H p L D Project presents Holy Snookes, the Star
Wars Podcast featuring PLD and Mattie Gunner. May the Force

(00:21):
be with you always.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yah, what's up everybody, and welcome back to Holy Snookes.
I'm your host p L. D.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
This is a Maddie and last episode today as we
are going by news of the past month. It is
your first time here, like subscribe all that good stuff
comments later on, tell us what you think of all
these stories we're going to talk about. The five star
rating is on the old audio side of things. If
you can always help us out. But today we're gonna
be talking about the news of the past months. Part
of our new ongoing shall we say profile or a

(01:19):
format of Holy Snokes. Every other week we're going to
go on a different journey. You're going to have the
news taking place on one week, and then the next
week we'll do or the next episode will be something
more thematically related, as it were. Maddie has been in
charge of the thematic related things. We've had him talking
about Kurtis how which is great already up on this channel.
The next thematic one we're going to do is going

(01:41):
to be tackling Michael Clayton as a kind of a
Holy Snokes adjacent as it were, Tony Gilroy of Cores
being the genius behind Michael Clayton, and a lot of
people talked about Michael Clayton when bringing up and Doors.
We're kind of watching Michael Klayton kind of bringing it
up and compare it in contrast to his work on
Star Wars for sure, love that aspect. And also then

(02:03):
the upcoming is also we're gonna be talking about the
upcoming lego pieces of the past, rebuilding the galaxy. That's
gonna be our next episode. So yeah, we keep pushing
back Michel clay Mike Clinton supposed to be like two
episodes ago. Then it's supposed to be next, but then
we have to the reviews in there as well, so
it will be not next, but a month from now.
Will cover Michael Clayton as we get into things, and

(02:24):
of course to start war Vision season three is coming.
It's goon as well. We're definitely gonna tackle that. I'm
not sure if we're going to tackle that all in
one go. Maybe possibly have to see all episodes of
one going, maybe split it up a little bit, give
us attle extra content as it were. But yeah, so welcome,
welcome to the channel, Welcome to the show. This is
the news from our last episode was July, end of July,

(02:46):
so all of August or got a bunch of news
to kind of talk about. Mention, bring up, go through.
I'm gonna go through the biggest stuff and lets us
kind of stay away from the fluff news as where
we can talk about the major news and go from there.
And now, you know what, let's just get right into
it without further do. Star Wars a new hope is

(03:08):
returning to the theaters in twenty twenty seven, the fiftieth anniversary.
I expected this. I think everybody expected this at some point.
Of course, the Big five Oho is going to have
the debut of Starfighter as well the new Star Wars movie,
but we have to go back one time at least
for the original. The original. It's gonna be screening on

(03:29):
April thirtieth, just a few weeks after Star Wars Celebration
returnings to la and just a few weeks before Starfighter
comes out, starting Ryan Gosling. And that is the first
of supposedly many different surprises we're going to get for
the golden Anniversary quote star Wars dot Com. Part of
the looms year long fiftieth anniversary celebration Star Wars and

(03:50):
New Hope of play in theaters over the May of
the fourth holiday, also known as Star Wars Day. We've
had a bunch of remakes or sorry, re releases in
the theaters as of recently. Revenge of the Sith was
recently released, did very well. The Phantom Menace was released
and did pretty well. Hell in twenty twenty four, All nine,
Skyle and Carsaga returned to the theaters for May fourth,
so that's kind of a fun thing as well. The

(04:10):
big question I have, and the big question I think
anybody should have about this, is what version of a
New Hope are we going to be getting on the
big screen if this or any other year, if there
were any other time, I would say we're getting the
special dish. There's no reason we would not get the

(04:31):
special edition Chorge lcause paniously put the original back of
the vault. This is the only ones available now, that's
what they are putting out there. That's the ones on
Disney Plus. So that would be the case. However, there
have been a few kind of wrinkles or developments that
make me wonder if it might not be the original

(04:53):
this time around. George has been gone from the company
for a few years now, obviously over twelve or ten,
almost fifteen actually by the time this comes about, So
is it time to kind of branch away from Lucas's
wishes initial desires? Has Lucas himself softened on it? The
fact that it's the fiftieth anniversary, and the biggest I'd

(05:15):
say it's our evidence to me was we did have
that earlier screening this year in the UK, which was
the original print. It was the first time the BFI's
Film Festival was treated to a screening of the original
unaltered nineteen seventy seven print, the first time since Lucasfilm
had acquired Disney in twenty twelve, since Disney acquired Lucasfilm,

(05:37):
should say in twenty twenty twelve. So I mean Kathleen
Kennedy made the appearance there. We wanted to make sure
everyone knew that it was authorized, et cetera. Wasn't a
bootleg copy. It was the original print. So if you
put it out for the Film Festival, is a fiftieth
anniversary at time we could see the original back on
the screen. I hope, so hope. So I'm not one

(05:59):
of those purist I hate the special edition. I'm not
sure who are If you might be, your miles may
vary on that. But if it is the special edition,
that's fine, it's fun. But the reason why I like
to see it is because it's not available. We can't
see it on our own. We can see the special
edition any tell me want on our own big screen
TVs at home. They get to see the fiftieth anniversary.

(06:21):
You get to see the original got a version on
the screen, like hopefully restored in a way. It's like
weeks look beautiful. I mean, that's something worth talking about,
that's something worth probing about, that's something worth doing, I think.
So I would love to see it to be the
fifty anniversary, to have the original cut. Do we get it,
I'd say argue, we got about a twenty five percent

(06:44):
chance about happening. I do think that, whereas which is
our paramount to many people in Lucasfilm, I do think
that it's easier for them to put out the already
produce copy. But again I go back to that twenty
five percent might be bumping up more and more as
I think about it, because I do think that if
they're gonna have the unaltered print, they are gonna have

(07:06):
Kathleen Kennedy do it. I want to work on it.
Maybe they have it ready to go. I wouldn't she
use it? Wouldn't she use it? Maybe pressure from within
will go the other way and maybe we will actually
get the uncut version. Love to see it. Would absolutely
love to see a release on Blu ray of the
original uncut version as well. They'd be nice to have.
I didn't like that have both copies. I think there's

(07:27):
pros and cons to have it both. Obviously the original art,
like art, should be treated as a historical object, and
that's what it was. George Lewis's decision to say the
movie wasn't truly finished and that he wants to tweak
it absolutely his right. As on artists this week it
I actually enjoy some of the t weeks a clunky.
There's some things in the actually do like. Obviously, there's
some things that are jokes down the Han shooting Grido

(07:49):
shooting first, Han shooting first, the big jokes, but Flunky
is kind of a joke now there. But there are
some cool things that are pretty well done, and quite frankly,
I would argue that the special editions have made it
more accessible to younger fans. I think that like they
kind of cleaned it up, made it look better so
that it actually deals like a newer movie in a way.

(08:10):
But I think that's not a bad thing for the
young audience. To reach the young audience. However, there's the
argument about historical art, of historical significance. This was the
film that was released, this with a film that changed everything,
Why do you change it? And I get that too,
So my answer is, please you get this is the
time you can please everyone. Make both, make both available,

(08:32):
and I would say for the fiftie anniversary, you put
the original one in because it hasn't been on screen
for a long time, and it hasn't been available for
a long time, So that's the one you go for.
But your mouths may vary, all right. Next up news
we got there. Disney announces a new deal with web
Tune and original Marvel and Star Wars titles and more
on the way. I don't know much about web Tune.

(08:54):
I know that they're kind of I say new, but
they're a company that basically does digital comics, and not
in the old fashioned might pan alway, which is like
a comic Solends or anything else. They do kind of
a scrolling thing, which I know Marvel Unlimited has done
as well, and it's basically a lot of the original
Star Wars that I also know Jason Aarons twenty fifteen
Star Wars is going to be on there, and that's fine,

(09:14):
that's cool. I'm interested in, of course, in new contents
that they're going to have new original Star Wars content.
I might have to get it because I try to
be a basically a completest can curb me talk on
Holy snokes, you've seen that I've talked very often about
my Cannon read through, my Legends read through that I've
been doing. I've actually started doing big projects on that.
I might have something to update the site or the

(09:36):
channel on. Eventually, I might do some kind of big
special one day with a reading order of the viewing
order I've done. I'm kind of making up my own
viewing order. I want to go too far into it
now because I want to see how I want to
present it, but there might be something coming as of that.
Right now I am reading. I'm kind of insane if
people call me crazy, and I get it. I have
four things I'm reading, order Wise and Star Wars. I

(09:58):
was reading the Canon and Legends read throughs where I was.
I started them again because I had this new idea
and concept of how I wanted to do the order
and some character arcs and things of that nature. I'm
kind of reading them again. I don't mind. I love it.
In fact, I get to read more Star Wars than Better,
so it's very cool. All right. Next up in the

(10:18):
news docket, we did some of this is gonna be
old to you guys, perhaps because it's quite frankly, it's
been month, so I'm just kind of cover all these
topics that were news in the last month. We had
the you and McGregor controversy, as it were, is he
or is he not going to be in a season two?
Big news was made when he appeared on stage with

(10:39):
Hayden Christensen and it was reported that he said, we
are starting to film season two. Oh am, I supposed
to say that well, and then it came out it
was clarified that he said, well, it was what he
actually had said was what I like watching my wife,
you know, so I really enjoyed Ahsoka. I thought that
was brilliantly done. It's so funny, like, you know, she's
shooting the second season now, and I know it is

(11:00):
not a secret. So he said, he's talking about his
wife obviously the Great Era, playing the Great Era Mary
Elyzbith Winstead, of course. But you know, I can't cancel
that idea out from my head completely. I do think
this was a case where you know, everything was blown
out of proportion, and do you believe he was probably
talking about his wife and Hara. But there was another

(11:24):
thing comments he made at one point where he said
he was watching the Clone Wars all the Clone Wars
as quote unquote a homework. Now, the rumor was, we
obviously had the rumor of Ahsoka season two coming that
you Regretter would be in with Hayden Christiansen. Hayden christians
already announced, already confirmed, and as we saw it in
season one of Ahsoka, Hayden Christensen was in it in

(11:45):
flashback form kind of it was in the worn between worlds,
but a lot of it was flashbacks to Clone Wars
era Soka and Anakin, and we got to see Hayden
Grichidson in the Clone Wars get up for Anakin, which
is great, So a season two if that's the case again,
maybe we're getting more flashbacks, and that was kind of
the rumor. The flashbacks with this time include McGregor's OVERI

(12:08):
one can nervy, and that matched up with some of
the things he said. He said he wants to appear
in a Clone Wars armor, he would love to do
that at some point, and he's watching Clone Wars for homework.
I mean, I don't know what does that mean? Do
necessarily mean he's definitely all over the news. Heal he's
been mentioning in one season two. He's been talking about
during an and or a season three. Although I think

(12:28):
that was little facetious. People kind of take these things
at a phase value. I think he just really liked
and or wouldn't mind getting that kind of quality content
with over one attached to us. That makes sense. But
the quick and easy fact is something came out, he
said something. It was then retracted and recontextualize. So as

(12:49):
of right now, you and Regregor is not officially in.
Because season two, your miles may be vary. You might
believe differently, and it's possible that it is different We
have some scowers, including Christian Harloff, who I've worked for,
I've produced for. He has stated he put that out
there first way back when that You and Gretor was
in season two, and he stands by that, and he

(13:11):
actually used this as a kind of confirmation in and
of itself. I don't know whenever I know it official confirmation.
It's made official statement by Lucasfilm, by Disney, by you
and McGregor, or when we see him on screen in
Asso season two. Sometimes in twenty twenty six. In all right,
next up, we have Disney and Gina Corano have settled

(13:32):
the wrongful termination loss to quote, Walt Disney Company and
Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an
agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in repending
lawsuit against the companies. Miss Corana was always well respected
by her director, as co stars, and staff. She worked
hard to reflect her craft while treating her colleagues with

(13:53):
kindness and respect. This lawsuit concluded, we look forward to
identifying opportunities to work together but Miss Corano in the
near future. What does that mean. I've heard a lot
of different people, a lot of people were kind of
sat in Disney bent Dindy. Some people have said that

(14:13):
Trina was probably going to win her lawsuit, and so
this was Disney kind of trying to do the best
to save face. I think there's a lot of legally
is in that statement. I think at the end of
the day, Disney was right determinator. I think Disney was.
There is some people within Disney or within Lucasfilm that
made some comments that probably unfortunately led this to be

(14:38):
not a slam dunk case. If they had just written
her off, not said anything, and we all would have
known why. However, with that in mind, they could have
gotten away with it. But because they did make the
comments of that they did. I don't have the comment
in front of me in hand, but it was basically
condumbing her for her antagonistic views or transphobic, potentially transphobic views,

(15:04):
because they said that, all of a sudden, this case
became a possibility of loss. And not only that, it
could have been a drawn out lawsuit that would have
been in the news real it would have been a
strike against Lucasfilm for a while, as far as being
continuously talked about instead of focusing on the future in
case and focusing on the content we are now, we
would now be focusing on this lawsuit. So in a way,

(15:27):
even though I don't like the fact that it looks
like this is Film and Disney bent the knee, it
might be a smart business move to kind of like
settle the lawsuit, throw some money in her way, make
this blanket statement. I highly doubt we are ever going
to see ginga Krano in a in Star Wars universe. Again,
I really don't think that's the case, and if we do,

(15:50):
I will eat my hat. And I'll also say at
that point that I'm extremely I would be disappointed in
Lucasfilm and Disney if that happened. Stand by your your
stand by your value, stand by your views. And if
that's the case, you do what you do. And you
don't know if that's what that's how you feel. If

(16:10):
she doesn't align with your views, you are the company.
You get to decide what your views are. There's arguments
out there that people are saying, like you know, like
Pedro Pascal has his views and he's not censored. Well,
if his views aligning the company's used, then that's how
it works, and that's what happens. If their views match
up with Geni Coronovius, maybe Pedro Pascal would be the
one fire and there'll be different kind of outright now,

(16:33):
So we'll have to see. I do think it's hypocritical
if they take her back in. I don't think this
is necessarily the worst outcome, even if it does look
like they're taking them taken. Your miles may be vary.
Let me know in the comments that you think about that,
all right. Next up, we have Simon Kinderg talking about
and Or. Everybody has talked about and over the years.

(16:55):
And Or was obviously well received, probably the best of
well received, most well received program in Star Wars history,
maybe outside of Mandalorian season one and two right out there,
but this is the quote unquote adult Star Wars. This
reached outside of the Star Wars universe and fandom and
became prestige as it were the chance that we actually

(17:15):
could see an Emmy for this potentially. It has definitely
made some waves within Lucasfilm and without Lucasfilm. Simon Kimberg,
who was announced to be creating a Star Wars trilogy,
the Next Star Wars Trilogy, the basically ten eleven and
twelve as it were at this point. He did come
up through the system of Star Wars partially he worked

(17:36):
with Dave Filoni before he was instrumental in Rebels as
well as other products. I shouldn't say he came up
through Lucasfilm because he he's been working in for a
longest time X Men, Mac, The two thousands, everything else,
but he had been in Lucasfilm as well. At one
point Lucasfilm, there was some speculation that clime A Simon
Kimberg was going to be taking Star Wars over at

(17:57):
one point. That was a room at the time and
some people had said that, and it didn't happen. He
went off and he's had his hits and missus. He's
definitely a big business rusher. He's always flowers out there
at Dark Phoenix was not a success in fact that
he's now oh for too and trying to doubt that
story assigned for movies. However, he's done very well at producing.

(18:19):
He's done very well with Star Wars rebels and writing
Star Wars rebels, so I think it's a lot to
be said about that. But he also made comments about
and or specifically he said there's a ton of wildly
talented folks that want to do great work. I was
super inspired and just sort of awestruck by way Tony
Gilroy did with and Or. I thought that was about
as good of science fiction from storytelling as you can

(18:39):
do in any franchise. He went on to say that
about Star Wars in general, it's not even a dream, contrue.
I couldn't have dreamed it. Just to be told there
be more movies would have been unbelievable. To be allowed
on the set of any of them was already a dream.
My enthusiasm only grows was working on and around it.
So Simon Kilmberg, you know, if they're gonna say this

(18:59):
this eleven and twelve, which is basically what they have said,
you're handing a big key of the kingdom to Simon Kimber.
For as much as we've had, I mean, Tony Gilroy's
and Or wonderfully done, but definitely kind of a niche
thing in the Star Wars universe. James Mangales down of
the Jedi could be brilliant. It feels like, if not niche,

(19:25):
but it's definitely more of a singular thing. Starfighter, which
we're gonna talk about soon i'd have a singular thing
meant to be standoffish, although I will I would be
shocked if there weren't some kind of ties leading into
perhaps ten eleven and twelve or the Ray movie giving
them where this is taking place. But again, it's own

(19:45):
kind of niche thing. I don't think that. I don't
think that Sean Leevy is planning a long stay in
the Star Wars University, will do Starfighter. I wouldn't be
surprised if he does a Starfighter two if it does well,
that kind of thing, but it is not the plan
moving forward. The only other planned thing we have moving
forward would be Dave Feloni and John Fadrose Mandover's, but

(20:07):
that is also kind of moving towards the finale. From
what we know, we have obviously the Mandalorian season one
and two book a Moo Effect, Mandalorian Season three is
sosocas season one going out. We still have the Mandalorian
Grogu movie, which is coming out in July, and I'm
actually surprised. All quick side of almost feels like it's
being I don't know, forgotten the right word. I think

(20:28):
we need to bring that back into the limelight. A
little bit. A lot of the news has been about Starfighter,
rightfully so, but it almost feels like we've already passed
Mandalori and Grogu. But that's the next movie. We haven't
even got a trailer yet, an officially publicly released trailer.
I should say, your miles may vary, but we have
Mandalori and Grogu movie. We do have a PSOCA season

(20:49):
two definitively started filming, and that's going to be taken
coming out next year as well. And then beyond that,
we know that Dave Filoni has a movie plan which
is supposed to kind of tie up the bandovers the
end the Mando Verse, and it could be a soft ending. No,
there's no reason why that can't be the big ending
of the movies. And then if if Peter Pascal still

(21:11):
wants to do stuff, if alone or Fabro still won't
do stuff, and if Dinn lives again in the Mandoes
could do sub afterwards, absolutely leading into different areas as
we go, But that still feels I mean, not like
a niche that's not quite as niche as I Skeleton
Crew was or something. You're technically that era of Meno
verse as well, but not like and Or not like

(21:31):
its own a little one off that's been a kind
of a journey kind of thing. The animated thing is
its own thing as well. I'm all shadow word coming
out that's kind of going to be tied to that
same eraly been doing Clone Wars. Bad Batch rebels this.
Simon Kimberg's trilogy feels like that. If you're gonna say,
as ten, e, eleven, and twelve, that is the next saga,

(21:52):
that's the okay, that's the focus, that's the big thing.
Skywark osaga has been the thing. This is the next
big thing. So how does Simon Kimberg do it? He's
gonna be inspired by end Or. I don't think that's
necessarily a bad thing. However, I don't want it to
be and Or two. I don't want it to be
like a rip off of and or Or. I think

(22:14):
you can do that but still lud in a little
bit of the Star Wars soup, as it were. You
can make the serious, well written content but still have
that kind of swaggering fun adventure. So that's why I'm
kind of hoping for. I'm hinting a good written, stolid,
well developed trilogy, which is something they probably should have

(22:35):
done the first place. When Kathleen Kennedy and the CBO
for lucasfilm and they have the sequel trilogy that should
have been mapped out. I'm not gonna lie. You can
say George did his way in the eighties, and that's
absolutely true. George definitely won through it. But George Lucas
is also one a million to one a billion. He's
kind of his own thing. He's a true artist from
his time. It was his relationship, it was his I

(22:58):
don't know, man, I feel like genius you can do
that kind of stuff. Not knocking anybody from from the
sequel trilogy per se, but me me, when you don't
have someone can Joorians is beyond everybody, then you do
plan it out a little better instead of like going,
oh boom boom, boom boom. That's where he gets some
of this discontent from this disconnect from I think they're

(23:19):
learning that's a degree. That's why Simon and overseeing the
trilogy now, hopefully that will be the kind of thing
you don't have to necessarily have the same director for
all three might help, might help. But as long as
a plan in place to develop and go and it's
the same theme, the same, the same continuity, the same.
Everyone's in the same page and moving forward. There's no
panicky moves as long as there's no like redirect. Have

(23:42):
confidence in your artists, have confidence in your designers and
your writers and your directors, and let them tell the
story they want to tell. If Slimon Kimer is going
to oversee that, that can't be a bad thing. Whether
or not it's and or, I don't want to get
to and or, but being inspired by and Or, I
like that. I like that idea. All right, Next up,
a few more people, one more piece before you go

(24:04):
through the main topic of the day. The last piece
of news before the main topic of the day. It
is Star Wars The Jaws of Jack Who audible original
releasing in October. That is interesting to me. Star Wars
has been releasing this in the book and comic section.
I have a couple of other things that'll note some
debs that'll be part of this. Star Wars has been

(24:26):
releasing audible originals. They've been kind of dropping them randomly.
They'll be kind of like surprise drops and they just
kind of go out there. We had like Padawan's Pride,
We had a couple of the High Republic adventures. Basically
they were young, basically aim towards a young audience. I
think this one might be too. But what I like
about it is that we have been avoiding Ray for
quite a while. I know Sequel Trilogy is very you know,

(24:50):
it's that divisiveness about Secle trilogy, especially obviously the Last
Jedi being like the definition of divisive riot. Skywalker not
extremely well received. We like them both here at Holy Snokes.
Me and Maddie both enjoy the films, but it felt
almost like Ray was a part of that lightning. Both
are that era and that she's like the face of

(25:11):
that era. So it almost felt like what we're gonna
just kind of do other stuff. Now, there is the
Ray movie that's in development, sure being it will be
Chinoi's Ray film. It's been rubored behind the scenes. I
don't know if that's still happening, or how it's happening.
Is Charmian is still attached to it. She is, as
far as we know. Nothing officially had been said. She

(25:32):
hadn't mentioned. There are rumors, of course, that Ray is
gonna be a big part of ten, eleven and twelve,
which makes sense that would be the way moving forward.
So is that film being you know, morphed into the
Simon Kimber trilogy. Perhaps maybe that's what Maybe that's what's
kind of taking so long, but guess why they're having
an interesting idea about that. But we've kind of like,

(25:53):
I haven't had these stories with Ray ince then usually
the EU Expanded Universe eras would go nuts and just
kind of throw it the things. I know, we're kind
of saving some things to be able to want to
know what we might know what Ray going forward will
be probably in a film. So we're getting in this
which is the Josh jack Hu threat the comments, but
on the events of the last Jedi I raised struggles
to let go over her locally child. They're a desert

(26:14):
planet of Jackhu, hopeing never break through in her Jedi training,
she returns to her home world with Finn and BB
eight in tow. They mee the young girl on a
dangerous mission to save her family. They travel through pitch
black tunnels beneath the sand over the encounter scurrying nod Jaws.
I'll hunting terror for the past and maybe just maybe
hope for them all. Well, it feels like this is

(26:34):
another young Jedi, like a young audience kind of book,
and those are fine. I like to see some more
adult things come out as well, especially in Era. But
it is just good to see Rap back on the
news again. So I hope we get more sequel eras trilogy storytelling.
We do have the legacy of Vader Kyler Rensen series
which is being written down my Troustole, and that's been great,

(26:55):
but I would like to see some more come out
throughout this time as well. A couple of other things I'll
will throw out there. Han Solo, the Hunt of the Falcon.
It's taking place in that kind of same thing between
six and seven. I haven't read the first issue yet,
I've heard good things about it. I've heard that it
seems to be a good, good Han Solo story, or
a start of a good Han Solo story. Anyway. A
bunch of other little things coming out now that the

(27:17):
Higher Public era has ended, or the Higher Republic Initiative,
I should say, has I ended. We are getting phase
of work. And look at our last video about the
Higher Public ending here on this channel, we talk all
about that and give a little previewable we think might
come in that era, not the initiative, but the era itself.
So a lot of fun things coming out. Another thing
is coming out. We do have the Adam Christopher book

(27:39):
coming out, not too long. The name of it now
we look about real quick. I'm sorry I should have
this written down. I thought I had it. Master of Evil,
That's what it was. I thought it was. That's what
it was. We didn't have a first like an excerpt
about that with Palpatine and Vader discussing dark plagas. So
that's gonna be cool. Adam Christopher, of course, Shadow Sith.

(28:00):
Adam Christopher's written a book in the Star Wars style
of before, which has been well received. A lot of
the good Star Wars stuff from Madame Christopher was the
name of the other one he did, wasn't shout Us
of the sim I'm not good remembering this, remember the
titles there. I'm so sorry for that. He did write
short stories and End of Watch and The Witness and
His Deadfast Soldier from the certain point of view. He

(28:23):
did was announced for the Mandalorian original novel as well.
But Shadow Shadow of the Sift, that was the book
he wrote, and that was really pretty well received. Overall
what shadow of the set, That's what it was. Good
stuff there, So I'm looking forward to that for sure.
Can't wait to see what he comes up with. Uh,
Star Wars are good. Sanctuary the Bad Bash novel, that's
another one I haven't read yet. I'm kind of seeing

(28:43):
the trying to side whether I want to read it
now or if I want to wait till I get
there in my can read through it might be a bit.
So I'm kind of like on the on the flip
side of things. I basically heard that it is a
good it will be a good bad Batch arc, which
is pretty much what I wanted. It's not like any
thing could happen in the book that would be extremely big.
It's not furthering the adventures past the end of the series,

(29:06):
not before. It's actually right in the middle, so we
get to see all those characters in the crux of
one of the series would be so it may be
kind of fun. So all right, last bit of news
and then we'll end today's stream. Lucasfilm announced the casting
for Star Wars Starfighter. A lot of us official it
finally puts some stuff up on star Wars dot com

(29:27):
because principal photography has begun. I believe August twenty eighth
that has begun. Something that wasn't in this article was
mentioned elsewhere. Claudio Miranda is the cinematographer who started work
and that, my friends, is good news. Best known recently
for f one Top Gun Maverick. He also did try
and like I see, which I'm a big fan of.

(29:47):
I have never seen anything that he shot that doesn't
look good. And given the fact that this is Star
Wars Starfighter, so I assume we're going to have some
piloting and some starships and Starfighters zooming along. To have
a guy who did Tom Glenn Maverick. That feels like
a natural fit. So excited about that, very excited about that.

(30:08):
But again, we had or he already had news before.
Obviously Ryan Gosling had been the lead for that was
announced a while ago. We had rumors of Mia goth joining,
nothing official. Matt Smith was joining. Those are both confirmed,
amongst other people some surprises, I think. Let me read
what I got the whole comment on what we think

(30:28):
might be coming forward from them, what I think about
the casting, Where we we go. Here we go today
to mark the startup production on Star Wars Starfighter. Lucasfilm
has announced the full cast for the upcoming feature film
from Sean Levy, joining the previously announced Ryan Goslin. The
film starts Flitting Gray, who's going to be a young actor.
I believe he was in Wednesday the season, Matt Smith,
Mia Goth also now Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamill Westman,

(30:54):
Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams. Now I don't know much
about Simon Burge and Westman and Daniel Ings. I did
some minor research. Looks like they're fun, They're having fun
stories and their and their careers. But I will comment
on Aaron Pierre and Amy Apps. I will comment on
all Actually should talk about all of them. I don't

(31:14):
think I talked about Matt Smith even all right, So
Ryan Gosling I definitely have mentioned talking about That's great.
I love the fact that Ryan Gosling's leading this. He
is the if there are true movie stars left, he
is one of them. It's not many of them out there,
but he's a phenomenal performer, phenomenal actor, and getting him
into Star Wars is a booner. It is definitely a booner.

(31:36):
Moving on from that, Mia Goth Mia God. I love
this casting. I love this casting. Mia goth is famously
known for the ex trilogy ex Pearl and Maccine. Pearl,
by the way, also started David corn Sweat, which blew
my mind because I saw a Pearl a while ago,
then saw a Superman that loved Superman and loved David

(31:57):
Corance more than that. But I didn't put the two
and two together because I like David Korns. But in
Pearl as well blew my mind. No toy, different characters,
but be a God is phenomenal in those films, and
her as a villain Chef's kiss, I think she could
be a wonderful dark sider, perhaps perhaps the si Witch
of some kind potentially. Either way, she does crazy very well,
so I'm hoping for a crazy outcome and villain moving

(32:20):
on out and the chef there. Matty Gunner, my co
host who doesn't want to do the news things anymore,
but I love the guy anyway. Cyon Bird from in
Between hers Man is a UK comedy legend. Okay, I
don't know. I don't know that there was seen in
between yours, but I'm interested to see how that goes. Mattie,
you can tell me if you want, if you're excited
about those, I'll read those comments out loud. I don't

(32:41):
I'm sorry, dude, Sorry, I don't know. I don't know it.
Moving forward, Mat Smith is something I should make a
big comment on Mas Smith as doctor who, as a
doctor who super fan on this doctor who is brilliant
and Mats Smith is one of my favorite doctors. You
can see me and PJ Campbell doing big Blue Box
podcast on this channel of times and we are built big,

(33:02):
big mad Smith's fans. Mas Smith has not been in
a movie that has been good, unfortunately. That was always
kind of the Curse Patient Zero Morebius Determinator Genesis Last
Night at SOHO wasn't bad and I liked it better than most. However,
probably the worst of the Edgar Wright films, I will say.

(33:25):
I will say though, that streak is already over because
I saw him in cost Stealing this past weekend, and
that is a great film with Matt Smith plank of
punk playing out there punk. I love it. Definitely go
see that. It is a wonderful film by uh Darren Rofski.
But I had to label it, it'd be a combassador

(33:45):
child of Scorsese. Guy Ritchie and maybe Danny Boyle. That's
what the whole film feels like, a fun crime heist
kind of thing. Austome Butler wonderful, is a Cravit's wonderful.
Live Schreiber and Vincent Danaprio were both wonderful. And Matt
Smith is wonderful. And yes, Matt Smith the mormous guy.

(34:06):
I've never been a guy I have a job these days. Hey,
I get that, Maddie, I get that. I'm just busting
your bust your shop, busting your jobs, all right. Moving
on then to the next other rest of the cast
got there, Like I said, Maddie told him out, signed
Verdal to check out in between yours. But Aaron Pierre
is a name I want to go with. Aaron Pierre
is wonderful from what I've seen. Obviously made him not

(34:31):
his debut, but meet his splash in the Netflix film
Rebel Ridge earlier this year. Loved it, loved him. I
loved him and so much that I kind of thought
he should be the next James Bond. That's how much
charisma he had, that's how much his gravitas he had.
I thought he would be a great change Bond still
think he would be a great James Bond. I do
know he is going to be in The Lantern Seria

(34:52):
as John Stewart, so he mak him the DC Comics
splash as well. I love the DCU, so I'm looking
forward to that. Aaron Pierre in Star Wars, Yes, sign
me up, sign me up. I mean we already have
Ryan Smith, or we already Ryan Smith, Ryan Gosling's our lead.
We do have Flynn Gray as a young kid. It
doesn't even we're having these same typical Star Wars lone

(35:12):
wolfing cub on a storyline, Ryan godleybotecting protecting Flynn Gray
on some kind of journey. Matt Smith and Me and
Goth are both portedly playing a villain, so they re
got their rule. I don't know how they're connected. Matt
Smith maybe a general of some kind. Maybe he's a
corrupt new or public general, is a former first order general.

(35:32):
We don't really know that. Necessarily, mea Goth, like I said,
I wouldn't be surprised if Matt Smith is the imperial
type general, where me a Goth is like the Saith,
which kind of thing potentially teaming up, So we're telling
everybody else Aaron Pierre. I don't know where Aaron Pierre
should fit in, but he could fit in any way.
He could be another villain, he could be a friend,
a sign kick to Ryan Gosling, maybe a maybe he

(35:53):
could be a Jedi in Raised Uh in Raised Covenan
at this point, perhaps the New Jedi, the New Jedi Order.
He's a part of that. He has to help Ryan
Gosling get Flynn Gray to the Jedi Order. That might
because that's not of rumors that Flyn Gray might be
a young fourced sensitive and Ryan Gosling wants to get
him to perhaps Ray or the New Jedi Order. Aaron

(36:14):
Pierre would make a wonderful Jedi. I think he has
that kind of like again, that gravitas that like. I
could see him in Jedi robes and is being very
like center to focused. That could be very well. But
either way, talent is talent, my friend, Talent is talent.
I'm all about that. And Maddy Gunners and Star Wars
will never work with Hollywood A listeners like this. They're

(36:36):
pander into the deep state, Hollywood elite. Maybe the thing,
I honestly think that it's an interesting point to make
Maddie I will say, but I will say that I
think it almost feels like we need it now. As
far as the business side of things, Obviously, back in
the day of Star Wars that I name alone would
just make a billion dollars go out there, it would

(36:58):
be successful. Star Wars has taken to hit recently, obviously
in the news and things of that issure, So I
kind of feel like we're in a place where maybe
getting some known actors that would be around He's mess,
that's true, but that is actually true. Some people have
said that as well. Some people have some kind of
made like they're kind of made it out there, like
I don't know if I want all these A listeners

(37:18):
in there. I don't know if I want all these
people in there. I mean my argument was that they
they have done it before. Liam Neeson was not exactly unknown,
Gregor was not unknown. To the prequels, those are all
out there as if we're osteurizing pay your Pascal. They're
all known. So I don't think it's a bad thing
at all. I understand the idea of wanting to not

(37:39):
know somebody that they can just kind of go into
the role, but oh, that's that's who they are. It's
not Mark Hamill it Skywalker, get that, But I'm over
the mindset. Talent is talent. You get talent in there
and they're gonna do the job. Ryan Gosling is talented,
so I don't care if I know him. He'll still
be able to get Maddie got of course, being more
sick like those people can kick rocks Maddy to get that.
Mattie's just on here at this point anyway, Almost gonna

(38:03):
wrapping things up here. Got a few more things to
talk about here. Amy Adams is one name I did
not mention that loved Amy Adams Academy Award. She's a
stalwart Academy Award nominie love her and her rival love
her in lover Heard Man of Steel. I think she
is a phenomenal performer. Has worked with Sean Levy before.
What is she going to play? The rumor The rumor

(38:25):
is she's going to play the mother of Flynt and
Gray's character. Flint and Gray's character is that she connected
to Ryan Gosling. I don't know. Is she is just
a small wolf for her perhaps because if it's the
lone wolf and cub, perhaps she's only got a small
it is the and Amy Adams. Wouldn't be surprised if
perhaps Amy Adams is like in the beginning and she's
killed off, and that's why Ryan Gosling has a healthhoe right,

(38:47):
that could be potentially it. In fact, that would be
my prediction. My prediction is Amy Adams is the and
Amy Adams because she makes the kind of appearance in
the beginning before she kind of kicks things off, before
Ryan Gosling has to go off. I wouldn't want her
killed off because she's such a great performer that I
would like to have her potentially around for more and
maybe the bigger roles later on. But that's my gut

(39:10):
on that. That's my gut on that you're not even
supposed to be here today, I know, I know. So yeah,
that's what we got from that, I will say. There
was a statement from Sean Levy. He said, I feel
a profound sense of excitement and honors wegn production on
Star Wars Starfighter today. Kathy Kennedy called me up inviting
me to develop an original adventure and this incredible Star

(39:30):
Wars Galaxy experience. I've been a dream coming true creatively
and personally. Star Wars shaped my sense of what story
can do, how characters and cinematic moments can live with
us forever. Joined the storytelling galaxy was brilliant. Collaborators on
screening Off is the Thrill of a Lifetime, directed by
Sean Levy. The film produced by Levy and Kathryn Kennedy.
Executive producers are Ryan Gosling, Dan Levine, Mary McLagan, and

(39:51):
Josh McLagan, and the script is by collaborator Jonathan Tropper.
I will through out there. There is one more bit
of casting rumor. This is not from Star Wars dot Com.
This was from one of those scoopers who were kind
of like fifty to fifty on things. Sometimes they're right,
sometimes they're wrong. That scooper said that Ava Mendez was

(40:12):
potentially also in the cast as Ryan Gosling's wife or
love interests or perhaps former wife. I don't know. Seemed
like it was kind of interesting that. I don't know
why they wouldn't announce her with the rest of the cast.
If that was the case, Perhaps the deal isn't done
yet and they're kind of still figuring that out. If
that's the case, it's got to be a smaller role
from the nothing with that. I Oh, No, I feel

(40:34):
I'm not a you just I have a Mandes fan.
As far as her performance goes, she's fine. So I'm
kinda been different on that one. So we'll have to
see where that comes. But I'm excited about everything else.
I love Mats Smith, loved Me and God, love Aaron Pierre,
love Amy Adams, love Ryan Gosling, everybody that is in
this picture that I know, I love, and that's a
great thing. Sean Lovey's movies are kind of doing I

(40:55):
would say divisive is the right words. Some people have
their bugging their asses about him. I don't think he's
too silly, too unserious whatever I disagree he can be,
but he also has films that to show great heart.
I think Real Steal has shown great heart. I think
the Atom Project is a perfect like setup that was
kind of a Star Wars feeling movie with Ryan Reynolds,

(41:17):
so I think he can pull that off in this
universe with this kind of actual vibe and the production
values and how it's gonna look at Star Wars. I
think it is going to be a great Star Wars adventure.
I also say I will be surprised, shocked. I don't
know I's shocked is too strong up a word, but
I will be surprised if Daisy really is not in
his film, at least at the end. I kind of

(41:38):
feel like that's gonna be the button shall appear like
Flynn Gray will get to the Jedi and Ray will
be there to welcome him in, and then maybe perhaps
that move on to the next thing. So Star Parer
can be an original, unrelated film of sorts, but then
kind of like springboard into other things later on, potentially

(42:00):
Star Wars does. So excited about that for sure, But
what do you guys think Let me know in the comments.
But you guys think about the casting, let me know
what you guys think about Sean Love's upcoming film. Let
me know you think about all of that. We've talked
about today, mandelarn and Groug Group, Mandalorian uh going on?
Beyond that the Dave Filoni's off so for season two
is ob one gonna be in season two? Still don't know,

(42:20):
Still can't tell. Great things coming up though on the channel,
Great things coming up on this on this actual podcast.
Like I said, next time we'll be back, we'd be
covering the rebuilding Galaxy. Sorry from Lego, which is gonna
be great. We're gonna have some more news. We're gonna
cover Michael Clayton, We're gonna be covering Visions soon, and
then coming up into the next new year, Shadow Lord
will come out back to a weekly schedule for shadow

(42:42):
Lord because they're actually gonna cover wherever a show is out,
TV show is out, we will be come back on
a weekly basis to cover the episode from that week.
So don't despair. There to be for two meddle as
geeks on a film. PJ Campbell and I covering Ghostbusters
and Men in Black right now, although we are pausing
on that this weekend to go watch Conjuring the Last
Rites and finishing up the Conjuring Saga on the Patreon,

(43:05):
Patreon dot Comm's last Pod projects you see us type
and taking tackling the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We are covering
ant Man next there, but we have a bunch of
other ones already on the channel or already on the
Patreon or YouTube membership. As you can tell join that
I gratefully appreciate it, of course, and if not, I
guess I get it. Like common subscribe all that good stuff.
I mean at paunch for the news you on Twitter

(43:27):
also in the Blue Sky. Yeah, no word, this is
you know what I'm saying. I hope you guys appreciate it.
Love this like this. I appreciated this and hope you'll
see this back next time. We have more news to
talk about next month. You'll see you next time. Cover
Lego and dar else Maddie wants to talk about them,
because I'll let him have his soap box on anything
he wants to talk about movies wives? Is that until then?
