Welcome to Hitting Gems Golf, wherewe dig a little bit deeper to find
secret treasure for your betting and DFSpleasure. Yea baby. Hello all,
(00:22):
I am the Mojo King and thisis episode number eighty two of Hidden Gems
Golf, brought to you by theMighty nineteen Media Group and sponsored my Sky
Golf. You've listened to the rest, now check out the best. This
week, we're previewing the Masters, being played in Augusta, Georgia this week,
in my opinion, is the truediamond of the PGA season. There's
(00:44):
something magical about this event, thehistory, the prestige, the inexpensive cheese
sandwiches. But I do wonder ifmy US bias is showing here. The
Open, if I'm not mistaken,is just as magical and has a longer
history. But it does not havethose sandwiches, So maybe it's not a
US bias, but just it's lunchtimefor me. I'm hungry. Hello everybody,
(01:07):
this is the Gimmick Infringement Podcast.I am Brad Winchester with me as
always as my tag team partner TylerMcDowell Blanken. You are listening to Hidden
Gems Golf that We are also membersof the nineteen Media Group family. Brad
and I are the host of GimmickInfringement. Each week, we discussed the
latest in adw and the wrestling world, life, pop culture, and much
much more. Be sure to follownineteen Media group on social media for the

WrestleMania's Just Finished Guys A Gimmick Infringementalso did a special four part series
on the Rock. It's good timeto be a wrestling fan, and certainly
a good time to be a GimmickInfringement fan. But let's talk about the
Masters. This event, golf's greatestspectacle, will be even a little bit
(01:53):
more spectacular with the return of prodigalson John Rahm and the rest of the
live players. And then, ofcourse, there is the return of the
sun itself at least of the golfinguniverse, and that would be Tiger Woods.
Another star, of course, willbe the course. The Masters will
be played at Augusta National Golf Clubin Augusta, Georgia. The classic course
(02:16):
was built in nineteen thirty three andthe Masters was first played here in nineteen
thirty four. The course is uppar seventy two seven, five hundred and
forty five yards. The greens arebent grass, while the fairways are dormant
bermuda overseated with rye. These fairwaysare wide, long and tend to play
(02:37):
relatively slow. All these characteristics meanbombs away with the driver. There is
a big advantage to getting it fardown the course. Meanwhile, the greens
are also large, but they donot offer as much freedom. Golfers who
do not land shots precisely where theymean to hit it will face a tough
(02:58):
time on these fatsas difficult uneven puttingsurfaces. The formula to success sounds pretty
simple. Drive it as far asyou can be precise on the approach and
give yourself a good short angle onthe greens and then convert those chances.
That's simple, right, That's notsimple at all. This is a super
(03:21):
difficult course where small problems can easilybecome big problems. Blaw up polls would
mean the death to any chance ofwinning a green jacket. Probably not surprisingly,
the winners here have been absolute bestof the best. Last year,
John Rahm defeated all comers the yearprior, Scottie Scheffler. They were preceded
(03:42):
by Hideki Matsuyama and Dustin Johnson backin twenty twenty. Hunting for a long
shot seems like a fool's erran atAugusta, but Hidden Gems and the Mojo
King love playing the fool sometimes,So let's see if we could find the
exception to the rule. This isa girl presentation all right up top.
It seems that you would only avoidScottie Scheffler if you're looking for a leverage
(04:06):
play. He's currently the favorite, and well should be. He's been playing
spectacular, but you have to thinkbetween the difficulty of Augusta and his ridiculously
short odds, betting him may notbe the right strategy. You know,
all the other names up top theirfavorites for a reason. The Rory's,
the Rams, the Xanders, theKoepka's, the Hideki Matsiamas. But let's
(04:30):
take a look into the second tier. Two names to stick out for me.
You've heard me say one of themrepeatedly, But I like Sahith Tagala
a lot. He debuted here lastyear and came in ninth. Not only
that, but he's had top tensin three of his last five tournaments.
He's hot and he's played well here. I like the combination. My other
(04:54):
mid level pick is will Zalatorus. Now, his two most recent results haven't
looked good, but more importantly,he looks healthy. Earlier this season,
his three best events of the yearhave come in the toughest fields, a
twelfth at the Farmers, a secondat the Genesis, and a fourth at
the API. He also has avery strong history here at the Masters,
(05:17):
coming in sixth and second prior tolast year's withdrawal at fifty to one.
He looks kind of interesting. Butanyway, let's dig deeper and now your
featured presentation. With only eighty nineplayers in the field and a top fifty
five and ties making the cut,and then consider that the bottom of the
(05:40):
field is full of amateurs and formerchampions who will way past their prime.
He would figure getting a complete fantasyteam through the cut should be easy.
Pas lemon squeeze right. Well, don't be so sure. I can guarantee
you a player or two from uptop with implode. It's a grand tradition.
(06:02):
With that said, I still thinkthat the winner will be one of
the favorites or amongst the favorites, hopefully a second tier Xalatorus, but let's
try to find the opposite, acouple of guys who will beat expectations.
I have two names that I amlooking at. First up is the forty
(06:23):
fourth RANC player in the world, thirty two year old Benny and now he's
played the Masters four times and he'smissed three of those cuts, but his
last time in Augusta was way backin twenty twenty. He has revitalized his
game since then, and although he'smissed his last two cuts, he's had
(06:43):
a very solid season, including aneighth at the API and a sixteenth at
the Genesis. Those are tough courseswith tough fields. You have to have
a lot of confidence in his midrange game. You just have to hope
that he could put up to Park. My final selection for the twenty twenty
four Masters, and in my opinion, much deeper dive is the fiftieth rank
(07:08):
playered world, twenty five year oldAustin Ecro. Now, I really do
feel like I'm maybe jumping the gunon the youngster a bit too early,
but I think he has the gameto be special. Ekro's approach play has
been elite over his last five tournaments, and he's played well on longer courses.
His putting, much like An's,has been up and down, well
(07:30):
like on admittedly more down than up, but he has had his moments during
the season. I think the twentyfive year olds win at the Cognizant was
just the tip of the iceberg. This young man is rising and he might
be ready this week. All right, that's all I got. I appreciate
you off of listening, good luckand enjoy the masters. And he digging
(08:00):
mm hmm, keep digging, okay, so keep digging, keep digging,
(08:24):
keep tugging, keep digging. Let'skeep taking like a million times, keep
digging in and then you'll find treasurein the snow. It's recording your audio,
not you. Not you're dancing.I know, keep digging, but
(08:56):
oh my goodness, I'm gonna talkin my strong Russian accent. Was my
shop called Shanka in my bear onmy unicycle. Oh and I forgot my
vodka, of course, my vodka. Hey, Colin, Colin, all
the Russians to have types, youfor it to get That's the end doc
