(00:22):

the Mighty nineteen Media Group and sponsoredby Sky Golf. This week we'll be
discussed in the three M Open beingplayed in Blaine, Minnesota, Lis this
episode number sixty with the asterisk. You may ask, well, if you're
devoted listener to the podcast, andif you are a devoted listener, I

(00:45):
deeply appreciate you. But if you'redevoted listener, then you realize that this
is the first Hidden Gems in acouple of weeks. It hasn't been because
of a lack of trying. Episodenumber sixty eight was all but done,
and even episode sixty nine that wasthe Barber Saul was almost complete. Let's
not even talk about the open podcast. Good grief. Technology is my mortal

(01:07):
enemy and stop those from coming out. But fortunately those problems have been fixed,
I think temporarily at least. Andif you hear my voice today.
Then we have indeed gotten revenge againstevil machines. We must rise up against
computers. Down with artificial intelligence, human insanity over in modern technology every day

(01:29):
of the week, unless, ofcourse, you need a caddy, then
it's skygoff all the way. Ofcourse, this is the ninety media Grow
presentation. Now let's not tempt thecomputer gods anymore and get started with the
show. This week, we're previewingthe three M Open being played at the
TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. Blaine is a suburb of Indianapolis and

(01:49):
it's about twenty minutes drive away fromthe city. TPC Twin Cities was built
in two thousand under the direction ofthe Great Arno Palmer. It was renovated
in two thousand and eighteen by SteveWesloff as the course was transformed from a
Senior Tour event to a PGA event. The first three Open was played later
that year and has been at TPCTwin Cities ever since. The course is

(02:12):
of par seventy one seven thousand, four hundred and thirty and one yards and
it features bent grass on the greensand the fairways, while the rough is
a blue grass rescue mix. Thefairways and its surroundings are a key of
this course. The wide fairways areinviting, but there is a ton of
water on the course. In fact, there are twenty seven water hazards that

(02:34):
factor into fifteen of the eighteen holes. There's a lot of risk reward situations
on the course, particularly for longerhitters who gamble on cutting corners. The
end result of these elements create atournament that features high birdies and better rates,
but also high double bogie rates.History has shown that this course can
absolutely be bullied by bombers. Lastyear at Tony Fani won this event at

(02:59):
seventeen under. In twenty twenty oneit was Cameron Champ at fifteen under,
and in twenty nineteen it was MatthewWolf at twenty one under, defeating Bryson
d Shambo along with Colin Markcowa byone stroke. Of course, Wolf,
Champ, Female and Bryson are amongthe game's longest hitters. You may have
noticed that I skipped twenty twenty. That year the winner was Michael Thompson,

(03:21):
who would completely destroying my narrative becausehe is not a long time I actually
think that bit of anomaly greatly affectedby the rain that they had that weekend.
That something to keep in mind.If three M opened is hit by
storms again, but it shouldn't bethis year as it expected to be lazing
out there, so I note myfamily is here being silent. Let me
get through this. That's got anythingto say. Oh, they gave silent

(03:43):
golf collapse, So proud of them. Let's give them some applause. Up
top, it's pretty interesting defendant championTony Feenale and second place finisher Son jam
Of last year. Of both here. Their talent is undeniable, but both
haven't been exactly playing at the topof the game as of late. Of

(04:05):
course, you could say the samemultiplied by a lot. If you get
to Justin Thomas. He's had arough season. Could this be where he
turns it around? Maybe? Butif I had to pick one of my
favorites to bet on, it willbe Cameron Young. He certainly has the
length and he certainly has the talentto win the three M. A little
bit further down the line, Ilike Amiliano Grillo, and he's played well

(04:28):
here, finishing second in twenty twentytwo and third in twenty twenty and Adam
Hadwin has also played well here too. To a lesser degree, the saying
would be said of JT. Poston, who's been playing better as of late.
Youngsters Austin ecro dug him and risingstar Ludvic Abbert also have to be
considered. But enough of the guysup top. Let's dig deeper. Friends

four hundred. Click on my linkin the description and watch your game grow
with sky Golf and now your featuredpresentation. First up is one hundred and
fifty seven rank player in the world, twenty four year old Garrett Higgo.
Doing well off the tea is keythis week, and that is Higgo's game.

(05:56):
He's ranked thirty six on the touringdistance and eighteenth in equal rate.
The South African has been consistently gainingagainst the field off the tea this whole
season. I'm not overly concerned abouthis miscut here last year, as he's
been playing better this year compared tolast anyway, and he's been really solid
in his last three outings thirty thirdat the Rocking Mortgage, twenty first at

(06:17):
John Deere and nineteenth at the Scottishoper I like the way he's trending along
those same lines as another South Africaone hundred and sixty six ranked player in
the world, thirty four year oldMJ McDuffie. Mcduffee can rip it off
the seat. He has ranked twentysix on the tour in driving distance and
he had quite a run between lateFebruary through April where he seemed to be

(06:40):
coming into his own, including atwenty first at the Honda, a nineteenth
at the Valspar and a fifteenth atthe Valero. Then he hit a rough
patch, but he's made his lastfive cuts. He's been putting well as
of late and can go after iton the tea. I'm not looking for
a win, but at top forty, maybe a top twenty, I think
I'll take it. And finally, let's try to catch a falling knife with

(07:01):
the Trey Mullinex, the thirty oneyear old, is one hundred and fifteenth
ranked player in the world, butis a much longer shot than the two
guys I mentioned earlier, with goodreason. He's missed twelve of his last
thirteen cuts that may cut. Itwas a forty seventh at the Wells Fargo.
He also missed the cut in hisonly try here. So why am

(07:21):
I picking him? Well, it'ssimply continuing my trend with Bombers, Trey
his seventeenth in the PGA, anddistance. There aren't many courses on the
tour that rewards distance like TBC TwinCities, and on the occasions that Monex
shows up on leaderboards, it isbuilt office long game. Is there a
chance they hits a couple into thewater and that's the end for him?

(07:43):
Sure, but if he keeps ita hazard free it could be a pretty
interesting weekend for him and my bettingslips. All right, that's all I
got. I don't want to attemptto technology anymore. I appreciate it for
holding up. I appreciate my family, and I appreciate all of you guys
want the same thing. I'm talking. Hello, Hi guys. Keep keep

(08:28):
digging, okay, so keep digging, keep digging, keep taking, keep
digging. Let's keep taking like amillion times. Keep digging in and then
you'll find treasure in the snow. You know it's recording your audio. Now
you're not, you're dancing. Iknow. Did you did anything? Did

(08:56):
keep digging? Well? Oh mygoodness.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
