Speaker 1 (06:37):
Fine, thank you for joining me on Beyond the Realms
of Rock. My name is DJ Vin. Yes I am
the vin Man, the vin meister, the one who creates

(06:59):
vin c credible set lists that go against the algorithms
of traditional commercial rock radio. And I totally dig the
crazy variety of rock music on this show, and if
you're listening, I know that you're enjoying it too. So
that last track we heard was a song called You
Tear Me Up by Buzzcos, taken off their debut album

(07:19):
from nineteen seventy eight entitled Another Music in a Different Kitchen.
And we started off the show with a song called
Archbishop Harold Holmes by Jack White, taken off of his
sixth solo album which he released in twenty twenty four.
And what a crazy way to actually release that album.
He actually released it as a surprise vinyl release back

(07:43):
on July nineteenth, twenty twenty four. And what he did
was he set this up through a store called Third
Band Records, and they included a free twelve inch vinyl
record with every single purchase made at the store in
their different lowtions that they had in Detroit, London, and Nashville.

(08:03):
And they didn't tell the customers any details about the
record because it was just blank. It was just a
white vinyl record. There was no name on it, and
even the employees at those locations they had no clue
as to what the contents were on the record, and
they were just told by their managers just put it
in with every purchase free of charge. Obviously, news about

(08:26):
the record spread online through word of mouth really really
quickly after customers realized that White was the artist on
the record and that it was actually an entirely new
album of original recordings from him. All right, now, time
for something brand new. Because on every show Beyond the
Realms of Rock, you guys know, I do this every

(08:47):
single week, I make sure that I play a few
brand new tracks from either an established artist or a
brand new band, because you guys know, I love finding
new music, new stuff and sharing it with all of you.
So here's a brand new single that was just released
within the last week. This is a song called for
I Am Death by the Pretty Reckless and you're listening

(09:09):
to Beyond the Realms of Rock.

Speaker 10 (09:28):
And something Wrong with Me? I could have put adam
do something wrong with Me from ex something wrong with Me?

Speaker 13 (09:51):
Something wrong with Me?

Speaker 16 (09:54):
Little semi skill, little Semio was crawling up my spine.

Speaker 12 (10:03):
Wigs for I Am Dead and I can feel I
got my head.

Speaker 10 (10:12):
Upon the wheel. I am not lost for I have
found the only one who put me down for I.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Won't break out right, I got to take one.

Speaker 12 (10:30):
Suffer a way. It was nice to know you.

Speaker 10 (10:45):

Speaker 5 (10:52):

Speaker 10 (11:04):
My spine will go.

Speaker 12 (11:09):
For I am death and I can feel I got
my hands upon the wheel. I am now lost before.

Speaker 10 (11:18):
I have found the only one who put me.

Speaker 12 (11:22):
Down for I am the side won't break.

Speaker 7 (11:26):

out of your busy schedule to listen to Beyond the
Realms of Rock. My name is DJ Vin the Vin Man.
And that was a brand new track by The Pretty
Reckless called for I Am Death And this song was
just released on August twenty second, twenty twenty five. It's

(13:21):
possibly for an upcoming fifth album for The Pretty Reckless,
but there was no announcement as far as the release
of this single. They just released it and it's a
really cool song. I totally dig Taylor Mompson's voice. And
can you believe it's already been twenty five years since

(13:41):
the lead singer, Taylor Mompson played the role of Cindy
lu who in Doctor Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas
back in two thousand. Crazy how quickly twenty five years
can go.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
Just like that?

Speaker 1 (13:55):
All right? Coming up next, we have something from Billy
Joe Armstrong as a solo artist. This is a song
called a New England and you're listening to ninety nine
point one f M KLBP and this is Beyond the
Realms of Rock.

I was twenty one year when I wrote this song.

(20:57):

Speaker 7 (20:59):
Make me feel.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
I'm tired of hearing the same songs over and over.
Come on not again. I just heard this song an
hour ago. Play something different, please, Beyond the realms of rock.

(21:35):
We play different. That's right. We played different right here
on beyond the realms of rock by mixing together all
different kinds of rock genres into a one hour radio
show every Monday night at eight pm Pacific. And we
just poured a little octane on the show there with

(21:56):
some rat with a song called eating Me Up Alive
from their seventh and final album called Infestation, back released
in twenty ten. And before that, we had a song
called a New England by Billy Joe Armstrong, which was
a solo album that he released back in twenty twenty
one called No Fun Mondays, and that song was actually

(22:17):
a cover song originally released by Billy Bragg from nineteen
eighty three. And the reason that Billy Joe Armstrong did
it was did this was because of COVID and it
was during that time that he would go ahead and
he would release cover songs on what he called No
Fun Mondays on his YouTube channel, and he was able

(22:38):
to do about fourteen songs during the quarantine and he
just put all together, produced them, and he released a
solo album called No Fun Mondays and that was a
pretty cool track. So I enjoyed that. So now it's
time for a new segment on Beyond the Realms of
Rock that I've been thinking a lot about lately, and
I'll be calling this new segment the soon super massive

(23:01):
Classic track of the show. Now, I know I go
on and on about not playing songs that have been
on repeat over and over on traditional commercial radio, but
sometimes there are certain songs that are so good that
I love that I really want to put on the show.

(23:21):
And so that's what I'm gonna do here. All these
songs that I'll be including as part of a super
massive classic track, They're not necessarily necessarily gonna be songs
that are overplayed, but there's something about the song that
is just massive for the particular artists or what it
accomplished in its own right. So the very first super

(23:43):
massive classic track that I'll be playing here Beyond the
Realms of Rock is a song called The Stranger by
Billy Joel.

Speaker 7 (24:55):
Everything, a.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Y'all have a face that we hide away forever, and
we take them out and show ourselves when the one
has gone. Some are sadments, some are steel, some are silk,
and some our leather. They're the faces of a stranger,
but we love to try them.

Speaker 12 (25:19):
All.

Speaker 10 (25:30):
Y'all fall in love, but we disregard the danger.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Though we share so many secrets, there are some we
never tell. Why if you so surprised that you never
saw the stranger, did you ever let you'll ever see
the stranger in yourself?

Speaker 10 (25:52):
So be afraid the jive again.

Speaker 9 (25:56):
Everyone goes sounds every now from it someone else.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
You should not find it.

Speaker 6 (26:12):
Once.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
I use to believe I was such a great romancer.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
Then I came home to a woman that I could
not recognize her when I breast.

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Cup for a reason, she refused.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
To leave an answer. It was and I felt the
stranger cheated me right between the eyes. You know, we
all fall in love, but we disregard the danger. And

(26:48):
we share so many secrets. There are some may never tell.
Why would you so surprised that you remember saw the stranger?

Speaker 6 (26:58):
She remember?

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Let all lover see the stranger in your cirl, so't
be a ready to try again.

Speaker 7 (27:09):
Everyone goes soud, the.

Speaker 9 (27:16):
Son quite care someone else you should not find use.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
May never understand how stranger is inspired, but he isn't
now when he's evil and is not always wrong. Drowsed
to intentions and we will never quench the fire. Don't
give them to your desire when the Stranger comes along.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Playing the rock that gives you the nostalgic fields, yes, yes, yes,
and playing the new stuff that keeps you awake. Wow,
that was different. You're listening so beyond the Realms of
Rock on the New Kobb This is ninety nine point
one FM KOBP, Long Beach, California, and I am the

(29:12):
vin Man DJ Vin And that was the super massive
classic track of the show. Right here on Beyond the
Realms of Rock. That was a song called the Stranger
by Billy Joel, who was actually the title track off
of the album from nineteen seventy seven, which was Billy
Joel's fifth album. Now, the previous album that Billy Joel

(29:32):
released was called Turnstiles back in nineteen seventy six, and
that album had just sold okay at the time, it
peaked at only one hundred and twenty two on Billboard
two hundred charts and in the US, and at that
time Columbia Records they were actually considering dropping Billy Joel
from the label if his next release sold poorly. Well,

(29:56):
turns out, this album, called The Stranger, it happened to
be Billy Joel's breakthrough album. It featured songs like Moving Out,
Anthony's song, the title track We just played The Stranger
just the way you are, scenes from Italian restaurant Vienna,
only the good Die Young, She's always a woman. This
was a massive album. I mean the album reached number

(30:19):
two on the Billboard US two hundred chart, eventually selling
over twelve million records in the US alone. Now that's
a super massive classic. Let's go ahead and hit you
with some my chemical romance right here beyond the realms

(30:40):
of rock.

Speaker 7 (31:00):
Mister roum job.

Speaker 10 (31:18):

I'm beyond the realms of rock right here on KLBP.
I am the vin man on KLBP, and that was
a track by my Chemical Romance called thank You for
the Venom, taking off of their second album Three Cheers
for Sweet Revenge, released in two thousand and four. I

(34:42):
think now is the perfect time to go ahead and
tickle our funny bones with a moment of mirth. All right,
it's time for a moment of mirth on beyond the
realms of rock, because we live in a world that
has a lot of serious issues and tragedies around the globe,

(35:03):
and so if we want to keep our sanity, we
need a little levity each day to cackle short ole cafar, giggle,
snort and howl with uncontrolled outbursts of glee, hilarity and merriment.
So today's moment of mirth comes from the late great
John Pennette.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Wow, you're a lively bunch. I should take you all
to a buffet. We could rent buses. I'd go in first.
I'd be like the leader. I'd walk in, I'd kick
in the doorstand.

Speaker 5 (35:44):
May I have your attention?

Speaker 7 (35:46):
Play?

Speaker 4 (35:47):
I have man three hundred friends some way watches. We're
going off the wagon tonight. We've been eating salads for
a month and we're ready to snap. Get those people

(36:09):
out of the way. We don't want anybody hurt. There
were kids missing the last time, and that's a shack.
Just watch the manager of the Old Country buffet. It
looks like a deer caught in the headlights. Get the
turkey back in the kitchen right now, Just do it.

Speaker 13 (36:35):

I am the vin Man DJ Vin And that was
a song called I Am One by Smashing Pumpkins, taking
off their debut album called Gish from nineteen ninety one.
Totally dig that song love the production quality on that,
the sound of the guitars, and the album itself was
named after a silent film icon by the name of

(41:10):
Lillian Gish, and Billy Corgan once said in an interview,
my grandmother used to tell me that one of the
biggest things that ever happened was when Lillian Gish rode
through town on a train. And my grandmother lived in
the middle of nowhere, so that was a big deal.
So pretty cool background story as to why they called
a Gish. Time Now for another brand new track of

(41:32):
the show. Here's something off of the brand new Rise
Against album called Ricochet. Here's a song I want it all.

Speaker 11 (41:48):
And if you lock every time, We'll becoming your fences.

Speaker 5 (41:55):
Are you gonna ask you to leave? But I almost.

Speaker 1 (44:58):
Beyond the Realms of Rock we play different And that
was another brand new track right here on Beyond the
Realms of Rock. That was a song called I Want
It All by the band Rise Against, taking off of
their brand new album called Ricochet, which was released on
August fifteenth, twenty twenty five. That is their tenth album.

(45:18):
I like the sound of it from what I've heard
so far, a little bit different than their their traditional sound.
It has some really cool melody on there, and I've
always loved the lead singer's voice. Time now for some
melodic acoustic power pop going all the way back to
nineteen eighty eight. This is a song called at Least
for Now by the Posey's.

Speaker 9 (45:47):
Try.

Speaker 16 (45:48):
It comes with menomming Saturdays, class behind, then you sleep
been Sunday morning, Monday back und lie bed, friends go
