Speaker 2 (01:21):
Have a good day.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to I much anticipated
a little late GV ten year special. The top well
not the but our top ten video games of all
time are lives the past thirty two to how many
years these guys are alive. I'm the clown Prience Podcast
Trust Now, and I'm joined by.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I am the Hooded curric com Patzer. Hey, my name
is Dylan Muss.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
And the taylor Field of Fields Taylor Field. I have
a cool question. Is this you take over? Dylan side Quests?
Got the side quest theme going on.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Video games and stuff? I just left it. I don't
think actually I actually send them why I don't know why?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Last warning.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Anyways, So, as we said, we get very busy in
the summer, there's lots of conferences. We do our you know,
our GV Day now movies, TV shows, video games, all
that stuff, right, So we planned a couple of things
that happen by October or by August ninth, and that
didn't happen, so we pushed them, but we still we
said we're gonna do them. So these are the last two.
You can go back. We did our top ten movies

(02:29):
of all time, and we did do that list before.
We have done this list before, but those were about
eight and a half to nine years ago. Yeah, year one,
so it's been now, I guess almost probably ten years now.
So we got that and then after, which will be
recorded right after this will be our top ten TV shows,
which we've never done ever, so but this is we've
done this before, so as usual, we're gonna go ten
to one. People, can you know, let us know why

(02:51):
they put that there, what they consider, you know, why
it's on the top ten favorites, et cetera. And in
that vein, I'm gonna start with mister Sidequest himself, dyl Mus,
what's your what's your tenth what's your tenth game in here?
What's your reasoning? How'd you get down a little? But
it goes into a top ten Dylan video games.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
List for sure. So, as I've talked about before and
brought up recently on the Trivia episode, I have like
an Excelsion that has like my top one hundred games
that actually goes up to like one hundred and twenty
or something right now, and I'm frequently in there moving
things around. So there wasn't really anything to do for this.
I already had the list made. It's just a matter
of showing it for the episode and talking about it. However,
I actually did make a couple changes for this episode

(03:30):
of my top ten. So this is actually a fake
top ten, reason being that in my top ten, I
have two sequels to other games in my top ten,
and I wanted a little variety, a little spice of life,
so I kicked the lower of the two out, and
so it allowed my eleventh and twelve favorite games of
all time to sneak into the top ten. So I'm
breaking the rules a little bit, but I'll explain what
those games are at the end. You know, I don't

(03:52):
want to spoil those things, but yeah, I mean, I
think what goes on here there's a lot of nostalgia.
I'm not gonna lie, a lot of things from my
childhood over the years, games that I played as a
kid and have like revisited a lot or stayed in
my life. I think those are things that easily float up,
things that bring out great memories, things that I played
with friends in like a very memorable setting. These are

(04:13):
the kind of things that ended up floating for the
top for me over just like pure mechanically, this is
like the coolest game, but it's just like ones that
have good memories around it. Before I do my unperten
I have a question for you guys, because I've really
struggled to think about this. Where in the year twenty sixteen,
a game by the name of Hitman came out, the
kind of reboot of the hit Man series. Guy didn't

(04:34):
jump on right away, but I played hit Man two
when that came out a couple of years later, and
that like backwards compatible, like added in the twenty sixteen
maps into it, and then a couple of years later
they added they made hit Man three new game, but
samsh mechanics, you can kind of like impour the old
levels into there, and then at some point they did
like a rebrand. Now it's just hit Man World of Assassination.
So three games all in one, all these maps, new

(04:54):
roguelike mode. How should I think about that for a ranking?

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:59):
That's kind of three or even three and a half games?
Like is that just one game? Do you guys? Do
I just have to pick my favorite of the trilogy?

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Like?

Speaker 1 (05:06):
How should I think about that in the ranking? Because
I think a comparison point I think of is recently
they released the mass Effect Legendary Collection, which is like
all three Massifact games. It's like, yeah, you could say
the Legendary Collection is like your favorite massiveat game is
it includes all of the games, but it feels like
a bit of a cheat. So I don't know, I
need to ask this.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Was it available on one disc?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
It is currently available on one disc?

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Yeah, there you go, one game, As far as I'm concerned,
one disc, one game.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
I would pick that, like, well, two addendums. One is
your list, you can do whatever you want. Two if
you ask that dress on your list, what you do?
I'd be picking one game based on the one that
I enjoy the most out of the three.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Yeah, hm hmmm, Kirklam, where do you stand right in
the middle.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I think right now it's called hit Man World of Assassination,
and you can't actually buy hit Man two, correct unless
you find the physical some point, but I probably wouldn't
work right because it's a live service games.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
You probably could buy it physical, put it in a
PS five and it might it might install the game
as a World of Assassination, but you can like buy
it Man two.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Okay. I think it's just the one game, is what
I would put it there. Interesting, I like Travis comments,
it's your list. You can catch yeah, whatever you want.
You can break the word because you can make eleven
games if you want.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah, because if I really do back for them, all
is one individual game. Like it's pretty damn close to
my top ten, but it's I still struggle with that,
so I wanted to get your guys' opinion on that.
But it's it's not my top time for today. I
just need to answer that question my time number ten,
which is of course the actual number twelve, but it's
number ten for today and it is the Great Dishonored two.

(06:41):
We did a retrospective, of course, of all of our
cane Dishonored talked about this game in the length if
you want to hear my all my thoughts there as
well as Kirklands and Dante's there. It might be may
be surprising for people that like Dishonored two is you know,
barely squeaking into the top ten for me, when I've
talked so much about like Arcane's my favorite studio of
all time. But I think it's just like in my
top twenty, I have like Dishonored, Dishonor to Pray death

(07:03):
loops like right on the edge. So they're just like
consistently making really really top tier games. But I don't
think anyone individually has like that, you know, top five
reverence necessarily, but Dishonor two is the highest one for me.
And yeah, it's just a game that I've played over
and over again, always finding you know, there's so much
depth to these levels, finding new ways around, get super creative,

(07:24):
all these crazy tools. Who plays you know, multiple characters.
The game is gorgeous, has great voice acting, you know,
interesting story, some of my favorite individual video game levels
of all time, with the Aaron Stilton's manner, cracking the Slab,
with the Clockwork Mansion, pretty much every single map in
that game is like outstanding, just brilliant level design that
I just awe at every time I'm replaying that game.

(07:47):
It's got great vibes. Everything about it I absolutely love.
So yeah, I'm really happy that because of my way
that I hacked my list here that I was able
to get an Arcade game on the list, because they
are a great studio making great stuff and I can't
wait for Blade. I can't wait for that game to
come out. But yeah, Dishonor two one of their all
time great games.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
So there you go, nice mister Patzer. Uh, it's fitting
that I'm gonna follow you because my number ten game,
I'm gonna do Dishonored one. Actually, yeah, so it's great
that we're going in sequence here because, yeah, going through
the retro with you and Dante, that was the first
time I'd ever touched Dishonored two, and it really did

(08:25):
blow me away because it just upgrades everything that I
loved about Dishonored one just across the board. I'm still
picking Dishonored one because god damn nostall just powerful and
like the first time that I'd gone through that game
and just realizing like the choices element, which of course,
looking back on it now, and when we went through
the retro, like we commented on how like linear that
game really is, and it's just like super basic too,

(08:47):
like in comparison to the like the mechanics and the
quality of life upgrades that they get going into Dishonor
two and then Dishonored three, Death of the Outsider. You know,
great trivia, you know answer that I got, But you know,
I'm gonna stick with Dishonored one. I agree with what
you said, Dylan. A lot of my list has a
lot of nostalgia sprinkles all over it. I went heavy

(09:09):
on the nostalgia pepper Shaker on my list here and
uh yeah, No, Dishonored one love so many like side
characters in that game. It's it's interesting how like the
side katers they introduce they don't necessarily have a lot
to like the overall plot, but they're still just so
interesting and I just found a lot of enjoyment kind
of like diving deeper on uh on just yeah, their

(09:32):
stories and how they intertwine and stuff that's not necessarily
like given to you for for the base game play through.
But yeah, Dishonored one shouts out to Arcane. It's on
a roll here. First two lists, it's been riddled on.
We'll see, uh, three for three, who's taken it.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
I'll take it in its three for three. Sorry, looking
forward to maybe when we do this list again. At
some point, maybe it gets on there their own. They're
on my list. The whole Arcane series is there with
those games and death Chalous you can jump down into.
I don't know what that is, but I'm excited to
get to it at some point. Very very tough cut here.
I only have one honorable mention of one that I

(10:09):
thought was gonna make it, and the top ten it didn't,
so a big shot to Eldon Ring. I thought it was,
but when I did the list, I was like, just there.
But I do really enjoy that game in the world
of it, and I'm scared to always go back to
because I feel so out of practice. And I We'll
be said, to some point, I don't think it's next
year because next year there's so many games coming out,

(10:29):
But I'm except for another slow time where I could
just sit down and get some meerst in the world.
So again talk about nostalgia. This is there, but I
still think and maybe a few people I know, one
in particular, would it agree with me on this, but
this nostalgia and I think this is the best of
the franchise. I think this franchise has many great games.
Maybe the one that comes out next year will be
the top tier one, but I'm putting GTA four here

(10:52):
at the number ten slot. Like I said there, San
Andres I have great memories of it. I feel like
those are more the sin around the boy just pass
the control around getting into trouble right where GTA. I
genuinely feel like that's the best story out of all
the Grand Theft autos. And there was just something that
they had, like a few of the aspects obviously they'd

(11:12):
do it a bit with five, but a few aspects
that were you know, RPG like that you could make
your choices and whatnot. And back then I wasn't like
searching YouTube and suit the other choices. Well, so that
was your choice. But Nico Belch the world, I just
and I think that was the first time Case Andres
I can't remember the time in between them, but obviously
that's sometimes it's not the only thing. I guess I'm

(11:33):
kind of putting it down a little but seeing Grand
Theft Auto and like a HD ten ADP form was
something fantastic, and that game, I don't know, that's one
of those things I'd like to see when I die,
just account of how many hours I put into it,
because I definitely that's the time where I could play
replay GTA game multiple times. Would never be able to
do that today, and that's just one to play. But

(11:54):
I just remember the high jinks and I wish I
love or right. I'm happy for the people that have
it at that. I wish I had GT online back
then like the way it is for five, because I
would have been all over that with that one. But yeah,
Nico bela cousin Roman Bruce, I can't remember the love
interest name, but even like her. But yeah, it's just
was a great time and I have fount when I

(12:14):
think of g t A. That's when I jumped to
and GT always just is usually just, I don't know,
one of the greatest game concepts of all time. So yeah,
GT four gets my honor at the ten slot. So
sick g t.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
A four did not have a good online, you didn't
miss out on much.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Well, yeah, that's what I meant, though, I met when
I had that time to imagine being in middle school
and GT five online existing. What a life? What a
life those kids must be living right now, you know,
like you just every day after school millions of dollars.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
But would you let your middle kid, middle school kid
play GT A five? I did, well, yes, yeah, but
we grew up in a different era. Would you let
your kids now?

Speaker 3 (12:56):
It depends what I like that, But like it doesn't like.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I lure my parents in there, come on, buy this game.
Ignore the eighteen a.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
My parents didn't care. That was good. But the thing,
as long as you keep this stuff, it's like church
and state, right, like school and home. There's some stuffing.
Just stay at home, you know. So if kids were
at home, I don't really care. If they swear at school,
that's an issue, you.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Know, So then you start swearing them.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
I think that's scene from Guns two Side Squad years
ago when they're yelling at each other in the prison.
But that's my number ten toyfield, Oh.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Boy, my number ten. And it was it was a battle.
It was a fucking battle for this number ten slot,
let me tell you.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
But it took I got the honorable mention. I mention
at the end of the show.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
But the number ten slot it was one by none
other than the Call of Duty monal Fair two, the original.
Back in high school, I remember when that game dropped,
and I remember when my uncle was visiting and he's
just randomly like, all right, Taylor, what do you want
for Christmas?

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Like, I can pick whatever I want.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
To say, yep, yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
So went to uh my TV games and I was like,
I want more of far two picked up on for
two and I remember, oh my god, playing Michael Myers
all this, the memories, playing with all my buddies. Holy shit,
there's just so many amazing things. And that's what kicks
started my career into Call of Duty.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Really.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Yes, I was there for World of War, but that
was the tail end, and I most of my friends
they weren't playing anymore and I was playing the zombies.
So when More for two came out, you know, intervention,
you know, three sixty quick skills, playing on RUSS, that
was just I don't know how another Call of Duty
could ever recapture that energy. It was just amazing, like,

(14:38):
so so much quality. It's just trying to get all
of the title cards too. There's so many different little
things in that game was just fantastic, just fantastic, And
the lobbies were absolutely putrid and filthy, and part of
me misses how toxic those lobbies were because they were
just so atrocious and you don't want.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Kids to be playing GTA. But you're okay with these lobbies.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
Just in different age, just different age, you know, you
know it's yeah, different different age.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Are you doing your job or your service of trying
to get those lobbies back? You know, you're on the
voice chat in these public las.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Oh yeah, I'm I'm egging people on. I'm prompting it,
and I get like the U will be band notification
pop up on the TV Madison.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Look, look, you finally got it.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
I'm an Xbox Ambassador, so I gotta.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Behave these days. I don't know what that means.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
Apparently I got to join this ambassador program for being
good on the scheme. They I can get you guys in,
you know, you guys, if you guys all bring in
five guys each and then we're gonna get rich.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
But you know what I might join is the Dark
Souls three Ambassador Club because that is my number nine
game on the list. Uh, you know, this is This
is a funny one because you know, I've played so
many of these Souls games over the years, and they
very rarely stick for me. Like I've played a few
hours of Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls Too. Blood
Born Secoro and Elden Ring was another one that stuck

(16:03):
for me. But Dark Souls three was the first one
that really worked for me. And I think a big
part of it and why I love it so much
is just the time and place of it. This was
a game that was played very deeply in the Custard Doome.
I remember one day, because you know, back in the
Custer Dome days for anyone who doesn't remember that. As
of course, the house I lived in for a couple
of years with Sarahs and Clinton and we did some
twenty four hour streams there a great time in my life,

(16:26):
of course, and one you know, we had my PS
four we set up in the living room. Everyone would
just play things on there. It was kind of like
a communal space, right And one day Sarahs had picked
up Dark Souls three and was playing it on there,
and for a couple of weeks I was just watching
him play, and he's so good at these games, and
I was like, damn, this game looks great. I've played
some Dark Souls before it never really worked for me,
but like, maybe this is the time where I finally
get into Dark Souls. He can be my coach as

(16:48):
I played through this, and so I did. I picked
it up, started playing it much slower than he was
to get through some of these early bosses, but just
kind of getting into those mechanics, picking up on it,
getting deeper into it, you know, beating some of these
bosses that are just so iconic in my head now,
like the Abyss Watchers is like the first big one
in there. And then at some point Clinton joined in
and he created a third Profoil. So there was like

(17:10):
a three or four month long period where either I
was playing Dark Souls three or someone at my house
was playing Dark Souls three on the TV, and we're
all at different points, and we all had different builds,
you know, going down different roads because there's like semi
nonlinearity in there, and so it was just like it's
such a strong, vivid part of my mind, and so
many great memories happened during that time, cheering each other
on a like defeat bosses or just like you know,

(17:31):
writing each other if we like fucked up a boss
like right near the end, seeing the different strategies. I
have the distinct memory of like Sarah's, he plays all
these games with inverted controls, so every time I'd log
on the game after him, I'd have to go in
the setting and change the controls, and he'd have to
go and change it back. And there was his constant
back and forth, which probably led to a couple deaths
here there. But yeah, Dark Souls three just such an

(17:51):
iconic time and I do love that game. And I
did everything in it, or at least everything I wanted
to defeat all the bosses, all the DLC, and some
of it was extremely difficult. I think, like over one
hundred hours it took me to do everything. Uh but
like gorgeous game, the visuals are insane, the scale of
everything in there. I think it was like a bit
more simplified than like a Dark Soul's one in terms
of like just being able to figure out what to

(18:12):
do half the time, And so I like that part
of it. But uh yeah, I think I might say
for myself that like Elton Ring is a a better game,
a game I overall enjoy more. But obviously the memories
of Dark Souls three like stand out a lot and
make it for something extremely special.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
So yeah, shows too.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Dark Souls three my number nine.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
It goes to me now, So I'm gonna give you
my number nine game here. Ah, what's on here?

Speaker 1 (18:42):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Yeah, this is I was gonna just say Call of
Duty in general here, but what choose Modern War for
two two thousand and nine specific edition. This is my lists. Okay,
I can do whatever I want. I can do every game.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Xbox you said called Duty that includes ghosts, and you
can't lot ghosts on.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
I love ghosts. Actually, I'm for ghosts. I fucking popped
off in the Ghost Servers. That was the first game
I wrote.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
That wasn't me. That wasn't me.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
I didn't do that.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
He's trying to defend ghosts. You kidding me? Those god
shit awful.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Because you suck ass doesn't make the game bad. Okay,
you know I'm going on three specific just to be
different from Taylor Field. That's the one I had, Yeah,
just riddled with nostalgia easily the one I put the
most hours in. Everything Taylor said with the custom games,
like like finding out what the zombies modes were when
that wasn't actually like a game mode in the Call
of Duty. I guess it was at World at War beforehand.

(19:45):
But yeah, Moner for two doing like Michael Myers, just
cops and robbers split screen at friend's house. Like it
just seemed like everyone of my friends had this game too,
so like it didn't matter if you're on Xbox PlayStation,
uh the odd people that were on PC at that time,
but I just feel like everybody could relate to that game,
even like non gamers played COD. It was just it

(20:06):
was a It was a golden era I think for
the first person shooter competitive scene for myself at least.
And yeah, just quick scope bobbies, all that good jazz.
I think this was like one of the first platinum
trophies I ever required to. Like, I just I like dedicated,
like I'm gonna get all the trophies. It wasn't easy
getting all sixty nine stars in the Specops mode. That
was definitely challenging but rewarding for sure. And uh yeah,

(20:31):
I'll never forget those, uh those deep core memories that
I have. And uh, I credit my my skills for COD.
I feel like I peaked with Marti for two and
my skill has never gotten better. It's gotten worse. But
it's just it's never gotten better than the Mani for two.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I've gotten worse for sure.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Yeah that uh you remember that? No, no Russian mission, Kirkland,
I don't think I do. Yeah, I don't think that's
That's gonna be one of the most controversial things I
think created in like the new game or No, I
don't remember. I never played the campaign for two.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Really. That was another thing too.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
I remember, like when the game was coming out.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
I remember being in an early morning hockey practice and
my friend was like, do you hear the mon for
two has a mission that you can skip because it's
just so fucked up.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
I can't wait to go in there and play it.
Just you know where your head's at.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
It's like a young lad back in the day. But yeah,
crazy campaign crazy like Finale two with the you know,
major deaths were really great as well.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
For sure, No calld to hear uh this was I'm
pretty sure on my list. The last time was Mario
Party two. I had to have Mario Party on here
two is still my favorite. I appreciate for the uh
switch that they did remake it a little bit and
try to put some of those. I wish they just
did the full game. I think that is other than

(21:48):
there's some great Mario Party mini games that have been
at over the years, and some board gimmicks here and there.
They're like, Okay, that's kind of fun. But to me,
that is the best one out of them all. I
have to play them all, and that's just always the
one I go back to a little hard nowadays with
HDTVs AND's a big setup. So that's why I am
happy that they did that with the Switch video with
the Switch one that you know, didn't get the fun
costumes like the witches and the wizards and stuff, and

(22:10):
the mini games were all there, not the mini games
that like, well, I guess many games were different. Also,
the battle modes, I man, nothing better than squaring off
against you know, Warreo and a sword fighting competition. But yeah,
that's my favorite one as far as the Mario Party goes.
I like the game's best. I like the character roster,
I really enjoy the boards. I think there's a lot
of great mini games. I feel like lots of people.

(22:32):
There's a couple other ones, but I feel most the
classic ones that people go back to is that one.
So yeah, Mario Party two is on. There had to
have a Mario Party and that to me is the
best one.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Great pick.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
I would agree with that.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
Oh what my number nine is And this is you know,
it stems straight up out of nostalgia Super Smash Brothers, Melee.
This game is one of the first titles playing on
game Cube and like for me, a console game. I
was there at my cousin's house when he had the
nes and so that was kind of my my introduction

(23:07):
to console gaming handheld game Boy Color. But for me,
when he upgraded and got his game Cube, that's when, okay,
like this is the real deal. Like I'd be there
for weekends in the summertime, and like you know, we
were competitively playing Smash and just going to town and
just creating like different scenarios like that game was. It
was fantastic. It was fan freaking tastic, And my love
for it might have dropped a bit when Dylan started

(23:28):
schooling us in the Gauntlet when it would pop up
in there, but no, it's it's still it's still just
such a great time. I'm gonna pard pass on that,
but no, it's just the game. It just it's definitely aged. Well,
it's just such a classic, a staple, and it's one
of the games that I have, like physic copy. I'll
never get rid of my physical copy of Super Smash Brothers.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Melee.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
It's just such a it's great, and I remember doing
the fifty one events and to this day, I can't
beat Event fifty one on my own, Like it's just
it's so fucking crazy. And my mom used to do
exchange students, and so these Eastern fellaws came exchange students.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Then what I don't know my current angle videos on
this profile.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Great sentence, Oh.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Were the side quest ones? I don't have to say again.
You said that your mom used to do exchange students.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Oh, I'm in the context. She would have them stay
in our home, you know where you can have them
come over.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yes, that's okay, that's so.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
What's the confusions, Taylor, his mom's rail and these exchange students. Besides,
I need your help with Melee. Well that's what they did.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
They they these Eastern lads, they they helped me with
Event fifty one. It was fantastic. Like the guy, they
were two very different personalities. One you could tell was
very much living the geeky life, and the other was
definitely like the life for the party, but he liked
the adult game he picked up like transform Yeah, but

(25:06):
the other guy he was just Transformers the more more
an adult game. But the one guy he just hopped
on their event fifty one and he just like he
just he glided through it. It was the most seamless
execution I've ever seen in my life. I couldn't believe it.
And after a week he went home and I was like, wow,

(25:28):
weekime was too short. One week, So there you go.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
He must have done something bad if he's only one
week and they sent him back.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
He beat that mission on Taylor's save, and Taylor for
forgive him for that number eight right running right. Maybe
guys have heard of this game, little game by the
name of super Mario sixty four. Love this game so much,
you know, obviously crazy game. Back in the day, first

(25:59):
kind of three the experience, I think I was so
young i'd even realize that of like, wow, Paradigm Shift
three D game, but you know, it just instinctively felt
that way. And it's funny that after all these years,
you know, Sunshine, both galaxies Odyssee three D World. I
just I don't think any of the Mario games have
felt as good as this one, which is weird. You
think they would just get feel better and better over time.

(26:20):
But there's something about the momentum, the movement system, the
way you can combo all the movement options together, and
there's so many of them, and it feels like no
matter what angle you're going, there's some special way you
can move. Obviously, there's like glitches and all sorts of
things like that to even Hanser movement past that, but
it's just such a fun game to move around. And
I find that it is booted up every once in
a while, not even to like beat it or get

(26:41):
certain stars, but just to fly around the map. Even
just jumping around the castle is fine. I think that's
like such a huge point for this game overalls. You
don't need to be in a level to be having fun.
You can just be going around the castle, flying off
walls and you'll just have the time of your life.
So yeah, I absolutely love this game when I've played
over and over again. The music is.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
The best, Yeah Mario music album.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Dire Dire Dogs bub on Battlefield like just so many
iconic tracks in there. Uh and yeah, I think another
reason why this one has kind of shot up my
list and stays there above other nostalgia pis like back
in the day, is it is just my favorite speed
run game to watch. I've I've probably spent more hours
watching speed runs of this game than I have been
playing it over my life, which is crazy because I've
played so much of it. But it is just like

(27:26):
the most optimized speed run and just like the crazy
tricks and roads that people go and like just you know,
I don't keep super up to date with like the
monthly records and all that anymore, but every time I
tune in every couple of years and it's like, oh,
they've shaved one minute all the time, but for Mario
that means everything. That means that they've unlocked all these
new movement methods, hacks through walls, skips here and there,

(27:47):
and it's just like extremely exciting. So yeah, that's one that, Yeah,
I don't play much these days. I'll just you know,
jump in, fly around for a little bit, and then
move on to the next thing. But through speed runs,
it still like lives on in my heart, and it's
always fun to watch and keep up with the name
and who's you know, running up a leader board, who's
fallen off and all that kind of stuff in the
different eras of it. So, yeah, Mario sixty four super

(28:07):
iconic game. And I'm still waiting for a three D
Mario game that would do it. All these years later,
I'm waiting Nintendo, come on, bring it on.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
No, they may perfected it there. You know, it's tough.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
There's peaked early in the Yeah, yeah, Kirk compatser you
can go after it goes to me.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Now, Okay, I'm just so blown away and I need
a second to just you know, really, is that why
you're said keep it on the sixty four bit game path.
I am upgrading actually and going to the modern age here.
I'm going a game that was on my previous set
of top ten games, one that I really should revisit.

(28:51):
I'm going Batman Arkham City.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Here, yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Last time, Yeah, exactly, the only one of the series.
I think I've played. Interesting place to jump in, but goddamn,
is that just a perfect game experience. And at that
time I feel like I knew, like the main movie
villains that that came across the board, like the banes
of the world and stuff. But just like a lot
of the side villains, I don't know if they're considered

(29:18):
side villains because I'm sure they have crazy comic book
arcs in their own.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Yeah, but I think if you're like Joker, Catwomandler Face,
like if you're not, like, there's probably a core four
of villains that I feel like pop up a bunch
and like Vickers.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
As like that character like terrified me and he like
I had no idea who that was just.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
Begins, you know, like before that comes out. Scarecrow is
not unknown.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Villain, know absolutely, Hugo Strange.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Is strange of still waiting. I want Batista to play
him so bad.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
That's a good cast. I like that a lot. But no,
it's just it's a phenomenal game one I really should
jump back in just just to revisit it. But part
of me also kind of wants to experience the other
stories because I've I've heard even just Arkham Asylum is phenomenal,
even though it's a lot more contained, but just just
as a one go experience, No, it's it's just so fun,
that's so well made. The opening to Arkham City too,

(30:09):
is just like fucking Goosebumps, you know, like the rock Goosebumps.
It just gets you going. It's so good. Yeah, no,
it's it's just fantastic. I feel like that game like
made me like, you know, Batman, Okay, he's a cool superhero,
but like that game was like, okay, I'm like a
Batman fan now, like like he's truly badass, great gadgets
in it. Really really liked the combat and yeah, no,

(30:32):
it was fun. I think I had like the DLC
where you could play as a night Wing. Also Catwoman
was in there. I think that was it for playable characters.
Maybe there's one more.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Cause Batman's death.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Yeah, the og Gotham Knights, Yeah, yeah, was I guess
those games were coming around the same time as like
the Dark Knight trilogy, maybe a bit before.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
I think it's like two years because I think Dark
Knights eight and Asylum's nine and City. I feel like
it could be the same year as Dark Night Rises are.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
It's like a fucking golden era.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Twenty eleven actually was year before. Yeah, so twenty eleven
just a year before that. No, that was super cool.
We were peaking, Yeah, and I'm next on that peak list.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
You can go after about that after Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Was just looking at I was looking at Batman Arkham
City art and I was like, man, God damn, I
I I've been itching to play that, but I'm waiting,
probably for the next Batman. We wing to do that
old trilogy again, because I've just been itching. But you
know what, I'm always ititching for some fire in the
eyes now. Granted, on the review I'm talking about Mario
Striker's GameCube is my number eight on the review. I

(31:42):
still think that the newest one is technically the better game,
but we're not making the best games. And even then,
if I was being a top ten best games all time,
I don't think Strikers is gonna be on there. But
I think that game, for the most part, approves in
every way. But I think I enjoy the arcadie style
of the first one more. And it was funny that
I didn't say anything. I just let them play. I

(32:04):
let the girls play the first one and then the
second one, and they want to go back to that
first one, and I think there's just something about that
pick up and play. Yeah, it's just I think there's
just like there's not so much but just a lot
more added on between the gear and the stats and
multiple options and the switching. Like even I remember too
for the like passing the ball, but the new one
it has that weird thing where I can't remember what

(32:24):
it is, but it's kind of an issue where you're
calling for a pass, but sometimes when you pass that player,
you will just switch to that person, where for some reason,
the Gamekee one felt more seamless than that way when
you're playing with others. I like the simplicity of you
have a run, shoot, hit button and that's about it.
Like maybe yeah, and pass obviously, but it's just those
four and the sticking it to go and obviously a

(32:45):
very document thing. Like that's how the Gallets started, right
was we played it was me and Tay versus Dylan
Amber and you guys beat us at like a point
second score, and then we built it to this rematch
and that was like the first official golf match without
being the Gauntlet match because we did promos.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
We did a stream for it was the iconic video
where Amber punched the soccer ball and like hit the
camera and the phone fell over.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
And it was like, God, suck it, and then yeah,
it's so good I remember because I was on the
road and we were filming stuff and that was the
start of it. So I have good nostalgic memories both
times of part as being a kid because I loved
soccer in general. It's probably probably my favorite sport. Well,
I guess it'd be football now, but even though I
just don't watch soccer, but to play, I love playing soccer.
I missed playing soccer, so Lego soccer and Mario soccer.

(33:29):
Bad Day was my jam. And then yeah, there's like
a second nostalgia for it because I felt like too,
that was a game that came up a lot in
the Gauntlet because especially in those early days when it
was a tie and it was people like, oh, what
we're gonna play? Well, you know, pick gaum like or
pick a pick strikers, because even if you weren't the
best at it, you could know, okay, I might have
a shot at it here. Because I remember like me
and Dylan did that once, kirkla Amber did that once.

(33:51):
I think Kyle did that with maybe even Kirkland too,
Like it just became a game that was always like, yeah,
do strikers, we can figure that out, And yeah, I
have good memories and all leve all the animations too,
so yeah, lots of good memories and I you know,
obviously it'll be in the pool. It's not gonna I'm
sure we'll play it at the twenty four hour stream,
but I hope it pops up in the Gauntlet Cup
a game because it's in there, so I hope. I
hope it gets picked somewhere around there. And always always

(34:13):
love this. I feel like for the most part, there's
been a couple like destroyed matches, but for the most part,
I feel like they stay pretty pretty close. So yeah, Strikers.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
I feel like now that the og ones On switch
easier to plug in for it, I feel like it's
been a few years since we actually whipped that one out,
so we should do that.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
Absolutely, it's so nice to have that there. So yeah,
number eight Mario Strikers, Number eight.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
This is a game I first played back in my hometown.
Grocery stores used to have big like indoor playgrounds. They
have ball pits, and they had like game remember rows
of game cubes that you could go so your parents
are shopping the groceries, you can just go in, sit
down and just play some GameCube and this is where's.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
The grocery store McDonald's.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
McDonald's too, Yeah, that was a grocery store, that's the McDonald's.
But yeah, I remember my aunts were shopping, and so
me and my cousin were just went and hang around
the ball pit and then run around and when finally
were like, okay, let's try the game cube was turn
it on and the game was in. There was Super
Mario Sunshine. This game is awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome, and

(35:18):
it just forever is going to be my favorite three
D Mario title by a long shot. It's just got
so much fantastic stuff in here, just the aesthetic, the coloring,
the missions, the theme, everything about it is just so awesome.
Just having like Flood with you and just going to
town and fighting off against like Bazard Junior. It's just

(35:39):
such an awesome time and everything down to the little
detail of just jumping into the like the Mario painting things,
going to the different worlds and collecting the Shine sprites
and oh my gosh, it's so great. When so that
when that game came out again for Mario's thirty fifth
anniversary on the three D All Stars, the big reason,
I mean probably like ninety five percent. The reason why

(36:01):
I bought that was because Sunshine was on there, and
replaying it again and beating it was just an absolute
d light and like just a highlight. So that game
is forever, it's it's locked into my top ten. It's
such a damn good time.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
Yeah. I was looking forward to replaying it, but Taylor
let me bore up for like a day and a
half and then told me.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
He, oh, you had it for way longer than that,
and you were even playing anymore.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
I was about to it is the next game, they
all and then I asked, when you're playing? She didn't
saying things all right, just lie to It's a weird
thing with this.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
She's playing her sixty four, she's playing the sixty four.
What's playing Mario sixty four right now?

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Not right now?

Speaker 4 (36:36):
No, she's packing, yeah, getting taking the post, taking my
Mario three D all Stars, kicking around the room.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Take that because that's where your sunshine is. Great, pick
Taylor Fields, No Mario sixty four, but it's you know,
it's good.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
That'd be my Mario game, Taylor. I'd be there with you. You.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
I don't have either on my list, but it's a
dead tie. To be honest, I think I went Dylan
with sixty four is a bit better. But I'm a
massive defender of Sunshine. Sunshine was a fantastic time.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
We can all agree that Odyssey is a low tierrio.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
I still don't play it yet, so I want to
get my hands off, but I feel like it's gonna
be because that's all he hears.
