little bit deeper to find secret treasurefor your betting and DFS pleasure. Yeah

(00:22):
baby, Hello all, I amthe Mojo King and this is episode number
sixty one of Hitting Gems Doll partto you by the mighty nineteen Media Group.
This week we'll be discussing the Mexicoopened at vin Dota being played in

(00:46):
Mexico. Of course, I hopeyou know by now nineteen is the team
at Hidden Gems Golf is back. The king has returned. It is time
for you pretenders of the throne toedgeourn what was back. All his taxes
are paid and now there is somenew money to be made. Dalla dolla

(01:07):
bill y'all. All right, wedon't have a recap this week as I
did not do a podcast for aDessert Classic that was a team event,
so it made everything a bit moreof a guessing game than most weeks.
But in all honesty, that isn'twhat stopped me from dropping a podcast.
What happened was I damn never forgotto do my taxes. And while I
may be a gangster, I don'twant to go out like al Capone.

(01:30):
I gotta say y'all lucky, Idon't have a Tommy gun sound effect.
Right now, this is the ninetyMedia Group presentation. All right, let's
dive in, shall we. Thisweek we'll be discussing the Mexico Open at
Vendatta, being played at the VendattaValartha Golf Course in Valartha, Mexico.
Goodness, a bit of overkill inthat name there, don't you think?

(01:51):
Maybe not? I could just begrumpy because I can't pronounce anything right anyway.
The course is a par seventy oneseven four hundred and fifty six yards.
It is a law course. Thecourse opened in twenty fifteen and was
designed by Greg Norman. It ison the west coast of Mexico. The
Mayacoba was played on east coast ofMexico. In case you were curious,

(02:12):
this course features pass bottom grass onthe greens, fairways and rough greens will
run pretty slow. The fairways arewide, and the rough is not very
rough at all. That's not tosay the course doesn't have some danger.
There is a good amount of wateron the course and there are lots of
bunkers. There's also some natural habitatto confront if you miss too wide.

(02:34):
But none of those factors should worryPJA pros too much as long as they
don't make baked mistakes. I mentionedit before, but this course is long.
It is also at sea level.Tie that in with the passpoon grass
which tends to not allow a lotof rollout, this course will play even
longer than I think some will expect. Also, if I remember correctly,

(02:55):
last year the tappitt In podcast interviewthe Mexico Opens tournament director, and he
noted that the winds tend to pickup significantly late afternoons on this course.
Keep that in mind for showdown selectionsand first round leaders. Last year was
the first and only time this coursehas been played as a PGA event,

(03:16):
and in last year John rom wonat seventeen under. He was followed by
Tony Fenow, Kirk Kidiama, andBrandon Woo, who all were just one
stroke behind. Davis Riley came infifth at fifteen under. Although there were
some short hitters in the top twenty, having length off the tea was especially

(03:37):
important here. Among my cop tournamentsthis week are the Puerto Rico Open and
the Corralis. Those seemed like prettyobvious choices. I like the Maya Cooba,
which is also a great Norman design, although a very different course,
and in addition the Masters the Hero. Both of those only a couple of
competitors are in this field. AndI liked the three M Open because it

(03:59):
is a week er yield event whichyou can attack, has some length,
but also has some water to beafraid of. Now, before we get
to the picks, let's talk aboutnineteen Media Group and Hidden Gem Golfs newest
sponsor. Are you tired of placingbets alone? It's a little depressing,
isn't it. Would you like toconnect with some fellow sports betters, talk
some strategy, maybe brag about somebig wins. Well, look no further.

(04:24):
The Sharp's app is here for you. Download the Sharp's App and use
the promo code te M two sixfour, link your favorite betting or DFS
platform and join the community. ButSharps is more than just a social network
for betters. It makes it easyto track bets as well, both your

(04:48):
favorite podcaster or two. With Sharps. We can celebrate together on a bad
beat, we can cry together. But either way, download Sharps today and
use promo code t e M twosix four because betting is simply better together,
all right. The two twenty threeMexico Open features a pretty weak field,

(05:12):
just as it did last year.John Rom won that event no surprise,
but he only won by one stroke, so it's no given that he
wins it again this year. Right. I mean, there are one hundred
and forty four professional golfers in thistournament, but Rom is not only leaps
and bounds above all of these golfers. Sands one maybe, but he is

(05:33):
on an heater. In addition,Rom is not one to play down to
his competition. He is fine beatingthe brakes off a week field. It's
hard to go against them now ifyou were that. One player in the
field who I'd also consider elite isTony Fenow, who was also one of
the guys who came in second lastyear. Unfortunately he is not as hot

(05:57):
as rom so, although he definitelyhas the talent to make it, I
won't be using him in one andDones I get it if you do.
Though, who I am leaning towardsusing is Wyndham Clark. But I will
say this has a warning. Lastweek right in the final round, I
think the sixteenth hole, he hita wild ball off the tea and the
commentators seemed to believe that he saidto his partner that his shoulder popped.

(06:23):
He played the rest of the round. He didn't withdraw this week, so
I guess he is fine. Thatjust makes me a little bit jittery.
Though slightly further down for me isNicola hose Guard and Maverick Maneely. Both
of them have the talent and Ithink are well made for this course.
Okay, enough for the favorites.Let's start digging deeper, shall we,
and now your featured presentation. Firstup is one hundred thirty first ranked player

(06:46):
in the world, twenty six yearold Will Gordon. After strong swing season,
he has struggled a bit as oflate. I don't think that should
be surprising at all. The youngsterwas on the corn Ferry Tour at this
time last year, and this toughrun has been on tough courses against the
best golfers in the world. Ithink against this field he can shine.

(07:08):
In addition, he is long topthirty in distance this year and ranked thirteenth
on the PGA Tour in total driving. I think he is primed to be
this year's Kiddiyama at this event. All right, I must admit this week
I listened to some other podcasts beforerecording the show, trying to get a
feel of where the chalk will be, and I have to say I agree

(07:30):
with a lot of the pundans thisweek. Unfortunately, that makes me scratch
out a lot of guys who Iwould consider hitting gems off my list,
so I will skip over the likesof hitting Jim Favorite, Akha Batia,
Tyler Pendriff, super Bomber, BrandonMatthews, and South African MJ the Foe
Opah pronounced his name right. Ididn't bother looking it up because he is

(07:54):
no longer an official pick, butI still think he's a good play.
After I eliminated those, I haveone more selection for you. I spy
one player in this tournament who seemsto always shine in weaker field coastal courses.
Although immittedly this is not quite acoast of course, but it plays
like one. So here's my catcha falling knife selection of the week,

(08:16):
the coast God himself, Bryce Garnett. Garnett is a thirty nine year old
and a three hundred and sixty fourthranked player in the world. Look,
I'm not saying the man is goingto win a tournament. He has one
career win to his name at acoast to course, mind you, but
I think he can compete. Hewas eighth this year at the Corralis,

(08:37):
home of his lone win, andhe was seventh at last year's Puerto Rico
Open. He was also thirty firstat last year's three M Open. All
right, Clearly I am doing abit of cherry picking here. He is
not the three hundred and sixty fourthranked player in the world because he can
dominate often. However, when hedoes shine, these are the type of
courses, and these are the typeof field. A top forty, a

(09:01):
top twenty is absolutely not out ofthe question. Trust me, have I
ever led you wrong? All right? Unfortunately we don't have time to discuss
the answer to that question, reachout to me on the Sharp sapp and
we can discuss it further. Iappreciate you all for listening. Good luck
this week and digging. Keep digging, okay, so digging to dig in,

(09:45):
togging, keep digging. Let's keepinglike a million times. Keep digging
in and then you'll find treasure inthe snow. You know, it's recording
your audio. Now you're not, you're dancing, I know. Keep digging.

(10:16):
Oh my goodness, I'm gonna talkin my strong give your Russian accent
with my shock of shanka and mybear on my unicycle. Oh and I
forgot my vodka. Of course,my vodka helka. All the Russian sectizes

(10:39):
it together. Why that's the end.
