.
Speaker 9 (38:06):
Yeah, I'm shocked. I'm shocked at we're in first place.
But you know, I'll take it.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
Put it on a black I'll take get the T
shirts ready, dude. I mean, you've you've got to be
not just I take it, but what a great catharsist.
This season has been not only exercising those demons from
last year, it's the way you're winning, the fact that
Ben Johnson's come in and he's totally flipped the script
(38:34):
on the Bears culture that was over the past few years,
losing heartbreaking games, losing in just the most crushing of
fashion they're finishing games right now. I know it's not
pretty all the time, but they are finishing games.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Tim.
Speaker 9 (38:46):
Yeah, yeah, And and you know, I just think that culture,
if he, you know, if he's able to change that culture,
then you get to where you expect to be competitive
and you expect to win. And we didn't have that
for time.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
You didn't And now, I mean realistically, you don't want
to get ahead of yourself here. You're in command of
the division right now, you're seven and three. Oh, I guess.
So they play next Pittsburgh. Oh boy, Steelers Bear. Oh
that's going to be Tim versus Falco.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
I can't wait for that. That's coming up Sunday at one.
Speaker 9 (39:21):
Damn Rogers out for that game, he is.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
Yeah, it's Rudolph coming in to save Christmas. That's right,
okaylate tonight.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
And then you're at Philly.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
You're at Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
There's some tough games down the stretch. But man, if
you if you happen to, like, if you ran the table,
if you won the rest of your games, you I
think you'd be the one seed because you play Philly
head to head. That's crazy that we're even in November
and we're talking about that being a possible. The Bears
are back, the Colts are back, the Panthers are back,
Steelers are back.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Ish there.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Yeah, I want to get excited for your Steelers, but
I'm afraid to offend the ends a sense of.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
You can get excited.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
But Tim Man, that's great, dude. I mean a nineteen
seventeen win. Caleb played okay, enough, Swift had another ninety
yard day. It was not pretty, And I knew this
would be a slobber knocker because what Minnesota does on
defense really commands respect. And I love Brian Flores. But
it was winning time yesterday and you got it done.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (40:21):
Yeah, And you know, I think I'm hoping, you know,
eventually over the course of the season it will start
clicking with with Caleb Williams. But it's encouraging that they're
finding ways to win with less than great quarterback play.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Yeah, that's everything in this league. Let me talk about it.
You know, a team like Kansas City, for example, they've
lost five games this year. The average margin of defeat
is four point four points.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
Geez, Like, that's a crazy turnaround from last year.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
The Bears. Look, people are going to say, ah, the
schedule hasn't been that hard. Tim Just ignore that noise, Yeah,
just ignore. It doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter. At
the end of the day. You keep stacking the wins,
you take everyone that you can, and look, I think
at the end of the day, the realistic view on
this schedule one, two, three, at least four of those
(41:14):
games are quite gettable, including the season finale against Detroit, which,
oh my gosh, think about what could be on the
line there in Chicago against Detroit, an ultimate revenge game
maybe to not only cement the division, but maybe knock
the Detroit Lions out of the playoffs. Who knows where
we go from here, but that sets up to be
a great game.
Speaker 9 (41:35):
Yeah, we can only hope that Dan Campbell keeps calling
the plays.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
But he looks lost when he's doing it. Does maybe glasses,
I don't know, it does. He's out of sink.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Usually he just you see with that big old shiny
red nose of his he's got a big old two in.
He's on the sidelines and he's just he's the CEO.
Now he's having to like fun.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
I'll do it, give me a menu, I'll do it.
You can't do it upstairs. I'll do it.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
He picks the commander's game to do it where the
defense is ass and they take advantage of that. And
now it's like, Okay, you're gonna go into Philly with
thirty mile an hour wins and call what forty passing
plays for Jared Goff. Nothing looked right about that. But look,
I think with everything going on in your division, that's
another great question too, like who do you trust most
(42:27):
right now in that North division down the stretch? Like
I don't trust Detroit right now. Their offensive line is
a mess, golf can be had. I do trust Chicago
to a certain extent. Green Bay, I mean, they escaped
New York yesterday. They did, they escaped from Jamis yesterday,
and then the Vikings are just their quarterback away. I'm
(42:50):
afraid I don't think they found their guy.
Speaker 9 (42:52):
Yeah, I can honestly say I think Chicago could beat
Green Bay. I don't know if they can, be right.
Green Bay doesn't look that great to me this year.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
No, they don't. Well, look, congrats, man, it's a great
time to be alive as a Bears fan.
Speaker 9 (43:10):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna have to break out my
nineteen eighty five starters jacket.
Speaker 4 (43:20):
That.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Yeah, you take good care of that.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
That could sell for a few hundred these days with
the way they're playing, good old old bear starter jacket
from eighty five. You'd be looking you'd be looking like
Buddy Ryan out there on the streets. Yeah, in a better,
better shape of force.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Him in better shape of force than Buddy Ryan was.
Speaker 9 (43:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, better better.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
You gonna get the.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
Mustache, slippy hairbag. You want to get one of those bears.
You have a bear sweater, give a dita bear sweater.
You have to have one somewhere in your closet.
Speaker 9 (43:53):
No, I don't.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
I don't can change that.
Speaker 9 (43:55):
Yeah, yeah, And people though, I mean I don't remember
Dicka playing, but I know he was pretty hard on
those guys that you know. Harbaugh what Jim Harbaugh was
a quarterback under for the Bears under Dicka, And yeah,
I think he was so hard on Harbaugh. I mean
(44:15):
I kind of messed him up.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Messed him up yesterday. Harball's got scars still from the
way he coached yesterday. Tim, we got to hit a
break man, We got to hit a break But congrats
on the win man.
Speaker 9 (44:25):
Okay, all right, thanks, good talking to you guys.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
To Jim Tim big Bears fan. The Bears bes are
the number one team in the division. Right now, there's
seven and three. Get your deep Desh Pizza in Chicago.
We're gonna hit a break and come back. We'll be
back at for this.
Speaker 6 (44:41):
Your co workers fantasy trade proposal or Bryce Young's height.
It's game on with John Ellison, trade Paul Walnuts falco
with Wald de Wall NFL action all season long. I
am the new from first snap to final whistle. Rookies,
revenge games and questionable calls and absolutely zero patients for
(45:02):
your power rankings. Yeah, kirked over my ass. Brought to
you by Ingles Low Prices. Love the savings hit. The
phone line said two four zero fifty four eighty. Let's
talk some football. Here's John Alice.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Yes, it's a football Monday around these parts. We like
to call it a victory Monday. Yeah, because our teams
won yesterday day.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
Let's win, not lose.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
But we came in a week ago.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Oh you talk about just rot.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
It was like, oh, the Steelers had just had that
Sunday night debacle.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
Aaron Rodgers getting sacked at it for the safety.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
That was awful, awful to the Chargers Steelers game by
Sunday night, and then the game that I attended last week,
Panthers versus the Saints, where this Panther team was doing
everything nationally.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
It was Key and Peel, and.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
It was Rico Barro and it was Carolina Mike singing
the big one hundred and fifty thousand dollars song. He's
doing it. Oh, They're in the national spotlight. And then
lose to the Saints by double digits. This is the
NFL this year. It is you turn around and now
it's like everybody, with the exception of a few teams
that just keep winning, everybody's just pointing at each other
(46:11):
and saying, ha ha, we won this week.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
You lost.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Look at the Chargers yesterday.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Oh no, they got whooped. I mean you look at
the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Look Sam Darnold four interceptions for them. There's one team
in the NFL that has his number right now. It's
the Rams.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
And they're about the only team that I trust right now.
They're playing good football.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
They look great.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Right now, let's tee up the big question of the day,
brought to me by our friends at Ingles Markets. These
three teams are on the outside looking into the playoff
picture in November. Ravens, Lions and Chiefs. Which one do
you trust the most and least right now to make
a run at this thing? Eight six four two four
zero five four eight zero. It will shift, it will
(46:56):
move back and forth. And there's different context behind both
of these are all three of these teams really? I mean?
But the Ravens are surging right now. They took care
of business against the Browns yesterday, although they're down to
shit or Sanders right now at quarterback and that is
not going well. It does not look good at all.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
Started with five How are you down to one pickets?
In where he's he's in Las Vegas. Well, they played
its how Boys and Raiders tonight. He had a ring
before deck. He did he didn't fumble it away either.
He tried to fumble away the game, but he didn't
fumble away the ring. I don't know who I trust
more right now, but I think the Ravens have earned
(47:36):
a little more recency bias.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
If you will, with their their winning streak. They've been
on the Chiefs and Lions. It's not like they've been
on a slump. They just can't really get that championship
year going. Right, now, we'll see what happens. Tim's excited.
He's a Bears fan. He caught an earlier and he
was stoked. But those Panthers, my goodness, Brace Young. The
(48:00):
topic of conversation on this show last week and shows
across the Carolinas and even nationally was where's the passing game? Right?
Where's the vertical passing game? This just goes to show you,
no matter how much anybody comes on your radio or
into your world through television or on a podcast, in claims, well,
I've got the answers. Trust me, I'm the most trusted
(48:20):
name in football. It nobody knows that damn thing.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
We can do the.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
Homework, which I do extensively all week. Right, we can
look at the reasons why this would not be the
ideal week for like say Carolina, to be going against
a great pass rush, one of the best pass defenses
in the league in Atlanta. This is not the week
to start making those alterations to make Bryce Young a
more downfield passer.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Right, Well, the hell with that. That's what they did.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
The Falcons defense has been so good this year against
the pass, like the highest passing total they'd given up
all year. Was Drake May and that was like two
hundred and thirty yards. Oh wow. Bryce doubled that yesterday,
did career high and the Panthers win in stunning fashion again.
And talk about a team winning close games, that's what
they're doing. They're flipping the script on their season last year.
(49:10):
They're finishing these games that they didn't finish last year.
And Bryce Young, well, you know quote Chad, he threw
for three Toudies.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
Let's go on to the NGOs south line. Welcome into
Game one. Hello, you're on the air.
Speaker 8 (49:31):
The Lions. I think the Lions are the team that
in that division. They already have dropped fifty on Chicago.
They'll handle one more game with Minnesota. They have to
play Green Bay. If you look at their schedule, they've
got one team and because they got to play on
(49:52):
the road, it's the Rams. The Lions are going to
end up with like twelve wins and win that vision.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
So you're not who by what's your name? You got
cut off at the beginning there, Jeff, Jeff, Okay, Jeff,
good to talk to you, man. What what what's the
biggest concern you would have about Detroit right now?
Speaker 8 (50:11):
Offensive line.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
I agree with you. Yeah, I'm with you. That was
a concern coming into it.
Speaker 8 (50:16):
Yeah, their dbs are the two dB are coming back. Yeah,
Kirby Joseph uh that is almost well enough to play.
So you have the two say it's the opposite of
last year. Everybody's going to be healthy and all that's
got to happen is that offensive lines just got to
(50:36):
give Jared a little bit of time because the last
two years he's been the most consistent quarterback in football.
Nobody gives him the credit he deserved.
Speaker 3 (50:47):
He couldn't accomplish anything last night. There was people are
riding all over him today. Look, it's a tailor's oldest
time with most of these quarterbacks in the league. If
the pressure looks like that on them, that's about what
it's going to look like. Yeah, I don't put any
of that on golf. Last night. That was a hot
mess up front.
Speaker 8 (51:05):
You're right, and you know they we thought but they
were playing Washington of course that things things had straightened
out since the Minnesota game. But you know, you're correct.
There's nothing consistent going on this year. But when I
look at their schedule, I just it looks like the
(51:27):
Rams are really the only team that's going to give
them a tough time. And I think they're the best
team in the NFL right now. The Rams.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
What about Jameis Winston this week with the Giants.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
You look, you don't have to play scant at least.
Speaker 8 (51:45):
You know a lot of James. You know, nobody understands
the guy. He's just a character and he you know
all that stuff that happened when he was at Florida State.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, he's he's had himself a story
to tell. I mean, he's been through a lot. He's
put himself through a lot too. But yeah, I could see,
I could.
Speaker 8 (52:06):
See a lot of the Lions are going to do.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
I think the stretch run Jeff looks pretty good for them.
I look at the schedule. Rams are on their Steelers
are on their Vikings Bay. It'll be a dogfight with
the Bears. I think at the end of the year,
who knows what that game will mean. But the fact
that these two teams are in in a battle together
in November, at least from an outsider's perspective, it's compelling football.
Speaker 8 (52:26):
Yeah. The Lions problem is if they're paid facing a
team with a strong defense. Uh that's the problem. But
you know Pittsburgh, you usually think they have a strong defense,
but this year they're not playing great defense. So looking
at the schedule his teams right now that they've had
(52:46):
no trouble in the past handling, and I think they'll
be all right.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
You're on the record, Jeff, all right, thanks brother, appreciate it, Bud,
thanks for listening. Man, there's Jeff. Yeah, the anti Tim.
Let's anti Tim. He's like the Lion's version of Viking Greg.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
I thought it was Viking Greg first. The first word,
it almost sounded like that kind of I don't care.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Yeah, like, uh no, I think he's got a realistic perspective.
I think that game last night was a tale of
an offensive line that was completely overwhelmed, overmatched. And it's
not going to look like that every single week. Right
It's the NFL. It's crazy. There are only a couple
of teams right now you can truly look at and say, ah,
they've got it figured out. And even those teams you
(53:30):
just never know.
Speaker 7 (53:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
You see Josh Allen yesterday, what he did.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
All six of his studies, six tuddies. I mean, look,
and I was looking at the box score.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
We're following along on red zone because our game's happening
at one o'clock and we're peeking in during those windows,
and we had interest because the Buccaneers were playing them.
That kept Carolina in contact within the division because the
Buccaneers did lose to the Bills, and a big part
of the reason was Josh Allen became the first quarterback
since Josh Shallon score literally three touchdowns on the ground
(54:04):
and three touchdowns through the air. That's right, Yeah, he listen.
Had some bad interceptions, yeah, yeah, he did.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
He won.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
Was like it was like a two handed pass, like
a basketball pass in bad fuel position.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
To get picked off.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
But the guy's a magician, and it brought back to
life the idea that, okay, you know what, we're riding
the Bills off. They've been on a bit of a
struggle bus here lately. Here come the Patriots storming through
with nine wins, and then the Bills get that win yesterday,
brings them right back into the picture here, speaking of which,
we'll hit a break, we'll come back. We'll go through
the playoff picture. If he will give you an idea
(54:41):
where the standings are. We got a roll call out
for all of y'all. Right, now, your thoughts on your
teams this weekend, Billy, I need to hear your game.
Cocks out, look, how boys are playing the night Sean?
Speaker 2 (54:51):
Where are you at?
Speaker 6 (54:52):
You?
Speaker 3 (54:52):
Good luck, charm you. You converted to the Panthers, and
the Commanders are now in the well. They're in the
bottom of the division right now and the Panthers, you're
newly minted. Panthers are a half game back in the
NFC South. And of course Chad, we were gonna hear
from Chadd from something imagine because he predicted a couple
of tuddies. They didn't win by a couple of tudies.
(55:14):
Bryce Young scored a few tutdies. If aisode in that game,
Panthers win in overtime, We'll go through all the big games,
all the moments had mattered with our NFL whip around.
Before we get out of here, don't forget Jeremy Green's
coming up at seven pm with overtime. Hang out with
Jeremy in the gag until nine pm right here on
one O four nine Fox Sports Upstate.
Speaker 6 (55:32):
This is game on on one O four nine Fox
Sports Upstate. Get in on the show at two four
zero up on Twitter at one O four nine Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (56:18):
Happy football on Monday to those who observe and celebrate,
I imagine all of you do. If you're listening this show,
it's game on. John Let's trade, Paulie Walnuts Falco having
a good time on.
Speaker 2 (56:28):
This Monday night.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
Got you covered wall to wall with football coverage. A
lot more on the college game coming up later this week,
Dalton Wasserman. We'll stop back by from PFF and give
us a full rundown of what's been going on, not
only this past weekend where there were some compelling games
once again. Oh yeah, and there'll be a shake up
in tomorrow night's rankings and we'll all complain and bitch
and moan about it. It should be.
Speaker 2 (56:48):
This or that.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
Hey, football season, football season, Well, it's coming about the
game Cox and the Tigers as well. Tigers get a
big win on Friday night and game Cocks they had
a big lead and UH coach member will celebrate and
going into the going into the tongue, did you see
Nick Harbor and his teammate get shoved by that cop.
Speaker 2 (57:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (57:06):
Yeah, Apparently the state trooper whoever he is from Texas
has been put on leave from those games, and that was.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
Just a cheap move.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
But yeah, nonetheless, the game Cocks, they blew a big lead. Man,
it was not pretty. What are your thoughts on your
game cocks out there? Eight six four two four zero
five four eight zero. Back out to the Ingles hotline.
Welcome into game one. Hello, you're on the air. All right, Well,
(57:35):
it could be on our end, it could be on
yours until you call back.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
We just won't know around here, all right.
Speaker 3 (57:42):
Two four zero five four eight zero. Do we have
the cam scataboo clip?
Speaker 2 (57:48):
Yes, we do.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
Cam Scataboo in case you missed it last week had
a great moment on social media. And I only bring
this up because I want to just it's just wonderful audio. Scataboo,
of course, is out for the better portion of this season,
although some Giants fans will like put him back in
the lineup tomorrow. He's fine, he could do it.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
Did you see him on Twitch this weekend? He was
showing off his ankle or his ankle.
Speaker 4 (58:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:09):
Yeah, He's like, I can wiggle my toe, do this,
I can go that voice.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
Jim'skataboos showed up to the game yesterday with Jackson Daught
on one of those scooters and he.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
Had a full grill in He should have put him
in full grill in his mouth.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
Here is Cam's cataboo last week talking about the right
or wrong way to eat a taco.
Speaker 10 (58:28):
Do you like turn your head to eat a taco
or do you turn the taco for you?
Speaker 6 (58:35):
Like?
Speaker 10 (58:35):
Are you dominant to the taco or to the taco?
Like do you turn your head for the taco? It's
about the dominance of the taco though, like if you're not,
if you're turning the taco, you're dominating the taco.
Speaker 3 (58:55):
My favorite part. There are like chunks of that audio
you can grate on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, my favorite line
is to turn a taco for you?
Speaker 2 (59:07):
Just a gym.
Speaker 3 (59:08):
He's a gym. He'll be in the gym, no doubt
about it.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
I am uh that guy was born with CT no question.
Let's go to the Engles sideline.
Speaker 3 (59:16):
Uh, well, welcome into game.
Speaker 2 (59:18):
All. I bet this is Chad debitting machine king, ain't.
Speaker 8 (59:21):
It big can?
Speaker 2 (59:23):
Whoa?
Speaker 5 (59:24):
Whoa?
Speaker 2 (59:25):
What's up? Chad? We done?
Speaker 7 (59:27):
Did it? Baby?
Speaker 5 (59:28):
About damn Panthers? Baby? Oh Cutch Jim again?
Speaker 3 (59:36):
Hey, Hey how about sweeping the Falcons for the first
time in twelve years.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
How about them map this baby.
Speaker 5 (59:44):
It's been a long time since we owned anybody, but
we owned them Falcons this year.
Speaker 2 (59:49):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (59:50):
How about Bryce Young? Like all the talk last week,
we were sitting here on this very very time, very
same looking, you know, sunset outside. The vibes were still
the same, except for the fact that Bryce Young has
now gone out and done it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Four hundred and forty eight yards. Man, what the hell?
Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
Man, I don't know how he's done that. That was
freaking amazing. You know, He's took a pretty hard hit
in the second quarter, and I got the in the
first I thought he might have been done.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
We haven't even talked about that. He got his ankle
stepped down, the same ankle that he rolled up.
Speaker 5 (01:00:27):
And I was with you, oh that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
I was not at that game covering it, but I
was at home with my kids, and then I snuck
on Twitter. Usually turned my notifications off so we don't
get any spoilers because they're about a minute ahead if
you've got streaming, and so I sneak back in to
try to see during the commercial break what the hell's
going on? And when they said he was walking off
on his own power. I'm like, okay, that's good. That
means there's no cart. That means he's not you know,
(01:00:54):
torn his acl or anything. But to come back from that,
I thought the red Rocket was gonna get it his chance.
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
It was almost like the Red Rocket redemption. Well, it was.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Almost like a Giants moment with Brian Daboleh.
Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
David Alice was probably ran into the tunnel.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
Please be okay because I can't put you musty must
get like that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
Goes in like Scottaboo yet. Do you see dollar bill score?
Speaker 5 (01:01:24):
I did.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
He did the celebration too.
Speaker 5 (01:01:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
Yeah, I was exciting.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
You were texting me yesterday during that win, and it
was like I had so many people hit me up
on Twitter and on text, and it was like the
family was texting me and friends and people from the game,
and I was like it was even as someone who
doesn't get too animated anymore during wins or losses because
you try to train yourself on being measured and focused
and professional as a credentialed member of the media, I
(01:01:55):
enjoyed my son's going nuts yesterday. They were going pray
in the living room watching that thing. And there's been
so many games like that this year that's brought the
fun back to watching these games. Chad, we talked about
it last week. Just give us something to look forward to.
Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
You're right, You're right, it is. Yeah, I'll holler that's TV.
But dogs started hal and they didn't know what was
going on. They thought I was going great, well.
Speaker 3 (01:02:19):
We need a live stream of that, We need a
chat which.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
This is an earnest p World movie. What else is on?
Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
I decided, man, it was all things won this week?
They did this Man a minutes. It's just like I say,
the Tigers am a Panther one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
Yeah, that doesn't happen very often, not this year. Who
would have thought in this in this region? You know,
I know there's other teams out there that we don't
talk about as much. But in terms of the big three,
at least in our little triangle of trust here, the Panthers,
the game Cocks, and the Tigers. Yeah, that the Panthers
(01:03:02):
would have the most wins right now of those teams,
right in this moment in November. And I don't think
a lot of people had a lot of faith that
that would happen. I put a poll question out last
week about this. You can find me at Twitter one
panther place, like, what were your expectations for the season
at five and five? Have we met exceeded? Blah blah blah,
And it was about forty five to forty five exceeded
(01:03:25):
and met, And then a few people that I don't
know what they're thinking, like, no, you haven't measured up
to my expectations, Like what expectation Chad vote on met two?
Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
What did you chay?
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Well, they didn't meet your expectations because we're not going
to go fifteen to two. But it was fun, man,
winning is fun.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
It is.
Speaker 5 (01:03:44):
Yeah, well may happen in Gang Cook. They just laid
in that second a half, didn't they They did.
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
It was ugly.
Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
I mean, I was I was lucky to have ESPN
and ABC back on this weekend to be able to
watch some of the compelling games that went down. And
we'll tell more college tomorrow, but yeah, that sucked for them.
I mean, I don't know what to say. I mean,
I think there are a lot of Gamecock fans that
were pretty much tweeting during the game like yep, yep,
it feels inevitable. This is gonna happen. It does when
you get on the road like that against the high
(01:04:15):
quality team. And look, Marcel Reid had a really bad
start to that game. He was all over the map
throwing the ball for A and M and a lot
of that was on him. They got settled down and stabilized,
and look, there was so much going on earlier in
the game, like Dylan Stewart was going crazy with the
pass for US Sailors, was hitting Nick Harbor for touchdowns
over the middle. And then they just kept they kept
(01:04:35):
stalling out, and A and M's defense showed back up
and Reid played better in the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
And that's about what it can look like.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
It's not unprecedented, but boy, it's it's rare to blow
a thirty to three lead.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
That's a tough.
Speaker 5 (01:04:45):
One, Yeah it is. I'm I'm curious about this clubs
in Carolina. Game Man, it's looking like it's going to
be a pretty good I thin.
Speaker 8 (01:05:00):
Right now, you know, I.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
Mean, I think the matchup itself now, the stakes are
going to be different than they used to be, especially
now the game Cocks are sort of on the outside
looking in a bowl season. But the matchup itself is
good football in terms of some of the playmakers, the
athletes out there in the field, Dylan Stewart, sellers harbor
those guys. And then obviously for Clemson, they've got that
(01:05:23):
great defensive front. You've still got weapons on the outside
with you know, with obviously Antonio Williams and in Klubnik
playing at a higher level. Adam Randall's been great in
the running game. It'll be a compelling matchup if you
isolate the fact that it's like, it's not last year.
It's not for all the marbles, it's not like for
a potential spot in the college football playoff, but it's
(01:05:46):
still got a lot of meaning in this state. And
if you're just a football peerist, you throw the records
out the window. It's not like one of these games
from twenty thirty years ago where it's slop. You've got
two highly competitive, very good teams on that field right
now that have just had a bad luck here or
there with injuries, and you know, Clemson had their share
of home defeats earlier this year, and I think it's
(01:06:06):
it's a it's a big time opportunity for both programs
to sort of carry some momentum over the next year,
But it feels like there's trouble down in Columbia. Man,
I don't know what they're going to be doing. Maybe
I'm just reading too much into that, but this is
as angry as I've seen the fan base since Beamer's
been there.
Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
Yeah, I think it'd be foolish to get rid of Famor. Man.
I really love favor I think he's a coach.
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Yeah, I think you.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
Got to size up what your options are. I mean,
it's kind of late in the game now. James Franklin
already took the job at Virginia Tech. Apparently a number
of schools, including Florida LSU or trying to close in
on Lane Kiffin and they've given him a deadline, old,
miss has hey before the Egg Bowl. You better, you
better let us know what you're doing. Don't leave us
hanging here. So it's a competitive environment out there. I've
(01:06:53):
told people bringing Matt rule for a few years.
Speaker 8 (01:06:56):
Yeah, you like that, man, I don't know about it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:07:03):
Well, oh man, what about the pickles?
Speaker 8 (01:07:06):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:07:06):
I kicked out the body again this week and miss so.
Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
Far gonna get to that, but yes, I tried to
bury the lead on that one.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
We we we.
Speaker 5 (01:07:16):
Saw a crab man, I got a brag. I don't
know what to do this old old man, snack man,
radio man, hold a crap, I got four y'all.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Well, let's just take a minute here and size it up.
The fact that Chad de Vining Machine King awful this week.
Right now, Chad the vining Machine King is coming in
at a red hot one thirteen and forty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Did you get thirteen right?
Speaker 7 (01:07:46):
This week?
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
He is an ill missed too.
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Oh god, so what the hell are you doing? That's crazy?
Speaker 6 (01:07:55):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
Uh, I'm at ninety five and sixty five, Paula, you're
at eighty eight and seventy four.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Will continue to keep an eye on all of it,
chat good.
Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
God man, Yeah, like one of three or one.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
Of Jeremy's nipping at heels too. But damn, the headline
is one thirteen and forty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Is in the ninety nine point five. That's crazy. Give
me some of the winnings. I got a family feet
that's in the top six thousand.
Speaker 5 (01:08:25):
Just make light way. You got no money on.
Speaker 3 (01:08:26):
Big very, perhaps stop picking Brody had Brodie was cooking.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
He said, look, I've got a kid here.
Speaker 5 (01:08:35):
I can't be doing this I'm about in the gym.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
Bounce right, Brody? All right, Chadwick, will you still reign supreme?
My friend? You know you know we're here for you. Bud.
What a win man?
Speaker 5 (01:08:48):
Thank you? Who were watched it?
Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
Uh? You broke up?
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
Man? Which say?
Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
What who are we watching tonight? Writers a Cowboys?
Speaker 7 (01:08:58):
That right?
Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Cowboy? I picked?
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
I think I picked the Raiders last week.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
All right, boy, get on out of here.
Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
Ah now, Jeremy doing the show tonight is over loud.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
You'll be right here in thirty minutes.
Speaker 5 (01:09:18):
Yeah, man, we'll turn the we'll turn the football down
and soon Jeremy up. Man, let's do that. He's got
a good.
Speaker 2 (01:09:24):
Show, Yes he does. All right, we'll see in a
little bit Chad, and we'll talk to you tomorrow right
here on.
Speaker 5 (01:09:28):
Game one, Hey, I beg Jim, we'll be turned in
like always see.
Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
I know you will. There he is right there, the
man of the hour.
Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
I didn't even look at the pick 'em's records at
one hundred and thirty and forty nine. I was still
picking him because after when did he get wrong? I'm
looking through his picts right now. He got the vikings wrong.
I mean a lot of people picked the vikings up right, Yeah,
and then he got the uh he got the chargers wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
I mean, that's that's fair.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
I would you're trying to get to you or even
a clip one more time. I'm sorry, it's just audio goal.
Speaker 10 (01:10:07):
You turn your head to eat a taco? Or do
you turn the taco for you? Are you dominant to
the taco or to the taco? Like, do you turn
your head for the taco.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Turn the taco for you?
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
He looks so proud.
Speaker 10 (01:10:24):
It's about the dominance of the taco, though, Like if
you're not. If you're turning the taco, you're dominating the taco.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
If he's not.
Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
Turning the taco, it's dominating my floor.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
It's if you're in the world of advertising, your marketing,
and you're with Taco Bell and he is not like tomorrow,
if it's not already in production, he's already He's an
injured reserve. He could put him on a set right now.
I need the cam Scataboo taco commercial.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
I can't wait for the Cam'scataboo helmets to come out.
They're gonna make a brand new helmet for him.
Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
Those puffy helmes. These guys are wearing this Guardian caps
cam a dune or none?
Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
That's not a Duneesa, who's a Dobs Kim Dabs, Romeo Scatterbury?
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
Now that works right there?
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Yeah, all right, let's hit it break, we'll come back.
NFL whip around time. All the scores, all the big moments,
all the stats you need to know as we get
your set.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
For overtime with Jeremy Green coming up at seven pm. Hey, Upstate,
John Ellis has your cover.
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Yeah, we got it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Game on one oh four point nine Fox Sports.
Speaker 6 (01:11:29):
Upstate, get in on the show at two four zero
fifty four eighty.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Haven't got time on this football Monday. Oh we have
a wide swath of opinions here between victory Monday and
defeatist Monday. A lot of your teams lost this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Game Cock fans are almost despondent right now. They don't
know what to think after blowing a multi touchdown lead,
a thirty to three lead at halftime, and they lose
the Texas A and M at the end of that game.
Heartbreaking or maybe there's a silver lining. Maybe changes will
be coming. We don't know, but we do know that
the game Cocks will be on the outside looking in
in the bowl season, and it's been a rough go
(01:12:28):
for that entire operation this year. On the other hand,
Clemson gets back on track with a Friday night win
at the end against Louisville, a game that you give
Clemson a lot of credit for putting things back together
this season, staying relevant, sting in the bull picture.
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
But obviously Louisville was just, you know, I don't know
what to tell you. At the end of that game.
Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
They were self destructing in every single way possible with penalties,
with the passing game just being anemic, and then the
special team's stuff was just atrocious on both sides.
Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
But you know, again, hat tip to Clemson.
Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
They get the big win and some big games coming up,
of course in a couple of weeks this week two,
they're all big. But this is they've called cupcake week
for a lot of teams out there. There are no
cupcakes in the NFL. We told you that earlier.
Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
It's the crazy scene right now as you've got another
game tonight that and I mentioned you know, you look
at the records between these two teams, like Dallas taken
on the Raiders, it's not that palatable of a game
on the surface, and the matchups would suggest that they
with some things going on on both sides of the
ball for both teams. Maybe it won't be a great
(01:13:34):
game this week, but the the games have not been
great in prime time lately at all. Even with some
of the marquee matchups we have seen, they have not
been great. Last night's game was not esthetically that great,
nor was the game on Thursday night. This game tonight
might surprise us. We'll see what happens. And the Cowboys look,
(01:13:55):
it's a must win for them. We kind of know
where the Raiders are right now in their trajectory with
their progression. I don't think they're ready quite yet to
take that next step this year. I think that's a
team that we talked about that can make you suffer
a little bit down the stretch if you have to
play them, because it's a Pete Carroll led team. Typically,
those teams, no matter how bad or good they are,
(01:14:16):
are not fun to play against. Their physical and they
tend to do things out of the blue that sort
of surprise you a little bit. Can this be one
of those games for them to get the motivated? Of course,
the story of the Cowboys, among others, is the more
Shawneeland's tragic death a couple of weeks ago. This is
the first time Dallas will have stepped on the field
and played a game since morning the loss of their
(01:14:38):
teammate Nilan, who committed suicide about a week and a
half ago. So obviously there's a lot to unpack with
this game. But the Cowboys are three to five and
one right now. Javonte Williams in the top ten and
rushing in the league. He's got seven hundred and fifteen
and eight touchdowns on the ground, Prescott putting up decent
number seventeen touty six picks pickens this year's over a
(01:15:00):
seven hundred fifty yards receiving in six touchdowns. He's in
the top ten league wide right now. But it'll be
interesting to see what happens in this game that kicks
off in about an hour and thirty minutes from now.
Time to go around the league, all the scores, all
the matchups that matter, all the stats that matter. Fire
up the van. It's the NFL whip around here on
(01:15:20):
game one. So obviously we take you all the way
back to Thursday night, a game that was somewhat forgettable
in many ways as Justin Fields and the Jets started
fast in that game, and the Patriots were able to
squash that quickly. They win twenty seven to fourteen. It
seems like it's been a year ago since we talked
about this game, but it was just last Thursday. Patriots
(01:15:43):
are nine and two right now, tied for the top
record in the NFL at the moment. Jets are two
and eight and they have already announced today they are
benching their quarterback Justin Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor.
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
Team Mobile gets to start coming up next week. How
about the game in Madrid? One of the worst games
you'll see in terms of coaching decision making, But the
Dolphins are the last man standing at the end of
this game. To a tongue of Iola, an efficient, if
not spectacular, Day fourteen of twenty a buck forty one,
buck seventy one, I should say, no tuddies, no picks.
(01:16:19):
Devon Achan twenty one carries a buck twenty He's been
coming on strong now. Remember Carolina played this Miami team
a few weeks back. That was the Rico Daddle breakout game,
and Achan was held under fifty yards rushing in that game.
Another one hundred and fifty yard game for Achan all
purpose wise, Jalen Waddle had fifty two yards. They get
the field goal at the end to win this game
(01:16:40):
in Madrid, the first ever game played in Madrid.
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
A little history there. Dolphins are now four and seven.
Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
I don't think they can do it, but if they
won out, they'd win ten games. And you know, obviously
it's right there in front of them. Commanders are three
and eight right now, and it's just been a disaster
sin losing Jaden Daniels. History was made in Atlanta yesterday,
a game that has flown conveniently under the radar. For
Dave Canalis, the coach of the Panthers, I would expect
(01:17:09):
him to be just fine with the fact that a
lot of people are talking about the Eagles, A lot
of people are talking about Denver and what happened with
the Bills yesterday. No one's really talking about the fact
that Bryce Young on a bad ankle, an ankle that
had been injured already, that was stepped on yesterday, thirty
one to forty five, four hundred and forty eight yards,
passing three touchdowns, zero interceptions against one of the best
(01:17:33):
pass defenses in the NFL statistically and on tape. With
the pass rush they have up front some guys like
aj Terrell Jesse Bates on the back end, Carolina dices
and slices them up, takes them to overtime and wins
with a Fitzgerald walk off field goal thirty to twenty seven.
They're six and five, and don't look now, Panthers fans,
(01:17:56):
you are one half game back out of the NFC
South and coming up this week. A week from tonight,
I'll be there in Charlotte to celebrate with our friends
from nine to nine point seven the Fox. Yes, sir,
It's going to be a game in San Francisco on
Monday night, Football forty nine Ers Panthers, the Christian McCaffrey
(01:18:17):
Reunion game, if you will, and Carolina has a chance
to win that game and take the lead by themselves
in the division. If Tampa loses next week in LA,
that's right, they play the Rams next week. A lot
of things sizing up. As for the Falcons, they fall
to three and seven. Their fan base is having a
hard time with this on social media. It's a tough
(01:18:38):
blow for the Falcons today, not only losing this game,
but Drake London will miss extended time. It looks like
and Michael Pennix, with yet another injury, is going to
miss the foreseeable future, possibly the rest of this season.
According to multiple reports out there right now, Pennix was
thirteen of sixteen before he went down. Kirk Cousins came
into the game, couldn't get anything going. It's a mess
(01:19:00):
in Atlanta right now. Buccaneers, as we mentioned, they went
to Buffalo for only the fourth time in their franchise history.
They left with a loss. They have never beaten the
Bills in Buffalo, not ever. Forty four to thirty two
is the final. Seven and three go the Bills all
of a sudden, and they're right back in this race.
They're five and one in home. The Buccaneers fall to
six and four. They've been on a bit of a
(01:19:21):
slide lately. Offensively, they remain highly relevant because different guys
are finding ways to manufacture yards. Sean Tucker, So remember
that name from the ACC nineteen carries one hundred and
six yards two tutdies Sterling Shephard. Yes, that's right out
of double take that name. Four receptions fifty four yards.
(01:19:41):
The passing game was not exactly prolific. Baker Mayfield sixteen
of twenty eight a buck seventy three one Tudy did
have an interception. But Josh Allen became the first player
in NFL history since Well Josh Allen to rush for
three touchdowns and pass for three touchdowns, and he tied
Cam Newton for the all time rushing touchdowns record among
(01:20:03):
all quarterbacks. And he still got years and years to play.
Remarkable day for Josh Allen, as the running game was
not very active. Keon Coleman was deactivated before the game.
He was a healthy scratch because he had been playing well,
so Sean McDermott sat him down and right now it
looks like it paid off. Hopefully Coleman, for the Bill's sake,
gets motivated to play again. Forty four to thirty two
(01:20:25):
was the final, and the Bills stay in contact in
that division with the nine win New England Patriots. What
the hell's going on out there is in apt way
to put this game. The Jags, who have not been
looking great of late, especially in winning time, well, there
was no winning time except for the first quarter where
they started piling on the Chargers, and they put this
(01:20:45):
game away early. Thirty five to six was the final.
The La Chargers, who came in obviously depleted on the
offensive line, and it looked every bit of it in
this game. It was not sustainable. And that's the concern
I had about this Chargers team, no matter how good
they looked up to this point during this stretch, and
(01:21:06):
especially last weekend against Pittsburgh where they throttled down on
the Steelers, the Jags just came in and annihilated Herbert
ten of eighteen eighty one yards, one interception. He led
the team in rushing, by the way, that's not gonna work.
Twenty one yards on three carries. It was not a
good effort at all by a Jim Harball team that
(01:21:26):
rarely loses a game in that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
Fashion, no matter how injured they are.
Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
You rarely see a Chargers team lose by twenty nine
points road or home. But obviously short week and a
big East Coast flight out there caught him off kilter.
Speaker 2 (01:21:41):
And injuries too. The offensive line is a miss.
Speaker 3 (01:21:43):
Trevor Lawrence fourteen carries, I'm sorry, fourteen pass attempts, fourteen
to twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
I should say buck fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:21:50):
Three to one. Toddy one interception on Jacoby Myers in
his second game with Jacksonville, sixty four yards receiving. Jags
are now six and four. Chargers are so in four
heading into a bye week as soon the Bears.
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
Tim caught in earlier about his Bears.
Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
They're seven to three, now nineteen to seventeen win over
the Vikings who JJ McCarthy is a turnover machine at
the moment. Seven interceptions coming into the game, now nine
interceptions on the season, sixteen of thirty two, two more
interceptions in this game. CAYLEB Williams officiate if not great
sixteen of thirty two. Won ninety three, no interceptions, no touchdowns,
(01:22:27):
and Andre Swift ran for ninety yards. He's been playing some
good football this year. Swift as and the Bears get
a walk off field goal to win this game.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
The Vikings fall to four and six.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
The Bears are now seven and three and their fortunes
have turned for the better. The Packers still not exactly
locked in, but they get the win. In New York
against the Giants at Medlife Stadium twenty seven twenty was
your final big win for them. They get back to six,
three and one. Overall, they're in good position, not only
(01:22:57):
in the wild card race, but still in the context
of the NFC South Division race. Giants are two to
nine and look Jamis Winston nineteen of twenty nine, two
to oh one, one interception. It was not the Jamis
game we were expecting. We were expecting either four tuddies,
four interceptions, or five hundred yards or something extravagant. Oh,
this is a very average game. We don't get average
from Jamis, very Austin. It's either gonna be feast or famine.
(01:23:20):
We got neither. Their Jordan Love was very good in
this game, two touchdowns, no turnovers. But Josh Jacobs is
injured right now, still awaiting some results on how severe
it is, but Jacobs will miss some time. It looks
like as the Packers win at Midlife Stadium. The Steelers
we talked about this earlier. Trey Falco Steelers thirty four
to twelve was the final as they put this game
(01:23:43):
away by virtue of a twenty four to six stretch
in the second half. Mason Rudolph in relief of Aaron Rodgers,
who has what appears to be a fractured left wrist
twelve of sixteen a buck twenty seven, one touchdown. Jalen
Mooren had a nice day ten carries sixty to two yard.
Kenneth Gainwell was great in the passing game. Kenny g
(01:24:03):
had seven receptions, two tuddies eighty one yards. Joe Flacco
passed for under two hundred yards, had an interception. It's
not pretty for the Bengals right now. They go to
three and seven. The Steelers are now six and four,
and how about those Texans. It's not always pretty, but
they get it done at the end. Sixteen to thirteen
was the final in this game. Another walk off field
(01:24:24):
goal is Davis Mills two hundred and seventy four yards
and one touchdown. Never easy to win in this league.
They're five and five and they're right there in the
playoff race. Again. As we've got just a little more
time to go. In this playoff stretch, we'll see what happens.
We'll take a closer look at the late afternoon window games.
And what happened last night is we get you said
from Monday night football, you got the Raiders and the
(01:24:46):
Cowboys coming up at eight pm. You got Jeremy Green
coming up after this on this fine station. Game on continues.
We'll wrap up after the show.
Speaker 6 (01:24:53):
Come on on one O four nine Fox Sports up State.
Get in on the show at two four zero f
or hit us up on Twitter at one O four
nine Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
Stop coming down the old.
Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
Home stretch here.
Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
It's came on, John, Let's.
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
Trade, Paulie Walnuts, fanco and you. We've had a great
show today, a lot of fun calls, a lot of
fun laughs, a lot of fun times. The fun continues
coming up at seven pm. Jeremy Green steps in with
overtime with Jeremy Green. Trey Faco will be along for
the ride as well. You guys should call in and
get a part of your Monday night here from seven
to nine pm, one O four nine, Fox Sports Upstate.
(01:25:48):
We got to get into two minute drill mode right
now because we got a few games left on our
NFL whip around, a few more to get to in
the late window in the forty nine ers. We don't
know if they're all the way back yet, but certainly
yesterday with brock Perty back in the lineup, it looks
cleaner offensively to a certain degree. Purty sixteen of twenty
six two hundred yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions. McCaffrey with
(01:26:11):
another stellar game two touchdowns of his own. Kittle was
great with a pair of touchdowns. Jacoby Brissett set an
NFL record in the loss with forty seven completions, crazy
stat four hundred and fifty two yards, but two interceptions
that were costly. In this game, Niners moved to seven
and four, a much needed win within the division against
these struggling Cardinals, who have been bad since that game
(01:26:33):
they had a couple of weeks ago on a Monday
night against Dallas, they fall to three and seven. The Niners,
of course, are seven and four, Rams eight and two,
and what a game. It was a game in which
Sam Darnold threw four interceptions. And if you can be
that competitive in a game in which your quarterback throws
for four picks, that says something about the total makeup
(01:26:54):
of your team. Seahawks had a chance with Myers at
the end, Jason Myers with a field goal of sixty
one year yards. It was wide right. Stafford survives only
one hundred and thirty yards passing, but Seahawks have a
great defense. Twenty one to nineteen. The Rams are now
eight and two. Seahawks fall to seven and three. It's
their first road loss of the entire season. The Ravens,
(01:27:16):
it wasn't pretty. It wasn't a work of art. Lamar
Jackson had two interceptions in this game, but Derek Henry
rushed for one hundred three yards and the defense was outstanding.
Shoudro Sanders played late for the Browns. It was not pretty.
Mark Andrews scored on a fake push push where he
rolls out to the right and runs for his first
career touchdown. The Ravens are five and five. Are they
(01:27:39):
all the way back? I don't know, Jim, but it
feels like they're back ish. They're five and five. They're
a game back of the Steelers. They needed this win.
Brown's two to eight. Dylan Gabriel in the concussion protocol,
which means you're probably gonna get more should or Sanders
this week as the Browns are limping to the finish
line once again. Miles Garrett was on a tear last night, though,
boy he had three sacks in that game. The Broncos
(01:28:01):
we talked with Chiefs Jay earlier about this. They get
their ninth win of the season at home twenty two nineteen.
Bonicks was good in crunch time twenty four to thirty seven,
almost three hundred yards passing.
Speaker 2 (01:28:13):
Neither team could run the ball enough.
Speaker 3 (01:28:15):
Or well enough, but Kelsey played well in this game
nine receptions ninety one yards. Chiefs had multiple opportunities to
continue to take the upper hand in this game. Broncos
get the last possession, they mike the clock. Big play
from Knicks to Troy Franklin sets up the game winning
field goal by Will Lutz there nine and two. The
Chiefs are at a precarious five and five at the
(01:28:35):
moment outside looking into the playoff picture, and they're one
and four on the road.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
One and four on the road. That doesn't bode well
for this home stretch. And finally, last night.
Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
In another slop fest on Sunday Night football, that's two
weeks in a row now, the Eagles survived sixteen to
nine controversy at the end with a PI call that
extended the drive and pretty much ended the game. Not
a good look by the officials, but it was never
going to go well. As we talk with Jeff earlier,
big Lions fan, the pressure was always in Jared's face,
Jared Goff, that is, he had a nightmare of a
(01:29:07):
game fourteen of thirty seven two fifty five, one touchdown,
one interception. The Eagles are eight and two. The Lions
are now six and four and on the outside looking
in of this early window playoff picture. But it's getting late,
it's getting really late. We're getting late in the show here.
We got about a minute left here When to remind
you were brought to you by your friends at Ingles
(01:29:28):
Markets Low prices, love the savings, check them out at
Ingles dash markets dot com. We're back with you tomorrow
five to seven pm. Coming up next, it's over time
with Jeremy Green. Stop on it and join the party
