Speaker 3 (00:32):
A rock and roll radio station.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Right if we hear some tunes, it rocks man, that's rock.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I was a hanging scavengers. My name is Hollywood, and

say thank you to the Vinmandjvin who has a great
show right before me called Beyond the Realms of Rock
at eight pm Pacific, and he has this awesome, crazy
variety rock show with a lot of alternative and indie rock.
He plays metal, punk, new wave, goth yeah even. He

(02:15):
just introduced a new segment called the super Massive Classic
Track of the show. He played a classic Billy Joel
track and gave some background information as to what happened
with that particular song in the album. It was really
cool to listen to. So make sure you go ahead
and check out the rebroadcast recording of Beyond the Realms
of Rock as well. So I have a great show

(02:38):
lined up for you tonight with new music from Paradigm,
Switch and Gravecorp, along with some familiar bands and some
not so familiar bands, as well as the Ozzie Forever
track of the show. And in addition to that, we
have another segment of Dirty Jim's Glam Slam playing a
couple glamtastic tracks. All right, scavengers, let's find those tracks

(03:02):
in the stacks of wax. That gets our genics blood pumping.
Because recently La veteran radio DJ Nicole Alvarez, she parted
ways with the world famous K Rock and she wrote
an opt ed in the Hollywood Reporter, and she said,
in part quote, the truth is corporate radio has now

(03:23):
become a spreadsheet, a machine run by research, not instinct,
by caretakers who cling to titles not passion. Radio will
always matter, but it will require courage, not cowardice, passion
not corporate approval to the executives suffocating it. It's never

(03:46):
too late to introduce humanity into the corporate narrative. I
challenge you to play the game without selling your souls.
Radio is not dying, You're killing it. Who Wow, what
a powerful statement. I mean, she's Nicole Alvarez has been

(04:06):
around for decades here in Los Angeles, and for her
to make that statement, it says a lot. So for
those of us who've loved the mystique of radio all
our lives. I think we're all feeling the impending finality
or perhaps the end of an era, during this slow
death of radio over the past few decades. But there

(04:29):
is a final chance to take a course of action,
if not by corporate radio executives, but by those of
us who are on the fringes, those of us who
are on independent radio, non commercial, public and internet radio,
college radio. We are the ones who have the courage
and the passion to play music by artists who deserve

(04:51):
to be heard, those artists who are unknown, those are
who are new that just need a chance to be
heard by the masses. We are the ones now who
are the pirates of underground radio, taking a journey into
the unknown. On the last train.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Reforming of this.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Jeffrey long leather handing, I get some ragged road is sir, but.

Songs obviously for those of you in the, know the

(18:31):
lead singer on both tracks Was Tim Ripper, owens as
well as the guitar player on both tracks WAS Kk.
Downing AND i think With Tim Ripper owens that particular
live Album live In london is so. GOOD i, mean for, Me,
tim when he Sings Judas priest. Songs you hear him

(18:51):
sing The sentinel and The ripper And victim Of changes
and just a bunch of these, tracks he is so.
Good he's kind of a different singer on his own
when he sings his own material or material that's been
written by. Others but this one song that we just,
Heard Hellfire, Thunderbolt, wow just a great song and his

(19:12):
voice is just operatically on. FIRE i love. It so
right now it's time for a song request For Mike,
tolfa who is the guitarist of the Band Awaiting Abigail

that particular album was the very first vinyl record THAT

(24:44):
i ever bought in my life in nineteen seventy. Six
so back in seventy, SIX i was eight years. OLD
i was introduced to the band by a neighbor kid
AND i was. Mesmerized and when you hear this particular Song,
she that is a a heavy. SONG i, mean for
nineteen seventy Five, kiss they had some songs that were

(25:06):
kind of just rock and, rolly you, know the first
few albums or, so but they also had some really
heavy heavy. Stuff this song heavy AND i love. It
time now for The Ozzy forever segment of the.

Speaker 20 (25:23):
Show breaking news from the world of, entertainment we have
received word that music Legend Ozzy osbourne has. Died, osbourne
as you, know pioneered heavy metal music With Black sabbath

(25:47):
before going on to have huge success in his own.
Right he was known for hits Including Iron, Man Paranoid,
Warpigs Crazy train Of, course And bark at The, moon
both with the band and as a solo. Star his
death comes just weeks after reuniting with His Black sabbath
bandmates and performing a massive farewell concert for fans in

(26:08):
his hometown Of, Birmingham. England he had been diagnosed With
parkinson's disease in twenty, nineteen and in a statement his
family said that he was surrounded by love when he.
Passed Ozzy osbourne was seventy six years, old all.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Right so this is WHERE i delve Into Ozzie's sabbath,
catalog his own solo, albums as well as guest appearances
with other bands and artists to find deep cuts and
hidden treasures THAT i totally dig that hopefully you will as.

Speaker 9 (30:48):
Me so.

Speaker 22 (31:11):
My name Is.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Hollywood and that was The Ozzie forever track of the
show on GEN X Rock Hidden. Treasures and that was
a track called THAT I Never had from the Album
down To earth released in two thousand and, one which
Was ozzie's eighth, album And ozzie had stated in an
interview Oz fest was doing well AND i just wanted

(31:33):
to be like The Grateful dead and keep it going by.
Touring but the record company said that they like to
have a New ozzie album end. Quote so, then as
far As down To earth is, concerned it did feature
the Bassist Robert, trujillo and it was the only studio
album to Feature, robert who then went on to Join

(31:53):
metallica in two thousand and. Three, so but because Of
ozfest going on at the end of the nineties there
to the end of the, Nineties Zach wilde he went
off on his own and he released a solo album
in nineteen ninety six Called book Of, shadows and then
he formed his own, Band Black Label, society and they
already had released their first two albums in nineteen ninety

(32:15):
eight and two. Thousand So zach wasn't around to Help
ozzie as far as writing the, songs and so Since,
ozzie you, know usually Had zack as a songwriting, partner
he decided to go ahead and use outside songwriters and
he chose Producer Tim palmer And aerosmith Collaborator Marty. Frederickson
and Then ozzie said About, tim he, said working With

(32:38):
tim on this album reminded me Of Randy. Rhodes if
it hadn't been for, him there wouldn't have been an.
Album he has incredible patients just Like randy end. Quote
so in the, End Zach wilde did come back to
the band and he played guitar on the, album but
he didn't write any of the songs on the Album
down To. Earth final factoid about this. Album in a

(33:02):
two thousand, Interview Rivers cuomo stated that he had intended
on giving the song Hash pipe To ozzie in two,
thousand After ozzi had Approached cuomo for song, ideas but
Then ozzi changed his mind and he didn't and he
decided not to use. That so Then weezer kept the
Song hashpipe and it became a smash hit for. Them

(33:22):
so can you imagine If hashpipe became An ozzie? SONG
i wonder what that would have sounded. Like all, right,
now time for the back to back new track, attack
and it's exactly how it. Sounds i'm gonna play two
new tracks back to back and Then i'll provide my
commentary on both of them. Afterwards so first up as
a song by a band Called Paradigm switch Called moth

Singer tracy Von krypt are so. KILLER i, Mean i'll
put her vocals right up there With Lizzie hale From
hailstorm And Cassandra carson From. PERLANDRA i, mean this woman
is just the powerhouse. VOCALS i, mean she's. Amazing and

(41:51):
can you imagine a rock show With, Hailstorm, perolandra And gravecrp. Together,
wow that would be one intense show of screen. Women
and before, that we heard a song by a band
Called Paradigm switch Called Moth into The light and that
also was a totally slamming. TRACK i fricking love that.

(42:13):
SONG i, mean there are moments in the song that
are kind of reminiscent a little Of Death, angel maybe
a little suicidal, tendencies but there's also this alt metal
vibe going on THAT i totally. Dig and at FIRST
i thought there wasn't gonna be a guitar, solo and
then they ended the song with an outro, solo which was.
