Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome once again Joe Brown of Serious SEXIM NBA Radio
as well as Mad Dog Sports Radio. It's is Heavy
in the Paid right here on nineteen Media Group and
let's switch gears right now, bring on a gentleman outstanding podcast,
the Jets Podcast. Yes, it's all about the j E
T Yes Jets, Jets Jets Podcast. Gentleman does an outstanding

(00:40):
job with his co host Blao Powell is Rommi Lobby.
Join me here on Heavy into Paid. Rommie first and foremost,
thank you so much for joining me. Robnie, I gotta
asked you, and I gotta I gotta be totally honest
because I'm here in the Tri State area, and you know,
I was really heavily when we talked on the Nightcap

(01:02):
and we talked about Rex Ryan. I thought he would
be a great, a great addition, and then they went
and decided to get Aaron Glynn. Now I'm happy Aaron Glynn.
He's a former Jet, he gets an opportunity. I'm happy
for all of that. However, after the performance of the
Lions in the playoffs, and yet he comes to a

(01:24):
team that Ronny, you don't win in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
If you don't have a quarterback. This is a setup
for failure. Ronnie.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
You don't have a quarterback. Ben Johnson took the the
Chicago Bears job.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
He has, Caleb Williams.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
You have to have a quarterback in plays in order
to have success. See Dan Campbell, you name it. What
were your thoughts when they hired Aaron Glynn.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Well, first of all, Gerald, I appreciate you for having me,
And yeah, I was happy for ag I wanted him
to get a job this hiring cycle, and it looks
like he's ready for the job. Only New York and
the Jets specifically, is where your career goes to die.
And so it's frustrating for me, like as somebody who's
rooting for him, It's like, no, this isn't the job
for you. This isn't this would have been. You know

(02:12):
what Vegas is doing where they hired Pete Carroll and
he's not going to be there for the next ten years.
We know that he's going to be there to stabilize
the franchise for two to three years, build a staff,
and then find his successor and hand it off to
that person to lead the team into the future. That's
what the Jets needed at this point, and instead we're
going back to the well with another first time coach,

(02:33):
another defensive guy, the same thing we've tried over and
over again and it hasn't worked. There's no reason it
should work this time again, especially when you consider, like
you said, you're relying on a forty two year old quarterback,
you know, pull the team together. I don't see how
it's going to work. He was inspiring in his press conference.
I love what he had to say, but if I'm

(02:54):
being honest, I don't think it was the right choice.
And as much as I want him to succeed, and
I think he has what it takes to succeed, I
don't think he's going to be put in the best
position to succeed.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
I don't think that there is a coach that you
could sit back and say, Okay, plug this coach in
and he instantly makes the Jets better. You have to
have a quarterback, and Ronny, the way things look right now,
Aaron Rodgers might be the best option. How this situation,
and especially I'm hearing people talking about Sam Donald coming

(03:28):
nowhere in the world he's coming back. How do you
assess this quarterback market, especially for a first time head
coach and Aaron Glenn taking over this team.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
I think it's Aaron Rodgers or bust. Right now, we
keep hearing people talk about, well, they just need a
bridge quarterback quote unquote. This team is kind of ready
to win. If they could have a bridge quarterback, draft
the younger guy and develop them under a bridge quarterback,
that could work. Wait, who's the best bridge quarterback available.
It's Aaron Rodgers, unless Matthew Stafford is leaving the Rams,
which is a possibility. I don't know how possible that is.

(04:00):
He said he wants to play another year. Maybe the
Rams feel like it's time to move in the other direction.
I don't know, but Matthew Stafford is the only guy
of those potential quote unquote bridge quarterbacks who would be
a better option you really want to bring in. Derek Carr,
you Ron bringing Russell Wilson or Justin Fields are one
of these guys. No, Rogers still is the best option.
The way he played the second half of the season
was pretty good. It was good enough that if you

(04:21):
had an ounce of coaching, maybe the team actually would
have won some games. Like I was at some of
the games down the stretch where they're just blowing these
games because they clearly are so poorly coached. So look,
I don't think it's perfect with Rogers. I love what
Aaron Glenn said after the press conference to the media.
They asked him about Aaron Rodgers. He said, look, Aaron
just won a fifty three, so we're working on the

(04:44):
entire roster as a whole. If Aaron Rodgers comes back
as one to fifty three, I truly believe he can
be successful. The problem with the Jets the last two
years was he was the one running the show, and
you and I talked about that on that night, that
it was the Aaron Rodgers Show, bringing in his buddies
from Green Bay, bringing in his offensive coordinator. It's not
gonna be that way anymore. If you want to sign
up and play with us, Aaron Rodgers, and you want
to play as part of the fifty three men roster

(05:05):
and part of the team, I think they can have
some form of success with him, at least make the playoffs,
break the streak of not making the playoffs since twenty eleven,
break the streak of not having a winning season since
twenty fifteen. I think that's a realistic option. Something that
can happen, but it's not perfect. There's no good options here.
How about that?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yeah, you know, Ronnie, you talk about again, everything was
handed on a silver platter to Aaron Rodgers is obviously
his pedigree speaks for itself. But when you talk about
now and Aaron Glenn making it known that this is
going to be a different situation for Aaron Rodgers, he's
forty two. You want to make this guy feel as

(05:48):
comfortable as possible.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Do you think that that is perhaps maybe the wrong approach.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
For a guy that you want him to feel comfortable
to play this position?

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Like?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Well, like is it just seems like everything is being
handled wrong, like in terms of saying, hey, we're just
going to trip you of all the little things that
we said, hey, we want you here and all this stuff.
Do you think that might be a bad course of action,
especially for a god that is kind of set in
his ways.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Well, you still have his favorite wide receiver in DeVante Adams.
You still have Garrett Wilson. Their chemistry was growing. You
still have Bryce Hall and Braylon Allen, which is a
great running back tandem. The offensive line finally took shape
towards the end of the season with Joe Tipman, with
some of the guys, obviously Vera Tucker on the right side,
and on the left side you have Aulufashanu, who looked

(06:41):
awesome in his rookie season which ended prematurely the game
another game I was at against the Rams where they
shut him down after an injury in that game. So
it looks like you're having an offensive line looks good.
I hope Morgan Moses wants to come back, because that
guy's a warrior.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I love him.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
John Simpson will see what happens there. But you have
an offensive line. It feels like that was actually successful.
And you know what's funny, they kept talking about Moojie
talked about this, Aaron Glenn talks about this. What hey
Johnson talked about this. Well, this roster is ready to compete.
This is a really good roster. Then maybe Joe Douglas
didn't do such a terrible job right like you fired him.
Maybe he wasn't that terrible of a general manager. So

(07:15):
I do think they're not gonna strip everything away from
Aaron Rodgers. I think they will bring in a probably
a first time play caller, whether it's Tan or Extrant
from the Lions, or whether it's Nick Haley out in LA.
They're gonna bring in an innovative, forward thinking, first time
play caller who can probably work with Rogers. Hey, here's

(07:36):
how we're going to do things. We'll obviously incorporate a
lot of the things that you like to do, Aaron.
It won't be though, like Nate Hackett, who was just hey, Aaron,
you do whatever you want. I'm just gonna sit here,
and Nate Hackett did nothing, you know what I mean.
So I actually think a little bit of coaching, even
at this point in the career, would still be a
good thing for Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
You know, Ron, you've been around the Jets and you
follow the Jets, and as I mentioned in the Jets podcast,
leave a network outstanding with Balao Powell and blow former
Jet himself. How tough is it is to win, to
be a Jet and win in New York because Robbie,
you know, people are up to here in terms of

(08:15):
the patience and saying, you know, let's bring in a
quarterback that we can develop, Robbie, They're not gonna be
able to do that because people want to win now.
People want to see results now, especially when there's been
so much heartbreaking heartache. How difficult will it be for
this first time head coach and Aaron Lynn and this

(08:37):
team to win and they gotta win early, Robbie, I mean,
how difficult is it?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
It's it's really difficult. And it's just the media in
New York also, And it's not just the local media,
because you could talk about the local media and the
pressure they're gonna put on. Think about the national media.
How many times every single time we hear anything about
the Jets, it's lol, Jets. You're set up to fail.
You're coming into a situation where no matter what you do,
people are just gonna laugh at you and say, ha ha,

(09:06):
look what they did. It's the same old Jets. We
hear it over and over again. It's what gets clicks,
that's what sells. From the last game of the season,
think about this is a perfect example something I talked
about on the podcast. You know how many times I
saw the video of the reverse they ran to DeVante
Adams and the flea flicker and he gets crushed on it.
Rogers had an incredible game. He threw three touchdowns. He
had some great throws to Adams for the touchdown to

(09:29):
Conklin for the touchdown. He throws his five hundredth career
touch on. But the replay that was on every single
social media account from House the Highlights to the NFL
to all these meme accounts was the flea flicker that failed.
That's what we're showing. Oh, look at Aaron Rodgers in
his last game. He was awesome in that game, he
really was. He had one play that didn't work. And
that's what's being point like pointed out. So you're set

(09:51):
up to fail. It's it's a problem. And I think
it's how we cover them, it's how we look at them.
And don't forget it's the Jets themselves who bring these
problems on to themselves because they haven't earned the right
to be viewed at positively. So if a lot of
Jet fans, and if you look at like the free
form media, if you look at Jets content creators, if
you look at Jets YouTubers and all that type of stuff,

(10:12):
they're actually very pro the Aaron Glenn higher and all
of a sudden, Jets fans are hyping themselves up. So
and we see this every offseason, Jets fans all of
a sudden hype themselves up again, and I'm like, guys,
are you not seeing this? It's the same thing over
and over again. So it's funny all those people who
are hyping the jets up again. Why do you give
the benefit of this doubt to the franchise? Oh, this
time's going to be difference? Why? They asked, whatdy Johnson?

(10:34):
That question? You've done this about every two to five
years at this point, introducing a new GM and head coach.
Why is this time going to be different? He said,
do you see those two men over there. You said
that about Adam Gase, you said that about Todd Bowles,
you said that about Robert Salah. Why is this time different?
And he couldn't give a real answer because he did
the exact same thing. If he had went with John Gruden,
who I know has his issues, but he's a veteran

(10:57):
who's won in the league. If he had even went
with Rex Ryan, who as his issues, but he's a
veteran who was running the league. Pete Carroll, like I
mentioned earlier, Mike McCarthy, who all he's ever done is win.
If you brought one of those people in there, you
could point to a track record and say boom. That's
why it's going to be different this time. Right now,
it's an unknown. You can't tell me it's going to
be different until they prove it. Talk is cheap, It

(11:18):
just is. And Aaron Glenn talked the big game Whatdy
Johnson talked the big game? Talk is cheap. Prove it.
Go out there and prove it.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Yeah, Ronnie puts your GM hat on, and you have
the opportunity to sit down and you're gonna look into
that camera and you're gonna talk to Aaron Rodgers to
a convince him to come back. B why you still
believe in him and see what could potentially possibly be
the outcome of this season. If everybody's all on the

(11:45):
same page and it's starting with management, how would you
go about that?

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Aaron, here's why you want to come back. Number one.
Last year was terribly mismanaged from coaching on down, ownership
on down. We screwed up. We let the coach go
too early. We were demanding what the GM should do,
which ultimately ruined the chemistry and the room and ruined
the roster itself. We're not gonna do that's hands off.
We trust Aaron Glenn you're gonna come in, You're gonna

(12:09):
work properly with a real offensive coordinator, with a real
quarterbacks coach that you like. With this team, a second
opportunity with DeVonta Adams and everyone and Garrett Wilson back
in the fold. You don't want your career to end
the way it just did. You want to go out
on top on the field. You want to go out
looking like the Aaron Rodgers of olden. If we have
a winning season this year and you play the way

(12:30):
you did in the second half of the season, they'll
remember you as the great Aaron Rodgers and you'll go
out on your own terms. Second, you could change the
narrative about who you are as a person. So many
people talk about how angry you are at Green Bay
when they drafted Jordan Love. We're going to draft a
young quarterback here. You have an opportunity to teach this
young quarterback and change the narrative about who you've been

(12:51):
as a teammate and as a person, which we know
you're a great person, but the narrative around you is
that you're not a great teammate. You can change that
by coaching up a young quarterback who We're going to
draft behind you. And here's why it's going to be different.
We believe in this team. We believe in this coaching staff.
The biggest difference last year for us was coaching. This
roster is good enough to win. We can win eleven games,

(13:12):
go into the playoffs, and once we get there, anything
can happen. Hey, guess what, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen.
None of those guys could beat Patrick Mahomes. Why can't you?
If anyone can do it, you can do it. Who
knows anything can happen. Let's just make the playoffs one
last ride and you could ride off into the sunset,
leaving the franchise in a better place than you found it.

(13:33):
And that way, this whole Jets era of your career
doesn't look like an entire disaster.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, that's very convincing, very very good.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
I cover all three. I'm not sure you did.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
You definitely did, Ronnie put you just keep your jam
hat on around the corner.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
You're looking at this Jet scene.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
You mentioned about drafting a quarterback, Give me a name
that you would want to take as a quarterback and
groom for that position, and then also just share where
you would.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Think this team really needs to upgrade in what areas.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
So I think as far as where they need to
upgrade in the draft, everything starts on O line and
D line. That's what did it for the Detroit Lions,
right they had the best offensive line in the league,
which I think the Jets are getting towards that point.
You have the stud left tackle, you have a right guard,
you have a center that's a shell of an incredible
offensive line. Oh and by the way, they're all within
their first three years of their career. They're young, so

(14:26):
that's going to be huge for the Jets. I think
the offensive line is really good if you can get
another defensive tackle to play next to Quinn Williams. That
was the biggest hole on this defense this year, in
my opinion, was the defensive tackle. They did not get
any pressure. They couldn't stop the run. Get a defensive
tackle who can play next to Quinn Williams. I believe
in Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson coming off the injury

(14:47):
on the outside. If you put Quinn Williams next to
a defensive tackle who's good enough that he could get
some pressure, he can stop the run. That's where I
think they should go at the top of the draft.
As far as quarterbacks, there's two names I'll give you
because one, if you're looking in the draft a day
two pick, maybe even a Day three pick, you're looking
at Jalen Milroe from Alabama, right, a guy who can

(15:08):
be a really good quarterback in this league potentially, but
he is not a finished product by any means. He
would have to sit for a year or two. It's
a very different offense than Aaron Rodgers, and I talked
about this with Blal. I also talked about this with
Tige Barbara at Wfan. How do you develop a quarterback
When you're Aaron Rodgers. You're trying to teach a young
quarterback and his skill set is so wildly different than you.

(15:28):
He'd be a running quarterback, he'd be, you know, a readoption.
He'd be similar to Jayden Daniels or Lamar Jackson or
you know some of the guys we see in the
league now, right, Jalen Hurts, who's in the Super Bowl. Again,
it's a totally different style of play. Even Josh Allen
I would consider the dual threat quarterback. How many design
runs the first play of the game against the Chiefs
was a designed run for Josh Allen, so it's definitely different,

(15:49):
but there's still some basic quarterback I guess things that
Aaron Rodgers can pass down as one of the best
to ever do it, can pass down the other option.
And I don't know why no one's talking about this,
and maybe I'm totally misinformed. Is Jordan Travis. There's a
kid who would have been a top pick from Florida State,
who was really good, and he's just sitting there on

(16:10):
the roster. I mean, am I crazy to think that
maybe they can try and turn him into something. We
know he's coming off an injury, but without the injury,
he was going to be one of the top prospects
in the draft. And then last thing, last thing the
GM needs to focus on. To me, and I don't
know anything about Darrenmugie. No one does. I would have
loved for them to gone a different direction. I would
have loved Alec Hallibey from Philadelphia, somebody who's worked under

(16:34):
Howie Roseman for years and years and constant Lee has
turned over that roster, making it a winner no matter
who the coach was, no matter who the offense, The
quarterback no matter who it was, they were always winners.
So I don't know why they went with a guy
who wasn't interviewing for a GM job anywhere else. Like
they asked him, why'd you choose the Jets job? Maybe
because they were the only ones who were offering you
a job. He's like, oh, this organization, No, it's because

(16:56):
they were the only ones offering you a job. But okay, fine.
They decide to hot to fire Joe Douglas. For him
his first action, his first business needs to be extend
Garrett Wilson, work on a contract for Breest Hall, work
on a contract for Sauce Gardner. Figure out a way
to keep Jamien Sherwood next to Quincy william As those
two linebackers. Jamien Sherwood had a breakout year this year.

(17:19):
Figure out what you're doing with DJ Reied, Michael Carter
and those corners. Figure out a way to keep the
players who are already here. That's the biggest thing. Keep
the players who are already here, keep continuity with those players.
And then all of a sudden, all you're doing is
plugging a few holes there and there. Because, like I said,
this roster can be really good. I think it has
the bones of a really good roster. You just need
to fill out the edges a little bit. And I'm

(17:40):
curious because I saw you pointing, I'm curious what your
thoughts are on Jordan Travis.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Well, no, I mean I was doing the Florida State
seminole at the chop Oh.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
I got you yo.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
I mean, you know, I watched Florida State and watch
Jordan Travis when he was at Florida State, and you
know what, it really impressed me in his development from
his junior year becoming more of a passer.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
And look, you know he.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Just sat behind Rogers this whole year.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, yeah, cale man.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
And then he had the big stud wide receiver Johnny Mitch.
I think his name is what I know, Johnny Mitchell
is a big tight end for the Jets.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
But back in the days. But you know, you know,
the Jets are gonna figure it out.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
I really really believe that they're gonna figure otherwise. It's
just you know, it's just again, it's just a matter
of time and really being patient. But who knows, they
might catch lightning in the bottle you mentioned about Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
We have the Super Bowl all.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Set it's about a workout or so, who do you
like in this Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Who do you have that wins?

Speaker 3 (18:46):
I can't ever bet against Patrick Mahomes. And last year
I had a future on them because remember earlier in
the year they were struggling quote unquote, people were kind
of moving off of the Chiefs, which was crazy to me,
and so I was like, they're plus eight hundred right now,
I'm gonna And then I bet them again when they
were plus six hundred, and I kept betting them until
I got like till it got to the Super Bowl.
By time we got to Super Bowl, I had, you know,

(19:06):
a couple hundred bucks on the Chiefs. And guess what,
when they were down a couple scores in the fourth quarter,
I was so relaxed. I was just sitting their arms
fold and watching you like, he's gonna figure it out.
He's gonna figure out a way to do it. How
about all year they don't score thirty points and then
the Bills, their offense is clicking, they're running down their
throat and mahomesplits up thirty points for the first time

(19:27):
all year. What do you know, like when they need
the biggest plays, like the designed rollout play like that
was a play they didn't run all year, or the
throw to win the game right to p Ryan, who
hadn't had a single catch all game, Like it's Andy Reid,
it's Patrick Mahomes. I'm never going to bet against them.
And so while I think the Eagles can line turn around,
line up, turn around, and hand the ball to Saquon

(19:48):
Barkley sixty times and win the game, they really could.
They could just run it down their throat. We saw
Josh Allen and James Cook running down their throw. I
don't know. Something tells me Spags is gonna find something
to some sort of way to trick up Jalen Hurts
late in this game like he did to Josh Allen
and Patrick Mahomes is gonna work as magic. And we're
gonna see the first three pet And by the way,

(20:09):
Jet fans understand this, if you're a Jet fan, you
should be rooting for the Chiefs. You have no ill
will against the Chiefs. First of all, as New Yorkers,
we hate Philly, right, so that's across the board. But
second of all, we have no ill will towards the Chiefs.
If anything, we want them to overtake the Patriots dynasty
and Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. So root for the Chiefs,
root for greatness, and appreciate the greatness. There are so

(20:30):
many people who are constantly moaning and bitching about oh
the Chiefs, and they keep getting the calls and over
stop it, like, just appreciate what you're watching. Their greatness.
You know why they take advantage of every time they
get the slightest favor, they take advantage of it. That's
why we remember it. So it's true greatness. I'm not

(20:51):
gonna stop rooting against greatness. It's especially what they're doing.
And look, I can't wait to see that more. I
think there's no barring injuries, no reason why they can't
win five Super Bowls in a row.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah, yeah, I think that. It's funny you say that
because after the game in which they beat Buffalo, I
had two takeaways Number one. I feel for the Buffalo.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Bills fans, you know I do.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
It's almost like they went from Jim Kelly to Josh
Allen and now this they're just continuing to add people
from Scott Norwood to Kick k you know, the indulgence.
They're adding people that will live in infamy in terms
of just the pain.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
But they can't beat the kNs City.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Chiefs right psychologically. Look, they had them in their house,
they couldn't beat them. They beat them this somewhat in
the regular season, but they've always been there. They just
can't get over the hump. And then the second thing
I said, immediately, if I am the Cincinnati Bengals, I'm
trying to figure out a way to keep t Higgins
and Jamar Chase with Joe Burrow and say, look, if

(22:02):
we tighten up our defense, we figure out a way
to keep those guys. Helldud go into the salary cap
for the next three four years. Sign those guys because
in my heart and just assessing them what the Cincinnati
Bengals have been able to do in the past, they're
the only team that has gone into our ahead and
beat them in the playoffs with the money game, and

(22:24):
every time they've played it just seemed apparent that the
Chiefs have the respect of the Cincinnati Bengals, and that's
a team that really scares them. If you look at
this year, you know the Bengals needed to help, you know,
in terms of getting their playoffs.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Andy Reid said, oh, you know what, we're gonna rest
our guys.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah, they didn't want to see them.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
They didn't want to see them.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Like I don't believe that Lamar Jackson the Ravens can
beat them.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
We already talked about the Bills.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
There's nobody in the AFC that can dethrone the kan
City Chiefs other than the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
And if I am.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
A AFC team, collectively, they need to start getting together
and saying, how do we stop.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
This monster that's in Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Because a lot of people focused on Chris Patrick, Mahomes
and Travis Kelsey, but you got Chris Jones on.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
That defensive side, Say what you want. He's a guy
that's a force to be reckoned with.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
But like you mentioned, there's no reason why they can't
go for four peat or five.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
Peak, barring any injuries or setbacks.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
But Cincinnati is that team I really believe that could
really stop them. If you had to pick a team
in that AFC to perhaps dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs,
who would it be in your estimation?

Speaker 3 (23:39):
And that's the crazy part, because all the top quarterbacks
in the league are in the AFC. Who's the top
quarterback in the NFC, Matthew Stafford. Is it Jayden Daniels
after one year? One yo? I'm a Bucks fan, Baker Mayfield,
That's what I'm saying, Like, who's the top quarterback? There
aren't great quarterbacks in the NFC. I mean, you got
to give credit to Dak and Jalen Hurts, but again

(24:00):
those guys have been inconsistent. So who's the best quarterback
in the NFC? Not a lot. There's all in the AFC.
When you think about Lamar and Josh Allen and Joe
Burrow and even guys young guys like CJ. Stroud, these
are the top quarterbacks in the league. These are guys
who all things aside, would be having all time great careers.
This is the next generation of great quarterbacks that we're

(24:22):
always looking for. This is the next Mahomes. Not Mahomes,
but Brady and Breeze and Rogers and Manning. These are
those guys, and none of them can beat Patrick Mahomes.
He's been in the AFC Championship Game every single season
that he started in the league, seven consecutive years. I think. Actually,
this is the anniversary of the day that the Chiefs

(24:42):
traded Alex Smith to Washington in order to clear the way,
clear the path for Patrick Mahomes. And since they've done that,
he's been in the AFC Championship Game every year. And oh,
by the way, if d Ford is in a quarter
of an inch off side, Super Bowl almost every year,
he would have been in that game.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
And by the way, when people talk about, oh, we've
never seen anyone get the calls like this, you just
saw Brady get all those calls, including against the Chiefs,
So like, yes, we've seen this before and now it's
this is the next generation. I agree with you the Bengals,
I think they're too cheap to do it, but they're
the team they are. And Joe Borrow, by the way,
if they don't sign him, he should ask out because
he could go somewhere else, especially if he gets traded

(25:23):
to the NFC. He'd be the best quarterback instantly in
the NFC by far. He'd be in the Super Bowl
every year, he'd be the Mahomes of the NFC. So
if they're not willing to fully invest, and that's what
he has to do. He has to look around and say, guys,
we need to keep everyone here because we saw the
Chiefs are terrified of us. Way that offense got clicking
in the second half, I don't know if the Chiefs
offense would have been able to keep up, it would

(25:44):
have been a shootout. I don't know if the Chiefs
offense would have been able to keep up with the
Bengals offense in a playoff game. And so if that's
the one team that I think is closest, I don't
look the only person who's played great in the games
against and this is why I feel terrible for him.
I don't feel bad for Bills fans, because guess what,
as a Jet fan, I'd rather have all the pain
and suffering of the Bills fans that they've had their

(26:04):
entire lives than have nothing at all, which is what
we have as Jets fans. But I do feel bad
for Josh because he's played his He's played out of
his mind in these games. He's played so well. Think
about how he drives down takes the lead with Gabe
Davis in that game a couple of years ago, the
thirteen second game. Think about this year. He played out
of his mind in this game after trying to give

(26:25):
it away early, where he throws basically two dropped interceptions
on the first drive. From that point on, he played
really well. So Josh Allen is the only one who's
actually gone into Arrowhead and played so well against the
Chiefs and yet he still can't beat them. So like
Lamar hasn't played well enough in those games to feel
bad for him. It's like, hey, Lamar played better, and

(26:45):
I thought Lamar played an excellent game in Buffalo, and
that wasn't on him. I really thought that he played
a really good game against Buffalo in Buffalo and he
could have won that game. And I liked the Ravens
against the Chiefs better because I think the Ravens defense,
what they've done in the second half of the season
was better. So I still think that it's between those
three teams that you mentioned, and any one of them
has a chance. And the only question is, and this

(27:06):
is a real question, is when is Mahomes gonna have
to face two of those teams in a playoff run
like all these times he only has to face one
of them in any given playoff run, right, because wait, man, I.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
Mean he played, he played he had Baltimore last year
in Baltimore minus Derek Henry. You know.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
I mean, look, I know, but the point is that
he always gets the buye. He always gets home field advantage.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
I know.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
Last year was the year. Last year was the chance.
And by the way, Joe Burrow is going to regret
losing that Super Bowl. I know he was young. I
know he was early in the league and it was
you know, he may ever get there again past Mahomes.
So like that's the one that he's going to be
kicking himself for not losing to Mahomes. He's gonna be
kicking himself. But the one time he beat Mahomes, he
wasn't able to get the job done.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's funny you mentioned about Baltimore,
and you know, I look at the charges and I
would say, oh yeah. But the thing about it is
when you look at the dynamic of maybe even Baltimore,
what really worries me is the fact is that you
don't have multiple options. Right when you look at Lamar Jackson,
Derrick Henry, Jay Flowers, Hollywood Brad. Are those guys really

(28:15):
Jay Flowers and stuff? Are those wide receivers going to
demand the attention and that secondary to say, Okay, we're
gonna double this guy. When you look at the other
teams and stuff, they just don't have the offensive weaponry.
When you look at the Bengals if you double look
Jamar Chase against the Steelers in two games, and I mean,

(28:37):
granted it's the Steelers, but a stealer defense. If I'm
not mistaken, it's the Steelers, or maybe I think it
was the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
If I'm not mistaken, he put up four hundred yards.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
So yeah, it was against the Ravens. They had that
crazy shootout. And now you have Pace Brown also in
the backfield, like you have weapons there in Cincinnati, You're right,
and even in the Chiefs they don't really have the
weaponlegue almost how much longer Kelsey's gonna be playing.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Yeah, I mean they figure out a way, Like everybody
included including yours, truly, I thought that they would take
a step back when they got rid of Tyreek Hill
on the show.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
That again, they will find ways to win it. And
it's gonna be really interesting to see.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
How because if they win this one, you gotta have
multiple options that demand that defense to respect. And if
you're talking about a team double team, and Jamar Chase,
T Higgins and the Gooseki was eating and stuff. You
gotta have multiple guys to defeat this team, and you
gotta have competent quarterback play. So it remains to be seen.

(29:40):
But Robny, listen as we close out. You know, what
would be the expectation you as a fan and a
person in the media that covers the Jets, would you
think would be the expectation if you had to speak
for all Jet fans for this upcoming season, for season
one of Aaron, what would be the expectations?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Realistically?

Speaker 3 (30:05):
I think you have to expect a nine to eight season.
At least. You have to break the streak of the
losing seasons, have a respectable season. You have the roster
to do it, regardless of the quarterback. If you get
league average quarterback play, you should have a winning season.
I'm sorry you're gonna be playing a last play schedule.

(30:28):
You're a bad team, right Like, just beat the teams
you're supposed to be and look different. That's what I
want to see. I want to see. I don't want
to see the penalties. I don't want to see the
mindless plays. We saw it in that playoff game with Detroit.
The twelve men on the field of the most crucial spot.
I don't want to see that. I'm tired of all
of that. I just want to see, like gain a

(30:49):
little bit of the respect back. And that's why I said, like,
my expectation would be the same if they had brought
in a veteran head coach, would just be gain a
little bit respect back, start to build towards a franchise.
That can be, that's all.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
But the team is built to win, now, Roy, you
got and.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
That's the front. That's the frustrating part of it. And
by the way, you know, we just got done talking
about all the good teams in the AFC. Even if
they would win, now, how to what extent can they win?
They're built to win now. Can they beat the Chiefs?
Can they beat the Ravens in a playoff game? Can
they beat all these teams who have been their time
and time again? Probably not.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
