presents the world's greatest international secret agent, mister Ia Moso, the popular Japanese
character created by Puliter Prize winner JohnT. Markwan across the world from Japan
the Jersey, from Cape Horn tomoment, Mister Moto is fighting the evil
of communism quietly, ruthlessly, courageously. The Night Story Project seventy seven starrying
(02:09):
Mister Motor Mister I A Moto CommanderFree. It is so simple. The
drawing board is here, pencils, rulers, a few lines, and I
will unchange you at once. Theanswer is no. Oh, let's us
(02:34):
pray that your stubbornness maybe fraud newColossal thinking him a critical journey. No
profanity, Commander, Please remember Iam a minister of the gospel, because
they I'll get you for this.Someday I'll beat that. Thank cimonious saving
yoursn't turn on the sun lamp again. You could tell us thank you,
(02:55):
my dear listen, commander, youlook like a holiday in Miami, so
terrible sunburns Katawa cool the commander witha little more for haven't say from under
three ear. If necessary, Iwill keep you under that sun lamp until
your flesh can be flexed off andfed to the mountain birds. I always
(03:16):
get what I want, O youalways, and I want Projects seventy seven.
(03:36):
The assignment on Project seventy seven begantwo feet in front of a jet
motor frying faster than suns the law. The jet never reached our ears as
we streactly crossed the blue certificate thirtyfive thousand feet. I was mean sent
for Tari, Japan, the landof my honored photo a Otoro rushed up
to meets, looking white and serene. Beside the sparkling siegean I could see
(04:00):
two hundred miles away across the Tatastreets, the gloomy coast of Russia.
I help orders to report to CaptainThomas Stanni the offer in charge of the
United States Labal Experimental Stations at As. The station consisted of two United States
(04:26):
Destroyer of course d with doc atthe end of which miss only sixth grade
anti cut. Captain Stanny nother Santentwas in his office. In her case,
Randers Free did that loggerboard the nightbefore last, and he has nothing
saintin No. He is entirely incharge of budget seventy seven year and anywhere
(04:47):
else. Didn't you know that?Yes, because I wondered if you did,
when will you like to see RandaFree? And I took the shelter
and out nine days ago to win. Amanda Freer wished to test seventy seven
of the Sascora Trent, the TuscaroraTrench. It's an onspiring sea, Mistermoto.
There's a canyon on the floor ofthe sea just east of Japan.
Our sounding apparatus indicated depths of overfive thousand fathoms five thousand, there's almost
(05:12):
six miles there go on, evenif it's enormous depth, even straight down
through six miles of water, seventyseven caused explosions at the bottom of the
tuch Aurora, and the tests havebeen successful. Beyond our wildest dream real.
Yes, even underwater seventy seven traveledin extens of two hundred miles an
hour. It isn't a torpedo. It's an underwater pullet. Small guest propels
(05:35):
with an atomic warhead. It willend submarine warfare. No submersible in the
world can elude a guided missile travelingat that speed. Captain Stanley, are
you aware that certain details of Protectseventy seven are already in the hands of
foreign agents? Which, Tomoto, you're joking? No, it's absolutely top
secret. In January, an associatedSamanda Pears named Lowell disappeared in Paris.
(05:57):
He had one of the anastrophic crystalswith him. Yes, yes, I
believe Commander's Frear is the missing link. Jet To tells underwater missiles are in
the arsenals of every mission in theworld. The big obstacle hitting a missile
on its costs. Underwater at thehigh speeds, he is hurtled by the
unstocked crystal. Diagrams of the crystaland the exact wavelength figure exist only in
(06:23):
two places, Washington and Commander Frere'shead. Then he is the only man
in the Aureate who can exactly allthat the potential enemy needs to know is
the figure one followed by a decimalpoint and five unknown digits. This figure,
just as drawing of the crystal equalsseventy seven, so that its commander's
fear was forced to talk the projectto become the property of whomever he talked
(06:46):
to order. What can we do, Commander Frear is my responsibility? Who
sign last? The officer of thedeck storm leave his laboratory and hutty It's
six forty five and night before last. Yes, it was the commander's habit
to take a walk right A's todinner every evening, ah where Sir blossoming
Shalamar along the Tishima road. Weused to send a man along with him,
and he insisted he could take careof himself. A missionary named Kisdale
(07:08):
saw on past it's the Reverend JamesTisdale, a productant missionary. It's a
nice guy, not stuff he oranything like that. He has a mission
up in the hills, married anative woman, and he saw command of
fair row past the mission about sevento fifteen up to the hills freer ways
and said, good evening. Hehasn't been seen since then. I will
begin with a man who saw commandof fear. Last, I shall invite
(07:29):
myself to tea as a mission ofthe veterans. James Tiddey just the motive.
(07:49):
It is so refreshing to meet someonefrom the outside world. Thank you.
I get lonely for informed conversations.Oh MOUTI thank you devicious A Katawa
cheap please, mister Moto. Mywife is a Niner woman. She believes
that the wife is a slave whoseonly duty is to serve her husband.
She sings to her native customs andrefuses to behave as my equal. She
(08:13):
is Christian. No, I amleaving her conversion in the hands of the
Almighty. I bring the tea mastersyou and more little cakes too. How
thoughtful, I will say, misterMurdo thing you should be honored, mister
Moto. That is the first timeshe's ever done that. That, mister
(08:35):
motive is Japanese on America. Thankyou very much the tea Kate, our
surpassing delicacy. Thank you, itis my honor. Tea. No,
thank you, dear. That's all. Yes, you see what I mean.
(09:01):
Sometimes I think all the mystery ofthe Orient is hidden in those beautiful
jettis, and their hands so languid, so elegant, the breeding of uncounst
centry. Yes, and now rereented. Oh yes, about Commander Fear,
I am very upset. The nativeshere, as you may know, are
isles. Yes, I do know. They once occupied the whole of Japans.
(09:22):
There are only some twelve thousand ofthem left now. Their situation is
not unlike that of the American Indianat home. But basically they are honest,
and I believe that because of thisI can help you. And may
I ask how the Isrols will talkto me where they would say nothing to
an outsider. The country around hereis wild and primitive, mostly hill name
hunters. Many of them are abandoned. Now. I suspect that a band
(09:46):
of them somewhere in the hills havekidnapped Commander Fear and are holding him for
ransom. I will ask about itat Prayer meeting. Tone you have a
large pace, no, only fourhundred converts in three years. But those
who haven't braced Christianity are fervent andsincere. If Commander Prayer is anywhere in
the district, someone in the congregationwill come to me and tell me.
(10:07):
And when they do, you willcontact me at the station, please or
at once, mister Motor immediately. You have been very very kind, and
this has been very very pertant.Command of Freyer's disappearance is more urgent than
it appears on the surface. Iwill try to help in my humble way.
Then I shall leave you now andthank you again. It has been
my pleasure, believe me. Goodbye, Reverence is sale, good bye?
(10:35):
Shot off down seller quickly and bringthe straw and the needles. We have
wasted enough time on command of Fael. Now really, Commander Prayer, this
has gone too far. It painsme deeply. You could be sold by
(10:56):
the pound as broad beef. Nowwill you do as I asked? Chottoo
can have my enormous sucidity. Icould not advance blay my country hands upon
the straw underneath. Commander Prayer isunconscious a little vinegar will revive him quickly.
Choto, Yes, well he's aOh now, Commander Payer, can
(11:24):
you understand? Can you hear me? I won't do it except for the
method of keeping the missile on course. We have everything I want, the
wavelength that excites that crystal and thediagram of the crystal itself. Now there
is pencil and paper and the drawingboard. I won't do it. I'm
all you want to kill me yourhand Chotto? Are you ready? Does
(11:48):
the barbarian and lastal Commander Kyoto isan Anue warrior. If you insist on
being stubborn, he inserts that strawunder your skin and blows you up,
Commander Prayer until you burst like aballoon. You no things? You go
ahead? Shoto? Yeah, no, no, don't please all right,
(12:16):
I'll give it. God has banishedthe stubbornness from your soul. Unchanging Toto,
Yes, hurry, tootle. Nowcome on the figures, just four
of them, five five, definepoints one point one? Why? Three?
(12:43):
Eight? And excellent? Now thedrawing quicklick. It's so hard for
me to help him. Yotok, are you comfortable, Commander? Then draw
the crystal? Ah, this isthe Remember in and hour you can get
(13:05):
back at the station. Have Ithe word, a few lines on a
piece of paper, and you arefree. I promise, Ah, there's
gone backs on a paradise. Thisis seem must be exactly one wave line
(13:33):
for the radiation for me and faith. Thank you, Commander Kyoto as Freda
I listened, Catholic. Send acode cable to Comrade kabulosk in Blaod the
suck. You must get a planeto a tarow at once. Tell him
I have obtained the last link inProject seventy seven, and that I will
(13:56):
deliver it to him tomorrow night atseven in the Cafe of the Grinning Buddha
on the salary that would and Iwill prepare for crab meaty. The man
the fear is unconscious again, Well, perhaps it is easier that way disposed
of him. You can bury himsomewhere in the hills. That's the motto.
(14:28):
You're wrong, tis Day is aminister of the gospel. I'm as
sure as I'm sitting here he's ona level there. Should you reply to
my table any moment that the manradiates sincerity and integrity, I am sure
the reverence Tod will gives an impressionof great divinity. That's Captain Stanley.
He is a life. Oh tellme one thing, he said. You
forget Captain Stanley, that I speakJapanese. A's bluently as I do age.
(14:50):
He told me he had four hundredpositions on my way home from the
mission. I've called on the tactics. They are simple people, good people,
that's certain Stanley. Not once didI see a course or a Bible,
not in a single home. Thesepeople are not being teached to the
energy about today. What does thefree I heard an old woman a Cominomichi,
(15:13):
the way of the fun. Thesepeople are being preached a new Shintoism,
Shintoism with a new god to beworshiped, a god of communists.
Judy tells them they are being exploited, the communist. All is worth on
the minority group, repressed, thepoor carried the table just came in,
(15:33):
sir from Amoto. Ah, thankyou very much. And there's something else
said, come on with laws.Ah. This is from the Board of
Foreign Missions in Boston. No Protestantsis nominission as a residence visionary. I
thought follows. I was right.I can't believe tisday was a phone.
Excuse me soon there's another message, and Coolly just brought this to the front
(15:56):
gate of hut Sea. It's froma Tomoto to Fagons Lawson. That's all.
I am so very very pleased.Everything is progressing very very well.
By telling me why this is fromit. I knew woman, she deal
wife. I knew I was right. I knew I recognized her sick.
Yes, red, Why oh Iam you do not read Japmanese. Forgive
(16:18):
me, she writes to the firstthird to the first served during the fells
this evening. I don't get it. An young woman of her breeding would
always serve her husband's first, nomatter how important or how numerous to get.
And didn't she this afternoon when sheserved gacause she served me ahead of
(16:40):
Sidney first to t then with littlecakes. That is what she means by
to the first thirst and the bell. She wants me to come to her
to night while the reference did Daleconducts what he calls his prayer meeting.

not possibly defray my husband to aI barbarian. You asked what you love?
Been sent to me by Paul.I'm stopped for the way in opening,
(18:02):
fuming, disc turning, lost, furming your God, the day has

is beyond statement. But the matteris so very very urgent. May I
humbly beg you to proceed. Thesoul of command of free has fled his
(18:22):
body when the Teesdale exposed into alamp of the sun, until it was
the color of boiling blood. Thisdeath, this spring, the diagony was
of the crashing of whales. Theservant of my my husband killed him in
the hills. It's the commander.Give your husband any information about the weapon?

(30:34):
on NBC M welcome back. Well, I can't melodramatic and uh maybe a
little bit confusing though when you getright down to it. But every program
(31:03):
is entitled to an off day,so hopefully we'll have something better next week.
Well, we do turn to somelistener comments and feedback. Michael has
a question. I'm guessing the tapeDragnet shows. They taped Dragnet shows as
opposed to live audience. This isaccurate. How long did it take them
to tape the show? What studiodid they usually use? Well, thanks
(31:29):
for the question, Michael. Someof those I don't have firm answers on,
but we do have some information.First of all, Dragnet was actually,
if not recorded before live audience,it was recorded live and uptil nineteen
(31:52):
fifty one, when the TV versionlaunched, and so that would have been
recorded at NBC studios at that point. In terms of where they recorded the
transcripted ones, I would probably guessat the lot where the Dragnet TV programs
(32:15):
were filmed out at the boint ofIstelot that Web specifically had built and designed
for the programs. And at thattime Web was putting out an incredible number
of programs. On average, hewas doing thirty nine television episodes plus most
(32:44):
seasons. There was one season theytook us summer break, but most seasons.
He was doing fifty two radio episodes, and there were movie projects.
Really would not want to go downto NBC studios. I think common sense
would suggest that they went ahead andthey recorded the radio programs where they recorded
(33:06):
the television shows. In terms ofhow long the radio programs took, what
we been able to find from researchwas that Web did not have a did
not have time for rehearsal. Theprograms were recorded as time went, were
recorded really in more of a readingstyle, with very few rehearsals. So
(33:34):
these were not these were not jobsthat took a long time. Even the
television episodes only took a day anda half with no rehearsals. For radio,
you know, and allowing for somemistakes. I think if I were
to guess, I'd say probably anhour or two based on the information I've
been able to garner. So Ihope that helps Michael. And of course
(33:58):
that doesn't include all the time thatwork was done on the program, just
because you know, writing, etcetera, all that does take time.
But for radio it was never youknow, as complicated as television without that
(34:20):
visual format, and even without Web'sinsistence on a more minimalistic approach radio actors
frequently, you know, would doten or eleven shows a week, so
it would not be a long process. So I hope that helps, and
I hope that the guess is basedon the information I have found is not
(34:46):
far off the mark. So ifanyone has additional thoughts, I'd love to
hear about it. All right, well, we will be back on Wednesday,
when we'll continue with your truly JohnnyDollar. Join us next Tuesday for
another episode of Mister Motto. Andthanks so much for your support for the
(35:08):
last thousand episodes, and we'll lookforward to even better things to common our
next thousand. From Boise, Idaho, this is your host, Adam Graham.
Soon and off, be sure tolisten later on today for a one
thousandth episode special
