Speaker 5 (17:41):
By my sword, I swear king Flash as bewitched. He

and glassy look?

Speaker 6 (17:54):

Opaque and impenetrable wall before the rocket ship. The Hawkmen
try to maneuver above them, but they rise at the
same speed. Then the Hawkmen try to fly below them,
but they drop like lightning and present their solid barrier,
wheeling the fleet around. Zarkoff signals for the dissolvo guns
mounted on the nose of each rocket ship to start firing.

(19:30):
Shot after shot is fired at the white billows until
the path of the Hawkmen has been cleared. Then Zarkoff
signals for doubles feet.

Sist, my beautiful Azera. The armor is but a symbol
of your self. Even if it were made of the
most precious and rare metals to be obtained and studded
with jewels, my loyalty to you and your cause could
not be greater.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
You do love me, don't you.

Speaker 11 (20:09):
Fly.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
I know of no one in the past, present, or

for that pretty Then.

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Let me kiss your hands here, my prince, fair hands,
so delicate, so shapely. How many men have lost their

I should be willing to risk everything to win you
for myself.

Speaker 6 (20:54):

Flash, I must give some orders to the s, and
you out into the garden and wait for me.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
I will join you presently.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
The slightest wish of the command, my beautiful.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
One, Lash slash.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Eh, who's calling me?

Speaker 6 (21:13):
It's deal? Deal, arve me?

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Oh there you are, I see you now. They're in
that grilled window. What are you doing there, girl?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
I'm a prisoner here, Flash. Ever since I got that
tray of food.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Oh yes, I wondered where I've seen you. You you tripped,
and the Zorra ordered you punished.

Speaker 13 (21:30):
He has had me chained to the galley stove. My
chain just reaches to this window.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Are you all right?

Speaker 6 (21:37):
Flash?

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Am I all right? Of course I am? Why shouldn't
I be? Did you think a Zora had punished me
for something too?

Speaker 9 (21:44):
No?

Speaker 4 (21:45):
I just wanted to know how you are.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Well, that's very kind of you, girl. And since you've
taken such an interest in my welfare, I'll take an
interest in yours. How can you too young and pretty
to be made a prisoner in the kitchen. I'll ask
Azora to free you?

Speaker 4 (21:58):
Oh no, you mustn't.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Mustn't, Who says so? I shall ask his order at one.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Who bless you love them?

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Alanon roll the rocket ships of the Hawkman into the
yawning mouth of Kira, through the caverns of the cliff dwellers,
through the caves of living man eating plants, and finally
they come into the enormous transparent cave where the handfuls
of survivors whom can squadrons are waiting. The fleet lands
and Prince Zakov is the first to get out the
lieutenant who call for aid on the Spacephone comes up

(22:38):
to him.

Speaker 12 (22:39):
Well, what is the latest news, Lieutenant.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
We were afraid something had happened to you, Prince Zakof.

Speaker 12 (22:45):
We were delayed in a skirmish with the cloud men.
What is deletedt ree pot on the fate of my friends.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
We don't know what happened to them.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
After the Blue Magic Men captured King Flash and Princess
Dale and our captain, they blasted the sunnel leading to
their land, killing most of our men.

Speaker 12 (23:00):
Is there any chance that Flash and his companions are
still alive?

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Who knows?

Speaker 3 (23:04):
That's the land of magic.

Speaker 12 (23:05):
I have brought a battery of bray cannons with us.
We will blush our way to my friends, all aware
they're impending dangerous. Zora and talk confer in the powers
of the Blue Magic Man.

Speaker 6 (23:22):
You understand tall.

Speaker 9 (23:24):
Or perfectly, In your majesty.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
There is nothing too good in my whole kingdom.

Speaker 9 (23:30):
For my new prince is every way shall be obeyed,
Old Queen, its slightest, twim fullfilled.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
I do not know what I shall do with his companions.
They are problems.

Speaker 11 (23:42):
I do not want them around, and yet I cannot
execute them. If Delythium should wear off and Flash discovered
what I had done. Flash, I told him I would
only be a minute. The dear boy is so mad
about me he cannot bear to have me out of his.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
Open a door.

Speaker 9 (24:02):
All at once.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
Show Queen, here, I am, Flash.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
Oh, I beg your pardoner. I know you were still busy.

Speaker 9 (24:11):
Oh, come quickly, I am summoned your majesty. Have I
your permission?

Speaker 6 (24:17):
Yes?

Speaker 9 (24:17):
Tall go okay, your majesty?

Speaker 6 (24:23):
Well? Flash, will you lonely without me? Is that why
you came calling for me?

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Azora? You're good and kind.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
This sounds like a man who has a favorite to us.
I have my queen ask it shall be granted.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
Thank you, Azora. I knew you were kind of good.
She will be so grateful.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
Gee.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Who the girl who tripped while serving us food the
other night?

Speaker 6 (24:46):
Was the favor you asked for her?

Speaker 7 (24:48):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (24:48):
She called to me from a window the kitchens and
told me she was chained to the galley stove. Well,
I promised to ask you to free her, and you
have wait.

Speaker 11 (24:57):
I thought the favor was for yourself, Flash, not one
of my prisoner.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
Nothing I need for myself as eh. And the girl
is too young and too pretty to deserve such a fate.
I thought you just some kind. Do not cause me
to change my mind.

Speaker 11 (25:10):
You make it hard for me, Smash, I've never freed
a prisoner in my life.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Your what does this unteremony sentence me? Chall I did
not send for you.

Speaker 7 (25:22):
I only crave your.

Speaker 9 (25:23):
Pardon, your majesty, and I have news of the most
extreme urgency. Speak then I landed being invaded by the Hawkman.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
Hawkmen, we must go forth to wars. The army must
be caught out. I will press the signal.

Speaker 9 (25:49):
And always to lead your men into battle.

Speaker 6 (25:52):
All clean of course, and as to point someone to
head the army, will you lead our men into that all?
Flash your magic.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Serving as your commander in chief would be a pleasure.

Speaker 9 (26:03):
My queen, hermantesy, what's this stranger over me?

Speaker 6 (26:12):
Let her beware.

Speaker 2 (26:19):

don't forget to listen again next week at the same

(27:03):
Flash Gordon.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Welcome back. Well, the story got off at a super
fast paced I mean Flash was fighting people and signing
up allies and venturing further into the Kingdom of Caves
in the first three minutes that you thought the whole
conquest would go pretty quickly, but the Blue Magic Man
slowed things down. They're not too much and we get

(28:06):
a lot of great stuff going on. I like the
mind control wasn't a situation where Flash's entire personality was changed,
which is often how it's portrayed in different media, but
rather his memory and perception were altered, but his core
personality goodness, bravery, and loyalty still remain and kind of

(28:29):
great some problems for Azora, but now mind controlled Flash
is set to take on his actual allies, and we've
got palace intrigues in Azua's court, So all really good
stuff for next week's show. I will admit the space
weapons sound effects were a bit jarring. We have to
keep in mind that the sound of space weapons hadn't

(28:52):
been developed, so we get some early attempts of what
that sounded like on radio. You just kind of have
to bear with that. Also, kind of a weird decision
to put Zarkov in military command of anything. He's a
scientist and to be honest, not necessarily the most stable
person we've met, but it does simplify the plot a bit,

(29:13):
and Volton trust him, so that has to be good
enough for us. All right, Well, listener comments and feedback now,
and we go over to the Great Detectives dot netwebsite
and Emmitt writes, it was an absolute joy to hear
this the very beginning of what was to be a

(29:33):
world famous, highly lucrative franchise. It's not often we get
to hear the origins of a legend, but that's what
this is for sure. While I was listening, I thought
about how new radio was at the time Flash Gordon appeared,
just ten to fifteen years old. It was that's like

(29:53):
some major ground break breaking technology having emerged in twenty
fifteen or so, things that sound cliche to us. We're
brand new to listeners. Then this is like opening a
time capsule and seeing what's inside. Thanks for starting off
with this new series. Well, thanks so much, EMT. And

(30:13):
now it's time to thank our Patreon supporter of the day,
