PLD Projects presents Holy Snookes, the Star Wars Podcast featuring
PLD and Mattie Gunner. You may the Force be with
you always. Well, Hello there, Welcome to an episode of
(00:41):
Holy snokesy Star Wars podcast here on the Pod Product Network.
I am the titular PLD with me as always the
non titular Maddy Gunner. How are you doing, my friend?
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I hate today.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Yeah, I would.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Never ever ever after the words making great time ever again,
I knew it.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, you're getting this episode a little later in the
day than you normally would for reasons.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
And I at car trouble. I haven't had car trouble
with YOD. I figure out how frustrating it can be.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
There is little else that is where you're traveling, not
le even traveling farle, You're just on the road. And
then also charge trouble hits. It's out of nowhere. It
takes you out of your day. It just everything changes
all of a sudden. Your walk, it's a lot later.
It's just not a good time. It's definitely matter.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
And then the guy who's supposed to fix it comes
and says, I don't know the right tools this what
the fuck you mean? You don't have the right tools
for the job. Job. Dude, literally have one job.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Uh. Well, I'm glad you're home.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I'm glad I'm home here.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
You're ready to go to bed as soon as we
do this episode. Uh episode which I'm happy to say
going into more happier times that we did not get
for a center. We actually got news that dropped the
day before we recorded, instead of the day after or
the hour after. So I found out.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I found out this morning. I found out this morning
while I woke up. Yet, because I was busy last night.
I woke up this morning and I was like, shit,
I'll go the long drive ahead of me. I'm not
gonna be able to watch this till literally this year.
As I get in the door, and then as I
was driving, I was like, oh, making a pretty good time.
I should be okay, and then nope. But I have
watched it. I literally just watched it as we went live.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
So you're speaking speaking of the trailer of course that
dropped yesterday. The announcement to the trailer. That's one of
the news. But we're gonna get into. Obviously, we pitched
this last week. This was gonna be our rogue one
pre watch. Now, if you're new to the new to
this show, we don't know what that a prewatch is.
I'll explain it to you. A pre watch is. We
decided that with and our coming up, we just finished
(02:54):
our Indoor rewatch, we know that it's gonna change everything,
so we plan to do a Rogue one rewatch after
we do and Too.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Like Diego says he's going to change everything.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Diego says, that's true, Diego Luna Undoor himself. So we
were gonna do that, but then Maddie brought up a
good point that with the new connectivity, not new connectivity,
but all the connectivity that season two of Vandora has
with Roague one, we're getting chronic coming back obviously, things
of that nature. Maybe it would be nice to get
that back in our mindset before we watch and Or
(03:24):
season two. So we decide to do a pre watch
of Rogue one. We've watched it before, yes, but it's
a pre watch, uh in before we watch in Or
season two. We are going to watch it all always watch.
It's a good film. It's a love of film, So
I don't we watch it. We're watch it twice in
a month now because we're gonna watch it again after
and our season two and see what change from here
(03:46):
and now are viewing today, We're gonna do it something,
and then the next time we do it, we're probab
won't do the same exact way. We're not gonna do
our segments there. We'll just basically talk about what we
thought differently on how it did get changed, if at all.
Maybe we're just having a fun little rewatching knows, but
I'm glad to get that in today. But the news
dropping obviously shifted that from the front page news story
(04:08):
as it were on our show here, shifted that to
our backhand and we got the drop, and we'll get
right into it the drop of a new show and
a trailer for a new show, and a poster for
a new show coming out on May the fourth. We're
talking about, of course, if you haven't heard Tales of
(04:28):
the Underworld, the third in the Tales series. We had
Tales of the Jedi, we had Tales of the Empire.
This is our third such grouping of shorts that we're
gonna see animated. Wies I. It's kind of funny because
I watched these things and back in the day before
I was podcasting, I'd be like, holy shit, great new
Star Wars show, and that would be it. Now I
(04:50):
have that character, that side of me, but there's also
the next side of me and goes, well, what does
this mean? So we're gonna tackle all that. Let's first
start with the press release from Star Wars about it.
We'll read that out, and then we'll talk about what
we saw on the trailer and where our thoughts and
the thoughts, prayers, and aspirations are. According to star Wars
dot Com, two favorite Star Wars bounty hunters are back
(05:12):
for Tales of the Underworld. Lady Assage Ventures and her
Yellow Lightsaber are back, alongside the infamous Quick Drock cad Bean,
and a new anthology of animated shorts. Today, Lucasfilm and
Disney Plus now Star Wars Tales of the Underworld, the
third installment in the Tales anthology series, following Tales of
the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. We're visiting beloved
characters to explore previously untold yet pivotal stories. Shooting on
(05:32):
Disney Plus this Star Wars day, May, the fourth Tales
of the Underworld is a six episode journey following two
notorious bounty hunters former Dark Side assassin Massage Ventures. She's
given a new chance at life and must go on
the run with an unexpected new ally and outlack cad
Bane as he faces his past when he confronts an
old friend, now a marshal on the other side of
the law. The new trailer for the series fans with
(05:54):
a glimpse at how Ventures and Baine are surviving in
the shadow of the Empire. The tattern Cloak of Venturess
lasting in Star Wars The Bad Batch Season three ignites
her Sabert and face the mysterious enemy with a Red Blade,
while a young Padowom grapples with life after Order sixty six.
Donning his iconic hat, Baine finds himself in another tenth
to blaster fight as steel Pecker's Circle Overhead, a standout
(06:14):
that reminds us of his live action appearance in the
Book of Bob Effett. New key art for this series
because it's a closer look at a host of new
characters and one other familiar face. Lats Razzi, the thelid
bounty hunter we first met in Star Wars The Clone Wars,
benras Bain and the rest Hover over credit symbol the
third and a trilogy of posters that previously showcased the
Jedi Order symbol and the Imperial Cobb emblem. Tales under Words.
(06:36):
Underworld stars returning voice actors Nika Futterman as Sas Ventris
and Corey Burton as Cat Baine, as well as Art Butler,
Lane Factor A J. Locassio, Claire Grant, Don Lian Garter,
and Eric Lopez. Dave Filoni created the series and as
the supervising director. He's also an executive producer, alongside with Athena,
Yvette Portello and Carried Back. Josh Riim serves as co
executive producer. Alex Botswut is the senior producer, and Matt
(06:58):
Genovitz is the writer. Watch These Stories of Sokatano and
Count Juku, entails the Jedi and We're Elsbeth and Barisofi
and tells the Empire Now, then stream tails The Underworld
when it arives on Disney Plus May the fourth, twenty
twenty five. All right, last to be said there, last
be said there. Let's talk about the trailer itself. Show
(07:20):
mm hmm. Get your thoughts on the trailer first? Did
you just saw it's fresh? In your mind. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
First off, I want to shout out at Star Wars
Sessions boys for essentially scooping this months ago. They came
out with this month ago said that they Am Underworld
was going to be the next one. So shout out
to those boys forgetting that scoop. Yeah makes sense with the.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Rumblings about the old Underworld show, definitely, absolutely, absolutely, I'm
looking it seems to be like this is the yearly thing,
these little anthology.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Series, right, So yeah, I'm all for it.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
I liked I like any Star Wars animation honestly, Like
I shouldn't say, I'm not like a shill, like I
like everything, but I'm always excited to see new animation
because the animation has really been probably more consistent than
live action as far as I'm concerned, as far as
Disney Disney goes. I love the Clone Wars, love the Rebels,
I love that Bash, I love the Tails of the Jedi,
and Ive loves Tales the Empire Tales Underworld we thought
(08:22):
might be coming out at some point. This is one
that we did pitch. I do think that this looks
very interesting. I read the press release is a little
more illuminating as you get to it. Because you look
at the trailer itself, you're not entirely sure where it
comes from. You got obviously you can tell from massage
that it's post at least post Clone Wars. You just
(08:43):
got the hair the Yellow Savers, so it's not like
a Clone Wars tale. Obviously, the the Pressure League I
say that they're both in the tails of the Empire,
underneath the shadow of the Empire. So that's another clue there.
It's interesting to see what this is going to be
because you look at what we got, we look at
we got her appearance in the Bad Batch. Is this
(09:04):
taking place between like say, Dark Disciple and Bad Batch.
Is this what we're getting the tail of.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah, because Disciple was end of the Clone was.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Right, So is this taking place at or is this
taking place post Bad Batch.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
That's a good question for me, mainly because they did
tell us obviously Dark Disciples she saw as ventures died
spoiler alert bad Batch. She made the surprise reappearance without
any explanation as to how she was back. They did
mention during those press releases that we were going to
find out eventually they're going to tell us something. It
(09:40):
looks like this might be it or is it, And
that's a question I'll talk about in a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
To me, it does because it looks like this this
pato on kit looking kid is then hiding and she's
found him, and.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Well that's what that's That's part of the thing about
the anthology goes too, because as you know, when previously
I take the Asika don episode, there was Asoka done
episode pre Phantom Menace, Clonares Sokaton episode like it could
be time jumps like that. If there's six episodes, you
have one then one then when then it could acstlualely
happen the same way. In fact, I expect that to
(10:16):
be the okay for the cat Bane story. I feel
like we're gonna get an episode of cad Bane as
a youngster, or at least maybe I don't want.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
To feel like sympathy for cad Ban. I really hope
they don't go to that angle. I told he's such
a good character. It's just like a heartless fasted.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
It kind of depends on how it's done. I don't
think you have to feel necessary sympathy. You can still
humanize humanize him. Maybe there's not a human, but you can
like give him some basis of characterization as long as
you make him still be a prick for prick, Like
you shouldn't have like a oh we feel bad for him.
(10:54):
I get that, but he could have like tragedy before
him and have something happens that makes some of the
good down the way.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
And yes, he's to become very formulaic with villains these days,
like give me a villain for a villain's sake. Like
he's just a bad dude. I don't think you're been
a bad dude. I don't think we are. And I'm
kind of bummed because like I would have loved for
him to just like been a bad kid grew up
into a bad dude.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Well, it depends on Like to me, I guess that
depends only if I'm hoping they don't go in the
face of Oh, he was going to be a hero
and then this happened and he's a villain. And more
of that, he grew up with somebody who was her
hero and he was a villain and they split off.
That's the kind of thing I'm thinking of, the he
had a friendship with this person that you could kind of.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Be okay, but he got framed for something.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Maybe I could potentially a big case, and maybe that's
why he never did anything. Maybe that's the reason why
he became a park that's like he's like, Okay, I'm good,
I'm now a bad guy and a bad guy and
that's y'all because he still makes decisions that he makes,
and I don't think anything's gonna justify decisions he makes.
So I hope you don't get that, but but I
do think we're getting that, like a younger Caban. I
think we're gonn have the kind of three jumps you're
(12:01):
gonna have, like that young Cadbane thing you're gonna have
a scene with. It's what this other Duro's character is.
I'm actually very intrigued to find out about his cat
Bane's like if he's cad Bane's like equal, like on
just on the side of the law. That's an interesting
angle to go with. And then the last episode will
be showdown between these two. I think very much of
a FETs showdown that we never got from and we
(12:25):
kind of did get in jail'st potentially. Yeah, I keep
using it, but it's it's a it's a trope.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
That we love It's just a Western high Western.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Trope, right and Cadbane is one of the most Western
high trope dead characters we have, so it makes sense.
So I like that aspect of it. With a sage,
you get a lot of different things going on. The
action looks great. It's a case of this is the
third time we've seen this, now, third installment in this saga.
(12:55):
These are shorts. They can't do anything like huge. We're
not gonna get like in the Wars level or Rebels
level like story points. They have to be more character driven.
Some people get disappointed by that. I have liked all
of them so far. I was my least favorite arc
of the four that we've got. And you think of Soca, Douku, Baris,
(13:17):
and Morgan, Elsbeth is probably Morgan probably least favorite because
well maybe basically because I hadn't have much. I wasn't
invested much with her anyway at that point, and I
liked her character from Mandalorian and Ahsoka, but it wasn't
like I was like I wanted this out, I need
to know more about this this character. It's kind of like, oh,
that's kind of cool, Whereas Ahsoka I was all in
(13:38):
on Douku, I was all in on, and Bearis I
was really kind of all in on for the most
part too. The Sage and Bane are characters I know
very well and I'm very happy to get more. So
it's nice for them to get the highlight. So I
like these ideas as someone as we kind of keep
in mind that these aren't going to change the galaxy
(13:59):
we have to get and these are short, and sometimes
I think people get like disappointed when like every episode
is not a galaxy changing inventor oh my god, well,
sometimes it's just kind of a cool or.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
And this is not a dig at you when everything's
not connected to the wider story. Absolutely, when we do
just tell these camps which you like, and then I'm
not telling you because I know how much you love
your connectivity. There are a lot of people out there
that are like, what was the point in this when
this was to tell the story and for you to
engage with the story that you are presented with.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Absolutely, and that is the difference between means those other people,
because I definitely will take a look at that and go,
oh cool, I could appreciate that and go from that,
especially because if I like the character or like the situation.
I like the we're getting more of these. I hope
these continue. There's no reason they shouldn't continue. I think
we should get a bunch of more than get tales
of the Siths and can get tales of the pirates tells,
you know, we get all sorts of tales of things
kind of thing speaking of pirates, speaking of pirates tells
(14:57):
the mosque. Is there a possible hondo not compearance in
this series? I think there that could happen, that could happen.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Good day.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I guess I kind of watch. I'm saying, like we
do hand to watch every time, except for and Orwick's Mossquash.
We do how to watch every time. But sometimes you
kind of get that, like this feels like a place
that he could much more than others.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Dresh gearing a Jedi kid. Maybe you never know.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
You never know, but yeah, overall, I'm pretty excited about this.
I think this is gonna be good. Like the fact
that it's a month away, so it's like you gotta
dropped the trailer. I dropped the poster boom, there you go.
Much time, you're gonna get a You're a Star warship
and they did.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
They do always come out on May the fifth as well,
so it's like it's a cool thing that we know. Now,
it's like, okay, every year on May the fifth, we
got that.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Did the first one happen that way too?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
M h?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I thought these so cool? Was later on the in
the year. That's why thought was kind of random.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
The first was on fifth.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Okay, I thought it was different.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
But I be wrong. I'm very tie, so I might
be wrong.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
The second one, absolutely, I believe that was the case,
but I think I remember correctly because kind of of
those weird things were like, oh that this is a
cool this would have been a cool made the fourth
kind of thing, But maybe I don't know. I hope
we do get it every year. I think it'd be
a great idea, but it's the case now. The other
part I was talking about for me is when I
started thinking a little deeper into it, is what does
(16:17):
this mean? Because we got celebration coming up, and next
week's going to be our big celebration previews, so we
can I'm not going to go too far details on this,
but it does make me wonder that rumors are that
from everything I've heard along the way, again, this is
not take this all a grain of salt. All you know,
people talking and shatter and they could be talking out
(16:37):
of their ass. But it seems like with live action
picking a step back, they're going more towards movies. We're
not going to do many TV I think we're doing
not many live action TV shows animation as opposed to
we know, quote unquote taking over or taking center stage
and celebration. And we do know that. I mean the
(16:57):
animated penalty talking about is the only one that I
can see outside of the panel for Mander learning Gurugu obviously,
which is gonna be taking place about future stuff. It
was the only one that promised anything on and or
season two, which is going to be days later, the
only one that said, you know, sneak peek at what's
to come. So the question is this why I guess
(17:23):
a couple of questions and they're all kind of interrelated.
Why row your money shot now before a celebration? I get.
I get the fact that you want to give it
time to In some ways I completely understand it because
it's only a month away and celebration it only be
two weeks later that it drops, so you kind of
try to get some kind of ball rolling on that.
But I guess the part of it is like is
(17:46):
this it or is there?
Speaker 2 (17:49):
I would say say, because if you look at that
panel's it's a panel talking about the whole twenty years
of Lucas film animation.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Right, but it's going to be a pretty long You
think that this is going to be the only thing
they announced all this year? Yeah, so we're not going
to have an announcement of anything we don't know about.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Nope, I don't think. I don't think this is that
kind of celebration. I really don't see.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
I'm I would be very disappointed if that's the case.
I'll be very disappointed, I'll be honest, because I think
that this needs something from there, that needs something like
at least because you're telling me with all the animation
that has to take place years in advanced like we
know this, Like you're telling me they're not gonna announce
a full live action I mean a full I don't
think show because how long.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Ago was it that they were just hiring more animators.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
To the point where they should know something, that they
should have something in their work, so you should this
this is the time, This is the time to do
it celebration. The next celebration is twenty twenty seven, which
means it's two years later and the show they're gonna
be out by that.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
So where would we Where would be better to announce
a whole new slate, a whole new era of Star
Wars twenty twenty seven, when it's the fiftieth year. You
can drop everything there makes a huge event doing California,
or you're in Japan where there's going to be barely
anyone from the Western world. There would you have? These
(19:11):
panels aren't streamed, so people aren't going to be watching it.
So I really don't think this is one of those
that we didn't get much in London, other than talking
about projects that probably that might not even happen.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
I will be disappointed.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
We've gotta But again it comes back to the conversation
of when did celebration become announcement?
Speaker 1 (19:36):
I know, no, I get that, I get it to
a point, but I feel like I didn't. There should
be something we should know, something that's coming from animated.
If there's something coming in animation, like that's just athology.
I mean, I guess, I.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Mean they haven't really they haven't really talked a lot
about visions and it's in Japan and it's all Japanese
creators this year, so maybe maybe that's the Maybe that's
it of Wortunately United these we're just in a lull
period and it's not that we haven't been through before. Sorry,
(20:10):
I'll be disappointed.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
I will say that you're very sad disappointed about it.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Well, I'll be disappointed as well, But you know, it's
unfortunately it's one of those things where they also have
D twenty three, so there might be something next year.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
I mean there's the rumor of course, also that's out
there about the possible of the eight episode Ronan series,
which maybe that's going to take place. Maybe yeah, But
here's my other big question. Let not necessarily just celebration,
but in general, I think it was kind of assumed,
and I know, assumptions you make an ass out of
(20:46):
you and me. So I get that the next long
Forum show was going to be the Assage show, Like
that's what kind of everything was kind of leading up towards,
like we're, oh, she's coming back, We're going to get
her story. That's kind of where we're going. So is
(21:07):
that not the case?
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Now?
Speaker 1 (21:10):
They never said it was. I can't. I can't be
disappointed about that. So I'm not like it's not like I.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Mean, you can be it's something that you were looking
forward to that isn't going to happen. You can be disappointed.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
It's not.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Lucasfilm never outright said.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
They did say there was more stuff a story coming over,
and so that's all I expected. That's all I absolutely,
But I guess by question becomes well, then all of sudden,
I was assuming that. So if that's the case I saw,
I'm assuming and this maybe this is the wrong assumption too,
that there is something, a more long form series coming.
There's something in the works that's coming. I don't know
(21:47):
whether it's like not being announced it or not, but
I gotta figure that's something. I mean, don't do you
agree to figure on that?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Yeah? I agree that there there's probably something bigger coming
where would be bad to announce.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
I'm not talking announcement anymore. I'm just talking specifically about like, oh, yeah,
that was the assumption that assage was going to be
that show. So is this a lead into that? Now?
Are they going to do this and then lead into
the big one or maybe even more fun is if
it's that's not a show, then how it got to go, Well,
what is the show going to be that for?
Speaker 2 (22:16):
You know what I'm saying, they're hiring all these animators,
so they must be working on something.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Yeah, so all right, yeah, yeah, I think that's a
It's it's just very interesting to me to think about
because I you know, I already had that plan like
in my head, like and I know that's part of
my own faults, like you're always playing thing like oh,
I'm putting two and two together and getting four. In
this case, I put two and two together and got five.
That's eventually it was rough. But I'm very interested to
(22:42):
see what that does mean. If this doesn't mean because
I guess that that's the two that's the two options, right,
Either we're going to do this small like a little
stip our toes in and then I mean, I would
say it's almost like they're dipping your toes into see
if it's worth doing a full show on. But because
animation works so long in advance, I got to figure
that they're.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Already adventures that is a win and they know it.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
They know that's what I think too, potentially, so I
don't know, very interesting.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
It's it's okay to be excited for things. I think
a lot of the problem and I say this again,
is this leak of scoop of culture. Mmmm. That is
a massive part of the problem. And we talk about
it all the time. Lucasfilm can't keep their mouth shut.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Well in the sage. So but I don't think that's
a peace of keeping their mouth shut because they had
they were gonna get asked the question about Assage because
they brought her back in bad Batch She's dead and
Dark Disciple coming back and bad Batch. What else are
they gonna say. They're gonna say, no, we're now going
to tell you the story.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
But you know what I mean, Like it's conditioned us
to think that, oh, there must be they must be
doing it, like they must be doing something, there must
be something becoming. Maybe not maybe maybe they're still working
it out. And that's okay, I guess so if it
if it takes more time for them to do it, yeah, Hey,
(24:07):
I'm I'm a planner on going anywhere over the next
couple of years.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
I'm seeing you're not as old as ion.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
That's the problem.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I'm gonna getting old when.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Nine hundred years. I will be it will be fine,
it'll be fine, But.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
When you're nine hundred, I'm like definitely kick on the
buck of the bath place. So it's like, I gotta wait,
I can't. I get a little waiter now just long,
but no, I get something for you to live for.
And I sure, I guess my I hate being I
do hate being this way right now, honestly because like
I want to just like Baskally excitem. Oh, I got
I got more Star Wars animated content coming that should
(24:41):
be my figure and I'm excited about it. I am
excited about it. Don't get around. I can't wait for
me to four. Now we're gonna we already talked about
that kind of off air. We'll solidify it off here.
But I believe we're gonna do an extra episode of
Holy Snokes that week because we can't do and a
three episode and or Coming Out Again and Tales of
the Underworld one episode. Yeah, we'll details.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
We've also got you know, Revenge of the Shift being
re released that week as well, so we are we've
got it good. We've got Celebration and or starting Revenge
of the Sift. This show all within the span of
a week.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
I want to spread it out a little bit out
of it. That's my issue. It's just spread it out
attle bit, because then after that we're like, we're done
until at least.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
We don't have to watch them all at once.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
How we're gonna die watch them and not cover it.
We're gonna cover it.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
I'm gonna we could do an episode a week at
least that covers us till the next thing. I'll have
to say, you're one that's always saying that there's a lot.
I know we watched them an episode a week, but either.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Way, anyway, I want to put the negativity aside. I
don't want to come across completely negative about because I'm
not negative about it. I'm just kind of like trying
to head.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
The reason we are snipping like this is because on
the four cent a live stream the other day, I
heard Ken saying how much he enjoys when you and
me get sniffed at each other.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
We get sniff at each other. Are you sure.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I know he said it? It's he said it relaxes him.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Sorry, Well, can I hope that relaxed you a little bit? Maybe? No?
But for the long activities, I do say I am
excited about. I just want more, that's all. I'm a
greedy bitch, and you're a queen fan.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
You want it, oh, you want to?
Speaker 1 (26:32):
Oh, and you want it now, right exactly. But I
am very excited about Tales in the World as a whole.
I really am excited to watch all six episodes. I'm
gonna be them that night. I'm gonna be excited about it.
I'm gonna talk about it. I'm gonna be excited about it.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
And don't complain about the long wait. If you're gonna
binge him on in one night.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
I can't help it. Oh, well, we watch them at
that point, So I'll do my rewatch. I'm doing my
other watch some to now headlong into the igh of
darkness now. So I'm excited that about the higher rubber
books I'm reading now. So I got stopped to tybe over,
no doubt, but you know it is what it is.
But speaking of books, that is the other piece of
news I was going to talk about today. That transition there,
I am almost unprofessional. There was another announcement today or
(27:11):
not today the other day, about three novels that are coming.
First off, given the you mentioned Revenge of the Sith
anniversary screening. They are actually going to be releasing in
October fourteenth, Revenge of the Matthew Stover's adaptation Revenge of
the Sith is getting a hardcover deluxe edition re released
from Random House world to celebrate the anniversary.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
I have the original one, the adaptation of the movies
that I am.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Yeah, I have that too. I think I have all all.
I think I have all. Imarrageted the Phantom Menace one.
I remember that when that came out as excited.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Sorry, nolization, that's the normalization of the film.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
No, yeah, novelization.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
That's better.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
It is sixty dollars. That's quite a chunk of change.
So what's the deluxe edition me means? So we don't
know what that means, even a hard back, because I
usually thirty dollars.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
So it's just like a lot of trees cut down.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
But yeah, a lot of trees and a lot of
young links.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
And it's read on her but at the throat on Reddit.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Tom Holer, who's the one of the Random House Worlds
editorial director, he did. He was asked about could they basically,
could you justify why it's so expensive and with the
lux branding means, and he just basically applied time will
tell it always does. So I guess there's something planned
to make it deluxe. What that means I don't know,
but I'm excited about that.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Potent sounds like CEO talk for shut the fuck up
and pay it.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Tom's on your side.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
I guess. No, I'm not free. I'm not on to say.
I don't think she's a mad You're making me pay
sixty bucks for a book free Luigi?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Oh my god?
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Next up is also the character by the way, I
know what you mean. I know what you mean.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
We don't go there again. We need a plumber, not political,
I need a plumber. Yes, Star Wars isn't political. What
are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Stop and I will crowd over here. Come on?
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Who cares about those.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
Reading that pitt fanom Menace the Krawl recently? Again?
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Man, that hits hard. George well ahead of your time, brother,
He knew well ahead of your time.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
You know how they say that Matt Groening was the
time traveler when he writes The Simpsons. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I was starting to think George might be as well.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
I'm babing. Absolutely could be is George.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Lucas the next doctor? Is he the real doctor?
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Maybe that would be something we'll never see. My friend, actually,
my friend I brought my son actually showed me his video.
Is I forget where it was? It was a great
using video about someone like they. Basically it was this
video that he George Lucas comes back in time and
thanks so many. Turns out that George Lucas, like the
guy actually wrote Star Wars, and George Luce came back,
stole Star Wars and like hoisted himself and he went
(30:10):
back and so he changed the universe and they got
to the guy never wrote Star Wars then, because back
he wanted to thank him for it. It was like
it was a whole like silly YouTube video, but it
was actually funny. That's pretty funny. Yeah, I just thought
of that, but the time travel thing got to me. Okay.
Next up, we also had in case he lost track
of time to tenth anniversary of The Force Awakens as well,
(30:31):
and according to who are listing on idolways, there's a
new young adult novel coming this September to help celebrate,
written by Kwame Mabala, who wrote the Big Fortunist short
story and from a certain point of view. Return of
the Jedi. Oh yeah, so uh that's I guess that
collection is good. That's where Lamar Giles came from. Who
(30:52):
was doing the upcoming bad Batch novel. So I don't know,
I don't know. That's always a young adult Force Awakens novel.
I don't know what that is actually, again, more of interest.
She is in a nice issue. Yeah, that's right, negotiating one.
That's good. That's a good, good comic book storyline right now,
that's a really fun one I got about honest. But
(31:12):
that take place during the Clone Wars, a pretty dark cycle.
So but either way, so cool forts making some adult
novel I'm all and on. And that's the big one
that I like. And the one I think you'll like
a book called Star Wars Master of Evil. It is
upcoming novel from Random House World, set to be released
(31:32):
on November eleventh. We do not yet know the author,
but over on Blue Sky author Adam Christopher, who you
know as the writer of Shadow of the Sith, I
had been hunting fun trolling fans. He will be present
at celebration, so he's always a celebration. Is easy to
put two and two together. On this one. Potentially that's
what star wars every single one. But if he's having
(31:56):
fun trolling the fans about it, potentially it kind of
felt like he might be the He might be annow
says the author of this particular book.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
What it means he's a very author. He is.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
That's one of my favorite the Disney era books. And
if he is so. But given the title, got I
feel that it's a force uh Sith Jedi Sith novel,
which I feel like is good because I feel like
we've kind of gotten away from that in recent Disney stuff. Like,
I mean, we have Ahsoka as the Jedi side of things,
but a lot of the stuff has been like and
or Skeleton Crew, like almost putting Jedi to the side
(32:31):
of things as we deal with everything else, the underworld stuff,
the Mandalorian stuff, you know, and that's all kind of different. Right,
So are we getting right? So are we getting going?
Are something exploring the more mystical side of things again?
I'm all for that. I'm all for that.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
So let's remember like the Sith is approached to be
shrouded in mystery, right, right, So that's probably why they
don't do as much content about got that they don't
do as much storytelling around the Sith because they are
supposed to be shrouded in mystery.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
I wonder if I wonder like it's gonna be my
My main issue at the point is are we going
to have an original story, which'd be cool? Are we
finally getting the Dizzy Cannon story of say Plaguas is
just like the is what the acclades are not coming,
So we're gonna get our Plaguist novel.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Now says to me that that's his Palpatine.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
To me, well, but Plague's leaves the Palpatine. So that's
what I'm saying, is that the kind of thing we're
gonna get to potentially, is.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
It like a behind the scenes Palpatine is planning or
running the show? Spend boy, his day to day routine
is like, is a Sith.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Or is it the Darth Paine canonization of his storyline?
I mean, he's the he's you've considered the Sith granddaddy
really of the the current orders.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Of the Order of Two. But think how many Siths
he killed?
Speaker 1 (34:04):
All right, well, that's that's pretty evil. He didn't kill guy.
He doesn't doing that for a good thing because they
so he could be the worst of the worst.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
Still did a good deed to my banion, well bad
deed on my side.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
So I mean, I don't know. I don't know if
they're ever going to do that.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Partly says like, yet I should be thanking him.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
That's that's what that is. That sounds like a American
government thing right now.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Anyway, Yes, you should be thanking me. You should be
wearing a suit when you come, when you come to
the Jedi temple, when he comes to the council chambers.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
But either way, I don't always excited about more books.
I am almost finished now, I am about eighty percent
the way through reading The Empire. The person I was
inter for your book, I'm still I will say your
might as well may very. A lot of people love
Alexander Fried. I don't love Alexander Fried as an author
pretent myself and I it's one of those guys where
(35:07):
I feel like I almost feel like I have to
justify because everybody loves them. I don't. But I kind
of like for some reason he doesn't connect with theme
very as well as others do. Oime like, oh I
love him, I love this book, and look it's kind
of like, oh cool, I really want to love you,
but it doesn't connact with me as much. I'm loving
the Bail stuff. I'm loving the Man Mathma stuff especially.
I'm just not loving the the socian part of things,
(35:29):
like is basically his original characters I'm not loving. I'm
loving his take on Man Mathma, liking his take on Bail.
Those are kind of cool, but something about it is
not complete.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
The actually using the phrase justice for the Jedi.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Thank Yeah, I did like that. I did appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
For the Jesse scrimshow called Big Big Smile, I should
give him royalties for that.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Well, I guess either way, I do like it, I
just don't love it.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
I do.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, for sure.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
I have to love everything. You can just like something
and be like.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Absolutely that absolutely. But i do like getting more novels,
and I'm very excited about the other novels coming out,
looking forward to the rest of that trilogy. I'm looking
forward the Higher Public stuff, looking forward to the Alreadio
aforementioned Bad Bash novel. Obviously, good good times are coming,
so I'm excited about that for sure.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
It's like when I had this conversation with John Howey
about the Lost Metallic problem. I can't stand it. I
think it's worse. It's an angle. He loves it.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Yeah, that's true, that's he John Howie. I love mister Holley.
Just broadcast Good Friend, Wonderful Star wars Man. He is definite,
Oh yes, absolutely, oh man. He's definitely a contrary and
of some of kind like he'll definitely take something that
he likes I lovely hate and he will champion the
funk out of it and you know, more more power
(36:54):
to it. I love it.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
When I told him that I like the new album
less than some Anger, he looked like I had just
kicked it dog in front of it. I felt so bad.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Uh wow, all right, what's the news? All the news
that's fit to talk about. It's kind of a.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
It's okay to love something.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
I know.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I know everyone loves I get it. I get it.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
It's just I guess it's more like not that I
don't think it's okay.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I I got it.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
I wasn't saying it wasn't okay. It's more that I
start thinking to myself, well, what am I missing? Because
everybody loves it? So what am I missing here? Bectual?
I always want to try to give it another shot,
But there's got me something I'm missing because everybody I
know whose opinions I really appreciate seems to really enjoy it.
So I'm like, it's not something I'm missing.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (37:49):
But yeah, not so much so far this time for me.
I'm glad people love it. Though I'm glad. I hope
he writes more books for them and everything else. I
hope it's good for them. But I'll let you know
what I read because I get to Alphaba squad alphabet
squashed again. When I get to that part in the
timeline again and I do those rereads, I'll let you know.
Maybe I'll change my mind. Then maybe a second read
of his book will give me something to go on potentially.
(38:10):
But well, all right, the news is a little late
this week, except for like I mean, it was front loaded.
Got a big piece of news in the beginning, not
a lot of other news to talk about. So let's
move on to our rest of our news. The rest
of our episode today, this is our pre watch of
Rogue one. I mentioned this earlier. We are doing a
pre watch. I want to watch Rogue one before we
watch and or Teason two, just to kind of get
(38:32):
us in the mood, get us into the time set,
get to see all the characters, k Tso, Kronick, all
those time people coming back. Let's see where we got
to to see before we see how they got there.
So Rogue one. We do what we're gonna do it
five categories. As we always do, we break things up
into categories here at Pueldy projects segments before we kind
(38:53):
of catch up with the rest of it. Our first
category and I'm going to go back to the old
one for this one. Okay, all right, fine, I'm gonna
go out. You know what, this took place beforehand, so
I'm gonna do both. I'll do it both. We're gonna
gonna buy a by watch double watch, hashtag Hondo watch,
(39:14):
hashtag Mosque watch. Now, of course Mosque introduced to the Andor,
so obviously we had no chance that we were gonna
get a moss patch. Although I did kind of look
from the background, I still kind of looked and see
if the actors in there somewhere, hoping I could see
him somewhere in there. I didn't see him, but you
know who else, I didn't say I didn't see Hondo
(39:34):
or not either, so we are over too on that one.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
It sticks.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
This is actually a film that I understand. I can
almost understand why Hondo's not in it because of the.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Tone and also he's no farther rebellion.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
True, but there's some like underworld aspects you could have
seen him on. I would rather have seen him. I
wanna say, here's spoiler alert. I'd rather have seen him
in a two second cameo and uh doctor episode and pondababa.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Valid. Okay, yeah, that's valid.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
That's why I would have seen him.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
But otherwise, you really hate that cameo? Huh?
Speaker 1 (40:09):
I did that one. I'll talk about it now later
I'll just get into it now. He brought it up
for some reason, that one.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
You would die for me to bring up, like you what,
and usually the guy.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Who loves that ship, I love fan service whatever, I
love connectivity like that. This one got to me because
he just felt like there was absolutely no reason for
it to happen other than to say, remember these guys
from episode four, because like they're the characters are in
(40:41):
tattooin a few hours later or a day later, whatever.
They get time for why It's like they're sitting based
on tattooed Why are they in Jetta? And then we're
going to tattooed Jena is about to get destroyed somehow
they get off Jetta. It just all seemed kind of
like this big leg way, like.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
I said, you lost time. Maybe they went to the
wrong desert.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
Plan, but then they mad that they changed their It
just seems so forced. It was such a ding ding
ding ding moment, Like I think it's worse than the
three po art two one we had. Three had their
moment and that was definitively the same type of cameo.
There's differently like a ding ding ding ding look.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
At that.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
They were at Yavin for or they were at that
place a bit like that made sense that they were there.
So that's kind of like a few it's kind of
like a all right, okay, and there we have had
a movie without three point r two like to throw
me in there that way.
Speaker 2 (41:30):
Sure, so let me pose this to you, and it
is a massive shot in the dog and it is
almost certainly not gonna happen. What if D Squad were
to show up in Ando season two.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
I don't think it's gonna happen, but I'd be honest
it's not.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
But tell me you wouldn't be It depends.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
Like I said, on doesn't make sense.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
No, it doesn't. That's why hilarious.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
Well it could make sense, that's the thing, Tony girl,
I could make it makes sense.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
I think Tony Carey would exactly.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
It could make it make sense. But this just felt
like this one felt with a law for me, and
I was kind of like, see Honda. There would have
been the same type of cameo. I would have been like, hey,
look at that. You know this guy, but like it
still would work a cue. I feel like he was
there doing his thing whatever. All right, let's move on.
Let's wind on our segment that we wrote. Free from
(42:30):
our segment for a minute, I got heated, sniped a
little bit back. I'm finding my balance. Character of the week,
character of their film, our favorite character of Rogue one.
They were basically it's it's pretty self explanatory segment here,
So Maddie, who is your favorite character of Rogue one?
Speaker 2 (42:51):
I apologize to mad Michelson because until I watched this movie,
I was not aware of his work.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
Really, this is where he discovered him.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
This is where I discovered Mads. It's also where Hideo
Kajima discovered Mads.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Well, you were the same person, I think. I think
you are the English the way.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
But and then yeah, he saw Mads and then put
Mad's as the lead villain in his first independent video game,
after leaving karnally from seeing him in this he's not
in it much, but when he is, Holy Ship Is
he is seeing Steeler. Even when it's Cassion looking down
(43:38):
the barrel of the sniper rifle, he's pointing the gun
at him and you're thinking, don't, just please don't, don't,
don't do it because you want, you want the reunion
to happen, right, And he's just like the way he
sells it at the start when Krenit lands and he's
(44:00):
just like a right where's lyrics, he's like lyre passed away,
like you can hear the sorrow in his voice, and
it's just like he knows the like the guilt he
must feel from building the Death Star, being the mastermind
behind the Death Star and now being forced to go
back and being forced to finish it absolutely but still
(44:25):
having that little pin prick of life, pin prick of
light in him to be like, I'm gonna put a
little pin prick in this death star so he can
get rid of it. I'm going to make it so
my life's work can be destroyed. That is.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
You're right. I mean that's a very powerful moment, and
it's powerful. Yeah, he has probably some of the best
moments Trapped the film. I will give you that getting
you mentioned that great performance, the speech to the speech
to the transmission, speech to in the moment with the
rest of the scientists on I do. Yeah, a lot
of great hit and runs about scientists. Those are his guys.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Absolute Cranic's like, all right, we're gonna kill everyone. He's like,
I did it. I kill them anyway. Kranick is probably
my close second. I would say, is.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Awesome be I met Ben Mendelsson, not met, but like
I came to met to know Ben Mendelson. He was
in a Netflix show. He's been actually working for a
long time. I never was saw him anything him in
Netflix show called Bloodlines.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
With two episodes of that.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
I'll guy from Friday Night Friday Night Lights. I'm feeling
his name now, d Lines. Kyle Chandler, that's a Kyle
Chandler okay, and that move that show was pretty would show.
But beyond that, like Ben Mendelson's performance was award working
(46:07):
and I was like, oh, I'm sorry, I didn't recognize
your game. I kind of I know your game, yeah,
pretty much. So I was really looking forward to seeing
him and everything he's been in since then, I will
go in. He's one of the actors. Now he's like
not quite you know, at aris level, but if he's
in something, I'm happy to go see it. Like, oh,
he's a reason I would go see a movie. I go, Okay,
Ben Medlson it, I'm sorr, I'll go see it. So
(46:30):
getting him involved, I.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
Mean I watched not because it's not Secret War is
an Invasion? Secret Invasion? Yeah, I sat through that fucking garbage.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
Yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Was not the best.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Of course, Kira was in Secret Invasion as well, though.
Speaker 2 (46:50):
I Mean the cool thing about it was we finally
got a good live action Dragon ba z by at
the end. You see the dragon Ball Evolution is no
longer the worst rated movie.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
Oh no, what is it now?
Speaker 2 (47:06):
The new snow White. I'm gonna make a shipload of
buttery accounts and I'm gonna change that back because that
Dragon Revolution movie. Fuck try.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
Ben Medilson, though, is phenomenal, like to see, I'm glad
it's even this as well all throughout their my favorite character.
I almost feel bad saying this because like he's just
he's so comic relief, but I just don't care.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
It's Kate to usself, It's bro. How can you know?
Speaker 1 (47:36):
He makes me laugh the entire time. Every time that
Katso is on screen, I smile, I anticipate laughing. I
usually do laugh. And he doesn't have the most dramatic
moments and the story wise, but like he just has
he has. He does have one great dramatic moment though,
towards the end, like, which is very powerful, when he
finally like accepts gin as about with gin and like
(48:00):
and then sacrifices himself. You're like, I guess, dude is awesome.
I can't wait to see what happens with him in
season two. The best thing about him being a droid
is that even though he died died, he's a droid.
You can come back somehow. Yeah, he died and Scareff
exploded or Scarce and exploded, but we can still find something.
There's so easy way he got cash into the backup
(48:23):
somewhere that he was on. They're gonna go back to
like I don't know, You're gonna go back to Ferris
and find a USB ploy with Kts's personality on it
or something, and you buy it.
Speaker 2 (48:33):
He's all is such a good voice actor, right. I
had an indious album moment with him in this movie.
I didn't know he was American until this. Oh really
because of him in A Nice Tale, of course, He's
English accent is so fucking good that I've been. I've
(48:57):
gone through my entire life thinking that he's English.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
I forgot. I always forget it.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
When everyone discovered that Adrius is English, everyone was like,
what the fuck?
Speaker 1 (49:08):
I always forget that? How much of a seminal movie?
A Nice Tale was for you?
Speaker 2 (49:13):
My favorite movie?
Speaker 1 (49:14):
I know, I don't I shouldn't say I forget, but
I like a nice style, but it was never a
seminal movie for me, Like I like, I watch it,
it's good, but I don't watch it. Yeah, and I
love that it is for you. I love that is
for you, by the way, but I haven't watched it
probably since three only two thousands whatever, So I forget been.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
The two musicals that was We Were Rocky with my
Granddad and the Back of the Future Musical with rich
soul streaming. I am going to the a Nice Tale musical.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
Is there gonna musical? I didn't even know that.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
Yeah, it's opens next week.
Speaker 1 (49:45):
Oh wow, good for you for you nice I have no.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Idea who's in it, no idea who any of them are, but.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
I'm going He chose two other good musicals, so I'll
tell you that much. Those are good fun ones. So
I yeah, I didn't realize. I forgot that Alent Jude
was in this movie like so his For me, it
was Firefly strateity that brought me in, brought me Alan
Tuo okay, which I love. I loved it and I've
seen him Everything's Dollhouse so good. In Dollhouse, the other
(50:15):
Josh Whedon show that was afterwards, that was very underrated.
He was like a joker kind of character, but he
was freaking good.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
Are they remaking Firefly?
Speaker 1 (50:23):
I see that We've talked about doing that for a while,
talking about rebooting it and stuff. I don't they'll remake it.
I think they're gonna do anything. They'll bring it back
like Nathan Fillian. They'll come back kind of thing, I think,
But god, that's that's I think that's probably what the
hold up is. Although they're doing Buffy, so I don't
I mean, I don't know. I don't know at this point,
it's hard to say. But either way, that's what Alan
(50:47):
got to me. I love Alentudick as well, so Alan,
you're you're right. He's also great. He's the great, the
great boys for the I Robot, speaking of other Robot
characters he's done and everything else. So he sunny, Yeah,
he was sunny. Really Yeah, I didn't know that. Yeah,
that was him.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
So he's a he's a phenomenal final actor and he
doesn't get the credit he deserves. No, I agree, of course.
He's also people always kind of forget that he's in
Dodgeball mm hm he's the Pirate R. But Kaseys just
makes my day in that, and I love I love
him in this. And it's funny watching Rogue one, rewatching
(51:26):
Rogue one, and how much I love Genevieve O'Reilly in
and Or It's obviously it's obviously hasn't found her character
completely yet in Rogue one, Like she's fine, she's good,
but it feels like she's so much better in indoor h.
It's not trying to be a dig.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
At her in a way, but she's got she's got
more to work with.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Yeah, that that's all. It is like a smaller role,
and I'm so happy that she came back for it,
especially because we're getting a ship a ton of great
work for her. And and Or it felt like she
was so kind to trying to find her way because
he didn't have a lot to work with. Absolutely, she
was there for a couple of minutes here in there,
but you do have some great moments with Jimmy Spence.
There was some nice, little great one of my favorite
lines and I'm not giving it away because not my I.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Think everyone's just called chemistry with Jimmy Smith.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
That's're not wrong there. They're not wrong there, but obviously
telling what she asks about the Jedi and uh and
he tells her in laser and the basicallylaser to go
better and stuff. That was that kind of cool moment.
I will say she actually had one of my favorite sequences,
kind of fist put moments when after they turned jin
Orso down, they go to Scaiff, but then Jind and
(52:31):
cast go anyway, and they come back and they tell
mon Moth like the fleet's gone. They've gone to scaiff
and you'll get man Mop and who had been the
one saying sorry without the all, without the complete agree
in the Senate, we can't do it. They tell her
this happened, and she try listens, starts like a little smile,
like a little like hm them bekase of. Then it's like, yeah,
that's mo Mop, that's the mod Mop I know.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
I love.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
Yeah all arnats. Move on to I spec our favorite
lines of dialogue, Maddie. I'll I'll go back and forth.
And I had a couple I'll throw in there from
movies I always like, can troll a couple. Most of
them are katy. I saw funny ones. That's the problem.
I wish I had some serious ones. But I'm gonna
start with a chronic funny one. It's funny because his delivery.
(53:17):
It's not funny because of the situation, but it's his
delivery that makes me he chuckle.
Speaker 4 (53:22):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
Oh, here's Lner back from the dead. It's a miracle.
Oh there's Lyric back from the dead. Miracle.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Such a prick. I love it.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
Well, I'll let you go with one next.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
So this is my favorite quote from the movie. And
this guy is gonna come up a lot. Okay, cheer
it in Way when he says there is one there's
more than one sort of prison captain that says that
you carry yours wherever you go.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Cheret and Way just brings the use for the last
we quotes glare and just keeps very typecast.
Speaker 2 (54:04):
Wonder thou very typecast. But we also going to get
it to him when we get to comedy.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
Yeah, he he.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
I've been watching Donny in since I was a child.
I did not know he had these kind of comedic chops, right.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
I almost want to taste saying so I don't want
to go off on a tangent that we yielded up
the tannion for five years on and all that kind
of time. You came here late. How excited are you
about Donnie and directing Kane John Win John.
Speaker 5 (54:37):
I don't know what I did to deserve this, but
thank you. Yeah, I'm excited about that too, very excited
about that.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
We've got an Amus my future wife in the Ballerina.
We have Donni Yete doing the kinge Is it a movie?
Is a shot it's this movie. This movie, make it
like three and a half hours.
Speaker 1 (54:59):
There's an animated equal coming with John Wick. Animated prettyquel
and basically John's the story of John doing his thing
to get out that while they're doing an animated they're
doing an animated one.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
There's a very comic coming, give me give me Another
John story.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Of John getting off front of the high table, going
back to his wife. But the kills he made. Is
there a comic book at that?
Speaker 2 (55:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Okay, Well, they're doing the new movie Possible. Okay, they're
doing a movie on it, and of course they are
doing John w five Now I was announced senem Acon.
Speaker 2 (55:30):
Give me John Wick twenty three. Okay, I just hope you.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
I love the idea. I just hope that they're doing
it for the right reasons because John mcford did have
like quite read. Don't think that's why they do. I
don't think that's why they're doing it, But I just
hoped I because like they did have such a great finale.
I do hope that it's more of like a they
have a good story to tell and not just here's
(55:57):
a bag of money kills you.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
My pitch, my pitch and You're right. We are getting
on a tangent. So I'm gonna give me my pitch
and then we're gonna go back. John Wick Keanu has
been going on and on about how he wants to
do Constantine too.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
This is the Jeff Alterman pitch as well, John Hell.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
It's the Jeff pitch because I told Jeff about this.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
Oh is it Jeff calling you out?
Speaker 2 (56:23):
Well? Jeff from calling you out? Because I told Jeff
on this. John Wick goes to Hell and then becomes
John and Constantine.
Speaker 1 (56:33):
Oh interesting, I thought when I heard it was John
Wick fighters way out of Hell and teams up with
John Constantine. A Reeves double role that's pitched at one.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
You could do that, you could do opposed of that
double act.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
And somehow Neo comes in and saves the day. Uh,
let's move on, move on. Okay, other line of dialogue
we got, I'll throw another one in there. This one
was definitely cake u s O one. You're letting him
keep it? Would you like to know the probability of
her music it against you? It's high, It's very high.
And it was just like the learning of the line
(57:11):
is funny enough, but as the it's the weight the
pause and he dismisses it and he keeps going with you.
It's high, It's very high. Yeah, anywhere for you.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
Anytime Galen calls Jin my stardust. Oh yeah, I never
thought of calling someone I love my stardust.
Speaker 1 (57:33):
And now I'm like, I'm taking that one, taking that one.
You're gonna take one.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
Okay, there's the no because I think comedy. I don't
really want to use it.
Speaker 5 (57:46):
Now.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
I had a couple of comedy ones I'm actually saving
too well. I want to do that. This is actually
a funny one, but I'll say anyway, hopefully I'm not
stepping on your toes and this one either, ky too,
so Jin, I'll be there for you. Cassing said I
had to, but it's a good one. And I will
also throw out there, uh it's Some people call it
(58:10):
too sentimentals. Some people call it cheesy. I don't care.
Rebellions are built on hope. Still gets me, still gets
me going.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (58:18):
I'm all for that. I'm okay with that.
Speaker 2 (58:20):
Anytime someone replies to me on social media with the
hawk eyed, don't give me hope, right, That's why I
always reply with.
Speaker 1 (58:30):
Relliant, brilliant two great categories. Okay, moving on, put that
in your hole, Upron and snooke it explore more, louree, man,
what do you want to explore? What do you want
to see? Get further exploration on.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
It's easy. More of the Yeah, more Churret and bass Wills. No,
not even just the guy in the Wills, Like how
did Baze become like because Chirt even says that he
was one of the biggest believes what changed right empire?
(59:04):
It's not it's not covered in the in the book.
Speaker 1 (59:07):
M which is a disappointment that should have been covered
in the book.
Speaker 2 (59:11):
Like what made him lose his faith? Like was it?
Did he believe that the Jedi turned against the Emperor?
I kind of I kind of wouldn't think that he
would believe that.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
Yeah, I would With the big.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
Jedi procession that we see in Mask of Fear, you
can imagine he was there. But yeah, more more, more
of those two.
Speaker 1 (59:34):
I agree. I said Guardians of the Wills as one
of mine, and but that was like, that's more of
the general because I do want to go more with
the Guardians of the Wills in general too, But yes,
space and I think I'd love to new builds. I
would love the Gardens of the Wills like animated show. Honestly,
be an animated show where you just like what they do,
what they did with the Jedi everything else, and have
them be like the focus of their leads.
Speaker 2 (59:54):
Have you read the book? I did?
Speaker 1 (59:57):
Yeah, I liked the book. I remember, I don't remember
a lot of it. I'll be honest. I kind of
read it once and I'm gonna reread it eventually. But
I love that idea, though. I'll throw another one there
for me. I wantn't know, and I think we might
get it. We might be getting an indoor Season two
is how did suck it to be so decrepit by
the time this happened? Like he's like conspiracy, He's got
(01:00:18):
the breath going on like everything about time, Like so
was the last time we saw him er season one?
He wasn't quite there, just you know, unhinged. But so,
what's how does that happen to your economy? Is he
at is he at the Gorda massacre? And that's what
happens to him?
Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Maybe he is essentially the old dude in the conspiracy theorist,
like with the hot that board it up, and he's
in a wheelchair right like the crazy old kooky conspiracy theory.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
Guy, I mean I love it. I love it, Yeah,
but I want to know more about it, to be honestly,
I got to actually, for the first time felt a
little you're not gonna You're gonna hate me for this,
and I'm sorry we're gona slipe again. I actually felt
some I don't he's not the right word, but I did.
I felt like I was saying so like he really
(01:01:07):
I didn't realize how like low he had gotten, like
at the point where he actually almost like, why didn't
you run? Like he's so tired and she's so dune.
Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
Get that to him. You have done that yourself, you
know what.
Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
I've done a lot of things to myself that I'm
not I'm not happy, but I still can feel basic
compassion for them. I know you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Here's another piece of law that I want to explore.
How much of his body was left after that explosion?
Was his head? There can I like hold up Soilgerere's head?
Probably No, I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (01:01:48):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
I actually I don't think you can. It's it's gone.
It's pretty gone. I think he is thinking of that immolated.
I think this poor guy stand.
Speaker 2 (01:01:56):
Like is it. It's a very tragic story what happened
to him. But at the same time, you have revolutionaries
like that that go down a path that they just
going to fall.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
Absolutely and I'm not I'm definitely not saying he didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
That's not you know, I know you like I know
you known't say that. I mean, the man did kill kids, he.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Did his But like just it's a tragic story where
he came from. And I think he's just so good character.
Not good character, a good character, good evil Okay, written well,
well written character. I like watching him and he's fascinating
to watch the whole his whole story, considering like he
(01:02:38):
doesn't have a single real piece of like media that's
really his story. You've gotten a lot of Like he
had the oner on arc, We've had an appearing in rebels,
we have like the book with Jin yeah one he's
in and or we have this whole storyline of his character.
It's fascinating and like bad Batch as wells fascinating character
(01:03:00):
like character arc, but he's not the focus of any
of it. It's kind of cool that we had a
character that has an arc over that many different pieces
of media. That's not like the focus on any of them.
I think that's just kind of like that shows how
like well developed that character really is over time. So
I want to see poor Id like to get to
see I like to see a Saw one off from
saws point view. I know, I and he had a
(01:03:20):
little bit of that, also a Maskafere a little bit
of that. But I was actually I think that's one
of the things I'm disappointed about that book. In that
side of things, we had Saw, but there was an
article about it with the I think with the Random
House guy, how Alexander Free chose not to do a
POV from Saw, that POV from Bail, POV from man
MafA and I was POV from Sojian instead of Saw
(01:03:44):
because he didn't want to get into Saw's head too
much about that, And I'm like, no, I want to
get into Sau's head. That's my I love the idea
of seeing things from his side. So I'm hoping that
that's not what happens the next two books, to be honest,
just throwing that out there. I think I'm bitter at
Sojian because, like he social is a fine character, but
I want to know more about Saul.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Yeah, uh, anything else?
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
Any other one you wanted to mention or are you
good there?
Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
No, I'm good. I think what's the next one is covered?
I do?
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
I just want to say I did want to throw there.
The other thing I'm kind of interested in is Draven
as a character. I like Draven and like he's kind
of like that Saw character.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
And I was like, but I agree with you, okay Draven.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
Because you know, Draven is like the hard ass I
saw a partisan kind of guy that's in the monmoutha
rebellion side of things. It's kind of like that.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Well you know that.
Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Urse absolutely has Chanel driven said he starts flying the
X one, he's really at the high ground. Then he's
really exactly he's up.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Here there down. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
We always find a way, always find a way winds away.
Next time is actually not count Yeah. We got to
go to the action movements. Seen a lot of action
an action beat, and there's a ton of them in
this movie. It is definitely it's not like we have
some problems to dand we're having some briefer like low moments.
As far as action goes, there's a ton of action
in this movie the first Yeah, because you know what,
(01:05:21):
I want to get this out of the way, because
there's been sounding like you almost feel like it's it's hip,
so like not like this anymore as Buch, it's like,
oh that's too much.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
I just don't like it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I've seen people say stuff to me. It's like so
it's like everybody loves it, so then people gotta be
contrary and about it. Well, we didn't need it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
It's just fuck up, you fucking weeves. Just enjoy it.
Just enjoy the Vader always walking down the hallway, killing
your shipload of people.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
You want your horror, and Star Wars you got it,
and got it for at least a minute there. That
is basically horror movie. In Star Wars, Vader is your monster.
He's slashing and dashing, he's poking Ryan and he's just
kicking ass and it's so scary.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
It is turning around and seeing Jason Fole he's in
Mike myyes, at the end of the whole way.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
But because he has a ways of and you can
use the force, you just yeah, you have to catch
up to He's well it's so brutal.
Speaker 1 (01:06:20):
Yeah, so I like this boom boom boom, boom boom boom.
Standing there watching oh so good like that reminded me
of when I was a kid.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
And I was scared of Beda.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
Ah. It made Vader very scary again, And I think
that's necessary at some points. We don't get a lot
of that, And like, I'm not one of those guys
who out there needs a Vader movie or a Vader
TV show. We get all that for I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
Need that fucking saga about Beda.
Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
I don't need that for like ninety minutes or two hours.
We don't need that. But it's nice to get to
see that happen now and again in capsulated into a story.
So I'm all for it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
It's just like like the light, everything goes pitch black,
he gets a little hint of red and then it
goes to black and then.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Just in the music, operatic chral.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
Beautiful, Tony knew what he is. Tony gwy done a
horror movie. No, he should, he should, really should.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
I mean, Gareth Evans has done god Zillos. It's hard
hard to know who did what for that sequence. Really,
I've heard I've heard many people like at first people
thought it Tony grew Roy. But then somebody will push back.
Somebody who was there pushed back and said it was
actually Gareth Evans sing. So I don't want to throw
out there saying it's either you know what I mean,
whoever was I can't tell who it was, whoever was Brava.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Maybe it was George.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
I've got it, Bend. You never know, it could have
been Yea'm looking through Tony's thing. He did the Devil's Ad.
He wrote the Devil's Advocate.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Which is like the final scene the you know, the
sadist Ye.
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
So there's a you know, obviously a side of horror
for there for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
How fun must it have been to write that? Fortini? Yeah, yeah, great,
knowing that you're going to get screaming out Pacino screaming
out absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Uh. He also did a uncredited right writing work on
Edery of the State, which we covered recently on Class Action.
All Right anyway, uh, any other after Pitts you want
to throw in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
There, I mean, the whole fight scene in the Square
of Jetta, all of it, even with Bays when K
two shows up. Yeah, it's like something out of an
old like World War two film. You've got this screaming
child in the middle of this square that's like been
(01:08:54):
separated from its mother. You've got Chirret there just diving
on everybody. And then absolutely this like showdown between the
yeah so as partisans and the Empire. Right, it's just
like and it's all happening in this holy see so
no literally nowhere is safe. Agreed, that's fucking cool.
Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
When the tank comes in, you're like, oh oh, absolutely,
And the cheered part was wonderful because getting the h
the the martial arts side of things and Star Wars
has not happened very much. Obviously has lights of revits
that we want and Anakin we're really well done, really
(01:09:41):
choreographed and everything else, but that real genuine Eastern influence
on fighting was there. With with a genuine Eastern fighter,
it was very Jackie Chan. Yeah, it was. It was
like action comedy, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Like you know how Jackie Chan would be like and
then he'll look like like you'll make a funny face
and then they'll do the next bit.
Speaker 1 (01:10:04):
Yep, yep, I got it. Didn't It's funny. Maybe didn't.
If you want to go watch a Jackie Chan movie,
have you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
Seen the video of him choreographing the fight scene from
Rush Hour. Yes, good, it's so good, and he's like
walking Chris Tucker through it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
Yeah, what else action wise? Oh, I should throw him
the hammer had sequence and during the battle the space
battle had like knocking into the starter shore like freaking
week that's cool. That's a great moment for sure. Uh,
the whole battance character's all sorts of cool moments. I
(01:10:47):
mean chasey Anderwer started. Yeah, absolutely the Deaths of Typic
where basically we found out who and it was like, oh,
that was the defining moment I think right away. It
was kind of like, oh, I just made that joke
before the Oh I didn't know what your game was.
I'm sorry, Cassie, and kind of like that's who you are,
but this is this is who you are. Okay, no
(01:11:08):
question on who shot first hair he shot only at
that point, so I liked. I love that part of
it as well. So yeah, okay, any other action, but
you want to highlight or you want to go on
to we can, we can move Okay, comedy haha, laughing
up Fuzzball on our favorite funny moments, Go ahead, him out.
I don't even waiting to say it the whole time,
(01:11:29):
So I'll let you go ahead and started way.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
To defend this and to mention him again. I'm sorry, Ken,
I know you hate this moment. Be careful not to
choke on your aspirations.
Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
It's so cheesy, so bad, and I'm all good. I
I am not one who ever people to have grown
at that, and I was. I laughed by I laugh
my but I that was break like even the shots
just like him just like from behind, like yeah, yeah,
(01:12:06):
asn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
Like that's Anakin. That's not they that that's Anakin.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
Yeah that's good. Let's see. Uh, I'll throw another one
in there. This is and one I don't think you'll
have and I don't think anyone will have for me.
It was an underrated moment, understated moment as well. It's
but I chuckle out every time. It's Diego's reappraisal of
(01:12:33):
Gin during the battle on Jetta, like they're fighting and fighting.
Also when he turns and like she like beats up
three storm troopers whatever, and Diego Luna just has like
look at his face just goes like it basically is
where I'm overusing the phrase now. It basically is oh
I didn't understand your game and what in one look
that kind of like, oh okay, I don't know why
(01:12:56):
eol vibe chuckle every time. Great face from Diego and
who does a great performance throughout the entire movie. But
that was just one of those things like like I
love that moment. It's very underrated. Never heard anybody talk
about it. One ishlight it so.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Let's uh, let's shine a light on thy in. And
how I didn't know he didn't I didn't know he
had these coveredy chops. When they put the bag over
his head, he just goes, are you kidding me? I'm blind?
Every time it gets me yep, yep. Every time when
(01:13:32):
fighting the two stormtroopers other side of it, and he
digs his stick into their foot and he goes, is
your foot all right? Where? Baze shoots all those stormtroopers
in a row, and he just goes, you gotta shot me.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
I love the Actually the follow up to that too,
Let's them together. The Force protected me? I protected you too.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Yeah, you know what kind of show would people like
project would be best for those two, like a Buddy Coupler.
Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
Leath the Weapon. I would love that. I would so
buy into that I don't know how you make it
work because where they are the thing, but like maybe
that's what the art of the guardians the wheels when
they leave Jeda and they have to go off and
like find missionaries kind of something, or they get in
they had the saves. I don't know, maybe you have
to save another fellow missionary or something that got cat
(01:14:28):
pirates have kidnapped one of their people. That I would
love that to be the case. Have that be a film.
Have the run into like they could run into like Orlando,
they could run into Hondo, they could run into like
there's so much potential in that. But look at this
point he'd be too young. Or maybe they go to
town Jeda.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Maybe they find it, maybe they are looking for obi Wan.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Okay, okay, I guess I could do that. I gotta
want to stay away from tattoo that you want to
just be like away from that aspect of it though personally,
but I get that's that's definitely something they couldn't do
terms and down, though they can involved with potentially it
can be like there's a lot of things you can do.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
For sure, they go to.
Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
Jabba on tattooing. That makes sense that kind of sense
and you that's what happens. I could see that. That's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
M all right, you guy, because I know who you
want to bring up next.
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
And there's a fresh one if you mouth off again,
So slapping that go. If you watch that again, like
I watched it, I rebounded a few times. Diego Luna
almost cracks like he almost laughs, like he gets smacked,
and he says it and he has to kind of
like do what of those like I gotta try my
face here off the camera because he's kind of got
(01:15:45):
the smile of his face. That's all Diego and not casting.
I feel I feel good. Maybe it is you played
out there. That's Cassian laughing at k to myself doing
that because it's a serious situation. But you can tell
how much how funny that was to him.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
I think that's one of these things. It's kind of
like you have to leave that in. Yeah, he was
about to crack, like you kind of have to leave
that in just because it shows how good of a
performance they put it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
Absolutely maybe laps All right, go ahead, I know you
have another one.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Did you know that wasn't me? When Jin shoots the
K two droid that's behind him yes, m m.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
Well the other one, congratulations you are being rescued. Do
that resist after rock bottling them down?
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
Love? Or when he goes sure, I'll just stay on
this ship and he throws the grenade behind.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
I don't mean when he's trying to like bullshit his way.
I don't have that. I didn't write down the exact
that line. But their Cassian and Jin are in getting
the startups thing and he's like, well the rebels they're
over there, and oh well, I think we're gonna get.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
More mothers like that because in the trailer when he
just sucks that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:07):
Absolutely absolutely so all right, Uh anymore you want to
throw in there? Nah, we cover, make ones alight, let
it go through with my notes and anything else. Uh
no crawl at the beginning. Are we fan of that
or not a fan of that?
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
Don't mind?
Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
He didn't mind? Okay, I I think I decided I
prefer the crawl overall. I just like it, even if
it's not an adjusted crawl like was for Solo or
for like a Soka for example. I like a little crawl.
It didn't bother me completely. It kind of felt really abrupt,
like it was so weird, like abruptly game. But yeah,
overall's good. Let's see. Oh, you know, I want to
(01:17:46):
throw in there. I really want to shout out Michael Gike,
you know, because I did not love the score the
first time I saw this movie, Like I just didn't
connect with my first like real on John Williams scores.
So maybe I was holding a little bit of grudge maybe,
like it irrational grudge, Like it's not like it's not
like Michael's fault and like he no, they fired John Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Right, it's kind of like you're doing Star Wars through me.
I think you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
But then I watched it again with the guy at
the back of the show being like impressed me bro exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:18:22):
Now it's one of my favorite Star Wars scores. Like
I actually thrown it up there with some of the
great jobs, Like it is a wonderful score. There's some
moments that are kind of like at the abrupt beginning,
I'm not a big fan of that part. There's some
moments where it's like a little cheesy. But overall, given
the guy got the fact that the guy had like
two weeks to do it, I think it was or
two or three weeks to do it, like because it
got was Alexander the splot. I believe it was supposed
(01:18:45):
to do it and then he left or what I
don't evenither way he So Michael's like, you know, he
gets like two or three weeks to do it and
he comes up with that. That's awesome, that's phenomenal, great themes,
Jin's themes, start Us theme, powerful stuff. It's it's really
and the Vader Always sequence already mentioned perfectly Ard Vader Operatic.
Carol loved the score so much. It's right up there
(01:19:08):
with all my other favorite Star Wars s wors so honestly, also,
I would put it right up there with with the
the Kiner and Williams of at all.
Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
If if we're getting shout outs, we absolutely have to
talk about Rizoned.
Speaker 1 (01:19:22):
Yeah you're rock, Yes, good, good, good gun.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
He went through fucking hell and not only did he
not give up, he stepped up continuously and gave his life,
gave his life.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
God, I hope they bring him back. I really do hope.
Like I just like, give me one episode of and
or season two where we see him.
Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
I would love to see that as well. I really would.
I don't know, we have room for it. I feel
like I feel like it's gonna I feel like, honestly,
I think the case I think what's gonna come down to,
it's like, do we have time for riz matter? Do
we have time for Matt Nicholson kind of thing. I
think like maybe one of the other feel like that's
(01:20:12):
the way. I feel like that might be the case.
If that's the case, you gotta go with Mads. I think, yeah,
But maybe it's poet maybec MAT's talking to. Maybe not
the maybe Like the last episode has a kind of
a cameo at the end, it would be kind of cool,
Oh yeah, okay, it's oh the message well played by
(01:20:34):
Felicity Jones when she watches Galen and her heartbreaks and
she's to start a spoloting like it's it's very well played.
It could be it's something that she could have overacted easily,
but she didn't. She just kind of played it pretty subtle,
just kind of blank face, but you can still see
the emotion on the face. A really beautiful, really beautiful
moment there. Kind of reminded me a little bit of
(01:20:55):
Endgame with Tony Stark and his daughter honestly a little
bit like that kind of think like Game watched the
rough win a little bit. Maybe he had a little
cool idea of, well, we could do this. I'm not
saying that happen, guys, I'm just saying it potentially.
Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Coffee my homework and make it look like you didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:21:10):
Yeah, exactly, good, good case there. Love the rebels toossouts
there and gets see Chopper briefly and the general Sendilla mentioned.
But more importantly it's the meaningful cameos. I mentioned the
all the pilot's goal leader red leader during the battle,
(01:21:31):
they reappropriated a new Hope footage and got the guys
to go backstats and after your lions they got to
fill in the gaps. That was great because that is
exactly what I was talked before. It makes absolute sense
to have that happen, absolute sense to have that happen.
Peter Cushing is well, yeah, Peter Cushing as well. But
I know people didn't like that, but I thought that
actually was very good too. And someone I understand the
(01:21:53):
technology is still not there and it was definitely less
there back then ten years ago. As long as the
family's okay with that, I don't think this is a problem,
which they were, which they were, and I'm okay with that.
I think it's a fine enough thing. I understand that. Yeah,
I don't know. I never heard anything again, so Disney
probably paid them some puppy money and how happened. But
(01:22:17):
I do like I like that more than I don't
want to see a full show, like I wouldn't want
to even go, oh, we're gonn announce the Adventures of
Luke Skywalker and we have, you know, recreated Luke. Now,
I don't want to recreate or recreated Carry. Wouldn't want
see something like that absolutely, but like having recreated Carry
at the very end of Rogue one, it would have
meant a lot to me, I thought, I mean, she was,
(01:22:38):
she knew about that obviously, and she and she approved
of that one specifically. So I loved that. I thought
that was a wonderful moment. And like you're like, oh,
it doesn't look right. It looks good enough. It gets
the point across, and I I when I saw that,
my heart was like, nice, we.
Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
Used to watch puppets, dude, It's okay, We're fine with that.
Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
So I I had mark me down to one who's
pro revisiting characters digitally if the proper steps are taken
and it makes sense story wise and everything else. Now
that brings up a good point for Anarchiston.
Speaker 2 (01:23:14):
Two.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Why are we gonna see Tarkan again? We could? I
do think you could get away without getting him at
this point.
Speaker 2 (01:23:21):
Yeah, Again, it comes down to that who do you pick?
Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
I mean, we have Krenick in there, and the story
is about Kronick more than his target at this point.
Tarkan kind of comes in and takes over during World one,
So I don't think you need to. You could have
maybe Steven Stalton to the voice like a transmission or
something you need to hear his voice potentially mentioned him.
I don't think you need Tarking for this go.
Speaker 2 (01:23:43):
The hawaiis as well. You don't need talking right.
Speaker 1 (01:23:46):
And if they have him there, am I gonna like fight?
Am I gonna get pissed? Tony Groy has been there? No,
Because there was something that Tony Groy said that made
me think we might get him, or something about I
forget the exact quota is something that led to me
to believe like they had gotten further in the technology
or something, and know he's gone a long way, so
maybe we'll see him. But I mean I think that, like,
for example, I know that Arkin is the one who
(01:24:06):
does the corner massacre in Legends. At least I think
you could pass it off to Krenic in in Orgerson
two and be fine to do that in a way.
But we'll see anything else. Let's see seeing the Death
Star is fun seeing if that's our action the plants plans. Yes, yes,
(01:24:29):
that was nice.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
It's a good touch. Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (01:24:33):
Off Gideon knows that. I guess he's aware of these
things potentially, mh But yeah, I do like that, and
I I guess I love the hope and lay about
the end and the whole sequence there. I love the
fact that we get they their ballsy and they killed
off the entire crew like people didn't think they're gonna
do it, thin Dizzy wouldn't do it. They did, And
I think that meant.
Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
Everything at that point and again made the death st
All scary again mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (01:24:59):
That's why it's very scary right now. Great moments store
there when the death Start blows up, Jedier blows up
Scaraff and Krenich watched it coming. You're like he knows
this coming, knows the death's coming, and he's like fuck,
Like it's just it's it's a powerful moment. But Cassidan
and Jin sharing that moment at the end that's a
powerful as well.
Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
That was actually where the last two people left alive.
Speaker 1 (01:25:24):
Yeah, that is the thing. I think it's gonna look
a lot different after you watch and Dason two, like
after what we were watched. Energyson one ERGEs In two
into Rogue one, smooch Cassi, Cassy's death in general, it's
gonna hit harder because in Rogue one he was a
people kind of forget now because he's I think a
lot some people forget now, but he's like a secondary character.
It's really Jin's show for the most part. Cassian is
(01:25:45):
there and it's important, but Chin show. Now we know
a lot more about Cassian and his background and he's
like the hero of his show. So seeing him kick
the bucket is almost part. I think it's more meaningful
now because it has more we have the more depth
of character, that more we have spent time with em.
It'sapter just one movie. It's twenty four episodes, or will
be twenty four episodes, and then the movie so like that.
(01:26:08):
I guess he thinking. I also like, oh, it's just death,
and we're like you started thinking of Marblo, we started
thinking of bis, we started thinking of a Brasso would
be two emo and everything else. Well, that's in our head.
When he goes, when he goes, it's a great it's
gonna be a great moment, stays a great post watch. Yeah,
we cry, Yeah we cry A thousand tiers out of
(01:26:28):
one thousand tiers or whatever. It is, all right, anything
else you want to break down?
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
And I mentioned ever may I think I think that's
pretty much everything. I'm ready to give it this bad
boy that's.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
Gonna be bad Boys score and always rate things on
the scale of one to eleven because we always turned
things up to eleven here on PLD projects. What do
you give this one, Mattie, This is a ten point five.
Speaker 2 (01:26:46):
This is my favorite movie out of the current era.
Speaker 1 (01:26:50):
All they did is in the era. Okay, I give
it a ten out of eleven. Five is pretty close
to it, I would say, though, I could definitely see
that as far as my favorite one outside the Yeah,
I think it might be mine too, for.
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
It shot for something different. We have a spy thriller.
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
Right, Yeah, yeah, I would. I would throw Solo up
there as well from me, because I think there's again
a lot of it today. I think it's gets under
like Rogue One. If anything, I hate I hate saying this,
but if anything is overrated, where Solo is underrated, I
think that's what I have in my head. And I'm
not saying that Rogue one is overrated, but definitely seems
(01:27:29):
like everybody loves her going and he's like the best one,
best one, blah blah blah, whereas like people like hate
on Solo or for stupid reasons, and I think they're both.
You know, I think Rogue deserves its laurels. But if
it was anything, it was either properly rated or overrated.
Sol way underrated, So I feel bad about that. I
want it gives Solos flowers, so to speak. Yeah, but yeah,
(01:27:54):
so that's that's gonna do it for us. Folks will
be uh here next week. Thank you so much for
joining us. I work with folks. Find you matic.
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
You'll find me on social media at Matte Mona. You
can find my band Mona on all shooting platforms. You

(01:29:12):

that Thursday when mand is in Japan, or I might
not do a show on Thursday. I might just kind
of go live Friday night or Saturday night when it's
when Celebration is going on and kind of do news

it's like overnight early in the morning, so you can
either watch me live you're late at night out or
(01:29:34):
the following day I'll be up. You can turn my
discussion on that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
I might be able to join you for the morning

Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
Them, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
Maybe we'll keep that in mind.
Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
We'll see what we can do. But I want to
make sure you have your time fun as well. You

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Death everyone everyone who ever put a drink in my head.
Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
That's true, jama and joke. A GiMA gonna be hanging out,
doesn't It doesn't matter. He shill be hanging out with
where you will you drink?
Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
We're gonna be, We're gonna become. And I'm gonna tell
him and be like my car has said that you
are not gonna heart, you are not gonna direct the
newstal Wars movie. And he's gonna come out the next day.
It'd be like I am the man, I am the
new If if.
Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
That happens, because you tell him what I said, I
will gladly own that and say I made that happen.
You're welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
I will acknowledge you for that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:39):
Acknowledge your tribal chief. All right, guys, think very will
say next time, Yeah, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
The force be with you always steps
