(00:08):
I was thinking this morning about atime that I had a discussion was a
Muslim man who asked me a question, why are you a Christian? And
we got into a great discussion. So in order to answer that question,
I had to talk to him aboutwho is Jesus? And so I'm going
(00:31):
to tell you a little bit laterhow that conversation went and how it ended.
Welcome to Healing Begins. My nameis Pastor Gail, and today I
have Karen was Nisky on the programand say, Hi, Karen, Hello.
There. Have you ever had discussionswith people who are questioning you about
(00:51):
who they thought Jesus was? I'msure I have, But I myself had
questions with a doctor that I workedwith who was a Muslim, and we
talked about what his beliefs were.So we had a conversation back and forth.
(01:14):
Well, and I've had conversations withpeople who would tell me, well,
you know, Gail, there aremany roads to Rome. So what
they were saying it doesn't matter whatpath you take, you can get to
Heaven. It doesn't matter what religionyou are. And we're going to talk
about them a little bit. Youknow. I've had a lot of discussions
(01:36):
in this arena. I used tobe a part of a group when I
went to Bible College in Canada. The town the editor of the town paper
was an atheist, the reporter wasn'tagnostic. I was the only one that
was a believer, and we haddiscussions about God and other things, and
I've always found that really invigorating andfun. Some say that Jesus was just
(02:00):
a man. Others say he wasa good teacher. Some say he was
a prophet, Others say he wasGod's first creation, no more than Michael
the archangel, and others say hewas Lucifer's brother. Now isn't that strange
(02:27):
to think about Karen. Yeah, just recently I was thinking, I've heard
that of the some say he wasLucifer's brother, which I did not have
any knowledge of that for a longtime. Now you might be listening and
you might be from a background thatbelieves some of the things I just talked
about. So now I want tofinish my story to do with the Muslim
(02:51):
gentleman who was talking to me.So he said to me, I think
this was when I was working fora trauma center. We were just a
lot of my discussions were just inplain, ordinary conversations with people. There
was no debating, and so hesaid, why are you a Christian?
And he got real serious, andI says, well, it really boils
(03:14):
down to one thing. I said, you take Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha,
Harry Krishna, Joseph Smith. Youput all those guys in one group
together, and what do you seedifferent? And he stopped. He thought,
(03:37):
he paused, and he said, well, I don't see anything different.
And I said I do. Hegoes, what do you see different?
I said, Mohammad is dead,Buddha is dead, Krishna is dead,
(03:59):
Joe so Smith is dead. ButJesus Christ is alive. He rose
from the dead. There is nobodyto be found. He said he was
God and he proved it by raisingfrom the dead. And the guy stopped.
(04:20):
He goes, I never thought ofthat, And he actually accepted Christ.
I was own free will. Nowthat's a big deal. When that
happens, that's that's really good.Well, when you're having a discussion like
that, you know, it reallygoes right back to the question that Jesus
(04:47):
asked the disciples. He said, who do man say that I am?
And so he had been spending allthe this time of the disciples. He
had been doing signs, he hadbeen doing wonders right in front of them.
You would have thought they'd have knownwho he was, But you know,
(05:13):
they didn't always get it right away. And Matthew sixteen thirteen to twenty
says, when Jesus came to theregion of Sssory of Philippi, he asked
his disciples, who do people saythe son of Man is? They replied,
Some say John the Baptist, otherssay Elijah, still others Jeremiah or
(05:38):
one of the prophets. But whatabout you, He asked, who do
you say I am Simon? Peteranswered, you are the Messiah, the
son of the Living God. Andby the way, I'm going to talk
about that in a minute. Thatwas a significant answer. Jesus replied,
(05:59):
bust are you son of Jonah? For this was not revealed to you by
flesh and blood, but by myFather in Heaven. And I tell you
you are Peter, And on thisrock I will build my church, and
the gates of Haiti will not overcomeit. I will give you the keys
of the Kingdom. Whatever you bindon earth, will we bound in heaven.
(06:21):
And whatever you loose on earth willbe loose in heaven. And then
he ordered his disciples not to tellanyone that he was the Messiah. So
that's kind of a strange thought too. But on this rock, now he's
not really talking about Peter. He'stalking about the revelation. When Peter used
(06:46):
Mussaiah very important. Peter is saying, I recognize that you are the anointed
One, the Savior of the world, God incarnate, God in the flesh.
Because that was quite a revelation.Yeah, I'm just popped in my
mind of the conversation that I hadone time about I was just inquiring what
(07:13):
this Muslim believed, because I didn'tknow at the time. And my question
was if he had believed in theOld Testament, and he said he said
yes, and then but the NewTestament right with Jesus. I said,
so, what did you do thenfor sins? Because Jesus paid the price
(07:34):
for our sin, he died onthe cross. So what do you do
then, because we all sin? What do you do because back and then
the Old Testament, if you believein that, they had to sacrifice animals.
So that was an interesting conversation.Conversations with people of different faith and
(07:57):
other religions, as long as youdo them in love. Because God loves
all nations and he loves all peoplefrom all walks of life. Are so
important. And I was really intriguedwhat his beliefs were. So now we
need to take a look at whodid Jesus say he was? Karen?
(08:20):
Would you read John fourteen one throughsix. Yeah, do not let your
hearts be troubled. You believe inGod. Believe also in me. My
father's house has in many rooms. If that were not so, would I
have told you that I am goingthere to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare aplace for you, I will come back
(08:41):
and take you to be with methat you also might be where I am.
You know the way to the placewhere I'm going. And then Thomas
said to him, Lord, wedon't know where you are going, so
how can we know the way?And Jesus answered, I am the way
(09:01):
and the truth and the life.No one comes to the Father except through
me. So what does that scripturesay to you? Jesus is the only
way. So you're telling me thatall Rhodes do not lead the role.
Yes, there is only one way. Yes, so Jesus said he was
(09:22):
the way, the truth, andthe life is the only way to the
Father. That that was a greatstatement. But our Lord himself saying that
who he was. And so Iwant to go on, and I want
to read John chapter eight Versus fortyeight through fifty nine. And after Jesus
(09:46):
was done here they wanted to stonehim. And I'm going to share with
you why the Jews answered him.Aren't we right in saying that you are
a Samaritan and demon possessed? Boy? They didn't like Jesus. I am
not possessed by a demon, saidJesus. But I honor my father,
(10:07):
and you dishonor me. I amnot seeking glory for myself, but there
is one who seeks it, andhe is the Judge. Verily, truly,
I tell you, whoever obeys myword will never see death. At
this, they exclaimed, now weknow that you are a demon possessed.
(10:28):
Abraham died and so did the prophets. Yet you say, whoever obeys your
word will never taste of death? Are you greater than our father Abraham?
He died and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are Jesus
replied, if I glorify myself,my glory means nothing. My Father,
(10:54):
who you claim as your God,is the one who glorifies me. Though
you do not know him, Iknow him. If I had said I
did not, I would be aliar like you. But I know him
and obey his word. Your father, Abraham rejoice at the thought of seeing
(11:15):
my day. He saw it andwas glad. You are not yet fifty
years old, they said to him, And you have seen Abraham verily,
truly, I tell you. Now, listen to this next statement. Jesus
answered, before Abraham was born,I am. At this they picked up
(11:39):
stones to stone him, but Jesushimself slipped away from the temple grounds.
So what Jesus was saying when hesaid before Abraham was I am. He
used the name that God used,I am that I am. What he
(12:00):
was saying to them before Abraham wasI am God. And then they wanted
to kill him because that was tothem they thought Jesus was blaspheming. So
you know, it says in Johnone one in the beginning was the Word,
and the word was God, andthe word was God. And then
John one fourteen, the word becamefleshed and made his dwelling among us.
(12:26):
And this is the main thought. We we're Christians because Jesus said he was
God, he died on the cross, and then he said in John two
nineteen, Jesus answered him, destroythis temple, and I will raise it
again in three days. Now theywere thinking that he was talking about the
(12:52):
physical temple, but he was talkingabout his body. And so before Abraham
as I am, and if youdestroy this temple, I'll prove it.
I'll raise again in three days.H So why did Jesus have to be
God? That is a very verygood question, Karen. Why did Jesus
(13:18):
have to be God? Well,we had to be fully God, and
then when Jesus came here on earthright had to be one man in order
to pay the penalty for sin, because a penalty for sin is death.
(13:39):
And he's we're talking earlier that therewill be no death. But why did
he have to be God? NowI'm going to answer that. I'm going
to go back even further. Yougot to go to the Old Testament.
The sacrifice for sin required a purespots layd ye. And there's no angel
(14:03):
that's good enough. There's no man, that's good enough. It had to
be God in the flesh coming toearth, dying on the cross so that
you and I could have eternal life. Otherwise the sacrifice would not have been
good enough. And that is whywhen you take away from the deity of
(14:24):
Christ, you take away from yourown salvation. Because either Jesus was who
he said he was or he wasa lunatic. But Jesus was who he
said he was, and he provedit by the resurrection from the dead.
(14:46):
And that's why when the disciples wouldgo and they would go preach from town
to town and they would preach thatthe one you crucified raised from the dead
man, they got whole cities inthe uproar they caused. Bye set that
preaching right. Yeah, can youimagine what it would be like to go
downtown Iraq and preach about the resurrectedChrist. That might cost you your life.
(15:11):
Yeah, but he paid the price. Only God and the flesh could
go into Hell and suffer an eternityfor us and pay our price. Yeah.
I know I couldn't handle it,could you. No? I just
(15:33):
just just just just right now,as you said that again, just a
gratefulness, right, of what hedid for us so that we can have
eternal life with him. Very grateful, he pardoneds. Hey, would you
read some of the titles of whoChrist is in the New Testament. Yeah,
(15:54):
he's our Christ, our Lord, our Master, our logos word right,
the Son of God, the Sonof Man, son of David,
the Lamb of God, the NewAtom, the second Adom and the last
Atom, the Light of the world, the King of Jews and Rabbi Amen.
(16:15):
Amen. And now the scripture Iwant to read, and it's Revelation
one eighteen. I love this scripture. Here's what Jesus said. It's the
hand of the Book of Revelation. When the beginning of the Book of Revelation,
I am the living one. Iwas dead. Now look I am
alive forever and ever, and Ihold the keys of death and hades.
(16:41):
Wow, to me, that isan amazing scripture right there. That's our
King. I was dead, andbehold, I am alive. He is
the one who was and is andis to come. That's who Jesus says.
That's why it's so important if you'regetting involved with a religious organization.
(17:07):
This is why it's so important tofind out what do they believe about Jesus
will never have unity of doctrine, but we can have unity of the faith
that Jesus is the Christ. Thatword Christ is not Jesus's last name.
(17:30):
That word Christ means he is Messiah, anointed one, savior of the world.
That is what that word Christ means. He's King of kings, Lord
of lords. He'll come back someday. He's going to be coming soon.
(17:51):
We'll go to meet him in theair. When that trumpet sounds,
all that are alive in Christ, and then those that are have died in
Christ will rise first, and wewho are alive and remain will be caught
up to meet him in the Lordin the air. Karen, why don't
you give people an invitation to acceptChrist? Yeah, I just I think
(18:12):
of a time. It's like someof us are fearful of death, and
we don't have to be fearful ofdying here on earth. Is that if
we know where we're going. AndI just to think that. Do say
to yourself, you know, askyourself, if I should die today,
if today be the day that Itake my last breath here on earth,
where shall I go? And youcan be sure of that, and that
(18:34):
is recognizing that you that we aresinners right, that we have sin we
fall short of the glory of God. And say to the Lord that yeah,
I am a sinner, and askfor forgiveness and repent of those sins,
and ask the Lord to come intoyour heart, and that you do
(18:55):
your best to follow him here onearth and have the everlasting life. So
Lord Jesus, we do thank youthat you are our Lord, and that
you are our Savior, and thatyou are the King of kings, and
Lord that you you don't want anyoneto perish but have eternal life with you.
(19:15):
So Lord, to say, LordJesus, I believe that you are
the Son of God, that youare the Savior, my savior, and
I asked you to cleanse me ofall my sins pure if I'm a heart
or God, and help me towalk my days here on earth following you
(19:37):
and let you be the Lord ofmy life. In Jesus name, and
Lord, I just pray for thosetoday that feel in despair, they feel
lost, or maybe even they're inneed of healing in their physical bodies.
Father, for those that are listeningtoday, I pray that your presence would
go to them. I pray Isaiahsix see three nine, that the Angel
(20:02):
of your presence will go to wordthereat and minister your peace and your presence
to them right now in the nameof Jesus. So it really is important
that we know who Jesus is becauseif you know who he is, and
(20:25):
then you know who you got livingon the inside of your heart, and
you know your authority and everything thatcomes. You know why Jesus said,
those who believe will never taste ofdeath because the second death is going to
hell. He died, so thosethat believe in him would never taste that
(20:45):
death. If you choose Jesus, you choose life. We die someday.
But let me just say the wordsof Paul. For me to live is
Christ, to die is game.Amen. So thank you for tuning in
to the program this morning. Ihope that you've enjoyed it. I hope
(21:07):
that we hear from you. Atthe end of this program, there will

would like to hear for yourself. So I just want you to know today,
Karen, and I want you toknow that God loves you. Any
closing thoughts, Karen, Yeah,I love that you are loved and you
(21:33):
are wanted, and the Lord isjust yeah, he wants you to come
to him, to come to himjust as you are, just as you
are well. And I think too, though, when Jesus said, come
to me all you who are wearyand heavy laden, and I will give
you rest. I think about allthe people that need rest today. Maybe
(21:56):
they're up at one am because hecan't sleep. Well, I pray for
you that you can get rest, that you would fall to sleep after this
program and get the good, nicerest for the rest of the morning.
That it's one am, so it'searly, so well. May the Lord

(22:18):

while Jesus wants to be your friend, and he wants to walk with
you every day. May the Lordbless you, May the Lord keep you,
May the Lord be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his face

(22:42):
