to Dale, flashes all for rebelling. He throws a shovelful
of flaming radium out of guard. The captain of the
Guard reaches for the switch which will electrocute Flash.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
By passing the current through a wire fastened to his

You hear what the captain said. If you start any.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
More trouble, he will electrocute you.
Speaker 9 (11:09):
When I give you a signal, jump up and throw
your shovel into that radium being over there.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
And get myself killed for it.
Speaker 9 (11:16):

The Mighty kings staggers back and following like a mad bull,
sinks the steel, sing your fingers into flash of throlle.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
His left hand reaches for his dagger.
Speaker 9 (12:48):
Look out for your dagger.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
A smashing left and a crushing right hand uppercut and

And dark Off and soon dark Off and Baron are
working on some scientific gadget.
Speaker 3 (13:18):

Did you kill Wuldon? A right? I don't know. There's
no time to waste finding out. Which way do we
go from here?
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Look, soldiers coming this way, turn to the right, tail
down that other passenger. No, so just splash with back
to Bolton's Quartersdale. We can bother the door or hold
them up while we arrange to escape by the window. There,
we're back in Bolton's quarters and we've escaped the soldiers.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
No, why you?
Speaker 7 (13:55):
They have this resulted on you the slightest movement.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
All I save you?
Speaker 7 (14:26):

amid the shouts of the disorganized guards, flash and they'll
break away, But the Mighty King flies into the air
and hurry himself on flash, drags into the floor and
prepares to execute him by his own hands. Meanwhile, doctor
Zarkoff and Prince Baron are rushing towards the throne room.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
It didn't do.
Speaker 8 (16:35):
Barron, we did fund dark Off. I only hope that
well headed monarch hasn't delayed us too long with it,
Arguing there isn't much time left to save the city.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Blood or red.
Speaker 8 (23:44):
My lady, you'll flow in the arena just as freely
or your amusement.
Speaker 11 (23:49):
Yes, where the scarce as they toil can, but do
not stain it with your blood.
Speaker 8 (23:57):
Fair lady, A kiss from your gorgeous lip. I would
face the legions.
Speaker 6 (24:02):
A towel insolent one.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
I'll have you tortures who.
Speaker 8 (24:09):
Can punish the living dead of the tournament. Goodbye, you,
beautiful devil.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
I go to fight for your hand.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
That's mass Champion, I swear I know his voice. The
callers sounded. I must go back to the fight. Goodbye, Dale, goodbye,
and good luck, my darling. Oh when will this also
turn the end?
Speaker 7 (24:34):
I know it seems horrible to you, little bird, but it.
Speaker 3 (24:38):
Is better that flesh should die honorably.
Speaker 10 (24:40):
In the field of battle than at the hands of
Ming's torturers.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
If he wins this final event, he will be.
Speaker 7 (24:47):
A king and you will be his queen.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
The trompets blow on the last contestants lineup. Two by two,
they mount the sky rope stretched over a flat pool
to joust with.
Speaker 9 (25:01):
Swords, and one after.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Another they are eliminated by death. Finally, only Flash Gordon
and the mass Champion are left. Flash loses his balance
and falls down toward the flaming pool, but his hands
catch hold of the rope and he hangs on. The
mass Champion, thrown off balance, also falls but saves himself
by grasping Flash Gordon's leg. His mask falls off, revealing
Prince Baron. The crowd demands that both men shall live,
(25:24):
and they are brought before Volt and might Ming the Merciless.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
None of your trickery mings will claim them.
Speaker 13 (25:32):
Both kings sall be it, But I shall choose their
kingdom to Prince barn and my daughter are As. I
give the kingdom of the Forest to Flashbarbon and the
Usk girl. I give the kingdom of the king.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
You mean, you know naither kingdom has been conquered.
Speaker 13 (25:56):
Too, Baltan, But these are brave men. Let them try.
They can hold our weddings in their own kingdoms. Then
lives that long.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Welcome back.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Some exciting stuff in this episode, although I will say
that we do get into some padding in these particular installments,
and probably the biggest padding certainly in comic stramps but
in other serial fiction as well, is the hero escaping
and being recaptured, which we probably heard a few too
(28:06):
many times. I will also say that Prince Baron kind
of walks that fine line between space opera and soap
opera with his attempts to woo Princess Aura. I kind
of feel like Prince Baron will regret this match, but
who knows. Maybe seeking out a sadistic woman who's defining
(28:27):
thing as her attraction to someone else.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Well I've worked out for him.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
There were some really exciting scenes. I wish that some
of it were not exposited over, but I think that
they had an idea of the limits of how long
they wanted the series to go, how many stories that
they wanted to tell and adapt and bring to radio,
(28:51):
and where they wanted to end. So they've got that
twenty six episode time frame in mind, and so you
can't show everything in detail.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
I think that.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Even though Ming isn't in this for most of it,
he does show his strength as the villain. Now, this
is a fantasy world filled with desks spots, but a
lot of them have been easily overcome by Flash Gordon.
But Ming shows some cunning and flexibility which is going
(29:27):
to make him a tough adversary one reason he accepted
the Tournament of Death is that really he won either way.
If Flash lost, that'd be great. He would have a
horrible public death, and if you're ming the Merciless, all
the other people you get to see die horribly are
(29:49):
just a bonus. If Flash won, well he probably already
had this cave kingdom thing in mind. And again he
sets himself up with a win win. He can use
Flash and Baron to conquer these two unconquered kingdoms. If
they lose, then again he gets rid of his enemies.
(30:10):
If they win, then they'll have these two newly conquered
kingdoms for him to menace and have authority over, and
you'll figure out another plan to get rid of his enemies.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
So he's evil, but.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
He's cunning and we'll have to see how Flash deals
with that next week. All right, Well, now it's time
