This week, the PGA tour leaves the west coast and heads down to Florida for The Cognizant Classic (formerly the Honda Classic). The field thins out after a couple of top names, but that is right in the wheel house of Hidden Gems Golf.

This event is known for scores in the single digits for winners and cut lines well above par. If there is wind, there will be blood. The MoJoKing believes this course is harder to scout than most, but that can work to our advantage!

It's fun. It's fast. It's Hidden Gems Golf.

Welcome to Hitting Gem's Golf, wherewe dig a little bit deeper to find
secret treasure for your betting and DFSpleasure. Yeah Baby, Hello, Hall,

(00:22):
I am the Mojoe King and thisis episode number seventy eight of Hidden
Gems Golf, brought to you bythe Mighty nineteen Media Group and sponsored by
Sky Golf. This week we're previewingthe Cognizant Classic formerly known as the Honda
Classic, being played in Palm Beach, Florida. There's much to discuss this
week, so let's just jump righton into it. As far as last

(00:44):
week's results, some good, somebad, that's just the facts of life.
Were the two D wasn't she acuity? The good news about last week
was all my primary picks on theshow made the cut. The bad news
was none of them were elite.Ecrot Vegas came in twenty fourth, thirty
eighth, and sixtieth respectively, whichis fine, but considering the top twenty

(01:10):
was chock full of long shots,I have to feel a bit disappointed.
Hopefully one of you all out therehad Ben Silverman top twenty as a betan.
If he did, you are muchbetter at this than me and should
start your own podcast by yourself amicrophone with your winnings, and go find
a couple of cool sound effects toadd some bazazz. All right. This

(01:36):
week we're discussing the Kindnessant Classic inthe Palm Beaches, being played on the
Championship Course at the PGA National Resortand Spa in Palm Beach, Florida.
The Championship course was built by TomFazzio and his uncle George in nineteen eighty
one and has been renovated multiple timesby Jack Nicholas. The course is a

(01:57):
par seventy one seven and forty sevenyards. That par seventy one is a
change from the last ten years whenit was a par seventy. Maybe Honda
didn't approve of the change and leftin protest. Probably not the reason to
change sponsors, but regardless, theconversion of the tenth hole from a par
four to aquir five should have adramatic effect on scoring. More on that

(02:20):
in a bit. The course featuresbermuda grass in the fairways and greens.
The rough is overseated with perennial ryegrass. The fairways are on the short
side but very thin, The roughis rough, and the greens are fast.
There are plenty of bunkers on thecourse, but the main events of
PGA National is wind and water. There's a chance of hitting a ball in

(02:43):
the water in fifteen of the eighteenholes. Combine that with traditionally strong multi
directional wins and you have one ofthe tougher courses on the tour. Last
year, Chris Kirk defeated Eric Colein a playoff. In twenty twenty two
steps Straka one at ten under onestroke ahead of Shane Lowry. In twenty
twenty one, Matt Jones crushed thefield, winning at twelve under five strokes

(03:07):
over Brandon Hagy. Kind of astrange list of names as far as the
top of the leaderboard. Some ofthat is because this is traditionally a weak
field, but mostly it is dueto wind and water. Maybe more interesting
on the leaderboard is the bottom part. The cut line for these three years
were plus one, plus two,and plus one, respectively. Of course,

(03:30):
even making a cut may not endyour struggles for the week. Last
place for players who made the cutthese years were plus nine, plus twelve,
and plus ten. If you're playingfantasy and your guys make the cut,
celebrate, but celebrate very shortly becauseyou have to see what happens on
the weekend. But now, ifyou're looking for the brighter side, there

(03:52):
should be lower scores this week. That ten tole being a par five now
from a par four means more burnand possibly eagles. That's your push the
cut line closer to par and maygive us a winner in the teams,
or maybe not. Don't forget windand order Hi. This is sports talk
show host Gerald Brown. Super excitedto be a part of the newest show

(04:16):
on nineteen media groups, Heavy inthe Paint with George Truley, an NBA
champion, former NBA player, theoriginal bad boy mister Rick Mahorn. Now,
this show will not only just focuson the NBA, but we got
the Major League Baseball covered, wegot the NFL covered better, yet we

(04:36):
got sports talk cover like none other. We're gonna give you the realist of
it all, and we're gonna giveyou stuff that is engaging and thought provoking.
Don't go anywhere, because it allgoes down where Heavy in the Paint
pete. Almost as difficult as golfingon this course is predicting which golfers would

(04:58):
do well here. Of course, history, even for golfers who've played well
here is inconsistent. For example,Sun Jam he won the event in twenty
twenty. Since then he was eighthpretty good, but then a miscut and
a forty second and that's not justan m thing. It is tough to
have a clean course history here. Not surprisingly, perative tournaments also feel a

(05:20):
bit uneasy trying to figure out it'shard to find a similar leaderboard when you
have inconsistent leaderboard at the event you'relooking at. There are not many short
courses with tough scoring and also weakfield on the tour, so I widen
my net when looking for comparative tournamentsand look for players who can at least

(05:40):
pop at one or two of thefollowing tournaments. The players Pebble Beach,
RBC Heritage, the Sony, theWindow and the three M Open. Looking
at recent form also seems like abit of a futile idea, as this
course plays completely different from other recentevents Historically, play is coming off of
horrific form have looked pretty good atPGA West on occasion. Lastly, the

(06:06):
large one hundred and forty four playerfield means that the majority of golfers will
not make it to the weekend, and with the volatility of this course,
that means some of the favorites willbe going home after Friday's round. This
is the ninety Media Group presentation. All right, I just rattle off a
bunch of things that make this eventtough to predict. One thing that I

(06:30):
still hadn't mentioned was that how thetop players here are not exactly in top
form. Rory McElroy has been okay, Sun Jam has been less than okay,
and Matthew Fitzpatrick has been pretty bad. So with all of that said,
I'm gonna go a little bit deeper. Even up top, I'm going
with Eric Cole, Russell, Henley, Shane Lowry and Stephen Jaeger. The

(06:53):
first three will be highly owned.I suspect a little bit further down,
I may also kick the tires onJust Rose and Matthew Bevan. But let's
search for some true hidden gems, shall we, And now your featured presentation.
First up the veteran euros the fiftyninth ranked player in the world,
twenty nine year old Christian Bizunahult, and the sixty seventh ranked player in the

(07:16):
world forty one year old Alex NorrinBazudehult has three top twenty fives in his
five twenty twenty four events, sohe's been playing well so far this year,
and he also has a top twentyfive at the PGA National back in
twenty twenty two. Meanwhile, Norinfor me is an AutoPlay at tough scoring

(07:36):
events. The more difficult the conditions, the more I like him. Next
up a couple of up and comers, the one hundred and sixteenth ranked twenty
seven year old Brandon Wu and onehundred and forty seventh ranked twenty seven year
old Doug Gim. Wu actually checksalmost all of my indicators that I want

(07:57):
this week. He's done really wellat comp tournament and his stats point towards
success. Meanwhile, Doug gim hasbeen playing really well this year. Now.
As much as I said recent historyis not that important with Gim,
I look at it slightly different becauseI think he's finally playing up to his
potential. Yes, I am littleworried about his history here when he's missed

(08:18):
three straight cuts, but I justthink he's a different player this year.
Finally, the wild card, crazyCatch, falling knife picks of the Week
the one hundred and seventieth ranked playerin the world, thirty nine year old
Nicholas Lenheim and the one hundred andninety second ranked player in the world,
twenty three year old Joe Heismith. Now Lenheim has not looked good in his

(08:41):
two events this year, missing bothcuts. However, it's hard to overlook
just how strong he was playing lastyear. Meanwhile, young mister Heismith will
never ever be able to compete ona long course, but he has a
superior around the green game, andthat might be big here at PGA West.

(09:03):
All right, quickly to rehab. We have Henley Lowry, Jaeger,
Norrid Bazudenhole Woo, Pavon, Lindheim, high Smith, and I forgot dug
in. That's it for the week. I appreciate you all for checking me
out. Good luck this week.Take care and keep digging, keep digging,

(09:48):
okay, so keep digging, keeptaking, keep taking, keep digging.
Let's keep taking like a million times, keep digging in and then you'll
find treasure in the snow. Youknow, it's recording your audio, not
you, not your dancing. Iknow. Keep digging. Well, oh

(10:22):
my goodness. The more difficult it, the more difficult, the more difficult
the conditions the more are like friendsof hitting gems. Let me introduce sky

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
