(00:01):
Hello, everybody. A long timefor a podcast, just because I'm probably
not gonna do a podcasts much longeranymore, or just when something is,
you know, something to just talkabout and maybe burn ten minutes of your
time. So a lot of thepeople I wanted to know where I was
at, and I've just been workingand stuff. But of course I'm out
(00:22):
of material. You know, Igot something to talk about today, and
I'll just give you an update onyou know, where I'm heading right now,
as I do every day, isI'm driving down to Barramar, Florida
to go to the office and getmy new vehicle, now a company vehicle.
Now I am in my new companyvehicle right now? Does that make
(00:43):
sense? I already got one,and but the way they have these set
up from fleet is not going towork for me. It's got this weird
Yeah, it's a Nissan Frontier twentytwenty four, and of course I went
from an F one fifty nine twentynineteen. So we'll get into the radio
(01:03):
figurations in a minute. But thething in the back of the bed is
a system called decked to e CKDand it's like, you know, you
pull it, you open Tilly youpull a drawer out comes all the way
out in the middle with then likethe whole top is a platform that it's
not as high as the truck bed, so you pretty much lose the ability
to use a truck bed for this, you know, eleven inch tall shelf
(01:26):
that pulls her out in the middle. And now I can't pull a portable
generator up in there. I can'tprotect anything from the elements. So I
told my lot one with a coveron the back, or put a cover
on it. They have a newone. So now the last couple of
weeks since I've had this, I'vealready played eighteen hundred and eighteen hundred miles
on it, and I have noradios in here at all, because you
know, I had like four orfive radios in my F one fifty and
(01:47):
ten is everywhere. So now I'vebeen driving for weeks with nothing. And
but once they said that, theysaid, well, yeah, we'll get
you new when they're coming in acouple weeks. So basically I never started
installing. I started installing radios inhere, never finished them. So going
back down today to get that anothertwenty twenty four Nissan Frontier, and now
I can start putting my radios andantennas, and the problem is I have
(02:09):
zero room for dashboard or radio mounting. So now I'm gonna have to downsize.
I still have a brand new IDfifty one hundred a in the box,
never opened. I have my TrusteeIcon seventy one hundred with the cup
holder a mount which I think inthe center console thing here I could put
that, So I lose one cupholder, but there's not a lot of
(02:30):
room there. Then I canna putthe base under the back seat. Not
back seat, it's a little tinything that you open the back door and
you got this whole thing that foldsdown they call a seat, but no
one could ever fit back there. It's like extra room. So but then
I have my my Oushan GMRS radio, my ID fifty one hundred, my
CB radio. I guess what,I think I'm going to have to probably
(02:53):
just deal with only having one radio, like the seventy one hundred I modded.
It'll do everything from one hundred andsixty meters to GMRS, So I
don't need a GMRS radio. Idon't need a business band radio for work,
for testing stuff on the highways anddifferent sites, you know, forty
(03:13):
seven megaherts, four fifty three megaherts, one fifty four megahrts. I could
do all that with my icon.I could do VHF VUHF. So why
do I need an ID fifty onehundred day? Well, I missed that
radio. It was awesome. Andthe reason I really got that was because
I thought, you know, I'msitting on HF all day with my seventy
one hundred and little tar heel andone I'm on HF. I can't even
(03:36):
talk to somewhere on the road herewith Simplex, which then when I'm on
Simplex talking to people going down hereor up north, I'm wasting that whole
radio for one forty six out andfive two analog. So I figured,
well, if I had that fiftyone hundred, I could lead down a
Simplex and d Star and then usethis one for HF. And I could
still do away with the CB radioand the because I can do CB on
(03:59):
the seventy one hundred two. SoI'm gonna go from five antennas and five
radios down to two, and uh, I guess I have too many radios.
I'll start selling something. The oneCB I was gonna put in here
the radio to the QG sixty brandnew in the box. Still haven't even
really done too much with that fiftyone brand new in the box. Never
opened that one. The GMRIS radio, I think it's great, hardly used
(04:21):
it, so I'm not sure whatto do and uh and then last night
I ordered a hot spot so atleast I got, you know, my
d Star radio on Dstar hot Spot, I have a fusion radio like DMR
radio. I can use those handheldand talk. So yeah, dry when
you're used to being on HF everysingle day and people have talked to you,
(04:43):
then you go driving eighteen hundred andeighty seven miles for two weeks with
nothing to talk. Nobody could talkon starts to make the ride really boring.
You know. That's what I'm uh, that's what I'm doing today.
So that's pretty much it. Igot a lot of other radios that's still
let me. I haven't done YouTubevideo on over a month. Kind of
sad, but it's been busy working. I'm tired, kind of in a
(05:06):
funk, you know, not reallyseeing or hanging out with anybody, just
me and a wife. So yeah, I'm alive. So those are like
did you die? Oh? Iknow some people probably think yeah, whatever
he said. Other people are likeconcerned, no big deal. You know,
podcast was fun. I well,I made one hundred and sixty something
(05:26):
episodes just driving looking at the windshieldon Bluetooth like I'm doing today. But
uh, you know it was fun. So maybe once in a while I'll
check in once a month and justgive you a recapit. What's doing?
How about that? What's going onlast month? Right? That's it?
And you know I have to reallystart focusing on those new people and they
(05:48):
tell you us I'll give a plughere for a second. Let me tell
you why. I recently made avideo on a little quick things just in
my phone in my truck about Sarnetright on YouTube. But here's the deal.
With all the years I've been doingeatube videos, every person that gets
on the radio lately is like,oh, this is my first time on
here, or I don't know whatthat means. I just got licensed last
(06:11):
week. I'm not sure, youknow, how do I choose an antenna.
I really need to start going backwardsagain and start talking, you know,
making videos that would really address thenewcomers. I don't realize how many
people are just now getting into hamradio in the last six months or so
and watching my videos and they allcomment, I have no idea what you're
(06:33):
talking about this radio. I musthave been showing like a five thousand dollars
yasue radio and assuming everybody knows whatthey're talking what I'm talking about, assuming
they know what I'm talking about, and some people are like, dude,
is this what I'm gonna expect?I just got my hand license and I
gotta go buy a five thousand dollarsradio. No. No, So I
need to start focused on that againbecause I'm glad more people are getting into
(06:54):
the hobbies, really really really hugeamount of people that are getting into the
and I seem like I have neglecteddose. So with that being said,
hand Radio Prep is the only sponsorI have and the best sponsor I've ever
