Groundless a Justified podcast. This isa podcast where we watch every episode of
Justified and then come on here andtalk about it. I'm Chris Batman is
Randy God tell me this episode wasn'tlike an episode of the OC. It
kind of was totally was. It'sa it's a great episode. It's it's
(00:55):
it's another another fantastic episode. Weactually have an OC connection with our guests
this week, and I'll mention that. But yeah, I mean, like
it's quite the interesting little you know, quasi bottle episode. Like two thirds
of the episode takes place inside thepizza portal, and yeah, it was
so good and like the you know, because we take this long break right
(01:19):
with all the other stuff, butjust these next these episodes and just you
see that pay like the build upto whatever it finally come, you know,
the ending, the conclusion. It'sfantastic. I love this. We
only have four left after this,I know, I know, and that's
because this is season six, episodenine, have Justified an episode called Burned,
(01:42):
and that episode originally aired March seventeenth, twenty fifteen. That's the one
we're here to talk about this week. And like we always do about this
time, don't forget subscribe, rateand review or as I heard somebody,
as I heard somebody say it ina different podcast recently, five and a
sub five and a sub five starsand a subscription. That's all we're asking
(02:05):
for. So I hit that littlesubscribe button in the app and give us
five stars in a rating. Andyou know, if you, if you
have the time, take the timewrite a few words, give us a
written review. It is really appreciatedand it really does help people find the
show, So thank you in advance. So, as I said, we're
here to discuss episode called Burned. In this episode written by three writers for
(02:30):
the first time, I think inin Justified that we've seen so far,
three credited writers Dave Andren who weknow, Leonard Chang who we also know,
and Jenny d Armatt. Now sheonly has three writing credits. The
other two are an episode of Dollhouse, which was the Joss Whedon series of
(02:53):
Fox that only lasted for a coupleof seasons, with the yeah Faith Faith,
Yeah, yeah yeah Faith from Buffyand the the uh Asian girl from
uh uh Firefly. I think right? Maybe maybe not? Oh, Summer
(03:15):
she was an Asian Summer Summer Cloudwas not Asian, I don't think.
So, Okay, maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. Edit that out.
I have no idea actually if sheis or not. I thought she
was. But maybe I'm wrong.Oh, maybe that's who it was.
(03:39):
Maybe that's who. No, no, no, that's character. Yeah,
I don't know. I don't know. Maybe she's not in it. Maybe
I'm thinking of somebody else. Butanyway, Dollhouse and then glitch Text,
which I've never heard of before. But but she's typically credited as a writer's
assistant, so uh so she's anassistant to one of the writers on the
(04:00):
staff or the head writer potentially onthe staff. And they gave her writing
credit on this episode, so shemust have made a significant contribution to the
script. So good to see heron here. Directed by Don Kurt,
who we know from prior episodes AreJustified. And then, of course our
guest star this week, We've gotto introduce Boone Jonathan Tucker. He's our
(04:25):
new enforcer for Avery Markham, andhe's been in a bunch of stuff.
You've definitely seen him if you've watchedany kind of premium television. He's been
in seven episodes of Westworld, tenepisodes of Snowfall, played a pilot in
that Parenthood. He was in tenepisodes of the Parenthood series. He was
(04:50):
on Person of Interest, Criminal Minds, The Root. He was in a
movie called The Ruins, which isa horror film, The Black Donnelly's which
is which was a show that Ithink only ran for thirteen episodes, but
he was He was the main character, like the main lead character in that
show. And Olivia Wilde also inthat show. That's our OC connection,
(05:16):
so was she was in that showas well. He was also in a
couple other Six Feet Under CSI andthen movies The Virgin Suicides he was in,
and also Sleepers, which I don'tknow if you remember that. That's
the Robert de Niro Kevin Bacon onewhere it starts out there are a bunch
of kids and I don't remember exactlywhat happens, but they all end up
(05:39):
in juvie together and they get theyget assaulted by a guard in Juvie and
then when they're older, they killhim and it's about that, and it's
Robert de Niro and Kevin Bacon whenthey're older, and he played one of
the young one of the kids inthe on the first half of that movie.
(06:00):
Al Right, I think I sawthat movie in the theater. It's
a very disturbing film. I hadno idea what I was in for.
All I saw was Robert DeNiro andI was like, Oh, I'm gonna
go see that. And she's goinga movie about child rape in prison.
And that was less and Revenge Murderer. It wasn't that I expect it.
(06:21):
So all right, Well that getsus through our episode basics. So let's
get into let's take a quick tripback to the week of March seventeenth,
twenty fifteen. And in order todo that, we need our Dolorean.
Are you telling me that you builta time machine kind of a delaureo.
We did because we always like toexamine the context of the popular culture at
(06:44):
the time as we look at theseepisodes. So our number one movie Cinderella,
that's the live action one with LovelyJames. It grossed eighty seven million
dollars, which is a big increasefrom last week's number one movie, which
I think was eighteen or something. So Disney movie. Yeah, yeah,
(07:05):
it's the live action. It's thelive action version of Cinderella, like they
did the live action version of TheLittle Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast with
with what's her name Hermione it was. I think it was the first one
they did of those that kind oftranslated she's look at the names on this.
It's directed by Kenneth Branna Yeah,oh my god, and then Kate
(07:30):
Lanchett Lily James the mouse. Themouse attracts talent. What can we say?
Yeah, jeez alight. Also debutingthis week run All Night, which
I haven't seen. I don't thinkI've even heard of it. It grows
to fourteen million, though, andit stars Liam Neeson and Ed Harris.
I had no idea that this movieexisted. I don't think Liam Neeson's Liam
(07:54):
Neeson's yeah, Liam Neeson's that's yeah. And then Uptown Funk of course our
number one top forty song again thisweek in its tenth week. Now,
I will note we are on ourninth episode, so it's been nine weeks
of Justified and ten weeks of UptownFunk so far in twenty fifteen for the
(08:16):
for Americans, And again I suspectwe're going to be there the rest of
the way, but I'm not spoilingit for myself, so I haven't looked
ahead. Oh and we have anorganized crime story this week, so,
as you'll recall if you've been listeningto the podcast this season, we will
occasionally hit on a lesser known organizedcrime group to kind of honor our Dixie
(08:43):
Mafia friends, which are being featuredthis week. So we're going to learn
about Los Zetas. So they area drug cartel, Mexican drug cartel.
They are the third largest Mexican drugcartel behind Guadalajara and the Golf Cartel.
Now now the Guadalajara cartel is brokenup into three kind of main branches.
(09:07):
It's got Siniloa, wars An Tijuana. But the golf cartel is just the
golf cartel, and it started asthe Zetas. Lolos Zeta started as a
hit squad for the golf cartel. They were the enforcers essentially, and by
two thousand and three there were overthree hundred of them, and they split
away from the Golf cartel in twentyten. Violently there is as you can
(09:35):
imagine, there was a war essentially, and there always is, but I
mean there was an active war withthe cartel splitting away, and our FEDS
have called them the most technologically advanced, sophisticated, and dangerous cartel operating in
Mexico. They are particularly brutal, even by the standards of Mexican cartels,
(10:00):
which you know are pretty brutal. They are right up there with our friends
in ISIS and and other organizations likethat. There's a story I read,
and I was researching this. Therewere a few stories I read, including
one that involved them murdering a cophis wife who was also a cop,
(10:20):
and then burning their house down withthree children inside. That was a cheery
one to read, but this onein articular stood out to me. They
stopped a bus that was full ofmigrants in Mexico and made they raped all
the women, of course, andthey made all of the men fight gladiator
(10:43):
style combat to the death. Andwhat happened was the winners got conscripted to
work for the zetas as assassins, and everyone else got murdered, So talking
about a recruiting employ Yeah, exactly. Geez. So they also make decapitation
(11:05):
videos. They're they're pretty awful.Uh. And and what's what I found
really interesting about this is that noone knows well, no one when I
say no one publicly, no oneknows who their leaders are because they are
constantly killed or arrested. The lastknown leader of the Zetas was from like
twenty fifteen or something like. Noone knows who's running the show over there,
(11:28):
and it's super secretive and underground. And yeah, because can you imagine
that chart that's on somebody's wall withall the strings. Oh, it's just
a question mark at the top.Yeah, done, Ye, then somebody's
yeah, some office is I don'tknow, some FED office or something exactly,
(11:50):
the DEA or whatever. Yeah, yeah, that's probably exactly what's going
on. You know. It's Uh, when I was reading about these guys,
I was like, well, Ican understand why all of their leaders
have been killed or arrested, becauselike, these guys are I mean,
you talk about lawless, right,It's like they don't they don't respect any
(12:11):
rules. There are just no therethere are no rules of engagement. They
just do whatever they want. Andyeah, yeah, those those guys,
those guys don't last very long.Usually the guys who respect some rules,
the government kind of will back offand allow them to operate a little bit.
But yeah, but guys who whokill civilians regularly for fun, they
(12:33):
don't last very long out there.Do you ever see that movie Sacario?
I did not know. I havenot. You should watch it. It's
very good and it's just yeah,it'll I mean just it's everything about it
is well done, and uh,it's just a it's a very well done
(12:54):
movie. In the ending, I'mreally what they expecting. I'll just tell
you that, all right, cool, Yeah, I'm gonna check it out
up. It's definitely on my listof movies to see. Yeah, I
don't know. I think the lastdrug trafficking movie I really saw, or
last meaningful one, well, therewas that the one with Tom Cruise a
few years ago where he was runningOh yeah, yeah American Maid, Yes,
(13:16):
American made, that's the one.But I think Traffic was probably the
last kind of Mexican specific drug moviethat I saw twenty years ago or whatever.
And it took place here that whichwas why it was kind of yeah,
but it was kind of a itwasn't a very good movie. I
didn't did you watch? Well,I was gonna say, Netflix has the
like the Narcos series, and thenhe has they have that one with the
(13:39):
not Hillbillies, but it was inthe Appalachian Oh really Ozark, Yeah,
the Ozark. It's not Appalachians,it was Ozark. Oh they have they
have a Narcos Ozark. Oh no, no, they have. There's a
Narcos Mexico. There's a Narcos thattook place in the Columbia. And then
Ozark's on Netflix. Also oh ohyeah, yeah, but that deal's dealt
(14:01):
with the cartels, right, well, yeah, yeah, Well I thought
about Ozark because I was as Iwas reading about these guys, and I
thought about kind of like the theleader of that cartel. His position was,
Hey, the last thing we wantis the attention of the Americans down
here, because if we kill Americans, or we kill in America, they
are going to come here and theyare going to fuck us up. So
(14:22):
let's not do that. I rememberthat that was a major plot line in
that show. So yeah, well, the thing with Mexico is did you
know that there's only one legal gunstore in Mexico and it's in Mexico City.
Well, I knew guns are generallyillegal in Mexico, right, there's
big signs as you're getting right acrossthe border that's firearms and ammunition illegal in
(14:46):
Mexico, you know. Blah blah, yeah, turn around. Yeah,
Well they have something akin to theSecond Amendment down there. They yeah,
they do, but somehow they've beenable to make it so that, you
know, through the taxes or throughmaking it impossibly all these hoops that you
have to jump through to uh,so that there's only one gun store in
Mexico and somehow all like normal peopledon't have guns, but all the cartel
(15:11):
members do. Well, that's mostlythat's mostly thanks to us, right yeah,
well okay, yes, it wasfast and fast and furious. Is
that what it was called? Yeah? Yeah. But even then, like
even maybe about ten or even fifteenyears ago, there was a town down
in the southern part of Mexico andthere was a and basically what this town
did and it was it was litby this doctor. He was like a
(15:35):
medical doctor, and basically they kickedall the cartels out and they just took
the guns from the cartel members andkicked them, kicked them out because they
were like sick of it. Andthen the federal the Federals were or were
so corrupt that they like they sawthat they viewed this as a not sedition.
What does it not? Trees Revolution? Yeah, like a silver Yeah
(16:00):
yeah yeah, so yeah, soI don't know, I think that got
that doctor. He actually ended upgoing to jail. I believe that guy's
name, doctor Morellus. But butthe whole point of it was that,
you know, they were they did, were able to kick the cartels out
of that part of the of thecountry down there, which was I thought
was kind of interesting. Yeah yeah, and took like you basically made a
(16:22):
little citizen militia and kicked them all. Yeah exactly. Basically they have a
militia that a little Mexican tea party. Yeah. Yeah, well Mexican Siesta.
I don't know, but yeah,I mean it's such an interesting like
(16:42):
country that we don't really hear aboutas far as like because it is a
narco stated I mean it was runby the cart Wells and uh, but
yeah, I mean it's it's afascinating history that that. Yeah, I
don't know. It's just something thatwe and it's just like right across the
border, so it's like thirty milesaway from where I sit, where I'm
sitting exactly exactly. Just it's sowild. Whenever I think about that,
(17:07):
it's always like, oh, yeah, if I drive thirty miles, I
could, you know, really standa chance of getting my head got off
at some point. God, Iremember going down there though. I used
to love going down to you know, you go down to well, just
down Baja really and then beautiful andlobster and and everything else for a dollar
(17:29):
or whatever. Yeah, fish tacosI fish talk was always round me of
summer, summertime down in Baja. It's just I don't know, it's fantastic.
Anyway, that was a digression. There we go. Yeah, you
got to hear us talk about Mexicofor a few minutes. But yeah,
let's get to Let's get to theepisode because there's so much good stuff going
on here. So we open upwith Marshalls. They're discussing Ava being flipped
(17:52):
and Vasquez comes in and he's unhappywith Raylan because he heard about the ward
scheme that Raylan ran and he's likeOh, what a surprise that you know,
you gave Boyd Crowder one hundred thousanddollars and now all of a sudden,
your informant flipped. Weird, weirdthat that would happen. And it's
(18:12):
slowly dawning on him that there mightbe the possibility that Raylan might just be
on the take or something, orin somebody's pocket. Yeah, yeah,
exactly, at he's looking for theoutside looking in. That's what it looks
like. It certainly does, right, It's like he just funneled one hundred
grand a void. And by theway, his ex girlfriend is their informant
(18:33):
and he's managing her and now she'sflipped. Yeah. No, it looks
bad for and Raylan's taking it assuch a personal affront, and it's like,
dude, you got to look atthis from a from an outside,
impartial perspective. You right now arenot looking good. Now. There's a
scene at the end of the showwhere where Rachel is yelling at him,
(18:57):
yeah, because you haven't brought meyet, And I thought that was so
kind of stereotypical, like police captainin any movie, like you've got twenty
four hours or all have your badge, like it was so perfect. Yeah,
I just realized that that's funny, don't coming back? Yeah, exactly,
(19:22):
Like, what do you want meto do? I try. I
set everything up exactly the way itshould have happened, and Boyd failed to
execute. Like what am I supposedto do? Like help him acquire the
C four So you can blow abigger hole, come on, guys.
So uh yeah, And Vasquez's pointis that without the testimony of his criminal
associates, he's going to have troublegetting a Rico conviction. And he's probably
(19:45):
right about that. You know,we talked a little bit about Rico,
and getting someone to flip makes allthe difference for identifying the organization because you
need someone who can testify to theactual organized aspect of it. U.
You can have a lot of evidenceabout the crimes that were committed, but
if you don't have somebody testifying tothe organization and the structure, you have
(20:07):
a really hard time proving a recocase. So Selvasca's is right here,
and then Art chimes in. SoArt's back in the office sort of,
I guess back on duty. Idon't know, it's weird. Rachel has
still chief. Yeah, but Art'sin chief around. It's it's a very
(20:30):
unusual sort of thing because Art andRaylan go visit Win Duffy because Art identifies
win Duffy as a potential CI inthe Crowder camp and after a little bit
of police brutality, they they havea conversation with Whinn and I have a
clip of that here. Jesus Christ, you're supposed to meet a grona.
(20:53):
You're only as young as you feel. Duffy, take a list. Where
did you get this? They camefrom an old time US attorney named Simon
Poole and were sealed about fifteen yearsago. This is bullshit. I want
to go back in the tenne Ihad an agreement with your people who had
mine involved, and if you gota problem, you take it up with
(21:15):
him. He's dead. Well, that's unfortunate. He's murdered around the same
time those records were sealed. Wonderif that's a coincidence. Congratulations, you
got me. I was a rat. The ship was sinking and I didn't
want to go down with it.So what we're here to judge? We
just want you to do it again? And how But if I ask you
(21:37):
to lick my balls how would youlike to go see the school counselor how
would you like to shuck my bys? What did you sorry? I'm Saddy,
I'm sorry. Actually what I saidwas, Holly, you like to
shuck my bus? In that case, we're probably gonna leave. And this
is not a civil conversation. ButI'd hate to see the information in these
(21:59):
files get leaked, Like what wouldhappen if Katin Hale found out that you're
the one who got her husband killed. I didn't know there was a statute
of limitations on the gratitude of lawmantowards old informants. Well there is,
and it is you burn me,I'm dead. That's a possibility. Pretty
much. Wait, just wait, maybe there's away I can help you out
(22:26):
again. So, if you didn'tlearn the lesson from season four of The
Wire, season six, have justifiedtells you don't get involved with the cops.
They cannot be trusted, like whenDuffy gave him all this information and
now they're blackmailing him to threaten toexpose him unless he gives them more information,
(22:49):
which is what the criminals would do. Also, in there, you
heard my favorite clip from the SouthPark movie, the scene after they've seen
the Terrence and Philip movie and they'reswearing in class and carbon. Every time
he pulls out the megaphone and doesthat, I'm sad. I'm sad.
(23:12):
I die laughing every single time.It cracks me up. I think it
was funny that Winn was wearing. It looks like Appear would be wearing female
underpants he was wearing. He waswearing a He was wearing like a disposable
underwear that you wear when you gotanning, so like if you get if
(23:36):
you get spray tanned, or yougo to a tanning bed or whatever,
they'll give you like this disposable sortof thong underwear so that you can get
an all over tan. And thatlooks to be what he was wearing.
Was it a P was it aMaybe it was that a hotel then I
guess it was. I was inthe hotel room. Okay, yeah,
okay, jeez, that it waswell, I guess it would be female
(24:02):
underwear, no, or just theway it was cut. Yeah, I
mean it's yeah. I guess tothe extent that a that a thong is
female underwear, I would say,or you know whatever that is tea Bac
or whatever you call it. Yeah, it's female underwear. It's yeah,
it was. It was definitely definitelyon the girlier side of things. And
(24:26):
yeah, I mean just arts reaction, never never needing to see that,
absolutely hilarious. I also wondered whenI saw that, like if if the
actor has those tattoos or if theattention to detail on the show is so
good that they etched like he hasone in Latin on the underside of his
bicep, and then there was anotherone like up on his up on his
(24:49):
shoulder, and I wondered, like, oh, is that the actor's tattoos
or is that like the did theydo that for his character? And I
have no idea hmm, I didn'tlook it up. I should have looked
it up, but I didn't.But anyway, so Mikey uh so.
So after that conversation with Art andRaylan, Win breaks the news to Mikey
(25:17):
that Hey, I was a ratand I'm going to be a rat again
and you're gonna have to come alongon this trip with me, and Mikey
is unhappy about that. Mikey sayshe has a code and he doesn't believe
in snitching, and when correctly pointsout that, Hey, do you think
that Catherine Hale, Avery Markham, and Boyd Crowder wouldn't snitch on you in
a minute to save their own asses, because they absolutely would. I think
(25:45):
that. Well, yeah, itreally bothers Mikey, as we find out
later. Yeah, yeah, it'san important sort of conversation, right,
and he you know, you seeMikey at a few times during this episode
disgusted. It would be the orthat I would use with when having to
kind of cowtow and capitulate to railin an arts demands. Yeah. Yeah,
(26:10):
he wants to be a criminal. He's not here to work with the
cops. And when you know pointsout, hey, look, this is
what you have to do to survive. And if TV has taught us anything,
it's taught us that. Yeah.Look, if you're in organized crime
or in any type of significant criminalenterprise, you have a weird, weird
(26:32):
relationship with the cops where you givethem information to keep them off your ass.
And Tony Soprano did it, youknow it, the Ozark, Jason
Bateman and Ozark did it. Everybodydoes it. Yeah, yeah, so
it's a weird sort of dichotomy. There's always well, there's always the informant
(26:53):
or the person who's on the insidein real life, even it was a
whitey bulger was right, Yeah fortwenty plus years or whatever. Yeah,
yeah, but yeah, it's butthat's the way. That's how you that's
how they get you, right ifyou once you get compromised, whether it's
you get have something held over yourhead for a crime that you did commit,
(27:15):
and they have you dead to rightsand you have to flip on your
what on the people above you?So that's just the way it works.
Yep, and then then you're theirsforever. Yep. Yeah. Yeah,
that's why the I don't remember whatthe cornbread mafia, I think it was
right, the the the pot growersthat they weren't able to ever convict Oh
(27:37):
yeah, that's right, all becausethey all held their all, held the
line and didn't rat and didn't flip. Yeah yeah, so uh yeah and
and so uh so when and Mikeyare off to Harlan to have a chat
with with Boyd and Ava to essentiallyaccelerate the process for for the robbery because
(28:03):
Raylan is impatient, and Vascutor isimpatient, and Rachel is everybody's impatient no
one's willing to wait a little whilefor for their tree to bear fruit.
They're gonna They're gonna kill the girlsinstead. This is over the course of
how in real in showtime, acouple of weeks, it's a couple of
yeah, it's it's a couple ofweeks, right. And you know these
(28:25):
guys aren't local cops, right. This is not a situation where everybody was
like, Oh, we're gonna bustthe sky in a month and a half
and we're going to have you knowthis forty seven rego predicts ready to go.
These investigations take years sometimes and uh, and so for something to wrap
up this quickly is crazy, crazyfast. And so while Mikey and Wynn
(28:49):
are off to Harlan, Avery andCatherine are having a discussion about his planned
party in Harlan, which Catherine's notsuper and used about. But there's a
knock the door and SeaBASS comes in. He is he is unhappy, he
wants more money. He's got agun and he holds it on Avery and
(29:11):
uh and Catherine and at one point, you know, they don't have anymore.
They don't have the kind of cashshe's looking for, and h and
Catherine says, hey, wait,I've got this diamond bracelet in my bag
that might do the trick, becausehe wants her ring instead, and she's
like, oh, well, maybenot the ring, but but I have
this diamond bracelet that might do thetrick. She goes, He lets her
(29:32):
go and get her purse, andof course she's got a revolver in her
purse that she shoots him with throughher purse. And he is as surprised
as anyone that had happened. Ilike, the actor did a really good
job of like, what the helljust happened to me? Like he was
very shocked that he had just beenshot in the chest and h and Markham
(29:52):
is also very surprised at what happened, and he gives her a look and
says, hey, I thought I'veseen all your tricks, and then gives
her this look like I don't knowwhat I have here exactly. I'm gonna
have to think about this a littlebit. You think that they had sex
like immediately in the next room orsomething like that, Well, you know
(30:15):
what I noticed on the on thethird time I watched this, What I
noticed was that she when she callsand speaks in French for the cleanup crew.
She goes and like leans against thewall and the desk where all of
the viscerara is from the guy shejust blew his head off. She's like
sitting on it in her leather dressor whatever. It's wild and so I,
(30:37):
yeah, absolutely they probably did itright there. And this is like
the third or wait, because Pickerwas in that room too, he got
in the season. Yeah, there'sa lot of dead bodies in that room.
God, that whole hotel is haunted. I remember Mikey got his ass
beeat there too, by by DarrylA junior. That's right. Yeah,
(31:06):
he's probably one of those higher endhotels. Oh, no, it definitely
is. It's a very nice hotel. Yeah. So I wondered, like
if that diamond bracelet that she wasgoing to give him was the fake one
that she swaps out of the jewelrystore. Yeah, that's a good call.
Actually, that's a good that's agood pull because I didn't even think
(31:29):
about that. I forgot that here'sthis, here's this fake diamond bracelet.
And I wonder what would have happenedif, like she had given him the
fake diamond bracelet and he had immediatelyidentified that it was fake because he was
probably running diamonds in fucking Afghanistan ora rack or whatever. But then we
get Ava and Boyd and so Avaand Ama. Ava admits to Boyd that
(31:52):
she told Raylan about the mine.Boyd starts to freak out, then realizes,
hey, wait, it doesn't reallyAdder. We're still we're going to
do it anyway. I'm doing itanyway right. He doesn't care, and
because he thinks he's smarter than thecops, which he might be. And
when they're having that conversation, Wincomes in and basically pushes the schedule forward
(32:16):
at the behest of the marshall. So he tells Boyd Markham's going to move
the money, which means Boyd hasto get it right now. You have
to go tonight and get the moneybecause otherwise it might not be there.
Boyd realizes that Raylan might be behindit, tells Ava that they need to
play there get out of jail freecard, and they have a conversation about
(32:37):
how they can only do it once, and they decide that it's time to
do it, and then Boyd goesto Zachariah and says, hey, remember
how I said two days before.Well now it's like four hours. So
you got to get through this anduse as much dynamite as you need.
So Zachariah is digging with the andwiring up the dynamite and wiring the fuses
(33:01):
and get ready to h to blowthe blow the foundation under the under the
portal. UH. So Win reportsback to UH to Raylan and Art,
who are just outside of Harlan waitingon this on the freeway. Uh reports
(33:22):
back that hey, the seed's beenplanted. And then and then the marshals
are like, oh, you knowwhat, we kind of think you need
to go along because you know,we want you, we want to know
more information, So why don't yougo? Why don't you insist on going
along with him? And he's like, ah, sure that's gonna work,
and and and they're like, well, instead, you can just tell us,
you know, what's he going todo, how he's going to do
(33:42):
it, what weapons he's going todo, exactly when he's going to do
it all. Raylan's like listing offthis laundry list of stuff and Win's like,
oh wait, final, I'll justgo along, Like yeah, you
know that. It's not not agreat situation for Win right now. He
is not a happy yeah. Uh. Then we get Loretta, and we
(34:04):
haven't seen Loretta in several weeks, and we got a little clip of Raylan
telling her, Hey, you know, hire some security, put a couple
of guys outside the door just forthe next few weeks while while this Markham
thing is going on, and thatmight have happened just a few days ago
in showtime. And she comes homeand again I still have the question about
(34:25):
Loretta, Like she's like sixteen,Does she live alone? Is that her
house? Like? Literally? Doesshe own that house? Is that her
place? Like where it's It's avery weird situation with Loretta. But she
comes home to find a dead snakeand a creepy dude in her house,
(34:47):
and that's Boone, And we getto meet Boone, and I have a
clip of that conversation. I didn'tmean to startle you would be startled.
The masshole comes in the house withoutso much That's a totally natural reaction.
When I was just a part mymama used to say, I tended to
leap before I looked. Well,if you're done looking, that would be
(35:07):
a good time to scoot your asson out of here. My name's Boone.
I'm new to the area and Ijust wanna say ot to my neighbor,
who if you don't mom, yousaying so is a vision. Oh
you know you have a dead snakeon your floor there. From where I'm
standing, it looks like someone shotthat head clean off. I don't suppose
(35:32):
it was you, was it.I don't suppose you can get out of
my house like I asked, causeI'd be one hell of a shot to
get just the head like that.Masterful. Really, how do you think
you did it? You think itwas a quick, dross scenario, but
(35:58):
there's really no reason to do that. You just be showing off. I
guess. I mean you could pullquick, but then you'd really wanna take
your time making that shot right.Make sure you hit it just right.
Regardless whoever shot that snake is onederanged and possibly dangerous individual. If you've
(36:22):
made any enemies lately, i'd highlyadvise you to make peace by any and
all means necessary, just so theydon't send this idiot back here again.
Yeah, be real shame to comehome one day and find some lunatic standing
in my house. You really area beautiful girl. You know that.
(36:45):
I promise I'll stop back here againreal soon if you're still around, just
to make sure everything's alright. MHey, do you need to help getting
rid of that snake? I'll befine, I bet you will. Father
(37:10):
Hm, So I don't know.I mean, look, you know,
obviously Jonathan Tucker is doing a hellof a job here playing Boone and being
creepy as hell. He's got thekind of confidence that that a killer only
a killer has, you know, and he's conveying that very very effectively.
(37:34):
And and you know, he's gotthe double creep factor of you know,
not only being a killer who's veryobviously lethal with his h with a side
arm there, his his little revolverthat he keeps on his hip or his
bit giant revolver that he keeps onhis hip, but also commenting on a
sixteen year old girls attractive, veryvery uncomfortable. So Loretta of course immediately
(38:00):
goes to Boyd like, Hey,okay, I'm gonna actually take Raylan's advice.
I'm gonna find some find some protection, and you know what, I'm
probably gonna need some distribution as well. Maybe Boyd Crowder can help me with
that. So she trucks down toHarlan and and basically tells Boyd that she's
(38:22):
gonna turn Harlan into the weed capitalof the world. And he's like,
you know what, I like youand I don't like Markham, so I'm
not gonna intervene. You can opposeMarkham. I'll offer you my men for
protection. And by the way,I'll make sure that the people who have
agreed to not sell their land willsell to you instead. And that's quite
(38:46):
quite a little coup for for Loretta. And it just it just so happens.
I mean, she caught Boyd inlike a perfect mood because he's like,
I don't need to be here.I'm gonna steal ten million dollars from
that vault. She can have whatevershe wants and do whatever she wants with
Harlan, Like the timing is impeccable. Yeah, boys, Like I'll be
(39:07):
in Mexico, al readying six percentor whatever. Exactly right, I'll be
on a beach, would be ona beach. But I think that,
Yeah, I think the timey isperfect, right, maybe it stay it's
uh, you're right, Like Boydsjust has his eyes on a different product.
(39:28):
Yeah, yeah, he's he's completelyforgotten about his plans to uh turn
turn Harlan County into marijuana capital andand run it himself and all that instead
of Markham. And he's like,I'm just gonna steal ten million dollars and
get out of town and the Rettickcan have the whole thing. It's he's
like a I don't know, likea like a bird with a shiny object
(39:52):
or something. It's just like distractshim like, oh, I'm going to
go after that. Oh like uh, like like when a dog sees a
squirrel. Yeah, everything else that'sgoing on in his life, right,
it's just like that squirrels gotta I'vegot to deal with that. And uh
(40:14):
and then we get the party. So so everybody's at the party. Uhlans
there watching everyone. Loretta is there, Boon's there, Markham's there, Catherine
boyd Ava and a bunch of townspeople. Earl is there hanging out the Snow
the Snow Sea from the O cthe Snow Yes, or Caleb Birthday Yeah
(40:37):
yeah, yeah yeah, or thethe the what was the the coming out,
the debutante U, the kazillion,Yes, that's it, the kazillion,
Yeah, oh yeah. Always there'salways some blowout or something like that
that they always have to have andsomebody else's has to fall into the pool,
(40:58):
yeah, or die in the poolor die yeah. But at this
particular party, there's just some speechifyingthat happens, and you know, Raylan
bumps into Loretta, is surprised tosee her there, tells her she's got
more balls than since and she responds, isn't that what they say about you?
(41:20):
And that inspires him to offer herArlow's place. So not only has
she secured all of the properties fromBoyd and for his protection, she's now
got an offer for Arlow's place aswell. And then Boone comes up and
we get our first encounter between Raylanand Boone, and Raylan immediately sizes him
up and Boone immediately sizes up Raylan. So we have a clip of that
(41:42):
twash in one day. Oh Ilook you, man, I'll tell you
what pad Dresh never had it shown. Good name's Boone? Please to meet
you. I wouldn't rush judgment onman. I think it's safe to say.
Consider and everything I've heard about youfrom my employee I've been to.
You're another one of hears the Coloradoboys. That's right, tending to his
fields out there, not tending somuch as protecting well. I feel I
(42:05):
should warn you Markham's previous employees havenot fared well in these parts. What
the military jar head guys, ofcourse not those boys don't have no soul.
They don't know where it is toreally live it down. You know
what I mean? I do notknow. Man. You are everything i'd
hoped for, right down to thehat. You knew the man who invented
(42:30):
the stets he was actually from NewJersey? Is that so? Came up
with the idea of prospecting out west, cool in the summer, warm and
the winters, and more functional pieceof head whenever there was Hey, I
got an idea. Instead of runin your mouth, why don't you show
your gun to the marshall where you'veshowed it to me. See what happens.
Yes, if the marshall wants tosee my piece, all these guys
to do with that, well, should I assume that's a toy gun there,
(42:53):
John Wayne? Or you get anotherholster with a concealed permit inside.
Afraid I don't know, John Wayne. He was a movie calboy. Oh
wow, I never had much useof television movies. Well regard for your
well being, the way you showoff that pace, right, I look
(43:14):
forward to calling on you again. So so so the Stetson guy that that
absolutely is true. He is fromNew Jersey and his dad was a hat
maker. And uh and when hewhen he left the hat making business at
(43:35):
some point when when John Stetson, who was the guy's name who invented the
Stetson hat, Uh, he wentout west, and uh he met cowboys
and he looked at what they had, and they had coonskin caps, and
he wondered, you know, hey, I wonder if that fur could work
for a kind of an all weatherhat. And uh created the Stetson waterproof
(43:58):
felt and and here's a quote fromone observer. It kept the son out
of your eyes and off your neck. It was like an umbrella. It
gave you a bucket to water yourhorse and a cup to water yourself.
It made a hell of a fan, which you sometimes need for a fire,
but more often to shunt cows thisdirection or that. So it's kind
(44:23):
of the He's right, it's kindof the perfect hat. And he is
absolutely correct. Now, do Ibelieve that Boone knew that John Stetson invented
the stetson and is from New Jersey, but did not know who John Wayne
is. No, I do not. Yeah, I find that very hard
(44:44):
to believe. Yeah, I mean, just to say I don't know who
that is, I'm sorry. Heis ridiculous. Man, He's a thirty
year old man in whatever twenty fifteen. He knows who John Wayne is.
Yeah, even if you've never seenit, still live when he was still
alive, Come on, ridiculous.Yeah. I like the the stets and
(45:10):
like always reminds me of speaking ofSeinfeld urb been sombrero. Yes, Peterman
is the greatest sombrero. I actuallygot a cameo from the guy who played
uh Peterman uh for my mom fora birthday a few years ago. Oh
(45:36):
did you Yeah? Yeah, itwas awesome. He did like a whole
five minute bit. It was.It was fantastic. Did he do it
like as Peterman or that's what Imean, that's what I sort of asked
him to do. I was like, hey, you know, because it
was it was in twenty twenty. It was when everybody was still isolating because
her birthdays and everybody's still isolating andI'm like, hey, you know,
could you do a little like greetingabout maybe being isolated. And he told
(45:59):
a story about you know, floatingdown some river in India or something that
it was great. It was awesome. I loved it. So so the
cameos can be fun. Actually Iwas, I was. I. I
looked into doing one for the show. We had the we we had the
(46:21):
the one from uh now bed Ryersonwhere he mentioned the show. But but
I looked into getting one from likeone of the characters on the show.
And one of the rules is thatthey won't endorse something, so they won't.
They wouldn't. They wouldn't like talkabout the podcast and how great it
is or anything like that. SoI was like, I don't want that
(46:42):
unless they're gonna lie, I don'twant it. There was no way to
do it, make it like,uh like have some talk around it or
anything like that. I didn't.I didn't look into it that much.
And and and the the the communicationwith the celebrities is like you're limited to
like two hundred characters or something likethat. It's a very very small sort
of description you can give them onwhat you want. Oh, so it
(47:06):
would have been a little tricky, but excuse me, but anyway, So,
so there's this, you know, they have this encounter Boone walk Boone
eventually walks away. There's several moreencounters with Boone and Raylan coming. One
of the things I really liked aboutthis scene inside the portal is how Catherine
(47:27):
had to pretend to not know Boydand Ava, and Boyd and Ava had
to pretend to not know Catherine. But at one point, when Avery has
his back turned, she's got thislittle toast that she that she makes the
point across the room that seems kindof dangerous, But I do like I
love that Justified does things like this, And the reason I like it is
(47:49):
because they trust the audience, right. They know that the audience is smart
enough to know that. We don'tneed to see the meeting between Catherine Hale
and Boyd Crowder where they say, hey, we have to remember we don't
know each other at this thing,so we can't talk to each other there.
They don't need to show that meetingto remind the audience, right,
because criminals wouldn't have that meeting. They would know not to talk to each
(48:12):
other there. But a lot oflesser shows would show a phone call or
a meeting between them saying, hey, we're both gonna be in the same
place. We got to remember wedon't know each other. And I appreciate
that the writers appreciate the intelligence ofthe audience and don't feel the need to
spoon feed us here. So soso good on the writers here. But
(48:32):
I did I did like the attentionto detail there that that oh, they're
going to be all in the sameplace. That's going to be awkward.
So but we get more speechifying,we get we get Markham who makes a
little speech appealing to the people ofHarlan and as friends and neighbors. He
tells them that you know, hey, look, I'm just trying to make
(48:53):
your dreams come true while I'm tryingto make my dreams come true. We
can all do this together. You'llget more more money than you'll ever ever
be able to spend. You'll changeyour life, and I'll get to grow
pot And he opens up the floor. Insanely, he sees Boyd Crowder and
(49:14):
opens the floor and says, Boyd, do you have something to say?
Basically, and you know, obviouslyhe doesn't know Boyd very well, because
yeah, Boyd does have something tosay, let's I'm not at all mister
Markom. You throw a hell ofa party. I'm enjoying myself immensely,
although I am curious. Do youplan on doing to this small town the
(49:36):
same thing that you did to allthose other small towns in Colorado? Everybody
knows. I think dope is afine commodity, legal or otherwise. But
the people in this room need themoney earned in their community to stay in
their community. I don't claim tobe a savior, but I have already
(49:58):
demonstrated my willingness to put my moneyto work in this community. And as
I understand it, where I offeredcash, you offered trips. Got your
plan, keep harmonies, good peoplefor your own game. As far as
I know, everyone Boyd spoke tois at least still alive, unlike Betty
(50:19):
and John o' hutchins. And Idon't think I see Red Krawell at this
Shendig either. Huh. Maybe yourpizza ovens scared him away. Her tale
is skittish around fire, since hisplace burned to the ground property you know
own. If I ain't mistaken,I'm afraid teenage gossips clattered your mind.
(50:43):
Mister Creede could be I am stilla touch spooped by the decapitated snakey put
in my house. See you pointingfingers, but not offering a fix to
of these people's problems. My fixis the same as yours, mister Markham
promise of legal weed. The differenceis I've been here for generals. You
all knew my daddy. You won'tknow me. Know that I'm harling through
(51:08):
and through, and so is mypartner. And who might that be the
only other soul I know cares aboutthis place as much as I do.
What Crowder? Every one of youwho has been approached about your property,
(51:28):
this is my offer. I willgive you cash for your land, same
as Markham. But the difference isI don't want to move you guys out,
just want to move some seed in. And along with that seed we
bring security and protection. Now andin perpetuity, hire the locals to help
with the farming. Pay it backyou think Avery Markham in his city mouse
(51:51):
set it gonna cut and run,win or lose. She look like Harlan.
Do you throw in with me andwe'll make Carlin prospers our own selves.
Give this county back to the peopleway we all know what should be.
I love Loretta just taking a pageright out of Boyd's book here.
(52:14):
Well, I was going to say, mine note was that it's very similar
to mas Bennett yep, as faras uh, because she wasn't that was
she at that meeting way back when? I don't know, I don't remember
I was thinking about that. Idon't remember if Loretta was at that meeting
or not, the public forum meetingwith the coal company. Yeah, boy
gets up and makes his big speechand Mags makes her big speech, and
(52:37):
yeah, it's uh. I don'tknow. I don't know if Loretta was
there, but but she clearly ifshe wasn't, she watched it after the
fat because it basically is the samestore. I mean, it plays out
the same way. Yeah yeah,And it's the appeal to you know,
local, you know the outsiders comingin and uh, you know, it's
(53:00):
about the same thing. Give meyour land, you can trust me with
it, and now you can't trustthese outsiders, you can't trust these other
people. Yeah. Yeah, samepitch, exactly, same pitch. It's
wild. I do I do likethe parallels that they draw and and and
showing Loretta becoming a little mini MagsBennett. It's fantastic, And I'm wondering
(53:23):
because I don't get well, Iguess they did hire Boy to kind of
like influence people in the over there. Yes, in the Cold Company.
I'm talking about way back when. But you know they did they did Boy
murder anybody? No, no,okay, well no no, but he
(53:44):
did threaten people when when he realizedhe was going to uh, he was
gonna try and screw them over.Yeah, he did basically the same exact
strategy that they're doing here. Itis, you know, it is funny,
like you know, if you lookat it, it looks actually kind
of repetitive it, but it's sucha it's such a compelling sort of presentation
(54:09):
and story that you don't care. You really don't care. Hey, they're
rehashing sort of the same plot line, you know what. It's it's different
enough, and the characters and theacting are compelling enough that I don't care.
So that And it's always it's goingto be a constant thing. It's
always gonna somebody's gonna have something thatthey you know, and depends on how
(54:30):
motivated somebody is to what they're gonnathrow behind it as far as the resources
to get to get what they want. So always reach people looking to plunder
poor people. That's that's you know, that's a universal truth that's always going
to happen. Yeah, all right. So so Boyd after that, after
(54:51):
that little speech coming from her,he confronts her for being a little unsubtle,
which I thought was hilarious coming fromhim. He's like, I don't
remember exactly what he says, butit's just so funny, like like critiquing
her for doing something that he wouldhave absolutely done. Yeah, and but
he does her balls everybody does. That's pretty amazing. My note here is
(55:16):
that, Oh I'm ready for myclose up, mister whatever that you know,
like that's Boyd? Oh yeah yeahyeah, where's the camera again?
Which? Which where do I needto look at? Yeah? So Boyd
heads out to the mine. Catherineencourages Markham to deal with her Loretta,
to deal with the Loretta problem. She's like, yeah, you're gonna have
(55:38):
to do something about her, andhe tells Boone to investigate whether she has
family so they can start to figureout if they're going to kill her,
and if if they are, issomebody else going to get the property that
they're going to have to kill. But while this is all happening, Raylan
is talking to Ava and makes acomment about how she's dressed. Eventually she
(56:01):
figures out that he already knows thatthe robbery is going down today because you
know, he you know, orchestratedit essentially, but she doesn't figure out
that he's got Win working for him. And and then she leaves to do
her her little duty, which isto start a fire essentially that gets everybody
(56:24):
out of the building. Boyd,Zachariah, Carl, and Duffy are all
down in the mine. Duffy's downthere in his suit, which is hilarious,
and they look over the explosives andand Boyd's like, all right,
let's go. He tells Carl andDuffy to get out. They tells Able
(56:45):
to pull the alarm to empty thebuilding, and right as they light the
explosive, Zachariah hits Boyd and chainshim to the wall of the mine.
And he's sitting there looking at thedynamite few was burning literally in front of
him. And so I wondered aboutthis. Do you remember when you watched
this for the first time, wereyou thinking to yourself, oh, holy
(57:07):
shit, they're gonna kill BOYD fourepisodes before the end. No, I
didn't think that at all. Actually, all that was just a yeah,
yeah, well I think I wasso like, I think, well,
I was thinking, God, dothey still do that? Like, do
they still detonate using dynamite with likelighting a match and there's this fuse that
(57:29):
like is an old timey mining trickthat they haven't chained for a couple hundred
years, you know. Oh yeah, I think I think well, I
mean, I think professional mining operationsuse use synthetic explosive and everything else,
like like debt chord and all thatstuff. Yeah, but when you when
you have access to dynamite only that'show you that's how you blow up.
(57:50):
Dynamite is a fuse with a fire, right, or you can shoot it
that work too, Yeah, butfire and fire and a fuse is what
sets off dynamoe. It's not anelectric it's not like C four where you
need an electrical charge. It's uh, it's actual fire. Like because we
we uh we got Hoodwig before withthe not really Hoodwig, but it was
(58:13):
like I forgot one of the oneof the villains of the week in the
previous previous season where he had thehe had the fire the road flares.
Oh yeah, road flares, Yes, I do remember. Yes, what
was that that was? I can'teven remember. I don't remember either,
(58:34):
Yeah, but I do remember theroad flares, yeah, because I remember
I used the clip from from TommyBoy. Oh yeah, road flares do
a lot of paint chips as akid. Yeah, just used the like
a like like one of those cartoonbombs. Yeah. Yeah. They have
(58:57):
the big black ball with sticking outof the time. That cracks me up
every time I see it. It'slike, I'll be sure to's all wiley
coyotes, not gonna make him throughsecurity. So so with seconds to spare,
so I well, I will tellyou that I absolutely did. When
(59:21):
I watched this episode for the firsttime, I was like, Oh,
isn't that interesting. They're going tokill Boyd off before the end of the
show. Ava is going to beon her own to figure out what the
hell she does next, and uh, and we're going to see Boone and
Markham and Raylan kind of square offto end the series. I thought that's
interesting. That's less interesting than Boyd, but it is interesting. And then
(59:45):
they they you know, with secondsto spare. Carl comes to the rescue,
brings him a rock hammer, andBoyd manages to smash through the chain
and like, what four strokes orwhatever, which I don't think is possible
given the size and thickness of thatchain, but chain looked like, yeah,
exactly, yeah, cob on,it looked like it would take you
(01:00:08):
three days to get through that thingwith an angle grinder, Like, I
don't unless it was like really rustyor something like that. It's probably been
down there forever, right, Butyeah, but jeez, come on,
that's why exactly what I was thinkingtoo. But yeah, So so they
(01:00:28):
fail, so the explosives, Boydgets out just in time. The explosives
go off. They don't even makeit through the rock below the foundation,
much less through the foundation and throughthe bottom of the safe. Uh,
and so they've got to regroup. The marshals are there watching as they all
evacuate the mine, and Duffy's coveredin soot and coughing and everybody's everybody's all
(01:00:52):
messed up from from the explosion. But but they have also failed miserably,
and UH and Tim and Rachel arenot happy with the with the outcome there,
Markham and Raylan are in the basementlooking at the vault and uh and
they have a little conversation about Boyd'sand aptitude. And I have a I
have a clip of that. Whateverthat blast was, it wouldn't enough.
(01:01:15):
One thing didn't occur to me.Dipshit's not capable of pulling it off.
What if he had, well,he had stuck his head up out of
a hole in there, You're gonnashoot him. Might have. Let's give
him a minute, Maybe he'll tryit again. What's gonna happen next is
(01:01:38):
fire Department's gonna come down here andkick our asses out. Yep, getting
smoky in here. Yeah, Idon't get you. Give you some of
my own money to help you out. Twenty four hours ago upstairs you're giving
(01:02:00):
me or some potico. So you'rejust jerking me around and using me to
get bored. Don't take it personal. I'm just doing what I gotta do.
Yeah, that's my plan. What'sthat and what I gotta do?
Care to elaborate right now? I'mgonna get out of here and get some
(01:02:23):
fresh air. I'm not the sand so we know from his conversation with
Catherine that what he's gonna do nextis go after Loretta because he's got to
secure that land. Yeah, andhe did not want to discuss that with
(01:02:45):
Raylan, but but that's absolutely what'shappening, what's gonna happen next, And
and Boyd back at the back atthe bar, Ava comes in or with
Earle and they both realize, hey, there's no money, and Boyd sends
Earl back to the portal to tellhim to watch and see if anything,
(01:03:05):
If anything moves or changes, he'sgot to let him know right away because
he thinks Markam's going to move themoney now. And and you know,
he assaults Ava and asks her, hey, are you were you in on
this? What did you say toto Zachariah? What? What? What
made him try and kill me?And she denies it and then also reminds
him that, hey, I triedto warn you that he's crazy. Remember
(01:03:30):
we had this conversation. And Boydcalms down a little bit after realizing that,
and and Boyd says, hey, look, he's going to move the
money, and I'm going to hitit when he moves it, and we're
still going to get that money. And then we see a scene with the
Marshalls, and we get the scenewith Rachel yelling at Raylman about the investigations
(01:03:51):
progress in a very sort of stereotypicalmovie police Captain way, and Raylan says,
hey, look, he's going togo after the money again. He
can't resist it. He's gonna goafter it again. And he's going to
go after it when they move it. So we're gonna get him. It's
just, you know what is hesaying? We're not in the end zone
doing the Ikey shuffle yet, Andand and again we've got another pretty i
(01:04:15):
think, robust pop culture reference thata character says, I have no idea
what you're talking about. And I'mlike, really, Rachel doesn't know what
the Ikey shuffle is in Lexington,of all places. She's not that young.
She would remember the Bengals. That'sthe that's the team for South Ohio,
Southern Ohio and Kentucky. Like it'snot like they have another football team.
(01:04:39):
So oh, yeah, I thinkabout it. That's right. Yeah,
So so it's it's it's weird tome that she would not know what
the Ikey shuffle is. But she'snot from there. She's just working there,
So maybe that's maybe that's why.I don't know. Let's see what
else do I have here? That'sabout it. That's uh, that's all
(01:05:00):
I've got in my notes. Idon't know what what else? Do you
have anything else? Umm? No, that's all I got. Well,
let's get to our let's get toour final segment. Then, I was
telling my friends this morning now yesterday, coming in and if you don't get
out of town in twenty four hours, I'm gonna shoot you one site.
Are you gonna shoot them? I'llget four you before you even clear your
(01:05:23):
weapons, and I'll take more chanceswith the other you get the chance,
shoot him in the nut, Helppull my sade ar unless I'm going to
shoot to kill? Are you gonnashoot him? To Raylan? And Rayland
doesn't shoot anybody this this episode, however, Yeah, however, Catherine performs
(01:05:44):
a super duper in the one hundredand thirty second trimester abortion Jesus really really
really late term super duper late termlate term procedure on on what's his face?
(01:06:04):
Bass sea bass God? You like, how much did you Barkham?
Give him like one hundred thousand?Givehim fifty fifty fifty okay, one hundred
thousand that could go along. Youwouldn't be living high off the hog,
but you could. You could, you could run away. I would have
Yes, I would ask for thattoo. It would be enough. Yeah,
(01:06:27):
especially after after seeing what happened towho he called top uh uh yeah,
after seeing that, you're like, hey, I need more money because
I got to get out of here. I got to disappear, and I
got to disappear, right, andit's going to cost me at least five
grand to get new papers and andso that's already ten percent of my money.
I need more got to get me. Yeah, yeah, so all
(01:06:53):
right, but yeah, that wasit, and uh, you know,
kudos to Catherine for doing the perfectwhat would you call that, the perfect
reversal of fortune. Yeah, withthat pistol in the inner inner purse and
uh put then and then you know, gets him in the chest and he
falls to his knees and then justexecution style right in the right in the
(01:07:15):
forehead, performs the coup de grass. Yeah. So uh yeah, but
yeah, so no, what's thatescu Yeah, so we hardly knew you
see mass, Yeah exactly. Soall of Markham's original men are dead.
(01:07:43):
Boon appears to be the last onehe has left, although I would imagine
he's got a small army of themin Colorado. So yeah, who do
you think was a bigger Probably Toninwas probably like a bigger a bigger fish,
oh for sure. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, full organized crime operation
as opposed to sort of like alocal sort of you know, mini organized
(01:08:06):
crime operation like like Hale was runningin. Yeah. Like they were definitely
doing a lot of bad stuff, but not nothing compared to what the Detroit
mob was doing, like on scalethat we're talking about here. Yeah,
yeah, local interest versus federal interest, I would say, for the most
(01:08:27):
part. Yeah. Yeah. Andthen oh, and then when you mentioned
Wiley Coyote, I'm just looking atit while you were talking. And there
was a movie that was supposed tocome out called Coyote versus acmeep Oh you
know what I'm talking about? Thatabout? How Yeah, yeah, I
thought that I would actually like tosee that movie. I'd love to see
that movie. You know what I'dlike to also see I'd like to see
(01:08:48):
the back Girl movie that they made. I'd like to see it too.
Oh I know, yea. Theycanceled both of those after they were already
made, edited in the can, ready to release. They just said,
Nope, we're not going to releasethem. They must be really really terrible
either that well, from what Iunderstand, there's like a write down that
they can do as far as likefinancially it makes like tax you know,
(01:09:10):
tax wise or something. You neverrelease it. It's a complete right off
and yeah, yeah income and youdon't have to pay royalties and all this
stuff. So yeah, yeah, that's what's going on there. That company
is a mess. Absolutely, it'sand it's Warner Brothers too, yeah,
I mean yeah, yeah yeah, and they own they own Max and it's
(01:09:31):
just it's it's a mess. It'san absolutely disaster. I do not know
how to manage. Still they theydid release the best version of Aquaman with
Vinnie Chase from Yes from directed bydirected by James Cameron. Yeah, they
(01:09:54):
have that new Aquaman movie coming out. I've been getting the trailers for it,
like, yeah, I want tosee it, Oh do you?
I do? I totally it looksbonkers like the other one. What I
saw, I can't. It lookstotally bonkers. The other one was completely
bonkers too. Is Amber heard inthis one? Or did they kick her
out after the Johnny Oh, that'sa good question. I think she might.
(01:10:16):
I think she's still in it.I think she's in it for a
while because I think it was filmedlike before the trial last year, before
they found out she was a bedshitter. That's an Easter egg exactly.
The bonus DVD features Oh God,here's the dirty chits. Oh man,
(01:10:42):
that's a that was a weird,weird couple and a weird weird trial.
That was that was something else.Yeah. Well, now that we've talked
about everything under the sun, let'slet's go ahead and wrap that up.
