Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, and welcome to side Quest.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
This is our weekly or sometimes multiple times a week
video game show here at Geek First, I'm your host
Stilmiss and I with me not my first time, Travis Snell?
Speaker 1 (00:12):
How are you doing tonight?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Very good? I'm excited. A couple of good things stuff about,
but one particular been waiting a long time and it's
like a nice Christmas surprise. It's not Christmas, but it
just came early, right. It's like opening a present on
the Christmas Eve before. That's what we do in our family,
or it picks one present to open. But this was
a surprise opening because we've thought again this Friday on
a Wednesday, come on true hump Day.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
It's true.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
And then we also have the sword Surfer Girclumbbatser. What's up,
my friend?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
What's up? What's up? No, I'm excited to be here. Yeah,
I've got some PlayStation stuff to talk about. And uh,
I didn't feel the Christmas drop like Travis did, but
I think there was still some some spices that were
added to this the state of play. I'm excited to
unravel with you guys.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, this is a fun, funny just kind of I
don't know, I guess a week. You know, at the
start of this week for side Quest, we did predictions
on specifically the Xbox Showcase and Summer Game Fest, didn't
know about PlayStation happening, and then PlayStation out and or
were dropped. And then I think as we're I did
a live watch long If you want to go see
some live reactions, you can go back and watch that
live stream.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
But I think as we're going.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Through it, me and Travis were like, Okay, maybe we'll
do a side quest absolutely, maybe we'll have stuff to
talk about score.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
It was going back and forth through me.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
I was like, I could probably crank this out in
twenty minutes here.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
You know, they had some things and stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
It's like, I don't know if we need to, you know,
drop everything and do an extra episode here. But then
I think in the second half it really came together
and there was a few more things to talk about.
Its overall an interesting and show worthy of talking about.
But I guess, yeah, just quick shout it here. So
later on the week, Summer Game Fest is happening, so
you can tune in either Friday night probably for a
live stream there or Saturday morning for that podcast episode.
I'm also going to try and do another live watch
(01:51):
along on Friday for that, so check out with the
YouTube if you want to watch along with me.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
There what's in a Summer games Fest?
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Again, it's at two pm as well, so I.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Might try me please do, but yeah, like I'll say,
we're from home sets, so I could be in the
control room today. You didn't notice it because I caught
you at a time when you were thinking, so you're
like going like this by me? And Sidney did pop
in for like a point five second on the stream.
People can see the first appearance of her. I just
turn on the camera with her face and then I
turn it off. Right, you didn't even know it's because
you were like you were like.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I saw you in the little room down there. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Ye, so but yeah, maybe it might pop in here
and there. But yeah, that'd be fun because it's always
a good time.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
So yeah, and then on the regular side Quest Tuesday,
we will cover the Xbox Showcase, and then you know,
there's a million other things happening this weekend, so if
there's any other fun details, we'll probably cover them there
as well. And then at some point we'll do some
switch to coverage Taylor just jetted off to GameStop right
now to go get his who knows in me and
Travis will get ours. So at some point, you know,
just subscribe because that's the best way. As soon as
(02:48):
we drop something, you will see it right then and there,
or just hit up in the discord. I'm sure we'll
be talking about things in there as well. It's be
a hectic week of side quest, but very fun. Just
so many video game things to talk about.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
It's exciting.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, Deadline shipped tonight, even though they told me he
was gonna get here tomorrow. I don't like like those odds,
so I feel like that, you know, pure later ship tonight.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Do you know six was that from Inklona that it
shipped somewhere or is that from like.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I got no details on that yet. It's still track. Yeah,
it could be Denmark or something, so that would be insane.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
If they shipped it from Denmark.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
That's must be some tax loophole, some terrif loophole to Denmark. Okay,
let's let's get into this showcase. You know, as usual,
we're not going to break down every single thing, but
I also have don't really know what Kirkland's too hyped
about here because he wasn't in the discord today. So
I think I'll try and bring the things up that
you want to talk about as well. But I guess
(03:41):
just super duper top level thoughts. I kind of talked
about how the show kind of sped up as it
got along, But what were your what were your thoughts
on this thing overall? Kirkland, I don't think you were
watching live right, so you would have tuned in, like.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Yeah, I know. I I watched the fifty five minute
video that just PlayStation posted there on YouTube, and I've
definitely seen these stated plays before, but I feel like
the most recent gaming thing I've watched would have been
a Nintendo Direct, and this felt very directy to me,
just like like jumping from game person comes in quick chat,
and like even like the transition windows. It was just
(04:13):
tripped me out. It just it felt like I was
watching it direct, but no, it was. I thought it
was fine. There was definitely some titles where I was
just kind of fast forwarding, but I thought overall, I
never felt like trapped on, like oh I have to
watch this to get to my next thing. But I
guess that's what happens. We don't watch it live, but yeah,
it was it was pretty good. I was expecting just
(04:35):
like The Big Juice kind of maybe at the beginning
in the end, but I thought overall it was. It
was trinkled in there pretty good and there were some
surprises for me for sure on this I think the
biggest one would have been DO three, especially that Dylan Weird.
You and I were just talking about it not too
long ago, so I got pretty hype by what was
shown here, and yeah, I'm overall I thought it was
(04:58):
pretty pretty good. There was a couple that I was
hoping to get a little bit more information on. I
think the biggest one would be the Sword of the Sea.
I can't remember what it is, but when that first one,
that one was first shown, I was really intrigued. So
to get a little bit more confirmation that it is
just on the PlayStation catalog here and just seeing a
little bit more of that game, I think that's like
shot right up my hype level. So I can't wait
(05:20):
for that one. And yeah, but overall it was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Mm hm, I kind of spoiled your thoughts, Travis, but
anything you else you want to add their top.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Level because I spoiled my thoughts. I'll throw it to
the you know, gimmick co host s Pups First Finance.
I was like, this might be the least exciting staateeplayll.
That's exactly what's my thoughts the whole time. I was like,
I would still do it because I committed to it.
I'm like, I can knock out, Like I said this
in fifteen twenty minutes, because I think it was a
combo of there's a lot of things that didn't speak
to me, and then there's some stuff in the middle.
(05:48):
Maybe a little bit, but it's the back half honestly
the last two months in particular. And I also slought
the I think Kirkland's right about the whole the direct feel,
which is a good or bad thing. Sometimes REX can
just feel like they're just throwing a bunch of stuff
that you don't care about at you. And I feel
like this was this. And it also didn't feel like
it had like a rhythm where it would have a
VR game and we get a couple of games later
(06:09):
and then fifteen minutes later it's like, oh, we're back
to doing VR. Usually it's like, oh, there's a block
here or there's like a five even just little stuff
like having two games with sword and the title back
to back, like it felt like.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
See sorry, see and then see remnant or yes.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Well, to me, it felt like they forgot to do
something for like summer games this week, and like what
do we got, Well, let's just throw some stuff together
and we'll do that. I know that's not the case,
but it felt very messy. It did not feel like
it had a good rhythm to it. I felt like
lots of the games that had like great showings, you know,
like they did the catalog stuff, which was fine, but
there wasn't to me any like I guess there was
(06:44):
that one game that is like a Day one launch,
but even the games that were coming back, like, there
wasn't evil games. They weren't even remakes remasters there like
the original games. It just it felt very lacking, and
up until the last two, I legitimly was gonna say
this felt like they didn't want to be left out
of the conversation for summer games, so it's be like, oh,
don't forget about us, we're PlayStation but really it would
(07:05):
have been like no, you should have sat back down.
So that's a thing overall, because we usually do these
like out of five, I'm like a two point five
to three, Like I'm very close to a fail. I
think it's, like I said, a combo of just the
show and games that were for me, and it just
I feel like too there was Sony even said like
expect big things and we got that. But I don't
think you should say that for just a couple big reveals.
(07:26):
I think Bond is a big reveal and the Marvel
game is a big reveal. But when you say like, oh,
we're having we're having a big showcase, that's where you
know we're saying, I play there some big things coming,
I guess, but that almost makes it feel like you're
gonna have forty minutes of just grip and rip it wow,
great stuff where sure like you can show the ghosts
of Yo Tai you know, oh next month we're gonna
(07:47):
but you don't need that. That's just like, oh, what
are we getting here? And okay, nothing else, you know.
So yeah, it was one of the weaker ones in
a while, but the back half saved it and I'm
very excited to talk about those two and Malli. A
couple of this stuff the end, so mm.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Hmmm hmm yeah cool. So yeah, I'm just gonna rifle
off a few things here that I you know, if
you want to go back and check with the live
stream where I did share a couple thoughts on these.
But if you guys have any thoughts on these ones,
you know we can bring up now. Luminous Arise, Pragmata,
Romeo is a dead Man, Bloodstained Thief, VR, Tides of Tomorrow,
(08:18):
see Off Remnants, the MGS Delta thing, and Digimon any
of those speak to you guys that do you want
to bring any of those up?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
The only thing I want to say about what was
the dead Man one again?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Romeo is a dead Man.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
That's the one that had like some weird multiverse like
lots of big explosions and stuff.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Going on, right, very violent.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, it looked not anything that I'm like, oh, I
gotta play, but there was flashes of it that looked interesting.
I'd like to see more of it, but that's the
game maybe I will get when it's on a streaming
service or very very cheap. And then the other one
with the lumins Arise, that was a weird start to me.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
I thought that was the intro to the state of play.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I'm like this is I like this so confused because
they've done weird stuff like that before, So I definitely
did not put a pass.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Them in my opinion, Like I guess they had the end.
But what I would have done is would have separated
those two. I would have had Bond or Marvel start
and then Bonder Marvel, and I actually would have started
with Bond and then just be really hyped and you continue,
where for me, it felt like it took a while
for just any juice, just a drop of it to
come out. So I would have started really hot and
then ended really hot where they're they're building up, but
(09:24):
there was a built to the point where I think
multiple of us thought, Okay, there's not much here, but
other than those two, nothing to add.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Yeah, uh yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
The the blend Stained, the blood Stained game, that little
like two point five D side scroller.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
It.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
I was intrigued by the fact that I thought it
was like couch co op, and then further reading it
seems like you just kind of switch between the two
characters as the one player. So I didn't see a
confirmation or on confirmation if that is, let.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Me see the first one. I don't think it does,
but yeah, I liked.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
The gameplay look, and then just thinking of playing that
couch co op was really intriguing to me. But then, yeah,
I was kind of deflated.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
By Bloodstained Ritual. The Night five years after its release
receives a co op Okay update, so I guess co
op is in there pre launch or at least five
years later.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
You can expect it away.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Five years Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm not I'm not
itching to get in there, but for what was shown,
I think it would be a fun couch co op adventure.
So that one was kind of intriguing to me. Karen,
is that did you say that one? Is that like
the that one?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
I was gonna mention later, Okay, yeah, you can bring
it up now if you want. Well, all I was
going to say is that, like, it's cool. There's a
demo out today. It's a climbing game. We've seen it before,
but yeah, I downloaded the demo to haven't had a
chance to check it out yet, but I'll talk about
it on the side.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Quest.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
I was like, this is a different game, this is
a this is a rock line game, and like just
just what was shown I was intrigued by. I'm not
a mountain climb or anything like that, but it it
just I like the art style, I like the look
of it. I like games that just like put so
much emphasis on moving around, Like I guess Desk Stranding
could be a good example of that, just managing like
the different trains and whatnot. So you have finish one
(11:04):
day one day, Travis, I'll get there.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
I think dealing on that calendar with the desk Stranding review,
you could probably take that off. Yeah, and it's just
still gonna be a duo there.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
But yeah, kirkling with the game.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
I couldn't remember when I was talking on the stream,
Jussant was that climbing game from a couple of years ago,
And for me, it was like it was a cool
experimental game, had like a or experiential sort of thing.
It was a little more visual less focus on the mechanics,
Like the climbing was kind of basic and easy. You
just kind of walked through the game. It's more about
the experience of it. But that's one thing I really
like about Karen is that it seems like it's dipping
more into the uh, you know, the deep mechanics of climbing,
(11:38):
like positioning your feet in really important spots and your
hands and all that and the balancing of weight. And
then also too, there's a shot in this trailer where
the character's hands were like all ripped up and they're
like taking them up, and like, maybe that's just a
cut scene, but to me, that's so related. Like a
big part of climbing is like I feel like every
time I jump off the wall, I'm like looking at
my hands. I'm like, oh, maybe a couple things ripped
up or like maybe I'm good, but I feel like
(11:59):
I'm just so more, so much more obsessed with my
hands than I ever have been than before I started climbing.
So that was a very relatable thing. I hope that's
a mechanic like taking care of your hands and stuff too.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
I thought it was. It looked like a gameplay where
you're like wrapping your hands.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah, even if it's simple like that, like I'm so down.
So yeah, I'm very very excited for that guy. But yeah,
the demo is out there now, so.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Hope your hands never get that brutal as you're climbing.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Just early days it was rough, but now I have
a lot of callousies. But even then a couple of
weeks ago, I had a bloody mess. It's uh yeah,
it's part of you know, it's part of what you
sign up for.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Yeah. And then the last one, Romeo is dead man.
I this one just looked like an anime to me,
Like I just feel like I've like seen a similar
type of like ARC or not arc, just like idea
for a character. And the gameplay just looked fun. It
just it just looks Yeah, it looks crazy, it looks good.
Different art styles for sure, but yeah, I was intrigued
(12:52):
for sure by this because I feel like this is
set up, it's like a certain art style. But then
the actual gameplay it just looks so much more trip
in my mind.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah, have you guys played No More Heroes? Did you
play that back in the day?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
No, because this is it.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, this is the same team that made that game.
In it like that's what stowed to me. Even just
watching the trailer. It's very much seems like a spiritual success.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Or to Okay, cool No More Heroes.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Is it that scale too or is this like a
bigger step up?
Speaker 1 (13:18):
You know what?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
I only played the first game, so maybe the I
think the other games do get pretty wild, but the
first one you're like, I think, walking around like a
town and malls and basic stuff. So it's definitely an
evolution of that, or at least from the first one.
But yeah, I don't think i've played like two or
three or whoever any of those games there are.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Yeah, Like at first, went started as like I don't know,
but maybe maybe it's like the first person shooter, you know,
I was asking Kirkling about fucking Cowboy Bebop and stuff,
and now this maybe something's changing in my core. But
just visually though, just those attacks, like this just looks
like this'd be a very fun game. So this could
be a game I said, I might wait for a
stream or something. If it like reviews very well, I
(13:54):
could see myself maybe edging over towards it because it
just it looks like something I very much want to experience.
And is this one just PS five because that's what
says in the trailers, but I wasn't sure if that's
just because there it's this.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
I saw a post that a lot of a lot
of the stuff here was like, well actually Xbox, but
a lot of it was like mostly PC as well.
I would assume this game would also be PC. It
seems like PlayStations maybe even with their first party stuff,
trying to go down that route a little bit more.
But Travis, you should play No More Heroes because I
think the protagonist's name in that game is Travis.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
There's a lot of the most.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Iconic famous Travis and video games I think is him.
So yeah, and one very very random some my next game,
I'll put you in.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
There's a playable character.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
You're in the credits. Now, you're in the credits of
my game. Check out Potion problem on Steve. Funny thing
because we a few a few hours, maybe a couple
of days ago, we were talking in the discord of
is Marathon gonna show up here? And it didn't like
maybe it was in a sizzle real thing, but I
don't think it was in here at all.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
But it's funny.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
When I went to the play on the PlayStation PS five,
I went, you know, want to go wishless. A couple
of games went on like the state of play Like
you know, there's like a tab you can click on
the state of play stuff and it like takes you
quickly to all the games that were just announced it
had Marathon in there, so I wonder if Marathon was
planned to have like a bigger trailer or something, and
then like very last minute they pulled it because it
seemed odd that it was in there. Uh, but who
(15:15):
knows what's going on there, So I just wanted to.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Shut that out.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Sorry, I gotta break the follower for a second because
I see t dropping vacation. I feel like, as you
mentioned the bing this cast, and I'm gonna dovetail it Taylor,
it's in line right now. There's in line right now.
And he's like, oh, apparently I'm hearing some word that
you can go up to the front of the Glory
pay and get your console. And then five minutes later
he's like it was a fucking lie. So just jipped
(15:42):
him back into the back line.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
The guy that told him that gave up and left, like,
you know, not even there.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
I can't wait till we talked to him next onodcast.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
I wish he was doing this in the GV Public Service.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Yeah yeah, but sorry, I just saw I talked about
it on the Originals.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I just had a notification it was a fucking line.
I usually don't get that notification many times a life.
I thought it was tailor bring it up, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Taylor is choice.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
He yeah, it's always a choice when he's dropping an
F bomb, like he means it when he drops an
F bomb.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Because you're more than know of this stuff with the
Romeo game, do you have like an idea of how
long this has been cooking? Ak, like when I could
maybe expect this next year, like not like September twenty fifth,
like it just like even like a quarter or do
you think that's still kind of up in the air
right now? Oh?
Speaker 1 (16:31):
Man, I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
I mean that that last game came out a couple
of years ago. If you I just went on his
page and looked at all the games he's made, and
maybe he's just like a.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Producer on some whatever. But it's like an insane amount
of output.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
So I definitely seems like it's it's would be ready
to go next year, but time of year, who knows.
It's so early in the year, and I feel like
a lot of people aren't going to drop a month
until they see when well I guess they know, but
like when it gets closer to j and like if
it's solidified, then I think we'll see more release dates,
but I don't know and if they can probably get
out before GTA, But anyway, yeah, okay, let's keep going
(17:02):
on here. So yeah, Kirkland sort of the Seed is
the newest game from the team that most notably made Journey.
And this seems like Journey but you're riding on a
sword skateboard situation. But yeah, I know you love Journey,
so I'm sure you're pretty stoked to see this because
it looks almost like a sequel to Journey.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
In a way.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
It really does. Yeah, I almost forget like some of
the other titles that this developers made, like a ab
Zoo I think.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Is like the underwatery one. Yeah, and then they have
another one that I can't remember.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah, I can't look at that what it's called either,
but I should definitely check those out. Because Journey is
I would say it's one of my favorite games of
all time, and it's so like small scale. It's one
that I've played. I've played it probably four or five times,
like in completion, and every time it's just like one
sit down, like one Saturday, like I just I just
want to It's like I'm putting on a one of
my old movies that I love, just put on Journey.
(17:55):
It's just such a great story with no words to
it all at all. I feel like the characters of
so much personality even though they don't say anything. Just
like great audio design and the visuals is just something
that blew me away way back in the day, Like
this is a PS three title game, the original Journey,
and this one just some of the close ups of
our protagonists, Like it just looks so beautiful. So I'm
(18:16):
excited to see this on my you know, my o
led TV and the nice PS five graphics and just
the fact that it's day one on the catalog. That
just gets me so giddy because I this would have
been a Day one drop for me anyways. Wouldn't imagine
it would have been a ninety dollars game, so I
would have been okay dropping, you know whatever whatever it was.
(18:36):
So I'm really looking forward to this one. I could
definitely see this potentially surpassing what it is for Journey,
just because I imagine the scale is bigger. Yeah, Like
just one of my favorite things about the game of
Journey is like the different biomes that you go to,
and it's really obvious what your destination is at the
start of the game, you see like the mountaintop and
(18:57):
you're like, hey, that's where I have to get to.
I have to get the peak of the mountain. Like
there's like kind of a mountain peaky looking object in
this one, and I'm like, I can't wait to get
there in this adventure. So yeah, I'm for the first
time I saw this, I knew this was gonna be
a game for me, and just getting a little bit
more shown here this is getting me really excited. And
it just looks beautiful, looks really really good. Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, The Pathless and Flower are some of the other
games that they've.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
I have played Flower, so that makes sense. It's a
very journey like game.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
And then so yeah, this game's coming out in August nineteenth,
pretty soon. And yeah, as you mentioned on the catalog there,
so that's pretty cool. Could get I feel like that's
the first time we've seen this game, which is a
pretty short amount of time from release to think it is,
or from announcement to release.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
But we saw we.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Saw some game I don't know gameplay, but we saw
the character before and like doing like things in the past,
because that's where I first would have saw it, can't
where that was, but maybll look into that.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Speaking of a very Kirkling coded game, Neo three, tell
me about this one? What also is this an announcement
of this or this pop up prior because my memories.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
I have not seen anything about that. This was the
biggest surprise for me. I think watching the state of play,
just because I knew about the double O seven from
like the post Travis was posting, so that was a surprise.
But this was the biggest surprise to me while watching it,
and right away, like as soon as I saw like
Team Ninja a part of it, I'm like, holy fuck,
like this is Neo three here, and then just seeing
the villains and whatnot, and I think this looks really good.
(20:27):
It just great timing, especially with you and me, Dylan.
We were just talking about kind of the difference between
Neo one and Neo two and this one. You can
like really clearly see like this step up from like
it's a lot more open world. There's like a mechanic
where you can like swap kind of your your character's
fight style between like a Samurai and a ninja, which
(20:48):
in the first game is the one I played the most,
and in that one you can kind of build your
character to be like a ninja. So it's kind of
cool in here, like you're not really just going into
one camp on what playstyle you want to be, Like
you you can have the full Samurai and then you
just like click a button and switches to a ninja
and like, I don't know, it's pretty simple. I guess
it's effective there. But yeah, I mean, like what makes
(21:10):
these games fun and enjoyable is like the difficult boss battles.
It's a soul's like game to its core, and just
some of the bosses that they're shown in here, it
just just look absolutely crazy and visually looks really good.
I like the world that they were shown. Yeah, it
just feels like a natural progression of the series from
NIA one being like a very linear you load into
(21:31):
a mission and then that's and then once you get
to the end of the mission cut scene, you go
into like the next mission. That's kind of the first
one played out. Second one a little bit more the same,
a little bit more open, and then this one it's
almost like an elden Ring type situation where you can
just see like the big area to go exploring, and yeah,
I don't know. This one definitely has me intrigued. I'm
(21:51):
not gonna right away commit like day one because I
just haven't been like the second game or anything. But
it's cool that we're getting the because it shows that
people are buying these games and supporting it. And yeah,
I just think it's a really interesting was that I.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Say, Okay, Kirk is gonna buy it because I remember
a long time a guys like you know, Elen Ring.
I'm not I'm gonna beat Dark Souls whatever before I
get to that randomly open up a side quest. Oh
so el Ring.
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Shout of the Air Tree DLC combo pack. Haven't even
touched the DLC yet, but I mean it was a
great deal. I had to get it. I like supporting
the uh, the studios that need it, not that from
Software needs my support, and the biggest companies ever.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
I remember that you can't get to that DLC to
get to certain spot either, so you can't touch it
if you want.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
So Yeah, absolutely pretty deep in the game.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
This has a demo, elimited time demo that he says
out today, are you gonna download that and check it out?
Speaker 1 (22:42):
You're just gonna wait for the full.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Release, definitely, definitely. I want to try just just the
new mechanic that was introduced. Yeah, definitely, I'll report back
next side post them on. How about that?
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Yeah, I'll I'll talk about Karen, you can talk about Neo.
We'll just do a little karens.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
That's a demo. I also want to try somebody we
can both talk, Okay.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Next up for me was Silent Hill F, which is
a new Silent Hill game. You know, I was watching
the stream with my big expensive headphones on, and so
the audio is like, really, what stood out to me here?
Just super unsettling, freaked me out, weird crying whimpers deep
in the background. It's it's horrifying stuff. And the enemy
design here too, really creepy.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
You kind of have like.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Mannequin type weird freaky puppet creatures that are contorted in
all sorts of weird ways. I really like this description
they have of the game. Silent F was built around
the Japanese horror concept of finding the terror and beauty,
suggesting that when something becomes too immensely beautiful and perfect,
it becomes deeply unsettling, which is not something I've really
thought about before, but I think that's a really fun
(23:46):
concept for just a game, but like specifically a horror
game to tackle in general.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
So I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
I think this seems really great, like the characters in
the setting. The only downside for this is I went
on the you know, to wishless this game on PlayStation,
and I don't know if it's a deluxe version or
someone who's ninety three dollars, and so I was like,
I don't know if I'm spending ninety three dollars on
this game, but but when it goes fifty percent off,
maybe I'll pick it up at that point. But I
don't know if games are just that expensive now or
(24:12):
once again, it could have been a deluxe version, but
I couldn't find a lower cheaper one. But anyway, I
think this game looks really great and when it, yeah,
when it becomes more affordable, I definitely am gonna pick
it up. Even though I don't haven't played any of
this series before, this seems like a good place to
just hop in and check it out.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Yeah, this one was interesting to me because it it
I mean, it's a very different style of Salent Hill
than I've seen in the past or what I've played
in the past, completely different air of the world, not
even speaking English, like it's truly Japanese title. Even with
like the villains, they just look like some Japanese folklore
type villains with with some of the dolls and whatnot.
(24:50):
And but all that being said, it's still felt like
the same rules apply with Silent Hill, where like, like
the our protagonists in this town, something happens, the fog
comes in and just like a hell escape and there's
just these really creepy I like, to me, the thing
with Sion Hill that stands out the most is the
creepy like villain designs of just like these grotesque things
(25:10):
that just like just a look of them just makes
you unsettled. And I definitely caught that from these the yeah,
just the showcase here, and I think the psychological element
is something that really stood out to me of just
when the character is basically getting murdered and they like
wake up and then it's like a different character. So
I was a little bit just confused on on just
the storyline, but I also didn't want to like fully
(25:32):
get that spoiled, like I would like to kind of
get that explained to me during the gameplay there. But yeah,
this is when I wasn't expecting at all, and as
soon as I saw the title, I was I was
super intrigued and it kind of went a completely different
route that I would have expected Sign Hill because I
feel like, in my mind, it's like PT that's like forever,
like the next Silent Hill game that I was expecting,
and then that one actually came out, right, it was
(25:54):
called Silent Was it just called Silent Hill?
Speaker 3 (25:58):
No?
Speaker 4 (25:59):
No, not, but like Silent Hills like that was or
like Silent Hill. I'm gonna I'm gonna have to google that, but.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
I don't think it's uh nothing PT related ever actually
came out.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
I don't think Silent Hill too. Okay, so it was
just Silent Hill too, it was like the remake. Then yeah,
there you go.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Okay, quit.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
I'm curious, Travis, Like, I feel like, obviously you love
horror movies. I feel like with horror games you're a
little more picky. But yeah, did this one, I don't
know speak to you, yes or no?
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Yeah. So this is one of those where I said, like,
there's iffy stuff. As far as pacing in the conference
goes and then there's the side of just things they
didn't enjoy. Did not enjoy this. This didn't look like
anything for me. It looked kind of generic in my opinion.
It didn't like and I played Silent Hill. This just
didn't look like it would leave its mark. I just
I saw nothing here and I liked that description you
(26:55):
gave there, but I just felt like I was I'd
love to feel that in the actual you know, trailer here,
maybe get them in the game. But yeah, I do
love horror games. I think that can be one of
my favorite genres when done correctly, because I think you're
just taking out such an immersive experience that might be
the best one to mercy because you're you're locked in
and you're always worry about scare, but you're also looking
the details because it's usually it's a mystery, it's a thriller.
(27:16):
There's always things going on. But uh, yeah, this was
did not do it for me. I was not a
fan of anything I really saw here. And I think
this looks like a like a highest scores seven at
ten like yellow on Metacritic. That's what I'm predicting. I
know what it's gonna be. But it's gonna be yellow Metacritic,
and I just didn't do for Maybe I'll be surprised
and people tell me how great it actually is. But
(27:38):
some of those trade did not did not work for me.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
So fair enough, fair enough next time for me.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
A quick shout out here Final Fantasy Tactics The Evilise Chronicles.
This is a remakering mastery situation of an older game,
but you can still play that old style or this
new one. I don't love the art style that they
went with here, the new one. It just feels like
they took the pixlart and like blurred it so it
doesn't look pixely, but then it just looks kind of
fuzzy and weird. It seems like they've had some quality
(28:05):
of life stuff, which is great. I think the only
downside from me here is like tactics games, especially ones
like this that's like a handheld ass game for me,
like Triangle Strategy, fire and blow them into the breach.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
I want to play that handheld.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
I want to have it as like a second screen
kind of experience. And so I don't know if i'd
be picking this up on PS five, but I'm definitely
you know, I've only dabbled a little bit in Final Fantasy.
Tactics a really cool kind of area within the tactic genre,
so I'll probably pick this up at some point. It's
cool to see that this series is getting fresh entries,
like they had the Tactics overre like remake thing that
(28:35):
they released a couple of years ago, and then this,
So I like that they're still releasing these. But I
do feel like they were kind of best suited on
like a PSP or you know, I guess this game
came out in the original one came out on like
game Boy Advance and stuff back in the day, and
then stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
But yeah, I guess.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
You know, people do have the PlayStation portal a few
people in the world, so maybe they could play them
on the go or just like on the couch kind
of thing.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
I had nothing about Tactics. Yeah, it wasn't my game.
You did remind me. There was that moment in the
conference when they were showing that new controller or whatever,
and you though as people, but I thought to you, like,
oh man, are they creating their own like a new
portable thing again?
Speaker 2 (29:10):
They showed the fight stick. It looked before it was
a fight stick. It looked like something else.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
And that's where we at that point, like oh, no,
this would make sense as far as why they're saying, oh,
it's gonna be a big dick, and like, oh, if
they're bringing a portable console, that is a big thing.
But no, it was just a fight stick.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
So when I first saw the description for that, it's aid, yeah,
it said wireless, wireless fight stick, and then in my
mind I thought it was like a nunchuck equivalent. I'm like,
what the fuck are we doingstation, Like, come on, man,
let intend boxing you yeah. Yeah, and then it said
like for your fighting games, and then I'm like, in
my mind, I'm like, oh, this is like an exercise
thing like Mike Tyson Big Fight Night or something That's
(29:46):
cool though, you know, like Arcade Fighters are like very
I feel like they're really intense with like actually playing
with their fight stick. So it's kind of cool that
PlayStation is is doing it with just like Mortal Kombats
the Street Fighters, it's Marvel Tokens game that will be covering.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Oh we'll get to it, yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Yeah. No.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
They're big in the fighting game space, as you know.
They they own either fully or partially Evo like the
Fighting Game Championship series, so they're Yeah, they're big in
that space, so it makes sense that they would want
their own fight stick that they can earn some money
back sell at their tournaments.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
Things like that.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I'm sure get it in all their different verticals. How
about we take a very quick little jaunt also known
as a ad break.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
We're gonna show out.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Our Patren producers real quick, Aaron Braden, People of Darkness,
Jack Grant, Sam Super Bad, Mic tgg LM six or nine,
Jeremy ren Er, Charlie Rendell, and Cocktail Clay. Thank you
guys so much for supporting us and allowing us to
do like four episodes of side Quest this week. You know,
without your support, it's hard for us to do this
kind of stuff. But because you do support us, we're
able to just pump up the content like crazy, like
a couple of cows just being milked in the barn
(30:49):
for content. You know, every last juice of excitement we
have is being delivered to your Spotify or Apple. It's
the grossest way I could possibly describe that, But thank you,
thank you so much for supporting the show. But if
you don't support the show on Patreon, you will have
to listen to an ad break.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
So here it is.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Okay, we are back for the second half of this
State of play Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection. This is by
Digital Clips, who've been crushing it with the They make
kind of remake remaster collections, but then also interactive documentaries
at the same time, and that's what this is for
Mortal Kombat. So all the games included in here Mortal
Kombat one, two, three, three, Ultimate four, which we're all
(31:33):
I guess arcade games, and then they have game the
from GBA. They have Mortal Kombat Advance Deadly Alliance Tournament Edition,
and then they said there is an and More sequence.
One of these looked like an og game Boy game
as well, so I don't know if that would be
one of the game Boy Advance ones or otherwise. But
there's gonna be some other stuff in there as well.
So obviously it's just a nice collection of all these games,
(31:54):
but also include documentaries the making of these games.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
So I think this is this is great.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
You know, I've been really getting into Mortal Combat just
playing with you guys on the stream lately, and this
feels like a great way to go back and play
some of the old ones that I've missed, and then like
also learn about the development of them because they were
very unique and obviously the way they recorded in like film,
those animations and then put them into these old arcade
games was like pretty revolutionary at the time. So I
think it'll be really fun along with this other interesting
video game documentary stuff. And we don't get a ton
(32:20):
of video game documentaries. We get a few here and there,
but like digital Clips, they get like behind the curtain,
they get like all the juicy details, and then I think,
you know, we're joking on the stream that like the
Marvel Verus Capcom collection that you bought, Travis and we
played on the stream last year.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Is like really janky.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
It's like they kind of added a little bit more
like just a versus mode where you don't have to
do a weird story thing, like you kind have gone
above and beyond, and I think Digital Clips is the
kind of studio to do that. And if I don't
know if any of these games were super wonky and
the way they were set up back in the day,
but I think they would probably make them a bit better.
That's me assuming a little bit here, because I haven't
played all their collections, but I think this is really great.
(32:57):
And and Kirkland, you're a big Mortal Kombat guy. I
feel like this seems right up your alley to pick
this one up.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Yeah, I don't know if I will pick this one up.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
I'm surprised I'm the most typed on this from.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
The three I'm not buying.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Maybe it's because I haven't owned a lot of these games.
What I need.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
That's the thing is, like I I do love Mortal Kombat.
It's it's like one of the earliest games I played.
I had on the original Sega and my brother in
law he has a Sega and he got out and
like got some of these classic titles. So last time
I was over there, I think it was last summer,
I played Mortal Kombat again, like a game that I
haven't played as a kid, and I'm like, this was
my game, Like I I could pop off on this.
(33:37):
That game is so fucking difficult compared to the compre
the new ones, Like just the input you have to
be like so precise and man back in the day,
I feel like the AI on the on the bosses
or just crazy like like they are to punish you
and like really emphasize just you spamming the game and
just just getting better that way. So when I just
(33:57):
picked it up and played it for twenty minutes and
I couldn't even get past like the first guy that
I have to fight, I was getting a little bit demoralized.
So I think just those older style arcade fighters, I'm
just not as big of a fan on, even though
I like started that journey with them. I think this
is a really cool thing, just especially getting like the
behind the scenes aspect to it, and especially just having
all those titles in one place is pretty crazy. But
(34:21):
personally I feel like I would just opt for for
like MK one as the game that I would play
fair nowadays but still really cool and not something I
would have predicted.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Well, yeah, no, I won't because I bought that Marvel
collection and it was fun for the stream, played it
a couple times in then after sex, I don't play
it too much, and it was I will say, a
waste of money because we got our minds used, but
kind of in that category, and I think I'm spit
of Kirkland too, where I at least did grow up
with a lot of those games like even then, I
was waiting for like even arm again to pop up there,
like I played a lot of those back in the day,
(34:51):
along with the Killer Instinct. But I'm very happy it
sounds like you're getting because I just added it to
a list that we can't speak out about yet, don't
say with the list mystery list, mystery list, which will
be revealed on g.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Just like this game has mystery games that have announced.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
GVDA has events but also announcements, So stay tuned, you know,
stay tuned.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Yeah, next up, Astroball's getting five new levels this month.
I will play them and I will love them. That's
all I have to say about that.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
I was. I was happy for you because you were
to about them free, and when you're on the stream,
you're worried that I was going to be cost a
lot and or just cost anything. So I'm excited for
when I eventually get it, because that is on my
you know, to do list. Game that's one of those
you know, we'll just wait for a nice, juicy gasoline
type of sale. But that's cool. That more just content.
It keeps getting added to that and it was for
(35:37):
free too, so it's like, oh awesome.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
So yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
Okay, I think that takes us into the first big
dog of the showcase, which is Double seven First Light.
I think all of us were surprised to see this
here because earlier this week Iowai announced that they were
going to that they are having their own showcase on
Friday after SGF, So okay, maybe there's a SGF. You know,
we get like a quick trailer or something, and then
(36:02):
in their showcase they break it down more at the
very least, that's where we're gonna see the gameplay for
First Light. But instead we got like a pretty juicy
trailer here that shows off quite a bit, like really
introduces us to our bond shows us mostly cinematics, but
a few things in there that look, you know, they
kind of smell like gameplays the way I described it
earlier today. And then you know, because of this too,
like the store pages are up and there's some more
(36:22):
details on there as well that kind of weren't really
necessarily shown off in the trailer. So yeah, we actually
have a lot to chew on today, and it's fun that.
I don't know what else are they going to show
it later this week? I feel like we got so
much today, but.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Even more is coming hopefully a bit.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
I think we'll get like more of a maybe a
five ten minute along like gameplay sequence where it's like
fully in game and you just see what like five
ten minutes of gameplay looks like through here, maybe fade
out from a cut scene into like some gameplay and
then back into a cutscene something like that.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
But yeah, you guys are a big bond.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
Heads, way more bond headedness than me. But what will
be your guys's kind of top level thoughts of this
big juicy trailer we got here?
Speaker 4 (37:02):
I shoot first, Yeah, I mean this was interesting because
I feel like the first thing I saw about this
was the Chap was the Chap himself. There's some discussion
on on on a particular chat just about the character,
and it just gave me time to kind of think
about his face without hearing the voice or anything, no
(37:25):
like indication of what the game was. What is this calling?
It's like first, Okay, So I assumed it was gonna
be like an origin thing around the character, and I
thought the trailer was really solid. I'm iffy on the character.
I feel like when I first saw the image of him,
(37:46):
I'm like, whatever, it's not that bad. I don't know it.
To me, it looks better than the Avengers game that
like redid all those characters. I thought those characters looked
a lot worse then then what this would have been
for like a Bond like I don't know, he looks
like a young agent, Like like, I'm pretty okay with that.
As the trailer went on the trailer, but.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
He said he looks like a young Asian. I'm like, okay,
Bond can be Asian, but just this guy looks like that's.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
What I saw.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
But he almost pulled a Kyle Smid there.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Very pale, irish fellow looking quite Asian.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Agent agent And yeah, like I think the trailer was
really good, Like I was the thing that sold me
on this the most was kind of the storyline of
what it's shown and like what you're actually doing in
the game. The fact that this is the same studio
that brought us like Hitman, Like I'm seeing a lot
of those parallels and like similarities.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
What what hit Man?
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Hit There's Whitman's my name is Jonathan Hitman?
Speaker 4 (38:58):
Oh my god?
Speaker 3 (39:00):
There is Usually it was like Hitman franchise series.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Fair enough, fair enough, Like for Travis, all the time
when we critique, you say library, huh.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
I get my hard time for that, so I feel
I'm in a different I was fucked okay because my
grandfather said library, and I took it from him the
same way my mom said. So that's why I picked up.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Some of those.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
But yeah, that was a slip. I agreed with you guys,
that was I did it for the bid On afternoon.
I agree with you. It is crayon. It's still Saturday,
and it is like family.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
I was talking about young Asians.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I don't know you Hitmen, it's library, right, not library library.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Yeah, it is library, of course.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
I can say them, but now some of them for
the meme. But that was an hourban experience because I
thought we had swapped places like a freaking Friday situation there.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
I have a hard time over here. Anyways, hit Men franchise.
That sounds better. And yeah, I was really intrigued what
was shown. I think the game like could have looked
a little bit nicer. I don't know if I'm being
a really critique. Maybe I just watched the Witcher trailer
like before that, but I'm like, fuck, that just looks
like a quadruple A title versus what this is looks
(40:08):
like two stars D absolutely true. So yeah, that's like
my hypercritical thoughts on just the look of it. But
for himself, I'm not fully sold on it yet. I
did see an image I think it was at the
very end. It showed him in like the Agent Garb
where he had it looks like the Daniel Craig where
(40:28):
he's got like the turtleneck with like the holster thing,
and I'm like, well, there you go, that's Bond, like,
like he looks a lot more like Bond, and so
maybe it was just like the actual attire that he's wearing.
But again, this is like him going through the training
and like trying to get that double low status. So
I'm gonna try and give it a pass because the
trailer looks really good. It looks like it's gonna be
a fun game to play, especially just thinking about the
potential with like thinking about what Hitman hit Man did
(40:51):
with the freelancer inclusion and like if they want to
go that route and hear just the endless replayability, right,
that's super intriguing. And I feel like we've been wanting
a Double seven game since we were doing that retro
and talking about the what was it the Quantum Solace title?
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Travis, there you go, I suppose says it is the
sign up bonus is Gregg's.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Oh it actually is Craig's outfit.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
I saw as well, Oh really, okay, I gotta sign
up for that stuff then, because it's tough a lot
of those clothes in the Craig air I looked into buying. Man,
there are some expensive clothing.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
Just wearing a gun holster and your dance recital you
just stand in the back.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
There's lots of stuff that I wanted and I was like,
I can't afford that, or rightly so.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
So update live on air, Taylor Field has a Nintendo
Switch to console.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Assassinated by a hitman and they're taking his console.
Speaker 4 (41:44):
He's the multiple hitman.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Yeah it was. He had to decide between the Switch
and Madison, and he decided Madison, but they took the switch.
Check out our twenty eight weeks later retro. We'll ever
get there. It's my turn. Sure A very mixed on
this one. Don't think it looks bad. I think it's
gonna be a fun time. I I definitely hear some
people's thoughts of it, having like uncharted Nathan drakeisms, which
(42:08):
is interesting. I will blame you know, a guy in
the chat s pubs a little bit. He gave me
some of those descriptors in the video game chat. And
I love the Hitman franchise. I'm a big fan of
been playing those games my whole life. You know, blood
Money is my favorite. I know why. I don't know.
Other people love the other one, but I love the
Blood Money for just that's a game that probably has
(42:29):
damaged so much of how much I replayed certain mission
just over and over and over. So Hitman the franchise great.
Excited for Io to give us more updates on the game.
World assassins, right, I always forget what it is.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
It's a world as thank you.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
Yeah. So I'm excited for that because I can jump
back into that play that. It's always good time. It
did look a little almost too much like Hitman, which
I was not. I don't know how I feel about that,
because like, in my mind it should be, well, you
love these games, so it's just like you want a
semi reskind version of that. But at the same time,
(43:02):
I don't because even those blurbs that we got in
the video game, which you'll talk about like the discord
there that does sound very similar to some of the
newest Hitman And that's where it's like, I really don't know.
I have to see what's gonna happen. I think the
scope of the scale of the story, they look like
they're hitting the beats there, So I trust this to
be a good game. I actually don't think this game
(43:23):
will be lower than like an a that Tan in
my opinion, just because the team and even then if
it does just end up, hey, it's kind of hit
Memory skin, but it's Bond character's lower. More of the
gadgets because Hitman has some stuff, but he's not like
a get, you know, Asian forty says, is not using
a bunch of gadgets right, like a laser watch or
stuff like And I agree with other people, and I'm
supposed to this in the discord too, but like, I
(43:43):
agree that the trailer overall feels way more ache into
the older Bomb where it's a bit more cheesy, a
bit more tongue in cheek, and I think that works
better for a video game. I think the Craig movies
taking themselves more seriously that did propel the franchise to
get bigger than ever was. But I think in a
video game, you kind of want, you know, a car
that has maybe you know, missiles on it or whatever.
(44:04):
So and I think this the essence of Bond. They
got just certain set pieces there. I'm very happy. It
sounds like if they have new music, it's similar to
Bond if not a lot of the tracks were old
like it sounds like they got the license to that
it like, I guess it's a no dab, but you
never know video games sometimes, right if you're gonna get
that music. So the second some of those scores are
hitt him like, Okay, this is gonna help me feel
(44:25):
like Bond, like the Niana Jones game did with having
the John Williams scores and stuff like that, and plus
new ones on top of that. For me, it's gonna
be the story. And yeah, the guy character, uh not
feeling Bond. They've not confirmed as Patrick Gibson. I rewatch
a trailer that's a one thousand percent Patrick Gibson. It
sounds so it's different because he's using part of his
Irish accent, which people don't get. Mad Pierce was Irish,
(44:47):
Kirkland was had some weird brand going on about the
Irish and the Scottish British. You can talk in a second.
Speaker 2 (44:52):
Don't bring up my dirty that he doesn't know him man,
he doesn't know countries, don't know what's going on here.
Speaker 3 (44:58):
But so he's he's using some of his Irish accent.
But there's certain words he said where I've heard him
say that in a dex original sin like that is
Patrick Gibson, and I feel like I called that really
quick off the hopes. So I'm like, that's that man's
face I told you, And I like that guy. I
like and I will actually say this, like he is
a good looking guy, but I zero Bond vibes whatsoever.
(45:22):
I know people be like, oh wait for the Florence.
I know that, but if you look at all the Bonds,
I'd say, other than George lasmbye, they and he had
got one movie. There's a reason Clay not a good
movie there. There's just something about them and I maybe
I'll pull it up here. I'm not gonna screen share
because I'm not gonna go on my discord whatnot. But
there's like this good image that's going around of Patrick
(45:43):
Gibson right now. He's thirty and Sean Conroy when he
played Bond for the first time was thirty one. And
you know, it might just be the generations right and whatnot,
but like the oh, it's oh wait, I'm on the
wrong camera. Hang on right there? Uh there's now. I
know Patrick Gibson's video game is more glossy, but this
(46:04):
sounds mean you have to be to me ruggly handsome
to be Bond. None of us or any male that
has been on the Geekers podcast could be Bond. You
need to have a certain type. And I think Patrick
Gibson's a good looking guy, but it's also the ore
of it. And I just think story wise, right away,
I'm like, oh, I knew this was the pitch they've
(46:24):
always pitched. Is like, oh, learn how Bond became Bond.
The second I saw a story is like, I don't
want this. I would rather as pick up where I
know they want to learn how he gets the watch
and all this stuff, but I don't want the young Bond.
I kind of maybe somewhere almost like the Batman, where
it's year two or year three of Bond, but to
be picking up right away, I don't know. So yeah,
(46:45):
the Bond is. I'm very fifty to fifty on. I
think the game will be good. So I was excited
to get this, but it definitely has left me not
as excited as I was hoping. But hey, last episode
Sidequist I did get right. I said I was gonna
be a movie TV actor, and it was a movie
TV actor.
Speaker 1 (47:00):
I wanted it younger than you expected.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
Yeah, younger than I expected. I did still wanted to
be an older one, but yeah, and I suppose to
bring up something there too. I love the trope of
Double nine being a villain because Double eight is the
villain in Gold Night, which is one of my favorite movies.
So don't get me wrong. I think there's lots of
good stuff here. The stuff on Friday could change my
mind more with it Bond, though, I don't know about
the look and the vibe. I think there's something a
(47:23):
little off there, but you never know. But this is
a is a day one purchase for me. I've seen
enough that it still looks like it's gonna be a
good time. I still think it's gonna be an eight
bar minimum and then we'll go from there. And there's
some other fun set pieces in there. There's fun like
he's using watch to shoot some guy in the butt
with a dart or something. It's like, yeah, that's that's
the stuff I want from Bond. So still not a
massive disappointment, but definitely caught off guard on some aspects
(47:47):
for you know, my favorite spine or.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
So yeah, no, I mean I think all the critcisms
you guys bring up are completely fair, and for me,
it's just like I'm less precious about Bond, Like I
don't care that he looks kind of differ. It's funny,
you know, my prediction what I was going through is like, oh,
this guy's kind of looks like you're a loanhal the
guy who like voices Spider Man in the games. And
like it's kind of a different route. It's not what
I think of her. Bomb Like, you know, it doesn't
(48:10):
really matter to me. Ends up, you know, I think
you are right there with mister Gibson. And then yeah,
as far as like this looks like a Hitmann reskin
to you, like that's like best case scenario for me,
you know, like I'm so greedy that I would be
thrilled if IOI just made nothing except for hit Man
more levels for Hitman World assassination for the next seventy years.
That would make me happiest because like they've just perfected it.
(48:31):
There's enough variety in that system, you know, little new
things going to new areas.
Speaker 1 (48:36):
I would just take that forever.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
And so the fact that it feels like kind of
half that and then half like, let's focus more on
some action stuff. We'll throw some more set pieces in there,
which you know specifically in in hit Man like as
it goes through and I guess I'll just say in
a noll And spoiler way, but like the final mission
of hit Man three in particular is like a very
James Bondie set PC type thing like that. Now, of
(48:58):
course you're still for seven, who can, like at most
do like a brisk walk as like his movement speed,
like he can't even sprint or anything like that, so
the movement is still a little bit clunkier, not what
you'd expect for like a big action movie. But they
get to that kind of stuff in that trilogy, and
I feel like that just feels like a bit of
an evolution there. So yeah, I'm super duper excited for this,
Like it's way more hit Many than I you know
(49:20):
I was hoping it would be, but I kind of
thought it'd be more of a divergence, but it seems
like it's very much sticking to that, and I'm just
thrilled because it's you know, for me, Ioi and Arcane
are the two best like level designers in like the
game space right now, and so like, no matter what
we get here, like you're still having like the best
level designers in the world making bond missions. Like fuck yeah,
(49:41):
that's gonna be amazing. And it seems like these levels
are kind of be not just like a linear progression
in that same uncharted way, and I'm sure uncharted like
later on the series gets to like some bigger open
zone areas where you can go around and do different stuff,
I imagine, But like, you know, if we get like
a little bit of a hybrid of like the somewhat
openness of a Hitman map, but then with like more
specific whether it is just like you know, the cut scene,
(50:03):
like the big action cutscene type things that take you
in and out of the missions, or if those are
woven into the middle. Not exactly sure how that'll work,
and if it's structured in the same way as a
hit man of like you just load into an individual level,
or if this is more of a story where it's like, Okay,
you do this little tiny sequence here and then you
get to this big huge map, little tiny sequence here.
That's kind of how Indiana Jones was last year, and
I feel like they might follow that same sort of trajectory.
(50:24):
But yeah, I mean especially reading up on like the
scene page, getting some more info there, and it seems
like that replayability of missions to me when I saw
that replay favorite missions is like, oh yeah, most games
don't advertise this, right, but obviously when IOI says it,
it means something. It means that the levels have a
lot of depth and like variety in the way you
can go through them, and that, as you said Travis
with Blood Money, like you just want to play through
(50:45):
these levels over and over and over again. So yeah,
I don't think I could be more thrilled, Like this
is perfect me. I think what you said, kirkland A
like visually it looks like maybe a little bit lesser
than like two point five, you know, kind of thing,
which makes sense, which is weird though, because I feel
like hit MANA in particular, like fucking gorgeous game. Those
maps are unbelievable. You know, maybe some of the cutscenes
(51:05):
or like character things aren't quite as top notch as like,
you know, a Naughty Dog or something, but the levels
themselves are unbelievable. The lighting is outstanding, the reflections and
all that. So I'm sure this game will have that,
especially by the time it comes out. They have a
few more months or years whatever it is to cook
on this thing.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
But yeah, I'm like.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
Pretty much as hyped as I could possibly be. And
especially because this was a surprise, I really, especially with
Summer Game or that their showcase happening on Friday, I
was like, did not expect all this to pop in here.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
So I'm I'm thrilled. I'm very very thrilled.
Speaker 3 (51:34):
Yeah, And the two things one like we've been both
mentioned it, but you bring up again same thing with Indy.
That was a game that when it first came out,
I got more excited as it came along, but I
was not completely on board as we got there. And
I think I said last year that was like if
it wasn't my game in the year it was second,
Like I loved that game, I wasn't around to talk
about it, but I had a really good time with that.
And the other thing is there's I guess, uh, I
(51:57):
can't remember where maybe you have about there's there's beach
options in this one or dialogue.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:02):
So one of the things that you know many games
is like you can go in quiet and sneak, or
you can go in loud. But the description they have
on this Steam page is you can go in loud
guns of blaze, and you can go in sneaky, or
you can bluff your way past guards. So to me,
that's almost like a nod to the way Hitman has,
like the social stealth system right of you using different
costumes that's how you get around It would be maybe
(52:22):
a little weird if if Bond is doing that perhaps,
so instead, I think there may be way around that
is instead of changing costumes, you're just like sweet talking people,
and that's how you can maybe get into a higher
clearance area rather than having to change into like a
chef's outfit.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Maybe you can just convince someone that you should be there.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Or I don't know, I haven't seen enough Bond things
to give you enough good examples of that, but yeah,
I think that system is going to be incorporated in there.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
And that's why I liked about him just sweet talking
his way through. That's usual what he does. Like, sure
he does sneak into some places, but usually it's like
he's in like a fucking army, Like he's in like
like I'm gonna shoot people gear. It's not the suit
and everything like that. So to me, that is one
option that sounds really good. And again and getting some
of the essence of the character of Bond is a
character that could be able just to either you know,
(53:04):
talk someone's pants off or talk their way into a room,
you know, like he's all about charisma. So and again
he's the younger Bonds. We'll see how that goes. But
hearing that, I was like, Okay, that that fits to
a te of like a good option. I think that
fits way better than Yeah, him becoming a chef, him
become that. It's like the same thing. It's like, uh,
I still want to keep that in the hit Man world,
you know, because I just don't want to be completely.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
So yeah, yeah, And then bringing up the other point,
So on the Steam page it has the replay your
favorite missions with additional modifiers for endless fun. So I'm
I'm curious, Yeah, I'm curious what the additional modifiers thing means,
because like in the Hitman. In Hitman, sometimes they'll you know,
throw different targets at you, or as you mentioned Freelancer
(53:45):
mode cirkleing where it's like random targets, and so I
don't know if that's what it means with that, or
if it always be like you have the same objective,
but then it's just like I don't know, more tough
guards or there's more cameras or or or whatnot. But
also sometimes with hitp mats and you're not even going
for a different target. You're always going the same target,
but it's just like I'm gonna do it in a
different way, And so that I wouldn't really describe as
like through a modifier, but it's just like through additional challenges.
(54:07):
So I'm guessing this game we'll have once again a
mix of both of having the challenges in there to
incentivize you to try different things, and then you know,
slight modifiers to like maybe different.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
Objectives or something like that.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Like I don't know how that would work if you're
replaying a mission, but like it's the same story beat
from a movie, Right, it feels weird to like do
that over and over again. So maybe there's other context
of why you'd be back in Paris in this location
or whatever and like doing this thing that he's doing.
So I'm really curious to see what that means. But
hell yeah, replay building these missions that just that's exactly
what I needed to hear.
Speaker 4 (54:38):
Yeah. Absolutely, something that I'm really excited and interested about
this and hopefully they do it right, is just about
the whole gadgets thing. Like we kind of see a
sequence I imagine he's with Q, like going over.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
The guy that had that big flock of hair. This
this cue is he's got a.
Speaker 4 (54:56):
Lot of Yeah, I can't remember what he looked like,
but he.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
Looked like Albert Einstein kind of in a way scientists look.
Speaker 4 (55:03):
But yeah, he's got hits the button and you see
like the dirt bike just jets going off. And I'm
just such a fan of gadgets and like that aspect
of being a spy. So I'm hoping that it's not
just like here's your four gadgets for the entire game,
you know, Like I want to see some variety, especially
for doing like a specific mission, even if it's like,
this is your tool for this mission, Like I remember
even I think Nightfire had a little bit of that,
(55:24):
like some of those older Double seven games. Gadgets are
just such a big part of James Bond in my mind,
So I hope they do that really well, because I
mean even forty seven has a lot of tools to
his repertoire, right.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
Yeah, but even little things like you know, I love Hitman,
but at the same time, like, is Bond going to
be climbing up a downpipe and like skiding along like
a gutter incredibly slowly taking thirty seconds to get to
a window? Like I don't think so, Like I think
a grappling hook or something. Yeah, yeah, make a lot
more sense for the character. But that definitely stood out
to me, Like that sequence you to talk about Travis,
where you like shot the guy in the butt, like
(55:58):
even when he got kind of going through there, he
does like the kind of it seems like most games
you click the right stick and then it like does
like a focus motor you zoom out.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
So we kind of.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Got that it felt a little watchdoggy in terms of
like the level of tech that we're dealing with here,
which yeah, definitely seems like a little bit more sci
fi I suppose than like Hitman usually gets. But I
think that's perfect and that you know, she'll probably tie
in with the fact that the character will presumably have
a whole lot more mobility than you know, forty seven does,
who's a clunky old man even though he's super fit.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
Clone and stuff. But you know, it wouldn't fit all.
But I wouldn't mind them at least putting the fiber
wire in Double Seven's bag, you know, like he didn't
really use it. But my favorite weapon of the Hitman
franchise is always its essential.
Speaker 1 (56:40):
I know Kirk's a big fan of that as well.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
Yeah, I would. I would love James to break it out.
Maybe they're like, you know, that's not too tactful, James.
You gotta the origin is him not using the fiber wire.
Speaker 2 (56:49):
But yeah, the car driving sequence, do you guys think
that's like the car is on rails and you're just shooting.
Do you think you control the car fully? Do you
think it's like pretty small narrow and that like it's
kind of like you don't do You replay that driving
sequence so much times and there's different things you can
do or is that more linear, like what what do
you what do you think there?
Speaker 3 (57:10):
I want to but I don't want to be on
the round just because of like because to me, if
it's the whole thing about your bond, you're it's that hero,
you know, moment of you becoming them. That's when that's
always with the cars, right, the gadgets, the cars, the girls,
those are the three things. Not sure what they're doing
the girls front, Like, I don't think there's gonna be
a mini game where you're trying to unstrack a bra
(57:31):
so you gotta do the gadgets and you gotta do
the car. So to me, I could see them being
smaller pieces. But I wonder if there's a way that
they could do that way when you re like I
was wondering if you replayed a mission, because in the
hit Man sense, if you replay mission, it's that you
want to tackle it all from these different angles, right,
And I don't know, we have to see how these
levels work because they maybe Bond is like that where
(57:53):
there's multiple angles, whether it's to shoot them up, you know,
sneak in or to talk to people. But it's like
when you replay it, the cars included because it's not
a set piece you really want to do over and
over again. But I guess I just have to see
how these things are formatted, so I could see some
sort of way where that's an in between or they're
in certain levels, like what you would do the mission
and maybe would cut off before the car chase and
(58:14):
maybe I know it sounds weird, but maybe that would
just be like when you're playing the full campaign to
get those, But I don't know if those are really
fun and enjoyable, you'd want them there. So what I
would like is maybe just one to two, even if
it's one, even if just one mission had Hey, you
drive a car, and that might sound weird to be, oh,
why do they, you know, do all these mechanics and
do something for a car. Lots of times in Bond
(58:35):
there is usually one big car set piece. It's not
like Fast and Furious work continually. So I wouldn't mind
that if it's like, this is the car mission, So
if you really enjoy that car mission, you know, playing
where if it's kind of like we're talking about the
couple of weeks ago, don't we do them with the
dark ages? When you had like the gigantic guy like
the you know, the monster's Kaijus and they had dragons.
(58:56):
That's something you didn't really love. So that's where if
you put in the car too much, if people don't
love the car, that would make those missions like, oh,
I don't want to play this mission because like I
do the car in this one. So I think they're
in a tricky spot. So until I know more of
the layout, I think it'll be very minor. But I
think you have to drive the car in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
I yeah, I wonder if it's like, you know, who
knows if if he's leaving the car from like a
set piece area or if he is you like, you know,
arriving somewhere after the car chase chase sequence. But I
think even in like Hitman, you know, you unlock like
different starting locations and you're doing different exits for the
missions as well. And one of the first mission in
hit Man three is like, you know, a huge tower
(59:34):
in Dubai and there's like this whole very mission impossible
sequence where you're skating around only outside of the building,
like going down, pop blosting through these windows, opening the window,
going in, and that's like the first time you do
the mission, you do that, but then you unlock like
the different starting location, and then every other time you
can kind of skip past that little, you know whatever
sequence and then you just start like in the building
as well. So maybe if that's what the situation is here,
(59:55):
like maybe you just use a different exit and then
you don't use the car or or if that's the
start of level, instead of starting in the car and
doing that whole sequence, you just start in like the
you know, restroom of like the building that you're going to,
so they could get around it in that way too,
which once again is kind of rate up their alley.
So yeah, I'm I can't wait to see more of
this game on Friday. Do you guys have any other
thoughts on the trailer we got today? Ghost of Yo
(01:00:21):
Tai had a pretty much just like telling us that
there's a showcase coming in July. There wasn't much here.
The one thing was that like your character was with
a dog and the dog was looking off at the
at the distance and like growled a little bit, Like
do you guys think that actually means anything? Like is
the dog a companion that you are controlling in some way?
Or can you like control the dog for a little
bit and like mess people up as a dog run
(01:00:42):
around and like tackle stuff or is that just like
a fun little visual thing for a trailer.
Speaker 3 (01:00:47):
I don't want that. I don't want the control of
the dog. I don't mind if it's like at an
attack at a whistle like I.
Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
Think it would be optional.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
It's not like you have to like I don't think
you'd get like an MJ mission and Spider Man like
that dogol.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Where you become abby, but you're the wolf for the whole.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Yeah, so what do they call the fucking dog? Unfault
for that you can control and they do stuff attack
dogmy Yeah, I'd be fine with something maybe not as
big as that, but something like that where you had
controls of the dog and they could be a part
of the mission or not. Don't want to control then
maybe there's a story beat there. I'm not sure. Maybe
they John waked the dog.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
You know whoa I think it's a wolf. It looks
a lot bigger than a wolf.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Yeah, I'm so sorry. I thought it was a dog. Yeah,
or you have a dog you know.
Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
More about that does not look like my Australian labordodle.
I'm telling you that much the most domesticated dog you
can get. Yeah, I mean my assumption would be it
is a gameplay thing. It just seems like it's a
blot of emphasis on the actual wolf itself there. I
don't know. I was a little bit, uh like unsettled.
(01:01:54):
Sounds so extreme, unsure I think about about what was
showing here, because I I love Ghost's sashimi like just
on its own, Like I don't need dog mechanics added,
you know, added to the game. So like if that's
a big thing now they're leaning heavily on that, I
probably wouldn't use it or I just would be a
little bit yeah, not loving it as much. So really
(01:02:14):
intrigued by what the showcase is gonna be. It to me,
it just seems like if it's just like a nothing
like element to the game, like why even show this
at all? Like why not just show our protagonists? And
like I'm ready to kick ass, you know, tune into
the showcase, but like no, this is the dog or
the wolf whatever it is, Like, let's I think they're
gonna be showcasing, especially in it says like gameplay showcase right,
(01:02:37):
like they're gonna have a set state of play to
showing that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
Yeah, that's where we're gonna be seeing the wolf mechanics incorporated,
I would imagine. I don't think you're gonna be playing
as it from the perspective of it. I think it'll
be something that you just kind of control. And I
hope it's just smooth and seamless, because something about that
game is like it's just really smooth to play, like
fighting multiple enemies. I think they just do such a
good job the fluid of the combat in in what
(01:03:01):
the first game was, so I hope that's just improved
in the next one and it can't feel clunky otherwise
I'm just not gonna use the mechanic at all.
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Yes, I think it'd be badass.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
You on a horse with your wolf next to you,
just cruising through your time. Fuck yeah, let me let
met you real quick on.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
Yeah? Why why? I hope that is a mechanic I
think it would work well. Is one. I mean, I
think you know.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
I remember in the trailers for ghost Sashima Legends the
multiplayer DLC, one of the shots that really stood out
is like you and a buddy getting ready to like
do a stealth attack on two guys standing next to
each other. And I think that would be like fun
to incorporate that in a single player mode of like, Okay,
plan out your timing, get your dog to attack at
the exact same time as you go down, take out
two enemies. And then I think the best example for
(01:03:45):
me is you haven't played this, but Star Wars Outlaws.
You have a little companion in that little alien named Nix,
and in that game, Nix can distract enemies.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
Nick Knicks can go.
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
Grab equipment and like ammo whatever off the ground. Knicks
can go hack panels. You know there's not gonna be
hackable panels in this, but it can like make sound distractions,
can do all sorts of things, And I think that
sped up the game a lot, because now I don't
have to go around pick up all this crap. Nicks
will like go do that for me, and then also
mix as well with the stealth mechanics of making distractions,
and then it's just fun to.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Have a cute little companion with you.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
And I'll that the wolf is cute, it's more scary
and ferocious. But I hope that is a mechanic I
think that's a fun little evolution, and I think it's
been done really successfully in other games recently, So yeah,
I think that. I hope that is a thing, And yeah,
I don't need to control it. I was more just
posing the question, but I hope it is like not
controlling in first person. I mean, but I think, yeah,
that you can issue little commands to it would be
really fun and would be a good evolution.
Speaker 3 (01:04:35):
So could you imagine it's this third person like action
adventure game, but there's sections where you're first person with
the wolf and it's just I could just like this
review scores.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
Just remember that like mission in GTA where you have
to control the dog and like chase the guy in
the train yard like early on.
Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
Yeah, like that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Yeah, NIX is a good comparison, though. I think if
it's like that, I'd be down because I like the
Knicks aspect and Outlaws as well.
Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
So one of the best parts of Outlaws really great mechanic.
All right, boys, And did I skip any games or
is it time from Marvel?
Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
Actually? Question Rides of Tomorrow. This one was giving me
a lot of death loops. Just just just thoughts. I'm
assuming you watched this one.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
I did.
Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
I did not get just like the aspect of like fault,
like you're trying to figure out what's going on following
like other players. Of course, Death Loop has a multiplayer
aspect to it, but I think just like the visuals
of like you're seeing like basically the ghost, like like
interacting with objects, and it just reminded me of I
can't remember what it was called Residuum, I think is
(01:05:42):
what it was from from Death Loop, and just very
similar aesthetic and even just the character designs and like
the way that they're talking. It was just reminding me
of an arcane world, very vibrant setting. Also, I don't know,
I I was a little unsure on like the specifics
of what's going on in there.
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
Like that was my issue with it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
I had no idea what the heck the game actually was,
but it would definitely like the arts that I was
great too. I gotta watch that trailer again and maybe
see another one later on that explains a bit more,
because it seemed compelling, but I was also quite confused.
Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, but still looked interesting and unique original.
Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
Mmmmmm all right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
The final game of the showcase coming out twenty twenty six,
Marvel Tocon Fighting Souls.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
Don't you dare forget the title of that of that game.
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
So this is a yeah, a Marvel fighting game from
Art system Works.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Who make Guilty Gear.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
They make DBZ Fighters Blas Blue, like they they're crushing
it with these like anime fighting games and personally, like
I haven't played a lot of them, but Guilty Gear Strive,
which is their most recent Guiltier game is on game
Pass or it was, and played it with a friend
for a few rounds and like a super great game,
and I always loved watching it even if I wasn't
playing it, just because the animations are unreal and like
the creativity, like the characters like really weird move sets,
(01:07:03):
went to interesting styles and so it just like I
felt like, okay taking that, but then giving them the
Marvel ip and it seems like they took it and
fucking ran with it. Like I think this is such
a great trailer of the art style was really great,
Like costumes for these characters I've never seen before. Also
just having Captain America and crew just speaking in Japanese
added so much to the anime vibe of this.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
I think the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Combat looks really great, really fluid, really cinematic, fucking I'm
so excited for this, and I don't get excited for
two D fighting games because it's just not my genre,
not my space, and out look at this, I'm buying
Mortal Combat.
Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
I'm buying this game. But I think this looks outstanding
and that's really really rare for me.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
I think that's why I'm highlighting this is like I'm
just not a fighting traditional fighting game guy. I'm a
platform fighting boy. But this game really really spoke to me.
So yeah, I think this was an outstanding trailer. Really
excited for the same.
Speaker 4 (01:07:53):
Yeah, No, absolutely, I think this was surprised, to be sure,
but a welcome one.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
It just fits so well with the amount of characters
we have, and I'm I'm glad it wasn't just like
an anime inspired or like a Japanese inspired but like
still like very western Marvel like this feels like a
true Japanese fighting game, and just with the the music,
the animations, I think two v two fits really well.
(01:08:21):
Also with the rosters that we have, just you know,
we have like civil wars where we have teams fighting
up against each other. What was that reaction? Not my
first time, there.
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
Isn't isn't it four? Be four?
Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
Is it four before missing?
Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
I think it's four. I think it's four people on
a team.
Speaker 4 (01:08:38):
Okay, so four before okay, whatever it is, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Four divided by two two per team. I actually don't know.
I think it is four though.
Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
I thought it was tag team, like that's what. But
it might have said four before take.
Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
Because I think they had eight characters in the trailer,
so I think they were setting it up as four.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
So then is not that's.
Speaker 4 (01:08:56):
A yeah watch the trailer.
Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
Take team just me means two. But yeah, that it
is four v.
Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
Four Yeah, okay, yeah, because there was a lot of
characters bouncing in and out, I just the s pups
confirmed it's forty four. There was a lot of characters
bouncing around. I just assumed it was like multiple matches
going on, just showing the different characters. But uh, I
mean that's even more interesting because I was gonna make
the comparison to Dragon Ball Z Fighter Z, which is
a two v two Like it's it's you know, one
(01:09:25):
player playing two players, but you'd be swapping them out,
and it was a really interesting gameplay mechanic. And I
mean multiplying that by two, having four is going to
be really interesting. I'm curious how long those those battles
are gonna go because I feel like arcade fighters are
pretty quick for matches, like you're not gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
Get Maybe this isn't round based.
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Maybe it's just like only you know a lot of
right total combats, like you got to do best of three.
I'm guessing this would just be one longer match rather
than splitting tender rounds.
Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
Yeah, who knows. But I really like the roster that
was showing there. I mean it's the type of thing
that you can just have like endless characters in there
because there's so many Marvel characters, not just what's in
the MCU, but just beyond. And yeah, I like the
roster too that they showcase right away, like having come
all in there. I thought that was fun and yeah, no,
this was just like a really pleasant surprise, Like I
(01:10:14):
was just smiling, I think during this whole showcase here
just looks fun. And definitely, of course, you know, because
we're just we like to play games on extra life
streams and whatnot, it just seems like something that would
naturally come up, especially before.
Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Yeah, there's team up together, all four of us against
a computer player.
Speaker 4 (01:10:30):
Yeah, getting bombed by the or four of.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
The five of my kids. You know they can Oh yeah,
you got a whole team over for the five kids.
Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
When will I get the five man tag team?
Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
It's only fair a right, which twins up? You know, Sitney,
you're three minutes older. You get in there.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
They can each hold one half of the controller. I
mean their hands are pretty small right now, so that
would probably work.
Speaker 4 (01:10:52):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:10:57):
Yeah, So this is one where it's like on the
opposite side where I'm like, you doing more. It's not
like completely on my back. I I think I go
in phases where same thing, like I grew up on
Moratal Kombat. But then there's like a long phase of
my time in my life gaming wise, I didn't play
a bunch of it. Then it's like, oh, I want
to get back into there. Same thing I own Injustice
and you know all those Mortal Capcom games now owned
a Marvel or I owned DC versus Mortal Kombat. So
(01:11:17):
I feel like I always need like a little break.
So this wasn't like, oh this is a day one
for me, but to me as far as like all
the scales of looking great presenting, great just hype levels.
I think they knocked out the park and this is
somewhere I look at it, go okay. I can see
this being for a lot of people, and it previewed
very well. Also, we did mention I really liked in
the trail where they showed the trailer and then I
hit a rewind and went back and like had the
(01:11:39):
creators talk about the game. I thought that was very
fun and creative. But yeah, I love the art style.
Some of the outfits. Not a fan of Captain America
looks awful. They massacred my boy. He's rocking like a
fucking jacket and he's looking like a steampunk loser. Like no, like,
So there's a couple of design like even Spider Man.
I'm in the camp too, where Spider Man, you like
the cap design?
Speaker 1 (01:11:59):
I do. I like all designs.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
I think they're fun and different and cool and weird
and like, yeah, like I they are weird for sure,
but that's part of the appeal for.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
Me, and that's why too write. For me, I'm complete,
this is perfect for this game. This is someone where
it's like, hey, if Chris Evans came back and he's
rocking on the back cave.
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
We're fine, yeah, I mean different, yeah there, But for.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
This type of game when things are quite different, sure,
like even Spider Man. We are in this age where
they just fucking loved over designed spier Man. I don't
get it, but they want to look different, They want
to have something out there. So but the actual animation
style and the visuals and the you know, just the
coloring of it that all looks great, looks very appealing.
This is one that I know because twenty twenty six,
(01:12:37):
it's still ways off. I don't think it's a it's
not a day one buy, but this is one where
I definitely will wait for one of you guys to
get it, try it, and then if I really enjoy it,
then purchase it. I think this was could be one
I could play. I can't remember where it was, but
there is some I meant to find it, but I
couldn't find the exact quote, but there's some quote going
around that the creators are saying that like, they also
(01:12:57):
wanted to pick some characters in the roster that have
never been any fighting games, which to me is very
fun and intriguing. That's because again, like Kirkland just said,
there are thousands of characters you can pick from them.
Let's get weird.
Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
There's like even I guess it would Kamala be one
of those. Has she been in one of these fighting games?
Speaker 4 (01:13:12):
Was she won?
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
Was she in that in Findy Capcom Marvel one? Like
he didn't review well, but that they put that around
in Findy war Time? I never played it. I know
Rubin did shut Rubin, but I think there's times where
like even when we went back and played the Marvel
Capcom one, it was very funny of like why is
Juggernaut in three of these games? Right? It's like, yeah,
I know it's the nineties, but they always made sure, yeah,
Juggernauts in here, And I would love that same thing,
(01:13:35):
like who is their Juggernaut? Who's the one character that
pops up? Like you know, we just fucking love this character.
They're gonna be in there, but it's fucking multiple band
if it's I don't know, even iron Fist. I don't
know if iron Fist has been in a fighting game,
you know there's fighting.
Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
His own team, it would just before.
Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
That'd be awesome, you know, like even some newer characters,
you know, like not that I really want them too much,
but like, uh, fuck, who's a guy cirkling? You like,
until they tried to doing the movie any Circus played
a venom carnage father of the symbiotes. Oh no, plant,
no thank you. Yeah, Like I would love if there
(01:14:12):
was some newer picks like that too, of like very
off the walls up. Of course you're gonna get your
classics in there. But the other thing is, I hope
with it being a four versus four you know set up,
that should mean a lot of characters, you know, And
so yeah, there's a couple here my classics I want, Like,
I agree, fanboy Clay, send the chat of your stream.
Gambit is like this art style this look, Yeah, that'd
(01:14:34):
be great.
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
So there's a bunch of X Men, especially it's already
got the Gambit jacket, so you just hand that over,
change the color.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
No Gamma gets his suit. It's like a really skin
tight body suit with like a big g on it.
But no, I think, especially the X Men, when you
look at that nineties type of feel like, I think
the X Men are gonna look quite sleek and sexy
in this game. So and you know, I'll walk it back.
There's even a chance it could be a Day one
because there's some things about just like it is. I
(01:15:01):
just gotta see more. But I would very much love
I hope that it's a day one close to a
stream or like Kirkling gets it and I can try
it first, because I said, because even playing games now
with the girls, because they love Smash, that might be
something more to get them. And the Marvel versus Capital
one they had lots of fun with, but as we
talk about, those were very painful. We're smashed. Like tonight
when I was doing dishes everything, I set them up.
(01:15:21):
They just played for an hour by themselves. They can
do the menu, they can select, they can do everything
Marvelous capcin I could not do that with them. So
with this game, if it was to that extent where
obviously it's gonna be updated, menu is very easy to use.
That's another reason why I think it could just be
a very fun, cool game like get some people, get
a squirrel go in there. You know I just saw her. Yeah, yeah,
Like that's what I want for When they're talking about
(01:15:42):
characters and fought like I want weird big squirrel girl nol.
I'm trying to think of other like very new characters. Yeah,
but yeah, I think this had a very good showing
and it was very well received. So I'm excited to
see the continuing roll out of the roster and this
and yeah, I'm not sure if that's a good maybe
(01:16:03):
sidequiest topic in the future, maybe like a mini topic
I've picking some fighters like a roster.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
To write it down right now? Yeah, no, I think that.
To me, that's such a one of my favorite parts
about the whole hype of Smash is like every in
town direct like, oh, which character are we gonna get?
And it just makes every trailer exciting, and even like
Multiverses had that two rist and piece that game is
dead now. But I think that's like why I wish
I was more into like other traditional fighting games, because
that's such a layup for every trailer. Every marketing thing
(01:16:27):
is like show off one to two to three new characters,
and that's always super hype, especially if you're a big
fan of the series and like, oh shit, sub Zero's
coming back if he was ever not in one of
the initial trailers. And so I think this is just
gonna be I can't wait for every state of play
now until this game comes out. To just get a
new trailer for this, a couple of new characters shown
off a new map or something. I think it's gonna
be really fun to dig into that because one of
the things about this trailer that seemed really interesting to
(01:16:49):
me is from what I could tell, only one map
was actually shown here, Like it's just New York. We
start out in like Times Square, and then as the
battle goes along, you like hit someone with a big ten.
And this is where I can't tell if it's like
just a fake little trailer thing and this would be
a different map you'd select or but it seemed to
me like an in game transition, like you do a
big attack with ghost Rider, you smack Doom, it like
(01:17:10):
launches him into this other part of New York, and
then it was like an Avengers memorial type area. And
then we did a third time and went to like
a back alley with like fog Well's gym and other
things like that. So but like all those are New
York locations, and so it seemed like a three are
a three acts transition with him on battle, which is great,
but also like we didn't see any other maps as
far as I could tell, like just the one, and like,
(01:17:32):
there are a million little details I brought wrote down
a bunch we can dig into here, maybe hints of
other playable characters or things like that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
But I love that idea.
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I think that's so cinematic and so fun and just like,
you know, you can't always get every character in a
fighting game, because it takes months and months of work
to get one of these characters to a playable point,
but you can throw Like you know, Dazzler was on
like a screen in the background, like doing a performance
or something like that, and fanboy Clay caught that. Matt
Murdock seems like he's peeking through a window there too.
I hope he's hope he's playable, but uh, at the
(01:18:01):
very least, you know, you have a little fun show
outs in the background. It seems like these maps are
going to be just jam packed full of fun little
easter eggs in there.
Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
To your point of like, I would very much love
where it's like, Okay, you picked New York, but if
you picked New York, you are segling through different locations
like yeah, I can't remember the name of how fine it.
There was a PlayStation two X Men fighting game that
had that where you would go and be like in
the x Mansion and you would fight and continually go
to different parts and I know.
Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
Yeah, and I think Techan has always done that too. Yeah,
two maps that you're going between, you believe variations.
Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
I think Injustice did that normal call it a little bit, yeah,
but back then it was really cool of oh, you're
in the courtyard and then you're Inn Exavier's office, and
then you're by the the Quinn Jet, Like that'd be
cool where okay, you pick the Xavier Institute, but then.
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
That is ex Mansion has gotta be one of the Yeah,
and I can't wait for that.
Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
Yeah, A couple like another couple of things from just
like the map backgrounds. At one point that Avengers Monument thing,
there's a statue that has Cap and Iron Man weirdly enough,
that are not in the outfit that they have in
the game. It's like the traditional Cap Ironman version.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
So it's for me.
Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Yeah, I don't know if this means this is like
a multiverse situation where like, yeah, here's this weird steampunk
Captain America in this universe, or if he's just donning
this new outfit for some reason, but Also on that
monument was Thor, who has not been shown off yet,
so maybe he would be it'd be weird to have
just three Avengers and like not have Thor as a
playable one if he's like on this statue. There's an
(01:19:26):
Avengers tower. In the background. There is the Gem Theater,
which apparently is like a big loop cage thing that
I looked up. Also that weirdly enough, the main like
Times Square section they're at there was like two street signs,
so I don't know if that's just a miss. There's
like Avengers Avenue, but then also forty second Street and
apparently forty second Street is where the Fantastic four what's
(01:19:49):
that called the Baxter Building is, so Maybel will get
one of them in there.
Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
There was also a.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
Janet van Dine building right next to there as well.
Jay Jon and Jameson was the background with the Daily Bugle.
So there's so many fun little East eggs in the background.
And yeah, like I don't know if any of those
mean any of those characters are gonna be in there.
I think Thor and like maybe Daredevil maybe Luke Ca
just seemed like kind of fun likely ones. I mean
Luke cage would be really cool. I would love to
see like art style they'd give him for this. But yeah,
(01:20:14):
even just in this one map, it seems like they're
you know, filling it with fun stuff in the background too,
which is cool.
Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
Yeah, and that's gonna be the fun thing to see
who's in there who's not. Yeah, I was just looking
to see the Fishery revealed, because I don't know if
you've actually said that, like all of them, but it's
cap Miss Marvel, Doctor Jum, and then star Lord, which
was to me, yeah, but then you have Spiderman and
Iron Man's Storm with Storms looking fucking great. Here hairs
mass of that outfit. But then you know Taylor's boy
(01:20:41):
a Ghostbrider specifically though the Robbie Rayes version with the
car so they went for a different ghost writer there.
Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
But the Sun's version right that same that same one.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
Yeah, so I think that was smart. I think I
think Doom like because all the other ones are Miss Marvel.
I I don't know where she is in the Marvel lexico,
but to me, Doom and Ghostwriter those are two hype
picks because I think with myst Marvel, just because she's
in a lot of Colm books with ever geting up
for I feel like she's a more pauper character now.
It's almost I won't say a given, but to me
(01:21:10):
it actually is nowadays. If we get a group games
where I just expect them to Marvel being there because
she's such a big fan base. Characters that ghostwriter Doom
like even Doom and Marvel Appliance he became later in
the DLC, right, So I liked that they had those
characters in there, and same thing Starlard, he's the one
I expect now because Guardians just pomped off.
Speaker 2 (01:21:26):
But yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I think it's a it's
a good mix of you know, you gotta have Spidery
in there.
Speaker 1 (01:21:32):
He's the biggest Marvel character ever.
Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
You have a couple of Avengers characters, you have the
weird dark dimensioned character, you have a villain, you have
a Guardian of the Galaxy, you have an X men
what do we even call Kamala at this point? Like
I guess x men, but also that what was the
the other name?
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
And she's in a human last commune, but yeah, she
isn't inhuman, So.
Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
So yeah, I think cool that we're getting some rep
from different spots. That's why I expect like a Fantastic
four person to be in there. I feel like a
wall condom map they have to do so, and Black
Panther would be really great, especially after that game just
got canceled this week. Like you know, I'll be okay
if we can plays a Black Panther in this game instead.
So those ones seem like kind of layups for me
in terms of like some other kind of just to
(01:22:10):
get some different factions in there as well, and then
like some more map potential. I also, I feel like,
to me, Wolverine seems like an absolute locke. You know,
we'll do the full list, as you mentioned, Charles, to
do a full episode on this, But I do think Wolverine,
especially with like if Sony's funding this game and they
have their Wolverine game coming out, like yeah, let's just
get Wolverine all over the place. But I would love
to see his move set in this. I think it'd
(01:22:31):
be great.
Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
I think no matter what it's you got, you had
to spread many on iron Man. To me, the Trinity
of Marvel's Wolverine's right there. Those are the three most
popular characters now. Hulk used to be there, I'm sure
Hulkland some heavies will be in there. But at the
same time, that's always a difficult thing with this game,
right unless they have a mass like we're doing two
under characters, at some point they still got limited and
it's stuff because you want your favorites, but at the
same time, I want the weird picks that we never
(01:22:53):
get right like m So it's it's interesting of where
you draw that line of who do you want to sacrifice?
You know, like even at four it's almost when you
put one in, you're like, oh, do you gotta put
all four of them? But it's like do you want
all four of those slots? That's that's a tough thing.
But even then, this game, mister Fantastic, would be very
fun to play with, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
So yeah, yeah, And I think in Guilty Gear, one
of the characters is quite literally just like a massive tank.
It's kind of like how in Multiverses they had the
Iron Giant in there, and it's like how a character
like that work? But you know, you find a way
to make it work. And that's where I feel like
if they wanted to throw a Hulk or you know,
another huge, huge ass character in there they could make
it work and.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
Fishunaut come back, you know, Juggernaut, Yeah, the leg you know.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
In the live chat from prior earlier today, Clay Clay
recommended Gambit, thought Gambit would be a good mix s
d GG six nine.
Speaker 1 (01:23:45):
Is that God loves me sixty nine the right?
Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
It has to be some pseudaman or something. That's what
I think, And I don't know for sure, but that's
what I thought. I could feel the vibes even the
thumbnail picture like this looks like sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
So yeah, yeah, jokingly recommended or seriously recommended Emma Frost,
Doctor Strange and Daredevil. Daredevil would be great.
Speaker 1 (01:24:02):
Strange.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
I mean, anytime there's any Marvel game, I'm like, give
me Wan to give me Doctor Strange, and then I'm happy.
And then I think Emma Frost is like a funny
meme one just because she's been popping off.
Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
With uh what's right now?
Speaker 2 (01:24:14):
Oh yeah, people are thirsty and over those jiggly thighs,
and I can't get enough Emma Frost right now. So hey,
if you want to get a certain audience to buy
the game, I think that that would be a slam
dunk character to get in there, and it would be
cool because has she been playable in the fighting game before?
Speaker 1 (01:24:27):
I don't know. Was she in one of those Marvel
cap complexions that we did, I can't remember what.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
I feel like she must have been in one of them,
but probably not anything recently. A little bit more under
the radar character. So, uh, Kirkland, who's your number one?
You get one pick and then everyone else is canceled.
Who would you take?
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
Cancel? I'm gonna go.
Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
I don't know if it would work the nicest, but
like my mind's going spidy characters. So the hob Goblin,
I feel like that would have some like crazy range
effects of course, like you know, we've seen that and
other titles before, honestly, but like Mysterio, that could be
a really intriguing one too. That one might be a
little bit underwhelming, just because it's like he's like, really
(01:25:08):
he's a magician, but like in a fighting game, like
he's just gonna have his power, So it's not gonna
be as exciting.
Speaker 3 (01:25:13):
Yeah, but it depends. Yeah, I feel like some universes
he just has powers, right, And I think you just
go that route where you just okay, it's all true.
It's all real, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:25:22):
Yeah, and like of course I would have to judge it,
but like on the title itself, but like for what
they show for Doom, I don't know. I was a
little bit underwhelmed and I got no like like like
Showcase or anything.
Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
But like when he took out a literal cowboy revolver.
Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
Yeah yeah, exactly, yeah exactly, so.
Speaker 2 (01:25:38):
I thought he was gonna do a beam. I was
shocked when I when I saw him a little cult here.
Speaker 4 (01:25:45):
But yeah, Hoggoblin I think would be my number one
just because he's he's such a freak and I would
love to see him in there. Yeah number one.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
Wow, Yeah, I don't know who my who's my number one?
Daredevil seems like kind of a basic pick. I feel
like I should pick a weird free Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
That's what I'm trying to think about too, because yeah,
like the Goldlin's good because yeah, I have my bait
like you Daredevil gambit. I'm not even gonna say Wolverine
because we know he's there. I'm trying to think and
that was another one to because that was the other
one we forgot was in those Marvel capcop games. A
bunch just remember Blackheart kept popping up and everything. Here's
a high pick because not only was he in those
games a lot. I just love this character. Bring me
(01:26:22):
back the fucking man from Mother Russia. Bring me Omega
Red Love, think about that art style. But Dylan Oga
Red Baby got me a lot of wins there. But
Dylan your assid But like even in that so I
found out was x Men Dimensions. This was the fighting
game or Next Dimension. I fucked up the title already.
(01:26:45):
It's next Dimension. It was a fighting game made for
the PS two, which was all X Men roster, not
Emma Frost. This'sen this whole roster, Bashian Beast, I don't
know who the fuck Betsy is, yeah, Bashian Bishop, Claw
Up Club, Blob, Cyclops, Dark Phoenix, Forge, Gambit, Havoc, Juggernaut,
Lady des Strict, Magneto, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Phoenix, Pyro, Rogue, Savor
(01:27:07):
to Sentinel, a Sentinel, b Storm, Cold Wolverine, and not
even Emma Frost and make it into a game so
her do her time is due. But uh yeah, by the.
Speaker 1 (01:27:18):
Way, Kamala was not in MVC Ultimate.
Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
I looked that up. That big that's a big pick,
and uh yeah, I'm saying squirrel Girl. Well, yeah, I
think that's another big pick that one. Like, let me
see if I can get a quick list of like
the newest Marvel popular characters.
Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
Get Kahori in there from what if you know, a
brand new, brand new Marvel character. Get the Hunter in
there from Midnight Suns.
Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
Get Gaya, Yeah that would be She's got all.
Speaker 1 (01:27:45):
The powers and everything on the soundboard. Get Taylor's guy.
Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
Yeah, Okay, I don't think there's anything. See, I didn't
think that this Vision would be one. He's someone that
usually never makes these games, even more ault in Alliance,
we were like, oh, has got to be in there,
and he didn't. Right, Like, have you think about a
fighting game of Vision's been in?
Speaker 1 (01:28:05):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
Man, I don't own a lot of these games, so
it's really I'm shooting from the hip here. I mean,
I was surprised when we went back to those ones
and the freaks they had in there, so I'd be like,
not surprised if Vision was one of them.
Speaker 3 (01:28:14):
Scroaty scud even though remember a couple of fighting as
we've played where iron Man wasn't in there, but war
Machine was.
Speaker 1 (01:28:21):
Yeah. But yeah, I know one who probably hasn't been
in there. Give Me Songbird, give me.
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
My Girl, bring her back from uh Marvelvers or Marvel
Ultimate Alliance two. She's been on the bench for far
too long, kind of sorta in Thunderbolts, but come on,
bring her back, give me Songbird.
Speaker 3 (01:28:37):
Yeah, I don't know if I don't think Vision has
been anything. So there is a litany of probably a
lot of big time characters that have not been in
any Vision.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
I guess it was not in any of the Ultimate
Alliances either, So he's just been snubbed for gaming history.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
Yeah, that'd be another good one when we do that
cast to look at those Ultimate Alliance lists, because there's
probably lots of good characters from there that we would think,
you know, could be pally And it's like your Songbird
one's a good one. That's the other.
Speaker 2 (01:29:03):
Crystal was really fun and Ultimate Lines three. I would
actually be down for Crystal to help mental abilities.
Speaker 1 (01:29:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
I fucking love Penance the Future the Future, Nick Fury
or side whatever was going on.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Yeah, what's the percentage that deadpools in this game? Right?
For sure?
Speaker 1 (01:29:25):
And I wonder, I wonder game Japanese humor and Deadpool mix. Well,
maybe maybe these developers, I don't know. I don't know
how they feel about him.
Speaker 4 (01:29:34):
Six pretty low for me.
Speaker 3 (01:29:37):
Sixties I didn't even know. Apparently that x Men dimension
game I mote that was a sequel to two PlayStation
fighting x Men games that it was called x Men
Mune Academy and Mune Academy.
Speaker 1 (01:29:49):
Two Mutant Academy.
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
I love that. Yeah, nothing really to read about the
characters because they're also the only character that I see
different from this list that Mute Academy two had was
profess Res, which I actually say they would like, I can'tme.
We pitched them once for something, right in a fighting game, and.
Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
He's playable in X Men Legends one or two, Right,
he's playable in one of those, I think.
Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
And I think in one of our like Ultimate Alliance
stream Roster and we like we've always pitched the potential
option comes up. Yeah, yeah, to make that work of
like it's good accessibility, like I know has mind control stuff,
but like I think there's I think there's a there's
a will, there's a way, And yeah, of course wanted
to talk about Strange Envision get wand in there, you know,
and a couple of speedsters too, get get the twins
(01:30:36):
in there.
Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
Yeah, maybe when we do this side quest episode all
about this roster, I'll do a super duper deep dive
and look at like every Marvel Fighting game that's ever
existed and see like, oh, iron Man's been in sixty
three games. You know, CAP's been in forty two, and
these characters have been in Nune and we can try
and find some some Spider Man.
Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
And Wolf rank god to have the record I bet
for being the most. So yeah, I feel like they
space time. Yes, I would think we should probably if
we don't do it before for sure the latest, do
it before Game Awards, because I feel like that could
be your next time you might get like even in
those pre shows that they do like here's a look
at that before we start getting like a bunch of
names and stuff. That's when we should do it before
(01:31:14):
at least Game Awards, because who knows twenty twenty six,
we don't know when that is right we get revealed,
that's like Q one. What if it's like March or something,
and then they'll start that's bleeding out names.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
M hmm, good point. I will I'll put that on
the calendar. I'm excited for that, you know me, I
love my rosters. Yeah, anything else? Any other thoughts on
this game? Marvel Marvel to con Fighting Souls.
Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
God, that fucking title.
Speaker 4 (01:31:42):
I'm gonna have to work on that one.
Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
T FS is how I mean to call either, I
mean t empty MtFs. I guess I'm just gonna call
it Marvel TFS. Like that's when YEA or for.
Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Me sounds too close to TSA For me, it makes
me think you're talking about like an air port.
Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
Okay, I don't talk about them too much as tokens.
Speaker 2 (01:32:03):
I like that one to I like token, yeah, yeah, yeah,
that makes them back in the day in the arcade,
you put your tokens in the machine, you know exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
Maybe they just misspelled it and they're gonna come out
and be like remember the whole Midnight Sun's Suns controversy for.
Speaker 1 (01:32:16):
A while, No, it does.
Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
There's an excell. There's an excell, not an axe on.
Who is something in there? Maybe it's pronounced. It's definitely
not French.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
Though there was a good way to in the conference,
and I've been now more excited after talking about I
can't wait to see more of this than the characters,
and it should be a good time Marvel. Even though
we lost Black Panther, at least Rivals happened and that
was good for them, and hope that there seems to
be a big excitement for this community. So maybe that's
what we're gonna do with Marvel Games, is we're gonna
lose a lot more of these single player venture ones,
(01:32:46):
but venture out into the other genres game, which isn't
a bad thing. You know, there's lots of video game
genres out.
Speaker 2 (01:32:52):
There, tons of variety, and Marvel right now and I'll
never pretty lucky forgive all of you for letting Midnight
Suns fail.
Speaker 1 (01:32:58):
So it's true, Kirk, and you eventually did buy it,
you still haven't played bought it.
Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
I supported the game, thought.
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
It like you bought it, like ten dollars, the des
barely it was.
Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
It was more than ten.
Speaker 3 (01:33:09):
I should be.
Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
I don't have you unlocked, Hulk.
Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (01:33:13):
I don't know you haven't.
Speaker 4 (01:33:15):
I think I woke up. I think I did that.
Do you think I woke up as a hunter?
Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
You beat Stranding?
Speaker 4 (01:33:20):
You've already asked me this.
Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
What are you playing currently right now? Is it a
new game?
Speaker 4 (01:33:24):
Doing a podcast with you right now. Actually, actually no,
I've playing some college football because I'm just vibing on
football right now. I'm getting excited for that's hundred days.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
Okay, Travis use two point five I think was your
rate rating at the start of this. Do you feel
any different now? Are you still dropping two point five
out of five on this showcase? I'll go to the
play rather, I'll.
Speaker 3 (01:33:47):
I can bump into a three a little bit, But
I still think it was they were they were close
to me failing this, I think, uh, And like I said,
something has to do with the things that I enjoy.
But yeah, I'll give it a three. So to me,
that's just like fine, that's fine. Two point five passbal
This was a fine one with some hype.
Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
Mm hmmm. Where where is your ranking, mister Patzer?
Speaker 4 (01:34:09):
I think I would give it like a three point five.
I think I was thinking of going like a four.
But for some of the things that they brought up,
and it's like, if you're excited for this, we're gonna
do a whole nother presentation on it, and like that
was it mainly ghosts of Yo Tai but like stuff
like that, it just kind of I feel like I'm
getting teased a little bit, like, oh, I was ready
for some juice here, and that's all I get. So
(01:34:30):
I think that was a little bit necessary, but definitely
still had some surprises, and yeah, no, overall, I thought
the pacing was fine. Glad it wasn't like a two
hour showcase of the same amount of content, right.
Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
Yeah, yeah, I think I'm at a three point five
as well, because yeah, Double seven and Marvel like just
two super hype announcements for me and unexpected as well,
so the good surprises, and then along the way there
was like three or four other little things that like,
it's always good sign for me when I go to
backlog dot com and I, you know, threw a few
things on the wish list, or I go to my
game calendar thing and I put a few release dates
(01:35:04):
on there, and there were a few of those, and
then yeah, obviously the two huge ones, So yeah, really
great way to kind of And also this show was
kind of a surprise, came out of nowhere, so I
feel like I didn't have really any expectations. Funny enough,
actually there was one game leaked that people were like
expecting here, and now that I think about it, that
was not here. I don't know if people want to
get spoiled on that, but so I'll just I'll leave
(01:35:24):
it there, I guess, but I'll tell you all fair.
But maybe it'll come out SGF. But I just now
thought about that that did not show up, So yeah,
for me, it was a big surprise, and it was
only a day worth of building the hype, so yeah,
I'm not too just pointing. I think this is a
great way to kick off the summer E three, the
fake E three season. So yeah, we'll be back in
a couple of days for SGF. Like I said, tune
(01:35:46):
in for a live stream watch along, likely at the
very least coverage on the showcase later
Speaker 1 (01:35:50):
On in the day, and yeah, we will see you then,
Bye bye bye
