Speaker 3 (01:08):
Hey, everybody, Welcome back to hit Point, to the JRPG
News Show, The Anime News Show, The Niche News Show,
a show where Baku and I we'll be talking about
everything and anything that catches our interest.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
And or I are.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
We stream live every single Sunday at seven pm Central
eight pm Eastern Time. We'll be previewing some trailers, talking
about some industry news, responding to super chats at the
end of the show, and generally just having a good
old time. Buddy, Baku, how are you doing today, Having.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
A good time, having a good time.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Oh, don't stop me now, man, because okay, hang on,
don't get us copyright striped. Okay, Well, I mean this
is twenty twenty five. We're starting off.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Fresh and I feel I feel so refreshed. Yeah, we
had a much needed rest and now we're back.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Dude, guys. Ah, man, it has been a slow start
to twenty twenty five as far as various RPG newses go.
But man, we do have some things that have accumulated.
Some housekeeping. Speaking of housekeeping, you want to see something cool.
Oh my godness, I got this big old fireplace behind me.
(02:21):
I think we talked about this. I don't know if
I talked about this last time during hit point, but
this was a sparkle in the twinkle of my eye,
you know, just a few short weeks ago. But man,
how did this get here? I don't even know. I'm
going to be making a video all about that on
(02:42):
the Super Dark RPG's YouTube channel, So make sure you're
subscribed so you don't miss that. Of course, I'm sure
most of you guys already are.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
But man, I.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Got so much to talk about but to the show.
Before the show, Baku and I were just talking about, well,
everything that he's been up to. I've been a little
tight lipped, a little a little bit tight lipped. So
I can tell you all about all about what I've
been up to, guys, But Baku, before I do, before
(03:15):
I just come and deer the stream and just get
super chatty, how about you tell me a little bit
about what you've been up to? Man?
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Oh boy? Uh? So, as everyone know, i had gone
off to subeast Asia for three weeks and I'm still coughing,
still got the kennel cough from it. Yeah, oh yeah, okay,
So in a nutshell, I went down to Vietnam, and Thailand.
(03:45):
I visited seven different cities. I had a lot of
fun and I got these like mission rated like food.
Not that I trust Michelin, you know as like be
all end all, but you know the quality is there
and they are like less than five dollars a meal, right,
(04:07):
and it's like unbelievable inexpensive. I really want to stress
that it's inexpensive, not cheap, like all the ingredients that
they're all to taste, all the flavors all there. It's
just it is inexpensive, right, Like you got a really
strong dollar, you gotta go spend it somewhere else, right.
So it's just incredible food, great hospitality. Lots of stories
(04:30):
I can tell you through these three weeks. I went
and climbed. I went on a hike, multiple hikes actually
where I felt like I was going to die. Oh
and I feel like actually or like well figuratively yeah,
but okay, it just tells me how out of shape
(04:52):
I am. And it's kind of a coff of help
is my body saying like, look as I do you
make some changes now or you know that's it. You're
You're just gonna and your your fitness is not going
to get any better from this point on, like if
you don't do something about it, like this is fix itself. Right, So.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Except for that one.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
As part of my New year resolution now to really
really get to working out. And I mean, I'm not
going to get like Swaller anything. I'm not going to
like a marketplier, you know, but I want to at
least be able to go on a similar hike and
not want to die. But yeah, but it was also
(05:36):
kind of hot. Uh so, I mean I can make
a little excuses. Yeah, it's just a little like I
was looking at the map of the world, and I
was looking at because I went to Ho Chi Min City,
which is the largest city in Vietnam salt southern part
of Vietnam, and then I looked at Bangkok, which is
their capital also the most prosperous city, also in the
(05:57):
southern part of Thailand, respectively. And you look at the
latitude line right, and you look at it against the
equator and against like the rest of the world other
countries around it. It's basically like southern India heat. Even
if it's the suburb, it's really hot and.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
It's it's a wet heat though, you know, so it's.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
It doesn't. I'm used to the dry, cold weather of
like East Coast, right, so when you throw me there,
I was I was just dying. And also the pollution
is horrendous, Like I didn't know this, but some of
the cities I've gone to are like top thirty worst
pollution city, like on average.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Oh okay, so maybe that's also why you're coughing. You're just
dealing with smokers lung after like a couple of weeks,
a bunch of things, a bunch of things. I'm sure
my I'm coughing because my lungs like, okay, this you
got to push the stuff out.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
It's like buried inside you know, uh you know, well
what is it called the then let the sludge out?
Yeah yeah, yeah, you get to get the stuff out.
So yeah. So but also one of our TravelMate actually
confirm got bronchitis. So that's where my suspicion comes from.
Like I had like a pretty bad fever for like
(07:19):
two days. Uh it was, it was bad. But also
you know, like you travel to.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Southeast Asia, you can't you pretty much expect that you
will get six at some point, I know, especially for
three weeks almost a month I mean, I don't know
if that's a misguided assumption or not, but I kind
of did assume that. But yeah, I mean just different
different germs that you're not used to fighting off, you know, right, right,
So it's not that they're like, you know, dirty or something.
(07:44):
It's just when you travel, you just have a higher
chance of getting sick from sure, And like when you
get a flu shot, you get flu shots for what
they project is going to be active in your area,
not Southeast Asia necessarily.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Well, I mean it offers some defense, but it's not
obviously nothing is uh infallible, right. Oh yeah, it could
have been even worse if I hadn't gotten those vessie
uh yeah, but nonetheless it was it was an interesting experience.
So that was like three weeks and then I've spent
two weeks recovering. I'm still coughing a little bit when
(08:20):
I talk for an extended amount of time.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
But I was just telling Derek, like two weeks ago,
I could just I'm just sitting there like not doing anything,
and I'm just coughing NonStop. So compared to two weeks ago,
I'm already feeling much better. Wow, you know, yeah, So yeah, yeah,
so I've been Uh. I did some vlogging, which I
(08:45):
will talk a little bit more about uh later on,
but I will be sharing some footage over on Twitch tomorrow.
I'm not going to do any game streaming just yet.
We're going to show off like what Vietnam and Thailand
looks like over in my channel. We'll talk more stories
(09:05):
over there, but yeah, just seven cities. I've got to
tell you if you've never been to Vietnam, I think
Vietnam is a worthwhile place to visit if you ever
get a chance. It's uh, a lot of culture, a
lot of great food. It's inexpensive, like I mentioned, you know,
(09:26):
it's just a lot of nice luxury and the city's
like actually very developed, Like I'm very surprised of how developed,
Like Hoa Chuman City is a lot of good stuff. Thailand,
I'm kind of half and half over because there's been
a lot of human trafficking incidents down in Thailand. I
(09:48):
don't know if you've heard about that, Derek, Like this
is like international news, but yeah, people were like kidnapped
from Thailand. They will take they're taken to like mem
r And and into Cambodia, where they work in these
like scam call centers, and right, it's this huge thing
(10:11):
like BBC reports it like you know, it's yeah, it's
it's this huge thing. So thankfully our entire group, uh
you know, it's it's completely safe. We haven't gotten into
any like sketchy situations. Uh. Some other folks weren't as lucky.
But that makes me feel like so Thailand is more
(10:31):
expensive and less save and so I don't know how
I feel about going back. Chung Ma was fun, but
I can talk more about that some of the time.
I also get some deets. I did get stuck in
Istanbul for eleven hours, not Constantinople. Not Constantinople. Yeah, Istanbul,
which is the capital of Turkey. For those who are
(10:53):
who are not.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Aware, and for those who aren't aware, Istanbul was one's
constant noble. But now it's Istanbul, not con Stantinople. Yeah,
been a long time gone since Constantinople. Constant works. That's
nobody's business.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
But the Turks. And it was the Byzantine Empire some
time ago.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
That was the Ottoman Empire.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Byzantine it was it was it was the Byzantine and
then the Ottoman and then okay, yeah, Byzantine was like
the Roman days, Eastern Roman capital or something. Uh but anyways, yeah,
so that's that whole thing. The food was really expensive,
and the people at the airport that I was stuck
(11:39):
in wasn't so nice. Like it's just like I don't know,
like it doesn't make me want to go back, Like
I'm sure the people outside the airport might be better,
but I the only point of comparison right now for
me is just like just the way that I was
kind of treated or or not treated in there. It
was it was bad. Long story is short. By am,
(12:03):
they couldn't find me in the on the ticket in
the system, they couldn't find my name. They're like, hey,
we see that the seat is booked through Thai Airway
because they they're in this like have you ever heard
of this? Like what is it? What is Star Alliance?
(12:24):
You ever heard the Star Alliance? Things like Ana All,
nipponant Airway, United Airline and like some other like major airline.
They had this like the Star Lions right where basically
if you know, say, for example, Japan doesn't have any
domestic flight, but you're flying in from Japan, well the
connecting flight would be through United and all you have
(12:45):
to do is book through an A and they have
this alliance thing where they'll connect you to United. It
will be like easy PC. Right, you don't have to
then go to United to buy connecting flight. Right, That's
how it's supposed to be work. So I was getting
a return flight from Thailand to back home in DC
and they're like, well, well we'll connect you through Turkey
(13:08):
through a Turkish airline and we're in the Star Lions.
So it was like, hey, we're all these partnerships and
everything is streamline. I'm like, okay, cool. It was not streamlined.
I got to Istanbul, I'm like, hey, I'm here to
check in for my flight home and they're like, we
don't find you in the system. And I'm like, okay,
(13:28):
well here's.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Check under doctor Bakusan JRPG.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
That's what I checked. That's okay, checked now. And I
asked them and I'm like, hey, here's.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
My Don't you know who I am? Don't you know
who I am?
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Sah? I demand respect. No. Not only was I not
getting the minimal amount of respect that you respect from
like customer service, I was being berated.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
Oh that's antagonizing.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
You for it. Oh yeah, They're like, well, what do
you want me to do about it? Like literally the
guy looked at me when I had like Thai Airway
on the outer line calling for roaming by the way,
and it was super expensive, and I'm like, hey, listen,
I've got Thai Airway on the outer line. Can you guys,
can you talk to them and like figure out what's
(14:20):
going on? Because here's Turkish Airway, here's Thai Airway. You
guys have this alliance. I don't know what's going on?
Is something I don't work there? Like, can you guys
please like figure it out. I've got them on the phone. Yeah,
Like I've done my part. I get to all my information.
Can you please talk to them? The guy looked at me,
squaring his face, like what do you want me to
do about it? Like I didn't book this ticket? You did?
(14:43):
You figure it out? And I'm like what, Like how
am I the person who is about to miss my
flight home more calm as the customer than you who
is working for the airline that's like screwing up my
flight home? Like how am I more calm? So you know,
(15:04):
I just didn't want to deal with the guy because
I'm like, you're wasting my time and you're not helpful.
I turned my attention to the lady next to him,
and she was helpful, but just it was not the
only instance of me seeing them like outwy berating customers.
I know, like we can be rude in the US,
but I've never seen them just like straight up like
(15:24):
yell at the customer. I mean, so I've heard, you know,
I've heard that the United States is you know, I mean, sure,
we can be rude, but generally, I feel like the
vibe I get when I read a lot is the
like Internationally, we're seen as being overly friendly with people,
you know, outside of outside of the United States.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Which is interesting.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, and it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
But then but then maybe maybe the people who do
international travel are just generally happier people. I don't know
one way or the other.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Anyways, that was the worst experience I've ever had in traveling,
and I don't think I ever want to go back.
But yeah, we can talk more about it later. But
I'm also fit starting my last semester in school, so
I'm almost done. Things are just looking up, man, and
now we're starting hit point again. You know, I've got
(16:16):
I've got so much. I'm so hyped for this year.
It's gonna be such an awesome year.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yeah, we're looking over our twenty twenty five list of
topics already, right, anything anything standing out as being particularly
like you.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Know, I mean, I mean, can we can we tell
them like we're okay without saying who it would be.
We're already getting like a new set of like interviews coming,
so more indie devs that we'll be interviewing. Oh, I'm
going to Macfest this weekend, so actually this coming weekend,
(16:53):
so I will be doing live interviews over there, which
means that we won't have hit Point next Sunday because
I will be in Macpest. But you know, like all
kinds of cool stuff that we'll be doing, yeah, which
try new things with do new things. So uh oh man,
looking forward to a whole new ye of you guys.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
It's gonna be so nice.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
All right, So me, sir, what about you? What's going
on with me? Oh? Man? Uh, you know, not much?
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I got him? No, no, no, uh so you're killing
me literally, I think that when last we left off
last time on hit Point, Super Derek was talking about
some some things that he had recently discovered about himself
perhaps having ADHD. I think I did talk about that.
I know, I definitely talked about it with you, Batu.
(17:47):
But anyways, uh yeah, since then, boy, have there been
a few changes for the better, one of which is
just having the energy and the focus to spend by
entire uh like two weeks away from work because I
happen to work for a college, so like it's it's
between semesters and or or it's complicated not a college,
(18:08):
but I work with colleges. So anyways, I had about
two weeks of just NonStop time to dedicate to, uh
to doing little cool things like this. Oh my gosh,
I got this big old this. Oh my gosh, can
I show this off? Yes I can't. Yah, yeah, check
this out? Check this out, all right? If I do.
Oh man, oh my gosh, look at this.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Oh wow, look at that.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I know I still need to put actual like pictures
in these picture frames that I that I also worked on,
but oh man.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
That is slightly creepy that there are no pictures.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
I know, I know, but like, look at the look
at the flame, look at the flame effect. Oh man,
I'm so happy with the way that that came out.
I put so much good. I put so much effort
into like this whole studio, like over here in this quarner,
this used to be. This used to be. Oh here,
I could I could do this thing, can't I if
I hit this button? Yeah, okay, there we go. So
(19:09):
check this out. So I this all used to be
where a shelf of video games were. And then back
there like this whole that whole window that was covered
by a shelf of video games. I had no window there.
So instead I moved all of that. I moved that
shelf all the way over here, and that shelf, I
(19:33):
moved that all the way over there. Oh my god,
behind my my presentation desk. Oh Man, Yeah, that was
That was like day one. I'm just like, I'm gonna
rearrange my entire office in a single day. Yeah. And
then and then I painted You can't really see it
very well, but I painted.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Up the here.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
If I zoom in, maybe you could see it more.
I painted up the walls to kind of like old
school plaster and stuff, so like it's it's easier to
see maybe see yeah in different lighting. But uh, anyways, AnyWho,
So I got to do all this I have. I
(20:16):
also recorded a whole lot of it, uh, with like
a whole lot of this was recorded in time laps
and I'm gonna be making a video about it very
soon and uh and it's gonna be it's gonna be awesome.
In the meantime, I've also done a few other videos
on YouTube, very low key stuff Q and DA video
(20:36):
that's gone on for like an hour, just talking about, well,
responding to every single question that I got for that
Q and A session asking, you know, and kind of
responding to some questions in a very brutally honest way
because I really do want to kind of re establish
my connection to the community. Uh and uh and I
(20:57):
feel I felt like kind of just an open discussion
was a good way to kind of kick things off.
And then and then I did a whole other forty
minute video just sitting in front of my fireplace chatting
about what would it take to make a good like
chronal trigger spiritual successor or or something like that, like
any spiritual successor really and that was a lot of fun.
(21:21):
And I'm gonna do more stuff like that. But what
I'm most excited about, and I know that this is
something that I've been talking about here for a while.
I finished Lufia two Rise of the Sinistrels. We're done.
We did it. Oh, I did it on stream. We
got streaming boys, we got back on Twitch. And I
(21:42):
not only finished Lufia to Rise of the Sinistrols after
over eight months, Buddy, I started this back in April.
I started it back in April.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Uh, that's crazy, man.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
We finished it up over over just a few maybe
a week ago, and and I've already written the review,
filmed it, edited it, made a whole new overhaul of
the game collection with all new assets and transitions that
I custom built from scratch, just to be a little
(22:19):
bit extra, because everybody's been waiting on this review for
over eight months, so I figure I better at least
try and make it worthwhile for everybody. Uh, dude, you're
gonna when when you see it, I think you'll be
very very impressed. Yeah, hype responsibly, don't don't overhype this.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Everybody, just give me.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
It's not gonna Yeah. Anyways, it's already in the first
revision of the of the video is done already, and
I'm so feels so good to have it done. I
still have to do a second round of edits and
fixes and stuff. It'll it'll probably be another So I
think that's supportive of the show. People who are subscribed
(23:03):
on Twitch, people who are supporting the super Derek channel,
over on hit Point, on YouTube, the Superderk channel, and
then Patreon supporters, they're gonna be getting early access to
this video. Here in about I think I have tomorrow off. Yeah,
so let's say tomorrow. I'm hoping to have the video
(23:27):
up in early access tomorrow and then and then I
have a plan to not I up to this point,
I have been putting that out for early access for
like a week or so. But then here's the problem
that I run into is when I do, I just
kind of release it and then it doesn't get a
(23:48):
whole lot of views because I've not put out any
videos prior to that for a while, because traditionally I'm
just focusing on that for a while, and then when
you every first video that you put out for after
a short break, YouTube tanks it. Uh So, Instead, my
plan is to start putting out some other videos and
(24:08):
once I've gotten back into the cadens of releasing things
like a few times a week and then YouTube like
puts me back into the swing. Then I'll release the
episode of Lufia two review and then it'll probably get review,
get reviewed, get views, and I'm excited to try to
try to re establish that. So twenty twenty five starting
(24:31):
off super cool.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
I am.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
I'm so happy with the way things are going. And
and hit Point is back. Baby, we we back.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Yeah, We're We're definitely back. So we are so back.
All right, We've got a lot of news to go over. Yeah,
so we are we are.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Yeah, I will say we are at this point, gonna
skip over comments from like five weeks ago whenever last
this episode was, uh, it's it's just uh, you know,
we're gonna We're gonna start fresh with twenty twenty five now.
And if anybody would like to leave us a voicemail,
you can do so at seventy five three three seven
thirty eight oh five numbers on the screen here. You
(25:13):
could also email me a file of your recorded voice
if you'd like. If you you know, don't have a
landline or something, if you don't live in nineteen ninety uh,
you can do so by sending that to hit Point
at super Derek RPGs dot com. That is Super Derek RPGs.
That's hit point, hit point at Super Derek ARPGs dot com.
(25:36):
Yeah yeah, okay, so, uh, moving along, moving along. We've
got some upcoming releases, yes don't we.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Yes, we've got two and they're both just right in
our core demographic, you know. Right now, Ali, let's just
say the first is something that I really enjoyed, uh
with my time with its early access. It and so
this is coming from Ender Lily's creator by Nary Hayes. Uh.
(26:11):
They've just released the final trailer to their newest entry
and Magnolia Bloom in the midst to commemorate it, leaving
early access and launching in other platforms. This game is
if it's anything like Ender Lily's uh and anything that
(26:32):
is uh a good continuation of what I've already played.
They they released like up to late the first three chapters.
Uh so far. Uh. If it's gonna be anything that,
you know, if it's a similar experience, then I I'm
already thinking that this is going to be an amazing
game Ender Lilies.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
It's kind of a little known game, uh, but it
actually sold quite well. I think it's so like one
point five million copies in all form, and that's impressive
for a new ip with very very little advertisement. I'm
surprised if anyone's ever even heard about it. But if
(27:15):
you haven't tried Ender Lily's you like sort of like
a platformer RPG matrivnia kind of deal. Definitely give us
a shot. But we are here to talk about Andrew Magnolia.
We do have a trailer for that. Let's take a look.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
All right, let's check it out. All right, let's see
if I remember how to do this. Hang on, it's
been a minute.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
This is the final trailer.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
I should probably turn that down a little bit. Just
don't want to get copies striked here. I don't know.
Oh no, my camera is all weird on the side.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I'll fix this that The music, d the r and
the story from Enderley. Is this phenomenal? So this is
kind of it's it's a sequel, but I don't know
to what extent, Like is this like canon in universe sequel?
(28:12):
Is it like you know, uh, just aquel in terms
of like a similar gameplay in the same company kind
of deal?
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Is it direct or is it indirect?
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Is it yeah? Yeah, yeah, there you go.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
That's it's like Final Fantasy, you know, or is it
like Trails?
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Yeah, there you go. That's that's what I don't know,
And we may find out after playing the game, but
at least at this point in time, I have no idea.
The setting is completely different from the previous game. That's
the reason why I can't say one way or another.
They could still be connected though somehow. Sure that does
(28:54):
look cool. Oh, it's it's a phenomenal game. The so
a lot of times when you play these like action games,
like you need it to be very fluid, right, and
vluidity is something that this game does really well. Extremely
fluid gameplay, very stylish, amazing art as you can see,
(29:17):
a great sound, you know, and music directions. It's it's
the whole package, you guys.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
This appears to be one of those kind of paper
doll aesthetics but done well, kind of not quite vanilla
ware level, but still really good from what I can.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
I mean, there's like a small little studio. I think
that the fact that they are able to pull up
this level game and this is like their third game. Yeah,
this is their third game.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
Pretty right.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
The first game was Ender Lilies, and then they had
that tactical RPG that didn't sell us. Well, I forgot
what it's called already. I've been putting off the play
that one. But this this is like a know, going
back to what they were really successful in making. So
I'm kind of hyped for this.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Yeah, well, rad so this is coming out when.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
This is coming out January twenty second, so that's in
like three days, very coming out three days. Yeah, you
can actually get it right now in Steam through Early Access.
You can play for the first like three chapters, so
all three areas I just say, because it's the metrovanean thing,
so it's like areas that opens up, but they close
(30:33):
off all the other areas. But now they're leaving early access,
they're launching a game. This is the final trailer. It's
showing off the rest of the stuff that we didn't
get to see. I already played a little bit of
this game. Look at it like it's almost like kind
of like a demo if you will, right, And from
what I played, it was really good. So I'm stoked
to play this game. And not only is it available
(30:57):
on Steam, but it's also going to be available digitally
anyways on PS four, PS five Xbox Series Switch. So
they might do like a what is it called the
physical release later on if the game sells well, because
that's what they did with Ender Lilies. They eventually did
like a limited run physical release, which I got, and
(31:18):
because I liked the game so much, So I'm a
little biased, but I really enjoyed Ender Lilies, and I
hope everyone would, you know, find out about these games.
As part of why I enjoyed doing hit Point is
like these amazing games and I want to tell the
war about them, and so, uh, Magnolia is going to
(31:40):
be one of those, so tell me.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Yeah, man, that's so cool. Be real, you're you're actually
sick as a dog right now, and we're still doing
hit Point because right on cue and we're doing because
you just wanted to talk about Ender Magnolia.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Well, I want to talk about all the games, but
especially and yeah, no, it's because I miss everyone. I've
been away for too long and I'm like, if we
miss another week, like we're just gonna be forgotten, like
no one remembers. Well okay, well they'll remember you because
you know, you're still pushing stuff out. But I'm just
gonna be like dude, being gone for a month in
(32:19):
like Content Creation World. You must well have retired, you know,
like it's to tell me about it.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
I get it. Yeah, but where are here?
Speaker 4 (32:29):
Hi?
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Yes, so that's coming. Did you already say the platforms in.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Y twenty second on four or five Xbox series which NPC?
Of course?
Speaker 3 (32:38):
All right, well I'll go ahead and take this next one.
I don't think we divv it up the subjects because
we're out of practice. But guys, guys, we got another
game coming out this weekend. It is called Sword of
the Neckromancer Resurrection. And it feels like just the other
day that we were actually talking about this being announced
or we got a first trailer or something. I feel
(32:59):
like it was like a delayed Yeah, it felt like
just a little bit ago. We were talking about it though,
bottom line, and I was like, I was like, oh, man,
is that like the crypt of the necro Dancer. Like
for some reason I had it in my mind that
that was it. It is not that. This is something
pretty pretty sweet actually, So it's a this is the
(33:20):
three D remake. Well three D I feel like it's
one of those words that loses its meaning over time.
The polygonal, the polygonal remake of Sword of the Necromancer
from Grim of Games. Yeah, it's coming in just a
couple of days. It's coming out on the twenty third,
(33:41):
and we have a trailer for it as well, So
let's go ahead and check that out.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Let's take a look. This game looks impressive to me.
I think they're trying to recreate like the PS one error, Yes,
and they are doing it well.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
I think it's a little like DS ish D kind
of uh yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Mean it's it's kind of a similar esthetic.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Yeah, yeah, I can see p S two, p S
two slash d s DS as far as like it
looks kind of like that, with the character models being
kind of of that style.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
I feel like the little yeah a little bit more
cheeby than was popular on PS two, which is why
I think I associated more with DS, like like what
was the oh there was a game?
Speaker 3 (34:37):
So I feel like Legend of Legacy and Legend of
Legacy has a very similar proportionality.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
To it, except without like the pointy legs of the
pointy feet.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
Yeah, this is a little yeah, this is like that,
but with feet.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Yeah, with feet.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
They know it's like our audience need feet for reasons,
got them?
Speaker 2 (35:03):
I didn't know what they like feets so much? My god,
Oh look they showed that. They just showed good. That
does look good.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Look they even have fingers and stuff. So it's like
it's clearly inspired by that aesthetic, but they're not limited,
they're not litting limiting themselves by it. So that's sick.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I really like this. So again, it's coming out twenty
third on all modern platforms, including the PlayStation, Xbox Switch,
the Steam as well, so everything, everything, all the things
that we care about. Yeah, except for the Switch too,
but we'll talk about that later. Oh yeah, well, I.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Mean we don't Yeah, we don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Maybe maybe, oh maybe maybe, But yeah, I suspect that
people who enjoy like Zelda would probably appreciate this game.
So it's probably along that that kind of like adventure
game like minor puzzle solving actions and oriented gameplay.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
I dig it, I I really do dig that. I
think that you know, there is as many like Zelda
clones clones Zelda likes action adventures that there are out there.
It feels like the number of really h the number
of like really interesting ones feels lower.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
These days than usual.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
Why that leads I think a lot of the Zelda
esque games are ends up being more like what is
that one famous one in Super Nintendo Dang to the
Past kind of style. Past. Yeah, like Pass is kind
of like the model of like Zelda S game but
(36:57):
like two D and we see a lot of it,
and you know, and they all good in their respect,
but this is different. This is like the three D kind. Yes,
and there are more.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
There are some three D like like a ocean horn
comes to mind, I think as but but yeah, the
overall number just seems lower than I would think given
the love that that people have for the Zola games.
So anyways, this is cool. Yeah, yeah, let's let's go
ahead and move along here because we have a lot
(37:32):
more games to get through. We're done talking about the
stuff coming out this week, so let's talk about some
of the games that got announced here and we got men.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
So we're going to touch on some stuff that we
didn't get to geek out with you guys over before
we went on hiatus. So some of these you guys
already know, but we're gonna go over them many ways
because we didn't get to geek out together. So we together.
Now I had to get out separately. I don't even
know how to do that, not know how to geek
(38:03):
out alone. No, I all right, we shall geek out
together now perhaps, so yeah, you got the stuff versus Yeah,
let's start off with this one. I'm more familiar with
these two uh sega and uh our gg studio announced two,
not one, two brand new projects. Uh and and I
(38:26):
think that's quite ambitious. And uh, let's just look at
the first one. They did this over at the Game
Awards show, so let's just take a look at it
and then we can talk about it. This first one
is called Project Century. All right, look at the trailer.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Now, Jeff Keeley is not gonna copy strike me, is he?
Speaker 2 (38:48):
I hope not. I mean it's the it's the trailer
that we care about.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
So yeah, oh this music might copyright strike me though,
so then yeah, so the uh, the this is showing
some footage of like old school Japan in color now fifteen.
(39:14):
So the century that they're talking about must be the
century between nineteen fifty and nineteen fifteen and then up
through twenty fifteen. Is that what I'm getting here?
Speaker 2 (39:27):
We'll see.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
We don't, I mean, we don't really, yeah, we don't
have any details, but like, they haven't told us anything yet,
but I'm curious. So this looks definitely like Yakuza, Yeah,
Yakuza esque gameplay, or rather like a dragon like RG
like a dragon. Yeah, which makes sense because this is
RGG Studio.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Right, it's RGG. This is their bread and butter.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Oh man, this is this is their their sushi suscore.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Yeah. The game play that looks definitely feels RGG. You
can see the DNA. Oh woah, geez that was that.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
Was bloody delicious. Did his shirt say trademark on the back.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Yeah? This is the Showa uh showa no show no
not showa shoot uh taisho. This is the Tysho era
so before Yeah, so this is the Tyso era. Yeah.
So that is Project Century And of course a lot
(40:38):
of people, a lot of people are making speculations about
what this game is about. It's just like a Yakuzu. Yeah, yeah,
from like you know, then nineteen fifteen and then the
that the director is basically saying, no, whatever you're thinking,
you're probably wrong, just just stop. Just I love it,
(41:00):
let us let us cook, let us show you what
it is. You'll be surprised. And then yeah, responsibly. Yeah,
so I will throw my guests into the ring because
when I saw it, I'm like, oh, this might be
a case the thing like the it's not the first
time that they've made a game that has very strong yeah,
(41:20):
because of DNA, but not yet because I mean some
somewhat connected in the world. But Judgment is the like
spin off, so it's not impossible for them to have
a game that has similar DNA but also completely related
as well. So this could very well be like their
(41:41):
answer to keeping that kind of you know, uh, what's
the what's the right like action kind of gameplay that
the newer Legga Dragon games have since moved away from,
and keeping that don't. Yeah, I don't see them moving back, like, not.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
For a while, not as long as Costaga's you know,
taken a lot.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
As long as Costaga as the main character, and I
suspect that they will keep him as I mean, they
tried so hard to establish them as the main character
and they did a great job. I don't think they're
gonna throw all that hard work away. Sorry, my my
internet or something just not internet. My chrom suddenly crashed.
That was weird. Something Is I still on them? Okay?
Speaker 3 (42:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, you're good.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
Yeah. So, so I suspect that the like a Dragon
game is gonna be turn based though suff forth the spinoffs.
As you guys know, the Pirate game that features Majima
is going to be an action oriented game, but that's
not like a whole series, right, Like this could be
the action oriented series to keep the fans happy, and
(42:54):
it will be a completely new character, completely new uh
you know, age, new era or new surrounding.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
And they call it a project so I think, I mean,
you wouldn't. I wouldn't think they would call it Project
Century unless they were planning on making it a whole
multi game project.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
Yeah. Well, I mean if it doesn't sell well, true,
they certainly planned for it to do well, and it
looks great. So I I let olgg coke. They have
not disappointed me. I mean, obviously I always have some
complaints or some things that they can do better, but
O all, they haven't disappointed me in the things that
(43:34):
they push out. It's the the DLCs afterwards, it's that
bugs me. Yeah, so that's it. That's fine, But us
like the core games that they push out, they're all
quality games, great humor, great gameplay. Uh, definitely recommended. Now,
so that's one project. But this next project, I didn't
(43:56):
expect RGG to be handling this. Uh, let's take a
look at is This is the predevelopment concept video of
the new Virtual Fighter project.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Okay, here, you go ahead and press the play button
here and I'll switch to theater mode because it's a
very short video.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Yeah, so those who don't know, like Virtual Fighter is
sort of like the fighting game series that Sega had
not hardcoing for a while. It's it's pretty sick. Yeah,
but this is like the new Are they leaning in
(44:36):
into the homeless Dad? Looks at it like, you're as
also homeless dad? Now? Is that they they saw what
they did with reu in Street Fighter and they're like,
we need that, we need our own homeless Dad.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
I mean's great.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
Yeah, yeah, that's pretty sick. We'll see more of it.
I mean, is this is still super early stuff. So
but I'm excited to see them. You know, whenever company
willing to do new ips, it gets me excited because
I mean, as much as I like the old stuff,
(45:13):
I want them to try new ideas. I want them
to tell new stories. Like I don't want them to
get stuck in complacency and just like do nothing new
and take no risk. So these things are the new stuff.
They are taking risks. They could just drop Virtual Fighter
and never touch it again. I kind of like the
(45:34):
idea that they bring back Virtual Fighter. I mean, here,
here's the thing, Like sheen MoU start off as a
Virtue Fighter spinoff. It kind of oh yeah, yeah, I
don't even know that that's interesting.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Yeah, it's super cool because the I mean, that's why
the character looks so similar to uh god, what's the
guy's name, uh Akira? Yeah, from Virtual Fighter. Yeah. So anyways, yeah,
it started off as a spinoff, and I don't know
part of part of the fact that, like I always
hear shed MoU being compared to like a dragon is
(46:12):
is so cool. And now now I'm like seeing more
dots that could potentially coming for Circle it kind of is.
And and I mean obviously we're I don't think that
we're gonna see, you know, any sort of like thing
where RGG makes another shed Move game, but that would
be so cool. It would be so cool.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
Uh and just a.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Little more DNA being shared, you know. Virtual Fighter project
is interesting to me already. Yeah, yeah, it's it's super
interesting anyway. So and yeah, I'm just like over here
connecting dots that don't belong together. That's that's what I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (46:49):
This is this is what.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Gets me excited. But hype responsibility because in fifteen twenty
three years we'll probably I mean we might see in
thirty years shed MoU reboot by rgg send.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
Yes, reboot would be interesting.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
Moot schen sh'll see ye.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
All right, all right, what what other what other crazy
projects do we have lined up?
Speaker 4 (47:13):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (47:14):
Buddy, oh buddy, let me let me tell you a
little bit. One of my favorite games that is not
an RPG M is is this little little little series.
You might have heard of it. It's called one Musha. Well, uh,
with that said, let's just let's just take a quick
little gander this little thing.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
Yeah, what is this ony Musha? I've never heard of it.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
I mean most people haven't because this game, I mean
it was on a Capcom uh like voting thing that
happened a while back. You might remember us talking about
how disappointed I was that Breath of Fire wasn't included
or didn't rank as well as I would like it too.
But but on Musha did on Musha went up.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
I'm surprised that they waited this long to bring only
Wisha back, because, like, I feel like only is like
the perfect thing to round out their like supremacy. Capcom
has just been killing it in way sesque anix only
wish it could, because they don't just They don't just
do well in like one genre of game and then
(48:21):
do something here and there. They do well across the
spectrum of genre of games. Uh. You know all these
ips that people know and love?
Speaker 3 (48:35):
Is that the original? Like the original model? The he
was an actor who was someone.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
Something something?
Speaker 3 (48:45):
Is that him again? Did they get his likeness again?
Speaker 2 (48:48):
I don't know, because I don't remember what he looks like.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
It might not be someone else k anymore this time around.
It's hard to say. Uh, but that would be so cool.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
I would.
Speaker 3 (48:59):
I would be so happy.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
I would, I would be No, it's not undos Today's nose.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Oh I'm getting.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Oh, twenty twenty six, let's go way of the Sword.
Oh man, this body be well? You could look it
up while I while I stall for you.
Speaker 3 (49:20):
It's fine. It's slated for some time in twenty twenty six.
It's coming out on PS five the Xbox series game
games consoles as well as PC.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Uh and I am.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
Incredibly incredibly responsibly hyped over this one because I'm I'm
gonna probably play it. I mean, it's got the horror
elements of a Resident Evil because it was also kind
of a Resident Evil spin off originally. Did you know that, Bucko,
I did not know that.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
No. Oh yeah, yeah, it's actually not really that's news
to me. Yeah, and it was originally gonna be a
Resident Evil set in like well, feudal Japan.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
But then they're like the zombies that is that it?
Uh huh yeah, oh yeah, and that's why it also
kind of had similar ish controls to uh, you know,
the tank controls in the first one.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
So anyways, yeah, so they've been doing with that and
then and then they're making this and what.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
Were you gonna say, though, Well, here's my hope for
the game, right because I don't know what the game
is going to play. Like, we saw some action, but
it's it's not enough to say one way another. Here's
my hope for the game. My hope is that they
will distinctively separate uh, this from like like yeah Devil,
because like only Musha the original game was more of
(50:40):
a high speed like Hack and Slash deal No no,
no sire speed oridge well, I mean not the first
only Musha was slow. It was tank controls, it felt
pretty it ste felt pretty fast and made compared to
like elden Ring for sample.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
Yeah, it was. It was pretty slow.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
It got faster with the sequels, right, but the very
first one though, was like definitely walking around with ten
controls and like very controlled, very stiff story control like
it was. It was cool.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
I loved it, So I guess the series progression went
that way. Yes, by messing with my perception of it,
but but ultimately it did get faster. Yes, yes, well
if they can do this as and I'm just you know,
if this is like their soul competitor and Dante remained
like the high speed hydrinaline like you know, you know,
(51:39):
some of instance based like thing. Yeah, like uh, Bayonetta.
I think they can differentiate themselves enough to hit different
like audience and do really well to know how they're
gonna differentiate themselves from the plethora of Johnny cum Lately's
you know, going after the souls like category and the
(52:03):
Samurai souls likes. Uh, you know, I if any game
can do it, I think they can absolutely. But the
backing has got the pedigree, it's got the name, it's
got the setting right.
Speaker 3 (52:17):
Cool mechanics of like soul absorption from a distance as
opposed to like you know, I mean there there's definitely
some things that they did first that were later incorporated
into the souls likes. But but I am curious how
I mean, and I and I agree they're gonna be
able to do it. I'm just I want to know how.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
That's that's the question.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
That's the It's not it's not how how are they
going to overcome this challenge? That's not what I'm saying.
I'm like, what what have they got in store? This
is good?
Speaker 2 (52:48):
What are they going to do?
Speaker 3 (52:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Yes, and yeah, you know, I'm excited. I have faith
in Capcom. They've been doing a lot of things right.
They the thing that Capcom does right, and it's just
such a no brainer. But it's that they actually connect
with their player at base and they ask, Okay, what
do you like about our game? Maybe that's like a
better question than to say like what, like, what do
(53:14):
you like? What do you don't know? What are you're
not like because you're never gonna get like a perfect answer,
but like, well, don't you just tell us what you like?
It will try to like keep in refined dose and
then do something else like yeah, and how would you
improve the graphics? If we improve the graphics, would you
recommend this game to your friends?
Speaker 3 (53:36):
Okay, all right, sorry I didn't. I didn't never that,
I didn't. I don't need to throw shade. You know,
we're starting fresh in twenty five.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, so let's take a look at
the next one.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Let's do that because the hits they keep on a
coming with them. Oh yeah, okay, well, let's just go
ahead put up this trailer. You know, I'll introduce it
after the fact. Let us speak for itself, right yeah yeah,
Capcom you slide dogs? Are they slight foxes? No, sly wolves?
Speaker 2 (54:16):
A sly wolf? Oh man, look at that. Many people
were just like I remember when this trailer came out,
My Twitter feed was just like every single tweet was this.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
Buddy that eye, Like.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
For like a good forty eight hours in my entire
tweet was just like oh, comy O, comey O, comey O,
comey oh, comey O, comey oh come.
Speaker 3 (54:49):
That's yep o comey sequel. That's all we got. It's
just a teaser, you know, no gameplay, nothing. But that's okay. Now,
the question is what we saw it was beautiful? Is
is that what the game is going to look like?
Speaker 2 (55:09):
Well, you know, if there's one person who can make
sure that that happens, it's you know, he Decky Kamiya. Yes,
he was the original director of the game. And guess
who's directing this one? Like that is gorgeous. Uh.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
The question that comes to mind though, is like, is
that gonna it's awesome? It's beautiful, no notes, like, but
the question is from a gameplay perspective, is that going
to provide enough visual fidelity to like identify what needs
to be killed by your whole buddy, you know, Like
(55:53):
I I've never had issue with them when the visual
department with Okami is always the contra like because you
have to draw stuff and the sensor is always just
a little off, and it becomes frustrating when you have
to like circle and circle again and and just keep
circling because it didn't get it right.
Speaker 2 (56:12):
So hopefully they fixed that. But visually speaking, like it's
always been.
Speaker 3 (56:17):
Beautiful and I don't They're gonna nail it, I know.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
Yeah, yeah, I think so. I have faith in them.
Uh yeah. So Clover's a new studio founded by Deki
Kamya will actually be the developer of this game. So
again he Deki Kamya is back and he is helping
the project. You know. Capcom's like, come on back, what
come come on back? You know, yeah, they come back,
(56:42):
So we come back.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
So we don't really have any other information about a
release date or platform or anything. Really, we don't even
know what it's gonna look like. That was a teaser,
not not actual gameplay obviously, but man, oh man, the
hype is real. Uh just you know, I responsibility.
Speaker 2 (57:02):
Twenty five is going to be a wonderful, wonderful year,
I know into twenty twenty six. Yeah, it's gonna be
great and good. Yeah yeah, we eaten good. All right,
Well that was that was rgg sega. That was Capcom
and not to lose out on this, like you know,
(57:23):
announcement train. Let's say Foulcom is here to hit us
with three separate releases that will come at some point
probably twenty twenty five, twenty six. Yeah, so let's start
it with The first one that I'm a little torn about,
and that is that they have announced an upgraded version
(57:48):
of East ten called East ten Proud Nordics. This upgraded
version will feature eight news story well you know, not
not an entire news story, but like part news story
extend settings. Yeah, ad story. I just say, uh, and
it's just like many different new elements. Now, we don't
(58:09):
have a trailer for this. We also don't have any
international release information at the moment, but given the company's history,
it is extremely extremely likely that it will at some
point become available for the international market. Uh. It will
be available in Japan sometime this year, so we'll keep
(58:30):
an eye out for it. The reason why I'm like
kind of about this is because like, this is the
exact thing that I just It just bothers me that
you feel you feel like you got at list, right, Yeah,
I got at list like persona PERSONA have a counterpoints
and the PERSONA four Golden like okay, fine, PERSONA five,
(58:52):
and then PERSONA five Royal like.
Speaker 3 (58:54):
Okay, okay, you st five vengeine.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
Yeah, yeah, but I do have a counter eleven s.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
I have a I have an alternate perspective on this
that I think helps a little bit. I mean, okay, sure,
I realize that East ten Nordics just came out and
then they're like, oh hey, right around the corner East
ten Proud Nordics, like in the same breath as the
(59:27):
English release. But but if it helps ease the.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Sting at all.
Speaker 3 (59:32):
Remember the original release of East ten was on September
of twenty twenty three, and they're announcing this at the
beginning of twenty twenty five. Probably gonna come out maybe
twenty twenty five, maybe twenty twenty six, it's hard to
say for sure. International I will bet you bet, yeah,
(59:52):
I will. I will say twenty five, Japan twenty six,
the rest of the world.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
So does suck.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
It does suck that they are like, you know, three
years later, Hey here's here's this new version. It's just
it's not as egregious as it seems, I think because
of that three year gap. Yeah, it just it's poorly
timed because of the international release. That's two years late,
you know for an international audience. But you know, they
(01:00:24):
have been increasing their rate of localization. So hopefully, you know,
Easton Nordic's Proud Nordics will come out, you know, twenty
twenty six, you know, and then that will be the
last time something like this happens. But I mean, enhanced
re releases are kind of par for the course at
this point. And it was released originally on like PlayStation
(01:00:46):
four and Nintendo Switch, the PS five release four. It
was probably based on some older hardware. I suspect that
Proud Nordics is going to be intended for that next
gen console, you know, the twenty twenty or the the
PS five switch to, so it'll Yeah, So even though
there is a version on PS five, I'm guessing that
(01:01:08):
the new one's gonna be just like made with it
in mind specifically.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
We'll see, But I know what I'm doing with my
uh limited edition of East ten. I am gonna sell
it because I'm gonna no, I.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
Don't blame you. I don't blame you. You're gonna sell it, yeah,
I don't blame you. And everybody else though, so yeah,
I know, well, remember by high sell low.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Some people will probably keep it. I feel like it's
only people who are like hyper like responsive to these
news like myself, will do it. Most people probably don't
even care until like the international uh release. You're right,
this is probably a better time than like a monthly before.
(01:02:03):
Yeah boy, because if the international news comes out, then
I'm like, Okay, this is too late. I gotta sell it,
like now it's still worth anything that's fairs what it is.
So I'm a little piff, but I mean, I guess
you're right, like there's that time difference and whatnot, but
still just miss things a little. AnyWho. What I hope
(01:02:24):
that they wouldn't do that for is the remix for
the Sky series, which we've talked about. We talked about
them remaking that they we now have an official Western title.
It's actually called Trelson the Sky First Chapter. That's the
official Western or international title. Now that's not going to
(01:02:47):
confuse people at all, not at all. And the game
will be published by none other than gun Hole Online Entertainment,
which I didn't I didn't know that it is going
to be a thing. Uh. It's going to feature English
and Japanese voice options, brand new localizations. Uh. And the
(01:03:08):
limited edition will actually be handled by Limited Run Games
and they will announce that in a later time, so
there will be like a limited edition for Sky First Chapter.
And I'm I'm kind of curious about this because I
am quite the Estelle fan myself. Bestell uh, and so
I am very likely to tap into the scan and
(01:03:31):
never play any of the If I never play another
Trails game, I will still come back and play this remaster.
I feel like, uh so, I'm really excited for it.
I am incredibly stoked.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
It is such a pretty looking trailer that they've put
out so far. And you know, look at the trailer
and oh oh yeah I didn't I did mention it.
So yeah, let's let's take a look. Oh that gets
me coming. That gets me like.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
A random whoa.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
Oh yeah, best, so let's go oh man, but seriously,
that that gets me right, And the feels like like
the beginning of the Herald at the beginning of a
dragon Quest song, you know, the it the falcon.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Look, oh man, look at that. Yeah see, I I
really feel like this is made to work on Switch to.
Chars are m hm and lover boy.
Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
But yeah, I really do feel like this looks like
it'll run well on switch to.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
What what did you see that just now? Like which
hold on the battle?
Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Oh yeah, real time, real time? Uh huh yeah, just
like Daybreak? Did you know that day Break does that too?
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
Yeah? So I'm excited for stuff like that too, like
there not just like a remike and just like three
D in Boom, Like no, the gameplay is going to
be different. M It's not like Grit.
Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
Bay's like you know, oh man, it is gonna be
such an incredible opportunity for people to get you know,
to get sucked in Chloe's back.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Oh nice.
Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
Oh man, there's Olivier and Shirezard and Joshua and is
still an unforgettable jo I am a reasonable I didn't
think I would ever be so stoked about Trails because
I'm not like the biggest Trails fan.
Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
But okay, you got me there, you got me. Oh buddy,
you've got me.
Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
Oh man, that is that is.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Like so so good. Yep, you got me there. Okay.
So uh, this is going to be released worldwide in
the fall of this year, twenty twenty five on PS five,
switch and PC. So I mean time time flies before
you know. This game is going to be in out Doorstep,
(01:06:13):
So wait for the limited edition to come out. The announcement,
I would imagine it will come out soon because it
takes time to fulfill those orders, so probably in the
next month, I would say in the next month or two,
you're probably going to hear about the limited edition pre orders,
which I'm totally going to go in for.
Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Yeah, yeah, I don't love that it's through allergy though.
I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
Am I don't know why, Like I don't think they've
burned me before, But I just.
Speaker 2 (01:06:45):
I don't think gun Hole has the capacity to do
limited or experience doing limited. Yeah. I just hope that
they will be consistent at least and stop switching things
in the middle, like, yeah, it's limited edition, like because
we know it's going to be trilogy. So like if
they go like, oh it's limited run games, gonna do
limited edition for first chapter in a second chapter is
(01:07:07):
like some other vendor, and then they do different things
like I think that's gonna really like oh god, if
they don't imagine, I will riot. Yeah, they're not going
to match, you know, like, oh god, what are you doing?
So excuse me. I'm just hoping that this, this trio,
the series, this trilogy will have very consistent release and
(01:07:30):
consistent release schedule, and that would be all I am
really hoping for.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
You don't know this, actually, but they're actually going to
turn this into a six part series.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Oh no, are they pulling a square x? Are they
doing an alternate reality thing?
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
And well you didn't hear from me? Oh no, kidding,
just kidding. But how that's that?
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
That is?
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
That is probably how they'll they'll retcon the the action
RPG gameplay into it that that they brought into Daybreak
because that was part of a of a new orbament
system in that game. So I don't know how how
does that orbman end up?
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
You know, three or four years prior. This is going
to be a fourth bonus chapter. Oh that's what's first chapter?
Second chapter, third chapter? Like, oh, here's a fourth chapter,
the missing chapter.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
I think I know why I am not okay here.
Here's why I'm a little disappointed that that it's allergy.
They're probably find people mostly, but but what I'm what
I have experienced with is that if I miss out
on that initial run, I'm hosed andy and it's going
to get scalped super crazy afterwards. Like if you miss
(01:08:42):
out on that first like initial wave of the Collector's editions,
like if you go on to eBay, it's not going
to be like oh yeah, here it is for like
ten dollars more seem like, oh, yeah, here it is
for three thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
But but that's the nature of limited edition.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
Though, right, so not all limited editions. It's just like
when they're really low runs, like limited run games. That's
when there's just no no grace, no leeway. And I
don't know part of it is I think what those
limited really limited runs. It reminds me of Square Enix
when they did their like drop in the middle of
midnight on you know, on a weekend, like everyone's saying
(01:09:22):
and like you wake up and they're gone, and like
what the so yeah, so anyway the fact yes, yes,
oh my gosh, So anyways, reeling back in. I don't
think that's necessarily gonna happen. I feel like Energy is
probably better at that than Square Innox since that's kind
(01:09:42):
of like their bread and butter. So it probably won't happen.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
But part of me.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
Is like, oh my god, am I gonna get it?
Am I gonna miss out? Like I got that fomo
going hard right now just hearing that it's allergy, So
I'm gonna have to order it and pray that it
shows up and isn't like damaged or something thing and.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
That's how they get you man. But okay, but wait,
there's more. Oh, oh, dear, but wait there's more. Okay,
you see how we've done like two games for RGG
and two games or Capcom Falcon is like, let me
do you one bet. I'm gonna throw like a third
contender in there, just to get you really excited. Falco
also announced that they will be releasing the remaster version
(01:10:21):
of a lesser known crossover game that was only ever
available officially in Japan called East Versus Trail in the
Sky Alternative Saga Now. Along with the remastered graphics and
sixty fps, this entry will also feature couch and online
(01:10:41):
multiplayer for the first time because there wasn't online multiplayer before,
and English voice acting. Second look of that trailer?
Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
Oh oh interesting, okay, yeah, let's check this out. I
wonder is it also.
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
All the people who are like Trails so East, Well,
you don't have to pick anymore. Play Trails Trails and
and the East and East at the same time, Legend
of Heroes Trails in the Sky.
Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
These two worlds are.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
About yeah collide finally.
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Between the series are broken for a dream match up.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Yes, down the way. Oh, that's a voice acting sound
familiar because they should. Yay, Yeah, coming to PC.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
That's that is exciting. Uh, that's very exciting. I wanted
to see a little gameplay.
Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Well, I mean, if you want to see gameplay, just
look at the old game, because this is going to
be a remaster. So oh, it's not a remake, it's
a remaster makes a remaster. Now. My guest is that,
of course, for one, the game is already there and
the fan base is there, so why not. But another
part of me is like, I mean, if if this
does well, you know, Foulcom might be like, hey, maybe
(01:12:08):
there's a market for something like this, and maybe you
won't do another East Versus Trails, but this time it
could be like you know, uh Trails, you know, dude,
you know.
Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
After filling through the Cold Steel after playing through the
Cold Steel games, Like, the cast of characters at this
point is massive, Like seriously picking out a party in
Trails of Cold Steel four felt like to choose a
character screen on like Smash Bros. Ultimate that just like
(01:12:42):
never ended. It's like choose your character and then it's like,
oh yeah, pick like seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
People on a on a lower count here, But I
mean they have ten games work for characters. Oh man,
that's fine. Yeah, yeah, don't be okay, don't you worry
about little at all at all? Oh yeah, handle, I'm
sure he'll be all right. He'll he'll bump into somebody
that might help. Yeah, but we'll see. We'll see how
(01:13:08):
this does. I mean rhether or not fans are receptive
to this. I think this this guy out of be
like a cult thing where like just a you know,
strong like really dedicated fans, or maybe it could be
something bigger. We'll say. This is slated for some time
in twenty twenty five again, and unlike the trailer, is
actually more available than PC only. It's also available on
(01:13:31):
PS four, PSO five, and the Switch. So yes, this
multi platform and also PC. Now other cross platform play,
I don't know because there's online multiplayer, but that's just
something that I don't know at this moment in time.
But we'll see. Yeah, we'll see what this game looks like.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
So that was being localized by Gung Ho Online Entertainment,
which is pretty interesting. I've heard some people talk about
the reason why that might be, and I I haven't
taken the time to confirm any of this or this
one is different that that was. That was the gun
hole one is uh trusting the sky? This ye is
(01:14:11):
done by somebody else. I think, oh, this one's being
done entirely.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Separate body else. YEAHOG is involved, like heavily, h like
this refined games. I think it's like R E F
I N T games. Okay, so this is this is
not gun hole like this okay some other Oh, thank
you for that correction.
Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
But anyways, Uh, I was I'm still thinking of gung
Ho though, because I was, I still got I got
the remay make up my mind. Yeah yeah, and uh
and anyway, so I was, I was trying to figure
out like why that is, and somebody mentioned to me
and I again, I haven't verified this, but it sounds
like the reason that Falcon might be working with them
is uh well, partially probably because Nissa and ex Seed
(01:14:56):
are full to capacity with some of the projects that
they're working on. But the other reason that I've heard
is that there actually might be some some high ranking
staff members who were previously at x Seed back when
they were primarily going through x Seed who now work
at gung Ho, which is pretty rare because yeah, so
(01:15:19):
I don't know if there's truth to that or not,
but I will say that Gung Ho have also announced
something else that's pretty sweet, and that is the release
date for the Lunar Remastering Collection, which will contain Lunar
the Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar Too Eternal Blue Complete.
(01:15:41):
So this collection will feature a new English voiceover, have
the option to play in classic and remastered mode, and
other quality of life improvements. And I think, is this
a new.
Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
Trailer that we have or is this the same trailer?
Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
Might be the same look anyway, yea, yeah, because I
think I showed this on geropyg Weekly Update, but but
I don't think we talked about it here. But yeah,
like the original voice actress and stuff, like she's been
hanging out with uh gosh, she I remember seeing on
(01:16:18):
Twitter the voice actress who's singing right here. She was
like back in the booth to like re record some
stuff and she was actually talking to some of the
original developers at the time. And it's ours.
Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Oh that's so beautiful. I have no excuse not to
play this now. Had like I relaced this game when
it released.
Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
You missed it? Did you ever play?
Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
It's it's the same old story with a lot of
retro Again, it's like I have very limited funds. I
can pick this game over another game, and it's just
a game that I didn't get to pick. And then
by the time I have the means to afford these games,
they're like us each Yeah yeah, I was like two
(01:17:00):
decades later. Yeah, so I didn't get to play these
I didn't get to play these games myself until oh,
twenty twelve, twenty eleven, like I was. I was definitely
well passed my uh you know, this was this was
not a They also have like the original artists come
(01:17:21):
back to do some art for them too, So I'm
very excited, Like you really brought back the crew and like,
all right, guys, let's not just the Japanese but English,
Like all right, hey, we've got this cool thing. We
want to make it very authentic footage fans, let's do it.
No do you? No?
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Do you? Iwada He was the composer for for the
Lunar games, and I believe Grandia also just incredible. Uh
just music tugs at the hearts. You will be in tears,
my friend. You have a lot to look forward to.
And if you at home, haven't played it, well you
you should. It's gonna be awesome because it's coming out
(01:17:59):
on the eighteenth of April this year. Here coming out
on PlayStation.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Four in just a couple of short months.
Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
Man coming to PlayStation four, the Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch,
and PC via Steam.
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
I think that's strange that's not available for PS five.
It is though, because PS five is backwards compatible, like
I think four is like what I think? Yeah, I
think it's because PS five is just a PS four
player at this point, Like you don't need to have
a separate release for it. Really, Like, what is it
gonna make a difference visually? I don't think so. No.
(01:18:39):
I think it's more to the fact that, like people
might be reprehensive about buying a PS four game on
a PS five. Yeah, there's a difference. There's gonna be
a digital download, right, I mean, it's like, why not
just make it available on the PS five store anyway?
I mean they probably are, They probably will. I mean,
(01:19:00):
I just don't think it's gonna run any different because
it's I mean it's a PlayStation one game. Well, no,
I don't think it's gonna run any different. Like, no,
Pinnacle standpoint, it's just a marketing thing that's strange when
you put a game on PS four basketball, put it
on KS five two. It's just it's my guess is
think with Xbox one in series is like just put
(01:19:21):
it in the store, just make it a thing, like
why not?
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
Well, yeah, I'm sure that they will. I'm sure that
they will. But but as far as like why it's
not on a PS five disc, it's like, well, that's
just one more skew to have to create skew, one
more skew to have to create one more like bulk
order to place that you might not sell through. Uh So,
(01:19:45):
like for a small run, it makes the most sense
to do it this way, kind of like if you
make a you know, pre create a whole bunch of
like T shirts for different sizes of people, like you
want to be kind of uh, you know, aware of
like how many how many quadruple xls are you going
(01:20:06):
to sell? How many quadruple sl smalls are you going
to smell? Spell sell words are hard sometimes like yeah,
how many how many extra extra extra smells are you
going to actually sell? Like maybe maybe ordered just one
instead of twenty? Right yeah, so yeah, so yeah, That's
that's the idea.
Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
I think, so very exciting there.
Speaker 4 (01:20:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
I I've got a friend who is just absolutely aesthetic collection.
And I'm also very excited for the reason that I
had already mentioned. So not to be outdone, there are
still a couple more games that we're going to be
talking about. And the next Marvelous is not necessarily like
(01:20:53):
my like Wheelhouse of games, but it's certainly something that
has a huge follower, and that is that Marvelus had
just released a new trailer and the release date for
the upcoming light simulation and action RPG Route Factory Guardians
of Ozuma. Uh, we need to look at the trailer
(01:21:14):
for this. Yeah, this is like their second trailer or something.
Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this actually, Guardians of Ozma.
I think we might have saw the first trailer a
while ago.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
We did, We've seen it before. It looks really nice,
it looks really good. I'm just not a life simulation
that just distracts me from what I do care about.
But obviously there aren't this many Rune Factory game because
it's not popular. Uh. Some people really really loved that
(01:21:49):
balance of like farming and crafting and going out to adventure,
and this just looks like the evolution of that m
It looks absolutely gorgeous. Compared to some of the other
Rune Factory games, which feels a little bit more rudimentary.
This feels like just a higher budget deal that it does.
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Yeah, that's very exciting because like for a while it
felt like Run Factory was definitely embracing the the chiby stuff,
you know, the smaller like and this is this is
a niche building.
Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
Mm hmmm. So it's not even just like farming. You
have to like build the village. Yeah, okay, and they're
like stats involved. Oh yeah, this this is gonna be
pretty cool. It's gonna be a huge time sink. I'm
sure the village building is already giving me like anxiety.
Speaker 3 (01:22:50):
It's given me like some dark cloud vibes, honestly, because
that was all about world building and like placing stuff
in a certain way, because at least from that person,
if it was more of a puzzle solving element rather
than like, uh a town crafting sort of thing. But
in this game it's probably not.
Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
The action looks way better than the previous like Factory games,
way no longer like a top down It doesn't look
as stilted game. Yeah, yeah, like thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:23:24):
Oh oh, guys, guys, guys, watch watch watch. It's the
romance section. I know you've romance.
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
This is this is romance.
Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
This sells games now, buddy. Oh oh, you can get
a little fox boy. Oh desires, Oh dear, oh dear.
All kinds of friendships and stuff going on here.
Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
Romance. And that's a lot of closed eyes people rubbing
their heads. Oh, sixteen romance candidates sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:23:59):
Oh my gosh, that's a lot. Yeah, what is this, trills?
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
What is this? Cold steel? And oh?
Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
Horseback riding?
Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
Dude?
Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Like this is this is a pretty big project, isn't
it pretty.
Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
It's a huge upgrade compared to the fifth game. The
fifth game was actually not really good because a friend
of mine is a big like rune in Factory fan
and she played fifth and there's all kinds of like
silly bugs that in a modern game shouldn't be happening.
(01:24:49):
Hopefully they've learned from those. And actually it wasn't even
it wasn't even bugs. There was just bad design elements
because they're functioning exactly how they thought it would be.
But this is a very clunky room building thing where
like the drawers doesn't sit flush to the wall and
you're just like what it does a gap like the
(01:25:12):
back of the bouquets to the wall and all the
furniture just have this like weird gap, and like what's
going on with this? But this looks way better for
like the town building and stuff, so you know, maybe
they've learned.
Speaker 3 (01:25:24):
And that looks that looks actually, that looks fun, Like
I think I might actually want to play that. After
seeing the trailer like before, it's like, oh yeah, that
might be a good thing for like some time. But
this is like maybe I should ask Marvelous for like
a review key or something around that time, because I should.
Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
It'd be nice to get hands on. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I mean this this seems slightly outside your you know,
usual games, sure, but I mean slightly uh, And you know,
you can have a lot of fun. Maybe you'll learn
the joy of Room Factory and you're like, oh my god,
I never knew I would like this so much, but
(01:26:03):
dang it was so good. Well all right, so this
is actually also coming in fast, Like this is coming
out in May thirtieth, Like we said, there's an actual
release day, so May thirtieth for the Switch, NPC, no PlayStation,
no Xbox. Sorry, but yeah, but you can play it
(01:26:23):
on at least two platforms, so look forward to that.
Heck yeah, all right, yah, So did you want to
handle this this next one? Yeah, I can talk about
this one real quick. This is called Lost sould Aside.
It is a new action RPG from developer Alti zero
(01:26:49):
and published by Sony Interactive. Which is the curious part. Yea,
Let's take a look at the trailer and then we
will talk a little bit about it.
Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
Okay, because this is my first time here about it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Lots of the sign Yeah. So this is from the
China Hero project, which is like, uh like, this is
like the ever try to you know, tap into Chinese developers.
Speaker 3 (01:27:18):
Uh huh. And I remember them doing this and someone
smashed the PS four when they started when they announced
it or something.
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
Yeah, it's crazy. That was just a silly yeah, any
I know. But the game is good.
Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
The game is good, all right, guys, dragon looks.
Speaker 2 (01:27:39):
I think ever since the success of Wolong a Wou
Kong Wou Kong. Yeah, yeah, I think Sony might want
to double down a little bit on Chinese developers. I
think that seems to be the way that they're doing
and not like Chinese companies buying out Japanese developers. No,
(01:28:02):
I mean like investing in Chinese developers who can make
like the next Wukong. Right, So yeah, I mean Sony
hasn't had the best investment record lately with.
Speaker 3 (01:28:19):
Well, let's hope that's different. But we'll talk about some
of their other investments later on.
Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
Oh boy, did you did you wait? Hold on? Did
you did we talk about this like the upper limit
of people's estimation of how much Concord costs? No, four
hundred million eight years over eight years. That was supposed
to be like their live service, like cash Cow. They're
(01:28:46):
gonna raking billions and billions of dollars. They've made like
one million dollars, one single million. Now, obviously four hundred
million is the high estimate, so it's probably going to
be lowered that but let me tell you guys, it
could potentially be four hundred million dollars. Should like, let
(01:29:09):
me tell you make you think about investment strategies. I
could get them a million dollars return on investment easily
for a tenth of that price.
Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
Go on, yes, get we made a video. Yeah, go ahead,
I'll tell you. Just give me fifty million dollars and
I'll give you one million back.
Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:29:32):
Yeah, way better investment strategy. Oh yeah, you lose less
for sure, higher return on investment by fourfold.
Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
Yeah. How would you, sir? How would you like to
quadruple your ROI?
Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
And way faster too. You could do it the next day.
Oh you don't need to wait, super faster result. Yeah,
I give you that million tomorrow, man, you know. Yeah,
So this is definitely from a Chinese developer for sure,
because this is part of the China Hero project. Yeah,
(01:30:10):
we'll see, you know. And I think this is also
interesting because there will be more games like this that
I think would be the fruit of that you know,
endeavor of them trying to tap into. It's a long game,
so to speak. Yeah, well, we'll see how that turns out.
(01:30:30):
And this is why I'm interested in keeping an eye
on this to see, Like, okay, Sony, your other investments.
Its starting to come out now now that game is
slated for some time in twenty twenty five for PS
five and PC. We'll see how that turns out. But
this next one, you got, Okay, this next one here.
Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
This is coming from su Make Kobo. It's a new
high speed mech action game called Omega Phoenix Commence Project six.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Yeah, this title.
Speaker 3 (01:31:12):
Yeah, it's gonna it's gonna feature over thirty missions of
high speed mech battles, mechanical customizations, arena modes, and one
on one battles. And we've got a trailer for it
as well.
Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
It looks pretty good. It's a short trailer. It looks
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
All right, let's check it out.
Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
I missed these, man, Like there were a lot more
of these like high speak mech battle games in like
PS two era, I want to say, like the early
two thousands. Yeah, and then they just kind of the
whole genres was kind of like disappeared.
Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
I feel like there was one recently, yeah, am Core,
Oh no, there was another one recently ish.
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
I think that one is kind of like a couple
of years ago. Deal. Oh maybe specifically, Yeah, this is
like mission base and also arena and also one on
one So it's more aligned with, uh, what Armor Core
had to offer, Like you have the story, but you
also have like the PvP.
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
Look at that Gundam, I mean Mecca totally totally, not
totally not Gundam.
Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
It does look good though, So all you Mega fans
out there, if you're a fan of h what is
it called? Uh, I just said it. I just set
the title arm Core. If you're a fan of armicor
but like so, you want something just a little higher
speed like this is it right here? This feels a
little fast, just a tad faster than Armor Core. Armacre
(01:32:49):
fellows more a little bit more realistic in the slowness
of the Mecca. Let's go with unrealistic Mecca. If I
wanted to, if I wanted to see some robots fighting realistically,
I'd go watch battle Bots. Well, okay, so I don't
know if you've ever played this game, but it's called
Zone of Enders. If you replays Zone of Enders, sounds familiar,
(01:33:10):
but no. Zone of Enders is like a PS two
mecha game, and I love Zone of Enders. And this
feels like the speed, the pace feels more like Zone
of Enders and less like amic Core. It's tad like
fifteen percent faster than but same deal. Like you get
(01:33:30):
the customize, you make different weapons, you have missions. So
I'm really looking forward to seeing this awesome. All right,
the next thing that we've got and we're starting to
enter like more like inde territory. This I'm really interested
in personally because I'm really fond of this developer, the
(01:33:50):
makers of Pocket Mirror and Little Goody two Shoes comes
a new game from Astro Shift. They've just announced this.
This is called Held Maiden, which will be an original
retelling of the Indian Renaissance classic Divine Comedy. Let's take
a look at that. It's not really trail. There's more
(01:34:12):
of a teaser because that's not a whole lot that
they're talking about. But the arts already got me because
they're really good about doing this like nineties style anime art.
Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
Like that show Joe kind of sailor moon Ish.
Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
Yeah. Yeah, this is definitely like you know, if you
if you enjoyed like Pakimir or Little Goody t Shoes,
like this is gonna be wrap up your alley. We
don't really know what it's gonna be, like, it's got
that perfected late nineties anime aesthetics that I really like,
(01:34:50):
uh huh. And like the thing of the thing I
like about the studio though, is like they don't really
advertise their game like a whole lot, but all the
people who play the games have all like nothing big
good things to say about the games. It's just like
very unique, it plays well, just a whole bunch of things.
(01:35:11):
I haven't had a chance to play it. I have
the games, I just haven't had the time to play it.
But from all the reviews I've seen, from all the
things I've seen, like they're doing great. So I am
excited to see that they are pushing like new titles
and like new ips. We'll see what this game looks like.
But they're gonna they say that they're gonna try to
(01:35:32):
break away from like the horror RPG which they have
been doing. They're gonna try to do something different. Yeah,
not much else is known at this point, no platform,
no release window, but they will slowly release these information
in their Twitter and X So we'll probably come back
and talk about this like a couple of months from
(01:35:52):
now when they have like new major announcement or like
a gameplay trailer. We'll come back to this, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:35:59):
So next up from Suatia Games comes a new story
driven adventure game called Opus prism Peak, which follows a
middle aged photojournalist who must use his old camera to
explore a world outside of his reality, uncover his mysteries
and find a new way home.
Speaker 4 (01:36:20):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:36:21):
And this is also what the the the thumbnail of
today's videos based off of. So I thought it was adorable.
Let's check out the trailer though, and just see what
this is all about.
Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
So I heard the voice of the protagonist, and now
it's like, this guy sounds familiar. He's a from Bleach,
oh okay, among other things, Like he's voiced a lot
of very notable roles the very So I think voice
acting is going to be like a huge part of
(01:36:56):
this game.
Speaker 3 (01:36:57):
Yeah, you know, and it's it's not an rpach, it's
a it's a story driven narrative adventure. So it's definitely
all about a story, maybe not very much or anything
in the way of combat, you know, just keep that
in mind. It's yeah, oh it looks very pretty though.
Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
You know, like I've been I've got to tell you,
like these are my pellic cleanser nowadays between long sessions
of RPGs, because these are like so far removed from
like RPG like John tropes E gives me, you know,
some room to really resets that part of my brain. Yeah,
and really reset. But it's also it usually typically it
(01:37:42):
tells a very good story and it really respects your time.
You can sit down and like maybe seven to eight
hours you can finish this escape play through of just
like a gorgeous story that yeah, just like a NonStop journey.
Those things are very much well in my book. And yes,
to your fine, there would be probably be no combat. Yeah,
(01:38:05):
but you're here for the story. It's a different experience,
and I would definitely recommend for folks to try these
things in between, you know, long games, just to give
yourself that refresh.
Speaker 3 (01:38:20):
It feels good, It feels good to play some of
these Definitely. One of the things that I really love
about RPGs is that the way that they are kind
of the culmination of a lot of different facets of
humanity and art, you know, from the compositions to the
(01:38:41):
writing to the cinematography. In addition, there's also the gameplay
and ending RPGs, there's the combat. But what I like
about a lot of these story driven narratives is that
they are also so many of those other things besides
the combat. You know, they still feel like the peak
(01:39:02):
of so many different kinds of artistry out there. So
that's one of the other reasons that I also have
a special spot in my heart for games like this
because they're also very condensed. Uh oh yeah, and they
can just give you a really big experience and a
short amount of time, and I love that. I don't
(01:39:23):
know about this one specifically, I haven't played it, but
but you know, it's worth looking into.
Speaker 2 (01:39:28):
Like a game like I don't know, not quite like this,
but it's oh shoot, I played this recently. It tells
the story of a person who tries to retrace his
mother's diaries to figure out what happened to her through
like it's like a point and click adventure game. And
(01:39:52):
I finished it on stream in like maybe five hours,
and it was just the most gorgeous game. And it
tells like a really like heartbreaking story, uh really really quickly.
But the thing that they do really well is because
there's no combat, right, because combat is like if you
(01:40:12):
have to there's some requirement that constitutes a combat, and
so there's you can.
Speaker 3 (01:40:20):
You can be for the conflict of some sort, right,
but in a conflict that comes to blows.
Speaker 2 (01:40:25):
And it forces you to have to set up that
conflict and have the gameplay be a certain way, whereas
if you remove that restriction if you will, you can
have a lot more gameplay elements that directly tells you
a story and be part of the mechanics. Uh. And
so to your point, like when you have combat, and
(01:40:46):
you can use that very effectively, but that becomes there
are certain things that are non negotiable, like there has
to be conflict, you have to be like this against
this situation. These games not the case and and or
maybe it is just for a small section of it,
just so you can like really put yourself into this
(01:41:07):
character and experience of life very quickly through the mechanics.
Every button that you click is already part of the
storytelling and it could be extremely effective. Highly recommended for
some of these games. What was that other game that
we've talked about for a while, the Indonesia one. I
keep getting a space mody inbound. Yeah, games like those
(01:41:28):
are just condensed storytelling too that I would definitely recommend.
So back to RPG sir, what did we have? We
have more rgs.
Speaker 4 (01:41:40):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
Following the success of the original game Everhood back in
twenty twenty one, developer Foreign Gnomes have announced that they
will be launching a sequel called wait for It, Everhood too.
It is an unconventionable, unconventional RP this year. So let's
(01:42:02):
let's take a look at Everhood two. You know, the
thing is I don't actually remember Everhood once, so this
is going to be new to me completely. Oh no,
we definitely talked about Everhood one before, you think, I.
Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
Think so well, did we not? No Everhood Everheard one
came out right before we started a hit point.
Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
I think that sounds right.
Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
I don't know, like m hm h just the funny stuff.
There's definitely a different kind of RPG. I I kind
(01:42:44):
of dig that. Mm hmmm. Not everything has to be
like a final fantasy thing, you.
Speaker 3 (01:42:51):
Know, everything has to be fine fantasy, everything must be
except a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:42:57):
Indie RPG that I see where it's this like good guy,
hear back guy here and dang you fight you tick
turn and you have commands and that's your that's your battle.
Like it doesn't have to be that way. You know.
There are many different things that you can do, and
this is one just example, and I think they're doing
it really well. I'm glad that there are games like this, Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:43:17):
Man, that looks kind of Guitar Hero estimidating I dig
it bullet helly, it's it's psychedelic, right, I'll talk to you.
Speaker 2 (01:43:25):
I was like, this, this definitely has some like a.
Speaker 3 (01:43:29):
Wait do you actually play this with the guitar Hero controller?
I wonder if, oh my god, dude, I would be dude,
that would be sick.
Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
I would.
Speaker 3 (01:43:37):
I would, I would bust it out. I would do it.
Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
Remember, I was like, this is like Mother and Undertelish,
but like more psychedelic, like like, yeah, this is Neighborhood.
Oh dude, I like that's sick.
Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
That is that is fun.
Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
I love it. Okay, Wow. So yeah, that's a that's
gonna be come out.
Speaker 3 (01:44:01):
This year here in March, March fourth, coming to switch
in PC the esteem you.
Speaker 2 (01:44:08):
Know what you want to hear an interesting tibbot. Sure.
Everhood one came out on March fourth. Oh oh purpose.
I don't know what the significant is of March fourth,
but I don't think it's a coincidence. But yeah, they're
(01:44:29):
releasing the second game exactly four years apart.
Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
Hey, why why not celebrate your you know, your your
original release date.
Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
I guess someone said Everhood one was great, We're a
psychedelic absurd and gave them existential crisis. That is all
the all love, yes, thank you, and welcome to our podcast.
All right, the last game and it happens the fall
(01:45:00):
me which is great because Derek has not really touched
the series and I am a huge fan, so this
works out. This was announced some time ago, but since
we never got to talk about it together, we aren't
adding it here. Model liftsoff announce that they will be
bringing Zeno Blade Chronicles X out of the WEIU, the
(01:45:21):
console that like barely anyone got to play, and onto
modern Nintendo platforms. This definitive edition will feature enhanced visuals,
new story elements, new characters, new mechs, and so much more.
Let's talk and look at that new trailer that they
had actually just released not too long ago. All right,
(01:45:43):
let's check it. A new trailer, not the announcement trailer.
New trailer.
Speaker 3 (01:45:52):
Yeah, for people like.
Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
Zeno gear, this is about as close as you're gonna
get to Zeno gear, you think, yeah, because you get
actually fighting.
Speaker 3 (01:46:01):
Oh oh yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:46:05):
Yeah, I never realized. For some reason, I never put
that together.
Speaker 2 (01:46:10):
So I play Zeno Blade Chronicles one through three and
absolutely adore the series, and so I am kind of
hoping that Zeno Blade X, which has very very lose
connection to one through three. I'm hoping the new story
(01:46:33):
element will rereccon some things and make a stronger connection,
is what I'm hoping that they will do. I don't
know that would be the case. A lot of people
point to like outside resources, and I've heard all those
arguments before, right like oh, did you read the whatever
(01:46:56):
book that they read and did you do this? No,
I want in game references like I don't need.
Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Sometimes you just want to know how they connect without
having to do homework show you know what I mean, Derek, Yeah,
you just don't have to do the homework.
Speaker 2 (01:47:11):
Like no, I just I don't media, and even in
those things, it's all speculative and just hints like wink wing,
you know, like no, I don't need wink wing. Tell
me if they are connected or no they you know,
like make it official. Stop being a coward, you know,
just do it. It's either they connect or they don't connect.
(01:47:32):
If they don't connect, that they don't connect, then that's okay.
But if they do, put your foot down and say yeah,
this is how they're connected. Boom, like heart lore.
Speaker 3 (01:47:41):
Yeah, like and when I enjoy a video game, I
want to like experience the story there, like don't don't
just make me go do something else?
Speaker 2 (01:47:50):
Like yeah, like, so we'll say this is some There's
a lot of questions that they didn't answer in Zeno
three that I'm hoping maybe the answers will be in here.
We don't know, I'm hoping.
Speaker 4 (01:48:14):
I'm really hoping that this is This is a very
pretty looking game of right, I wonder if this is
going to be Will you give it a shot?
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:48:28):
Well?
Speaker 3 (01:48:29):
I think what I would do is I'd probably play
through Zeno Blade one, two, three first, maybe one two
and then this, uh, because I think this came up
before Zeno Blade three.
Speaker 2 (01:48:42):
Yes, this came out before three. But does this even
connect to three? No one knows. Yeah, I don't know.
Their hints that they do, but but I think no,
no more hints, all right, just is either they do
or they don't.
Speaker 1 (01:48:55):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
Yeah that's cool.
Speaker 1 (01:48:59):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:49:00):
I think that at some point though, I do actually
want to start the Xeno Blade series in earnest.
Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
Uh. Zeno Blade one through three story is well, I
love one and two. Three left me with some desires
but it wasn't bad and it's good in its own way.
Maybe my expectation was too high maybe, but yeah, I'm
really looking forward to this because I never got a
(01:49:27):
we U, so I didn't get the experiences. But now
that it's out that we You hate, I.
Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
Have it on we You actually, uh, the number of
reasons to own a we you is reducing quickly. Oh yeah,
oh yeah, I guess that, you know, if you think
about it, this came out before Zeno Blade two even,
like because because Xeno Blade two didn't come out until Switch,
Zeno Blade one was the only one that came out
(01:49:52):
on Wii, and then we You was Xeno Blade Chronicles
that uh X.
Speaker 2 (01:49:57):
No, well yeah, I think Zeno Blake two came out
on the Switch, so yes, it must have been one
X and then two and then three.
Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:50:05):
Wow, gosh, my timeline was all wonky there for some reason.
But yeah, yeah, the number of reasons to own a
we You diminishes.
Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
By the day. Yeah, that is true.
Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
It's a pretty good week. It's at least a pretty
good WI so have that going for me.
Speaker 2 (01:50:27):
It's I still remember the day that I remember this
very clearly, the day that they announced the we you
and they showing off that big controller thing and I'm like,
so a day making a new controller thing for the
Wii and they're calling this thing do we you? I
(01:50:48):
didn't know it's the brand new system. I just thought
the controller, that whole thing that was the we you
and it enhances your existing Wii maybe, And I'm like,
I'm sure, I guess that's cool. You know, you can
look at the screen and you can play games in
different ways. And then they're like, no, just kidding. This
(01:51:08):
is a whole new system. No, no, no, there's a
whole new system. And they're like, oh, wow, dang you
really they really screamable job explaining what you're selling here.
So I think they're excuse me. I think they've learned
from that mistake. AnyWho, Uh this new game, Oh it's
coming out pretty soon. Oh my god, this is coming
(01:51:30):
out in March twentieth, really only on the switch.
Speaker 4 (01:51:37):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:51:37):
What I want to know and I'm curious about, is
is this going to come out with like enhanced features
for the switch.
Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
To So so here's the thing, is I did write
in the script like or is it? Because here's the thing,
like they mano lifts off works very closely with Nintendo obviously. Yeah,
there's no way that they're not already developing this also
(01:52:06):
for the switch To, which we will talk about right
after this, and this is coming out like late March.
We're expecting the switch To maybe in the middle of
the year. This is probably going to be one of
the launch title for the switch To, along with other
things like some Mario game to go with it. I'm
(01:52:27):
sure I would suspect that this will come out on
the switch To, like Native for that hardware, because that
would be smarter.
Speaker 3 (01:52:39):
So here's what I wonder and what I'm hoping is
that you know how when the game Boy was on
its way out and the game Boy Color was on
its way in, there was a select handful of games
that was released for game Boy, but when you got
a game Boy Color, they were enhanced by the game
(01:53:00):
Boy color functionality, like Pokemon red, blue, yellow, perfect example
of that, especially yellow. I think where it was. You know,
people bought it for a game Boy. You know it
was perfect on game Boy. You plug it into a
game Boy Color though, and then all of a sudden
it just has the information needed to be able to
(01:53:22):
make it super cool on this console. Also, so I
wonder if like there's gonna be it'd be really nice
if there was some overlap of games released in the
you know, ending window of the switch that just you
plug it into a switch to and it's like, oh, hey,
switch to. Yeah, here, here's some enhanced features because it
(01:53:46):
was developed with these in mind.
Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
That would be great, but that would be a buff
and beyond, and I have very little faith in corporate.
Speaker 3 (01:53:56):
Yeah at this point, I agree, But it would be
so easy to also implement where you plug it in
and then it's like, hey, there's would you like to
download the enhanced features for this game for Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:54:09):
Yeah, easy nowadays because you can pass way too. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:54:13):
Yeah, it doesn't even have to be on the cartridge
anymore at that point, Like, it'd be really cool, though,
But do I trust and it's gonna be on a
company by company basis. I feel like though with Nintendo
there ought to be. I have the expectation that they'll
(01:54:33):
treat their customers, right, That's that's my expectation of them,
that they'll do it. But it's up to them to
disappoint me if they want to.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
That's fair. Yeah. So having said that, I am probably
not gonna get the Switch exclusive game until the Switch
two comes out. Oh yeah, I'm done buying Switch games
for now. At this point, I'm done buying Switch games.
I'm sorry for any games. They're just coming exclusive on this. No,
we would to switch to you kidding me. My backlog
(01:55:05):
is like, yeah, you don't have to buy a single
game for the next three years. You can keep playing
and you're still not going to make a dent in
this in this backlog. So yeah, I'm not in a
hurry to buy a new game for a system that's
on his way out. I'm not even in a hurry
to buy the Switch to period, which is the next thing.
(01:55:27):
So maybe we can just look at the switch too,
because it's officially announced. It is official. We know it's
going to be coming. But oh, there's what the switch
to looks like. I am very concerned about the controller,
the new controller.
Speaker 4 (01:55:44):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:55:49):
I know there's some people.
Speaker 3 (01:55:50):
I was actually at a game stop earlier today and
they're already scaremongering people into like buying the warranties when
they come out. They're like, oh, yeah, you know, you're
definitely gonna get the protection pro grim on this because
you know, this is made for cureds and they're definitely
going to break off that little tab inside. I'm I
got a feeling, well it's it's maybe not GameStop itself,
(01:56:13):
but the is the douche behind the counter who's trying
way too hard.
Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
That's fair.
Speaker 3 (01:56:18):
He seriously, dude was wearing a three piece suit today, Like,
what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
Game stop?
Speaker 3 (01:56:24):
So here? Yeah, there is that connector, and I think
I've seen some speculation and I think it would make
sense that the inside of the switch is rubberized, like
it's a rubber sleeve over the connector and it should
have some play in it, so hopefully it won't be
(01:56:45):
like one of those things where like, oh you drop
it wrong and it just breaks off the tab like that. Yeah,
it's probable because that could be a that could pretty
easily be a little flexible ribbon cable.
Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
This pike can magnetic. Oh yeah they're they're magnetic.
Speaker 3 (01:57:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
So I mean so the whole thing with the switch
to for me, first of all, a huge disappointment that
they're not calling this the Nintendo super Switch.
Speaker 3 (01:57:16):
I agree, huge misopportunity.
Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
Disappointment, misupen Yeah, switch to is boring, like call it
the super switch. What are you doing?
Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
But you know, well, at least it's not the switch
you the new switch you or something will switch you
switch you new Nintendo switch.
Speaker 2 (01:57:33):
So okay, so this part is the only thing that
is interesting for me, which is uh, the fact that
it is well, I mean we we we sort of
speculated that that would be the case, but we're getting
hard confirmation it is backwards compatible. You don't have to
speculate anymore. But also, there will be switch to game
exclusive of course there is. So this is going to
(01:57:56):
function more or less like the DS and the three DS. Yep,
you know that's That's what I'm picking up. Yeah, which
is which is great, Like I'm all for it. The
form factor, we more or less like already know that
it's gonna be that same kind of form factor. It's worked.
There's no reason for them to change, especially because the
(01:58:17):
games that can be backwards compatible they have to more
or less keep like similar form factor and controllers and playability.
That's all good. It's just like an upgraded switch. The
real question is what's under the hood, because that's all
we are really asking at this point is what's suspect?
Tell us the spect what like, you know, what kind
(01:58:38):
of you things can you push out?
Speaker 3 (01:58:39):
Like did you see LTT's video on it?
Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
I did not.
Speaker 3 (01:58:43):
It's worth watch. It's worth a watch. They they do
talk about so they essentially have cross referenced various leakers
and their accuracy against different other leaks that like the
things that have been confirmed, they've you know, and they
basely backtracked and uh and put together an image or
(01:59:05):
an idea of what those specs are at this point
based off of the accuracy of other leaks.
Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
Uh. And yeah, it's it's good.
Speaker 3 (01:59:14):
I mean it looks good like it looks maybe PS
four ish plush PS four. Uh, you know, raster abilities
with some what was it the uh, the rt X
lighting kind of style.
Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
What's that called U shoots?
Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
I know, uh, ray trace, that's it ray tracing. Yes,
it took me a minute, but I got there. So yeah,
a little bit of ray tracing ability probably nothing crazy.
Apparently it's going to have some next gen U invent
encoding abilities, which is which is interesting because why would
(01:59:56):
I switch need that. Some people speculate that it's because
you can passed to the DOC and have like a
two screen operation thing that would be pretty sweet, but.
Speaker 2 (02:00:07):
I still wish that they would, you know, in order
to keep the the thing that I wish that they
had for the original switch, which is like the technology
to have like new graphics like upscale er that you
can like put that is.
Speaker 3 (02:00:25):
One of the other things is that it looks like
it has some maybe AI cores in it for upscaling,
so in video, DLS, DLSS and video has that like
frame gen doc a laptop in and just utilize like
fireball to a thunderbolt to a graphics card that you
(02:00:45):
can upgrade like whenever you want.
Speaker 2 (02:00:47):
The technology is there. I'm not saying they should implement
it that way where you can just like put in
like an Nvidio graphics card, although it would be very
sick if they can do that. But there could be
other implementation that I can image Nintendo be like, Okay,
here's a new like graphics like DOC thing that I
can sell you for if you really want like a
(02:01:07):
graphics upgrade only for the doc mode. Anyway I can
imagine that. Yeah, in any case, like this is pretty
much all that we have expected, So no crazy revelation here.
We just need some confirmations from the Mephis point of
what it can do, and it's still probably gonna sell
(02:01:29):
like hotcakes. I don't think it's suddenly not going to
sell well. The switch is just kind of a crowd
favorite with all that great first ips, and I.
Speaker 3 (02:01:39):
Think it's going to take a while for people to
migrate over. Some people have bought multiple switches just for
you know, each other, kids. People have bought multiple switches
for the various collectors colors and stuff, and I don't
know if they're gonna, uh, you know, rocket forward, because
they have I mean, granted, the switch does show its age,
(02:02:02):
but uh yeah, it'd be interesting to see what.
Speaker 2 (02:02:04):
There would be the early adapters though, Like I feel
like you'll have early adapters like the hardcore like Marvel
E Selder fans, like they're not going to not buy it,
like the new Zelda's on the Switch too expensive.
Speaker 3 (02:02:18):
As a video game reviewer, I I'm not gonna not
buy it because I have to have it right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:23):
So I'm definitely on demographics where we're yeah, we're the
wrong demographics. We're gonna get this like extremely early, just
just so we have it. But yeah, but I'm gonna
I'm gonna buy it.
Speaker 3 (02:02:35):
Early and I will and I will be disappointed when
they come out with the switch to pro in three
years or whatever, and just like, just like with PS five,
I'm like, I got the new hotness and then they
have a newer version before they even have any real
console seller games for it.
Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
Anyways, I bought the PS five just so I have
it if I needed it for any kind of It.
Speaker 3 (02:02:56):
Is to be fair. PS five is a really good
PS four It really is a very good.
Speaker 2 (02:03:05):
That's that's what it is. But I met I'm at
that point in my life where like if I have
a great if I don't have it, it's whatever. I
have so many other things. My backlog is again like
three years deep, Like I don't just three years my
deep as my burial plot like it's I mean, it's
(02:03:28):
it's more things, but those I've kind of given up on.
Three years is the backlook. I haven't given up on yet. Okay, okay,
beyond three years I've given up, and I keep buying
new games like it's an addiction, you guys get it is.
It's a hobby. Though it's a hobby.
Speaker 3 (02:03:44):
They're buying games and collecting games are related, but two
different hobbies or playing games and collectings.
Speaker 2 (02:03:52):
Sorry, those are the jeez, well AnyWho, that's the switch to.
And the next piece of industry news is something that
we've touched on but we never really got into talking
about because it was just all kinds of rumors and stuff.
So this is of course have to do with cuttlecoa corporation,
(02:04:17):
and also the Sony Group. There were talks about like
you know, a Baiou and then there are all these
like internal rumors that get leaked and stuff, nothing concrete
that we can ever talk about, right because it's just
all speculations and rumors. Well, now we can really talk
(02:04:37):
about it because now there are things that are set
in stone. So let's talk about it. What are we
what are we going on about? So Cuttlekowa, for people
who don't know, is a huge corporation in Japan that
has many different subsidiaries dealing with like manga and different ips,
and they do a lot of translations, localization, and there's
(02:05:00):
a whole bunch of things that they do and it's
this huge corporation. So the story has it and now
kind of confirm, is that there was some kind of
hostile takeover attempt from Korea and so obviously they don't
want this huge culturally important corporation because they hold so
(02:05:24):
many ips that are you know, the thing about Japan
is that a lot of their identities now is tied
to like anime and manga. So it's not, you know,
crazy to say that these things are now tied directly
to part of like the diplomacy even right. So Thailand,
(02:05:46):
and we've talked about this, Thailand has gastro like diplomacy, yeah, right,
where they open restaurants in Thai restaurants even in places
where there's very small Thai population. The government will help fund,
set you up, give you all the recipe, get you
all the help because it helps sell their country's image
(02:06:07):
and a boost tourism. It's all kinds of stuff. Japan
has something similar, but it's through these kind of cultural exchange, right,
and one of their important cultural product is all these
games and animes. It seems crazy, but it's true. A
lot of people know Japan through anime before they even
(02:06:29):
know about what the actual country is like, right, that's
like their first thing. So it's not overstepping to say,
like a company that hosts so many important ips is
it's not only culturally important, but like it actually ties
to their security as part of their diplomacy, so it
reaches up to the upper echelon of the government. Even
(02:06:52):
for such an important takeover. It's not just like another company, right, Yeah,
so Career try to buy it out and then and
so I think Sony probably were reached out to try
to help out, and you know, Katoko was like, Okay,
you've got to buy us out, and Sony's like, Nabro,
I don't want to buy you out. And then they're like, well,
(02:07:12):
we're not selling you part of the company. What Sony
wanted to do was buy only part of the company
that they need and just be like yeah, no, the
rest of them I don't need. Like I'm not spending
all this money buying stuff I don't need. I don't care. Well,
you finally reached an agreement. An agreement is that Sony,
effective in early this month, won't buy in control roughly
(02:07:36):
ten percent of Katakoa, including things that they've a bought previously,
would make them the largest shareholder, would effectively give them
the defense that Katakoad need against future hostile takeover, but
at the same time stop people from worrying that Sony
is going to be like the new Microsoft, because that's
(02:07:58):
all I've ever seen. While the saga played out on Twitter,
people are like, oh no, Sony's gonna buy Cutta Co.
Oh no, They're gonna like close down all these things.
They're gonna ruin it. Oh my god, Well there you go.
Sony is not Sony is the major shareholder, yes, but
Sony is also not like owning this whole thing. They
can't just go in and just shut everything down and like,
(02:08:20):
you know, run the nothing they would want to, I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:08:24):
On their plan.
Speaker 2 (02:08:25):
Yeah. Japanese corporations got their own business very differently than
like an American corporation in very key ways, and in
that they try not to slash and burn things where
it's like EA or Microsoft the world they're like, yeah,
they'll close you down and be like yeah, sorry, get
out of here, you know, like that's business is business. Uh.
Japanese is a little different. They do things a little differently,
(02:08:47):
uh in key ways. So they typically are more hands off.
Uh in these kind of like m and a situation. Uh.
We've seen other merger acquisitions and those companies just kind
of functions us. They were as if like nothing even happened. Well,
why like We're not used to seeing that kind of
behavior because in the Western world maybe like we used
(02:09:07):
to seeing like the EA and Microsoft kind of behavior.
Not saying that they never happen, but it's rare compared
to their Western counterpart. So fear not. This is about
the best outcome. You know, they're able to defend themselves
from a hostile takeover. Sony is not completely concerning Katukaa.
Is you know, doing business as usual. Everyone wins. And
(02:09:29):
here's the thing. I think Sony is actually benefiting quite
a bit from Katakoa's like expertise too, because that's something
that Sony lacks is these like international localization and publishing efforts.
So this is only going to help them like boaster
their like you know, multimedia projects in the future. I
(02:09:50):
think awesome because that's what a lot of companies are
trying to do. They want like good They're only two
ways that they can get like a cash cowist. Either
you have a Gensen impact where you live service and
just have people keep welling over things, or you have
a successful multi media project where people are spending a
(02:10:12):
ton of money on different things because they couldn't get
enough of it at the skill you're talking about at
the skill, you're never to support a multimedia project because
at least they're selling you things that's not like random
blind box gambling. Yeah, right, in my in my view, yeah,
so I'd rather have that.
Speaker 3 (02:10:31):
But to be clear, you're just saying to have that
amount of profit at the scale that is meaningful to Sony,
not like like fel Com for instance. They don't have
to do those things because they're small enough that a
moderately successful game is really successful for them. Yes, yeah,
for something someone like Sony, like they're gonna want like
(02:10:52):
big numbers. Yeah, they're gonna want they got they got
five hundred million they need to make up.
Speaker 2 (02:11:00):
So this cost them three hundred and twenty million US dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:11:04):
By the way, oh so less than the cost of
that game that they made one million on Concord Concord.
So hey, so hey, you know, as long as they
make a million, they'll be happy.
Speaker 2 (02:11:17):
As long as they make a million, that's already a
better investment than Concord.
Speaker 3 (02:11:23):
Yeah, and I'm sure they will.
Speaker 2 (02:11:24):
I think the level of expertise, of domain expertise that
they will now get through Cutacoa is very valuable in
their existing operation it's one of those things that has
good synergy with their core business. So I'm actually looking
forward to Sony hopefully smart enough to make use of
(02:11:46):
those and try to push out better content and maybe
have good ips like good first person I don't know,
like Sony, that's one thing that's like PlayStation doesn't really have, right,
like strong first first party games, right, I don't know.
(02:12:08):
Maybe they can learn.
Speaker 3 (02:12:10):
I would love for them to come out with a
new legend of Dragoon.
Speaker 2 (02:12:14):
Well, astro Boy was successful.
Speaker 3 (02:12:16):
That It's true. Astro Boy did do some really good
numbers there.
Speaker 2 (02:12:20):
I think that is the real sting to them, and
hopefully they learned after losing that whole Concord deal. You
know what's their biggest win after Concord astro astro astro
just astro astro. It's not astro boys, Astro astro bought,
astro bought. I think it's an astro boy astro bot. Yeah,
(02:12:41):
And that was their biggest win, Sony's biggest win. It
was after the whole Concord deal. Was astrobot like just
ten out of ten, ten out of ten, ten out
of ten, ten out of ten, ten out of ten.
Review all across the board. Everyone loved the game. It
was like the indie Darning except it's like non indie game.
Speaker 3 (02:12:59):
Yeah, and it's it's Sony's Mario essentially because that was
the back end from the PS five.
Speaker 2 (02:13:05):
That's why effectively astroplot. Thank you, Yes, so you have
conferenced Astroplot. And yeah, Astro Boy is the original like
anime from like nineteen thirty or whatever. That's a different
different ip sorry, one letter off. Why and t they
look so similar and capita ye yeah, so hopefully they
(02:13:25):
learned their lesson. But all right, we're now moving on
to the last piece of news for industry, and this
one is funny and I will probably explain this one too,
because Derek has just learned about this. I thought this
thing is hilarious.
Speaker 3 (02:13:41):
Anything I say about this is just regurgitating Baku, but badly,
so take it away Baku.
Speaker 2 (02:13:46):
All right. So Toho, the people who do like dragon Ball,
like movies and stuff, announced that they will be making
a live action adaptation of the Infinite Loop Escape game.
Speaker 3 (02:13:58):
Now that's toto h o not.
Speaker 2 (02:14:04):
Like U h o U.
Speaker 3 (02:14:05):
Yeah yeah, not the not the game series, but the.
Speaker 2 (02:14:08):
Different sorry, go ahead, no different, different, total different to
uh so we can take a look at the trailer
really quick. There's nothing. Yeah, I don't think we'll get
in trouble watching this one, all right, Yeah, let's check
out the music. Just talking. So yeah, so this is
(02:14:31):
the trailer for uh, the Exit eight. I don't know
if anyone has ever seen the game to Exit eight before. Effectively,
what this game is like is you are just starting
in the middle of what looks like a regular Japanese
(02:14:54):
like metro station, and you go through this hallway with
the same men that will pass you every time, and
if you see any kind of anomaly, you have to
run backwards to progress the game. But if there's no anomaly,
you move forward to progress the game. So you start
(02:15:16):
from exit zero and you move all the way to
exit eight. If you ever mess up, you start an
Exit zero again, and any kind of like anomaly or
lack of anomaly is completely randomized, and you don't know
what you'll run into, and the same men will keep
coming every time you see. It's gonna be the same guy,
(02:15:39):
except maybe his face is messed up, maybe he's smiling
instead of not smiling. Maybe he's holding the uh, you know,
his his bag on the left hand instead of the
right hand. You know, maybe he's just stopped, maybe he
just stands right in front of you like that, that's
the anomaly. But you don't know the anomaly. So you
go in completely blind. You don't know what the baseline is.
(02:16:03):
You don't know what the anom you figure it out,
that's it's a that's weird. So how long does it
take to complete a normal play through of that? Like
I the first time I played the game without knowing anything,
completely blind, I think I spent like an hour and
a half to try to play it. Yeah, because I
keep running into anomalies that I didn't know was an anomaly,
(02:16:26):
or I miss something that it completely Sometimes they have
very small anomalies. Sometimes they have really big anomalies.
Speaker 3 (02:16:33):
Is that is it okay to take your time? Like
is it okay to like take your time and like
inspect everything.
Speaker 2 (02:16:38):
There's no there's no time limit, Okay, cool, you take
your time. You have had to move forward, move backwards,
just your choice. But once you make that choice, that's it.
Speaker 3 (02:16:48):
And how far do you have to go for it
to be considered a backwards move?
Speaker 2 (02:16:53):
Like like if you again, I'm in the middle, like
be so like you move on, and it will tell
you like which exit you in or which exit you're
moving towards. Yeah, and as soon as you can see
that number, or even remotely closed to see that number,
you've already made the choice. Like the game, okay, by
(02:17:14):
walking past a certain point, you make the choice. Okay,
but the game looks very seamless, so you don't exactly
know what point that is. It's a brilliant games, the
brilliant concept. So much so that this game actually spawned
a whole series of infinite loop escape games. There are
many different games in this genre. Now, this was the
(02:17:36):
first one. But there's like one with like an escalator.
There's one with like a hospital with like that you
can play with your other friends. There's like a four
people version with like seventy floors. It's all kinds of things,
but it all started with this. It looks kind of fun. Honestly,
I kind of want to try it. You should. I
mean these again, these are indie games that I like
(02:17:57):
to spend my time on because this is like new idea,
this is brand new. This is you know, something that
no one thought to do, and then they did it,
and did you cute it? Well?
Speaker 3 (02:18:07):
Did you ever play the Stanley Parable. I did, okay,
and I loved it.
Speaker 2 (02:18:12):
I loved it, and it was giving me some of
those vibes a little bit ago. I haven't played a
new one. I only played an old one. I have
the new one. I never played it. They added a
bunch of things in a new one. How new I
mean it? I mean it's not that new, but I
played like the old one, like the original mod as
(02:18:32):
opposed to like the retail game mod. Yeah, okay, that
the new Stanley Parable came out in twenty thirteen.
Speaker 3 (02:18:41):
Okay, so it's not Yeah, so it's not bad new okay,
just making sure I didn't miss something.
Speaker 2 (02:18:46):
Like even older than twenty thirteen. Yeah, okay, Yeah, yeah,
I told you right, I'm oh oh, no, I I
met the guy. Actually twenty eleven was the original one.
Oh okay, okay, and in twenty thirteen's new one. Yeah,
but it does sound familiar that we talked about Stanley
Parable before. Yes, well, no, I met the I met
(02:19:09):
the guy who made the game.
Speaker 3 (02:19:11):
Yeah, I think you. I remember you telling me about that.
Speaker 2 (02:19:13):
I met Macfest of all places. Wow. Yeah, and you're
going to Macfest and I'm going to Macfest. That's true.
We're coming full circle now may we're doing the week.
Let me see how much the Exit eight is. The
Exit eight is seven bucks.
Speaker 3 (02:19:29):
It's a little rich for my blood. And also there's
a VR version you play this.
Speaker 2 (02:19:35):
Oh no, no, no, no, let me take it back. Sorry, sorry,
let me rephrase that. The XIT eight is four dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:19:42):
Oh, now you're talking about our version is seven dollars.
Speaker 4 (02:19:45):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:19:45):
Okay, yeah, but the original Exit eight four bucks. You
can experience this game four dollars on Steam right now.
It's a pretty interesting thing to experience, given that it's
spawned a whole new genre of games that I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:20:00):
If I want to play that in VR. I think
that seems creepy as heck. But maybe that's.
Speaker 2 (02:20:05):
Probably super creepy. Oh god, but you can try it on,
you know, your VR headset. Maybe maybe, oh.
Speaker 3 (02:20:12):
Maybe not on stream, though, I think that would it
be weird to do a stream and like have me
like wearing my my oculous question like you can't even
see my face. I think that would be weird.
Speaker 2 (02:20:22):
I think a lot of people enjoy watching like a
VR stream because your reaction is wholly different than just
playing the regular version. It's not really to see the
game at that point, is to see how you react
to the game. Oh god, yeah, but you can't even
see my eyes. You can't even see the fear in
my eyes. If I'm wearing a headset. It's okay, you'll
(02:20:44):
be streaming sine okay. But yeah, no, this game is
really cool. So I just wanted to run the story because, like,
I cannot believe they're making a whole movie out of this,
though I know that's weird. Yeah, yeah, never mind, it's
a cool game. I I I praise this game. It's
a really cool game. I had fun with it. But
making a whole movie out of this is kind of
(02:21:06):
a stretch, a whole, full featured length film.
Speaker 3 (02:21:09):
Hey base. On the one hand, on the one hand, sure, yes,
that is a stretch. But on the other hand, how
how much do you think it would cost to make
this movie? You know what, You're right, because it's probably
gonna cost them nothing to do this. Practically nothing. You
have you have like one person, you have, you have
(02:21:30):
one hallway that you have to rent it for a day.
You record there for eight hours with one dude, and
like a camera operator, like you sell you sell like, uh,
you know, one hundred ten thousand copies and you've made
your profit back.
Speaker 2 (02:21:45):
Well, the cost is probably with the CG. I think
the CG is probably where is that Because there's gonna
be like random flood that comes out.
Speaker 3 (02:21:52):
You're you're assuming, you're assuming that there's gonna be CG.
Speaker 2 (02:21:56):
That's fair. Yeah, you don't.
Speaker 3 (02:21:57):
You don't know what the anomalies are gonna be. H
and they're all going to be really lame and easy.
Speaker 2 (02:22:06):
It's all for the memes, right, So if they can't
watch it anywhere and I will hate it, but it
doesn't matter. I made my money back. That was the
whole point.
Speaker 3 (02:22:14):
It's it's actually you don't know this. They didn't they
didn't say this, but it's actually going to be directed
by Tommy Wusso it's a sequel to the Room.
Speaker 2 (02:22:20):
It's the Hall. Oh no, oh no, it's eight.
Speaker 3 (02:22:28):
To the Room with the hole the Hall.
Speaker 2 (02:22:32):
Oh my, Well it's gonna be a cult classic then great. Yeah, yeah,
I did not see any anomalies. I did not that
you're killing me. You're actually killing me.
Speaker 3 (02:22:47):
You're terribly apart. Oh god, all right, guys, with that
BUCKU was dying. We need to probably call it a night. Well,
in a second, I have I have one thing left
to say, uh in the or super chats that we
