Welcome to Hitting Jem's Golf, wherewe dig a little bit deeper to find
secret treasure for your betting and DFSpleasure. Yeah Baby, Hello all,

(00:22):
I am the Mojo King and thisis take two of episode number fifty nine
of Hidden Gems Golf, brought toyou by the Mighty nineteen Media Group.
This week we'll be discussing the Mastersbeing played in Augusta, Georgia. The
time has come. The first majorof the year is here. Are you
excited? I'm sure you are.I am not as excited as you might
expect. I'll get to that injust a moment, but before I do,

(00:45):
let me point out that golf isnot the only one having a big
event right around this time. Sois professional wrestling. This past weekend was
WrestleMania. If you're old and poorlike me, then you probably remember WrestleMania
being a two and a half hourpay per view that you had to watch
on your old VCR three months laterbecause there was no way in hell your
parents were paying twenty nine ninety fiveor whatever the pay per view costs was

(01:07):
at the time. Well, thesedays, WrestleMania is a two day,
approximately eight hour with Stockholonian event.I'm assuming there's tons of drugs and free
love in the arena for those twodays. All right, I'm staring off
the point. My real point wasif you miss some or all of those
events, whether it be due toresponsibilities or a drug assumption, you can
get your knowledge up through my friendenemies Gimmick Infringement. Check them out.

(01:32):

much more. Be sure to follownineteen Media Group on social media for the

know what I mean. Brad isthe best, Tyler is the rest.
That is the Gimmick Infringement podcast. Now I almost almost jumped straight into the

(02:20):
Masters. But first a quick accountabilitycheck on last week. It was an
interesting, interesting week. I namedfour players I thought had the best chance
of winning. Tyler Hatton missed thecut, not good by me, Ricky
Fowler surged up the leaderboard late tocome in tenth, MATC Coucher slid in
that third, and the eventual winner, Corey Connors. Now I have three

(02:44):
one and done entries. Guess whichone of the four I did not play?
I curumba happened so often at thispoint it has gone from heartbreaking too
funny to the expectation. As faras Hidden Gems selections, Eric Cole and
Brandon Todd struggled on the weekend andfell down the leaderboard to end up thirty

(03:04):
ninth and fifty third, respectively.Fortunately for US, Andrew Novak did the
exact opposite, surging up the leaderboardto a solo ninth lace. So out
of the Hidden Gems we had threefor three make the cut and a top
ten finish. Yeah, I'll takethat every week of the season. Now,
let's move along. This is theninety Media Group presentation. This week

(03:25):
we're going over to Masters being playedat Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta,
Georgia. Augusta National Golf Club wasbuilt in nineteen thirty three by doctor Alistair
mackenzie and Bobby Jones. No,Bobby Jones is not related to Robert Trent
Jones or anybody else in that family. The similar names is just the happy
golf architectural coincidence. The Masters wasfirst played in Augusta in the year nineteen

(03:49):
thirty four. The courses of parseventy two seven five hundred and forty five
yards, interestingly enough, for thethird straight year, is listed as slightly
longer as the year before. Thegreens are bank grass, The fairways are
bermuda overseated with rye grass. Thegreens are fast and large. However,
the idea of large greens comes withan asterisk. Golfers will want to be
very precise where they hit the ballinto the greens. These greens are very

(04:13):
difficult, and being in the wrongspots are like missing the greens completely.
In most courses, the fairways arewide and are traditionally slow without much role.
That means this course plays even longerthan it's listed. This is a
tough, tough golf course and atrue test to each golfer in the field.
The Master's invitees will not only haveto limit their mistakes, but except
the eventual missteps that will happen, the one thing they cannot do is let

(04:38):
a small problem become a bigger one. Low up holes will be the death
of any chances to win here.Last year it was Scottie Scheffler who took
home the green jacket, winning atten under. Rory McIlroy was second at
seven under Shane Lowry, camp Smithand Colin Marrokawa finished out the top five.
In twenty twenty one, it wasHideki Matsuyama who won at ten under
Salataurus, Spieth, Rom and Leishmanfollowed. In twenty twenty, the Masters

(05:02):
was played in November due to COVIDrestrictions. Dustin Johnson won the event at
twenty under. It was the lowestscore in Masters history and I kind of
dismissed that year. In twenty nineteenit was the goat mister Tiger Woods who
won the Masters at thirteen under DustinJohnson. Sander Shaffley and Brooks Kapka all

(05:24):
came in one stroke behind. Asfar as comp tournaments, it's not really
rocket science here. The consistency ofthe Masters also makes comp tournaments pretty straightforward.
The API Genesis, the Tour Championship, all of the majors and top
tough field events are in play theMasters in a small field. This year,
there will be eighty eight players competing. The top fifty and ties will

(05:47):
all make the cut, with alot of the old timers playing without much
of a chance of making the cut. You would assume that all the top
players will be playing on the weekend. Don't assume that there will be a
name or two that you were stunnedmiss the cut. It's just the way
it is at the Masters. Ofcourse, history seems particularly important here at
Augusta. If you've played well here, you probably can do it again.

(06:11):
If you struggled here well. Beforewe get to the picks, let's talk
about the giant sawty elephant in theroom, the return of the live tour
players. In my opinion, thereare two factors that must be calculated when
it comes to them. Number one, how did these players deal with the
scrutiny of playing against PGJA players again? Number two, what do live results

(06:35):
really mean, I'll circle back tothe first question in a second, but
as far as the live results, live fields are about forty eight players d
and their non cut events. Inaddition, at the bottom of those fields
are let's say questionable talent compared tothe PJA at least, so top twenties
really mean not much in the liveworld. Top tens or solid, but

(06:57):
for me, anything less than thetop eight is unimpressive. Now back to
question one, the scrutiny. Thisquestion actually has me a bit annoyed.
There's no way to calculate this factor. At best, I could say that
it goes by a case by casebasis. It's hard for me to see
somebody like Dustin Johnson, Brooks KPKAor Kevin Nah being overly bothered, but

(07:18):
some of those other guys not toosure. The one thing they all do
have an advantage of is that thisis Augusta, not the WM Open.
Don't expect too many hand waving. You can't see me taunt here this audience.
They're just going to eat their inexpensivecheese sandwiches and watch the action.
Now let's get to the pigs andnow you're featured presentation. All right,

(07:43):
up, top, there's three clearchoices, Scottie Scheffler, Rory mclroy and
John Rom. I personally am leaningtowards Rory. I think he will finally
complete the Major's Grand Slam, anddoing it in front of the live to
our guys will be icing on thecake. With that said, betting against
Scottish Scheffler maybe a fool's errand Ilearned so last year. While John rom

(08:05):
early season's success and his course historymake him on equal footing with the other
two. I would say you couldn'tgo wrong with either three, but clearly
only one will win, and maybenone of them. Right below them,
I think Xander Shafley, the hotplaying Jason Day and Jordan Speed have a
lot of upside and potential to win. But let's dig deeper, all right.

(08:26):
As I mentioned every major, letme put a little caveat in this.
These type of events are not madefor long shots. The cream,
especially when it's so much of it, usually rises to the top. All
right, Now for the hidden gems. First up is the thirty eighth ring
player in the world, thirty threeyear old Georgian native Russell Henley. Henley

(08:46):
has made five of six cuts hereand all five of those were thirty fifth
or better. He's been a littleshaky this season, but top twenty at
both the Players and the match Playhis last two events. I think he's
heating up, and he seems likehe's prying for at least another top thirty
five this week. I'm going tobet him to top twenty. Next up

(09:07):
is a Master's debutant, the twentiethranked player in the world, the thirty
year old Kurt kitty Yama. Writingwith someone who's never played in Augusta,
it's not always the best idea, but what I like about Kittsiyama is his
boom or bust upside his last fourresults fifth, miss cut, win at
the API, and miss cut.Unlike many of the longest shot golfers in

(09:28):
this field, I think k Kittyamacan turn it on and keep it going
through all four rounds. If he'splaying right, I would definitely bet him
as the top debu time, andI might throw a dollar two in for
a new win now last, andin this case maybe at least I bring
in a live to our player, but not any live to our player,
the villain himself, thirty two yearold Patrick Reid, Patrick Reid should not

(09:50):
be affected too much by any badvibes because he's used to it. Meanwhile,
he's played nine times in Augusta, making seven cuts, including three top
tens and a win back in twentyeighteen. In addition, he had a
very strong start in his last LiveTour event, coming in third in Orlando.
Maybe more importantly was that he wasnine for nine scrambling. This will

(10:13):
come in pretty useful in Augusta. So he's playing well, he has a
good course history. He doesn't mindbeing the villain, or at least he's
used to it even if he doesmind. And at the end of the
day, what would be a betterscenario for Sunday at the Masters? In
the good Rory McElroy against the evilPatrick Read down the stretch. Golf gods,

(10:33):
make it happen. Let's go allright, Good luck to you all
this week. I appreciate you forlistening. Always like subscribe, tell a
friend, check out nineteen media group. I am gone and keep digging,

(11:13):
Okay, so keep digging to takeinto chugging, keep digging. That's keep
taking like a million times, keepdigging in and then you'll find treasure in
the snow. Was recording your audionow here? Not you're dancing, I
know, did keep digging? Why? Oh my goodness, I'm gonna poke

(11:50):
in my strone, give you aRussian occent with my shock of Shanka and
my bear on my unicycle. Ohand I forgot my vodka. Of course,
my vodka. He Kalinka, Kalinka, all the Russians to have tied

(12:11):
for it together. Why just theend
