setless that go against the algorithms of traditional commercial rock radio.
Thank you for joining me here on beyond the realms
of rock, this crazy variety rock show. I hope you
guys are digging what's coming out of your speakers right now.

(07:25):
And that last song you just heard was a song
called Sick by a band called The Warning, off of
their fourth album entitled Keep Me Fed and The Warning.
They are a Mexican rock band from Monterey and they
formed back in twenty thirteen. It's actually a band of
three sisters, the Villa Reelle Sisters. You have Daniella, Paulina

(07:46):
and Alejandra, and they're really good, as you just heard.
And we started off the set tonight with a song
called Nothing for You by Tsol, taking off of their
fourth album called Revenge from nineteen eighty six and TSOL.
I knew nothing about them back in the eighties. The

(08:06):
only thing I knew about the band and probably most people,
was seeing Steven Adler from Guns N' Roses, the drummer
for GNR. He was wearing a t Sool T shirt
in the video for Sweet Child of Mine, and I thought,
what is that TSOL? I knew it had to be
a band of some sort, but we didn't have the

(08:27):
Internet at that time, so it's not like we could
just look it right up. But eventually came out in
either a Hiparader magazine or Circus magazine at the time,
and it was like, oh, it's kind of like there
was a punk band called TSOL and the original name
of the band was True Sounds of Liberty and they
just shortened it to TSOL.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
All right, Now it's.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Time for something new on Beyond the Realms Rock, because
you guys know, every show I want to make sure
that I play a few brand new tracks from either
an established artist or a new band, because I totally
dig finding new stuff and sharing it with all of you.
So today I have a song called Nothing Changes by

(09:09):
the band Simple Plan right here on ninety nine point
one f M KLBP Long Beach, California.

All right, I'm the vin Man DJ vinn right here
on nine to nine point one f M KLBP, Long Beach, California.
And that was a brand new track called nothing Changes
by the band Simple Plan. And the reason that they
released that new track was because they have a documentary
that just came out on July sixth, twenty twenty five,
about their history as a band. And they titled the

(12:55):
documentary Simple Plan The Kids in the Crowd. And you
know how I found out about this watching the Today Show.
I'm such an old man. I mean, I'll take you.
I mean I find new bands and new songs from
all different places. If it comes from the Today Show,

(13:16):

I heard of hearing the same songs over and over.

Speaker 10 (20:36):
These allow need to introduce myself.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Come on not again. I just heard this song an
hour ago. See Silper play something different, clean beyond the
realms of rock. We play different.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
All right, Thanks for hanging out with me tonight. I
am the Vin Man DJ Vin right here on KLBP
and that was a song called where do We Go
from Heaven by The Mighty Lemon Drops, taken off of
their nineteen eighty nine release Laughter and I love the
sound of the twelve string acoustic guitars on that track,
and before that, we had a song called When Legends
Rise by Godsmack, and that was taken off of their

(21:32):
eighth album from twenty eighteen.

Speaker 10 (21:34):
That was actually the title track.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
And a lot of times when you look at a
band's name, you think, how did they even come up
with the name of that band? Well, that question was
asked of lead vocalist and guitarist Sully Erna, and he
said this quote. I was making fun of our drummer
at the time, who had a cold sore on his lip,
and the next day I had one myself and somebody

(21:57):
said it's a Godsmack and the name stuck. We were
aware of the Alice and Chains song, but didn't really
think much about it end quote. So what an interesting
way to come up with the name of the band.
But I mean, for myself, I would have never thought
about saying it's a Godsmack. I would have said something
like it's Karma, but hey, good thing. That person in

(22:21):
the room said it's a Godsmack, And there you go,
the name of a band all right time? Right now
for a segment I call here on Beyond the Realms
of Rock called super Massive classic track of the show
now This is where I play a song from an
album that is just just out of this world legendary,
or just the song itself is just massive, and today's

(22:46):
selection is no exception. So this comes from the second
best selling album in the history of music, the history
of music. I'm not even gonna tell you the name
of the band or the song. I'm just gonna let
it play and then we'll talk about it afterwards.

Speaker 12 (23:25):
They now you middle away your fancy calls. Who out
there sitting on.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
The fence, So get out.

Speaker 7 (23:36):

Speaker 25 (26:55):

Speaker 9 (27:13):

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Playing the rock that gives you the nostalgic feels. Yes, yes, yes,
and playing the new stuff that keeps you awake.

Speaker 21 (27:28):
Wow, that was different.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
You're listenings Beyond the Realms of Rock on the New Kobb.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
I am the vin Man DJ Vinn and you just
heard the super massive classic track of the show on
Beyond the Realms of Rock, and that was a song
called rock and Roll eight Noise Pollution by ac DC,
taken off of their seventh album Back in Black from
nineteen eighty. And there was no way that I would
play either You Shook Me All Night Long or Hell's

(28:00):
Bells or the title track Back in Black, because all
those songs have sadly been overplayed on commercial rock radio,
and frankly, I'm just burnt out on them. I mean,
they're great songs, but man, just burnt out. I mean,
there's other songs to be played. But anyway, as I
mentioned before, Back in Black is the second best selling

(28:24):
album worldwide, only to be topped by Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
And here's a crazy statistic.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
The album didn't even reach number one in the US,
it only reached number four on the US Billboard two
hundred chart. So this was the band's first album to
feature brand new lead singer Brian Johnson following the death
of their previous vocalist Bon Scott, and it took him
only seven weeks to record the album, and Back in

(28:50):
Black has ultimately sold over fifty million albums worldwide. Now
that's a super massive classic. I think now it's a
perfect time to go ahead and tickle our funny bones
with a moment of mirth. All right, it's time for

(29:14):
a moment of mirth on beyond the realms of rock.
Because we live in a world that has a lot
of serious issues and tragedies around the globe, and so
if we want to keep our sanity, we need a
little levity each day to cackle, shortle to fog, giggle,
snort and howl with uncontrolled outbursts of glee, hilarity and merriment.

(29:37):
So today's moment of mirth comes from the Mark and
Brian radio show featuring carry Elways and his encounter with
Marlon Brando.

Speaker 28 (29:46):
Modern Brando, you said you might do Martin. Yeah, I
had the opportunity when I was a kid. I was
a PA and I worked on Octopus and then a
PA fell out on Superman, so I did about a
week on Superman as a PA. The originally the first
one on my job was to get Marlin. They gave
me Marlin as my first job got get Marlin out
of the trailer.

Speaker 10 (30:06):
You know, okay, you know. So I knock on the
door and I come in. I go inside and I go.

Speaker 28 (30:16):
Hi, mister Brandon, my name is carry always on the
New Pig with what I said, my name is Carrie.

Speaker 10 (30:22):
He goes, no, it's not. I said, oh really. He goes, no,
it's Rocky. Your name is Rocky.

Speaker 28 (30:35):
And I said, okay, what are you gonna say, Tom Brandon,
You're wrong. So from there on I was Rocky, and
you know, my job was and I would come up
to it though. So they're ready for you, mister Brannan
and goes, you know how to lie, don't you, Rockie.
I go yes, He goes, we'll just tell him on

(30:56):
my way. I said that I already told him that,
mister Brandon. I goes to tell him again. God damn it,
that's a huge job for the first time pay one day.

Speaker 10 (31:09):
He goes he goes, I'm not ready yet, and and
where's that lemon meringue pie? You promise me? And I
don't remember him asking me, but again, I'm not going
to question.

Speaker 28 (31:24):
And it's not like it's not like lemon meringue pie
is as easy thing to come by spur of the
moment in England, you know.

Speaker 10 (31:31):
And he goes, he's a promise me an lemon meringue pie.
And I don't see it here at all.

Speaker 28 (31:36):
So I go to catering and I get them to
make a lemon tart and I bring it back and
I go, mister Branda, I'm sorry, this is all we
could find.

Speaker 6 (31:41):
What the hell is that?

Speaker 10 (31:44):
That's that's not a lemon meringue?

Speaker 3 (31:45):
What is that?

Speaker 28 (31:46):
I said, it's a lemon tart. It's it's close a
week of that's cool. I don't see anything meringue.

Speaker 10 (31:50):
And there.

Speaker 1 (31:52):

(39:25):
I am the vin Man DJ vin And that was
a song called Every Little Thing Counts by the band
Janice Stark and that's spelled j A n Us Stark
Janis Stark and that was from their debut album Great
Adventure Cigar from nineteen ninety eight, and a review that
was done by Ian fort Fortnam and Kerrang magazine stated this,

(39:47):
Every Little Thing Counts takes the irresistible blueprint of the

You're listening to Beyond the Realms of Rock right here
in Long Beach, California. And that was a track called
check My Brain by Alison Chains, taking off of their
two thousand and nine release Black Gives Way to Blue,
and that was the first album to feature the new
lead singer rhythm guitar player William Dufall, who shared co
lead vocals with Jerry Cantrell. And I saw that tour

(47:23):
supporting that album at the Hollywood Pallenium on Sunset and Wow,
what a great show that was. And before that, we
had the new track of the show by Memi called
techt and that was actually a cover song originally done
by a band called Kafune and Memi. She released that
single back on August twenty first, twenty twenty five, And

(47:43):
she is really cool, very eclectic kind of artist. But
I've played a song called Miracle on the show before.
You should check that out. On YouTube or on Spotify.
But she's a really cool guitarist in and singer. Time
now for our yacht rock track of the show. You know,

(48:11):
sometimes it just feels good to sit back, relax and
mellow out. Now, As you guys know, I don't play
yacht rock every single show, but sometimes I feel inclined
to just kind of chill out and then I'll play
some yacht rock. So today I'm gonna play one of
my favorite yacht rock songs. It's by Steely Dan and
its track called Kid Charlemagne.

I am the vin Man DJ Vin And that was
a song called Cassie by Fly Leave, taking off of
their self titled debut from two thousand and five. And
before that, we had the yacht rock track of the
show called Kids Charlemagne by Steely Dan, taking off of
their fifth album, The Royal Scam from nineteen seventy six.
And I personally, I've loved this song since I first
heard it as a kid on rock radio back in

(57:08):
the seventies and the eighties. But it took on and
even a greater love for me when I attended GIT
the Guitar Institute of Technology at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California,
and in one of my classes, we were assigned to
learn a complex guitar solo by any artist and then
break down the musical theory behind it, and I chose

(57:28):
Kid Charlemagne because I always have loved this solo by
Larry Carlton and I wanted to learn it. So it
took me about a week, but I learned the solo
near to perfection, and I performed it in front of
the class and a teacher and everyone was pretty amazed.
So what a great memory I have of this yacht
rock track of the show. All Right, that does it
for me, So thank you for spending some time. I

(57:50):
am the vin Man DJ Vinn. Coming up next we
have DJ Hollywood with gen x Rock Hidden Treasures, melting
your face off with a bunch of killer hard rock
and metal, deep cuts and rarely played songs that deserve
to be heard. So thank you for joining me to
experience the craziest and most diverse mix of rock music
on FM radio today. This is beyond the realms of rock.

Speaker 1 (58:16):
You're listening to ninety nine point one FM, the new KLBP,
Long Beach, California, playing those rarely heard songs that deserve
to be heard.
