Speaker 1 (00:08):
The s S S.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Hey everybody, Welcome back to hit Point, the anime news Show,
the j RPG News Show, the niche News Show, where
Bacu and I talk about anything and everything that catches
our interest and or I are. We stream live every
single Sunday at seven pm Central eight pm Eastern Time,
will be preview on some trailers, talking about some upcoming
games and maybe even responding to some super chants. Towards

(01:33):
the end of the show, Baku, how are you doing today? Man?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
You were so close? You just are just I know,
so close, just perfection.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
You know, it's because it's because I last did this. Uh,
And I think this is part of part of why
I stumbled there. For a second. The back of my head,
I was thinking, we we also did the stream on
like Tuesday, and I'm like, man, it's been really it's
it's not been very at all. So I'm like, I'm
in the group. But then I'm like every single Sunday.

(02:04):
And then in the back of my head, I'm like,
and sometimes Tuesdays and you know, brain's running a thousand
miles an hour, and well, hey, that's that's just what
you get here, guys. The most professional podcast on all
of YouTube. Can you believe it?

Speaker 3 (02:18):
That's right?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Nominated nominated for most professional podcast on all of YouTube's
by myself. I I was the one who did it.
I'm sorry, that was me.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Can I can I toot a horn?

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Say Everyboddy if you wanted to, it's fine, you may
do so.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
I didn't know this until recently, but we're actually quite
known with the indie developer scene. What it's weird. Yeah,
because the other day I was scrolling through Twitter and
I was like, oh, hey, there's a game that looks interesting.
And now I'm like, oh yeah, this game is pretty cool.

(02:57):
It's like an indie game. And I just retweeted and
they're like, oh my god, we'd love you guys all
you know who we are.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
That's that's random. I mean, hey, that's that's cool. I
love it.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
I appreciate it. Yeah, we love them, they love us back.
It's it's mutual absolutely. Any who. Yeah, so my week
has been great since Tuesday. That is, you know, busy,
keeping myself busy. Now that school's over, I am looking
for a new goal. Uh and and that's to work

(03:32):
on some kind of work related things. But as soon
as that's done, I'm really planning to, you know, dive
head into learning Japanese again. And it's one of those
things where I really want to get very serious about
doing yea, and not just like oh yeah, sure, I'll
watch an anime, you know, Oh yeah, you know, I'll

(03:53):
do this and I'll learn. Like no, I want to
sit down and hours and really learned this thing. Yeah,
you know what actually worked pretty well. I think it
works pretty well for me at least, And which is
to say I got from like doing nothing, I got
from making no progress towards being able to at least

(04:16):
string together a few sentences. Uh is the Pimsler.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Method of U of Japanese. Yeah, p I M S
L E.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
You are.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
It's a series of like audio programs that when you
what you should do is you you listen to it
and you respond to it. You you visualize you are
Like it guides you through having a conversation. Like you know,
someone will say I don't know sent you know, excuse me,

(04:49):
and and then like you respond.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
And then someone says like uh anataa Mattica gin disca,
and they're saying are you an American? You say uh,
and then you say no, I'm not American. No. It
guides you through like different responses and common phrases that
you might encounter, just like in public, and the the
immediate no, no, not me, not me, I'm not.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
This is never admit that you are American. Sees uh,
I'm telling you it's it's I must say this like
it's and it's not controversial. If you travel outside of
the country, this is not controversial. People hate Chinese tourists
and I'm Chinese, and I'm like, well, is the wrong

(05:36):
It's a different kind of Chinese. But at the same time,
it's like, okay, you're not going to listen to nuance
isn't meaning right? So I'm like, well, what's my fallback? American?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Dang, we're like the second most Like so I'm kind
of I'm kind of yeah, can you can you just
say that you're from like Singapore or something, I.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Say, I would say Canadian. I was like, oh, yes,
it's for ten years.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I can do that. I can. I can put on
a pretty good Canadian accent.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, that's that's terrible, both booth Canadian.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
I mean, all you really have to do is say sorry, sorry, Yeah.
I love my Canadian viewers because Tyler's in here because
they suffer me silently. Tyler is in here judging us
right now. Is Tyler Canadian?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Okay? And and for those of you at home who
who somehow don't know yet, Tyler is the name of
Well when when somebody works on an indie j r PG, uh,
their name becomes Tyler, as I as I find out.
So the more Tyler's you have on your your g
RPG indie dev team, uh, the more Japanese it becomes.

(06:52):
It's the weirdest thing. The true story though.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yeah, should we talk about news? We should probably talk
about So I'll just say this all this talk about
like whether something is a JRPG. Just just ask them
how many Tyler works on their game, and if it
passes the threshold, then it's a JRPG.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
It's kind of like the Bechdel test, only for like JRPGs.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
All right, I think I think we could go over
the news yesterday.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
All right, Yeah, let's talk about some Let's talk about
some news because we have updates. Yeah, who's turn, turn
your turn, I'll do this, Okay.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
So the update is in regards to Fantasy Life I
the Girl who Steals Time, which was released a few
days ago had already sold more than five hundred thousand units,
which is pretty impressive. I think, I don't think. Yeah,
I didn't think that this game would sell that much,

(07:54):
but it did.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Up. I think Fantasy Life has like kind of a
pretty good side cult following, and I really underappreciated that
because it's something that was like way under my radar,
because I think the first was like a three D
S game.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Thousand is quite a bit for like just a few days. Yeah,
the first two days. It's it's been more than two
days now, but they reported the five hundred thousand number
within the first two days. That's pretty good, like in
in context, right, like what uh Metal no, not Metal?

(08:31):
Uh clear Obscurity Expedition, Yeah, Expedition thirty three was like
two million units, and they're like super celebrating like game
of the year. Yeah, but that's like supposed to appease
a much broader audience, right, So for a game like
Fantasy Life selling five K, that's very impressive.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah. And and let's let's be real, let's be real, Uh,
Fantasy Life Eye has probably got a lot of overlap
with like its target demographic, with people who are probably
still enjoying the heck out of Clare Obscure or the
New Oblivion, or like any number of other things that
are vying for their time there. It's been on a
competition a lot of really great games lately. Yeah, good

(09:17):
problems to have, to be very honest. Now, developer and
publisher Level five announced that they will be releasing a
free DLC called Update the World with the exclamation Mark.
Due to the game's global success, so they recognize that, hey,
this is this is great. We're going to give you
guys a new update, free update now.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
The update will feature new recipes and new content, but
the release date has not been announced yet, so fans
should you know, just keep an eye out for whenever
dot comes up, and just know that there is a
free update coming out and that Level five appreciates your support.
I like, I love that about developers love it. Yeah, absolutely,

(10:01):
That's that's the main reason why we're talking about this.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
I gotta say I love it when I get to
say that DLC is coming and uh and that it
is free. That's those are my two favorite things. Hey,
this game that you really enjoy, well, it's doing so
well that they just decided to give you more. Yeah,
gotta love that stuff.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Uh in that case, moving along, last time I got
to say that was was due to See Stars. Thank
you See Stars.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Uh So moving on, we have some upcoming games that
are coming out this week. So let's take a look
here at this first one, Fuga Star. Oh you may,
you may?

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Okay, I'm totally taking down.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
I know you like this one.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
I do like Fuga man. I I have not play
I'll admit right now I I have not played a
single Fuga game, but I've watched them and yeah, they're
they're getting wrenching. Man. Can we please take a look
at the trailers since we're going to talk about Fuga
Melodies of Steel three.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Oh yeah, let's pull it up. Let's take a look
at that beautiful footage here of there we go.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
It looks like something I would really enjoy. It, have
not the time to go and touch it, and like,
the more games they release, the more of a one
piece uh effect it has on me. It does not
make sense.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, I have to readjust this real quick. I just
realized that the screen was gigantic there first. It's going
off to the screen because I interested my screen resolution
that things break, but that's okay.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah, it's like one piece, right, Like the more episodes
they released, the greater this entire piece of thing is,
and the harder it is for me to start at all.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Has FUGA been getting physical releases? Is it not? I
feel like, is this the third I know this is
the third game, but is this like the finale or
is this a conclusion? Do we know?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
No, we don't know.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
We don't know, Okay.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I feel like, uh, if it's sos, well, they might
just do a Fouger four. Why not? What's stopping them? Look,
if fans want more of the same thing and want
the story to continue, then they get what they want.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
I'm sure that they will.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Yeah, it's ready to.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
I mean I would as long as they don't destroy
the planet at the end or something. There's always room
for continuation.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
I just wouldn't pull a Stallish in three. That's that's
the one thing that I really didn't like about it.
Stallish and three kind of like kill the entire series
because it's spoilers. Well, no, it's it's in the name.
It's it's the it's the end of time, like it's
literally plays at the Ferry end of everything. So all
all the you know, new games can do is make

(12:58):
games in between and thing and three, and that kind
of ruined the you know, creative flexibility, right, So it's
all in the same universe, right, So yeah, that's unfortunate
for me. So hopefully they don't make that same mistake
and like write themselves into an they can't write themselves
out of.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, the corner to end all corners that you've written
yourself into, especially if it's like a bad ending. Well,
apparently someone in chat here Costa says that play Asia
has got physical copies of FUGA, so that's nice.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
It's probably.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
The Asian English edition thing. It's how that usually goes, Yeah,
which is valid unless well unless you want to do DLC.
That's the only thing that gets a little annoying is
if you want to do DLC. Yeah, if you just
want to play the Bass game, those those are perfectly fine.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
So make sure when you go to play Asia you
look at it. If it says Asia and English, well
it's probably Southeast Asian version.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
But is there any reason you can't just get like
a Southeast Asia region like PlayStation account or or switch
account like But.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
That's that's the that's the pain. Yeah, Like, you know,
if you're ready to have an account and then you
have to set up credit card again and then you
have to walk into a whole new like.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
To get a physical copy of a game. Anyway, especially
especially if it's because you're you know, stuck on doing
physical stuff and you really want to support that, I think,
I mean, you're probably more likely to spend money on
that account than you are in the regular US account.
You think about it, well, yeah, unless you don't do

(14:47):
DLCs at all, then yeah, because I guess that does
fly in the face of that.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
But now here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
I say all that, but I personally buy Southeast Asian
English version physical game all the time from play Asias.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
So yeah, me to me, I am a supporter. I
just want people to know, who has not tried this,
that there is a small catch to that. Yeah, it's tiny,
tiny catch, little Right back to Fuga Melodies of Steel
three again. It is the third game in the series.
It will be coming out in May twenty ninth, So

(15:23):
this week this Thursday, I think, yeah, Thursday, Yeah, on
all modern platforms except for the switch to It just
saves me from saying all the platforms. Oh sure, sure,
everything minus switched to.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
And honestly, there's no reason you need a switch to version.
You just stick in the switch one card. I mean, well,
if you get it from play Asia anyway.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Pretty much so right, speaking of switch to though.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Speaking of next up, we have on the thirtieth Wait
is the switch to out now?

Speaker 3 (16:00):
I don't know, but it's available on the switch to version. Okay,
you can buy the game before the system comes out.
Apparently you just have the cart and you can't use it. Yeah,
that's all.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
I've been living under a rock king on switch to
and I looked it up.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
To state is uh no, I think it came out already.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Is it already out? People have it?

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Yeah, I've been living under a rock.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Okay, Apparently that happened when I wasn't looking. Welcome to
the Welcome to the channel where I'm going to give
you the news where I'm finding out about old news.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
We're supposed to be that US channel, sir. What's going on?

Speaker 2 (16:42):
We've all got our blind spots, and and mine just
happens to be a console I can't afford yet. So
moving along, we have Rune Factory, Guardians of Ozma and dude,
I've actually been kind of excited about this one.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
See that's why I read the other ones that you
can read this one.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
I thought it's because you wanted to meet a read
something about a horror game. I mean, that's usually how
it goes.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
I mean, anything could be a horror game if you
play it wrong.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
And with that, here's the trailer for Rute Factory Guardians
of Ozma. Yeah uh yeah, okay, So people are saying
switch To releases June fifth. Okay, I'm not completely like
I said, if you can, you can, you can have
the game and like not have the system to play.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I'm like getting the game.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
I'm like, people should be talking about this more if
it's already out. If I'm just if this is how
I found out that the switch To already released, it
must have really had a botched launch, more munched than i'll.
You know, I thought it came out in Japan already,
but maybe not. I could have sworn someone said they
were playing it already. Some people probably have review units

(17:53):
or something, or maybe not review units, but you know
what I mean.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
But they are very prominent content creators.

Speaker 2 (17:59):
So okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's probably it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
I followed this one Japanese content creator that's very prominent,
and I could have scorn day said that they were
playing the Switch to you, but yeah, probably anyway, Yeah, yeah,
that's the thing. I actually heard that Nintendo wasn't actually
giving out switch to units for reviewers. Oh they're not,
they're not.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Yeah. Yeah, so this guy, he just happened to be
playing one that fell off the back of a truck
or something.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
No idea, no idea. I could just remember wrong too,
So I readthings pretty quickly.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
And okay, oh, it might have been one of those
events where you can go and play it. I know
that in New York there's an option could be Yeah, yeah,
look at that.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Is there any reason that this game should look better
than say, a multi billion dollar franchise?

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Here? Look at Look at those scary monster you're telling
me this is not a horror game. Look at the
Oh my god, this looks great. I would be so
happy if Pokemon Yokai look at it.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Do you imagine if Pokemon looked like this? That'd be great?

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Dude.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Ooh, romance, that's something that's missing for Pokemons.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Yeah, there are bachelor bachchillers and bachelorettes in this game.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Hmm.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
There's even a trailer for just introducing all the bachelors
and then another one just introducing all the bachelorettes.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
It's smart to have two different videos.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
And they also have a character video for all the
important characters. They're going all in a.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Total of sixteen romance candidates there.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
There there is a separate video for every single one
of these people too. Wow dedicated this So I'm like, yo,
marvelous is going all in on this one, and.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
I was, honestly though, I'm kind of okay with the
fact that Pokemon doesn't let you romance your rivals or whatever.
I'm kind of okay with that.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
I I'm totally okay with that. Pokemon's demographics are still kids.
They don't they don't need they don't need that.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
You hears that children, Yeah, No. But seriously, like this
looks pretty solid. I mean, considering the last rune factory
that I've played was.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
On the we I think the last rune factory, even
the most modern one like handheld, right, it was nothing
compared to this, Like this is miles like it was
improvements concerned.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
It looks absolutely marvelous.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yeah, but our five was like very oh and my friend,
Oh right, our five is the one that I think
the one that my friend played, where like if you
try to place like furnitures in your house, yeah, like
a bookcase, there's a giant gap between the wall and
the book and there's nothing you can do about it. It's

(21:11):
just a giant gap and it just looks so bad
and awkward. Yeah, I think that was R five.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Well, guys, you saw here. You can play the game
on the thirtieth here and just a little less than
a week it's coming out on the switch, the switch
to and the PCVA Steam. Of course, you'll have to
wait a little longer to play it on the switch too,
as we just learned moments ago.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
You just stare at the game four minutes like, when's
my switch to coming out?

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Right? I just got to go Google switch to launch date,
still find nothing, and then be like I don't know.
Chat's like, guys, come on, oh man, all right, Well
we have some rids to talk about too. Yeah, speaking
of new game, here's one that we had just talked
about last Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
The game is called Order and excuse Me, and we
did talk about this on Tuesday. It is from Tucho Games,
and we are talking about it again, because last time
we talked about it, it was like the briefest like
teaser trailer that didn't really tell us anything other than

(22:28):
like the world's ending or whatever. But like it just
doesn't have any substance, right right, wouldn't you know it?
After a couple of days they had all the information,
L released day a new trailer. I'm like, why didn't
you just do this from the get go?

Speaker 2 (22:41):
I'll tell you why, and the guys a little bit
of inside baseball here, I'll tell you why they did this, Baku,
and you already know why. It's so that we would
talk about it again.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Yeah. Sorry, that was a rhetorical question.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
I know, but but I have to. I have to
belabor this. This is the stuff that Baku actually sifts
through before the show. And it's it's so frustrating that
these organizations, these companies will piecemeal things out. They'll constantly
release a little bit of updates. Oh here's a new
character trailer. Oh here's an announcement of who's voicing this game.
And it's not because anybody cares. It's because they want

(23:17):
to state people. They want to continue to have your
ears occupied by people like us talking about it.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Yeah, be as relevant as long as possible.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
So yep, sorry to sorry to break the charade, but anyways,
let's let's continue on.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yes, so, uh, something to be excited about because they
did give a lot of information here, so it warns
the to revisit. Uh, so uh to talk about this game.
Stre tend Order is a multi genre adventure game from
the Donkat Side Donka Nompa creator Kaskotaka. The game takes

(24:00):
place in a world that is approaching the end and
a strange religious organization called the Ten Orders rapidly gained
supporters and formed a small nation state, and one day
the founder was murdered, but was resurrected as they shimobile.

(24:21):
Who is the main character that you play?

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Us?

Speaker 3 (24:24):
But you, of course us, all main characters do lost
all your memories of course, so of course us they do. Uh.
So you're going through this whole world that is ending
soon and I don't know. Let's watch the trailer and okay,
what we can get from that?

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Yeah, let's see if let's see if this can.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
It?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Lisit more of an emotional response from me than you
saw last time. I don't I legit don't remember what
we saw on Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
It was like nothing. It was just a tiny teaser
just to say we're making a game.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Okay, that's why I don't remember.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
There's actually some gameplay look to this. It's kind of
it's kind of esque again, I'm gonna have gameplay though,
right A bit, yeah, just a bit. So it's that
kind of like visual novel esque, you know, like click.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Okay, there was a little bit of movement there. I
saw someone like I saw a.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Polygon, yeah, which you know, at least like the newer
ones also had similar elements. Yeah, yeah, yeah, five crime
suspects of course, five adventure games. Five adventure games.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Oh maybe it's five different like scenarios, depending on which
you choose to investigate.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Yeah, another mystery. Uh, there's the dungeons.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
There's the dungeon crawl. Yeah. Sure.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
It's like they're taking all the stuff that they've learned
through the years of making do and just like applying
through a different story.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
That's kind of how I look at it.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
The art style is definitely different from.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Oh that kind of me from the top down perspective,
like that wasn't all dungeon Crawley I guess what it
really isn't so or maybe there's just different perspectives.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Find it wouldn't kill you and make them confess their
sin and make them pay. Huh, all right, and order.
I I like the I like the arts so far.
I do like the art.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
I just really want to see more of, Like what
is the gameplay?

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Play? Gameplay?

Speaker 2 (26:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Like more?

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Or is it? Or is there or is there really
not any like? Is there no combat? Is it all
just dialogue trees? I don't think there's going to be combat,
So it's just dialogue trees and dungeon crawling for the
sake of like walking around in a maze.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
I guess probably. Yeah. I think this is going to
be more don connomba game like solving mystery no combats.
Yeah okay, I mean even Code Rain, it's like it
kind of has combat, but like really no, like not really. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
I think it feels like a missing It feels like
a missing piece to me, But then again, it didn't
feel like it was missing all that much from like
Corpse Party when I played that, which is also basically
a horror RPG without combat. I don't know, it's it's interesting. Yeah,

(27:48):
all right, Well I guess we'll keep an eye out
for when when does it come out?

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Surprisingly, not that long from now. Actually, this game is
slated to be released in September fifth, which is the
out like three months from now, four months?

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Four months yep? Yeah, oh wait wait this is yeh
three months. Oh gosh, it's September. Really that close?

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Oh yes, we're like almost beginning June, and this is
beginning in September, so it's about three months in a week.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
I really don't like how quickly time is going by.
Could somebody slow like turn off the fast forward?

Speaker 3 (28:24):
But once we hit a certain age, sir, it just
that just happens.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Yeah, you know, I was watching an episode of The
Angry Video Game Nerds. He put out a new one.
You put out a new one, and it is good. It
was actually crazy re revisiting uh Dragon's Layer, I think,
did you see that?

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Oh. But he had he had the perfect analogy for
what life is like, and he said, it's like it's
like a toilet paper roll. At first, you know, you
pull a little and then the you know, the role
gets a little bit smaller. But then as you go
the more the oh, because you're nearing the end, and
it starts off nice and pristained, but by the end

(29:05):
it's all covered in crap.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
I perfect hate how accurate that is? I know, I know.
Oh right, Sorry, that's September fifth, so very close. But
it's on the switch and PC switch to is absent here,
but I'm pretty sure it'll come out to the switch to.
Anything that comes out to the switch, I have a
hard time imagining that it won't, you know, be available

(29:31):
to switch to somehow, so not not that it matters.
I think you can play it anyways. Anyways, Yeah, Switch
and PC awesome.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
All right, Well, next up, we have another game that
we did talk about some time ago called Artists Impact.
That's a r TIS Artists Impact from developer muz. This
is a two D turn based RBG where you play
is Ak, who must traverse the post apocalyptic length escape

(29:59):
to the discover the world's secrets. So let's check out
those secrets of Artists Impact here.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Yeah, I think you might be interested in this. It's
quite nice. Remember do you remember looking at this?

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Yes? I do. It took a second, but.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
Yeah, it's familiar all of a sudden, apparently it's hand drawn.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, and I think.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Like the little map.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
I do dig that. Yeah, some of that animation in
this kind of reminds me of like Prince of Persia.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Hmmm, Oh no, wait, what does it do with the bunny?
Buy the bunny? I thought you were gonna kill the
bunny art end of game. Yeah, that's the term based

(31:05):
combat right there.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
That reminds me of like the old school animations that
I used to watch in like gift format. I think
you know what I'm talking about. It's so fluid and
ridiculously good looking.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Oh okay, so I think that that wait on, is
that gameplay here?

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Let me rewind.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
I guess is that gameplay?

Speaker 2 (31:25):
It looks like it.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Yeah, what do you have to like edit like video
in the game.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
I think this is the art that they were creating.
I thought I could be wrong. I don't think you
have to like draw in the game. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
I don't think, wow, or.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Maybe you do. Maybe that's where the artists comes from.
Maybe it's like an art game. Okay, let's let's rewatch
this here. I just pixel art, Okay. I think that
this is just them like, yeah, this is just a program,
and that they're showing how they made it.

Speaker 3 (31:59):
Yeah, I was wondering about that. I'm like, is this just.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Yeah, this is just an animation studio or something.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yeah, okay, I'm like that that can.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
That would have been wild gameplay crazy. No, no, no,
they're showing that this is not just like AI generated slop.
That's this is awesome.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
I love it. Should I should I find a developer
and like pull them on the show and be like,
explain yourself. Hey, artist impact guys, if you're watching the
show right now, please come on to the show and
explain what that was all about. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Oh no, I know exactly what it was. I mean,
they're just showcasing how they know they actually are. It's
so cool. It's worth showing because it's so fluid. I
think a lot of people would probably have assumed otherwise
that this was like just like rendered in three D
and then like animated, you know, at sixty frames or whatever,

(32:57):
rather than actually being hand drawn.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
You know why I'm laughing about that. It's we have
these games like apparently apparently this is huge in Germany
and I didn't know this, but Farm Simulator is huge
in Germany. But whatever reason, So you guys like train Simulator,
Farming simulator you have, you know, like farming games and whatnot. Well,

(33:22):
it's like all these things that people don't want to
do in real life before whatever reason.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
I live in Kansas. I live in Kansas here, guys,
you can get paid to simulate a farm, but it's
like real farm work and uh yeah, actually right, so
we we have like I was laughing though, I'm pretty
sure that.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Like video editing game like video editing simulators want to
regulation video editing.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
But oh man, dude, could you imagine I know that
they have like like YouTube simulator.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
Oh yeah, yeah, that that's that's stupid game.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Yeah, they don't they don't do any editing like simulation.
Could you imagine you pull like four piece of things
and then like it just edits the entire thing. And
most viewers would not understand this, but editing videos is
a pain. It's it's so time consuming and it's.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Just it's the worst. Uh.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Every every YouTuber's dream is to get big enough that
they can hire an editor. Yeah that is that has
not happened to me yet after ten years.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
You know what, maybe we're onto something. Maybe we should
make a game that lets people simulate, uh video editing.
But then the output actual videos that we can then
use and don't pay us for the honor to play
the game to edit videos.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Let's let's let's give them clips of hit Point that
they can turn into YouTube shorts. And like the past,
I think you're onto something, Baku. I think two Birds,
one Stone and Okay.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
We just need to gamify this, so we'll recruit a
couple of Tyler's. I think we got this.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Nailed it alright, right, Well that's pretty pretty dang great. Anyways,
So Artists Impact is coming out on August seventh, and
it's only coming to PC via steams, So that game
really does look good. I gotta look into that game
a little bit more. I like what I saw just now,
me too, that's beautiful.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
You know what else, I'd like seeing a new game
from Astro Shift, because I'm a fan of the stuff
that they had released so far, the creators of Pocket
Mirror and Little Goody two Shoes. And now comes a
brand new title called hell Maiden, which we have also
talked about very briefly because they didn't give a whole

(35:58):
lot of information as well, But that was like a
couple of months ago. You talk about this actually, oh,
it's not a horror game. That's why. Oh okay, Yeah,
this is called hell Made is not a horror game.
Oh okay. This game has described the total project across
a Vampire Survivors across deck building, which in other words,

(36:19):
it means cute girls bullet hell hort Survival deck Builder.
If that's not a mouthful of what this game is.
All the descriptors, I think it's all I need to know.
But let's go check out the trailer.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Yeah, let's take a look at what cute Girl's bullet
hell Horts Survival deck Builder looks like. I like Astro Shift.
They're they're so I love their art.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
They really cast like nineties two thousands, kind of like animey.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Look, man, I do like the pixel art. Yeah, that's
that's at least one thing that I like already more
than Vampire Survivor.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
I think Empire Survivor was never meant to be like
that big. It's just like and I think even the
developer didn't think that it was. It was just some
some game that he just put together.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
And then sure it.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
Turned to like a absolute sensation because of the gameplay. Right, Yeah,
it's like Tetris in it in a way. It's like
he accidentally created something that no one had done before. Yeah,
just that's the cool part, not anything else. All the assets,
as a matter of fact, think from that game was
just like from like a package, Like you didn't even

(37:32):
make the the assets. Yeah, he just bought them, He
just put them in. Yeah yeah, but this is different.
They put deck Building in there somehow, so I'm guessing
that's the ropelike sort of uh thing where your your
skill tree and skill set in again will say tournament

(37:56):
by the deck.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
I will say, despite the fact that none of those
strings of adjectives made me at all interested in this game,
seeing the game artwork has been like, oh yeah, maybe
I would play this just.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
If I try, right, Like I can't it a shame, yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Maybe, I mean because nothing about deck Builder or bullet
Hell or Vampire Survival, like like none of those things.
But now seeing like the artwork, I'm like, pretty I
could I can play the heck out of that maybe
for a second or two.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
And of Astro should. They are so good and they
make interesting games, like they've proven themselves with the other
two games so far. But they make very interesting games.
They mean, they take existing concepts and they at their
own twists and somehow it just works.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Like they Yeah, you.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Can feel that they've really given thoughts into making a
thing and not just like chasing a fad.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
If that I mean, I think you heard it in
my voice already when I was when I was describing
or when you were describing the deck Builder, Uh, Empire
Survival like all that. I'm like, well, I think that's
all I need to know. Like I'm checked out. I
watched the trailer. I'm like, man, I kind of like
that though.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
I see. This is why whenever like a developer that
we're talking to and they're like, hey, we're making a
new game, and the first thing I tell them is cool,
do you have a video? And they if they say no,
then I said, well, we would love to talk about
your game, but you have to have a video.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
Why.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
Because of this it's a visual medium.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
Yeah, I mean our our podcast, I mean audio listeners.
We very much appreciate you. But I mean I feel
like a lot of the ability to talk about these
new games happens to be a visual It's informed. You
can you can see how the gameplay is, you can
see what the graphics look like, which helps a lot

(39:51):
in this case, even though the gameplay does not appeal
to me whatsoever, despite all that you're like, it's a
it is very much a visual thing. And and I think
that humans are visual creatures. And if you want to
give you a little excited about stuff, don't don't start
like trying to feed them teasers about stuff until you

(40:13):
have something you can show. I don't ye.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
Show but not tell what it's telling video show first
and then you can tell.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
But but you gotta have you gotta.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Have show, have show.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Yeah, okay, speaking of showing things, sir.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Well did you did you mention anything like that?

Speaker 3 (40:34):
No? I I had forgotten about that. We're so excited
about the artwork. There is no release date as of yet.
They tend to take the time to really posh the game,
so you know they'll they'll let us know when they're ready.
It is currently being developed only for PC at the time,
so we'll keep you guys up to date if anything

(40:56):
comes up.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Okay, So moving along then to my topic here is
that Belcoma has actually just dropped a new trailer for
their upcoming crossover remaster, East Versus Trails in the Sky
Alternative saga with get this actual gameplay. I know it's

(41:19):
going to feature HD and for K graphics in sixty
frames per second, couch and online multiplayer.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Second, no more complaints from people on.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
Couch couch co op or well multiplayer, couch and online multiplayer,
English voice acting, and the PC centric support like mouse
and keyboards.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Yeah, we got.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
We got all the stuff here to check out. So
let's let's check it out. Yeah, let's let's have them
show so I can stop telling.

Speaker 3 (41:53):
Okay, so you know, to all the people who said,
like the fps don't matter, like this is a action game.
So I'm an actually, fashion game matters, especially in a
fighting game, not so much this action game. Yes, every
frame matters this one. You just made a bad choice

(42:18):
due all these dogey some cool memories just looking at this,
and so we're seeing like the Chester and low Lowie uh.

Speaker 2 (42:36):
Louva lou Way. We're seeing the two of them together. Yeah,
I know, it's it's wild, but always fighting Joshua what yep,
it's because they hate each other because it doesn't even

(42:57):
remember what he was doing. Adel was but oh did
you notice that Lloyd was in there? Lloyd Bannings made
an appearance there. You don't know who Lloyd is though,
do you?

Speaker 3 (43:07):
Yes? I do, well, I know who he is.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Wait a second, that was the voice of Steve Bloom
in his domain.

Speaker 3 (43:19):
Now, I mean what's that about?

Speaker 2 (43:22):
They're showcasing the the voice actors.

Speaker 3 (43:25):
Now, No, I mean the little like rat thing.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Oh don't you know?

Speaker 3 (43:29):
You like? What is that?

Speaker 2 (43:33):
Do you not know?

Speaker 3 (43:34):
You don't know who that thing?

Speaker 2 (43:35):
Weird mascot thing is?

Speaker 3 (43:36):
This? Is this that thing from Trails that I have
to fight? Like?

Speaker 2 (43:41):
How do you know?

Speaker 3 (43:43):
Remember?

Speaker 1 (43:43):
Man?

Speaker 2 (43:44):
My gosh, I cannot shame this man of I.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
Never claim to be a Falcon fan, so you can't
even be like he's a fig fan. Actually no, I lie,
I am, and I am an East fan, I know. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
And why it's gonna be really embarrassing you find out
that it's an East character, is it? I don't know,
I'm making it up. I have no idea. Wow, get
so gas lit right now?

Speaker 3 (44:12):
I got them roasted?

Speaker 2 (44:16):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (44:17):
So so yeah.

Speaker 2 (44:19):
That looks pretty cool. So it's slated for summer of
twenty twenty five for PlayStation four, PlayStation five, the Nintenda Switch,
and PCVA Steam and as a fun April fool's joke.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
No, sorry, before you go on meeting God. That's just
something that I thought of.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
It's not oh okay, yeah, maybe you should say it
then because I don't know you.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
That's just a note that I added. So I had
a really fun thought when I was writing this. I
was like, you know, what would be a great April
fool's joke for Foulcom is if they announced that from
now on, Trail series would be a full action game,
like a full action RPG like Ease, and then from

(45:03):
now on East would be a turn based title like
that would be hilarious as a as a switcheroo buddy, yeah,
just switch to two, yeah, like showing showing Ato doing
like a turn based battle with like you know what parties.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
I would I would. I would allow for them to
swap for one game. You have one chance and then.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
You must switch back. I would to see it.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
I would play a turn based East title, I think, and.

Speaker 3 (45:34):
I would play a turn based East title, Yes, I mean.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
I kind of have a little bit played a turn
an action based uh falcom up Trails title.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
And that's what makes it believable, right, because it's like
it's already a little bit of action, but now it's
going to.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Be all action. Have you played the time? I know,
have you played? N I have not Boundless Trails. Uh,
you might enjoy it because it's it's an action RPG.

Speaker 3 (45:57):
It's kind of like East, isn't it in terms of
place there I think Solda Ones, Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
I mean not bump style mechanics. It's you know, PSPRP yeah, yeaheah,
So you might enjoy that. I don't know. I thought
it was a lot of fun. You should check out
my first impressions video talking about it if you.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
If you're curious Wing, check out Super Derek RPG at Wing.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
Hey, we have some indus renews to talk about.

Speaker 3 (46:24):
Yeah, just the tiny tiny reminder that the Indie Quest
a showcase of forty upcoming no more than forty upcoming
indie g RPGs, including our friends over at Quartet, uh,
and I think will be.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
Already plus exclusive trailers.

Speaker 3 (46:45):
Exclusive trailers, yes, exclusive.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
Yeah, that's that's like the premier rather. Yeah, they're premiering
on the indye Quest showcase.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
Yea. So even if you see a trailer from a
game that you already know about the trail, what are
you about to see that's brand new. It's gonna give
you like new information. That's why we're excited. You're not
just seeing like, oh some things were raised of people
know these all new stuff. So that's happening in May
twenty ninth, which is this coming Thursday. Yeah, at seven

(47:19):
pm Eastern time. So expect a longer show next week
for Hitpoint. I mean, we know that today's show is
pretty short, but next week it might be a little
longer because of this. Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
So we have some new, well some new some comments
from last week, this week, Today's Sunday, last week. Yeah,
we have some comments from last week that we can
actually talk.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
About on Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
I know, it's just been like a couple of days.
Somehow we still had stuff worth talking about though. I'm
pretty excited. So yeah, let's I'll start off with this
one here from freddy Ken, who says I watched the
current Pokemon anime and and I enjoy it a lot.
I will probably also play the Pokemon Legends z A games.

(48:05):
I played the Pokemon games when I was a child,
and nostalgia is hell of a drug, a hell of
a drug, so I would probably count as a Pokemon fan.
But I will also say that the game looks really bad.
But I also have come to peace with that. I
think the franchise just got a bit too big for

(48:27):
its own good and game Freak is just not up
to the task. I arrived at this last stage of
grief acceptance. I have no hope.

Speaker 3 (48:38):
Thank you, Freddy. I was laughing a little too hard
when I got to that part.

Speaker 2 (48:44):
Yeah, I it's it's a very I think this is
you know.

Speaker 3 (48:50):
That sums it up pretty well. Actually, like that you
have achieved it.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
There we are the final stage of grief for Pokemon exactly.

Speaker 3 (48:59):
At least fall like the adult fans, and yes, like kids,
kids are still kids like these all fresh to them.
They have nothing to compare against. They're not looking at
like a trend. Like we've been there from basically the beginning.
We've seen all the games that they put out. We
you know, we have a frame of reference.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
Do you suppose that like if Iwata was still alive,
he'd still be there fixing their code today, Because like
I'm making a joke, I'm making a little bit of
a joke. But it's true that as far back as
the beginning, when this was like developed by Creatures Inc.
Before they became the Pokemon Company, they had problems in

(49:40):
development and and they were sorted out in large part
by Sata, who would eventually go on to become the
president of Nintendo mm hm.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
And I feel like I.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Feel like it's almost as if they never hire a
different programmer despite the obvious need over the years. There
was there was a while where or maybe Iwata was
not fixing the code behind the scenes for like game
Boy Advance, there was a sweet spot in time.

Speaker 3 (50:16):
Well, he was fixing something exactly. I'm sure maybe it
might not be fixed in the code. He might be
fixing the people who's fixing the code.

Speaker 2 (50:25):
Maybe so like some some sort of project management, uh
is not being managed?

Speaker 3 (50:32):
Oh something is something is not going right in the
Pokemon Company or game Freak rather, who knows.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
But I think that there are some unique challenges that
Pokemon as a game development studio faces, and that is
like there's so much logic and so many moves and
so many creatures to like take into account. That is
definitely unique. Ishe to Pokemon? But they've definitely got the

(51:05):
funding to develop something way better than they have.

Speaker 3 (51:09):
Oh yeah, they have the money to do it, like
like if anyone has the money, they have the money
to do it. And by day, I mean like the
Pokemon Company not necessary game free. How much the Pokemon
Company gives game free to do things. That's the whole
different you know thing. Yeah, right, I will say this though,

(51:31):
since we're talking about Pokemon. One thing that I did
find very interesting that I have not really seen in
any other kind of medium is that did you know
that there are two separate communities of competitive Pokemon? What?

Speaker 2 (51:48):
No, I didn't, So okay, so what do you mean exactly?

Speaker 3 (51:52):
Okay, So there is there are two different kinds of
Pokemon battles. There are the singles and then there are
the doubles. Triples never really caught on sure, so the
doubles are basically maintained by officially Pokemon Company. Okay, So

(52:13):
when when you whenever you hear VGC, that's like a
two on two.

Speaker 2 (52:17):
Always right, Okay, is this battles or is this oh.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
No, the the actual Pokemon like game battle like in
game yeah, okay, okay, And then there's a smogan. Smogan
is always one v one uh, and the strategies that
you would use in the one v one versus a
two B two is completely different. There are different rulesets,
different organization, uh, different play style altogether, because a Pokemon

(52:46):
that could be good on a two on two might
be absolute garbage and one and because like.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
Right, because sometimes you have like something someone who's just
going a buff or d buff, right, and then I
mean and that would be just a losing Pokemon if
it can't do some DPS, right.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
So I just think it's a very interesting situation that
like Pokemon doesn't like handle both. They allow smogan to
just kind of happen because it serves their purpose to like,
you know, further the game along, but they do manage
the two on two so it's like it's just a

(53:25):
weird situation. So it just works.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
So we're not talking about card battles though, we're talking
about in.

Speaker 3 (53:31):
Game yeah, in game competition, like they have annual competitions
where really people actually yes, did you not know this? No?
Oh no, people people train Pokemon and they in the
bol strategies. Yeah, and they fight on like international battles
like in person competitions.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Huh. Yeah, weird. That's that's strange to me because I
figured that the switch was hacked so wide open that
there's literally no point to training a Pokemon at this
point because you could just hexit it.

Speaker 3 (54:06):
Well, well, there are certain limits. There's certain ways that
they can detect whether or not a Pokemon is legitimate.
For example, like certain mooveseets that cannot exist.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Oh yeah, I mean as long as you're validated.

Speaker 3 (54:18):
But I'm sure, Oh well, I mean they don't actually,
So the the hard part is not like the training part.
The hard part is coming up a strategy because you don't.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
The hard part. The hard part is getting all of
your shinies.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
Yeah, well because because what so you go in with
six Pokemon, right, and you can only have those six
through the entire competition. You can't change anything.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Can you heal? So I mean you can, but be
funnier if you couldn't.

Speaker 3 (54:46):
Sorry, you know you could heal, but like you know, so,
so basically you have to you have to put together
six Pokemon that can take on any team that you
know what other people might have. I think that if
your part.

Speaker 2 (54:57):
If I think if a Pokemon faints in the middle,
you have to let it go. Just the competition.

Speaker 3 (55:03):
Yes, luck, the competition, buddy.

Speaker 2 (55:05):
Could you imagine change? Suddenly there's nothing but storre relaxes
with leftovers.

Speaker 3 (55:14):
They're all tanks forever, all right, I got the next.
Speaking of Pokemon, we have a comment from sarcost Sarcastic Wizard.
Sarcastic Wizard, Oh sorry, thank you, Sarcastic Wizard twenty two
to four, who says, Pokemon fan here, but I'll let
you live since you're right about the games. The potential

(55:37):
is so big, yet what they do with it is
so underwhelming and embarrassing for such a large franchise. I
absolutely agree. There's so much possibility that they could be
doing so many fun things they could be doing. But
I will stand by the fact that this game is

(55:57):
still as much as a bunch of adults would not
want to hear me say, this is targeted and designed
for kids. Now, if you want to enjoy the game
as an adult, that's fine, because it's for all ages
and you are part of all ages. But truly, they
are designed for kids. Now. There is a solution to

(56:18):
that in which we've talked about in the past, and
that is having basically like two separate branches of.

Speaker 2 (56:26):
The Legends Pokemon. Yeah, just yeah, I give the Legends
to the adults older yeah, yeah, that's what I think
they should do.

Speaker 3 (56:33):
That would be the simple solution. Keep the regular Pokemon
like you know, as the standard, and then just maybe
just market that towards the kids, and then keep the
Legend as something that the grown ups will be playing
with more evolved, you know, gay mechanics that don't necessarily
conform to the traditional like battles, right, and sure, whatever

(56:55):
you can glean from that game, you can always bring
it back to the main franchise. Right, So it's going
to be a learning an experimentation ground kind of a
stunt works. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Treat treat the Legend
series like experimentation with the older audience, see how they
react and whatever good stuff. You can bring it back
to the main series like that would be a good strategy, right,

(57:15):
But I don't think they're doing that, so we'll see.

Speaker 2 (57:18):
Well, we'll see, all right. Next one we got is
from Nero Mysteria, who says, Derek, you haven't uploaded a
video to your Super Derek RPG's channel for over a month.
May I ask if everything is okay? The channel has
not been abandoned or anything, right, I miss watching your videos, Derek?

Speaker 3 (57:36):
Are you okay?

Speaker 2 (57:37):
I'm fine. Okay, yeah, I'm fine talk about it. But
Channel's channel is not abandoned. I'm just just waiting to
make something that I care about. Uh, you know, That's
that's mostly it right now. There's just been a lack
of things that I really need to talk about. I
would be working on a review right now, but I
haven't resumed streaming yet. Just kind of been enjoying some

(58:00):
some time with my family, So I wish I could
say that I'm like, oh, I'm working on something just
around the corner. Actually, I am working on a couple
of things around the corner, but they're not videos. I'll
make sure to show you what they are soon, but otherwise, yeah,
I'm just kind of narrow, just kind of relaxing a

(58:21):
little right now, enjoying my life and trying to just
sort of get out of the grind headset so that
I can so that I can make something that I
care about. I think that's really mostly it. You know,
I think that maybe a little bit of part of
me it was like really bummed that I missed out

(58:42):
so hard on Clare Obscure Expedition thirty three's launch. I mean,
like for real, because I was this close. I had
a review copy and everything, but I just couldn't get
it to work, and I'm so bummed and then it
blew the hell up and I'm like, well, well me then,
so I'm just like, you know what, I'm just gonna

(59:03):
I'm just gonna relax for a little while, take take
some me time, and uh and come back when I
have something that I really want to contribute out there
instead of just you know, yaking for the sake of
my own yaking, and in the meantime, for the for
the you know, the true fans out there, y'all can
still come and listen to me yak for the sake
of yaking tobacco here on Hip Point every single Sunday

(59:26):
at seven pm Central eight pm Eastern time.

Speaker 3 (59:30):
How your friends about us. We're trying to hit a
thousand so that Derek can stream Silent Hill two. Come on,
Oh my god, well only eighty nine steps away. Eighty nine?

Speaker 2 (59:42):
Are you going to be the one thousandth?

Speaker 3 (59:45):
Maybe if you if you be the one thousandth, they
might if they if they uh, what's the word, if
they procrastinate long enough, if you all hold off, I
know they're all waiting to be the one thousandth subscriber.

Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
I know it.

Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
You may be all waiting to be the one thousand.

Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
That's guys, let me tell you, let me tell you. Everybody,
right here, right now, you are the one thousandth subscriber
in my heart, all of you, which is which is
where it matters most.

Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
You know, Rather than being the one thousand, you should
think about being the first one thousand, which is very Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
I got to get under in the three digits club.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
That's right, while we're still affordable, that's right.

Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
You want to take this next one? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
Sure, Okay. The last one that we've got is from
Martino Magic, who said someone currently playing the hundred line
Last Defense Academy, I can say it's an okay game.
It has some serious flaws or rather priorities could turn

(01:00:59):
some people off. Uh huh uh. The board game should
be used lately. Actual gameplays the same thing over and
over full long time. There are may be two or
three battle maps, one hud map being the school uh
and an extremely crappy made ropelike board game type map

(01:01:19):
thing that's mostly used to farm resources. Uh. That's where
I cut off the comment. But the second part of
comment praises, so it's kind of like, yeah, so there
are definitely like good things. It was just like, I
don't want.

Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
To it's gonna go on a little too long.

Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Okay, Well no, it's just so that people can go
and read his insightful review because I think it's pretty good. Yeah. Well,
just to give you a little taste of this review
here from you Magic and going back to your comments
section for Relix Video last week.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
You can't just leave it like that, buddy, like, here's
all the worst things about the game, read about the
good stuff after the full like, and then he goes
on to like redeem the whole thing until you're like, why,
it's like the greatest RPG of all time. But but meanwhile,
all you hear is like, oh, there's only three maps
and the game looks like I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
I'll read I'll read the rest.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
But despite that, it's still fun. Most of the characters
are interesting, other than the main guy, which is almost
given for anime long, the story is mostly good, also
with some serious mysteries. This this developer is known for.
What's most surprising is how fun the story Tactico battles are,
which not very deep Mechanically, every fight has a boss

(01:02:37):
fight with his own gimmick, which keeps things fresh. While
not as deep story wise, the game reminds me of
the Tattoo game. What you are getting is a visual
novel that extremely lightly dabbles into gameplay. But those interested
in that kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
That that's a nice moti pus.

Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
That does not justify the review.

Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
Now it does, in fact, actually I feel like that's
that's I was like, you can't just like frontload all
then be like, now follow the link in order to
read the good things, because that's not how people are.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
Like. That's I still want to follow the link to
read the bad stuff, right right. You know what, Martino Magic,
Please next time you write the review, start with the
good stuff so I can stop you and then write
all the bad stuff after that. And that's like you
would go back to our previous video.

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Man, well, I appreciate you doing that there back much appreciated.

Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
No, I'm actually Martino for writing that insightful review. I
still don't really know who I mean. I had a
little conversation with them in there. Maybe you should go
read that from the last video, but I still don't
in my mind don't really know who this hooks for. Yeah,
well he's still Okay. Here's the thing. I say that

(01:03:57):
from like a business standpoint, right, because they know that
they are they know they're struggling to be Yeah, they're
going to struggle financially, and they choose to make a
game that is the intersect of two niches. So it's
not going to please people from the dunka no By
camp completely, but it's also not going to please people
who are in the tactical RPG niche completely. So it's

(01:04:22):
kind of like straddling between two things that may or
may not work. So they're taking a huge risk or
putting something like this together.

Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
Well, yeah, let me tell you something. Maybe I can
shed a little light on this. I don't know, but
I can take a stab at it. Yeah. Every once
in a while, you make things because you know that
there's going to be an audience for it. Sometimes you
make things because you know it's what your core wants,
and sometimes you just make things because it's what you

(01:04:51):
want to make. Yeah, And for an artist, for an
indie company, like a small company, that's like kind of
just striking out on their own, and maybe they're struggling
maybe maybe they're making the games that they need to
make because it could be one of their last right
and and maybe that's what's getting them across the finish line,

(01:05:14):
is knowing that that they're at least enjoying what they're
making if if nobody else does. And that's kind of pretty,
that's kind of beautiful, right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:26):
Imagine if there's a company the struggling financially and it's
their absolute last game and they call it the final
fantasy that is.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Old Livestail. Actually that's Old wives Tail. Really, yeah, that's
that's made up such.

Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
A beautiful story. But it's not true. No, really, they
were not on the brink of bankruptcy. They would totally
make another game after that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
They probably weren't doing well. But I don't think think
it was intended to be a swan song or a
goodbye or whatever, like, uh, yeah, that that turns out
that's not actually a thing.

Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
I'm so upset now, even more upset now, Squaresoft, How
dare you lie to me all these years? Whomever made
that story up?

Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
Yeah, who knows? I mean the Internet. It was one
of those things that kind of started in the Middle days.
I was I was gonna say early days, but it's
not that early days of the Internet. It was around
long enough before YouTube even started that like GameTrailers dot
Com I think even mentioned it in their Final Fantasy

(01:06:38):
Retrospective series, which is one of the series that inspired
my channel, in fact, my whole, my whole shtick. If
you're not familiar, go check out the game Trailers YouTube
channel's Final Fantasy Retrospective and I think you might enjoy
what you find there. But but yeah, that that was

(01:07:00):
that was like a big inspiration for my channel back
in the day. It's like, I want more of that stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
So wow, that just like triggered like a little like
neuron in your brain to be like, yeah, that's why
I started this channel kind of yeah, totally do more
of these things.

Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
That's called the game collection, and they take a long time.

Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
New video take a long time to do. So they do.

Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
Yeah, well that's all right. They are they are. I
will say they also perform some of the worst on
my channel. But the reason I make them is because
sometimes an artist just has to make the things that
they care about and want to make, even if it's
the last thing that they make. So that's why that's
why I'm like, you know, uh, why maybe so, maybe

(01:07:54):
maybe not. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. But
if I had one more video I knew I could make,
it probably wouldn't be an episode of Oh gosh, I
don't know the.

Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
Top five games you should play right now.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Yeah, it probably wouldn't be a Top ten, probably wouldn't be
a how to RPG History episode. I mean those are fun,
but also nobody watches them, so I never made it anymore.
It's because it's not one of those things that I
made because I was like, I mean, I wanted to
make it, but it didn't. It didn't fulfill me in
the same way that making episodes of the game collection does.

Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
Right, So yeah, anyways, Yeah, that's that's the thing about
content creation, man, it is it is as much as
a creative process as it is a fulfilling.

Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
You know kind of thing. Yeah, exactly, all right, guys, Well,
thank you so much for joining us today. If you
enjoyed today's show, won't give it a thumbs up and
go subscribe or become one of those first one thousand subscribers.
You could be here on the ground floor and then
when this thing really takes off, well, we'll all be surprised.

Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
Then we can hire an editor.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Oh my gosh, could you imagine yeah, can you imagine
us hiring or Okay, guys, that's that's gonna be the
sub goal or the even So remember at the end
of the last episode, I was talking about that Patreon thing,
like what would I do with that money? Like I
would probably get an editor to make us some YouTube
shorts so that the channel could actually grow or something.

Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
That'd be all right, It would be nice if people
know we exist.

Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
That could be nice, aside from just the indie developers
who like coming on here and hanging out with us,
all right, yeah, well yeah, go give us a good
positive review somewhere too.

Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
That always really really does help. And uh, oh yeah,
call us leave us a voicemail. Did we tell people
but the voicemail call.

Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Us, leave us a voicemail, wish us happy birthday and
call your mother as well. Uh. And uh, let's see
what else what else chores that we should assign.

Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
While our number a voicemail number?

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Oh the voicemail number. Oh yeah, you can call us
uh on our voice fail voicemail number. Uh, it is
seven eight, five, two three six. Nope. Nope, that's not it.
That's seventy five seven eight nine, nope. Hang on, yep,
let me let me pull.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
This up real quick. Seven eight five seven three eight
oh five yep.

Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
There's so many numbers, and I'm just like, oh yeah,
I was. I was this close to giving out my
cell phone number.

Speaker 3 (01:10:28):
I hate. I hate that set up the number, and
I'm like staring at it. I'm like, Derek, exist, is
it not docketary? Is it? Uh? Because I usually because
I usually read it off.

Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
Of let's see where do I?

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
I usually read it right off here seven eight five
three three seven thirty eighth five Yeah, and uh yeah.
This is a long train wreck of an outro.
