(00:02):
All right, welcome back two pmhour here on five fan dot com taking
it up till three pm. DaveSolomon has popped into the studio, which
is always terrifying to some extent. This is bizarre though, I'm on the
other side of you. Hang on, I gotta turn your mic on.

(00:22):
Yeah that helps a little. Yeah, but no, this is a first.
Usually it's the other way around. This is very crazy for those who
are obviously listening and not watching operatingthe board. So I'm looking out to
Solomon where he is actually sitting ina host chair, So very bizarre.
I would say, how are you, Sally boy? We got to hang

(00:44):
out on what was that Sunday nightat the at City Park. Yeah,
I got the first Saint Louis Citygame. That was a great time.
I was telling you, Nate,it is a great experience. If you
aren't consider yourself maybe a casual soccerfan, or you say, well,
I don't know, I can't warmup to it. Just go to a
game there. Now, that gamehappened to be super high scoring, but

(01:06):
when you see the energy, howwell designed the stadium is, it's just
a good time. Whether you're afan of the sport, or if you're
not and if you are a fan, the quality of MLS has gone up
a few notches for maybe when youlast checked in. I still have a
slide issue with how much these guysfall over, and you would think that
they just got hit by a tractortrailer and they're sprawling around on the turf.

(01:30):
I mean, you know. AndI even noticed at one point early
on in the game, Remember therewas a there was a yellow card issued
to a City player and he wentthe Austin player went down and it will
on replay looked like a nothing burger. And yet they still awarded a yellow
card. And the fans, Ithink this is a nice thing to say

(01:53):
about them, they were aware thatthis guy who went down for Austin is
like so full blown it get up. You're playing a sport. Some of
it's tactical. Yeah, that's thepart that I think there should be.
It should be implemented in MLS toeradicate that from the game. Like I
actually I've thought that the NBA,by adopting the anti flop rule, that's

(02:19):
been a good thing. They shoulddo something like that in MLS to get
these players to stay on their feetand stop flopping so easily. It looks
so soft. Now every card issubject to reviews, so they can after
the fact go through and rescind ayellow card or a red card so it
doesn't count on your record. Sothey do have some provisions through video review.
In fact, that's how Austin actuallyhad a yellow card rescinded through video

(02:43):
review. But still some of itI think is legitimate because you had,
you know, ninety degree heat, heat and seas still in the triple digits
at nine o'clock. So you dohave some guys who when they're running you
up to seven plus miles a game, cramp up legitimately. But I do
think that there's some times when guysmay go down just a little strategically.

(03:04):
You think it seems like it certainlyseems like it. Guys sometimes gets shot
on the field. Yeah, Iguess they do very bizarre. All right,
I'm gonna talk some cardinals here forjust a moment, but then we
will cover I got some audio fromDusty and Danny. It's a good show.
They used to be on Mad DogRadio in the afternoon, but they

(03:28):
are now just strictly going to talkcollege sports on their morning program. I
think it's six to nine am Eastern, and they had an interesting conversation today
because you got quarterback competitions going onat Ohio State, you got a quarterback
competition going on at Georgia, andyou got a quarterback competition going on at

(03:50):
Alabama. And I've been discussing,or really we've been discussing on King's Court
all week about the ongoing quarterback battleat the University of Missouri between Sam Horne
and and Brady Cook. Now itgets me thinking when I hear coaches like

(04:14):
Ryan Day, when I hear coacheslike Kirby Smart, and when I hear
coaches like Nick Saban talk about aquarterback competition, to me, that sounds
like a good thing to have.It really does, because I trust that
those coaches are going to be ableto develop a quarterback that's going to put
them in the winter circle, andthe rest of their program should be good

(04:35):
enough to where if they need tohave a quarterback grow into that role,
you won't be so dependent on thatquarterback at least in the first two or
three weeks of the season when you'vegot cake walks. In Missouri's case,
Hey, I've seen nothing under EliDrinkwitz to suggest that he can develop a

(04:55):
quarterback. I've seen nothing from EliDrinkwits that he's been able to bring in
and recruit a quarterback out of thetransfer portal. So when I hear that
there is an ongoing battle in Columbiafor the Tigers quarterback position, it makes
me immediately think, well, thenthey don't have a quarterback, and they
haven't really had a quarterback in threeyears under Eli Drinkwitz, so that is

(05:18):
definitely concerning. But I'll play someaudio from Dusty and Danny here coming up
in the program as well, andalso we will hit on this Jim Harbaughs
story. I don't know if anybody'sbeen following this, but Jim Harball.
Remember it was like a month agowhere Jim Harbaugh came out and it was
all but said and done that hewas gonna he was gonna serve a four

(05:42):
game suspension this year, and they'reall cake walks. I mean, he
was gonna be able to coach allweek long leading right up to game time,
and then he would have to departthe team facility, and then he
could even return later that night afterthe game was over, after the end
of the fourth quarter, Jim Harballwas going to be allowed back in the
building. Well, it got tothe desk, I suppose of the new

(06:05):
president of the NC Double A,and the ncuble A president apparently wanted to
let everybody know that he's still gota little power underneath his wings, and
he rejected what the lawyers had cameup with, which was a four game
suspension. So yesterday it comes outthat Ohio are part of me. Michigan

(06:26):
is implementing a self imposed three gamesuspension on Jim Harbaugh. And I looked
at the headline yesterday and I thoughtto myself, wait, they already had
four but no, that got rejectedby the NC Double A, And so
they have now decided to self imposea three game suspension on Jim Harball.
And we will await to see ifthe NCUBA investigation, which originates from a

(06:53):
twenty twenty allegation against Jim Harball,We're not talking about twenty twenty one,
we're not talking about twenty two. We're not even talking about something that happened
in the last month. We're goingback all the way to twenty twenty and
the snail's pace that the NC DOUBLEAoperates with in terms of coming to a
conclusion on these allegations of recruitment violations. Yeah, he violated the dead period

(07:20):
during COVID. Well this was threeyears ago. Oh I know. I
was just explaining what he did.I think it's crazy, and believe it
or not, I almost guarantee youthe nc double A probably won't care that
much that he violated the rules. If all he did was the violation,
they'd be more than happy with thosethree games. If the NCAA comes down,

(07:41):
it's going to be at his effortsto evade and mislead them. So
I've got an interesting tidbit two onif the NCUBLEA looks at the self imposed
three game suspension and then decides that'snot enough. Considering that the lawyers came
to a conclusion of four games. If the NCUBA were to attack on more
games, you would think that itwould be at the start of next season.

(08:03):
But there's a little asterisk in regardto that, because the first game
that Michigan plays is a cakewalk.It's a joke. I haven't even I
don't even know who they're playing thesecond week. Guess who they host in
ann Arbor, Maybe the Texas Longhorns, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns.

(08:24):
Now, do you think that theNC DOUBLEA would go that far too?
If they didn't think that a fourgame suspension this year was good enough for
Jim Harbaugh, would they go tothe extent of tacking on either A games
this year or B games next yearbeyond one game that would you know,

(08:45):
preclude him from coaching in the gameagainst Texas. That would be something.
I think it all depends on whattype of message the NC double A wants
to send. If the NC doubleA, because remember the NC double as
kind of like the bullying school, where you know they're like show their power,
but the last thing you ever wantto do is try to show them
up because they don't take to ittoo kindly. So if the ncuble A

(09:07):
is ticked off at Hardbough and wantsto send a message to him, then
absolutely they make sure he's not coachingthat game. If at the end of
the day, the ncable A decidesthat having Michigan playing well means more than
sending a message, then let youknow you're going to have Jim Harbob versus
Steve Starkasian on you know, BigNoon or something. To me, it

(09:28):
just all goes back to the factthat nobody really gives a damn about these
allegations anymore. With how recruiting andNIL has completely invaded college athletics, the
ideal, the idea that the NCdouble A continuously is slapping the wrist of
these coaches as if it means anything, and they'll be disallowed from coaching their

(09:48):
teams, which will be double digitfavorites in the games in which they're suspended.
I think it just loses the interestof your college football fan. They
mean nothing, they have never meantanything. And here you have the NC
Double A standing in the way despiteallowing the floodgates to open with the allegations

(10:09):
against you know, recruiting in adigital which have all now been basically completely
disavout. They've gone completely away fromenforcing any of these rules that they are
now trying to adjudicate from three yearsago. The NC double A is just
full of buffoons. We know thatwe leadership FPS football. I don't know
if you can even call it amateurathletics anymore. Well, when they're getting

(10:33):
paid exactly through NIL and the freedomto transfer every year, it's almost like
everyone's on a one year contract. It's very bizarre, all right. So
we'll hear some audio coming up aboutthose topics here as the show moves along
again, taking you up till threepm today. Cardinals last night in Pittsburgh,
what an embarrassment. They lose elevento one, out hit sixteen to

(10:54):
five, and it did not govery well for the newcomer mister Ram,
who came over in the deal fromthe Orioles, and Drew Ram, who
had pitched well at Triple A,had struck out a bunch of hitters over
his two starts at Memphis, wasthrown into the game because Matthew libertoor who
allegedly hurt himself weightlifting or something likethat, wasn't quite right. He wasn't

(11:18):
quite effective either on the mound,so I thought it could have just been
a convenience injury, so to speak, where you get Drew Rama up here
to see what he can showcase. But he goes three and two thirds yesterday,
eight hits and eight runs, sixearned. He gives up a bomb
in that game, and it justdid not go well. And for the

(11:41):
second time this season they have reliedon Casey Lawrence to come out and play
mop up where he asked to somehowfigure out the rest of the ballgame on
his own. Four and a third, eight hits, three runs. He
walks to and Casey Lawrence has justbeen the human pinata for the Cardinals pitching
staff. Oh exactly. I thinkhe threw nineties something pitches as well.

(12:01):
But you know, when you're CaseyLawrence, you're in your thirties, you
know that you're lucky to have anyshot whatsoever. He is going to just
soak up those rolls. I don'twant to say with a smile on his
face because I don't want to makehim out to be disingenuine or anything,
but he is gonna gladly take whateverme grinders awaiting him as long as he's
getting that big league service time.It reminds me of when the Cardinals back

(12:24):
in the Mathena era, had Michaelmckenry, the former Pirates catcher, up
for a cup of coffee when theyjust needed an extra body on the roster,
and he was ready to do anythingto try to hit that five years
of service time, catch bullpens, you name it. Heck, I think
he would have swept the floors too, well, is he available because they
might need him to pitch this year. Well, I mean, you got

(12:46):
those big dollars doing Pirates pre andpost game. So there's a sequence this
is in the bottom of the firstinning that I'd like to play for you.
This is Connor Joe at the plate, Drew rom on the mound,
and a couple of outs trying towork his way out of trouble. At
this point in the game, itwas still a zero zero ball game,
including the one that I acquired.Drew Romney moved Jack Claarity to Baltimore,

(13:09):
and a bouncing ball. It's likethe basement for me in the dirt.
Oh, not picked by Goldschmidt.Reynolds stopped at So all right, A
couple of things here. One,the comebacker needs to be fielded by rom
so rom needs to field his positionbetter. The ball tips off his glove,
it goes up the middle. JoseFermine, playing for whatever reason,

(13:33):
is making the play behind the secondbase bag. He throws the ball to
first base, which needs to bea better throw, but still, I
mean it's it's not the worst throw. And then Paul Goldschmidt on the receiving
end. He's got to dig thatball out at first base. Period.
This is this is major league baseball. One of those three things has to

(13:56):
occur. Either Rom's got to fieldthe ball, Forman's got to be able
to throw the ball, or Goldschmidthas to be able to scoop the ball.
Do you think Paul Goldschmid is healthy. I don't really know. And
if you watch his at bats,it doesn't exactly look like he has seen
anything, right aside from Sunday whereI guess he hit the home run.

(14:18):
Couple of hits. Yeah, becausethat and also notice he's been having a
few more appearances at DH this yeartoo. Well. He's also thirty five.
So but the Cardinals feel like he'ssuch a staple for this ball club,
even though they're not going anywhere obviouslythis season and probably not next season
anyhow, but he's going to bein the fold as he goes into his
free agent contract or walk your nextseason. So right after that happens,

(14:43):
here comes Andy Rodriguez. And Imean, it doesn't matter if you're playing
the Pirates or you're playing the Brewers, or you're playing the best team in
Major League Baseball. If you giveextra outs to teams in the big leagues,
and this happened to be a throwingair on Jose formIn. But again,
one of three things could have happenedin that sequence and you would have
been out of the inning. Butno, the inning extends and here comes

(15:07):
Andy Rodriguez and Drew rom left aneighty mile hour pitch up in the zone
and it got hits and deep third, there's a anodo and look at this
place. Take at first now,I will say that was a hell of
a play by Ronado ranging behind thethird base bag in defoul tarrets were he

(15:31):
throwing across his body and put iton the money. It was very close.
But Andy Rodriguez, kudos to him, hustling all the way down the
first base line was able to beatit out and that is how Pittsburgh took
an early lead in this game. And then right after that you had a
wild pitch by Drew ram I mean, it's just that sort of sequence I

(15:52):
feel like has been put on repeat. Against the Saint Louis Cardinals in twenty
twenty three, you get a groundball, which should you know in this
case, it's a groundball which shouldbe the final out of the inning.
Instead there's a throwing air. Thenyou get a base hit in which defender
makes a great play, almost getsan out at first, and then the
floodgates open, I mean, andit could have gotten worse, quite frankly.

(16:15):
You had a wild pitch which allowedConnor Joe to score, and then
you had back to back walks byDrew Rom. But by the time you
know Rom's out of the inning,at that point he's faced. You know
almost how many guys came up toplay to the plate in the first inning.
Let me count here, Cabrian Hayes, Brian Reynolds two, McCutcheon three,
Joe four, Andy Rodriguez five,Palasios six, Leover Paguero is seven

(16:41):
and Jack Sawinski is eight. Eightguys come to the plate in an inning,
all because you get a comeback intothe mound that tips off the pitcher's
glove for me and can't throw aball to first base, and Goldschmidt,
a gold Glover, can't pick theball at first base. That the margin
of air for this team is sosmall that after that first inning tailspinned in

(17:03):
the manner in which it did forRom and the Cardinals, they had absolutely
no shot of winning the game, even though it was a one nothing part
of a two nothing game. Atthat point, Oh, I knew.
As soon as I got home fromthe Bernie Show, I had the feeling,
oh, they're down to nothing. This is the lineup they have out
there. This game is over. And you mentioned about how you know,

(17:25):
something always seems to happen no marginfor error. Those are really the stories
of the season. I mean, first off, you know how they say
winnings contagious, Well, guess whatSO is losing? And as far as
the margin of error, that's howthis whole team was built. They literally
built this team knowing we needed toget we meaning, of course, from
the Cardinal's perspective, they were probablystaying in the front office. We need

(17:45):
to get Adam Wayne Right through, you know, one hundred eighty innings.
We need to have perfect defense forguys like Michaelis and Wayne Right and whomever
fills the rotation to continually throw strikes. You know, or in Montgomery as
well. Almost forgot about him.He seems like ancient history. But everything
was built on needing, you know, everyone in the bullpen to repeat,

(18:07):
guys like Tyler O'Neil to somehow stayhealthy. Everything was built for no margin
of error, and when you haveno margin of air for error, it
doesn't matter how many for a pitchersyou have, not going to win many
games, but it just goes.It speaks to the lack of fundamental baseball
that this team has played all yearlong, whether it's a base we're running
mistake, pitchers not being ready togo out of the gates, the whole

(18:30):
dilemma with the catcher position, andWilson contrerist not knowing what pitches to call
or if he's even calling for theright pitches with the guy on the mound
a defensive air, putting guys inpositions defensively that is abnormal to them.
It's not their natural position, andexpecting like you can get away with that
type of thing at the major leaguelevel. And I don't, for the

(18:53):
life of me understand how an organizationwhich saw this whole thing tailspin as it
did at the end of the twothousand and eighteen midway point when they decided
to ultimately fire Mike Matheny and tosee how it was restored under Mike Schild

(19:14):
almost immediately going from the worst basedrunning team one of the worst fielding teams
so just going back to doing somesimple things right and how that parlaid with
a winning product. To watch itthen go right back in to where it's
at right now is a totally unacceptabledysfunctionality of this ball club. I think

(19:36):
you can capture it in a microcosmwith the changes in the coaching staff.
You lose Skip Schumacher, who arguablyshould be the manager of this team right
now. You could have hired SkipSchumacher in twenty twenty two, but you've
got him over on the other sideof your complex in my well and Jupiter
for the Miami Marlins and their dugout. You lost Mike Maddox, you supposedly
wanted to retire, but what youknow, he's back over with Bruce Oachi

(20:00):
deep in the heart of Texas andbasically Jeff Albert after somehow getting Albert Poohol's
to recapture the Fountain of youth. All the negative criticism ran him out of
town. And you know turner Wardjourneyman, and you got a couple of
basically neophytes to replace him. Idon't want to call it Joe McEwing that,
but he wasn't even your first choice. Remember they were going for Matt

(20:21):
Holliday in that job. Joe McEwingwas kind of an emergency option, And
oh, I guess I am Ibeing rude by discounting Dusty Blake's experience at
Duke and a bunch of small collegesin North Carolinas. That's kind of like
the big leagues if you're on tobaccoroad or something. Well, no offense
to Joe mckewing, but his benchcoach record or his record on teams hasn't
been very good. So what Imean I get he might be a likable

(20:45):
guy. He knows the organization clearlywas a target of the organization to some
degree, considering he was the numbertwo option when they tried to go with
Matt Holliday and then they go toJoe mckewing. But Joe m It's not
like other teams have had opportunities tohire Joe mcween He wasn't new to his

(21:06):
role with the Chicago White Sox.In fact, he had filled a whole
bunch of different roles, and hehad interviewed in a lot of different spots,
but no team decided to go withhim ultimately, and he had a
long stay with the Chicago White Sox. So again, I'm not turning this
into like ripping Joe mckewing, butfor everybody who's like, well, fire
Ali and bring in Joe MG,why what is he deserved? Like why

(21:29):
don't you this team? I thinkthey need to clean house with the coaching
staff. That is an understatement, but it's just bizarre to me how they
have allowed for the product which theyknew was so crucial in the turnaround,
initially under shilt to the idea ofgetting back to playing a winning product,
a winning style of baseball. Tolet it all go to hell in roughly

(21:56):
a year and a half, thatis very strange to me. You know
what it is the organization lost itskiller instinct. I think when you had
people like Tony Larusa, to alesser degree, Walt Jockety, it was
peddled to the metal all the time. Now do I think that John Mosailoc
wants to win? Absolutely? WhatPresident of Baseball opser GM doesn't want to

(22:17):
win? But I think, atleast from the ownership standpoint, I think
it got to a point where theysaw, hey, this NL Central,
it's a week division. You know, maybe win eighty eight to ninety three
games that should be enough to backin and see how much we can spend
to get just to that hump, and who knows, maybe we can catch
lightning in a bottle in the postseason. I think that's the mindset that has

(22:37):
become prevalent over at seven hundred ClarkStreet over the past oh i'd say five
to ten years maybe, And Ithink now you are really starting to pay
the price when you lose a coupleof stalwarts. You know, you no
longer have Adam waynewright you can leanon, no longer have Yadi or Molina
to basically cover up and having tonot have to develop a catcher in twenty

(22:57):
years. And now the warts areshowing, and boy are they showing their
colors in the form of empty redseats, not to mention the warning signs.
How many games in the row didthey win in September down the stretch
in twenty twenty twenty one, theywon seventeenth straight, all right, seventeenth
straight, which lifted them into apostseason spot. Yeah. Last year it

(23:21):
was the heroics of Pooh Holes andalso the the trade deadline acquisitions between Kingtana
and Montgomery. Yeah, that's twoyears in a row. Don't forget Lester
and Half the year before, alongwith Wade LeBlanc. So those two years,
it basically took a Houdini Act inorder to get them into the postseason.

(23:41):
And yet they went in for athird straight year with basically no protection
from a starting pitching standpoint, andprobably not enough known offensive commodities in their
lineup to get it done on aconsistent basis. Then you add in you

(24:02):
start playing guys all over the place. I mean, I don't know how
many different center fielders this team isfeatured this year, But between Newt bar
Carlson, O'Neill, Marcado, Palacios, edmund Am I missing to anybody that's
six, I guarantee you there's notmany teams in the history of the Big
Leagues that if you are on yoursixth or seventh center fielder starting the game,

(24:26):
you're probably not going to the postseason. So, as I've been saying
now for years, it might betime for you to shore up the middle
of your team. So that includesgoing out and figuring out what you're gonna
do at shortstop. If it's MasonWin, that's terrific. If it's not
Mason Win, you probably missed theboat because you had a lot of different

(24:47):
shortstops available available last offseason, didn'tpull the trigger on that. And then
when you had a guy who waslooking to rebound who would have been a
perfect fit for this team, andCody Bellinger out there as a free a
everyone reminded me when I offered Bellinger'sname, No, they got too many
center fielders. Really, well, you've started six that I can count,

(25:07):
and I'm probably forgetting a few.But Tyler O'Neil could have actually stayed healthy,
could could and you could have hada baseball career from your shoulder hadn't
gone out. It's just amazing tome that people listen to what this organization
has to say and they they repeatit as if it's just gold, and
then when it doesn't pan out, they're like, well, what are you

(25:29):
gonna do about it? Well, what I'm gonna do about it is remind
you that I told you that youshould have signed Cody Bellinger in the off
season. What I'm gonna do aboutit has been telling you that you haven't
had a center fielder on this teamfor five you know, going back to
like even probably be four batter nowNate. As easy as it is to
say that they should have signed CodyBellinger, do you have faith in the
Cardinals coaching staff that they would havebeen able to fix what was ailing him

(25:51):
in Los Angeles and get him therebound? Or would he have just continued
faltering in maybe gone down the sameroad that saw Jordan Walker gets sent down
to men. Well that's a fairto discussion. I you know, I'm
not here too. It's hard forme to predict if a guy would have
had success with this coaching staff.I personally think that this coaching staff is
full of losers. They have nocredibility. They've never really won anything on

(26:15):
their own. I mean, AliMarmel won an Appalachian state title. Okay,
congratulations. I mean what you andEli Drinkwot's in the same boat over
there in Appalachia Territory. I mean, give me a break. I want
a proven commodity, a guy who'sdone it at this level, a guy
who's either one big in the bigleagues to do it, or somebody who's
got more credibility than this coaching stepbecause right now they look like a bunch

(26:37):
of nobodies losing. I mean they'reand they're losing bad. I mean,
to go to Pittsburgh, a teamthat this organization has largely dominated, I
mean, good God, under Larusa, I don't know what his winning percentage
was against the Pittsburgh Pirates, orwhat Albert Pool's all time winning percentage was
against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They crushedthe Pirates for twenty years. Pirate a

(27:00):
joke of an organization. Well nowthey're not that big of a joke all
of a sudden. I mean, they're not good. Their owner is a
disgrace, Bob Nutting. But here'sthe thing, they're better than you are.
You're looking up at them in theNational League Central And also, when
those MLB prospect rankings came out theother day, Pittsburgh's number two in all

(27:21):
of Major League Baseball. So that'sconcerning, oh very much. And I
think the Pirates are actually starting tobuild a foundation, whereas the Cardinals,
they've shown a track record. Ithink Randy Flores, for what it's worth,
from what I can see, hasdone a fine job running amateur scouting.
But they've shown an inability to developguys and have them ready for their
roles in the big leagues. Imean you see that even with somebody like

(27:42):
Zach Thompson, he gets up tothe big leagues, he's having successes as
a reliever and they say no,we want you to start, and then
he goes to Memphis and struggles. Now, he did say that some of
it was due to the strike zoneand what he was working on in Memphis,
so I know he's still a workin progress. But you just see
time and time again. Or GeorgeWalker, Hey, you're gonna be up
in a month. Go learn runthe outfield. Or Nolan Gorman, it's

(28:04):
spring training, go play second whenyou definitely could have seen that. Okay,
Eronado and Goldschmid aren't going anywhere anytimesoon. Maybe we should have these
guys learn other positions. But that'sjust me. I don't work in baseball.
Yeah, well, one of thosetwo should definitely be going somewhere soon,
because it'd be a mistake to bringGoldschmidt back next season thinking that this

(28:26):
team's going to compete. By theway, referenced a few times, but
Bob Nightingale in his notebook over theweekend, his little tidbit on the Cardinals
was that the Cardinals will pursue atleast three starting pitchers and trades and free
agency. That was something that Mosallactold the press last week, and in

(28:49):
Nightingale says that Julio Urius of theDodgers, Blake Snell of the Padres,
and Aaron Nola of the Phillies sittingto top their wish list. Well.
As we briefly discussed on King's Court, URIs has not pitched well going into
a season in which you know hecould be making a lot of money this
offseason. Blake Snell has pitched well, but you're gonna be paying a premium

(29:10):
for a guy who's a cy YoungAward winner and someone who has been pitching
extremely well for a underwhelming Padres teamthis year. And Aaron Nola, at
the age of thirty, has notpitched well this season either, so he's
not having a great season when itcomes to trying to maximize what he'll get
