five ninety The Fans and five ninetythe fan dot Com. Good afternoon,
ladies and gentlemen, Happy Friday, and welcome to High Noon. Take up
till two pm today. Joe DavisCoolbar Teams will take the rains from there

(00:31):
for a little cover two into HockeySense, what the Hell's going on here,
and then into the Bernie Show.So there's your line up here.
On five ninety Kevin Slayton's gonna joinus at twelve thirty. We'll have some
big programming news which will go intoeffect on Monday, so he will join
us at twelve thirty here coming upin just a little under a half an

(00:54):
hour. And then of course everyFriday really since the start of City season,
we have caught up with Jake Kaniggand Justin Graham from ball Watching and
we will talk about what City hasahead of them when they're remaining eleven matches,
five of which are at home. And it all starts nine days from

(01:15):
today when they welcome Austin to CityPark, So if you go all the
way back to the start of theyear, ironically it was Austin who they
went down and made a visit toin Texas and got the victory, and
that's how they got their campaign started. So it's been it's been a fun
season so far for City, witheleven matches left and still sitting at top

(01:37):
the Western Conference standings. We'll seehow things finish out after the league's Cup
action, and I guess that's stillongoing, so we'll get some details from
Jake and justin coming up at aboutone thirty coal. How the heck are
you happy Friday? My man?Oh, it's Friday. It's always a
good day when it's Friday. Youlove Fridays, except that you're it's really
your longest day. Oh wait,no, not really, because I guess

(02:00):
you're here till three anyhow. Yeah, but you have to work extra hard.
Well two to three, you gottareally. I'm here mine. It
is my longest day because I'm herethe longest afterwards, because I'm posting podcasts.
I'm catching up on previous shows.Podcast I post the podcast for four
different shows in a row. Yeah, and so I'm gonna be late to

(02:20):
the last couple of segments of HighNoon, and then that's gonna make me.
That's gonna go afterwards, and thenof course we'll cover two. I
gotta post it afterwards. I'm constantlyplaying catch up. So you're technically right,
but it is about the same. Now, let me ask you,
do you give preferential treatment to Covertwo, you know, as opposed to
the other shows, because as soonas it's done, you want to get

(02:43):
that podcast up. Is Cover twothe first to go up? Or even?
So? I don't think so Ihave to I do have to say,
like, you're very good at yourjob, You're extremely confident, you,
you know, handle a lot ofdifferent role year at five ninety,
I don't understand why you let thepodcast become such an adventure, Like why

(03:08):
not just knock it out? Oh, I guess it's a little different now
that you run the board and produce. Yeah, I take central. Yes.
And so for example, today wehad an entire segment dedicated to the
fiftieth anniversary of hip hop. SoI was I'm taking song requests from all
three of them. I gotta hear, okay, Mattie White Neer once outcast,

(03:29):
Charlie once outcast. We had differentgroups being shouted out. I would
tell them to shut up during thebreak. I did make one call myself.
I said, I got up becausewe had somebody in here working with
the phones, which have been adisaster for a long time, but they
have been working well since they werefixed this morning. But because people were
outside they were talking. We shutthe door for a while. It got

(03:50):
very hot in here, and thenI caught my own number. At some
point I got up, I putmy headphones down, I opened the door
and they said, why are youdoing that? There are people outside.
I said, you know what,we can talk louder than them because it's
hot in here. I'm sweating thatdoor neys to be open, so he
gets some mare flowing here. Idid call my own shot on that.
But I'm taking a song requests.I'm doing a bunch of things, and
I'm like, hey, everyone, just tell you know the podcast is gonna

(04:11):
be a little bit late because I'musing this computer for music right now.
We're having a little concert here.Would it be more advantageous if you know,
you told cam, hey, look, I gotta get the podcast up
during the break, and you couldliterally do it during the commercial break.
Yeah, that's cute. You thinkthat he doesn't go an hour and a

(04:31):
half of the first segment, andso I gotta spend the entire commercial break
finding the break point and cutting itup into three segments, and then I
gotta go listen back to it tosee what we talked about in those segments.
Why don't you write it down?I used to. I did that
like the first week, and thenI kept forgetting because I was involved in
the conversations. Huh, it's veryvery detailed. Well, it's bizarre.

(04:55):
I did it for a year andfour months. So I'm confused as to
why it's become so challenging. Well, not so much that show, it's
the other shows, especially today, because it's back to back to back to
back to back. Yeah, butyou could get it's impossible. I know
it's possible. There they're distractions,is my point. Yeah. I mean,

(05:17):
it's not like we're we're saving liveshere in the business, not exactly.
The most difficult thing in the world, of course, isn't. And
I'm not saying it is, allright, I'm just saying, distractions arise,
Conversations arise. Oh hey, Coli, now you're on the air.
We want to we want to talkto you about this. Get your take
on this, okay? Oh hey, oh no, no, no.
The podcast people are saying, whyare the podcast not Oh sorry, I

(05:39):
was talking about this discussion point blahblah blah. Do you this is a
little inside baseball, but this isall inside baseball? Do you record the
segment in uh? In in audition? Which is an okay, so you
don't You don't have to wait thenfor the top of the hour for the
audio to log itself on our server. No, you don't pull that off.
That's sauce that is That audio isalso not top notch quality. So

(06:03):
that's that's the main reason I doit as because the audio is clearly different.
Yeah, in the event, therewas a day where I was late,
and uh, I was rolling inhere about seven forty five, so
I did have to wait to thetop of the hour. Guarantee that first
segment didn't sound very good audio wise. Second segments probably sounding great because I
was recording it live. Wow.Anyway, you and I know what we're

(06:25):
talking about. I don't know.Yes, I don't think probably anybody who
doesn't work in any sort of audioediting or radio industry probably is like,
what the hell are they discussing?Shut up and get onto something else.
Hey real quick? Uh? Imean, my goodness, what's unraveling or
up in flames? I suppose inMaui is absolutely devastating. Now, fifty

(06:49):
five dead on Maui and residents reallyhad little to almost no warning before the
the island went up in flames, and there are still a thousand people still
missing. You've got bodies that arelike lying in the ocean, and some

(07:10):
of the photos that have made theirway on to social media and different websites
are just devastating. And I don'tknow, man, that's awful. I've
I've been to Hawaii. I've beento Lahinah, where it looks like an
apocalypse has ripped through that town. And so I just pray for all of

(07:33):
those people on the island and hopefullyemergency crew and personnel can do their job
and safely evacuate the remaining folks lefton that island and be safe themselves.
Obviously, it's just absolutely crazy tolook at this the footage where the fires

(07:54):
have ripped through. So there wasa tsunami in nighteen sixty on the island
that killed sixty one people. Andthen I think in nineteen forty six there's
a tsunami that killed more than onehundred and fifty people on the Big Island
and that kind of prompted a territorywide emergency system which includes all the sirens

(08:16):
and those are tested like what youhear here in Missouri on I think like
the first Tuesday of the month whenthey blast the tornado sirens, but with
a fireman. I'm in Holy Cowand it's just absolutely incredible footage to see
in devastating, to say the veryleast, so awful, awful, awful

(08:39):
wreckage out of out of Maui.So praying for those folks and hopefully hopefully
they can rescue those who need helpright now. So that is awful.
Before I've been to Maui, yeah, I mean actually it was on my
way home from Australia and I metmy parents and my brother out there for

(09:03):
a week and a half. Soit was cool. I mean, it's
a cool island. It's Hawaii isvery unique, and Maui is very touristy,
but it's it's Hawaii. Man.It's awesome. It's incredible, beautiful
views and the ocean is gorgeous andamazing golf courses, and the restaurants are

(09:26):
terrific, the fresh as fish.In fact, there's a place called the
I think it's Paia Paia maybe PaiaiFish Market, which is in Lahina,
which I vividly remember going to dinner, you know, not that long on
Boom. I think that whole frontstrip has just been completely burned to ash.

(09:48):
So it was an iconic kind offish market right there, and still
as expensive there as I hear,uh yeah, probably, Well we think
about it. Were your parents pickingup the no money? Yeah? You
kidding me. I had just gottenback from Australia, although I did have
a little I had a little extracash when I came back from Australia because

(10:09):
there was a casino down in Sydneycalled The Star, and it was pretty
wild. They had these roulette stationswhere you literally sat at your own station
and had an iPad in front ofyou, and there were like four wheels
that looked like an air hockey bubblegame and it was a real roulette wheel
and it would it was rapid,so it would go every thirty seconds and
then you could see it up onthe screen. There was like a camera

(10:31):
that showcased it and you could justhit on your little pad or whatever like
repeat last bet. Well, Iplayed the same numbers and pretty much the
same bet every time, and Iwas killing it. I mean I was,
Oh, I was just absolutely on. What's my strategy? Yeah?
Did you usually ask me what mystrat was? Yeah? And I've regretted
it as soon as I Oh mygod, I've never been asked what's your

(10:54):
strat? Strategy is play your lucknumbers? Of course, twenty three Georgie.
I just played. Actually, soReese Hoskins, who I lived with
down there, his number was thirtythree with the Sydney Blue socks. So
I played quite a bit at thirtythree and thirty three hit it kept hitting,

(11:16):
and I actually got up well overtwo thousand dollars, and then it
started to go kind of down theother way. And I'm not even kidding
you. Reese came over and overmy shoulder he hit the print out button
when it was at like fourteen hundreddollars and he made me go see the
guy count out fourteen hundo, anduh, I think I went back and

(11:39):
lost another two hundred. But Istill wont like twelve hundred dollars, which
was nice. That's a nice dayat the office. Yeah, considering I
was spending outrageously in Australia because itfelt like a vacation for four months,
to pad your wallet with about twelvethirteen hundred dollars going back to the States
was nice. I took a vacationlast year, if you haven't heard,

(12:01):
and it was it was nice tokind of feel that sort of freedom of
like, you know what, it'sa week. If I spend a little
bit more than I tipically do,so be it. It's just a week.
Four months. I kind of seemslike a dangerous attitude to hold for
four months. Yeah, and Ionly worked four out of every twelve days,
so yeah, I had a lotof time. Oh. The paychecks

(12:22):
were non existent. In fact,I don't think I got paid till like
two months in when I finally wentto the guy who was running the team
and I was like Mark, He'slike, yeah, how are you doing
MT? And I'm like, man, you gotta pay me, Like I've
got to get paid. I haven'tgotten paid in two months. He's like,
you're kidding me. Might I'm like, well, you would know you
write the checks, yea, LikeMark, what is the deal. He's

(12:43):
like, oh man, we'll getthat look Indian your bank, like pretty
soon. And I'm like no,not pretty soon, like we gotta get
that done, like now, likeI gotta have some money. And so
finally I think he wrote me acheck for like a grand but that was
not the stipend. That's how Iwas paid. I was paid on a
stipend. So I think it wasa total of like twenty five hundred dollars,
which is nothing. I don't evenknow of. Twenty five hundred dollars

(13:05):
covered the flight back to and fromAustralia. Are you serious? Oh yeah,
it was a total. This wasa life experience. This wasn't don't
make money and this was your gapyear. Absolutely now I know we're talking
about Yeah, well, I meanyou know it was. And I had
to make a decision. It waslike real quick because the Frisco I guess

(13:26):
the minor league baseball season ends andwhat September, end of the end of
August, and I got a calland was like, hey, you want
to go do games that starts inOctober down in Sydney, Australia. I'm
like, wait, where you said, Sydney, Australia. Sure, so
hopped on a flight out of Dallasseventeen and a half hours, little Lambian,
little Jamison boom boom boom, lightsout, cruise right into Sydney and

(13:50):
called a game later that night. So it was wild, unbelievable story.
And it's not so the Frisco RoughRiders of people who hooked you up of
that job. Well, the kidwho run who worked for the league,
the Australian Baseball League, Andrew Reynolds. He did games for the Northwest Arkansas
Naturals, which is the Double Aaffiliate for the Kansas City Royals, so

(14:13):
he kind of had connections inside theTexas League and so he threw it out
there to his buddies, like, hey, you guys know anybody who might
be interested in coming down here andcalling games and getting some extra work in.
And that's when Andrew buck Binder, voice of the Springfield Cardinals, called
me and was like, Hey,you want to go do this? And
I say sure, And it allhappened within about a span of two weeks.

(14:35):
Nice ye, it's crazy. AndI've told you that as soon as
I got there, they dropped meoff at what was going to be the
host family, the little house thatI was going to stay at, And
it was Halloween, so they hadreplaced their light bulbs with black lights.
And I'm like, what the whatis going on here? And I walk
in in the house. It's justlike eerily weird. The parent are weird.

(15:00):
The daughters got like a pet spider, they got ferrets outside. They've
got these little napping dogs that comehowling at me as soon as I walk
in the door. Right un I'mlike, oh my god, let me
pull out a pistol and shoot thesethings. I'm kidding, Peter, I'm
joking. But they've got all theseanimals. And then they bring me into
the living room and they got twohuge bookshelves and there are two snakes that

(15:24):
are just hissing to high hell, and they're like they reassure me. They're
like, oh, yeah, they'veonly escaped from the things once. And
I'm like, they've only escaped once. Well, that's terrific. I mean,
I think I'll be leaving now.So I literally I stayed there the
night. I did not sleep, and I went into the ballpark the next

(15:46):
day and I said, I'm notgoing back to that house, so figure
something out. They put me upin a hotel for like two nights.
And then that's when Chuck Taylor, who was a center fielder in the Diamondbacks
organization, tried to make a divingcatch and he rolled his wrist back,
so he's injured, had to getsurgery on his wrists. The Diamondbacks flying
back to the States opens up aroom in the house where Hoskins and Jamie

(16:08):
Westbrook and Alex Baylager living, threeplayers in pro bawl Reese obviously well known
because he plays first base for thePhillies, and I slide into there.
You should see me. Man.It was like I went and knocked on
this door. Okay, I knewknock on this door, and they're like,
oh my god, who is this? We're gonna have to live with
the freaking announcer like, who isthis JAPRONI And what is the deal?

(16:33):
I mean, he's got probably gonnabe the biggest loser, and uh,
I forget what happened. But likelater that night, I cracked some joke
where it was pretty obvious that Iwas not a big loser, you know,
and something that was like, ohman, this guy is actually he
seems like a pretty good time.So if you cracked open a bottle,
they're like, this guy's all right, yeah, probably passed that over here.

(16:55):
Yeah, and the rest is history. So we had that was how
was the time? If? Man, it was really something down there?
We definitely lived it up pretty outrageous. Well good as long as you had
fun. Oh I had a bunchof fun. Good. Oh yeah.
It was a little weird though, because you'd get to like Thanksgiving and Christmas
and like, you know, allyour family I got. My mom's side

(17:15):
is pretty big, and they'd allbe like gathering and it's sort of like,
man, what am I doing?I'm a long ways away down here.
So I mean, there were someweird times to get a little lonely
because they'd go on the road andI wouldn't go on the road. So
that's when I would have like sevendays to myself to go explore Sydney,
and me on my own can bea little dangerous. I'm not kidding you

(17:37):
to tell you that. You'll liveto tell about it. That's what it's
all about. You made some lifelongmemories. Did you lose some money along
the way? Sure? Are youbroke? Because of it. No,
So all in all, it soundslike a great experience. To me,
it was a win. It wasa win, no question about it.
The Freeburg Midget says, I wasin Lahina last month. Can't believe it's
gone. It really is crazy whenyou look at that. That is something

(18:00):
microbiologist checks. It sounds like Nateis calling cole a TFP for what when
did I go we questioning my worldwhen I was going after podcasting. Well,
no, I mean just not tolike not to lay on you because
of this, but I know itjust seems like the podcast should not be

(18:22):
as big of a deal as itseems to be. Well, distractions happen
on the morning show? Are youshocked by that? But we should probably
keep talking And I'm saying this aboutmyself. You should probably start calling a
hot Take Central more it gets referencedas the morning show. Yeah, And
I feel like for listeners who maynot listen to that shouldn't be like what
are they talking about? Branded They'regoogling podcast the morning show and they're like,

(18:45):
I can't find this this five nineand fan morning show. It's hot
Take Central. Well, considering thatthe last morning show was the Morning after,
so it's yeah, maybe we shouldnot brand. Yeah we merged with
that. No, no, butthat would be wild. Can you imagine
if if there were a camel orhowever many Tim, Doug and Iggy with

(19:07):
Cam, Charlie and Cat and Jacksonand then me and prod Joe and Jackson
are all producing together, and thenIggy's a producer, so we have four
producers on the show, so theproducer to host ratio would almost be equal.
That would be a wild time. That would be I don't know how
anybody would get a wording. Thatwould be the line change all over again,

(19:29):
like chie Fast, where everybody justtalks over each other. Yeah,
exactly, but that's how he wantsit. I'm not kidding. The first
time you cracked that joke on me, You're like, I was listening to
their shows last night and I hearda bunch of conversations happening at the exact
same time, and I was like, okay. So I'm like, okay,
I gotta have a different approach tonight. So I go into his show

(19:51):
and I'm sitting in the corner andthey're pinballing back and forth, and it's
fast, fast, fast, fastfast. Some people talking over each other,
you know. And so I'm sittingthere, I'm all right, I'm
just waiting for my lane, waitingfor the lane to open up so I
can jump in make my point wheneverwe're talking about And I'm sitting back there
and that one's talking over each other, and he was, hey, your
mute over there, like what's goingon. Charlie said that that's how That's

(20:12):
how he wanted it. He wantedeverybody talking about it. Yeah, I'm
talking at the exact same time. And so I'm like, you know what,
if that's what you want, thenthat's what we'll do. Tuna.
You used to tell me one time, you know what we do radio different
than anybody else in town. AndI said, well, I think that
is true. I can assure youthat I think that's definitely true. You

(20:33):
know. I love Charlie, Tuna. He's a good man. He wants
you to appear on the show sometime. Well, I told him I would.
I said, my you have togo through my agent, though,
Yeah, man, who's that inme? I don't I don't know.
Right now. I'm representing you,Yeah, you're representing me. You take
ten percent? Yeah, that's gladlyJack wants to know how many Sydneys you

(20:55):
explored. I can't say. Youknow, you don't kiss and tell my
can't be doing that. It's adifferent con Yes you can. I will
tell you if you ever get thechance to go explore Sydney and you take
that ocean walk from Bondai Beach whereit is just like the most icon probably
the most iconic beach in all ofSydney, launch all these you know,
just beautiful, beautiful people. Andsometimes you know there will be just a

(21:19):
beautiful lady out there with nothing on, you know, letting it all soak
in that vitamin D. And you'relike, oh my god, well you
don't know, you don't want crazytan lines. No, you gotta let
it even out. That's right, you get the whole thing. Yeah,
and uh yes, oh my gosh, smoke show. I remember, because
I don't know how you feel aboutgirls women with tattoos. Small tattoos good

(21:45):
in fact, sometimes great sleeves. Not for me. I think I have
this lasting image. There was afine woman right in front of me,
and she had a sleeve up herright arm and then a sleeve down her
left leg, and I mean herbody was just absolutely like perfect. It

(22:07):
was. It was, it waskissed by the sun. She had beautiful
hair, you know, a littlebit of blonde mixed in with that brunette.
And I mean her body with thosetattoos were just like immaculate and I
can show my god, oh myword, just beautiful. She was just
stunningly beautiful. And that was probablywhat hit me the most about Australia is

(22:30):
just the beauty that they possessed.First of all, they walk, they
exercise, they're all over the place. Like it's very rare to be on
the beach and see, like ChrisChristie, you just don't You just don't
have to your your eyes, don'thave to go through that sort of trauma.
No, which is very nice.We should try that more often here.
Yeah, shut down the beach justfor yourself. Yeah. Well,

(22:55):
you know what with the way Christylike flops around like a whale when he
gets into the ocean, he doeskind of need a private beach. That's
a big body. Save the water, Save the whales. Stephen A.
Smith is trying to get him onthe debates. Not even the sharks want
to taste to Christie's big old titties, you know, going out in the
style, aren't you all right?Let's take a break. It's twelve twenty

(23:18):
eight. When we come back,a little programming update with the King,
Kevin Slayton one thirty, Jake kanegand Justin Graham will talk a little city
and also I've got some topics.I got a hit about this Rory McElroy
accusing Phil Mickelson of Chia of gamblingon the Ryder Cup. I think it
is ridiculous, So stay with us, mort coom'm it's hinnoon on five ninety fIF
