Carsten Dahl anses for at være en af Danmarks førende pianister og komponister. Han er også billedkunstner, digter og foredragsholder.
Hvis man ser udefra på Carstens barndom og opvækst, burde han i bund og grund være gået til grunde for længst. Men til hans held var han ikke et normalt barn - faktisk langt fra. For et helt unikt musikalsk talent kombineret med et trommesæt under køkkenet på det børnehjem, hvor han boede, var hans redning.
