Las Vegas Fantasy Championship Draft mid Stakeswith the who's who of the f FWC
(00:23):
world. What is going on tonight, Jerry, I'm sitting here South Padre
Island celebrate my grandson's seventh birthday.Yeah, I gotta get too close to
the screen so you can't see thebackground. There's waves crashing behind me.
Oh that sounds awful. That sound. That sounds terrible, the way the
(00:43):
waves crashing. But that Yo,thank you so much for joining me tonight
for this. I am in thisdraft. I am picking eighth and you
are just gonna critique all the allthe all the picks, break it all
down. You're you're you're a veterandraft for yourself, so you'll be able
to lock in here and have somefun with it tonight. But the Boss,
Scott Atkins, was not able tomake it tonight. He had he
had to call in sick. It'shis last sick day. Of the year.
(01:07):
So that that's it. No more, no, no more calling in
sick. Are you all right,Jerry? Yeah? Did his grandma die
in or what? Oh? No, that's right. The dog. He
ate his homework, the dog.But yeah, So tonight we start breaking
this down here. I'm gonna talkabout the guys that are in this event
though tonight. A lot of thehigh stakes guys are in here, big
f FWC guys. But we've gotPredator one. Derek Grierre is in this
(01:33):
draft dads by Ray Cowart sere withus tonight, Grape Apes. I see
Gary Allen in a lot of anda lot of drafts uh something in the
Orange Matthew Lyons and Toby bill Cheney. I hope I pronounce that right.
Christian kirks Groin is in here.Andrew Palermo picking seventh right in front of
me. He can't wait to snighteme all night. I've been sniping him
(01:55):
so far this summer a bunch,so Andrew is going to make life hell
for me tonight. I think TeamCruse seven Russell Cruz in the house.
Love drafting against Russell. I draftagainst him here, I draft against in
Kentucky A couple other places of Spencer'stuning in Spencer, I'll see you soon.
I'll see you in Kentucky. That'llbe fun to hang out with with
(02:15):
those guys. Resistance is feudile ScottLawrence and Jim Budzick, Team Meyer and
Henry, William Meyron and Garrett Henry. I've seen him a bunch of these
before. Zulu Romeo, Bravo,Steve Mercer in the show Tonight, Square
Hammer Red Versus Blue two, asIbraheim in here with us. I know
(02:37):
Arof's a veteran of these as well. Team Krautwurz, which is myself and
more Dad or mad Dads, MadDads of Girls Gone Wild, Todd ze
O in the in the draft aswell. So, Jerry, what do
we think about our about our crewto Night Red Versus Blue, Well,
I know most of these guys.Derek Greer, Predator number one, I
(02:58):
think is new, but I draftedwith him a couple of nights ago and
he was right next to me andI was hoping to be Snoobi and no,
he's He's good like everybody else.So we need Scott to start finding
some weaker players because this great greatcoward. Drafted against him for years.
(03:20):
I think he plays a lot ofyou know, high stakes mid steaks,
great apes. Gary Allen then draftingagainst him for years. Matthew Lyons,
I believe I know him. Youknow I've seen him around here. Andrew
Palermo is one of the top players. I promise you in this at full
(03:44):
time. And you know I've gota if I could bet, I would
bet in the next three years hewins a main event. That that's how
good he is. He's one ofthe few guys I actually listened to.
Well, if I have anything tosay about it, that does that doesn't
happen. Love love Andrew, Butlisten, you're gonna have to get through
me and Jerry first. All right. Yeah, he's brilliant. He he
(04:06):
uh. He spends more more seriousabout these drafts than anybody I know,
but he has more fun with themanybody I know. He's he's one of
my favorites. Russell Cruz got eversince I've been here twenty since around twenty
thirteen, I've seen his name. He's been in all the big stuff.
(04:26):
So uh, Scott Lawrence, Uh, talk to him all the time.
One of my best friends here meand him think just to like, except
he likes the Eagles and the Cowboys. So but he's an old boy.
He's an old he's an old schooldrafter to type. He does main events
(04:46):
and mid stays. You're on thecourt, go ahead and draft and I'll
keep ye keep talking. I'll pay. It's another thing about Scott. He
knows more about music than any humanhave ever talked to, except maybe Snack.
But Scott has better taste than WilliamMeyer is the you never know what
(05:10):
he's gonna do. Been drafting againsthim forever. He used to drive Jack
Colsheen crazy. You could never figureout what he's gonna do next. And
yeah he's a wild card, buthe's very good. Steve Mercer seeing his
name everywhere, big, you know, high stakes guy. Of course,
(05:32):
a sheef Ibraham, he's always onthese Red versus Blue. He usually calls
in like listening to him. Ofcourse, Adam, Adam, you're our
version of Fozzy And yeah, that'sright, major volume drafter. I don't
think you'll ever catch Fozzy seven hundredone year, but a bunch of them.
(05:56):
I was talking to Fazzi today andhe's got Yeah, he's planning on
doing a ton of a A guy'sjust a grinder. People think it's all
it's all funny, games man. When you have one hundred plus lineups you
gotta start every week, it's ait's I I could I could never do
it. I could never see howhe does it. I think he told
you in one of your podcasts hedid seven hundred a couple of years ago.
(06:18):
I don't think they're all. Yeah, probably a lot of best probably
bestball. Yeah, and Todd zO me and hit me and Todd are
I probably drafted more against him thananybody here. We do a lot of
little fifty dollars drafts and a lotof mistakes. Uh yeah, he me
(06:38):
and him, Spenking. I seehim in Vegas every year. Great guy,
real good player. He's one ofthe few guys that you'll see in
discord go out and ask questions topeople and yeah, and he does it
and he learns from it, andthe rest of us all just throw shit
out there like we know it all. But Todd's always prying and looking for
(07:00):
answers, and that's why he's sayingI think he came in second in the
midstakes last year. Okay, soso that's he's a But yeah, great,
great crew. Yeah, like Isaid, I know most of these
guys draft been here since about twentythirteen. Yeah, no, it's always
a great crew. It's a great, tight knit group of guys out out
(07:21):
here, and they like to talkabout each other and to each other and
and and compete competitive. Everyone knowswhat the other guy's doing, who's draft
and who everyone's keep keeping score. It's it's almost like a one big home
league here at the FFWC. It'sfantastic. I'm on the clock here.
(07:42):
Easy picks, man. These firsttwo have been pretty easy. I don't
make sure I don't miss anybody here. But it's gonna be hard tonight because
I can't put guys in my queuebecause everyone can see. But yeah,
I'm happy with Drake, with DrakeLondon there. But yeah, dude,
I mean again, big crew, for sure. It was funny. I'm
trying to Andrew last week and he'sI get super I get into drafts sometimes
(08:07):
quickly because I want to see whatI get very excited about the draft slot.
Like I look at the email Iwant to see I scroll down real
slow to see like what pick Iam, because that's like, one of
the funnest parts to me is tosee, like what pick I am,
and Andrew is telling me the same, the same thing that he does.
It's funny. We're just a bunchof psychopaths over here. But definitely,
but for sure. But but yeah, tell me about you and the FFWC
(08:28):
and how you came to play overhere and all that, all that that
good stuff. Yeah, I figuredI'd tell this story because some of the
guys will get a kick out ofit. And but I think what it
does is it talks about just wantwhat everybody loves about this site. Back
around nineteen ninety two, I joinedmy home league. I worked at a
(08:50):
company called floor and after about threeyears they made me the commission and I
became obsessed with changing the scoring systemevery year to get it perfect, to
eliminate the most luck you could possiblyfind. You know, we had guys
(09:11):
like Drome Bettis get three carries forthree yards and three touchdown three touchdowns,
and Barry Sanders would for a fewyards, they take him out, put
Tommy Vardell in get a one yardrun, and you know, it drove
me nuts. And every year Iwould change the rules, the scoring rules
and it would drive these guys inthe league crazy. But I was just
(09:35):
obsessed with it. And you knowthat was back around you know, ninety
four ninety five, it's when itstarted, and around I was ten years
old, Jerry, just in case. Around twenty thirteen, I saw an
ad that's a company called Scout Fantasyput out and they explained their system there
(09:58):
the way they did and why itwas the best, and I said,
damn, this is it. Thisis the perfect system. And two things
that stood out to me was thethree wide receivers and two flex I absolutely
loved that. And the other thingwas the playoffs, the way they did
(10:18):
playoffs, the you know, thethree week total points. You know,
I hated the head on head things, especially when you're playing for money,
right, I mean a decent chunkof money. I could not stand head
to head championships because you may playa team that you know, it was
(10:41):
the work fourth best team and hescored more than he had all year and
you're out all of a sudden. So it drove me crazy. So anyway,
it's almost finished. But I thinkthis is the good part is so
I got me and three of mybuddies. Okay, I thought were the
best players in my home league, and we are all good players to this
(11:05):
day. Those three guys are stillvery good. And we joined a main
event scout. I think back thenit was about sixteen hundred dollars, so
we all threw in four hundred dollars. We went to Buffalo Wild Wings and
Scott suttered announcing the players, andwe had Shradh Chad Schroeder, the number
(11:26):
one player in the world, andSanto's the number seven player in the world.
Russell Cruz was probably in it,you know, Cuckas Kirk Kucka's you
know, all these and these guyslooked at me and said, why the
hell are we in this? Youknow? I said, well, man,
it'd be fun. Come on,man, we'll show these guys how
(11:46):
to do it. We know we'llprobably win this thing, right, So
we drafted. We had the firstpick. We had McCoy. We picked
McCoy, Queene McCoy, and CalvinJohnson. This is I think twenty thirteen,
Okay. The team was called SugarlandExpress because we worked in sugar Land,
(12:07):
Texas well. We ended up ohto thirteen that year, and there
were three hundred and fifty five teamsin the main event that year and we
were the only zero and thirteen teams. I'm proud of you. So what
that showed us was these guys aregood. Yeah, and this system was
(12:31):
different, totally different than what wewere used to doing. And uh but
anyway, it it. You know, ever since then our home league,
we followed these rules and it's justit's the best. I can't stand the
tight end premium leagues, the youknow, the different the two wide receiver
(12:54):
yea two flex or one three rodereceiver one flex. I can't. I
can't stand playing those. This isI think, by far the best format.
Yeah, no, this is athis is a great format. I
love it. The three receivers, the two flex. It really pushes pushes
the limits here. And also thehonestly the best thing about the f FWC
(13:15):
and full time is the live thelive draft, man, I mean that
the experience in Vegas. When yougo out there, you feel like a
high roller. You're you're you're draftingin suits. You know you're drafting.
Last year we're top golf as well. Last year I drafted there. You
know, you're right at CIRCA thebest place to do this in the entire
world. Uh, the Thursday nightparty, Friday night, we left to
(13:37):
make something happen again this year. But it's just such a great time.
They do it right. The food, the drinks, the experience is absolutely
wonderful. So yeah, kud kukudos to them, the best in the
business. And yeah, no,it's fun. It's fun. It's fun
to do these. I like doingthese midstakes. I like doing the high
stakes ones too. But shout outto Scott Lawrence in the in the chat
(13:58):
tonight, Todd z o ash,what's up, Lawrence Curtis, Everyone's everyone's
here here tonight, getting in here. Listen pop pop, some questions in
here, talk some trash in thechat tonight. Uh, let's have a
good time. I am on duckhere coming up. And then after I
pick, we'll finish out the thirdand maybe we'll start breaking down some of
(14:18):
these teams. What do you think? What do you think? Jerry?
Yeah, let's let'sten, let's breakdown their starts versus the first round.
Yeah, you can do that, you can do that. Let me see.
Oh come on, Jerry, youknow who you know? Who I
who I'm looking at here? Youknow you already know. Let me show
you he's still there. Let mesee if you can figure out who I'm
(14:41):
who I'm gonna pick. But Ican't believe he's still there. Oh my
god. Let's we're gonna you diversify. No, no, not not tonight.
Not. We're not diversifying tonight. So I'm gonna go with running back.
I'm gonna have way too much ofthis guy. We're going Devin h
and a chain. Uh. Itook him at the two ten the other
(15:03):
night, and I was fine fightingwith her two eleven wherever I was b
John and ah Chan. You know, I didn't think there was gonna be
a running back in the third thatI was gonna like. I thought for
sure he'd be gone, you know. But here he is. And that's
with a guy in front of me, going running back, running back,
running back. So but no,I'm super happy with that with that start,
for sure. But do you gotme to start with the first three
(15:24):
teams here, Jared, Yeah, let me say something about a chain real
quest tell him the other night thatthis guy's gonna kill me because he's like,
he's like my hair on an addict, right, I just can't.
Yeah, I'm just addicted to him. Yeah, And of course the other
night you got him from me.But but yeah, I'll I'll be trying
(15:48):
to get as much as him asI can't. Yeah, yeah, yes,
once you start, Yeah, Ican't. I can't wait too.
Uh. Anthony hates him. Anthonysays he's a bust. Listen. If
you think he's gonna get hurt, fine, but as obvi as he doesn't
hurt. For the year, hemissed four five games. Most running MIxS
miss four five games. The gameshe plays, he is going to be
a top three running back. Soand he's my RB two. So I'm
fine. I'm fine with that, all right, Team one Gatsby, I
(16:11):
gotta be honest. Team the firstand second pick this year and maybe even
the third. I kind of hatebecause I don't like at this point in
the off season, I don't likethe two three turn. Nothing. There
hasn't been any camp news, there'sbeen no injuries, there's been nothing,
and I think the two three turnis just kind of a flat tier for
me. That's why I've been takinga chant at the two three turn,
because I like the pop that hebrings to a roster. Pittman more Collins,
(16:33):
Evans Swaddle, They're kind of likea flat tier for me, So
I don't love picking in there. So McCaffrey, you feel like you have
to pick McCaffrey or Lamb at theone two here another reason why I don't
like picking at the top, butget but Gatsby goes McCaffrey, more Collins.
Fine, I can't argue with thatthat those guys are going at ADP
(16:55):
there. Maybe More was a littlebit early, But Collins he could be
the wide receiver. Three, hecan be the white two, he can
be the bide receiver. One.I'm not really on Collins because I just
don't know, uh no training campyet to really break that down, So
it'll be interesting to see kind ofwhere Nico Collins finishes as the receiver there
and for for Houston, Tim Meyer, CD lamb Att two. Overall fine,
(17:18):
I love it, Kyrien Williams,Isaiah Pachaco. I think that's a
little early to double tap running backin this tournament. You really want to
have three solid receivers and you canstart up to five. Pa check Oh,
I like I got him in thelate fourth in the other night's draft,
so at the three oh two isn'tvalue. I'm okay. With one
(17:40):
of them, I wouldn't take bothKyron. I don't want to get too
much away of my strategy, butI'm kind of off Kyron this year because
he's a he's he's a chain butaround around earlier and kind of less competition.
But we'll we'll we'll talk about thatlater. And then I like to
start Tyreek kill Pittman Evans again. Now he's a flat tier for me.
(18:00):
Hill's good flat tier for me.Starting zero RB, I'm I doc,
go ahead, go ahead, Jerry. Yeah, the the you're on the
clock. Yeah, Picks one throughthree, the second, third rounds.
It's pretty much the same guys.So you're just you know, you know,
it's almost flipping a coin. Letme ask you something. D J
(18:22):
Moore and Nico Collins. I mean, they're both on teams that have three
other or two other you know, valid options at wide receiver, and man,
I don't I don't know what todo about those guys. I love
DJ Moores as a football player, and but man, he's got Allen and
(18:44):
and the rookie, and then ofcourse Collins has Tank dal who's one of
my favorites, and you know digso I mean, man, I don't
know what to do about those guys. Uh yeah, sorry, who are
you talking about those? Jerry dJ. Moore and Collins. Yeah,
I just don't know what to do. Again, both of them are in
are in receiving courses. They havethree good receivers, you know, and
(19:06):
then you got Comebat, you gotrunning backs. You can catch them all.
Like I just and not knowing atthat point in the draft. It's
it's tough, you know, youknow so, But again I get that's
where their ADP is. That's whyI don't like drafting up there at all.
And that's why I take a channelup there because I just I we
don't know. It's it's sort ofnow again, this will change in a
month where there might be injuries. If we get an injury, do a
(19:29):
receiver here at receiver there, Nowall of a sudden you are more confident
in the guys to take. Butbut right now kind of tough. Yeah,
I'll go through team nine through twelve. Zulu, Steve Mercer, AJ
Brown of course, and Taylor.I've been hung up on Taylor or Barkley.
I'm back and forth on those twoand talking to Andrew the other day
(19:53):
and he taught me into Barkley,so I'm back on Barkley. There,
Debo, you know, high upside. Tank Dale. I love Tankdal.
But again he might be the thirdreceiver on that team. But he's going
in round five. You know,I guess late. Round four is just
(20:15):
a little early. But now Ilove the player. U of H guy,
I love my U of H guys. There you go, Scott.
The next guy Scott resistance is feudalMarvin Harrison. I won't own any Marvin
Harrison because I will not pick himwhere he's going. And I know,
Adam, you've got a bunch ofhim and you've been getting him a little
(20:38):
later. Yeah, Vonnie Adams.I mean, I love or Shad White.
I can't believe I've been seeing himgo late and round four middle,
round four. That's crazy. Hewas the number four running back last year.
I don't understand what's changed. Youknow, nothing's changed there, right
except I guess the different offensive coordinator. But yeah, not much has changed
(21:04):
there. I think the thing withRashad what, I think, it's fine,
he's fine as RB twelve. Thething about it is he just wasn't
good last year like he was.He wasn't efficient at all. He wasn't
a good player. He just gota ton of volume and a ton of
catches. So if yeah, whichis what you want from your running backs.
But with the new offensive coordinator,if something's changed, you know,
it could it could really hinder him. But I'm okay with him at running
(21:26):
back twelve because who ya kind ofstacking him up against other running backs kind
of in the same Cis situation.Yeah, but he you know, he
was, he's efficient. You don'tget points for being efficient, sure,
and he was running back for lastyear. Yeah, I don't. I'm
really confused as to why he's droppingso far. And this is actually kind
(21:48):
of early from what I've ben.Sie and Kirk. I like Kirk more
than others do, so you know, I like that start for Scott.
I love his third pick and thefourth pick rape Apes Pookah. I said
I wouldn't draft him where he's going, and then I drafted him at pick
(22:11):
eleven the other night, So youknow, Gibbs love Gibbs had him last
year. Yeah, Cooper, Uhyeah, he was old Dallas guy and
they sent him to Cleveland and heseemed like he was always heard at Dallas
and but man, he just produces, you know, he kind of reminds
(22:32):
me a little bit of Evans. And then Zay Flowers. He's been going
late round three. So that's agood pick there. So so these teams
look pretty good on the back.Yeah, no exactly. I like I
agree with most of what you whatyou said there for sure, and so
(22:56):
yeah, that was that was team'stime through twelve. So what teams were
got left here that we got wegot I'll do four through six. Okay,
good luck Predator starting running back, running back, running back in a
start three receiver and then going JoshAllen here comes. I'm hoping nine straight
receivers for Predator, but I don'tthink it's gonna work because then you got
(23:18):
to pick what receivers you're gonna startevery week. Good luck. We'll see,
we'll see if if it can,if it can work. I like
Hall, I like the players, love Hall, like ETN love Henry.
Josh Allen is my guy. Solet's see how the rest of this draft
plays out for Predator, Chase Barkley, Cup Allen. Finally, have no
complaints, Stevenson, no complaints there, don't hate any of the players,
(23:41):
gets a little bit of value onBarkley, and I love Coup this year.
Actually I have him. I thinkhe's gonna be better than wide receiver
nineteen if he stays healthy. SoI think that'll be good for them.
I like to build so far andthen something we've got Jefferson widell neighbors.
Love that. I love neighbors, even as wide receiver twenty. Me.
I'm not a James Cook guy.I'm from Western New York. I'm a
(24:03):
Bills fan. I want my runningdecks to catch passes and get goal line
work. He doesn't get goal linework. He drops a lot of passes.
He's not the goal line back there. He was third in the league
in rushing for Fantasy and he finisheslike RB twelve. So like, I
don't know what much more you canexpect from him. He's he's got.
I think he has four rushing touchdownsfor two seasons, so that's gonna be
(24:25):
tough. But I like the buildplayers. I love Higgins. I'm I'm
pissed that he just went here becauseI do love Higgins. I would I
would have definitely taken him with mynext pick here. But but yeah,
so Higgins is a good, goodpick, and I like the roster kind
construction. Yeah, predator starting threerunning backs. I'm not on in ATM
(24:45):
for some reason this year. Iwas on that year. Yeah. The
the wide receivers drop off big timeafter round five and six. So he's
my a hard time finding, youknow, three starters that he likes.
There, I'll go back to let'sstart. I'll start with pick seven or
(25:12):
six. Seven and eight, okay, good because I can get at him.
I can get at uh, AndrewAndrew huge, I'm on Saint Brown
guy. I remember listening to Fabianoon the radio a few years ago talking
(25:33):
about how Aman wasn't that good andthe only reason he had scored so many
points the year before because the tidyend went down, and and I remember
Andrew talked to me out saying, man, this guy's a player. Man,
he's a stud. And sure enoughhe was right. This guy's one
of my favorite players. I knowhe ain't one of Andrew's favorite. So
he Andrew likes a Yuke. I'mnot high on a Yuke. Uh,
(25:57):
it's a little early for him,but you know, I think Andrew likes
him. DeVante Smith, I lovehim. I like him better than aj
Brown Pickens Pickings man, you don'tknow about him. He could be top
five or you know, fiftieth, but I'm taking him this year. Ken
(26:21):
kid, that's probably you know, the first five rounds on my drafts.
I've got more Kincaid than anybody,so you know, as far as all
the early picks, he could easilybe tight en one this year. So
this is a great start for Andrew. Of course, he's gonna hate me
(26:42):
saying that. He's like snake. He hates and when people say their team's
good, he can't stand that. But Adam B. John, nothing else
you can do there except maybe GarrettWilson. Drake London. Man, I'm
just can't do Drake London. Whytalking about about Drake London. I love
(27:03):
him, I can't I know mostpeople do. I'm different in that.
I mean, I'm not drafting everybodyelse is. I think their organization is
a mess and their their GM willwill be gone next year. So I
don't trust anybody at Atlanta right now. Chain like I said, he's the
(27:25):
heroine and I'm ann addict. That'smy guy there. Diggs always liked Diggs.
He's a little bit of a diva, which I don't like, but
he produces. He's good. Hemight be the wide receiver one in Houston
and got receiver three Jerry. Yeah. I've always I can't stand Hopkins,
(27:48):
and because I've heard things about himin years what he does, and I've
never been a fan of his,but last year he he he surprised me.
I gained back a little respect forhim. But I'm not anybody knows.
I'm not a Higgins or Hopkins guy. I can't stand either one of
them. Teams Cruz, Garrett Wilsoncould be wide receiver one. Who knows
(28:18):
there's I mean, how could heget what he did last year with his
quarterbacks? Amazing? You're on theclock a lobby. I'm picking him earlier
than most people are, so that'sa good pick in my mind. Metcalf.
I love Metcalf, always have. He's tough. I love guys that.
I saw him get a knee injuryyears A couple of years ago,
(28:41):
I said he'll never return, andhe was there next week. I'll always
be a Metcalf fan. Jacobs,I'm a Jacob's guy. He's he's like
polarizing. Some people don't like him. I kind of like him. Kenneth
Walker. Injuries are a problem, you know, Bride. I'm on Kinkaid,
(29:02):
so I'm not getting too much fromMcBride, but I love the player.
So as always, Russell Cruz hasa solid team there. Yeah,
No, russ is one of oneof the best. Uh just cover a
couple of picks that you said,Brandon Ayuk. Yeah, it's early for
Ayuk. Everyone loves the talent. But speaking of a mess, the organization
(29:23):
is on a mess, but thesituation with Ayuk could be a mess.
This stuff happens all the time withsome receivers. Every year, like you
always have a situation like this andusually they end up kind of being ugly
there. You know, the Ninersare kind of in a good spot there.
They you know, they drafted arookie early and so I Yuke if
he wants to mess around, Imean they can kind of just you know,
(29:45):
tell them to hit not not nothit the road because he's great and
they're trying to win a Super Bowl. But I just don't like the way
that that's going there now. Andit's a little early for him there as
well. So I agree with alot of that. I got digs over
to my team. I got Digsas the wide receiver, like the third
receiver off the board for for Houston, so and a round and a half
later than Nico Collins. So I'mperfectly fine with that. Yeah, and
(30:07):
Hopkins, I agree again, Ijust need a receiver at that point,
wide receiver thirty seven, new offensivecoordinator. They're gonna go to the spread
offense. I think Hopkins has atleast one decent year left. He could
be a wide receiver three. Imean, right right, right right there,
you're taking them as well. Ireceiver four. So I got sniped
by Ross and Trey Trey McBride.I would have taken McBride there. So
(30:29):
I liked that pick by Ross. You mentioned Josh Jacobs. I think that
the hard part about Jacobs is theyrotate their backs there in Green Bay.
So that's what makes it hard isyou know, you know they drafted a
kid there, is he going tobe the starter? I mean, Jacobs
will be the starter, but againanother guy that wasn't very efficient and they
split carry, so that'll be aninteresting situation. I think Jacobs will be
(30:51):
okay, but you know, andagain Russ started three receivers, so it's
like you gotta go get a runningback eventually, So don't I don't.
I don't think it's a terrible pickat all. So yeah, on Hopkins,
Yeah, I've been here in thespread offense that that's always good to
hear for fantasy. So that, yeah, they should be throwing the ball
(31:12):
all over the place from what Iunderstand. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
So I took Deontay Johnson as widereceiver forty as my wide receiver four.
You know, I want to getyour thoughts on Dantay Johnson. So
Carolina go they got the young quarterbackthat they want to put pieces around to
see what they have in their quarterback. They go out and they trade for
(31:33):
Deontay Johnson. Grab him. He'salways been a target monster, target earner
there. I mean, who's thiscompetition thirty three year old Adam Felan who
was insane like the first half andthen fell off because he's old. I
mean, I think you trade fora guy to bring him in to prove
see if your quarterback is good,he's gonna get targets wide receiver forty.
(31:56):
I'm happy with it. What doyou think about a Deontay Johnson And maybe
just to care went off offense.Yeah, well, I think, like
you say, a couple of yearsI didn't like him, but I started
watching him and and I forget whothe quarterback was he let him ever ever
play. That's all he looked atwas Deontay Johnson, and I gained some
respect for him as a player. So Brian Young, if he latches on
(32:20):
to him, I mean, likeyou say, who else has he got?
So he you know, he maycatch a hundred balls this year.
And I think they've got to bebetter than they were last year. I
know the quarterback will Yeah, who'stheir coach? It's I think it's the
what's his name from Tampa, Oh, the Tampa Bay guy? Yeah,
(32:45):
so yeah, I can't remember hisname on the top of my head.
But they're good. Their defense isterrible, so they're gonna have to throw
the ball like, they're gonna beplaying from behind like and and so again,
I'm not he's not a flag plantguy. But as wide receiver forty
and my and my fourth receiver,I'm fine. I'm fine with it for
sure. So I think stand outto you, Jerry so far in this
(33:08):
draft as far as like positional typestuff. I know, you know,
quarterbacks and tight ends usually last awhile over here at the f f w
C. You know, Kelsey goesalmost a full round later than normal.
He usually goes at the uh threefour turn. He goes to the four
five turn in this in this thisdraft, you know, quarterbacks usually last
(33:29):
until the fifth round. Uh this, you got Josh Allen go off in
the fourth and then Predator just hasto make the detour to go get James
Connor as his RB four. Likeit's got you know, starting up,
he's starting four running backs. ButXavier Worthy as your wide receiver two is
gonna be gonna be tough? Isthat Predator? Is that Harry Mary Monks?
(33:50):
That's right, that's right. Itell him draft five straight running backs
first picks the other night, ohman, and then four I think the
next draft. But uh uh yeah. Let me ask you something to Adam,
what do you think about stacking playersand redrafts. I've never been a
(34:12):
big fan of it. I don'tmind stacking a quarterback and a receiver,
but I never like quarterback and tworeceivers on the same team. And I
don't like quarterback running back receiver onthe same team. It seems like that's
growing these days, and I thinkit has something to do with all these
best balls, you're on the clockthings that that people do, you know,
(34:36):
these underdog you know, best ballis a totally different thing, and
you have to stack. But Ithink that's spilling over into redrafts and that's
you know, quarterback and receivers. You've always heard that, but it seems
like it's getting bigger. And Ijust I've never been a fan of stacking
too much in redrafts. Yeah,I completely agree as I as I I'm
(35:01):
about to take maybe not sorry,I'm on, I'm on the I'm on,
I'm on the clock here. Letme just make my pick and then
we'll I think there's a receiver thatI love. Nope, all right,
I'm gonna go with Yeah, I'mgonna go this route. Mh. I'm
(35:24):
going with the with the hyper high, hyper fragile team here tonight, Jerry.
Yeah. So I think stacking isnothing, nothing that you should target
and redraft because in the three weekrace or whatever for all the money at
the end of a tournament, anon basketball tournament, the chances of your
(35:45):
quarterback and multiple weapons going off atthe same in the same game is tough.
The reason why you do it inbest ball is because you want the
quarterback and you'll and if the quarterbackgoes off, you will have the weapon.
You'll have all of them or mostof them or whatever. You don't
have to pick which one to start. But if you've got like let's say
(36:06):
Burrow, Higgins and Chase like andyou're playing where you need to be optimal,
like you need to score a tonof points. You can't be averaged.
You need to score a ton ofpoints. The thought of them,
all three of them going off everyweek for three weeks is difficult. It's
just not probably not gonna, notgonna happen. So I don't I think
(36:27):
stacking is probably suboptimal for sure.So I mean, if you fall into
it, fine, but I don'tthink you should be targeting it for sure.
So and that's why I like takingguys like Richardson. Like I take
Anthony Richard Here's QB five. Hewhen he plays, he will be a
top three quarterback. Now could heget banged up? Absolutely? What are
(36:51):
used up? You're gonner? AndI don't need to stack him because his
fantasy value comes on the ground,So I don't need to I can,
I can't. I can grab areceiver if I want to or But you
know, the great thing about havinga Richardson, having even a Jalen Hurts,
having a Josh all the guys whoscore so many points on the ground
is you don't have to stack them, and you probably don't don't want to.
(37:13):
So that's my thought. That wasthe one. So I was thinking,
we were talking about stack, andI was thinking about taking Kyle Pitts.
I think he's certainly worth a seventhround pick, but I already had
two Falcons and I was willing totake the risk on it in the eighth,
hoping that McBride, Laporta, andAndrew's owners would all pass on him
and then Great Apes would as well. But Great Apes takes the value and
(37:35):
goes to Kyle pits. Yeah.I didn't didn't realize you had to Atlanta
guys. Yeah, you were stackingthe first Exac's right, that's right.
But I wasn't gonna take Cousins likeagain, and it's a running back and
a receiver, so it's a littlebit different. But I don't think you
need to. I mean, you'regonna end up with players on the same
team. But I don't think youshould, Like you said, it's not
best ball, you're you you wantto stack. You kind of have to
(37:59):
stack in this. I think it'sfine to do it, but I think
it's if you get too crazy withit. It could be some optimal for
sure. I think the only stackI could do in a redraft would be
like a to a chain and hell, you know, because a chain,
so yes, all over the place. You know he's gonna score forty twenty
(38:21):
five, five, forty thirty two. You know, It's like if he
don't score, you know, it'sgonna be hell right right, so,
and if the chain doesn't score,it's gonna be you're on the clock to
So I could see a Miami stackin redraft exactly. So yeah, it's
(38:42):
it's it's it's how much basketball youdoing this year? Jerry? You do
it? You're doing what much ofthat? I only do it if I
have to, you know, likeif Scott needs somebody to fill it.
I can't stand bestball. It's justto me, it's just all luck.
I mean, not all luck, but it's a lot more luck than redraft.
And the fun part of to meof fantasy football is managing your team
(39:05):
and this and that. But man, I tell you it's taken over the
world. Man, this Underdog anddrafters, all these sites. That's millions
and millions of people doing it.Uh, best ball drafts these days.
But I'm not a fan. Idon't. I don't do it unless I
I just need to fill help Scottfill a draft. Yeah, Scott,
(39:29):
Scott loves filling these these drafts.I mean that's that's that's that's his job,
right fill these drafts up. AndI'm happy to do it as well.
For sure. It's fun. Obviously, there's nothing better than the drafting
apps. Absolutely So with my fifthreceiver, this is probably my first share
of Curtis Samuel in this this format. Why is he for forty eight?
(39:50):
He could be the Bills wide receiverone. I just don't know. Nobody
knows, could be Kean Coleman,but I don't I don't think. I
don't think it will be. TheBill's will be spreading the ball on a
lot. So Chris Samuel is aguy that you know, a flex play
a bye week feeling something like that. But I'm just kind of taking shots
at receivers here. This is youknow, it's tough. Like I love
(40:13):
Bijon, I love a Chan, but when you go two running backs in
your first three picks, you're reallyoppressing. Kind of have you know your
wide receiver five and stuff like that, so that that makes it, that
makes it tough. Wide receivers falloff after round five or six. It
gets real hard to find them. And I love Samuel. I think he
(40:34):
that's the Buffalo guy I want sofar, So Samuel Coleman Shakir Bang Bang
bang. Three receivers in a row. There three receivers in in a row.
So what do you think about GiovanniWilliams. You know, he's such
an interesting player. I know somereally smart people that have him in the
early twenties as their ranked running backs. And I'm able to get if I
(41:00):
have too much of it. I'msometimes I'm able to get him as like
running back thirty five, you know, and I just don't I want to
see like he wasn't good last year, but he was like healthy and getting
getting stronger, like they forced himlike two hundred touches or more, I
think coming off the knee injury. So I think him being a year.
(41:22):
This is usually the year where theguys come back like the closest to one
hundred percent, and he doesn't havemuch competition there at running back. He
can run. He was good beforehe got He was good as rookie year.
So I'm overweight on Javata Williams, but only because I've been just be
gonna only because I take usually takereceivers early, and I'm pushing running back
here. But I think that Iwouldn't be surprised if he ends up as
(41:45):
a top twenty, top fifteen runningback. Yeah, he was so good
before the injury. Yeah, hewas a stud monster and and yeah it
came back early, seemed like tome last year and he was a little
bit better, and I thought hewould because I thought it was too early.
And so I'm man, I'm I'mpicking Himan because you, like you
(42:08):
said, the next year after theinjury, the second year, they're they're
sometimes back to almost normal. Soif he is, I mean, who
else they got a pass catcher androokie, So I'm in on him.
Probably a little bit too much, too much, Yeah, no, no,
(42:30):
I get it. These tight endsare kind of going off the board
here. You saw, you know, Ferguson goes off there to the speak
of stacking Ferguson and c Dee Lamb. But again, I think that's okay
to do that there because a tightend of the receiver. You know,
I think that the two clear optionsthere to to to be part of that
(42:54):
offense. And so I think thatthat's fine in the first and the eighth
round, you know, I thinkI think if you're forcing like Chase and
Higgins and rounds one and four orsome something like that, I think and
the quarterback, I think that's whereyou can get kind of not as optimal
as you would like to be forsure. Yeah, So that's that's that's
(43:16):
that's interesting there, Predator one.So what do we think for running backs
in his first you know, sixrounds and Worthy and Shakira as his wide
receiver two and three? Is thatis that gonna work? I don't think
so, I don't. I'm notin Unworthy. I mean, he's he's
(43:36):
the gonna be the what the fourthoption or third option and a and of
course he's gonna he's gonna have acouple of long touchdowns and and and you
know what people are forgetting about isthis new kickoff thing. You know,
I've been here, and I don'tunderstand the new rule, but evidently there's
gonna be a lot more kicks returnthis year, and you know Worthy,
(44:01):
you know he can may may geta few. I think they're going to
run and use him on kickoffs punts. So I like the other Texas receiver
better. Yeah, I like himbetter as a player, but of course
Worthy, he's had a better situation. But uh, I'm not. I
(44:22):
can't draft Worthy. I you knowwho is the whose record did he break?
You know, he broke the recordfor the forty yard dash? I'm
not sure. Was it Tyreek? No? It was Ross Ross, that's
right? Yeah? And how didRoss? And that? Right? Yeah?
I mean he just because you're fast, that doesn't mean a lot.
(44:45):
In the NFL, of course theylove speed, but that doesn't translate to
being a good player. But Ihope he does because I'm a U T
guy and I love UT players,But I'm not sold on him. And
Shakir's a very talented player, andhe's with he's with and he's with Josh
(45:08):
Allen. There there's a stack.Shakiro and Allen know that'll be the one
bill, So I'm sure he washappy to get one of those. I
mean, he had to be sweatingbullets with Samuel goes Kean Colvin Goes saying,
oh my god, I'm gonna I'mgonna lose out. But the clock,
Yeah no, I I you know, glent Or Snake hates my hen
pick because it puts me by theape out receiver. I get it.
(45:31):
But if a chan hits, I'mnot gonna care. Like if if I'm
rolling, if hits week to week, he's the top five running neck.
I'm gonna have two top five runningnecks every every week. And they saw
Hopkins is my wide receiver three,so I think I'll be okay there.
Uh So I pushed tight end andI ended up with a guy that I
am fine with, George. I'mgonna take George Kittle here, let me
(45:54):
see where he goes a d Pboard. So I took Kittle like two
rounds after ADP so or maybe maybemaybe around around after eight ADP. I
think it was at eight eleven whenI get him, Yeah, around you
know it was at eight eleven.I got him at nine nine to eight.
So I'm happy to do that. And I could have pushed it again,
(46:17):
Jerry, because all the guys behindme have tight ends. But lately
guys have been double tapping tight endin the first ten rounds just because,
especially guys like teams like Zulu orteams like Resistance, Like, hey,
listen, I've got three running backs. We're at wide receiver forty eight,
Like do I take wide receiver fiftyI'm sorry, re resiver fifty four?
(46:39):
Like? Do I take receiver fiftyfour? Or do I take George Kittle?
Like who's more likely to start inmy in? My in, my
flex? And so guys are doubletapping tight ends in the first ten rounds.
So I couldn't risk I couldn't riskone of these guys behind me taking
taking Kittle. You know, whatdo you think about that? Have you
been seeing that? Well? Ihad? If you didn't take Kittle,
(47:00):
who's left at tight end? Yeah, a couple of guys and Djoku,
Goddard, Bauers, Hockinson, Schultz, Fri. Yeah, yeah, I
probably shouldn't be talking about guys Ihadn't been picked. But yeah, if
I don't get, you know, one of the top four or so five,
maybe I wait and then just picktwo or three of them near the
(47:23):
bottom. I'm not a Kiddle guy. Fuck Kittle. I'll never forget.
After they beat Dallas for like thefiftieth time in a row last year,
he pulled off his shirt and itsaid fuck that Cowboys. So so I
did a fuck Kittle team. I'mnot a fan. I honestly I'm not
(47:45):
a Kittle guy either this season,but I think it's tight a nine.
I think it's certainly fine, andI think you know he has the upside.
He has the weekly upside again becauserichardson't gonna finish as QB three QB
two overall, probably not because's gonnamiss some games, but when he plays,
he's gonna be QQB three. Samewith same with same with Kittle,
(48:07):
not the injury thing, but whenhe played, he has the he has
every year he goes on these spreeesof three straight games where he's unstoppable.
So if I can get that outof him, I don't think the guy's
behind him going. Like you said, I like, there's a couple of
guys I really like that we won'ttalk about. But I think he has
that again, that potential to smashany any any week on this slate.
So I think I think that'll besuper interesting but you're right, I'm not.
(48:30):
I'm not a kiddle guy. Normallythis year they think this, this
might be my first share so sointeresting, Love so great. Babes gets
his quarterback, Jordan Love. Doeshe stack him with anybody? No,
sir Kyler Murray, who I reallylike? Is QB nine goes off the
board stacked with Marvin Harrison. Again. I think one is good. I
(48:52):
think one is good. One receiveror one tight end to go with your
quarterback is good. I think anythingmore might be a little, a little
rough. So everyone's got there.I'm sorry QQB nine one, it's QB
eight and nine. But where areyou with quarterbacks? Year? Are you
a wait and take a guy?Or you like one of those elite ones.
(49:14):
I'm not in the club, kidAndrew about this all the time.
There's a club of high six playersthat think, oh, if you take
a quarterback early, you don't belongin the club, right, something wrong
with you? And I'm not inthat club. I like to get clock
(49:38):
the checko, I mean Alan orMahomes or Hurts. I like to get
one of those guys if I can. And the reason I think that way,
and I might be wrong In fact, this year. I've never seen
more quarterback ones out there that youcan wait. Then you can get a
guy with a fifteenth quarterback, It'sgoing to be somebody you can start.
(50:00):
I've never seen a year when waiton quarterbacks makes more sense. But what
I want in the playoff weeks isI want the guys that are sure things.
And nobody's sure things late in theyear except maybe quarterbacks. You know,
Josh Allen's gonna be healthy, Mahome'sgonna be healthy, Hurts is gonna
(50:22):
be healthy, and they usually producein those championship weeks. I had a
big team last year and I hadHill, Keenan Allen, Tank Dell,
and they were nowhere to be foundplayoff weeks. You know, Hill had
an injury, he was playing abouthalf the snaps, Keenan Allen was out,
(50:45):
Dell had a broken leg. ButI had my homes and he didn't
do a lot, but he stillhe was there producing decent numbers. And
you know, Justin Jefferson a fewyears ago just disappeared in the playoffs.
I mean, I want one ofthose top guys in those championship weeks because
(51:07):
I think quarterback is the only prettymuch are the closest thing to a sure
thing at the end of the year. But I can understand the half of
the drafts. I wait half ofthem, you know, I try to
get one of those three and ifI don't, then I'll wait. Totally
understand it. But there's a lotof thinking out there that if you're drafting
(51:30):
quarterbacks early, you don't know whatyou're doing. But those same people that
say that, I see them indrafts, and I've been seeing them drafting
quarterbacks early. So so yeah,it's interesting you say quarterbacks. You know,
people are talking about quarterbacks early. The QB two in this draft went
in the sixth round, Like, there's nothing wrong with taking the QB two
(51:53):
in the sixth round. You're rightthere. Safer, they get injured,
less, they're more consistent, youknow, they're they're that opportunity to get
your thirty five points in the bigmoney weeks and you need that. So
you know, the NFWC it dependson the rooms you're in, but mostly
over here, man, it's it'squarterback chicken. Like guys are waiting and
(52:14):
waiting. I bet you you know, Predator takes Josh Allen at the four
nine, right Patrick Mahomes went theseven to five. Wow, like it's
Hintin's twenty twenty. But every timeI take a quarterback, the first quarterback
off the board, I always regretit at the FWC because two rounds later
you can get Patrick Mahomes or JalenHurts or you know, Anthony Richardson.
(52:37):
Like that's where I don't care wherethey go. I just don't want to
be the first one, the firstguy to take one. So I think
you know, if you look atthe main event boards, all these red
stickers shift down quite a bit, right, Yes, yeah, they they
go even later, sop. Andthose are the guys that know, man,
(52:58):
and they them down even further. But you know, two years ago,
if you'll remember, the people thatwaited on quarterbacks got screwed big time.
I don't think it was last year. I think it was a year
before and that was like the firstyear I did it, and I said,
never again. Man, it washorrible. The quarterbacks you were picking,
(53:21):
you know, late in the drafts. None of them worked out.
And uh so I'm a little differentthan most and I understand everybody else is
thinking, but I'd love to getJosh Allen around five or six Mahomes and
seven. I take them in aheartbeat at seventh and seventh around Jesus,
(53:43):
yeah, seeing that load. Yeah, they're so safe like Mahomes or you
know Xavier Worthy or you know JacksonSmith and Jigba who I like this year.
But it's like Mahomes is going tobe fine. I agatten last year
it was a down year for himfantasy wise. This year, you guy's
got weapons galore, right, youknow, So I think, yeah,
(54:04):
I mean, I think there's justyou can't go wrong when these these quarterbacks
just go and antight ends go somuch on tight ends. I just thought
of something. There's a very prominentplayer that I've been in I've seen.
I've been in three or four draftswith him, and he's taken Kelsey and
Rent with his third pick in everysingle draft. So you know, that's
(54:29):
another guy that's getting pushed down tohe went he went to four or five
turn I mean super late. UhAgain, it's like everyone's waiting for that
person's a quarterback. Everyone's waiting forthe guy to take the tight end one
to the quarterback one and then they'regoing to go on a run of that
position. Although here Allen went inthe fourth and nobody bit at all.
(54:52):
So but yeah, it's a it'sit's just it's just just tough when you're
in these sharp rooms. I mean, Blake Koram is my guy who I
love. Russell Cruz must have known. I mean, he just sniped them
from me in the tent in thetenth round, heartbreak Hotel. I love
Blake Korams. That's a good pickby Russ there for sure. So there,
(55:15):
there, there we go. Iknow it's around ten and eleven,
but in Dan Djoku Bauer's double stackby or the double tap by Predator,
right like just waiting and waiting, and then you know what, I'm gonna
take tight end ten and tighten twelveinstead of wide receiver fifty nine or sixty,
like one of these guys are gonnabe in my flex. The chance
starts gonna be Boers, not youknow, Rashid Shaheed. So that's why
(55:37):
the interesting team threes punting QB orsorry, punting tight end I guess not
really considered a punt yet when twelveare gone, but by the time it
gets back to him, there mightbe fifteen or sixteen gone. So you
say you're on, the go aheadand make your pick. But what do
you think after you're done? Lookat team Meyer. You know he went
(56:00):
four running backs in his first sixWhat do you think about where he sits
now? I got with Jerry.I was sweating freaking bullets about Jalen Right
May making it back to me.I wanted. I wanted a right to
go with h Chen, So Igot that double Miami stack there, Uh,
piece of injury. I'm okay withbetting against moster moster. It's thirty
(56:22):
three, thirty two, thirty three. Miami has shown that they took two
running backs can smash every single weekin that offense. I'm okay. So
Jalen Right when I have Han JalenRight's important for me to get the fact
that I was able to get anRB forty five. Was sweating bullets man
there. So I'm happy that Charbonneis a fine pick two. Sharmony is
(56:44):
fine, but Right fits my teambuild better. Sorry, Jerry, what
was your question? Well, yeah, Sharburne, I think he's my most
own player. Yeah, I likeSharbonnay for sure. I've just been picking
member where I don't know why.But and as far as the chain and
right you got to take right.Yeah, in these best balls, these
few super flex and best balls Ido. I've got teams with a chain
(57:07):
mostered and ride. You know you'rehappy because you know they're going to produce,
well, two of them, twoof them every every every week,
every week. But yeah, myquestion was like Meyer. You know,
Meyer went four running backs in hisfirst six picks, like Predator. Ye,
so take a quick look at histeam and tell me what you're saying
(57:30):
after doing that. Yeah, Istill don't like it, but I like
it better than Predator because he's gotLamb. It's like a it's like a
Hero wide receiver build. And personallyI like Godwin a lot this season.
So the my my player take changesa little bit of my opinion on it
(57:50):
because I do like Godwin. Ithink I was going to be much better
moving back to the slot this year. So he's going to start four receipt
four running backs every week and thenhe has to start three Sutton Myers.
I might have again, I mighthave skipped over. I mean, Prescott
makes sense obviously with Ferguson and Lamb, but Goddard again, I like god
(58:14):
It or starting to eleven a lotbut I feel like you really got to
just start pounding receiver because Myers Myersare four and you're thin man bye Week's
injuries, it's gonna be really tough. You need to load up on receiver.
And I feel like maybe he shouldhave passed on Ferguson at eight eleven.
Let's see it Ferguson for like,I mean, again, the receivers
(58:36):
aren't great, but Brian Thomas aduneze part was just another dart throw at
a receiver there. He didn't knowhe was gonna get got in the eleventh.
I understand that, but I thinkyou just gotta throw freaking darts at
receiver if you're if you're gonna fadereceiver, you gotta be ready to just
throw darts at guys that you don'treally really like. Yeah, but remember
too, and the guys that arepicking two tight ends sometimes one of them
(59:00):
is there flex, yes, butthen I don't get in that situation.
But at the same people take laporteand then you know, pits and they're
thinking, I'm sure is I'll startone of them in the flex, right.
So but the problem is when youwhen you use your pick on like
(59:22):
Montgomery's your flex, he's your sixround pick or mixing, you know what
I mean, Like you've already gotyour flex already silent, like a rock
solid flex, not like a dart. Like I don't know Montgomery's gonna be
a solid flex player. So again, I like that god her in the
eleventh, But I really think you'vegot to just close your eyes and you're
not gonna like any of the receivers. It's receiver fifty nine, it's receiver
(59:44):
sixty. You're not gonna love them. But sometimes you just got to take
them because you have to, whichis hard to, which is what Snake
was saying, like you get behindthe eight ball and receiver you're you know.
And the other thing too, islike there wasn't value there. It's
not like all, oh my god, instead of mixing he took like a
chan fell to the end of thefourth or russhot White, like there wasn't
(01:00:07):
a player that he had to likethere was those crazy value that fell him.
Kelsey was was the value if youif you're value hunting, sure pick
yeah, I'm I'm on o'clock here, but that I don't know that that's
that's that's my thoughts there that's mythoughts. All right, there's a guy
(01:00:28):
standing out to me. I'll doit. M So the one, the
one bee, the one b inMinnesota, Ty Chandler, I love it.
Adam, you mentioned Snake, andI remember on your show with him
the other night he mentioned that lastyear he diversified his rosters and it was
(01:00:51):
his worst season he had ever hadand he wasn't going to do it.
He never done it before and he'snot gonna do it this year. I
just went and checked all my Midsteaksteams and man, I don't have any
studs, hardly twice. So I'vebeen subconsciously, you know, diversifying,
(01:01:12):
I guess because you know, Ihave very few guys more than one,
you know, two or three timesat the most. So what are your
thoughts? And I told Snake this, I said, Snake, what I
like to do is to first offI early, and then as we get
later on start picking my guys overand over and over. Right, getting
my guys, but early, youknow, we draft so early. Now
(01:01:36):
I don't want to have ten Midstakesteams with seven ced lambs on them,
right, because what if he goesdown? You just thrown you know,
four thousand dollars in the tank.So but I can understand picking your guys
over and over later on in theseats, and what do you think about
(01:01:57):
that? That makes a ton ofsense to you as far as like,
yeah, especially by like mid July, if you've got like seven seed lands
and gets hurtin training camp, you'relike, dang man, that sucks for
all those teams. So that thatthat makes a ton of sense. Yes,
Thak makes some good points. Yougot to do whatever works for you.
I remember a couple of years ago, I was super high on Cooper
(01:02:19):
Cup the year that he broke allthe records and was unbelievable. I was
very high on him, but Iwas I wanted to divert like I didn't
want forty percent Cooper Cup in thefourth round because of of of injury when
I todn't diversify, and then Iwon a ton of money that year,
but I felt like I could havewon more if I would if I would
have done with Snake was saying aplan of my flag. So the next
(01:02:42):
year I went, Oh, Iwent, I went overkill on the same
type of situation. I remember Iwas super high on like Good the other
one was, but Juju Smith Schusterin like the sixth round coming to to
Kansas City, and I'm like, you know what, I'm not gonna make
the same mistake I made with CooperCup and I'm adjust, I'm gonna go
get sixty percent Juju Smith Schuo orwhatever it was. But I'm sure it
(01:03:02):
wasn't sixty percent. But and hestunk. Now he was wide receiver eighteen
before he got hurt that year.I'll never forget this because I was trying
to defend it to myself. Butit's it's when you're good, when you're
when you're right on a guy andyou're and you go crazy on him,
it makes you a ton of moneyand it makes a ton of sense.
But when you're wrong on a guy, it can or two guys or three
(01:03:23):
guys, it can certainly hurt you, or not even wrong if the guy
gets hurt. Like and the injuriesto running backs Jerry, the last couple
of years to all players has justbeen insane. The injuries since COVID,
Like, I'm not going to talkingabout the COVID years since COVID. I
think it was last year. Icounted at one point through the first four
rounds of the draft, Like nineteenof the forty eight players drafted in the
(01:03:49):
first four rounds had missed like threegames or more through like ten weeks.
It was like, what do wedo? What are we even doing?
So it's like last year the yearbefore? Because I heard a stat on
the radio the other day they saidlast year there were seven hundred and fifty
fewer games missed due to injury thanthere were the year before. So maybe
(01:04:12):
it was two to two years ago. Yeah, man, two years ago
it was bad. Really, theinjuries were comical, right, and uh
so they're always going to be badin the NFL, and it seems to
get worse every year. But youknow, I was kind of surprised by
that stad I heard on the radiothat you know, seven hundred and fifty,
(01:04:33):
that's a significant number of fewer gamesmissed due to injury. Yeah yeah,
yeah, I mean hopefully that's asign of things to come. Look
out of it. And it suckstoo. Maybe it was just my players.
I remember Jerry, so I goto Are you going to Vegas this
year? Oh? Yeah, yeah, way, yeah, So I was
(01:04:54):
in I was Vegas last year.Loved it. My highest owned running back
in my entire portfolio of team wasfourth round, or maybe it was later,
but fourth or fifth round. JKDobbins had him everywhere. Comes out
opening game, scores a touchdown, looks incredible, as on his way into
scoring another one blows up his achilles. Jerry, I hadn't even left Vegas
(01:05:15):
yet. I'm sitting down watching inmy portfolio now with the number one one
portfolio player on my is is deadand gone. That just that crushed me,
especially seeing how they were using inGus Edwards with sixteen touchdowns, Like
what could have JK Dobbins have done? So I think it really just depends
on like who your guys are andif it's the year where they get hurt.
(01:05:38):
So I think that certainly has somethingto do with it. You know
what you probably did. You probablywent up to the counter and made some
more bets, not trying to makeup for what you just lost. At
least, yeah, at least ifthe guy goes down in the first week
of training camp, I can Ican burn some more money and do some
more drafts back up. But whenhe gets hurt five seconds into the season,
I haven't even left Vegas yet.Oh my god. Brutal. One
(01:06:00):
of the things I love about Vegasis I remember the party at Circle on
Thursday the I think it was thefirst night there, and you see all
these people, but you don't yousee I think I know that guy,
but I'm not sure because you neversee their faces, right, And so
there were people walking by and Isaid, God, damn, I know
(01:06:20):
I probably know this guy, butI'm afraid to say something. I don't
know who he is. And anduh, but then Adam walks back.
I said, well, I knowwho that is. There you go,
but there you go with the Ithink you had the back of course,
the backwards in the edge jersey. That was me, baby, that was
(01:06:43):
me, for sure. I wasrocking the gibs and people thought I was
People thought I was a Lions fan, like I'm a Bills fan. But
I love like every year I takeI buy the jersey of the guys that
I absolutely love. I had somuch gibs last year because I think it's
I think it's fun. So I'llhave to get eight change jersey this year
and wear that out there, uh, because I think it's it's just so
cool. And the Lions were playingthat that night, so I ended up
(01:07:03):
working out perfectly. But but yeah, and again, you know we're all
having we're all having a good timeout there. If anyone sees me recognized,
like, please stop me, becauseI love talking to you guys.
I just don't recognize a lot ofpeople. We're drinking, we're having a
good time, like, please stopme, Like Jerry, like a lot,
a lot a lot of guys didthat was that was really really cool
to talk to all you guys.I went rock Purty here QB two earlier
(01:07:28):
than I normally do because I tookRichardson. I don't you know, I
don't count on Richardson starting seventeen games. So I will take a quarter at
QB two earlier than I than Inormally would, just to lock that in.
So when Richardson games he doesn't play, I'm happy to throw in brock
Purty. Also have him stacked withGeorge Kittle, and then when Richardson played.
(01:07:48):
When Richardson starts, I'm happy toplay Richardson. So a little quarterback
run here. Say same with Jayand Daniel. I really like the Jay
and Daniels pick by something. Ireally like his instruction. Daniels the guy
that I really like too. Hetakes him as QB ton I think it's
great, and then he takes aquarterback a little bit earlier. He takes
two as his second quarterback is QBtwelve to secure in case Daniel's buster or
(01:08:12):
in case he gets hurt, tohave that second spot. What do you
think, Jerry, Well, exactly, if you take Richardson, you have
to go quarterback to earlier, andprobably the same thing with Daniels. But
again that goes back to well, man, if I picked my homes,
I don't have to waste to pickthere, right. You know, Holmes
are out point hurt, but that'syeah, you have to you have to
(01:08:34):
go pretty early with quarterback two. When you go Richardson and Daniels, I'm
thinking it's going to probably fall inthat same boat. I think you have
to go pretty quickly quarterback two.But if you look down here, quarterback
fourteen, perty, I mean I'dbe fine starting him as number one,
(01:08:58):
right so that these people say, wait on quarterbacks. There, here's the
proof right there. It's just I'venever I don't remember a year when there
were so many good quarterbacks down inthis level that I'm perfectly fine with starting
yeah, exactly. I think thekey to winning. You know, I
finished top five and a couple ofthese big tournaments a couple of times,
(01:09:21):
and my biggest years were years whereI waited on quarterback and got the guy
in the eleventh twelfth round. Ithink the year I finished top five in
the FFPC main event I had itwas the Christian McCaffrey Lamar Jackson blow up
years four or five years ago.I took Lamar like the eleventh round,
smashed big Pat Patrick Mahomes before hesmashed took him in the eleventh round.
(01:09:43):
Josh Allen eleventh, ten to eleventhround. You know you want to get
these guys later on, Anthony Richardsonlast year. You know it might be
Jaden Daniels this year. You wantto get these guys later later on that
can absolutely hit and you don't haveto spend a top six seven round pick
on it. You're the second highstakes, big time high stakes guy that
(01:10:04):
told me the same thing that hisbest when he goes back and looks,
his best teams are the teams wherehe waited on quarterback. Yeah, yep,
for sure that that jersey would looknice. Ray racist Anthony richards In
jersey. That would that that wouldlook look nice, that would look nice.
Maybe maybe I will maybe I'll getthem all. Maybe I'll get them
(01:10:26):
all. You'll think you're gonna getin the chain. Yeah, that what
the problem is. I'm a Billsfan, man, and I hate Miami,
so I don't even know. I'dwear it to Vegas and then I
and then I just leave it inthe garbage can in the way out of
town for sure. All Right,we're coming back on me again here,
so I'm gonna try to block inthe pick. But anything, anything stands
(01:10:46):
out you so far, Jerry,so far, We're almost We're almost done.
But what's what's any any picks?Any roster construction? What do you
think we'll know? Why don't wetake a second and look at it?
And I mean, how much timewe got. Yeah, let's go another
another round here and we'll we'll we'llbreak down each each team or we can
pick our favorite. Yeah, yeah, we we can. You know.
(01:11:09):
I think that's one thing that wemiss on some of these Red versus Blues.
These guys want to hear who Adamthinks has the best looking team,
and they probably don't care what Ithink. But I'm gonna tell them,
and so let's let's save a littletime to do that at the end,
you know, go through the teamsand say I think this is my favorite
(01:11:31):
and for sure, and you dothe same. Let me ask you something,
Spears and Pollard, what's going onthere with you? I don't know
yet if I'm picking. I'm takingPollard right right now, but that could
change in three weeks after camps startand we're starting to hear more on on
that. I really don't like thebackfields that are right now that we don't
(01:11:57):
have answers on, and the guysare going around the same the same time.
I really don't want to be forcedto kind of pick those because if
you pick wrong, it sucks. They're going late enough, it's the ninth
round for Pollard, it's fine, and I have some Pollared chairs. Usually
it's in a build similar to whatsquare Hammer's done. Usually it's Pollared as
my RB three or my RB twoeven, and then I load up on
(01:12:17):
a bunch of running backs. Sobut yeah, I just don't know what's
going on there Cincinnati. Same thing. That's tough. I don't know.
I don't know what's what's going onthere either. So those are you know,
I don't, I don't. Idon't really love those situations yet.
You know, if you get aninjury, Washington's in another way, if
you get an injury, you justthat could kind of clear it up.
(01:12:42):
But I would rather take a clearcut handcuff Jerry, like you know,
like a like a Right, likea Kendra Miller, like a Marshawn Lloyd,
like a Blake Korum, like aSharbonnet. I'd rather have those guys
where I know where I stand withthem. I'm never gonna start them,
but they're injury away from being atop ten running back, you know.
So those are the guys Tyler Lgier, Those are the kind of guys that
(01:13:05):
I would rather take rather than draftingTony Pollard and starting him week to week
not knowing what they're going to do. Yeah, I've seen, you know,
I study where people draft quite abit, and I've seen certain people
that always wait until Pollard's picked, and then they picked Spears. I've noticed
(01:13:28):
that trend. And just there they'reprobably know they can get one of them
and they like them, and sothey wait until the first one goes and
then they they they get the nextone and one thing about Pollard. You
know, he wasn't the same guylast year. And Pollard was a straight
bust last year. Ja, Yeah, he was one of the biggest bus
I don't think he was healthy, and that's what we heard at the end
(01:13:51):
of the year. But like,I feel like he was healthy enough to
like never be on the injury reportand play like, Okay, I think
all the running backs banged up,But I don't know. I just I
thought like he was a straight bust. And but yeah, you're you're right.
They came out afterwards he was playingwith an injury. So and now
you're getting him at a six rounddiscount. And you remember two years ago,
(01:14:15):
Das came out and said that wedon't want to give this guy full
load, right right, Everybody said, oh, he's so much better than
Zeke. You know, you gotto get him in here, and they
said, we don't think he andeverybody thought they were idiots, right,
and turned out they were right. You know, he's not a running back
on I mean, he's a guythat performs much better as that second option.
(01:14:43):
Yes, but I think he's youknow, I don't I'm not sure
about Tennessee's offensive line. You know, he was one of the worst last
year and it's not much better thisyear. But again, they're they're running,
shoot, they're spreading it out. They want receivers can catch. Obviously
they you can catch. That's whythey got rid of Henry and went Spears
and Collard. So so yeah,I think it's gonna be a toplutely different
(01:15:06):
offense. But why don't you giveus a team that you like? Is
I got a team I like? But I'm on the clock in two picks
here, So give me a teamthat you're that you like. Here,
will I figure out I'm gonna pickand that I got my team? Okay,
well I'm gonna go right to theyellow stickers at the top. You're
on the clock. Yeah. Ilove as always, me and Me and
(01:15:30):
Andrew think a lot I like.So I try to avoid drafting in his
drafts because we picked the same guys, so naturally I'm going to like Christian
Kirk's growing because those are my guys. And that's why I don't draft with
him, because he picks my guysall the time, and probably they're my
(01:15:50):
guys because I've listened to him overthe years. But I like his team.
I love Kincaid as I think Haydenmight be the tight end one when
it's all said and done. I'mnot as high on my company as some
are. I know doctor Rhodo's highon him, and Harry Mary Monks has
(01:16:13):
been drafting Mrvy. I know Andrewlikes him. I like his team.
I go over to another five yellowsticker team, Mad Dog Dad's Hill Pittman
Evans. Evans is just remarkable.I mean, I mean, think about
what that guy's done every year.I think he's finished and he just catches
(01:16:36):
twelve touchdowns in twelve hundred yards.McLaurin. I like him. He's you
know, I think he's sneaky goodthis year. Mark Keith Brown. I
don't know to pick him or Rice, but I like to have one of
them. I hope I hit right. His running backs, Jones, their
(01:16:58):
spears, Uh, he's he's gottwo. I don't know he's got one
starter, right, but Spears BrownEdwards, well, I guess Edwards is
a starter, so he might strugglea little bit there. But I love
the five wide receivers start. Imean, Jerry, he might have one
(01:17:21):
starter, he might have four, right, at some point he might have
four, you know, so youand I love Dubbs or Dobbs how you
said he's I think he might endup being there. You know. I
love Red also, but I thinkDobbs is a lot better than people think
(01:17:42):
he is. So those, Imean, right off the without digging too
much into it, those are thetoo. And Andrew's gonna cuss me out
for picking his team, But Ilike those two teams there so far.
The team I like the most issomething in the Orange. Something in the
Orange. I'm glad you didn't pickit was I was nervous. Something in
(01:18:08):
the Orange. I like the players, and I like the the build.
I love Jefferson, Wattle and neighborsthere find great. I don't love Cook,
but I like the build of takinga running back there. I love
Higgins, who I receiver thirty thirtysix. I would have absolutely taken him
two picks later, and usually Iget Godwin or Higgins in the fifth,
(01:18:28):
which is why I ended up withmy first share of DeAndre Hopkins in this
because I kind of was forced tolove Jonathan Brooks as the RB twenty there,
you know, in the sixth, sixth round. I think he's a
late season second half of the season. Guy, that's gonna smash Singletary the
RB one there. I'm on theclock here coming up. But I love
Jaydon Daniels, I love the build. I love a lot of his players.
(01:18:51):
His or her players are my playersas well. So I really think
that something in the Orange did areally good job doing that for make your
pick, Yes, sir, I'mgonna I am gonna do that. And
you know what I like about hisdraft to is he got Hubbard. You
gotta do that when you take theBrooks. Yes, yeah, because Hubbard
(01:19:12):
might start the year and then Brookstakes off for sure. For sure.
Before we go, Jared, Iwant to talk about some of these tools
I have over here as premium subscribers. Man, They've got this this ADP
board that I'm gonna share that Ialways use. I definitely use it a
lot tonight. DADP board. Itshows you the ADPs and as the players
(01:19:35):
get drafted, the light players hereare the ones that I've drafted where they
normed your ADPs. This is asuper useful tool during the draft. You
don't have to go to another websiteto find out what's going on on this
website. It's all right here inthe draft room as a premium tool,
very beneficial to help you draft teamsby also getting value as well. I'm
(01:19:56):
gonna come back to here. Surethe seven stead you could all also do
a DP list stacking tool. Wewere talking about stacking, you know,
So you can come here and say, hey, I took I took b
Jon Robinson in the first round. You can look up your own uh that
my last name. You can lookup your own players or any players Robinson,
(01:20:17):
Bjon Okay. I took Jon Robinson, and then I also took a
Chan uh Devin Ah Chang. Sothere's only two other teams in this whole
tournament that have Bijon and a Chanthere on the same team. So it
can it helps you build unique, unique rosters. It helps you be able
(01:20:38):
to do things like that. I'mtrying to think, I took Drake Drake
London. Let me see if there'sa if there's a team that has London
on in there as well, justto just to see how unique my team
is. So there's only one otherb Jon Robinson, Devin a Chan Drake
London team in the entire tournament. And when you're playing in tournaments, man,
that's what it's about. Having theteams so that you're not building the
(01:21:00):
same team as somebody else and thenyou're splitting money with them or whatever.
Like. You want to have uniqueteams at the end. So this tool
again, incredible tool. No othersite has this this That's what I was
fixing to say. Is there anyother site that has this? Nope,
there's there's other there's other sites thathave sister sites that do stuff like this
for them, but not in thedraft room. I mean, it's freaking
(01:21:21):
incredible. Uh stuff. Cheat sheets, cheat Yeah, they've got They've got
the cheat sheet here where you canput you can bring it. You can
bring in your own cheat sheet, create your own cheat sheet. But here
again it will show you who you'redrafted in green, who's available, you
know the red guys are taking.I mean, these tools are just the
best, the best and so andI'm not just saying it because I'm here
(01:21:44):
at the site. I mean, find me something else that that it doesn't
say, well, it doesn't exist, so gotta be uh that that cheat
sheets free, but to get theother tools. I was just showing you.
It's part of the it's part ofthe premium subscription, So go on
there, sign up for that. It's especially if you're a high volume drafter,
high stakes drafter. It's totally worthit. I think it's forty nine
(01:22:08):
ninety nine look or fifty nine nineninety nine. I want to them.
Either way, it's totally worth it. You need to have it. It's
early enough in the season, youknow where you can still get your money's
worth out of it. Yeah, there's nothing that compares. I don't think
Predators, I thought, I thinkhe's a newer team. And he drafted
(01:22:29):
the other night and one of thefirst things he posted on discord is how
good this draft software is is byfar the best he had seen. So
it's so good. It's so good, and and and the web version of
it is great too. It's onone page like if you if you're you
know, like me, I'm draftingall the time, I'm always on the
fly, I'm coaching, I missI met You're going on there from the
(01:22:50):
web based it's all on one screen. You don't have to pop from screen
to screen to draft and look atthe draft board. It's all right there.
It's super clean. They've really donea really good job over at the
last the last two or three years. So kudos to Scott and the crew.
That is an excellent job. So, Jerry my man, thank you
so much for joining me tonight.I know we've been going for almost an
(01:23:11):
hour and a half here, soyou know these are just kind of late
round picks for all these for allthese dudes. Are you in our v
B three? A you remem versusBlue three by any any chance? Now,
I've always in Red Versus Blue one, and I think that's enough.
The last one I want to dobecause that kind of makes me mad that
they do it two and three, because because to me, Red Versus Blue
(01:23:36):
one is my favorite draft every year, and I'll do sixty drafts, yes,
and so I'm a big Red versusBlue guys. So yeah, I
usually don't join those because I'm protestingand protesting. All right, Well,
I'm so you're you're on here tonightto talk about your protest of Red Versus
Blue two. But I enjoy watchingyou guys talk about him and Adam.
(01:23:59):
Your podcasts seem to be getting better. Ever, I wasn't able to watch
a lot last year because I wasworking a lot overtime, but I've been
watching them this year and they seemto be getting better every time. So
yeah, thank you, thank youso much. We're always trying to give
the give back to the guys.I love doing draft I love talking drafts,
doing drafts whatever. I also Ialso do a podcast for everyone over
(01:24:20):
at the Deep End ff one onTwitter. Check that out. It's the
Deep End Podcast and you can findme at Adam Underscore, crowd worse I'm
doing. I do a podcast andtalk high stakes, high volume. That's
what I'm about. That's my love. I've been doing this since I was
a kid. I absolutely love it, so it's fun. It's fun doing
(01:24:42):
it. Let me make my pickhere. I'm babbling on im like Malock.
I Cooley a lot this year asa rookie, but I think Osborne
might have a shot there to bethe wide receiver one. But we'll believe
it or not. Whatever. It'sthe seventeenth round. So Jerry dude,
thanks so much for joining me.You're welcome on anytime. We'll definitely do
another one of these before the seasonstarts, and I'll see when are you
(01:25:05):
getting out to Vegas? The shityou're coming out for the whole weekend.
I'm won't be there Wednesday night andstay and watch games Sunday and then leave
late Sunday. I'm going Thursday morningto Monday afternoon. I want to watch
the games on Sunday. I'm gonnaI'm gonna run a little VIP area at
Circa and just kick back, relaxwith the boys. That's the way to
(01:25:28):
do and sell it. Yeah, leave in Monday's better, but go on
to Houston. There's a light flightVegas, so I can watch just about
every game Sunday and most of thegame Sunday night at the air. My
son, my wonderful oldest son,is birthday September eleventh, so some years
I really struggle to get out there. I've never missed his birthday, but
(01:25:50):
