going for the state. I'm headingright for the crown. Maybe pretty soon
I can be like the number oneGT podcast in the South. My name
is Michael Bridges, and I amthe GT n AP coordinator for the Alma
(00:32):
School District here in Alma, Arkansas, and I want to welcome you in
to the podcast. Has the nerve, the audacity, and the unmitigated gaul
to just come right out and ask, hey, what's your deal. We
are super excited because this week wehave our first GT student, Right,
(00:53):
I'm like, finally we have ourfirst GT student. My hope is that
now that I have this GTT student, I'm going to be able to kind
of have several quite a few thatare lining up and ready to go and
ready to do this. So I'msuper excited that we're going to have Zeke
on here in a moment to talkto you about our good friend Bigfoot.
(01:15):
And I just wanted to take amoment and say thank you to all the
people out there who are listening, who've provided feedback, who've liked it,
who've shared it, who shared itwith their friends. I want to thank
you to all the students who arelistening who come up to me and said,
hey, mister b you know whatthat podcast needs just a couple more
sound effects, which you know,I'm not sure I totally agree with that,
(01:37):
but again, I just want tosay thank you because our goal here
is to get the message out aboutgifted students, and not just gifted students,
but the gifted students here at AlmaSchool District. So I'm really looking
forward to bringing that to you, just like our good friend Zeke, who
is here to tell you about hisfriend Bigfoot. All right, so we
(02:08):
are here today with our very firstguest, my good friend Zeke from fifth
grade. So, Zeke, howis a fifth grade going good? I'm
pretty sure I'm getting good grades andreading and math. You're pretty sure?
Or you're like sure, sure, sure, sure, sure, sure,
okay, sure sure it's good,Sure, sure is good. So,
(02:29):
um, what is your favorite subject? Zeke? Reading? Reading? Okay,
Like, is there any any particulartype of books that you like?
I like like dragon books that havelike a lot of story to them.
Okay, they leave you on theCliffhanger, and then the next book it
tells you all about what's gonna happen. Okay, Okay, so you like,
(02:52):
I mean like fantasy books. Haveyou read like Lord of the Rings
or anything like that. No,but I'm starting to read Harry Potter,
Harry Potter, there you go,There you go, Harry Potter, Lord
of the Rings, Hobbit, thoseare those are all really good books.
Chronicles of Narnia is really good too, if you haven't read those. And
I don't think there's dragons in there, but it's still got some good stories
and everything in there. So youknow, we could sit here and we
(03:13):
could shoot the breeze all day long. But I believe you probably came here
with a specific thing to talk about. So, Zeke, why don't you
go ahead and tell me what isyour deal? The biggest, harriest Bigfoot?
Bigfoot? Now, I must admitthat that's a fairly interesting topic for
(03:35):
um A fifth grade or so,why why did you want to talk about
Bigfoot today? Well? Bigfoot hasbeen around for many, many generations and
it's like really famous, mostly inNorthern America. Okay, Um, so
where do they I mean, wheredoes it I guess where does Bigfoot call
home? Mostly in like mountaineer areasmore north to us, I'd say,
(04:01):
kind of like Arkansas, and yeah, the Ozart Mountains and Washita and all
that good stuff. Yeah, soyou're saying that Bigfoot could be among us
right now? Probably nice. Nice. So how in the world did you
first become interested in Bigfoot? Whatbrought you to be? Like, Hey,
I like I'm gonna talk about Bigfoot. So this might sound really funny,
(04:26):
but I stumbled up on Bigfoot bya YouTuber okay, which is probably
really funny. But then I startedlike searching up Bigfoot on YouTube, and
then I just became like interested.I guess. Okay, So you've seen
like the films of Bigfoot, likewalking through the woods and the one where
he kind of turns and looks back, and so you've seen those. Um
(04:48):
So, what's what's maybe the mostinteresting YouTube video you've seen on Bigfoot?
Well, probably one um so theHistory channel it has a YouTube channel for,
and monster Quest has a lot ofthings on Bigfoot. Bigfoot and ses
squats at the same thing, Bigfoot, the YETI and all that good stuff.
(05:10):
Yeah, monster Quest has like abunch of interesting things on there,
Like there's all sorts of crazy fishon there, and like stuff you can
find like yeah in rivers and lakesthat will make you like never go swim
in a river or lake ever again. Um, now you're not just interested
in like Bigfoot alone, you're writinga book? Is that correct? Yes?
I actually am. Okay, Sowhat what? How? How did
(05:31):
that come about? So I've actuallyalways wanted to write a book, and
then whenever I stumbled upon Boogfoot,I was like, all right, let's
do Bigfoot. So what have you? What have you kind of you know,
we don't want to give it away, We don't want somebody to come
in sneak and steal your book. But what have you kind of been writing
your book about? Just different Bigfootstories or no? So, Um,
(05:54):
someone was like waking up for inthe morning and then they just heard this
really loud roar in the background,Like yeah, okay, So they were
really they just thought it was theyjust woke up and they were like hearing
things. So and then they theywere downstairs eating breakfast and then they heard
(06:19):
it again, and then so theyhe posted it and everyone a lot of
people thought he was crazy, butsome people believed him, and so he
called him up and then they camedown him. Why do you why do
you think it's so hard for peopleto believe in Bigfoot? Because you you
(06:40):
believe in Bigfoot? Right, yes, okay, So why do you think
it's so hard for other people tobelieve believe in Bigfoot? Well, I
mean Bigfoot is so harry, likeyou know, monkey costumes like someone could
be in yeah, like guerrilla costumesand stuff. Yeah, but I don't
think they realize, uh that inthe Patterson Field it was made in like
the fifties. Yes, so hewas like doing a walk and no other
(07:09):
person could do that because they gotan athlete and he couldn't really do it.
Yeah. I think they said thesteps, the distance between his steps,
there wasn't another human being that couldlike mimic that, right, because
of the way the human the humanbody is made up. Yeah okay,
but they also you know, theysay the big Foot, Bigfoot is like
(07:29):
the world Hide and Seek champion becauseyou know, nobody, nobody ever sees
them, right, So why doyou think if you believe in Bigfoot,
why do you think not many peoplesee Bigfoot? Like, well, some
people might not live in the areasthat bigfoot would bostly be in. Okay,
yeah, like like deep woods andareas like that. Yeah, so
he people think he might communicate withother bigfoot. There might be more bigfoot
(07:55):
out there, because like sometimes oncesomeone found a big foot doing whoop like
that in the woods, like makingsounds and noises. Yeah. So do
they think like when big is itlike I mean, is it like that?
Or do they think it's high pitched? What do it? So?
(08:16):
Science, real scientists tried to likelisten, and it's hard for us to
do it because if we did it, we would like something bad would happened
to our lungs or something, becauseit goes from like a low and then
like a little Okay, yeah,so it might be like us trying to
make like the sound of a whale, which you know, the whale to
(08:37):
big huge lungs and everything like that. We can't really can't really mimic it.
So what's, um, what's themost interesting thing that you have to
like tell somebody about Bigfoot? Well, um, bigfoot is actually might be
an evolution of primates. Okay,so they think like the like like the
(09:01):
missing link type thing, like it'sthe link between a gorilla and a human
being kind of yeah, because um, so once a big thing was thrown
out of the cabin and it shookthe entire cabin. No one knew what
it was, and then so theyset a board of screws and then they
think bigfoot stepped on it, andthey had blood samples they tested it and
(09:26):
it was like human primate mixed together. Interesting. Interesting, And I saw
on your notes you had something aboutwhat was it the legend of Boggy Mountain
or something like that, Um,Boggy Creek, I think, because I
think so, Yeah, that's likean area in Arkansas. Yeah, foulk.
I think it's foulk Arkansas. Imay be mispronouncing that. But have
(09:48):
you have you seen that movie? No? I have, but your dad
has, right, Yeah, yourdad, Your dad's the one who wrote
the notes. Yeah, it's Iknow, there's a big there's like a
big foot. I want to sayit's a museum, but there's like a
thing there and you can get allsorts of t shirts and there's also did
you know that there is actually afestival in Mina, a bigfoot festival?
(10:09):
No, I actually did not.Yeah, Mina, Arkansas, there is
a big Foot Festival, and Ibelieve it happens in September. We just
missed it because I honestly started lookingat it and was like, well,
maybe we can go on a fieldtrip because I know the Mansfield Gifted and
Talented program went on a field tripto like this Bigfoot festival and really enjoyed
it. So we may have tolook at trying to go to that because
that can be pretty cool. Sois there anything else you know you might
(10:33):
want to say about bigfoot or so? Once in twenty sixteen there was a
big Foot organization meeting in Alma. Here in Alma, Arkansas. Really,
So is there like because I thinkI've seen it. There's like different Bigfoot
chapters right, like like bigfoot seekersor people like that. Yeah, scientists,
(10:56):
multiple people. Like I've been thinkingto myself, if I ever go
hunting for bigfoot, I'm gonna bringlike good dark gun or something. Would
I might bring something bigger than adark I think, because you know bigfoot,
bigfoot kind of looks big. Yes, I guess would be the best
the best way to put it.Okay, So you know, you know
(11:20):
the rules here if you come onthe show, you have to be able
to do a shout out to somebody. It's somebody you know means something to
you. So is there somebody you'dlike to give on a shout out to?
And why do you want to givea shout out to that person?
So go ahead and lay that onme, Maddox Fry, my amazing friend.
Okay, So what is amazing aboutMaddox? Well, he's like really
(11:43):
funny and he like I've known himfor since third grade all the way up
to this and our moms were actuallyfriends in like high school or something.
Wow, so it's like second generationfriends there. Huh yeah, all right,
well Maddox Fry, you get ourfirst student shout out. So this
one is for you, all right. Little John can't beat Little John?
(12:09):
You know? One more time?Just makes you happy every time you hear
it. Well, Zeke, isthere anything else that you wanted to say
about Bigfoot? Or not? Really? But have you ever seen like that
big Foot film where like people atBigfoot in their car? No? Oh
(12:31):
wait, I've seen like Harry andthe Hendersons. Yes, yes, the
comedy. Yes that thing is hilarious. Yes, yes, I love Harry
and the henderson So yeah, ifyou want to go watch something Bigfoot related
and maybe not be scared Harry andthe Hendersons would be a good way to
go, right Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, as I look over
the horizon after we've been talking aboutBigfoot and giving away government secrets, I'm
(12:54):
kind of seeing the helicopters are startingto move in to Zeke, I think
we'd better head for the hills andmaybe hide out before the government comes to
get us and we disappear and nobodysees us again. Yes, all right,
Zeke, thank you so much forcoming on. He So there you
have it, ladies and gentlemen, our very first episode with a gifted student
(13:16):
is in the books. Big thanksonce again to my man Zeke for coming
on, being brave and you know, stepping on a podcast and a recording
putting a mic in his face.I thought he did great. I thought
he did an awesome, awesome job. So I hope you continue listening.
