Speaker 1 (00:02):
And now Gimmick in Fringemen.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Welcome everybody to the Gimmick in Fringe With podcast. I
am Brad Winchester and with me as always as my
tag team partner Tyler McDowell, Blank and Tyler.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
I think my voice is back almost all the way.
It's a little there's a little.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Scratching there, but it's like, yeah, we're I could probably
sing in the car today if I needed to.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
How you doing, But we're fully back. I didn't even
realize that you're It sounds like you're back to one percent.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Feels like it.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It feels like it, but I could every once in a
while I got a little twinge. I can tell you
the cough not gone this year questionable. I might I
might have to go in and get it looked at.
I did schedule an appointment before we before we started recording.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
We were in the production meeting.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
We were talking about, you know, being a teacher and
having to take time off to work, which is a
crazy part of the profession. On occasion it's like I'm
so behind in grading or planning or whatever. I got
to take a sick day to do the grading and planning,
which also includes planning for the day I'm not gonna
be there. It's wild. And then you know, sometimes you're productive.
(01:07):
Most of the times you're just like I know, I'll
go get set up. I never get to have a
normal lunch. I'm gonna go have a normal lunch or
a normal breakfast. Maybe I'll sleep in and it's like
four o'clock and you're like, crap, I should start doing
the stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
I took the day off. To you, it's so weird.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
But one of the things that I decided to do
was to make my eye appointment. I go see an
eye doctor, not an optometrist, but an eye doctor to
look at the kind of the inside of my eye,
make sure everything's okay. This eye is a little spicy
today because of the arthritis I get scleritis. But I
had to change the appointment for fall break when I
(01:43):
made my appointment. Most often my appointments are during fall
or winter or spring break, so I don't have to
take time off of school in case I need the
sick days.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
But I had to move.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
My appointment because we actually had plans during fall break. Now,
the original appointment supposed to be June. That's how far
out these were. So she's like, the next available appointment
is the first week of August, and I'm like, yeah,
it's the first week of school. That's not happening, so
let's push it back. And they're like, next one's late September.
I was like, what do you got October sixth week
(02:18):
of that? Well, I think it was the tenth. Had
to call and see, I can't make it. It's now
Friday in the morning during school. I'm going to go
to my early morning meeting and head off, but I
had to reschedule it. Man and I have another one
the following week after fall break, which is the next
earliest one to go in.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Because I said, my ears bothering me?
Speaker 3 (02:40):
E n T.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I see them maybe once a year if I'm lucky
for the sleep apnes stuff that I really I probably
don't need it. I need to go in and I
wanted to have the experts take a look at my year.
October fifteenth, I'm like, but let's bother me now, do we?
Is something that should be like a month to go something.
(03:02):
So I but I don't want to go to the
urgent care because the urgent care it's either going to
be terrific fantastic care or were they going to be like,
you have a dog, Yes, it's giardia, because that happened
to me before by some stomach pains. And they were like,
you have giardia. Your dog gave you gyardya Why because
my dog once gave me giardia. That was That was
(03:23):
the rationale. I had to crap. I was legitimately, I
was constipated. That's all that was happening.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
I just said I was.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I was gonna ask questions as a cat guy. This
is a brand new world for me.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
It's it's it's a contagious let's what's the name of it?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I can't remember jardias kennel cough. But it's like dog
virus that they can get and it is transmittable to humans.
It's not very common to have it transmitted to humans.
And they gave me this like stuff and I was like,
didn't do anything, and I went to my you know,
I went to my family doctor as a follow up,
and they were like, yeah, that's stupid, You're fine.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Here take this. You know.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Thing that'll make you poop right is rain. After that,
just had to drink more water and have more fiber.
And that's about it. But it was like, this is crazy.
So I'm afraid I'm gonna go in there and they're
gonna be like, you have to have surgery on your
brain instead of you know, take this Z pack and
go about your business.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Right, And what's what is something I'm appreciative of GI
and our podcast coming up on the four year anniversary.
If I was just.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Thinking about we already are we're past it.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Time, So I think about those early days back in
October twenty twenty one when we started this venture, and
now and just the evolution of our relationship and the
evolution of our content, our conversations on here, you and
I more frequently, I would say on your end off air,
discuss time and mortality and how you know that helps
(04:52):
establish our purpose every day to live life with more gratitude,
to live life with more joy and more purpose and
all the things because, like you said, with our ailments
and with the people we care about. I know, last
week on the pod, I shared we lost someone who
was really close to me, my aunt, Jeanie Williams. Her
celebration of life was this past week, Brad, and of
course I took time off from school to attend and
(05:17):
her passing was so sudden that it was. It's already
devastating enough if you have someone you love and care
about who is ill and you know it's not getting better.
But when someone leaves so suddenly and it wasn't planned,
it's just devastating, and it's a reminder of not only mortality,
but how we have to maximize our minutes. Right. I
(05:40):
think back to basketball days, playing basketball not always well
in high school, but playing nonetheless, coaching not always well,
but attempting to coach basketball at the high school level
and junior high and fun Run and Tucson. You just
have to maximize your minutes, right, That was the message
back then. When you get core time, maximize and make account.
(06:00):
I think that's such a great reflection on life as well,
as you just have to maximize it and brad it
to your point. The days where we wake up and
we're not in pain, especially in Arizona, the sun is out,
we're coming up at one of the best by their
months in the state October, like, that's just reason to
be thankful right from the jump, because, like you said,
(06:21):
like we discussed on are and off air, especially as
the years go by, there's just loss occurs, ailments happen,
and I'm just grateful that perhaps an early celebration of
our upcoming POT anniversary. I'm grateful that we've been able
to just have these conversations on there and be there
for each other off here, because since we've started, you
and I have both lost people, some people in my life,
(06:45):
some people in your life, some people we both know
and just got to maximize our minutes. Man, I'm grateful
that we get a platform where we get to talk
about pro wrestling, pop culture. You know how we do
it Every Monday. We're going to get it to wwe
talk Awtah Golden Batch and I know you we have
a brand new someday when you have kids. But I'm
grateful that we also can can have the space to
(07:05):
just talk about real life and just processing what it
means to be human in this very complicated time that
we are are living in today.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
It's really easy to lose sight of what is truly
important in our immediate lives by locking into stuff that
you know certainly could impact us, but we might not
have any direct control over. And it's hard to let
that stuff go when I look at the macro level
of you know, what's happening in the world, what's happening
(07:39):
in America. My thoughts and my feelings about those things
are complicated, you know. And then we have the job,
and we have our kids at the at the school.
I have my kid in my house, so I have
my wife, we have our families, we have our friends.
And then you know, people might leave the profession and
it's it's a form of law. That person that you
(08:01):
work with is gone, and it's different now, and you
have to adapt overcome.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
All of that stuff. But it makes get an upset
over wrestling stuff sur fit into.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
That's where I was going to use it, puts it
into perspective.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Yeah, it's pretty hard to be like, I can't believe
they booked it like.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
That finish you had fed me lose to a tornado DDT.
We'll talk about with you saying Shorley, why would you?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Why would you do that?
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Brad? If I could just just jump into something that
kind of reframe, reframed, I should say my thinking around loss.
At at Genie's celebration of life and then followed by
the repass uh, there was this common thread of people
expressing how thankful they were to have known her, and
for her husband and her son, Spencer, who I grew
(08:48):
up with, both both only children, him and I. Uh,
there was this common moment of gratitude where they thanked
Spencer and her husband Gary for sharing her with us. Right, So,
how cool is it that although she's gone too soon?
How cool is it that I was able to get
to know her that, you know, the forces of the
universe allowed our paths to cross and we were able
(09:12):
to share these years because there were people there who
knew over for five years, ten years, forty years, going
back to her growing up in Indiana and Ohio and
what have you. So just being thankful for all the
experiences man, professional, personal, the joyous ones, the challenging, was
challenging ones. All of its shape who we are and
inform who we've become today. So just being thankful that
(09:35):
we had so many years together. I was like, Yeah,
that's the way. There's there's the grieving stage we're in,
but then also when we can transition to that thankful stage,
that feels that, that feels like that the path to
move forward is there. I can just be thankful that
we had all these years together and that the universe,
you know, allowed me to know this great person.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Yeah, yeah, well said on a level. You know, we
have a John Cena retirement tour. We know that that's
coming to an end. You know that one. We're prepared for.
That one we know is coming. But sometimes you have
a freak accident like you have with Big E, and
that career just sort of gets cut short and you
don't get to have a farewell tour or a goodbye.
(10:18):
And I know there's still hope that maybe someday he'll
be able to get back into the ring, but if
it doesn't happen, it seems like he's pretty content, and
I'm just thankful we got to see him when we
did and got to contribute to the business and all
that totally different than losing a person. But there's no
easy transition out of that, So I thought I'd just
pivot and go right into Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
You know the next part of this, which.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
I know for you is incredibly important, And I know
for you you're grateful all the time for and that's the
two most important words in g I stuff.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah, I am so grateful. That's Steph. Watch is here, Brad.
We had a celebration on raw for our our new
champion lat Primetta, Stephanie Bakker Adam Pearce was there to
coordinate her. The fans celebrated her. Stephanie Bauquer's dad was
in the audience once again, a very close relationship. And
(11:13):
this is just this is again the prophecy being fulfilled.
I can't believe we're finally here. A year ago, she
was just debuting on NXTTV and now here we are
twelve months later and she is a prominent face of
their weekly programming. If we fast forward from Monday to
last Friday, on SmackDown, it was made official. We're getting
(11:34):
Tiffany Stradden versus Stephanie Bacaer at Crown Hearth Champion versus
champion type situation to fight for the Crown Jewel Championship.
That'll be on Saturday, October eleven. So really happy that
Laprimeda will be factored in to that show. So big
week for Stephanie Blackcaer, big week for us here at
(11:55):
GI And before we move to my WWEE question, what
are your thoughts about Steph's ascension over the last year.
It was literally twelve months ago where she was popping
up on her first house show in Mexico with WWE,
and then NXT and then eventually we have this segment
on the pod. But where do you think about where
she's at now on the main roster.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I mean, it's awesome. I'm so happy for her. I
think it's incredible. I'm still so confused about Julia, who
I thought would be bigger at this point. I know
she's slated to wrestle Kyrie Sane in Japan when they
have their event in Japan. They've had matchups in the
(12:35):
past and they've been real good ones, partially probably why
she got interest in America to begin with.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
So we'll see. But I think it's I think it's
great for her. I feel great getting to watch her.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
And.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Yeah, I don't even know if I have anything else
to add. It's really cool to watch. I want to
say I'm surprised that it happened so quickly, but I'm not.
And the Triple H era has been more about crowning
people quickly when they get on the roster, when when
all of their you know, momentum is still carrying them
onto the roster. Because Julie is kind of petered out
quickly on the main roster, she got a lukewarm reception
(13:13):
when she debuted on the main roster. I guess or
she showed up for a fight. I can't remember what
it was, but it was like maybe the rumble, and
it was sort of like people politely clapping, but it
was like, it's weird. It's a real weird reaction because
when she debuted at NXT, the roof popped off, and
I thought that's the way it would be. Stephanie debuted
(13:34):
in both places and the roof popped off, and here
we are. So I don't know what got lost in
translation there that connected with Stephanie, but I'm sure glad
it did because she's freaking awesome and she's getting to
They did it new to her in the ring, and
that was something I'm always worried about with WW is
are they going to just remove everything about this person
that makes them awesome. Turns out the answer is no,
(13:57):
So I was pretty excited about that. So it's really
cool to see.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Well said sticking with w w ee. Okay, I teased
this moment ago. Ricky Saints, the artist formally known as
Ricky Starks. He's still absolute brad and now he has gold.
He defeated Obafemi at NXT No Mercy over the weekend.
Here's my question, what do you think of Saints' professional
(14:20):
journey over the last year? Kind of similar to Steph
fuck heir in that respect. And how surprised were you
if at all, that he was the guy to defeat
the ruler.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
That's a good question. I don't think I'm surprised at
all that he that he was the guy. I would
have said maybe Ethan Page would have been the guy,
but but Ricky doing it doesn't surprise me at all.
He could talk, He's obviously really.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Good in the ring. Who do you put him above?
That's more ready for the main roster to be all
over the main roster. If you take Trick Williams and
take away his entrance, where does that leave you?
Speaker 3 (15:08):
So the entrance is an essential part of the presentation
for sure, right, maybe more so than other n XT character.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I agree, And if you can figure out the character
in the ring a little bit more like, how do
you present that character?
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah, differently in the ring's already got it. Olma has
an amazing entrance, one of my favorites, and also.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Three entrance incredible in ring. Aura like the dude is
a character through and through.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
It's awesome to me. The only the only next move
for him has to be okay. He dropped the title
to Ricky and Mike Stepp shared his his frustration about
this with us. You have a op Femi lose to
a few Ricky DDT's and then the Tornado DDT. I thought, okay,
maybe we'll get a row Schambeau out of this, and
(15:51):
then maybe I'll be okay with this decision because you
and I love Ricky sayings. We've expressed this on air.
That's particularly when he was with aw As Ricky starts okay,
he loses to a few DDT's, Big moment for Ricky,
happy for him. Where does this leap Femi Bright to
what you're saying? This has to be Oba to the
main roster, does it not? If if we can get
(16:12):
over the next year, Oba Femi on the main roster,
he's the guy to beat John Cena and Seena's last match,
which you mentioned earlier. If Obafemi can be the guy
to put down Brock Lesner as well on TV Brett
I you can clip this production team social media team.
I will sign up for WWE on ESPN. If if Oba,
(16:34):
if Obafemi forget the John scene things, I don't think
that's going to happen, unfortunately. But if Obafemi can can
defeat brock Lesner and put him down decisively on the
main roster, sign me up for ESPN, not the monthly gimmick.
I will sign up for a year at the twenty
nine dollars price point. If we are having Obafemi take
the baton from brock Lesner. This is true, Bratt, but
(16:57):
I'm worried also because I could see this going wrong,
even though Olba f Me literally checks all the boxes.
I wonder what's next for him? That was going to
be my alternative question.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Yeah, that's a that's a good question because I don't
know what's next for him. I can see him doing
all kinds of stuff. I just hope he doesn't get
put into the little Paul Haym and Seth Rolin's faction thing.
I can see that happening very easily. I wouldn't want
that at all. I don't want him being in a
(17:25):
faction right now. I also feel like he's not a
faction guy.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
No, and that's that's bron Breakers faction to ascend from.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Agreed, agreed. That's why you do it right, like you
pair them with people and then you build them up.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Is to be Bron's company.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
But I also feel like Braun didn't need that faction
to do that. It just gave him something to do
because they I feel like they were like, well, let's wait,
we have all these stories to tell because they could
just put the belt on him today and nobody's complaining
about that. Nobody like who's going to be like, oh,
that's not believable. Get out of here with that. But
Oba Femi would be a fun first challenger for him,
or like I don't I don't even know where he goes.
(17:59):
I would say that he's probably gonna go up, and
he's probably which which belt does Sammy currently have?
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Us? Yes, the US he can challenges.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Yeah, the open challenges.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Be careful, show up and just take it off of him.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Be careful. Listen, you beat Javon Evans, And I actually thought,
going back to your answer, Brad, I thought Javon Evans
was going to be the guy to be thrown oba Femi.
I thought for sure pencil that in for Stand and
Deliver twenty twenty six, Oba's beat him on a few
different occasions. Even though Javon's come up really close, Javon
is going to be the guy. So that surprised me
that that Ricky got to be the one much sooner
(18:35):
than I thought Oba was gonna lose, because listen, Brad,
if Obafemi doesn't lose a match until twenty thirty one,
I would have no issue with that, with that whatsoever.
I I love Oba Femi that much. But yeah, I
just again, what you said is is it resonates with
me for sure?
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Well, the women's title also, that uh not the outcome
you were expecting. No, no, I was gonna do. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Okay, So well, while we're here, Lola vice, that was
her moment to be crowned. What do we yeah? Yeah,
she she wins the underground matches. She she's undefeated at those,
if I'm not mistaken. But I really thought this is
going to be the moment to crown her. Who do
you think of the gate? The walk reminded me of
Shana Basler, but my stuff also pointed this out for
(19:26):
us in the group chat. It does seem like it's
gonna be Laaney. I forget her last name. I haven't
been as plugged into the n XT, but I'm thinking
it's gonna be a newer talent. I don't think it's
gonna be a of that like Shana. Yeah, yeah, I
think that'll make sense for what do we do next
with Fatal Attraction. I've just I didn't like the layout
of the match, particularly how it ended, and I really
thought and wanted Lola to get that victory. I wonder
(19:50):
if she gonna pop up on Mondays or Friday's Brad
because Sammy's am Like you said, we have that us
open challenge. Be careful what you wish for Sammy, we
love you. But if if Oba's music and he accepts
that challenge, that will be the end of Sammy's ain's
title run for Lola for Lola Vice, I'm not sure.
I think she's going to stay in n XT, but
(20:11):
I I just see a lot of potential in in her.
I think the character is still needing some some work,
but I just think she's improved a lot, and I
think there's just a lot of potential with her. I
was shocked, actually, I I thought that was going to
be a given that she was going to get the
dumb I'm still processing it, clearly.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yeah, last week we mentioned it on the show, so, yeah,
what are we doing this?
Speaker 2 (20:33):
I think the fourdts kind of gave me, oh, what
was his name? I'm blanking who did Miro fight?
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Oh yeah, somebody else?
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Yeah, yeah, going after his weak spot, his neck. That's
what set up his ultimate loss anyway, and then he
went on Hiatus, came back one time, and then left
the company forever. And that was doing kind of that
an old gimmick looking like the new gimmick and none
of it makes sense, but it kind of reminded me
of that, like going after that neck. The neck is
the only weak spot he's he has. I wonder if
(21:12):
it was let's just stick with that, because every once
in a while, like you can do that and go
like a wrestler, one with a wrestling move, and that's
pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
You could also say.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
You know, like Gunfur uses a different finisher all the time.
It's not always the power bomb. Sometimes it's just you know,
he boots somebody in the face and that's the end
of it, or chokes him out or whatever. You know,
Like we got all these different ways to end a match.
I wonder if it's Ricky trying to get up somebody
that big. I don't know that he could do that
move safely and someone that large, because we've seen we've
(21:45):
seen him try to do it in AAW when he
was Ricky Storks in an AW like, they always like
kick themselves out of it, so they can't have it done.
So get him up and then they get out because
if he put like big Bill up there, big Bill's
gonna break his neck. So I don't know if that's
a move that you could do safely with with Obafemi
up there.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
A feud we never got. Unfortunately for Ricky Starks. You
and I were yearning for him for so long when
he was off AWTV and my all accounts was healthy.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
We were like, yo, Ricky Starks. I think a lot
of our audience no brainer can't miss. I think a
lot of our audience as well. Brad agreed that, okay,
we have the established guys who are going to be
the first set of men's champions in AW Chris Jericho,
John Moxley, Kenny Omega, Hangman Page could the MJF was
going to be next up. But you and I, if
memory serves, really slotted Ricky Starks in that conversation.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
As he could, he could be there, he could be
the pillar. I remember he had that Winner is Coming
match maybe twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three against
MJF for the title, and no one us included thought
Ricky was going to win, but he belonged there. So
then we had he was future prominently on Collision when
Collision was in the image of cmpunk. You had the
(22:59):
feud with cmpunk, You had the feud with Brian Danielson,
awesome feud.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
It was the one with Cope that ended up like
being the death sentence. Yeah, the moment with Coche got
there him in the ring and it's like and then
he was I'm not sure if I'm going in order here,
but we know he had that tag run he had.
He was champs with Big Bill. We got to see
him live versus Stinging Darby when they lost the titles.
My favorite live experience ever watching wrestling, and then relatively
(23:26):
soon after he disappeared from TV. What's he gonna do?
Is he gonna stay with Awn? Eventually he ends up
popping up in Florida for the NXT taping and here
we are where he is finally champ of a promotion.
Just so happy for him because you and I, You
and I have been wanting to see him with the
(23:48):
top prize in a company. So really cool, although again
I'm not sure I would I penciled him in to
be the guy to beat Oba. Just really cool that
Ricky Starks, Ricky Saints bet on himself. He is who
we thought he's always been, and he's ready to be
the top guy in the next I'm excited to see
what comes next.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Yeah, I am too.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I think about, like, what does Ricky Saints look like
on a main roster run?
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Oba said, Carrie and Cody's bags. I said, damn, but
that's that's I also thought that's that's a lot.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Yeah, that's that's rough.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
But I also like it. W W.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
I don't know where he Yeah, I don't know how
he slots in there, you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (24:34):
Like it's he's where he's supposed to be right now.
He's in a good spot right now. They had that
TNA Invasion angle. We'll see what the I know they
announced the Invasion show. I think it's gonna happen on
two a week from this Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yeah, Like talking about it is like he's tired about
this Invasion News maybe right chucking down there and.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Right, and then when we figure out whatever that's gonna be,
they're gonna have the show in a week and then
lee that who are going to be Ricky's challenges? Because
last thing I want to say, Brad, the indictment for
NXT is the same it's been for TNA for me
for a minute now, which is the men's top title division.
It just has not been hitting in NXT for a
(25:16):
long time. It's not been there. You have an Obafemi,
but I remember there was a PLD where Obafemi took
on Grayson Waller in Austin Theory in a triple threat match.
Those guys aren't even in NXT proper anymore. And when TNA, okay,
you have Joe Hendry, you have Mike Santana, but the
current title isn't even on your promotion. The current champion
(25:37):
isn't on your promotion. It's Trick Williams. So I'm really
eager to see for the rest of this year and
heading into twenty twenty six, how does NXT and TNA
develop their men's division because the top title holder has
really lacked viable challengers for quite some time. And if anything,
I think NXT has been lacking even more than TNA
(25:58):
because you had that time where Nick them was the
champ and then there was Joe Hendry and Moose is
always there. But I wonder if Ricky Saints can help help,
I don't just help reinvigorate the depth of that division
because you had Miles Born. No disrespect to Miles Born
by reports he he maybe Stephanie Backer's real life partner,
so you know, the man is winning in real life.
(26:19):
We love that for him. But we had Miles Born
versus Obafemi on a p l E for the for
the title what are we doing here? Where? Where's the
where's the where's the death of that roster? So very
excited for Ricky Saints and eager to see how the
men's singles division looks because I think you could argue
it's been the weaker part of NXC TV for for
(26:39):
quite some time.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Yeah, it has been for a long time now. You know,
like we had before before AW existed, NXT was crazy.
You know Adam Cole Keith Lee carrying cross with that run.
People really hated him there too, and in his wrestling
and all that stuff. And it's like, you guys came
in as Killer Cross. Do you expect him to wrestle
(27:01):
a technical chain wrestling style. I don't understand. You had
like a lot of talent in the men's division and
people that could be viable, you know, contenders. I just
see like most of the people that are in there
are like this, like different versions of the same thing.
And I think Obafemi, Ricky Starks or Ricky Saints and.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
You know Ethan.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
Page are all sort of different by a lot, right,
They're just very very different characters. But because they're all
different sizes, it's like Ethan Page and Obafemi makes sense
to me because like they're both big dudes. Ricky Saints
is not a big dude, but his finishing move is
(27:45):
like a big dude finishing move, right like that That's
the part that I'm always like, I don't know how
that's going to work in ten years when your body
is breaking down from hassing up a three hundred and
fifty pound person and then throwing them like and we
know he's had like neck issues and s fine issues
and stuff. So I just I I hope that's a
(28:06):
viable thing. You either, they're gonna have to pivot. We
know stars that have gone to different finishers and have
changed over time, even like you know Jeff Hardy changing
the way he lands with the scent on. He used
to do it to save people and now he's like, nope,
you're taking all of it. It's gonna hurt real bad
because I'll break my legs if I don't do it.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
So we'll see.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
But it's just like to your point, character wise, they
have established veteran characters. You have Nick Nemath, you have
got them blanking in TNA, Frank not TNA forgetting. Yeah,
just n XT have a bunch of veterans he can
(28:45):
have shown Seawn Spears.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Yeah, Shawn Spears, he is a faction, but yeah he's
a veteran veteran talent.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
But that's but that's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Like you have a lot of older veterans that like
could easily they could take the belt.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
They could be on the top, they'd have a run.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
That's fine, they'd be a great place to carry the
division for a while, and so you can build a
viable contender up. But also like we don't want to
do that because their veterans are there to put over
the younger talent and help them out and make them
look good so that they get ready, YadA YadA.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
I don't want to believe the point, but it's it's
just h yeah, you're there's a.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
Lot of talent there, but there's not a lot of
standout talent where if you look at the women's division overall,
it's like all stand out talent.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Yeah, we're talking. I mean Lol Device now is maybe
third or fourth on the depth chart, and I think
she's more compelling than most of the the.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Lol Device j C Jane soul Ruka, there's just like.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
US champion Jada Parker. I mean, it's just it's and
it continues to be an embarrassment of riches.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Yeah, and then you have tn A, and I feel
like that is a good place to inject other talent
into it. But also like, if they're in TNA and
not on n XT to begin with, is it because
there wasn't a roster spot open for it? Is because
they were too stubborn to take that spot? Or is
it because WW is like now you're not gonna fit
and now what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Triple A.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
It's the same thing. You can have all these folks
come over and do those things but stay in Triple
A like it's I don't know. I don't know how
to feel about it because it's weird. It's all sort
of weird. I don't really understand how this is all
supposed to fit together. NXT is starting to feel like
it's got the same problems. To me, this isn't my question.
We're going to go forever though, this isn't my question.
(30:28):
NFT feels a little bit to me the way that
AW feels with all the roh stuff. It's like, you
have this other brand that's also part of this brand,
and I have to care about this brand, but there's
tomfooleryhappen over here where I never know what the hell
is going on. I want to be able to watch
my thing, and I want to get excited about crossovers,
(30:48):
but when the crossover is taking away from the main
product and talent on the main product them actually invested
in seeing and now I don't see them because they're
going to wrestle Moose or somebody I'm not watching on TNA.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
You know, Mike Santana coming over.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I'd be excited to watch that, but I'm excited because
of Santana's work in aw not because of anything else,
you know. So it's just it's a bit of a
struggle for me to try to stretch into that when
I I'm not locked into the product. And I think
part of that was because, you know, like when it
was on Wednesday head to head with Dynamite, I was
picking and I was I was picking Dynamite because it
(31:25):
was just better, way better at that time. And now
it's like it's a very good product. But I'm so
used to not watching it, and by one night a week,
I feel I don't have to watch wrestling, especially since
I can't because I don't it's not available to me.
But I did get a VPN this week, so maybe
we changed that. Maybe it's time to go back to
the network and get rid of the CESPN and subscription.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
We'll see the future sponsor of g I hope.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
So if you're listening the Nord VPN, Okay, Tyler mcquestion
for you. I'll try to be quick.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
It's a tough one.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Crown Jewel is kind of getting the Survivor series Champ
versus Champ treatment with Seth versus Cody, and as you mentioned,
Tiffany versus Stephanie We're also getting Cene versus Styles after
fans basically lobbied.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
For that and we got it.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
The Triple A Show is also getting a bunch of matches,
and like I mentioned, Julia and Kyrie Sing will be at.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
The Japan show.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Okay with ww in Mexico, in Australia at Perth in Riod,
South Saudi Arabia. We've seen them India, over in the
UK and France. Which nation which hasn't had a WWE event?
Would you like to see get one next?
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Wow? That's that's tough. Okay, So I gotta go with
the homerk pick. When's the last time WWE had a
show in Italy? I think they went there for a SmackDown.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Or raw yeah problem recently, but I don't know that.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
They've had a pl either. I would love that. My
father's from there. I love one WWE you know when
they go overseas and they'll show scenery from these different
locations from I love that England from Scotland.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Drone footage from everywhere and all the b roll stuff
they do.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Yeah, from Belfast. I could just sit through like thirty
minutes of that. If it isn't that the talent going
through these different locations. So Italy is going to be
my choice right right off, Rip there's actually in Italy
reference I'm gonna make later likely and what did we
miss a new show on Prime Video that is said
in Italy And I'm just loving the scenery and how
(33:36):
that's woven into the story. So it Lea is going
to be my answer here, Brad, for no other reason
than I love seeing Italian scenery. And if we could
have some of our favorite performers from WWE, you know,
frolic around and then form us. So yeah, Italian history
I would love that for us. How about you mean?
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Yeah, I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
I think Italy, Greece, Spain, any anywhere in the Mediterranean
would be great. I think it would be cool to
see them do it. I know they've I think they
went there. I went they went to Germany at one point,
but I think that could be really interesting. Or Austria
or somewhere in that in that area could be a
lot of fun. Belgium would be cool. But yeah, I
have imagine them getting it set up inside the coliseum,
(34:17):
having a smaller venue, put bleachers in the center, in
the ring in the middle, and having a Coliseum show.
Nothing would ever touch that. That would be the one
that would be that would sell out fifteen seconds. It
would be incredible. Wouldn't be able to pull it off,
probably not, but or Spain if by by or near
or in doubt in the Basilica or There's so many
(34:41):
different places that you go. They could go to New
Zealand instead of Australia. You know, you could always do
somewhere there. You know, they could do one in Shanghai
that could be really cool and different. Or Hong Kong
that would be that would be really cool, because like
there's there's parts of those cities that are just in
saying in the background that I'm sure there's a venue
(35:03):
where they could do it and it would just be
so different. But you know, getting getting that set up
would be a difficult probably a difficult process. Even though
they're kind of independent, it's you know, still that region
of the world is tough if you're an American company. Uh,
Korea would be great. South specifically, I'm sure there's places
(35:25):
in South America that I'm not thinking of right now too.
Imagine Stephanie Vauquire having a having a home match in
Chile that could.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Be really cool. Brazil would be really cool. You could
do it in Rio, that would be amazing, or Brazilia.
There's there's a lot of choices here. I think I'm
with you though, first choice it's got to be in
the Mediterranean. I'll agree with you in say, Italy.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
I love that for us. I have no no argument
against the The fan base is so global, and this
is something I didn't realize when when I was coming
up and answered my wrestling fandom brad is I mean,
I guess, like a lot of forms of entertainment, Like
most sports, it's global. It's a global industry, but particularly
particularly now with the reach of wrestling, with as many
viable companies as there are, fans are not limited just
(36:13):
the United States. We've even been able to interact with
fans outside of the United States since we started our podcast,
and it's just incredible that wrestling touches people far far
beyond you know, Arizona, far beyond the United States. So
I love all your shouts, Italy, let's make it happen.
I'm here for it.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Well, there's a lot of things I'm here for, Tyler.
One of them is it's free.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
It's my kid.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
I am here with another. Someday when you have kids,
so play the.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
Music and now it's time for fundal someday when you
have kids.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
That's okay, okay, Tyler.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Last week I was talking about the three D print
job that I've been working on for the cosplay thing.
I showed you a piece earlier. It's starting to come together.
I'm hoping that get I hope he's done today for
the most part. Some stuff I gotta do some touch ups,
a few things here and there, but ultimately I'm pretty
happy with how it turned out. There's stuff I could
(37:23):
have done better. Prey is not going to care, so
that's the part I have to keep it reminding myself, like,
my kid's not gonna be like, ah, it's not perfect.
He's gonna be pumped. She has something so and then
she'll ask questions. It'll be great.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Now it's not great. Is Pray is still terrified of
the weather.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
In Arizona. It appears got all of the weather this week,
every bit of it. All the weather ever happened in Globe.
Thinking of the people in Globe. People lost their life
this week the last couple of days. Massive flooding in
Globe Pureia. I believe got hit really hard to your
neck of the It's got way more rain than we did.
(38:01):
I think we had a couple of sprinkles and then
it headed up to you. It was it was pretty
gnarly before it wears headphones try to block out the thunder.
Now we got her these these wired kind of blue
and pink headphones. There are kids headphones that have a
decibel limit on them so that they can't go too loud,
(38:22):
they can't damage their ears.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
So I looked up like, are what are the best ones?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
What are the ones?
Speaker 2 (38:27):
And then eventually I came down to like, no, I
know this brand. I'm just gonna trust this one and
go with this. I didn't know Balkan was still making products.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
I had no idea.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
So I bought a pair of Balkan Bluetooth headphones that
are volume limiting to like I can't remember what the
DV is. I think our other ones were like minus
ninety four or something ninety four. I never know how
they do decibels on these things, because it's different than
when I work with well anyway, they're a little louder
than are other ones. But are other ones weren't Bluetooth Tyler,
(39:01):
this child's so excited to be able to walk around
without having to carry her crap that she's leaving her
her kindle tablet up on the table and then walking
around to do other things. She can't hear a damn thing,
and she's bumping into us. She's she's not paying attention
to anywhere she's walking. It is nightmare fuel. I think
(39:23):
I made a mistake. She's really excited about this, but
she is just all over the place with this walking around,
not listening, not paying attention. She didn't even have a
phone in her hand, Tyler, she's just zombi fide through
audio and just like yep, going through the gate. She
walked right into me. Last night, I had coffee in
(39:45):
my hand and it was an awfu gatto. Just got
some ice cream in a little espresso shot and it
was it was very good, little little treat.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
I bet Jess was probably up pretty late. I slept
like a baby, but I had it in my hand.
She just walked into me. This is the thing. She
didn't even turn around. She didn't acknowledge she hit me.
She didn't do anything.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
She just kept going.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
I was like her hearing is so affected that she
can't feel the world around her, so I don't know
we might have a problem on her hands. I had
to just been telling her. I've been telling her, it's
only been like two days with this thing.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Just collect this. If you get up, just just take
one earphone off around you.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
She's not buying me final thing, final thing. On a
positive note, that's not really positive, but it is hilarious.
She has no sense of volume with those things on,
and she doesn't realize she's being a loud She's being
loud enough so she can hear herself, so she'll just
be like, do we have.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Any sandwiches left? Are there any sandwiches? It's like, I
am right here. Stop with your yelling.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
It's it's kind of hilarious. And then I'll be like,
you're being too loud. Huh, you are being too loud.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Grab the headphones. You're being too loud.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
This is where the one ear id comes into play,
for it would be really helpful if you want to
just remove one of them.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
So I hope, I hope you get to experience all
of that someday when you have kids.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
The blue and pink headphones our favorite third graders.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
They're now in trash those broke Now they're all pink.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Now they're all now they're all pink, shot out shades,
but mostly yeah, yeah, yeah. Shout out for shout out
our favorite third grader, shout out to my favorite segment, Brad.
Thank you for the latest edition of Some Day When
You Have Kids. I believe that's two weeks back to back.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
What it is?
Speaker 3 (41:37):
It is? What a time on the podcast. Also, what
a time to be watching all of the wrestling. So
as we transition Brad to AW Talk, Orange Cassidy return
to AW, Chris sat Lander main evented, Dynamite, Darby Allen
still has access to a flame thrower, and Jurassic Express
is advertised for this Wednesday's sixth anniversary show, six years
(41:59):
of AW on the myees. Oh, we're also getting women's
tag titles and a women's Blood and Guts match at
an undetermined date in the future. Which a w original stories?
They have to be an original talent from day one?
Which one story are you most invested in for the
rest of the calendar year?
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Oh man, that's a tough one.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
We've got oc we got Chris, We've got dogs, We've
got a bunch of people I didn't Mentionine on Wednesday,
hang Man.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
I don't think it's gonna It's not gonna be hang Man,
MGF or Kenny Omega.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
I'm excited for them. Uh, it's it's gonna be Jack Perry.
Right now.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
I'm just gonna stop there and say it's gonna be
Jack Perry. And here's why it's not, because I really
excited to see what they do with Orange Cassidy, hopefully
debut him better next time. I'm gonna say it's Orange Cassidy. Uh,
out side of Jungle Boy. But I want to know
if he's Jack Perry or if he's Jungle Boy. We
have Jurassic Express coming up here. I don't know what
(43:07):
that looks like with this Jack Perry. Is that Jack
Perry or is that Jungle Boy? Or are they gonna
go backwards in time? He's coming out with the little
tan trunks. I honestly in on Wednesday, Finally, don't I
don't actually want that, Like, that's not a thing I'm
interested in.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Yeah, you mentioned that last week because I really liked.
Speaker 1 (43:26):
The way he was working as Jack Perry.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
It doesn't mean he can't do that in the ring,
but it like it's not gonna feel the same if
he's wearing frills on his boots and wearing underwear, like,
it's just not.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
If he decides to wear like camo pants instead of
all black, I'm in that would work. That would work
for me.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
Then he's like jungle man instead of jungle boy. It's
like just a boy and a dinosaur. It's like, are
you really gonna call him a boy after all the
crap he did, Like, that's not a boy anymore.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
We can't be calling him jungle boy.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
I think that's he grew chess here.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Yeah, I think it's condescending now if they Nope, Nope,
not even gonna. I'm not gonna speak.
Speaker 3 (44:12):
I saw in real time shout out to our YouTube.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
We thought about it.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
We saw in real time. I was maybe we'll get
Marco Stunt.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
That's what I was gonna say, and I talked myself
out of it. That's why really, because I'm pretty sure
he announced his retirement a while back, so I don't
think we're any mark our stars.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:27):
I think it was like, yeah, this isn't working out,
so I'm just gonna go focus on music and whatever
else I was doing. So I Hopefully I'm wrong and
they call him back at least for part of it,
but like it would be fun to have him come
back and be like, both of you, you're just gonna
move on like nothing happened. You guys are just fine
(44:47):
with this a hug in the ring and it's over.
With all the stuff that happened between YouTube what you
did to me? I think that could be a lot
of fun, uh, and try to figure out, like, Okay,
they're back together, Lucaswurst didn't die, he was still doing
kill switch stuff.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
You just stopped. There's a story there. What is it? Like,
what's the story there? Why did he just stop?
Speaker 2 (45:08):
So there's so many things there that I'm interested in
finding out as much as I'm like interested in them
just trying to handle this weird transition. I think Jungle
Boy Jack Perry is the one that I'm most interested
in Luchswars obviously, but because it's Drassic Express, so Jurassic
Express as a whole, maybe that's my original that I'm
(45:29):
most interested in. I'm just excited to have this tag
team back in that tag team division and not a trios,
even though we could get one with Marco Stunt that's
not a trio. That's a manager with the two other people,
or a weapon with the two other people.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
I guess likewise, what about you. I'm locked in for
Chris stat Lander right now, not just the fact that
she is the Women's World Champ, but there is the
partnership with Harley Cameron.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
The double fingers to John's face.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
There is closing Dynamite before Darby came out closing Dynamite
Wariat with with putting the double bird in John Moxley's face.
There is the kind of always lingering frenemy situation with
the Little Nightingale's meaning about women's tag titles, you and
I fantasy book them possibly being the inaugural Women's Tag Champ.
(46:18):
So not just that we love christat Lander and she's
she's great at what she does, but also from a storyline,
from a character investment perspective, I'm locked into her and
Harley Cameron partner's long term what's going on with this
Death Riders situation. They've recruited her, but she effectively said no,
I think on Wednesday with.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
The double birds and a Laria, it'll do that.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
Yeah, Yeah, I think I think that was a pretty
a pretty hard.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
I don't think that got a question too.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Yeah, I don't think we're just happy about it. Maybe
that's maybe that's christat Lander's challenger at Wresselled dream we saw,
she we shall see. So christat Lander is my choice here.
I'm really optimistic that the best is yet to come.
She's been here six years, but really optimistic that the
best is yet to come.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
For I completely agree with that. I'm not mad at
that at all. I think I think Chris is a
great pick. She's one of the people I was thinking of,
and like, there's still stuff that we have to look
forward to. We have, you know, Anna J is still
there and we have a lot of aw Originals, even
though Anna J was kind of not an original right
(47:21):
like she came in a little later.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
I think she was.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
She was there, but I don't think she was really
being used. And then Brodie Lee put her on the
map when they're like I got the Queen Slayer out
here taking out Brandy.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Yes, exactly. The then I was thinking of the Nila Roses,
the Rihose Dad.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
I think she'll be back.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
I think there's stuff there that we don't know about there.
For all, we know her medical stuff came back up.
Speaker 3 (47:50):
We don't know.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
We know she got suspended. We know there's probably super
weirdness there with the Adam Cole thing. There's there's probably
a whole bunch of reasons she's not there that we
don't we're not privy, or she's just unhappy creatively.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (48:03):
She could have done something to get herself in trouble
and now she's benched. I have absolutely no idea, none
of us do, except for Britain. Maybe some select people
in her circle. Maybe maybe she's just not happy with
wrestling and she wants to focus on her you know,
her actual real life school training, with her dental practice.
That there's I got a lot of questions about that.
(48:26):
I think, you know, it's not an original. But like
people seem to have forgotten Ruby, Soho exists. We're gonna
get her back eventually. Yeah, So I don't know when.
I don't know how the birth went. I don't know
how maman's doing. I don't know if she has a timeline.
I don't know any of that stuff. But like I'm
assuming she's not done. And you know, we saw, you know,
(48:48):
Penelope Ford is an original.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
She's doing some cool stuff. I'm excited to see what
happens there.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
We saw her kind of not not debut or re debut,
but a redbut as a tag team with her former
tag partner Ali is back in wrestling. I'd love to
see the Bunny come back to AW. I don't understand
why she left in the first place. I think she
got cut, but I'm not sure. I have no idea
what happened there wasn't that was that pre ro OH
(49:19):
when she left, because she's been gone.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
For a couple of years.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
But I believe so.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
But that would have made sense to have her around
because there's plenty of places that she could work. She
could work in ROH, she could work in AW. They
have plenty of room. I would love to see her
come back. There's a lot of originals that aren't there anymore.
We already talked about Ricky Ethan Page came on late.
He was an ROH transfer, but he always felt like
(49:45):
he became a big thing in AAW even though it
was like unbelievable how they didn't use him correctly. A
lot of questions there too, So my answer I guess
is I don't know. Jack Perry let's go with that.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
My question for you, but honorable mentioned Scorpio Skot.
Speaker 1 (50:01):
Scorpio sky thank you.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
Okay, we're back, we got Skyflight.
Speaker 1 (50:04):
But Daniels is still there doing background stuff.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
And in December, what what does skyflight look like?
Speaker 1 (50:11):
Private party? Is a private party still there? I don't
even know.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
I I think they're probably popping probably but probably popping
up on it next ten, the next time we see
them in a more than likely televised ring. How different
are they from all the other NXT talent? Okay, moving on,
here's my question for you. That was my processing.
Speaker 1 (50:31):
Yeah, so so.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
Orange, this is this is what I wrote, and you're
gonna you're probably gonna pop for this. Orange Cassidy is
back and his reappearance was so clunked by tech that
I'm sad for all the tech people involved.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
It happens. It just never feels good.
Speaker 2 (50:48):
When the lights don't go off early enough, it ruins
the surprise. Then the lights go down and then we
bring them back up.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
It just looked bad.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Everybody knew he was there and was cheering before the reveal.
So it's that uh, Express re debuts next week. But
all right, this is what I wrote and reading for
my netes forbidden because I assumed you were going to
ask me about who would be the inaugural women's tag
title champs.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
Now quite Nope, Just when you think you know me, you.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
Think you know how do you think I doubt it'll
be edge?
Speaker 2 (51:19):
How do you think the first ever women's Blood and
Guts Match is going to affect the women's tag division?
Speaker 1 (51:28):
So here's my thought process.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
If we're going to start this tournament or however we're
going to do this pretty soon, and you have like
a whole bunch of tag team people that are going
to be doing a big match, not as tag teams,
kind of hard to be in the tournament for the
tag division if you're fing off doing other stuff. So
(51:51):
how do you think Blood and Guts Match is going
to affect the Tag division?
Speaker 1 (51:54):
If at all?
Speaker 3 (51:57):
Yeah, the timing of this is going to be a
pair of amount because the talent involved. There's a lot
of talent involved that overlap. You mentioned the aforementioned Penelope
before it to Megan Bain, I would argue, probably the
front runners to win the inaugural.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
That's who I was thinking too.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
Yeah, it just makes sense.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
But Julian Sky Blue have been tagging since, thank you,
but you.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
Also have a viable option and Julia Hard and Sky Blue,
who are involved in this women's blood and Gut situation
opposite Jamie Hayter, Queen Amynada, so on and so forth,
So I would I would venture to guess Women's Blood
and Guts that match will happen before the inaugural at
Tag Champion of Crowd, just because it's I think it's
just easier to get one match in versus potentially, you know,
(52:41):
a several multi week tournament, probably culminating in a match
at a pay per view as opposed to a dynamite.
Let's say nless there's a big dynamite advertised for HBO Max.
So I think Blood and Guts will happen first. I
would surmise that Jamie Hayter Queen a Minadas team will
in Blood and Guts, the baby Faces get the victory
(53:02):
just as we want. And then I think we're going
to start the women's tag title era with Villains as champ,
with heels having the gold again, whether that be Megan Baana,
Peneloty Ford or the Sisters of sin In, Julia Hart
and Sky Blue. So my thought is creatively okay, the
team we like gets the win at Blood and Guts
(53:24):
team hater tim Aminada, but then the Heels get back
on top when they actually end up winning the gold
probably a few weeks or a month or so later,
when when we crown the first women's tag champ. So
it's going to be interesting. It's gonna, I think, overlap
a lot of the same talent. But I'm just so
excited we finally reached this place where it in quick
(53:46):
you know, in quick secession, we get both of the
wishes we hope would become granted.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
I wonder, I wonder if because I know Shean and
Basler have been doing stuff with NXT, but I don't
know if she's on a contract stage, you know, she
might be just done. I don't know, she might be like,
I'm in my forties, I'm really good.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
You need that tag team with Marina Shafir.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
Exactly what I was thinking is like they will be
the chap well now that Chris turned them down right
and we need we need another woman in this division.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
I'm going to make a call to one of my friends.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
Marina goes on. I know somebody can give me two minutes.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
John, Yeah, so like I could see that happening. There's
a lot of things I could see happening there, But yeah,
that would that would make sense to me having both
them in there. And you know, Shane is great on
the stick. Imagine her in aw doing a promo. It
would be perfection, I think, I mean lights out, Like
it would be so good. Then you don't have to
(54:40):
have Marina talk if you don't want to. Even though
I watched her do a promo in was at MLW.
She had a match this past week or two weeks ago.
I don't know if you saw it, but she cut
a promo after the win and was.
Speaker 3 (54:53):
Like, I heard it.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
I've been waiting for a long time to get in
here and do this. I needed to let people know
that I'm in here and I'm ready. And I was like, oh, yeah,
give me this, give me this version of her right now.
So it's really cool, Uh, I could I could see
that happening. There's a lot of things that could happen here.
I just feel, you know, out of this blood and
(55:15):
guts match, we're gonna have a lot of people going
back to singles run and I don't know who you
take because because we just sort of naturally have little
factions that are not factions, they're trios. So you have
the Tecla, Julia Hart, What's what are they called? The
going I can't even remembers of Sin, Sisters of Sin,
(55:36):
those three, I was like that triangle those three, uh, the.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
Distant cousin of Yeah, are not a tag team? There
are trios? And do you free bird it?
Speaker 2 (55:47):
Do you have Juliet Sky Blue be the tag team
and Techla's the singles person from the faction that just
gets in the way. Do you just go full Megan
Bane and Penelope forward? Does Penelope turn on Meghan Bain
and team with Bunny? Maybe we get Bunny backed. That
would be a great reason to bring her back. The
Renegade twins are out there. You could have Athena and
(56:08):
Billy start, You could have all kinds of things are
possible here with the r OH women's division as well.
What CMLL Talent would want to step up to this
is Lady Frost going to be involved. There's so many
different things that could happen here. I'm super excited about it.
I'm a little worried that because you know, sometimes injuries
(56:28):
happen during a blood and Guts match? Is that it
because they didn't Eddie Kingston get hurt during that match?
Or and he work hurt during Blood and Guts because
that was sort of the end of it. I think
he was injured up on top of the cage and
then he went.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
I can't remember what happened out of it. I couldn't
remember that's when he stopped or if it was shortly
after that. But anyway, I'm excited to see what happens.
I can't wait for Women's Blood and Guts. I can't
wait to see what they do. How do they make
this different?
Speaker 1 (56:57):
What do they do?
Speaker 2 (56:58):
How uncomfortable will they make us? And how problematic is
the conversation going to be online? That's what I always
look forward to, the toxic masculinity leaking out of the woodwork.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
I'm excited for that.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
Yeah, it's it's gonna be great. Sands, toxic sands, toxicity. Uh,
the action is going to be great, And I really
it's cool to see the fervor around women's wrestling, particularly
the women's division, the women's roster in ad W It's
exciting to see the fervor being acknowledged that, you know,
six years of dynamite, we're celebrating that this week. H
(57:36):
the division has come so far. Speaking of embarrassment of riches,
now is the time to establish new titles, to get
that blood and guts match pop. And we've been it
seems like we've been building toward women's blood and guts
for months now.
Speaker 1 (57:49):
I was finally, I was like, the only way this
is gonna end is it's like, thank God, it's gonna end.
Speaker 3 (57:53):
Finally, it's not yet. Finally it's not just a dream
or a wish for it. Yes, yes, and and hopefully
the bill to it the time, given the promotion, all
of it will be befitting of the incredibly talented women
who are involved here.
Speaker 2 (58:09):
Yeah, I think it'll be good. I wonder if, like,
who are the other people that will be involved in it?
You know, it's not always just right now it's like
three on three. I think there'll be more people.
Speaker 1 (58:18):
I wonder who it is.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
Maybe this is you brought up, you brought to your point,
you brought it up earlier. Maybe it's maybe Nyla comes back.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
I hope so, I hope so too. And I and and.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Speaking of roses, Tyler, I know you have a you
have another one for us, you got you got updates,
you got thoughts.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
I did not see it. I did not commit to this.
I said I was going to. I sent a I
sent a text to Suggests which went unresponded. So I
I kind of know how that was gonna gonna go there. Uh,
but it's time for a rose from Tyler Golden Batch edition.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
Cue of that music, and now for a rose from
GI's most Eligible Bachelor.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
We still love you, Jess. So Brad, I have a
rose to give out this week. But I want to
give a recap of the season premiere of Gold of
the Golden Bachelor, effectively season two of said show. So
as a reminder, Mel Owens, the sixty six year old
retired NFL linebacker, is our new lead Michigan Wolverine turned
(59:31):
Orange County based lawyer, which is some some quick bio
in case you missed our preview last week. Now you
may recall twenty three women were part of the cast
to contend for Mel's heart this season. I'm here to
tell you, Brad, ten were eliminated over the course of
a two hour season premiere. This includes Andre's sister No
(59:54):
that's who my rose goes to this week because she
she's gone too early from this season. She was eliminated,
so Andrew's gone see you later.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Too old for ole, Mel, I won't even approach that one.
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
What we'll get there though in a moment. And then Maya,
the fifty eight year old brunette who works in college sports,
the youngest one, she got the boot as well. So
this is this is where it's important to bring up.
I pride myself on being right about predictions ten percent
of the time, but then inevitably there's the other ninety percent,
(01:00:27):
and this is where the ninety percent strikes again. You
and I penciled her in as a front runner last week,
and Mel said, nah, he has other plans, so she
has gone as well. Carla, who I know sit out
to both of us in the cast, a formal former model,
she got the boot as well, which I was very
surprised at. It wasn't all bad. Well, that's a lot.
(01:00:49):
There was a lot of bad during this season premiere.
There was a group date that I sent you a
picture of. Yes, it was a cheer competition, just pulling
that up featuring featuring Paula Abdul as the celebrity guest
or in this case, the choreographer. And usually when there
are these these absurd group dates during the standard seasons
of bach, bachelor, and Bachelorette, it's not a huge deal.
(01:01:12):
We know what we're signing up for. But there's something
about having women of a certain age dress up in
these these cheerleader uniforms and and essentially come up with
the cheer with the help of Paula Abdul for another
grown person's heart. Uh, and you know Mel's watching, Jesse
Palmer's watching, Paula's watching it. Somehow did an animated cat
(01:01:32):
come out at any point? Did not happen that maybe
would have would have would have up up to my
spirit for this. And then of course they're in a
football stadium and there is all these extras who are
somehow cast. I don't know where they got these people
cheering it on. So it just seems even more absurd
when you watch as a viewer and you think these
are women of a certain age, they're accomplished. There could
(01:01:55):
be a chess tournament, or there could be any number
of other group dates that are more befitting of who
they are. For some reason, we carry on the absurdity
into these golden series. So I have questions about this.
What I want to end with Brad is this episode
made me think of so thirteen women heading into episode
two this week, we need to pick some new front runners. Well,
(01:02:16):
we'll have to get on that. But this particular season
premiere made me think of two check points that women
in my life have shared they look for when you know,
potentially sizing up a partner in this case, potentially considering,
you know, the male partners in their life of who
should I be with, who should I pursue? Maybe this
oor resume with you, maybe you've experienced this as well
(01:02:38):
from many women in my life, I've heard they have
two immedia checkpoints to size up a guy. What's their
sneaker game? Like number one. I mentioned this because it
was shared that Mel Where's frankensteinle like shoes for comfort
reasons and he seemed pretty nervous during the premiere, but
he kind of owned up to maybe not having the
(01:03:00):
most stylish footwear. But many women in my life they
look at the feet, They look at the kicks first,
and the second criteria women check for can a man dance? Now?
Mel had had moments during this episode where he looked
he looked relatively stiff. I don't know if he if
he can, I don't know if he can boogie like.
Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
That, which maybe is a problem from Michigan Gotta.
Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
But within the first ninety seconds of the premiere, he
did issue an apology over b ro footage for his
comments made over the summer on that Michigan football podcast
where he said his unwillingness to end up with a
partner over sixty. I guess he has no choice now.
And he also mentioned during that pod that he doesn't
want anyone fake, so he alluded to he doesn't want
(01:03:46):
a woman who wears wigs, and just some other really
not great comments at all. So in summary, and then
I went past a two day which you think about
about what I've shared. I don't think mel Owens will
be bad enough to make the season must watch, but
I'm not sure he'll be a compelling enough lead either.
(01:04:07):
We shall see again. Episode two is on Wednesday, Brad,
What do you make of these notes?
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
On the one hand, if mel is trying to say
he wants somebody that is.
Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
So confident in themselves that they don't need a wig
or something else because they're you know, they don't dye
their hair because like their hair is going gray.
Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Who cares.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
I respect that part of it. The part I don't
is that that assumes that it's for him and not
for themselves.
Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
To feel better. And that's the part that really bothers me.
When people say stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
It's like, it's not about you, it's about feeling good,
and if that makes you feel good, go do it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Like that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
So this guy, this is the this is the.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Time where I would be like, if I'm one of
these competitors, I'd be like, take it. I don't want it, Like, yeah,
I'm out, I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
And a forgiven. They challenged him when they got out
of the limit. They said, hey, I heard what you
said over the summer. I didn't like it. And he
apologized time and time again. But we'll see if that
was for the premiere, we'll see if that continues for
the rest of the season. It's a weird way to
start out your lead.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Yeah, I wonder, I wonder what their contracts look like
for the women. Are there women those contracts, Like I
agreed to do at least four episodes or something like that,
because yeah, because like if they already signed it and
they're there and they're like, I had a commit to
this piece of garbage, like yeah, so uh And then
some some people are like, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I don't care if they are a piece of garbage.
I like pieces of garbage. Some people are into that.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
I'm there's got to be a better way to cast
these sas.
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
Especially when we're coming to find how do you how
is this it?
Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
When we're coming off.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Of Gary yeahs burgers, Man, you you.
Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
Knew the assignment. The assignment was to find the least
problematic guy you could. And maybe Mel checks a lot
of those boxes on paper, but I'm willing to give
him a shot. I just think from okay, who are
you choosing to follow up the volatile inaugural season of
Golden Badge. I'm surprised they went with this guy. But
(01:06:14):
we'll see, Brad, I don't know what to expect. The
Frankenstein shoes will remain, and we'll see if he can dance. Maybe,
I mean he was a linebacker. You got to use footwork.
Maybe he has rhythm. I just know women in my
life that those are usually two immedia checkpoints. What what's
the footwear looking like and do you got too left
feet or do you got some rhythm?
Speaker 1 (01:06:34):
Yeah? The custom orthot X not not great for dancing.
The custom orthos yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
The the all black slightly lifted custom worthos I'm sure
is comfort. Yeah, Colin of Frankenstein Shoes is really funny
to me, actually, but like, dang, yeah, I get it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
I understand. Still, I understand.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
I used to care a lot about my footwear, and
now I'm like, these under armours are really comfortable. This
is what I'm wearing today. Do I need to change
him up for this out Yes, I do, but I'm
wearing them anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
And you found your person though, let's not forget that
you you had just found each other.
Speaker 1 (01:07:05):
I mean that's fair. I don't have to care as much.
Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
For us single folks.
Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
We go both out here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
You're looking yeah, looking okay, Yeah, don't don't. I gotta
I gotta clean them up. I gotta clean them up.
I gotta make sure they look presentable. I still don't
want to look like an idiot, but also.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
Want that for you either.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
I gotta go up ladders.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
And I'm not wearing the I'm not wearing the nice
toms because I gotta go up a ladder and I
want to slip and die in nice shoes.
Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
They gotta I want to wear the Frankensteins. Tyler, what
do we miss this week?
Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
Two main items that we missed? Number one, w NBA
talk WNBA plays on my list as well. Yep, we
record on Sunday afternoon, So admittedly we're having this conversation
before game four five pm, the Minnesota Links versus Phoenix Burk.
Where you've got the time, stay up on that. Let's go. Okay, so.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
The shirt, but I'm wearing a lot around here, so yeah, you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Have no pri you for that. Cheryl Reeve got ejected
from Game three. I read a report earlier that Nafisa Collier,
Minnesota Star, is out for this game with injury. So
the signs are pointing to Phoenix closing out this series
and advancing to the WNBA finals. I want to assume
(01:08:20):
this will happen. I want to assume we can have
nice things. I'm already thinking about will this be in
the history of the Phoenix Mercury, having won three WNBA
championships previously in two thousand and seven, twenty nine, and
twenty fourteen. Yes, it's been that long, over a decade
since they left with hardware. Could this team be the
best story of all their previous finals appearances? And dare
(01:08:44):
I say finals victories? I already want to think about
where this team could be remembered in the pantheon of
the Mercury, Phoenix's best professional basketball franchise. Let me say
that again. But I don't want to get my hopes up,
but I'm very excited. We'll see if the Aces can
close out the fever. But I am feeling so encouraged
by the Mercury. You called it, Brad back on our
(01:09:06):
WNBA mid season report with the great Desmond pal You
were buying into Phoenix, and I regret that it took
me so long to get on board. But I am
here now and I cannot wait. Do you have any
thoughts before I give you my second way?
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Do we miss?
Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Now?
Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
It feels good being right, but this feels like a trap.
I don't have. I wrote a couple of things that
what do we miss?
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
We already talked about Ricky Starks and the other one
was the Mercury the WNBA playoffs. This is so much
fun to watch. This is one of those games that
scares me. Tyler in the late nineties, early two thousands,
I think it was.
Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
The early two thousands. I want to say it was
my junior year.
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Our basketball team played our rivals school. Okay, it was
Escanaba versus Gladstone, Michigan. Nobody's heard of these places, but
it was Escanaba vsus Gladstone, big, big rivalry game. The
entire starting lineup of the Gladstone basketball team was benched
for a game. They had gotten like suspended because they
(01:10:05):
got in some trouble doing something. I don't remember what
it was, doesn't really matter, but they were on the
bench and our team was not great, but it was
pretty good. It was decent, going to be a blowout, right,
their best players are down. They lost that game, I
believe at the last shot. I'm pretty sure it was
(01:10:26):
a buzzer beater to end it. Gladstone won, Escanaba lost,
and everybody went in their loud confident going like it's
not going to be a big deal because all their
starters are out, and that team showed up because they
were like, no, we're good too, and we're here to
show them that they don't have a chance and that
that respect needs to be put on her name. So
this game scares me because just because one of the
(01:10:49):
best players, arguably the best player in the WNBA at
any given moment, is out against the Mercury doesn't mean
that it's going to end with a dub.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
I hope it does. I hope you're right.
Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
This would absolutely be the best team in their history,
only because it's the best team.
Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
In their history. Who's the most.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Hall of Fame worthy star on their team right now
at the moment, Alyssa Thomas. Would you put Alyssa Thomas
in the same group as Diana Tarassi at the end
of her career, I would if.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Yeah, it feels like it's different levels for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
Where where everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
You could ask people like, hey, do you know who
Diana t Rossi is? And a basketball fan is gonna
be like, yeah, Thomas, I don't, I don't. I don't
know that people are gonna know. So like star power wise,
this there, this is their Pistons team. This is the
team that wasn't supposed to make it all the way here.
This is that team that's working like a unit. You
had cargo off the other night, like this is they're
(01:11:58):
so well rounded, they got players all over the place.
It just feels like a really good team versus a
really good group of stars. They have star power and
they have quality stars, but it's not the same feeling
as like, oh yeah, we got Big, we got Diana,
We're gonna be just fine all the time, where it's like, no, no, no,
this is a this is a team team, and that
(01:12:20):
makes me really excited to see what happens next. I
think they have a real shot at winning this.
Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
I'm so excited.
Speaker 3 (01:12:25):
We shall see. We'll definitely discuss on the next episode
before we do my second way do we miss my
final one. Jesse Williams is the lead in Prime Video's
latest original series, Hotel Costierra. He plays Daniel de Luca,
a former marine who goes to Italy to work at
a hotel. The owner's daughter disappears, and he's tasked with
(01:12:46):
finding her. Williams is also an executive producer. This name
may sound familiar to our audience. Brad Williams is well
known for his role in Gray's Anatomy. He also was
on season three of Only Murders in the Building. I
showed that I know you're very fond of I'm just
excited to see him at this moment in his career
have this role, and especially the executive producer shout very
(01:13:08):
excited for him. I caught the premiere really enjoyable. The
episodes are only about forty forty two minutes, so really digestible.
Six episodes total for this new series and really encourages
Toe Jesse doing his thing.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Yeah, the only thing I have to add as peacemaker.
We were talking before we got on John Cena in
this role, especially this last episode. Last episode was episode
six of season two at debuts our premieres on Thursdays.
We have two episodes left in the season and things
just got really crazy in the show. The show ties
in really well with Superman and kind of ignores a
(01:13:45):
lot of the old DC stuff, but not all of it.
Really curious to see where this ends, how it lands.
But John Cena is a very good actor when he
is given the chance and given the right role.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Enough where.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
James Gunn saw something in him when they were doing
the Suicide Squad that he went this right that episode
is why he wanted to do this show with John,
because he was like, John is so good. I wanted
to work with him as the only reason the show
exists is because of how good Johnsen is to tie
it back into wrestling and how excited he was. He
said episode six and episode eight are maybe the favorite
(01:14:22):
projects he's ever done in anything ever. James Gunn said this,
so I'm really.
Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Excited to see what episode seven is, so I can
see what episode eight is if James is already like, yeah,
episode eight is going to be memorable.
Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
What a cast, What a great cast. Frank Grillo playing
Rick Flagg's senior has been great. Joel Kineman came back
to play Rick Flagg and it's it's been really cool
to watch and it's a great show. So check it
out if you get a chance, but not not with
your kids.
