Speaker 1 (00:39):
Hey guys, it's Jazz and this is giving up the
Ghost Podcast. Welcome back. Sorry for the little brief hiatus.
There so much on the go in springtime. If you
know what I'm saying. Anyway, I hope everybody is well,
keeping safe, being good, seeing ghosts, you know that kind
of stuff. Just prior to tonight's episode, just wanted to
(01:01):
intro it and this is going to be the time
that Sharon myself joined the Winnipeg Paranormal Group and we
were able to go on a ghost investigation at the
Aviation Museum.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So cool, so cool.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
So this might be a three parter because we had
quite a few stories. A lot of editing, Like a
lot of editing goes into this because I'm trying to
listen to see if i can hear anything on the
MIC's getting picked up, if you know what I'm saying, right,
So as well, with tonight's episode, it was the first
time we used our mics, like little lapel mics. So
(01:37):
there's a lot of times when people are talking and
it cuts out because they're not wearing the mic, which
is probably like when the volunteers are talking and stuff.
So I do apologize for that. We are getting better
at that, but at least we don't have to record it,
let's say, like on a laptop. Right, So we had
these lapel mics. They actually recorded quite well. So me
(01:57):
and Share we're wearing those. We talk with people, We shmoozed, people,
told us, you know, some ghost stories, because that's kind
of what we do. So that's tonight's episode. It's going
to be a short one, maybe about fifteen minutes because,
like I said, there's gonna be a few parts to
this and it was such a fun night. Thank you
so much to Ashley and Kelly with the Winnipeg Paranormal Group.
(02:19):
Love love your girls to pieces and they know that.
Speaking of the Winnipeg Paranormal Group. Just in time this
web episode this week.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
What are we now?
Speaker 1 (02:30):
We're May twenty seventh, when this episode comes out May
twenty eighth, we are resurrecting spirits with Spirits. The difference
being is it's going to be May twenty eighth on
the Wednesday. It's actually going to be at drum roll
Please never mind drum Ball. It's going to be at
the King's Head Pub, so very cool place, very honted,
(02:54):
and we're going to do a Spirits of Spirits from
seven to nine. Hopefully you hear this episode and you
and come down if you're in the Winnipeg area, share
some ghost stories, tell us some ghost stories. Yeah, it's
gonna be a really, really uber cool night. So shout
out to the King's Head Pub for giving us a
shot for doing our Spirits with Spirits there.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
This time around.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
So if it works out well and we get a
good crowd, you know, maybe they'll have us back. So
that's what we're hoping for. And of course we would
still love to do Spirits of Spirits in any other
haunted location slash restaurant pub in the city.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
I mean, that's what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
It's about the ghost love, right So anyway, and saying
that please meet us or come on down to Spirits
with Spirits at the King's Head Pub Wednesday, May twenty
eighth from seven to nine pm. And again that's co
hosting with the Winnipeg with the Big the Winnipeg Paranormal Group.
But a little tongue tied, that's what happens when you
(03:50):
don't have liquor. So in saying that, I'll leave it
short for tonight, just wanted to intro tonight's episode. Again,
if you have any stories that you love to share
with us, or or want to just you know, talk
to us and stuff. You know, we're cool, please email
us at giving Up the Ghost podcast at gmail dot
com and remember to live every day like it is
(04:12):
your last, but never give up the Ghost out for now?
Are you guys recording?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Are you going to walk around? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I got this going. Thanks already recording. I gotta push
the button on.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Where did you get?
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Can you send me a link for this?
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Sure? It was just I like it too. I wanted
the fuzzy one with the wind socket because when we
go outside, I have one of those here.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Okay, yeah, but.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I couldn't find the wind socket ones. Well, yeah, he
picked you up.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Okay, squeeze, there.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
We go the Now I'm going to put the alarm on,
so then that way we have oh boo zoo.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
That is uh so too jadwe I won't do it, well,
just keep I was gonna set the alarm.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
For twenty minutes. Yeah, but okay, I'll sort of keep
an eye on.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Yeah, but I think twenty minutes to be I can't
believe what big that plane is, and it's looks such
a weird construction to it because it looks like it's
an old Uh what do you wanna call it? Those
grain grain barrels? Oh yeah, right, that's the same kind of.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Weird weird, I know, weird ribbing.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Yeah, rib.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
I wasn't about to say that.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (05:59):
We're going to start off by So my name is Ashley.
Speaker 6 (06:03):
I'm one of the investigators tonight, Ellie, then Melanie play
and I leave.
Speaker 7 (06:11):
And the volunteers who are so wonderful.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
And Jerry, and then we have Michelle from the aviation
staff here tonight.
Speaker 7 (06:21):
As well, and special guests thank you.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
We have Jazz and Share from Giving Up the Ghost

To be sure a happy birthday.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
Birthday.
Speaker 6 (06:59):
Thanks, thank you for telling me up on your birthday.
Speaker 9 (07:04):
Holy Man.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
For this awesome So Sean, I'm going to pass it
off to you to do some general.
Speaker 7 (07:12):
Rules and Greek history.
Speaker 10 (07:15):
I will welcome to the Royal Aviation History of Western Canada.
We are situated on Treaty one lands, which means that
we are guests on the homelands of the Abbe Decree,
the oj Creed the Dakota both as.
Speaker 7 (07:28):
Well as the homeland of the Red River may Teeth.
And as a museum, we do like.
Speaker 10 (07:32):
To also acknowledge that our drinking water comes Social forty,
which is on.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
Treaty three territory.
Speaker 10 (07:38):
This museum was founded fifty years ago in nineteen seventy four,
the big year for us, and it was founded by
five aviation enthusiasts whose goal was to preserve Canadian aviation
history and pay tribute to the many contributions that Western.
Speaker 6 (07:52):
Canadians and are made.
Speaker 10 (07:55):
You've been situated in at least three that I know
of locations within this One of them was downtown on
Lily Street, one was just over off a Ferry Road
in an old hanger. And this is our Twist facility
right here. I know for myself as well as some
of our other staff and volunteers. In both this location
and in the one on the hangar, there have been
(08:17):
a variety of paranormal experiences.
Speaker 7 (08:20):
So hopefully you'll get to experience some of those tonight.
Speaker 10 (08:24):
Keep yourself and our artifacts safe tonight, because, like she said,
we just asked that if there's gray barriers around any
of the planes, please don't step over them. And if
you have to leave the building other than in an emergency,
please or because that will.
Speaker 7 (08:39):
Be monitored by the security guard.
Speaker 10 (08:40):
The rest of the doors are locked and you won't
be able to get back in. Also, please don't touch
any of the artifacts except for the ones that are
on the back touch well, those are fine to play
around with if you do need to use the washroom
at any point, or if you need a drink of water.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
There's two locations on the main floor.
Speaker 10 (08:57):
One is just going to be down the hallway from
the admissions desk, and the other is just I guess
earl who's over there in the back corner behind the back.
Speaker 7 (09:06):
Set is there.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
Dis you very much. So we do have some paranormal
rules that we might go over with you guys right
before we break off into groups and start with So
the first one, it sounds very simple, but it's actually
one of the harder rules that we have tonight, as
you guys not to whisper as when we are recording,
(09:31):
if you're whispering, it can sound like an entity coming across.
Speaker 7 (09:36):
So we want you guys to.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Have fun, laugh, enjoy your evening talk with your friends.
Second one we need to do today is make sure
that you guys are paying attention to how you feel,
so you yourself. Your body is one of the greatest
tools that you have on hand.
Speaker 7 (09:54):
So please make sure.
Speaker 6 (09:55):
That if you guys are feeling ill, if you're nus dizzy,
quick change and mood. Let your investigators know and will
help you either by removing you for a few minutes.
You guys come down and relax or whatever you guys need.
(10:16):
We do not antagonize out there where Uh give us
figures to go out there and push buttons.
Speaker 8 (10:24):
And try to make whatever they're mad.
Speaker 7 (10:26):
And don't do that.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
We go on far as patients with love and respect
anything there because our family. Remember, we get to go
home at the end of the night. Lovely volunteers, Michelle,
they have to come back and do their jobs, so
we don't want anything to them. Encourage you guys to
(10:52):
take pictures and videos. Nobody has fine or nobody has
asked to not be.
Speaker 7 (10:58):
A pictures of videos tonight. To please on your investigations
so crazy.
Speaker 6 (11:02):
And we ask you afterwards and that's your video, send
us your pictures. Uh. If you guys brought your phones.
He asked that you either turn them off or put
them on airplane mode. H some of your phones will
affect our So with us wanting to give you its
(11:25):
most as we can.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
Before we investigate.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
Tonight, we're going to go through how to protect.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
Yourself, and then at the end of the night.
Speaker 7 (11:38):
We're also going to offer as.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
All of us is, for protection if you guys are
going to experience anythings. This doesn't stop it from happening.
It just stops the energy from connecting.
Speaker 9 (11:56):
Don't want that?
Speaker 6 (11:58):
Does anybody have any questions before? Where walking through a
white light?
Speaker 9 (12:03):
All right?
Speaker 6 (12:04):
So what I'm gonna get you guys to do close
your eyes a slow ruts and uh it's warm, Bully
goes over your head, drops around your body, russ again
(12:26):
at any point tonight if you're feeling over. So I'm
going to put you guys into your groups with your polities.
Speaker 7 (12:36):
With them m.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Ooo spooky, shutting the lights. Hey, yeah, that's this is cool,
that's crazy. Then take some pictures in the dark see
if anything transpires literally mm hmmm, probably I take my
flock lush off right, Oh, I guess I could take
a book, my phone out.
Speaker 11 (13:06):
All of them Oh, the aircraft have all been restored extensively.
Speaker 9 (13:12):
Uh not. Many of them have particularly colorful.
Speaker 11 (13:14):
Stories, except that the exception of the one were very
back and it's called the Blanca air Cruiser and it
was used. It was used by a Canadian outfit called
Eldorado Radium and whatever it was at the time, and
their their their job was to to mind something called
petch blend in the Northwest territories.
Speaker 9 (13:34):
So it was a mineral that's.
Speaker 11 (13:35):
Brought back and it was refined at the time primarily
for its radium.
Speaker 9 (13:39):
Radium was extensively.
Speaker 11 (13:40):
Used for cancer treatment medicines in the ninety poet also
for clock dials and instrument dials and aircraft, so it
was pretty pretty valuable moderity. One of the other compounds
that comes out of the refinement of radium, this is uranium,
right that were you refined patch blend and the waste
was originally just a waste white poduc but during the
Manhattan Program, the the uranium that was extracted from the
(14:05):
mines in the Nerthless territories was was refined in Port
Hope and Ontario and shipped down to Los Alamos and
used for the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima Nagasaki. Now,
the then eight people who worked at these mines had
no idea what they what this, that this was going on.
They knew that they they just practice, you know, dug
it up, packed it up, put it on.
Speaker 9 (14:26):
The aircraft kept going.
Speaker 11 (14:27):
And they didn't realize that until sometime in the I've
got a ballpark and I'm probably wrong, but it's in
the eighties or nineties when they found out what the
what the actual output of this mine was and what
it was used for. And they sent a delegation to
UH to both Hiroshima and Nagasaki to apologize on behalf
of their people for the participation in the in the project,
an unknowing participation, but on they.
Speaker 9 (14:50):
Felt for they felt that they needed to apologize for that.
Speaker 11 (14:54):
Social was a darker side of I guess people in
aviation in general.
Speaker 9 (14:59):
Uh, you know their zone and that's that's one. Yeah,
the aircraft is behind you.
Speaker 11 (15:07):
Uh, that's Vickers light then, so that was the just
extensively they were all over the place in the fifties
and in the sixties. Apparently it's this one had to
divert and land had an emergency landing.
Speaker 9 (15:19):
It was fund the bay because the gentleman's died. All.
Speaker 11 (15:23):
That's really all I know about about that tragedy. You know,
there's a number of other events that took place. I
mean that uh it was destroyed and was rebuilt for
three aircraft. If la if lank dormant like many did
back then, rex were just left wrecked on the side
of old runways and uh they were left there from
Jordan U.
Speaker 9 (15:43):
In two thousand and four and five.
Speaker 11 (15:45):
And for other aircraft that's got one of them just received.
You just got a rather teutonic look to it. It
looks like the you got a flashlight, you can maybe
shine it on the on the on the the front.
Speaker 9 (15:58):
Edge of the but we us got that in here
and it was restored in Germany. Find the corner. There's a.
Speaker 11 (16:06):
An article an article about the crash on on on
Lindwood Street, if you guys are familiar with this. But
at the end of Lindwood where Lindwood, you guys know
where Lindwood is, Okay, Airport really a live across from
the street. Really so at the top of Elmwood where
(16:28):
almost meets Silver Avenue, lind would rather In seventy two,
an airplane that was leaving the airport returning kids to
from from the residential school in ports the prairie crashed
fresh there's and the pilot and a students side. So
we don't have the the aircraft there was. It was
completely but we do have a memorial here and there's uh,
(16:51):
there's one. There's one just recently been put up at
the end of the run, at the end of the
at the intersection.
Speaker 9 (16:56):
Of two streets.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
And what year did you say?
Speaker 6 (16:58):
That was.
Speaker 9 (17:02):
Interesting?
Speaker 11 (17:03):
And uh, from the historical point of view when it
comes to things that have happened, I don't really have
a lot more detail.
Speaker 9 (17:13):
That's what I've thought. I mean, technically I can talk
to you guys about hours, but I can do that,
but I guess so. But on my you know, if
you've got any questions, but any of.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
The aircraft, you know, we appreciate it, thank you.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
So do we want to talk about the equipment? Sure?
Speaker 1 (17:33):
I love people through a radium. Guys got all the
coolest toys.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
Remember the ladies that used to make those faces on
those clocks. We used to tell them they have to
make sharpen their paint brush with their mouth to get
a really fine point they were sucking on the radium.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
That's right. They all die.
Speaker 7 (17:51):
There aggravations. So does everybody know what?
Speaker 6 (17:57):
So this is the opposite.
Speaker 7 (17:58):
It overloads yeah, right, red blinking lights.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
And there's also we connect to it, so you also
get a really annoying you haven't watched any of those
shoes or.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Where's my lights? Where's my favorite? Where's my lights?
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (18:25):
It's my favorite. Yeah. That's called a.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
TriPlan and it works very similar to okay too. It
does use them, but it also uses touch. H that's
these nice pretty lights.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
Like a check grab one of it. So we spread
this out over doorway.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
We can go up and around.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
We can use it to circle something.
Speaker 6 (18:58):
We've used it like we deboard in the middle and
circled us around there. And basically what you're looking for
is those lights going off. So it takes some pressure.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Yeah, it takes a lot to make them go off.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
If I just touch it.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Cool.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
So we can use this tonight as well.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
I've seen this go off. I've seen them put this
on a staircase. I can't say where they put it
on a staircase. Kelly was one end, as shoe was
at the bottom, and they'd ask it a question and
you just we can't okay, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Okay, we also have simple things, but we have all here.
So they are put down on the table. It stops
splashing the floor or wherever you want to use it,
and then you're watching for the light. So we've used
these on an investigation outside.
Speaker 8 (19:57):
And the house had.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
Had I knew that there was a murder in the
house and put the balls in the room had count
and the balls were going off all night.
Speaker 7 (20:13):
None of us were in there. We set up a
video camera to watch these go on.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
It's really cool.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (20:23):
Yeah, We've had it on a lot of our public
investigations and experience that.
Speaker 7 (20:31):
So yeah, I mean that things aren't my favorite because
we take.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
A long.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
Familiar using them. I love pendulums.
Speaker 7 (20:41):
That's why I make them.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
And I sell them. So feel free come on up
to the table and let's scratch the equipment and see
what we can find tonight.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Yeah, okay, let's find some spooky I have.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
I was right for you after m like off the
aendulin aendulum and things like that about witchery.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Okay, mm hmm, that's cool, sure like right now, Yeah,
so doesn't have anything to do with what we're doing
now now.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
But you're too okay, sure, yes, anyway, yes peace.
Speaker 9 (21:24):
Was it a Christmas time?
Speaker 2 (21:25):
It was Christmas time last year. We're sitting around the table.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
My aunt was talking about all time stuff like from
when they were very small and had been here because
they lived like near a river and she was always
afraid of the water, afraid of dogs and stuff like that.
She remembers going to her old battle's place.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
She said she did a thing. Oh, she had.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Wax poured over her head, not on her head herself,
but you have to pull the bowl on your head,
goes around and you pour wax, and the bowl and
the wax like the shape of the thing that you're
afraid of. Okay, google the ship. Yeah it really is.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
And you know what, who does it?
Speaker 4 (22:03):
All Weekan settlers when they came here in Pagans interesting,
very cool and there is a laity that you always
want to in.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Challenge was like the old granny, the old Baba, they
called her. Gotcha. Yeah, isn't that neat? That is so cool?
Speaker 4 (22:17):
She remembers that she remembers doing that when she was
really little here in Canada.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah that's cool.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Yeah, I thought that was really neat. So I got
a story from something or other.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Yeah, that was really good, pretty cool. Yes, how long
have you volunteered here? And what was your interest? Just playing?
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Well?
Speaker 9 (22:41):
But I spent a little over four years in.
Speaker 11 (22:46):
When I when I moved to Winnipeg. This place is
just opening something to do.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I mean it's not winter yay Mormon here this place
And that's thoughts of my stuff.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Have you ever felt or seen anything in here? No?
Speaker 9 (23:03):
I haven't, But I've heard that. Have you know? I've
heard about there's a story about the loading dogs should
be talking about imagine you.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Guys, okay story for you? No, no, No, that's like
I'm recording on a MICROSF.
Speaker 9 (23:21):
Okay, A few other people have seen that appear personally,
haven't I.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Heard? I heard the one where somebody was about to
open and then there was like a man in uniform
that that was that?
Speaker 9 (23:37):
Was that? That? The one with the wing?
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Okay, yeah, the one of yeah, and he was admiring
the plane or whatever and some I struck up a conversations.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
So no, I didn't really weird we that love that stuff.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Yeah, well, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
What, I like these plans because reminds me of when
I used to that's fine. Yeah, scary as hell, especially
during lightning storms and stuff. We never crashed, so that
was good.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
That's always a good one. So somebody died in this
one here.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
This is seems like about the right size when I
went to, uh, what is.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
This one called.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
This is called the Vicar Viscount.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Hmm.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Interesting, I'm going to take a picture of that. It's
like we're in a field trip. It's a new one,
built in nineteen fifty five. Take a picture of this one.
This is the Viscount Vickers by Beaver Enterprises.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Okay, that makes sense because you know when we used
to take plans up north, right, Well, there were sessions
we always took all the time, but every once in
a while we'd get on one that we called it
a beaver all the time and yeah, beaver plans. Yeah, yeah,
that's what we used to take up north. But we
landed on the water though. Put thetoons.
Speaker 11 (24:52):
Yeah, it was difficult that most of the aircraft people
from wheels to skis too well ontoons.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Because we lived at little little grand rap friends, it
was always fun.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Made for a nice little learning ye o.
Speaker 11 (25:09):
Uh, this one's a model, right, the engines were a
little bit more and this is set up passenger.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
He was not Yeah, I was gonna say fuel.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
Yeah they found did they find? Yeah, found the wreckage
or something? Yeah under yeah pretty much.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yeah. She call polynesia somewhere or something.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Yeah yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
So this this place, is this the one where somebody
died and somebody.
Speaker 11 (25:43):
Yeah, I don't know the whole story. You know, somebody
can give you that. It was either thunder Bay or Gander.
They didn't really have to have you.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yeah, yeah, you better.
Speaker 9 (25:52):
I wasn't paying attention.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
I don't want to know youre right? And yeah, oh
that guys.
Speaker 12 (25:59):
You and everybody right, yeah, yeah, we'll go check it out.
Check out your gadget.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
