Speaker 1 (00:13):
Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
howtrel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
a new mindset, and another day for you to become
the howkerel energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
Happy Wednesday, Welcome back to another episode. I cannot believe
we are officially in the last week of September. Next
(00:35):
week we start October, which, in my eyes, this is
when the weather actually starts to change, the leaves start
to change color, it really starts to feel like fall.
And yeah, I just couldnot believe how time is flying by.
I don't really have too many weekly updates for you guys.
I really just want to jump into this episode. I
(00:56):
did just get back from Toronto recently. If you guys
follow me social media, you guys know that I was
in Toronto for the Alo Yoga event, which was super fun.
Met a lot of Toronto influencers that I've been following
for so long, who honestly just felt like we were
just like not even catching up. I don't even know,
just like a long distance friend that I felt like
(01:17):
I've known for so long, but like just kind of
like seeing them in person and getting you know, a
bit more of their life, I guess, in person versus
just seeing what they share on social media. And oh
my goodness, just so many amazing girls there. I felt
like I connected with so many of them, and yeah,
it was just like so fun to finally meet some
of the girls in person. And they're like, you need
(01:38):
to come to more Toronto events, and honestly I do.
It's not a far commute. I get invited to a
lot of Toronto events that I do say no to
just because usually it doesn't really work with my schedule
or whatever the case may be. But it made me
realize that I should say yes more to these events
because it is really good just to socialize and meet
people in the same industry and just obviously getting to
(02:00):
know some influencers who are also in the space and
all that, and also just like meeting you guys, like
I met so many of you this weekend. I think
I met like, I want to say, like eight to
ten followers this weekend, which is crazy to me. And
I had such a fun time meeting you guys. So
if I met you, thank you so much for coming
up to me or even dming me saying that you
(02:21):
saw me but you were too nervous to say something
or whatever. Yeah, it was so nice and so refreshing
to meet some of you guys in person. And I
really do need to do meetups when I do travel.
This weekend it was really short and quick, so I
didn't really have the time to do you know, a
little event. But even if it's just like a coffee
and walk kind of situation of just like chatting with
(02:42):
you guys, getting to know you, just kind of like
bringing a community of women together all with similar interests
and just connecting, I think is the best thing. So
definitely want to do something like that in the future.
So yeah, it made me realize that I need to
get out more and say yes to a few more things,
at least yes to the things that I want to
(03:02):
say yes too, which we're actually going to be talking
about in this episode this week, just about habits I'm
sticking to this fall or rituals that I'm sticking to
along with things that no longer serve me. So things
that I'm trying to you know, you know, make adjustments
into my lifestyle or just things that I feel like
don't serve me currently in my life. So yeah, all
(03:23):
the weekend was great. Being in Toronto was great. It
was Freddy's fourth birthday, which was super great. He's officially four,
which I cannot believe. My baby boy, who I got
when I first started content creation is now for so
wild to me. And then yeah, just kind of have
a fun weekend ahead with my sister and Zach, going
to have a fun little fall weekend. I feel like
I have a lot of things that I want to
(03:45):
hit on my fall bucket list, and finally things are
starting to open up, like pumpkin patches and apple picking,
you know, farmers market states, going for a walk in
the trails with coffee like all that. Like, you know me,
I just love doing that type of stuff on the weekends.
And I am traveling again next week, which is wild.
I cannot believe I'm leaving again and getting on another flight.
(04:07):
I think this is officially the most I've ever traveled
in a year. I thought last year was a lot,
but this year was definitely a lot. I'm actually going
for Zach's work, not even for me, so I really
want to be there to support Zach. So I don't
know if there'll be a new episode next week, I'm
going to try my best to get one up. But
if not, you guys know the reason that I'm actually
heading to Dallas. Never been to Dallas before, but Zach's
(04:29):
company is actually a US company. It's a huge construction
company and they're doing a work retreat down there. So
literally just going for Zach essentially and just going to
support him. He always supports me with my travels for work,
and he extended the invite out to me and wifs
were invited. So I'm going to go meet some of
(04:50):
his colleagues, get to know the team, and yeah, fully
just be there to support him. So it's a very
quick trip again Wednesday to Friday, and I'm crossing my
fingers that that's the final trip that I go on. Again.
Very grateful for all the trips that you go on,
and I do love it. I just think I'm getting
to the point where I'm very much wanting to stay home,
(05:10):
and I think, honestly, for me, between like September to December,
these are the months where I want to be home.
Like I love being in Ottawa around this time of
the year, I do think it's the time where we thrive.
Like fall is amazing here, there's so much to do,
there's so much to see, and then also just obviously Christmas,
I'd love to decorate the house, get into cozy season. Yeah,
(05:32):
I just don't really love to travel usually during these months,
so feel like it's been busy, but again, very grateful.
I'm not obviously upset about it. I just feel like
I'm ready to enjoy my cozy era of being home
and just really enjoying the fall season. So that's a
quick little update of what's going on, and with the
(05:52):
episode either being up or not next week due to travels,
but let's get into today's episode about rich RULs and habits.
I'm sticking to this fall along with things that are
no longer serving me. I was actually recently inspired to
do this episode because I feel like there's things that
I'm always trying to kind of adapt into my lifestyle
(06:16):
when entering a new season, but also things that I
want to get rid of that I feel like I
could work on because obviously no one's perfect. We're all
trying to improve and become our better selves. So I
kind of wanted to share like the pros of things
that I'm you know, doing that make me feel good
that I think, you know, would be a really good
add on to your current lifestyle, but also things that
(06:38):
I'm trying to work on or you know, no longer
do in my life because it's something that might be
a really bad habit that I'm just trying to break.
So that's kind of how I wanted to like position
this episode on. So the first thing is talking about
rituals and habits. So firstly, one thing that I've been
wanting to do this season is setting one to three
(06:58):
non negotiable tasks each day. So kind of writing out
maybe on your journal or your phone, and talk about
three things that are your biggest priority throughout the day.
Is it getting a workout in, is it going on
a daily walk, is it journaling? Is it, you know,
taking an hour to yourself of no phone, you want
an hour of productivity of just getting shit done around
(07:18):
the house. This is actually a new thing that I've
recently added into my routine. I think I always kind
of put like house chores or you know, just like
things that could be done around the house on the side,
especially when it comes to like my work time. You know,
I work from home, So sometimes I feel like, Okay,
I don't have time to do house stuff, like I
just got to lock in from like nine am to
(07:40):
five pm or whatever the case may be. But I
do think it's okay obviously to take breaks and to
set an hour aside to actually get things done. So
I think it was my girlfriend Sidney Adams that I
saw this on her YouTube video. We're mutual followers and
I really just love her. She's so amazing. But anyways,
she was talking about a one hour productivity hour where
(08:02):
you just like spend an hour of your time just
getting a bunch of stuff done throughout the house, and
then once that hour is done, you get back to work,
you get back on your grind. And I absolutely love
this because I think that's something that I always just
kind of like push to the side. I don't really do.
So I've been kind of taking my lunch break as
that hour of productivity where I'll clean up the kitchen,
you know, break down boxes if I had a bunch
(08:24):
of pr boxes come in, like cleaning up the house,
putting coats back in the coat closet, folding laundry like
whatever the case may be, throwing laundry in the washer,
like things that I just kind of ignore that I
typically would do, you know, at the end of the day,
and then the end of the day comes up and
I'm too tired to do it, and then nothing's actually done.
I'm now trying to make a one hour productivity you
(08:46):
know thing in my current day to day lifestyle of just, yeah,
having a productivity hour of getting shit done around the house.
So it was very inspired by that, and that's something
that I'm kind of making a non negotiable for each day.
But I think everybody's going to have different non negotiables.
It could be also things that might not be personal.
It might be more so, you know, things that you
(09:07):
want to do for work. Maybe there's certain things in
your day to day task with work that you want
to make a non negotiable for each day. Or if
you're in school and you know you want to make
an hour of studying a priority every single day, that's
something that you do that you would make a non negotiable.
So it could be really anything that you're focusing on
or you're locking in for for these next few weeks.
(09:29):
So set one to three non negotiables each day, and
I think this will allow you to really reach your
goals and just also stick to habits that you maybe
have been contemplating on doing. Like if you set a
non negotiable of walking every single day, it's eventually going
to become such a habit and such an easy thing
to do, and you're going to be consistent with it.
And yeah, so I walk forty minutes every single day,
(09:52):
usually go either in the morning or in the afternoon,
or sometimes twice a day. And I make that a
non negotiable in my routine. Get outside, get some share,
get some movement in. There's so many benefits to it,
but you guys, get the gist. But definitely set aside
one to three non negotiables each day. Another thing that
I've wanted to bring into this new season is weekly
self audits, meaning that every Sunday, something that I do
(10:16):
is I kind of create my vision for how this
week is going to look or reevaluate things that didn't
work out last week. So what I mean by that
is maybe you're going through a transition where you're, you know,
creating a new routine for yourself or a new schedule
for yourself going into a new season. Maybe your work
(10:36):
hours have changed, or maybe you know, you just started
back up at school and you know things are completely
different and you're trying to create a routine for yourself.
This is where you're going to kind of re evaluate
yourself every single week. Okay, are things working? Are things not? Like?
What isn't working? So you know, taking it day by
day or week by week kind of seeing. Okay, so
(10:57):
I started this new routine of going back to school,
and I've been working out on my lunch break, you know,
walking after dinner or whatever, and maybe you weren't consistent
with your walks after dinner throughout that week. So okay,
going into this week, I'm going to actually change up
my routine and try something different because I personally felt
like it wasn't working for me. I wasn't staying consistent
with it. I want to make some changes. So reevaluating
(11:18):
your routine going into a new season is so important
because when you reevaluate these things and you realize that
it's not working out, and then when you create a
different type of routine for yourself that you're actually consistent with,
it becomes easier. It doesn't feel like you're forcing yourself
to do it. It just becomes a habit and you
become more consistent with it, so it just becomes easy.
(11:39):
I also think it's important to do these self audits
because it allows you to also figure out what is
your main focus for the week. So is there a
specific task that you wanted to focus on this week,
or you know, maybe something personal, like you want to
go to Pilate's three times a week, or you want
to try a new workout class that you know you've
been contemplating on going for so long. That one is
(12:01):
a huge one for me. So I've been going back
and forth, and to be fully transparent, I've canceled plans
on it. I don't know why I'm getting so on
my head about it, but I have not done weightlifting
in like five years, Okay, it's been a long time.
I've been trying to get back into it here at
the house because we have a gym in the basement,
so I've been using that to kind of like prepare
myself to get to a class, because let's be honest,
(12:23):
like going to a gym can sometimes feel intimidating, and like,
I don't know, I prefer being in like an all
female gym. I don't really like being with the male.
I don't know. This is something that I feel, I
guess when I'm in a workout class. But I'm trying
to like build up the courage to go to this
weightlifting class and I think I'm finally going to go
this Friday. I have plans booked, and I'm just like,
(12:45):
you know what, you just got to do it. You
just got to break this you know, pattern of like
feeling like you don't want to do it. And we're
going to talk about something that I'm trying to let go,
which is about comfort zones. But you know, that's a
big focus for me this week is to make a
priority by focusing on going to this weightlifting class and
changing up my workout routine by going, because it allows
(13:07):
me to realize if I like it or not, and
if I did like it, okay, it opens the door
to creating a new thing into my workout routine. And again,
it's about just kind of like putting your focus towards
things that are a priority, or what do I want
to focus my content on this week? Is there big
things that are happening this week that I really want
to focus my content creation on, filming on whatever the
(13:28):
case may be do I want to put more focus
on my YouTube channel TikTok whatever. So doing weekly self
audits is so important. It just allows you to really
just make sure that you're focusing on the things that
you want to focus on and allows you to put
all your energy towards those things, and also just yeah,
kind of making sure that you've established a good routine
for yourself. And eventually it's just going to feel so
(13:50):
good going into each week knowing that you did these
self audits and yeah, you feel good about your routine,
You feel good about your work. Another thing that I'm
sticking to this ball is decluttering my space so kind
of like a fall reset in a way. I always
feel so much better when I organize my space going
into a new season. I feel like, you know, I
(14:10):
always want to just like go through my wardrobe see
what I'm not wearing. There's definitely things that I've had
in my wardrobe for probably two to three years, which
I'm like, I don't wear this anymore. There's some things
that I've had for two to three years that I
still love to this day. But there's definitely some things
that I have maybe purchased that honestly no longer serve me.
I don't wear it's not you know, my style anymore
(14:30):
or whatever. So that's another thing. As you age, I
think your style kind of evolves as well. So definitely
wanting to do a huge closet reset. My goal is
to do it this week, but we shall see if
we have the time. If not, it will definitely be
a priority for October. But I think it's so important
to just find areas in your home to declutter your space.
It just makes you feel like, you know, you're going
(14:51):
into a new season with a fresh mindset. You kind
of got rid of the old bringing in the new.
Next one is dedicating thirty minutes of re relaxation. This
is something that I'm currently working on, but knowing how
important it is to do this into my current routine.
You know, maybe it's thirty minutes in the morning where
you want to read and just kind of a slow
(15:13):
morning with the fireplace on. Or maybe it's a nighttime
routine where you want to have a tee, take thirty
minutes of no phone time and just you know, maybe
getting out your red light therapy mask and just kind
of you know, journaling or whatever the case may be.
Like you want to take thirty minutes to yourself of
just complete relaxation, no stress, nothing to think about for work,
(15:34):
anything like that. I think it's important to force ourselves
to relax each day because I've realized that if I
overdo it, and I overwork and I don't give myself
that thirty minutes to an hour of a break and
just relax time, I'm going to feel so burnt out,
and then for the rest of the week, I am
not going to feel productive throughout the day. I'm gonna
(15:55):
feel tired, I'm going to feel overworked. So I think
it's really really key to at least dedicate thirty minutes
into your morning, into your lunch break, into your evening,
to just take thirty minutes to yourself truly just enjoy
some downtime. Figure out something that makes you relax. Maybe
it's meditation, maybe it's taking a nap, I don't know,
like figuring out ways to just like really disconnect yourself
(16:18):
from your job or from school and just really focus
on unwinding and relaxing. Because I think you guys are
going to realize how important it is to take that
thirty minutes to yourself and how productive you'll actually feel
throughout the rest of the week by kind of like
forcing yourself to unwind and know that you'll have a
productive week ahead. Another thing I'm doing for my rituals
(16:40):
this fall is I've been reevaluating my eating habits. If
you follow me on TikTok, you may have seen this
video already, but I've been talking about doing a food reset. Essentially.
What that means is I'm basically changing everything that I'm eating.
I feel like this summer was very busy, very busy
with work. I was traveling a lot, and I just
feel like I've been very inconsistent with my eating habits.
(17:02):
I think I get a little lazy sometimes. You know,
I've never really been good at making good lunches. I
think I just open my fridge take whatever is really
easy to do, usually like eggs or sour dough bread.
Just again not really paying attention to the nutrients of
what's in my foods, how high the protein is all that.
And I'm not that type of diet person at all. Okay,
(17:24):
I do not follow any strict diets or anything. I
strive to eat high protein and I try and eat
as clean as possible, just because That's what I love,
you know, trying to avoid any added sugars, try and
eat natural sugars all that. But I am not on
any specific diet, and if I'm going out with my
friends on a Friday night, I'm going to enjoy a
pizza or a glass of wine or margarita. Like very
(17:44):
much all about balance, but I do want to prioritize
my eating habits and my meals and all that. So
I decided to challenge myself and try different meals that
I've seen on TikTok of other creators who were sharing
healthy recipes for what they were eating for lunch, dinner,
and breakfast. I'm changing out my breakfast, I'm changing out
(18:05):
my lunches, my dinners, you know, doing a bit of
meal prepping that way. I have lunches throughout the week.
So I'm just completely doing a little bit of a
food reset. And it was so refreshing to do that.
I'm already day three into it, and I love everything
about it. I'm feeling so good, I'm feeling so energized.
I feel like I've definitely just you know, avoided buying
certain things that I would typically buy. Like there's some
(18:27):
desserts that I would typically buy that I'm like, I'm
not buying that this week. Like, it's actually really hard
to realize like these habits that you were so obsessed
with for so long. So it's been hard, but I
know it's going to be so worth it after doing
it for a period of time. Again, all about consistency,
all about breaking the bad habits. So yeah, just trying
to eat more nutritious meals. And I've also been trying
(18:51):
to find like really good fall recipes that I'm gonna
do a little Fall series that I'll share with you
guys that are all high protein, So things like white
chicken chili, maybe some chicken noodle soup, different types of soups.
You know. We had a sweet potato broccoli chicken kind
of like harvest one sheet pan dinner, and we topped
(19:11):
it off with hot honey, and then we also added
balsamic glaze on top, and it very much tasted like fall.
To make it more Fall inspired, I could add butternut
squash or maybe even do some Brussels sprouts. But anyways,
the point is is that I'm trying to make these
fall recipes in a healthy and high protein way. For
myself that makes it feel exciting, trying something new, trying
(19:32):
new recipes. I'm all about that, as you guys know.
So just been reevaluating my eating habits, and I think
this is something that I wanted to talk about because
if anyone's out there that's kind of going through the
same thing where you feel like you've been in a
rut with your meals, or you feel like you've just
been kind of eating unhealthy and haven't really been on track,
this is your sign to get back on track and
lock in for the new season, because eating clean truly
(19:55):
does make you feel your best self, and I think
it's just something that we all consider doing if we're
wanting to get back into a healthy routine. Another ritual
or habit that I'm trying to do this fall is
making my weekends a priority to spend time with friends, family,
my husband, doing fun fall activities that are on my
(20:16):
fall bucket list. So I'm really trying to obviously hit
as much as i can off that list, So going
to pumpkin patches, getting coffee with a friend, maybe catching up,
going on a nature walk in the trails, even if
it's just having a cozy fall night at home with
a girlfriend, with maybe baking in a movie, Just trying
to really prioritize things to do for this season. Because
(20:36):
fall is short, it does go by quick. I feel
like as soon as November hits, everyone's talking about Christmas,
everyone's prepping for the holidays. Works very chaotic for me.
So I'm like, I need to just lock in for
these next three to four weeks of just really enjoying
all the fall activities, everything that makes me happy going
into the fall season. And yeah, just planning a bunch
(20:58):
of fall dates with friends and family. And then lastly,
when it comes to ritual in habits that I think
is important to take into fall is doing a vision
board reflection. When was the last time that you looked
at your vision board? Okay, let's be honest. We have
it on our laptops as our screen saver, or we
have it on our phone, but when was the last
time you actually took a deep dive and looked at
(21:19):
every aspect. Or maybe you have a physical vision board
in your bedroom and it's just been there, sitting there.
And of course we constantly see it when we're on
our phones or laptops or in our room, but when
was the last time you actually took a deep dive
and examined the goals that you've been wanting to achieve
for yourself. We are officially what three to four months
out till the end of this year. This is your
(21:40):
time to really lock in and make sure that you're
actually on track for reaching those goals that you wanted
to achieve for yourself. Maybe there's a big goal or
big project that was on your vision board that you
haven't even started yet. This is the time to kind
of re evaluate, Okay, what am I going to do
to maybe get this project started or get this you know,
big goal completed. So kind of reevaluating it I think
(22:03):
is important, kind of like reevaluating each week of what
your focus is for each week. I think it's important
to also do your vision board check in just making
sure that the goals you've been wanting to achieve are
you achieving goals. It also makes you realize how good
it feels to know how many goals you've achieved this
year so far. But then it also allows you to
kind of focus on the ones that you want to
(22:23):
achieve before the end of the year, and how are
you going to get there? How are you going to
get to that completed goal in that big project that
you wanted to get done before the end of the year.
So reevaluate it. It's going to make you feel so
good ending off the year with something that you really
wanted to complete for yourself. Okay, So now let's talk
about releasing what no longer serves you. So here are
(22:44):
some things that I'm personally trying to get out of
my life in terms of just like, you know, things
that I kind of, I don't know, have a bad
habit of doing, and I just want to break it.
I want to get past it. I want to move
on from it. It's just it's no longer something that
I want to mentally think about. So first one being
perfectionism that keeps you from taking action. This one is
(23:08):
something I'm very much working on. I think being in
the social media space and you know, having to put
myself on camera all the time, literally all the time,
there is days where I'm like, I do not want
to be on the camera. I just like want to
be to myself. I don't want to do my makeup,
I don't want to get ready all that. But I
think it's important that people see that side of me
(23:28):
because I don't need to do my makeup every single day.
I don't need to put on the cutest outfit every
single day. Like it's important to show both sides to
yourself because I am a normal human being, Like I
am not that kind of person that wants to do
my makeup every single day or work out every single day,
Like I strive to do those things, but I think
it's important to kind of just allow myself to show
(23:49):
the bad sides too, where you know, I don't want
to do a house reset or the house is a
mess or whatever. Right, So I'm trying to not think that,
you know, I need to show every aspect of my
life being perfect because it's not. And I try to
make sure that I don't portray that I have this
perfect life because, let's be honest, social media is strictly
(24:11):
a highlight reel. It is truly just things that you
want to share that make you feel good. Of course,
nobody always wants to share things that they might be
going through personally, Like I've talked about here on the
podcast many times, but like I have really bad anxiety,
you know, sometimes I think I have a bit of
social anxiety where I don't want to leave the house
too much and I like to stay in the house
and whatever, always working on things. But again, I'm not perfect,
(24:33):
and I know I'm not perfect, and I think I
just need to realize that it's okay to not always
feel perfect. And I want to make you guys realize
that you don't always have to feel perfect as well.
Another thing is comparing myself to others on social media.
I always used to do this, always, always, always. I
think it's something that is the reality. I think a
(24:53):
lot of people compare themselves to other people, but everyone
has their own struggles. Again, social media is a highlight reel.
It just shows the good moments. It's important to know
that everybody's in the same boat. Everyone's going through struggles.
There's no one that's going through a life right now
where they think everything is picture perfect and you know,
everything just feels, you know, I don't know, just like perfect.
(25:16):
But everyone is going through some positive moments and some
negative moments in our life. And I think that's the
most important thing to realize, is that everyone has bad
days and good days. And also, like comparing ourselves physically,
like I think you need to just focus on your
own beauty and not focus on someone else's and figure
out things that define you. And I don't know, just
(25:37):
always dress for yourself, feel good for yourself, don't ever
compare yourself to someone else. So that is something that
I feel like I used to do so bad. I
definitely move past this a lot within the past few
years of doing social media, but I just kind of
like a little gentle reminder of like, do not compare
yourself to someone else, because you are so unique and
so beautiful in your own way that you do not
(25:58):
need to compare yourself to someone else. Another thing that
no longer serves me is guilt for saying no to plans.
This completely changed my life. I want to say last
year was probably the first year where I really tried
to focus on saying no to things, because I have
regretted it so many times where I've said yes to
plans because I thought, oh, I'm gonna have fomo if
(26:20):
I don't go, like I gotta go, like all my
friends are going whatever. I show up to this event
or night out whatever, and I'm like, why am I here?
Like I don't want to be here, you know, None
of this just fills my cup like I'm not enjoying
my time here, Like why am I forcing myself to
do something that I don't even want to do. So
saying no to certain plans that I personally don't want
(26:40):
to do has completely changed my life. I don't feel fomo.
I actually don't want to go out to a bar
and get drunk till three o'clock in the morning. I
would rather sleep in my bed by you know, eleven PM,
watch Netflix with my husband, wake up Sunday morning feeling energized,
feeling productive, wanting to you know, go get a cop
with my husband, clean up the house, get some stuff
(27:02):
done around the house, like I would rather that, then
go on a Saturday night, go out with friends that
maybe I didn't want to do, wake up the next
morning feeling hungover, not feeling productive whatsoever, not doing anything
around the house, and then oh, going into my Monday
with again not feeling prepared at all. So it is
so life changing to say no to things that you
(27:24):
actually don't want to do. If you want to go
to that bar, go to the bar. If that's what
you want to do, do it. If you don't, it's
okay to say no. So just remember that, say yes
to things that you think are worth it, say no
to things that you feel like you're going to regret,
because we don't want to force anything. Nobody needs to
feel the fomo no. Just get that out of your head.
(27:44):
Fomo does not exist. I feel like once you start
saying no to things and start saying yes to things
that you actually want to do and not to things
that you don't want to do, you'll just realize how
worth that it is. And I don't know, just like
realizing things that you want to say yes to and
things that you want to say no to is just
the best feeling. The next one is old versions of
yourself you feel pressured to live up to. I wouldn't
(28:04):
say that like I miss the person that I was
back in college, where I was drinking a lot, I
was partying a lot, like just living a completely different
lifestyle than what I live now. But you know, sometimes
I feel like, oh, like do my friends they give
me differently now because I'm not that same person, right Like,
obviously you know I have a job now where I
feel like I've definitely prioritized that more than you know.
(28:27):
Back in the day in college, my priority was not
that it was basically just partying and having fun with friends.
So sometimes I'm like, oh, like, do they think that
you know, I'm not fun anymore because I rarely go out?
Or you know, sometimes I think, you know, should I
be a combination of both, like living this healthy lifestyle
(28:47):
but also being like the party girl that I used
to be. But I think it's important to not feel
guilty or feel like you're being less fun because you're
not into those old habits anymore. I think, obviously, like
your priorities and your life's circumstances change as you get older,
and it's important to surround yourself with people who either
(29:08):
are going to accept that, or people who have similar
interests like that where they love working out and they
love having chill girl nights, birds going to the bar
every single night and drinking. Like at the end of
the day, we all grow up, we all change, and
I feel like I've changed for the better for sure.
I think, you know, I used to drink, not work out,
not eat healthy, like I did not care about any
(29:28):
of that, whereas now I solely focus on my health.
I solely focus on just like doing things that I
love doing. If I want to go out, great, if
I don't want to go out. I'm a stay home
and I'm a chill night with my husband. Like I like,
don't miss that version of myself at all, But there
is this sense of pressure where I feel like sometimes
I'm like, do people think I'm less fun because I
(29:49):
don't really like to go out anymore? Or I don't
really drink that much anymore. But again, I think as
long as you're with people who accept that and they
are okay with you doing that and that they I
think it's good that you're able to realize that that's
not something that serves you and that's not something you
want in your life. As long as they can support
you through that, I think that's good people to surround
(30:11):
yourself with. But I also think it's important to surround
yourself with people who also are like that, where they
want to do workouts, they want to live a healthy lifestyle,
they want to go on walks with you. Like one
of my girlfriends who I've gotten super super close with,
to be honest, like we've known each other for years.
Looking back, maybe five or six years ago, we were
not that close, Like, you know, we would go to
parties together, you know, catch up always have a good time,
(30:34):
but it was always at parties, like things that were
kind of pointless, like nothing really that mattered. But now
we go on weekly walks together. We walk every single
Friday for an hour, get our steps in, just catch
up about work, life, whatever, and we've become so close
and it's just something that we both love doing and
it's something that we make a priority within our week
(30:54):
to catch up. And yeah, just kind of goes to
show that, like it's nice that like a friend is
also within the same type of lifestyle as me, where
like she wants to get her steps and she wants
to get a daily walk in, she wants to catch
up in that sense instead of going out to the
bar and getting drinks in order to catch up. It's
nice how you still have friends that also feel like
(31:15):
it's important to like make changes in a better way
and that as we age, things change and that you
don't have to do the old things that you used
to that you could do new things together and still
enjoy the company of those people. The last one that
I kind of mentioned in the beginning when it comes
to things that no longer serve me, is staying in
your comfort zone because it's in quotations safe. This is
(31:38):
something that I've been currently struggling with. And you know,
I talk about the workout like I'm uncomfortable of trying
a new workout class. I'm in a comfort zone where
I love pilates, I love going to a hot mat class,
and for some reason, you know, getting out of that
comfort zone of going to a workout class makes me
feel uncomfortable. So I'm trying to break that comfort zone
(31:58):
of just like trying something new, because what if I
try it and I love it and then it's like, Wow,
why didn't I try this sooner? Like you kind of
got to make some changes in order to grow and
in order to see you know, the potential of loving
something else. And it also kind of goes with the
point of changing your life when it comes to thinking
about having kids, Like this is obviously something that Zach
(32:20):
and I are in this phase in our life where
we got married, and obviously we talk about having kids
all the time. But you know, there is this fear
where I don't want to get out of this life
that I have now where I'm very comfortable right now
with my life. You know, I love being able to
just take care of Freddy. I love just like having
my date nights with Zach and making our relationship a
(32:41):
priority and going with friends and all that. But eventually,
like even now, I'm starting to realize that like I
want more, Like we've been together for so long that
it's like I do want to have a family with
my husband, and I do want to have kids, and
I do want to make that change of knowing that
I'm not going to be the only person that I'm
taking care of. I'm not just taking care of myself anymore.
I'm taking care of a freakin' human, a baby. I'm
(33:04):
taking care of a baby. And yeah, sure that scares
the shit out of me, and yeah that's something that's
very much out of my comfort zone because I know
nothing when it comes to being a mom. But I
keep just trying to tell myself that that's going to
be a really good challenge for myself, because eventually I'm
going to realize that this is a spot that I've
wanted to be in for so long, Like I've always
wanted to be a mom, I've always wanted to, you know,
(33:26):
raise my own child and all that. So eventually that's
going to become a comfort spot in a safe spot
for me, and I think it's just the change that
sounds scary, right. It's always things that people change in
their life that make them feel a little scared. So
I just need to get out of my comfort zone
and try new things and know that change is a
good thing and that good things are coming. And I'm
(33:48):
sure some of you guys might be able to relate
to that if you were like me. Maybe you just
got married and you're in that position where you're very
comfortable but you're scared to make that change of having kids.
Or maybe it's you know, you're very stuck in the
position where you love doing certain workouts and you want
to change your workouts, but you're scared to go to
a different studio. Or maybe it's a job. You're very
comfortable in your job, but you know you want to
(34:11):
make more progress by doing something completely different and changing
it up. So it could be anything. It could be
job related, it could be personal related, it could be
so many things. But it's important to take the risk
and make those changes because sometimes it's worth the leap
and it's worth the change. Well that is today's episode
