Speaker 1 (00:13):
Hello you guys, Welcome back to another episode of the
Hawkerel Energy Podcast. I'm your host, Kayleie, and this is
your weekly reminder that it's a new day, a new week,
a new mindset, and another day for you to become
the hot girl energy you want to attract. Hello you guys,
Happy Wednesday. This episode is definitely going to be up
later than I wanted, but that's okay. Things have kind

(00:35):
of been kind of chaotic this week, just because it
was Thanksgiving this past weekend and work has just kind
of been a lot just kind of catching up within
these next four days. I took the Monday off to
spend time with family and do some obviously family dinners
and all that, But I have not talked on the
MIC in two weeks. It's been a bit since i've

(00:56):
chatted on here last If you guys follow me on
social me or if you listened to the last episode,
then you guys know that I was actually in Dallas
last week for Zach's work, a very quick work trip.
I'm talking like from Wednesday to Friday. I was back
late Friday night so I could be home for Thanksgiving
with my family, and to be honest, it kind of

(01:18):
worked out that we didn't have an episode last week
because on top of being in Dallas last week, we
did unfortunately lose a family member on Zach's side of
the family. So it was a pretty interesting week last week.
It was very very tough, especially to be able to

(01:38):
like travel when you're in this really low place with
losing someone in your family. It was very difficult for Zach,
honestly specifically to go to Dallas and be present for
his job. So if you saw my story, that's kind
of what happened. Zach's grandmother unfortunately passed away very unexpected lee,

(02:00):
which was even harder. And I've known Zach for thirteen
years now, so I've known his grandma for thirteen years.
We would do, you know, monthly dinners with her, go
out to her home and cook dinner with her, and
it was always just something that we both really enjoyed
and Freddie loved her so much, and you know, whenever

(02:23):
I would travel, she actually would watch Freddy most of
the time. So yeah, we kind of just had a
special bond and it kind of hit me hard as well.
And again because it was very unexpected, we did have
to go to the hospital and say our goodbyes, and
what made it tougher was that she was awake and
she was aware of the situation that she was, you know,

(02:45):
slowly passing or I guess passed very fast in a sense,
so you know, she was able to say, like, you know,
she was able to hear what we had to say
for our final words, and you know, we were both
a wreck, obviously, Like losing someone is not easy, and
I have lost three other grandparents, so I have one
grandparent left, my Nona, And Zach has never lost to grandparents,

(03:10):
so this was his very first loss in his immediate family.
So he has been taking it pretty hard. So I'm
really just trying to be there for him and you know,
tell him that there's gonna be days that are good
and there's gonna be days that are not so great,
and it's okay to feel sad because you know that
you miss them. And I think the only thing that
you could really do is just think about the good

(03:31):
times that you did have and that she did live,
you know, up to eighty five, so she had amazing
eighty five years of great memories with you know, her life,
and then also just the past twenty nine years with Zach,
so Zach was very close with her, And yeah, it
was just kind of a really difficult week last week,
so I was really just trying to prioritize being with

(03:52):
his family, helping out where I can for the celebration
of life and all that. So yeah, it's been kind of, yeah,
a sad week last week, and then going into this week,
you know, we had Thanksgiving this past weekend, which was
hard losing a family member and not it feeling the
same obviously, and yeah, just I don't know, it's just

(04:13):
been kind of a weird few weeks, and I think
the time off from the podcast was probably needed in
that sense, but also like going into this week, it
just kind of feels like, obviously there wasn't much work
happening last week because I was traveling and because the
loss of a family member. So now I have so
much work that I'm trying to catch up on this week,

(04:33):
and I don't know, I'm just kind of feeling like
I've been in a funk. And I wanted to kind
of chat about that in today's episode of How I
Find Ways to get myself back in the productive mindset
kind of just get myself out of a rut, and
obviously with the seasons changing, I think a lot of
people can relate that, you know, it is getting darker

(04:54):
in the mornings, it is getting darker at night faster,
which makes it difficult to wake up, It makes it difficult,
you know, to drive home in the dark, maybe from work.
And then obviously the weather has been getting colder. So
I feel like it's just been, all in all, a
time of year that people typically feel this way where
they might feel a little unmotivated or just low, or

(05:18):
you know, just kind of feel lazy and don't know
how to get themselves back on their feet or just
back in the productive mindset that they want to be
in or the motivational person that they want to be.
So I figured this would be a really good time
to kind of just chat about things that I do
when I feel this way, And these are things that
I'm currently doing to kind of get myself out of

(05:38):
this funk or rut that I'm currently feeling and just
trying to find ways to, yeah, get myself back to
my motivational and productive self. Also another thing that I
feel like has kind of made an impact for my
routine and just my mental state as well, is that
I feel like I've just been like, so go go
in the sense where you know, I went to Italy,

(06:01):
I came home for two weeks, and then I was
gone to Toronto for a weekend, and then I came
home for a week, and then oh, I was off
to Dallas and then I'm home now. So I just
feel like, you know what, as much as I am
grateful for travel, I don't really love to travel back
to back. I'm more of a you know, every few
months kind of travel girl. Like I really like to
structure my routine, get back into it. I hate getting

(06:21):
back into the swing of things and then two weeks
later I'm off again. And that's just a preference. I
am a homebody. I am a routine person. I just
personally am structured that way, and that's just what makes
me feel my best self is when I'm in a
productive routine and when I have things all figured out.
I just I don't know, maybe it's a mental thing,
but I'm just a homebody and I'm a routine person

(06:43):
and that's just what works for me. So that could
be also why I feel like things have just been
so off is just kind of like the on and
off of feeling productive and then not and then you know, unpacking,
trying to reset, get the house in shape, all that.
There's just like so many things that you don't think
about that you need to just kind of like get
yourself back into it, if that makes sense. So, yeah,

(07:04):
so it's kind of multiple things. So we're going to
talk about some things that I personally do that I
feel like really helps, and it's actually been helping out
a lot these past few days. I have actually taken
a lot of these things into factor and wanted to
share with you guys if you're currently feeling this way
and also need to kind of get out of a
rut or a funk that you might be feeling. The
first thing that I always recommend when it comes to

(07:25):
feeling low or you know, just kind of like reasons
that you think might be causing this unproductive time that
you're having or just feeling super unmotivational is I personally
find journaling about how you're feeling in that moment is
really important to do, along with writing out things that
bring you joy. So this could be things that you

(07:46):
do day to day that kind of fills your cup.
We've talked about it in previous episodes that you know,
things that kind of make you feel good going into
your day. So three to five things that bring me
joy or some comfort in my day to day routine
are things like, you know, booking a workout class, you know,

(08:06):
going on a walk, making my favorite coffee, watching a
YouTube video, lighting a candle, maybe even turning on my fireplace.
Like those things to me brings so much joy in
my day. When I do those things, I feel very
happy and I find it just like I don't know,
makes me feel good starting off my day this way
because I feel like it puts me in that mindset

(08:27):
that I want to be in, which is obviously being
productive and getting shit done. And I find doing the
things that bring you comfort allows you to feel good
about yourself and you know, kind of makes you want
to get into that productive mindset, especially when it comes
to movement, which is kind of the next point, which
is finding ways to move your body, because I think
it plays such a huge role in your mental state.

(08:50):
I am an overthinker, Okay, I overthink about literally everything,
which I hate. I freaking hate it. I also am
a very stressful human being. I feel like I get
stressed all the time, and so I feel like whenever
I book a workout class and I actually go to it,
I feel like it literally clears my headspace so much
like I don't overthink, I don't think about anything. I

(09:12):
just think about that exact moment of getting my workout done.
I don't have those negative thoughts, it's all put aside.
I'm truly just focusing on moving my body. And it's
honestly the best way to kind of go into the
day as well, because I feel like it sets my
mindset and a better headspace throughout the day. And I
don't know, I just feel like it's the best way

(09:32):
to start the day off, is getting some movement in
and allow yourself to just kind of focus on that
one thing versus focusing on all the other things that
you might be focusing on when it comes to work,
personal life, whatever the case may be. I think just
getting that workout class in is so beneficial. And I
was actually talking to my neighbor about this. We went

(09:52):
on a walk together and she was talking about how,
you know, she's been postpartum now for I want to say,
like eighteen months. She's had two boys back to back
that are in close age and she has not gone
to a workout class for the past eighteen months, and
she's finally started to push herself to get into a routine.
You know, she's been going spinning like three to four

(10:13):
times a week. And she was telling me how she
feels so much better going to a workout class versus
going to the gym by herself and trying to get
a workout in herself. And this is something I totally
agreed with because I felt like during COVID, when I
was at home doing gym workouts and working out myself,
you know, just following people that I saw on you know,

(10:34):
Instagram or YouTube, I felt like my workouts were never
fully like productive or fully in it, if that makes sense.
I wasn't locked in because I felt like I would,
you know, do the twelve reps of a workout and
then I would either go on my phone or I
would just kind of like think about something that I
wouldn't want to think about, and then oh, I would
force myself out of that negative headspace and then keep
doing my reps all that so, I feel like booking

(10:57):
the workout class is what's changed my life, because I
feel like, you can't go on your phone for obvious reasons.
You are locked in for that forty five minutes and
truly have to focus on each movement. You know, you're
breathing everything. And that's why I feel like it helps
so much because you get to take away that distraction,
which could be your phone or whatever it is, and

(11:18):
it really just allows you to lock in and focus
on what is happening in that current moment. So she
was saying how beneficial the workout classes have been and
how enjoyable it's been because it allows her to kind of,
you know, really focus in those forty five minutes of
getting a good sweat in, and it allows her to
like go into her day feeling so much better knowing
that she'd like really focus on herself for those forty

(11:39):
five minutes. So I do find booking a workout class
does make a big difference comparing like just working at
yourself or doing a work at yourself. And again that
could just be us we feel the same way in
that sense. You may feel differently than that, But in
my opinion, I do find booking a worko class a
game changer and truly just like makes me so happy

(12:00):
be when I do a workout class before I start
my day. Another thing I love to do is I
love to create to do list or write out tasks
that I want to complete with the day, because I
think setting realistic goals for yourself for the day kind
of makes you feel like you've completed little wins. So
you know, it could be as simple as you know,

(12:22):
I want to make my bed, I want to clean
my kitchen, I want to organize my living room like
it could be the smallest things like that, and you
getting those little things done in a day and checking
it off kind of makes you feel like, Okay, I'm
getting back to where I want to be. Those little
things make me feel better. The fact I did it
today is a huge win. I'm proud of myself. You

(12:42):
feel accomplished. You go on to the next day, you
do the next task, you complete it again. You start
to feel that motivation and that boost of your mood
by completing these little things. So I feel like creating
to do list is a huge game changer, especially when
it comes to work. If you're feeling really overwhelmed with
work or really overwhelmed with school, and then that's kind
of what's putting you in a funk and you just

(13:03):
trying to like figure out ways to manage it again,
doing it to do list, writing everything out, figuring out, okay,
what's realistic for my structure for the week. And that's
why I always say to also do like a weekly
planner of how you want to structure your week, so
you know, on Monday, I have to do this, On Tuesday,
I have to do this, and it just kind of
makes things feel really organized, and then you don't feel

(13:24):
like you've bombarded so much in one day, and then
you feel overwhelmed, and then again you get yourself in
this negative headspace where you feel like everything is too much.
So because I have a short week this week, I
didn't do my weekly to do list to be fully transparent,
like I didn't do my task for Tuesday, my task
for Wednesday, my task for Thursday, like I didn't do
that when I typically usually do that every Sunday night.

(13:44):
So maybe that's why this week specifically for me, has
felt a little off, and last week felt a little
off because I was traveling, like so that right now,
just saying it out loud makes me realize that, Okay,
maybe I need to write it to do list out
for Thursday and Friday. That way, I'm going into those
days knowing fully what I have to get done and
achieving those things that I wanted to set my goals

(14:07):
for will make me feel good knowing that I did
those small wins, and it makes me feel like I've
completed things throughout my day that I needed to get done.
I also find setting a timer makes a huge difference
when you want to be more productive. This is something
that I've talked about in a previous episode that I
saw another influencer do, and she sets a timer for
sixty minutes each day to get whatever she needs to

(14:29):
get done around her house. So I've been doing that.
I've been setting usually a thirty minute timer just because
it's a bit easier for me to include it into
my lunch break, and I'll fully just lock in and
get everything that I want to get done, clean up
the kitchen. You know, if I have boxes that I've
unboxed pr from and there's just like boxes all over
my living room, I break them down, I put them
in my garage. Like sometimes you know, we put things

(14:49):
to the side and we don't think about it, and
so having a timer on I feel like motivates me
because I'm like, Okay, I need to finish all this
before the timer goes out. I also find playing music
is a good distraction and putting your phone on do
not disturb. Again, if you're very distracted, like myself who
is distracted by their phone, put your phone on do
not disturb and set a thirty minute timer and you

(15:10):
will be amazed at how much shit you can actually
get done in thirty minutes. And again, it just kind
of makes you feel like you've completed a lot of
things throughout your day. It allows you to lock in
and focus on everything that you have to get done
and you don't have any distractions. So those are like
big things for me that I feel like helps me
out when I am in a rut. Is just like
locking in, taking thirty minutes to myself to get shit

(15:32):
done around the house, and then I just feel like
a clean space really just makes me feel ten times better.
And I'm sure a lot of people can relate to
that as well. So doing that writing out tasks, completing
it just kind of checking off the list of you know,
your little to do list of what you want to
get done for the day, will just really motivate yourself
and put yourself in the right head space throughout the
rest of the week. Another thing that I find helps

(15:53):
me kind of get out of a rut or a
funk is resetting myself. And so what I mean by
that is it's almost like a mini checklist of things
that you want to do for yourself. So it could
be are you drinking enough water throughout the day? Are
you getting enough sleep? Think about it. Are you getting
that seven to eight hours of sleep that you want
to get? Are you moving your body? Did you book
any workout classes for this week? Are you eating healthy recipes?

(16:16):
Are you getting takeout every single night? Or are you
actually making home cooked meals? Should you consider going to
the grocery store and maybe picking up food so you
can eat healthy throughout the week. There's so many things
to think about when it comes to those little things,
and it does make a huge difference when you are
actually doing those things. Like if you're actually geting enough sleep,
you are going to have a good week. If you
are actually drinking enough water, you're going to feel good,

(16:39):
You're not going to have a headache, You're not going
to feel like you're overthinking too much. If you're eating
home cooked meals and healthy meals. Again, your body likes that.
Your body feels good, your energy feels good when you're
actually eating healthy and when you're moving your body finding
ways like going to workout classes or walking or whatever
the case may be. When you actually prioritize that, again,
your body is telling you that good job. You're doing

(17:01):
what you're supposed to be doing, and it's going to
make you feel better. So those little things is almost
like a mental checklist of things that make you feel good,
typically that you might not actually be making a priority.
So it's almost like a little reminder of just saying, hey,
if you aren't doing these things, you might want to
give yourself a bit of a reality check and start

(17:21):
doing those things because it's gonna make you feel better.
You're gonna feel good, You're gonna have the energy that
you have been missing. It's truly all about the energy
because sleep, movement, and food play a huge impact of
your energy levels along with how your mood is. So
if you're doing those things, then you know you're gonna
be in a better mindset. If you actually are drinking

(17:42):
enough water, eating enough healthy foods, along with getting enough sleep,
So not only are you going to like reset yourself
by doing those things, but you're also going to book
yourself a feel good appointment. I don't know why this
makes a huge impact, but it does for me personally.
I find when I just like need a boost of
my mood and just like feeling good about myself or

(18:03):
just like a boost of confidence. I feel like when
I book a nail appointment, or when I book a
hair appointment or getting a facial, like it's just something
that makes me feel good and makes me feel better
when I've put the effort in myself, if that makes sense,
and it doesn't have to be, you know, something like that.
It could also just be like doing in everything, shower
at home, doing a face mask, Like just knowing that

(18:24):
you've put an effort in yourself makes you feel good.
Maybe it's literally shaving your legs, like could be the
smallest thing, like just that's obviously something super random, but
like making yourself just feel clean and feel good is
the whole purpose of like a feel good reset, if
that makes sense. So I just got my hair done.

(18:45):
I feel so much better cutting off three inches of
my hair, you know, going darker for the fall season.
I kind of feel like a new me. But again,
it's been a great way to boost my competence and
I've definitely felt I don't know, just like better knowing
that I've gotten that done for myself. I did actually
book a nail appointment this week and I'm going to
be changing up the shape again doing a different color,

(19:06):
so I'm looking forward to that again. It's something I'm
looking forward to. It's something that I know that's going
to make me feel good and make me feel like
I put the energy towards myself by treating myself to
this feel good appointment. So I don't know, I personally
feel like when you put the effort in yourself, it
makes you feel like you actually care and it just

(19:27):
all in all makes you feel a little bit better.
So that's what I do when I'm in a funk,
is booking myself one feel good appointment, and I feel
a lot better going into my week when I treat
myself to a little appointment that's about taking care of yourself.
This next one is something that I never thought would
make a huge impact in my week, but it truly does.

(19:47):
And that is being more social or putting yourself in
a social setting. So if you work from home. Like me,
it could definitely be hard if you know, the back
to back days get really busy, you've ben still in
your office for eight hours getting all this work done.
Or it could be you know, you've been stuck at school,
you know, studying or writing a paper, and it's been

(20:09):
days of just like constant you know, same like, and
it's just been days where it constantly feels the same.
So what's important to do is it's important to kind
of change the environment. So whether it's going in a
social setting like a coffee shop or a library, like
getting out of your typical space might be good for you.
Just having a change of scenery and also just being

(20:30):
in a social environment just kind of makes you feel
a little bit better. But also like trying to make
the effort of making plans with your friends or getting
out of the house with your husband or your boyfriend,
whatever the case may be, like finding ways to putting
yourself in a social environment or just socializing with people
will really just make you feel a lot better. I

(20:51):
booked plans with my girlfriend this week. I'm actually seeing
two of my girlfriends this week, which I haven't seen
in a while, and I feel like that's going to
make me feel really good, just kind of reaching connecting
with them, catching up again, being in a social setting,
not being in the same environment that I'm typically in.
I also find again back to the workout classes, like
being in that social environment. I have a few friends
that I usually book classes with, which is nice. So

(21:13):
we usually talk for like fifteen minutes after the class.
I get my social fix in. It's nice. I get
back home, I lock in for work, and I feel good.
So sometimes just socializing and this is not socializing on
your phone, like I'm talking, socializing and connecting one on
one with a person in real life will make a
huge difference in your mood. And again, just make you

(21:34):
feel good and yeah, just kind of give you the
energy that you need. And then, honestly, the last one
is really just being kind to yourself and not being
so hard on yourself when you're going through this difficult time,
because you have to understand that when you're in a
funk or when you're in a rut, you need to
tell yourself that this is very temporary, like this is
not you're new forever, like it is going to be hard.

(21:58):
But doing these little things, doing these little tasks. It's
going to bring that spark back. It's just to make
ourselves feel better and feel more motivated and feel more productive.
That they're small wins like us doing these little tasks
are little things that we can check off in our
mind that we know is going to make us feel better.
And it's all about just doing the little things, moving

(22:19):
your body, drinking water, getting enough sleep, doing those little tasks.
Writing things down in a journal, Like you can spend
ten minutes in the morning writing on a piece of paper,
doesn't you have to be a journal of things that
you want to get done for the day or how
you're feeling in that current moment. It's so so important
to write things out physically. I think writing things out

(22:39):
makes a huge difference compared to like writing something in
your notes in your phone, and again just telling yourself
that this is temporary and that doing these little things
are going to bring back that motivation that you want
and that spark that you've been looking for. I also
didn't mention this tip as well, but I also feel
like romanticizing your life does also make a huge impact

(23:00):
in your mood. Like I personally love romanticizing my mornings
and nights by doing the extreme and the extra of
you know, putting on face mask, lighting candles, setting up
a fireplace, turning on my favorite TV show. Like, those
little things bring so much joy and comfort into my
life that I don't think people realize how those little

(23:21):
things make things feel so much better. I never bake, Okay,
I decided to bake cookies last week as part of
my night routine, and it was such a healing thing
to do of just like making the cookies, putting them
in the oven, taking them out, how to candle it
ate them, watch my favorite YouTube video like it truly
was such a vibe. Oh and I was scrolling through Pinterest,
like literally the little things that bring you so much joy.

(23:44):
When you actually like put the effort of doing those
things within your night or within your morning, you feel
so good. And again, it just kind of gets you
out of that negative headspace and more into a positive one.
So this week and last week, it's really just been
focusing on doing these little things really to get myself
out of this rut that I'm currently feeling, and how
I can really just boost my mood and get back

(24:06):
into my positive self. And oh, on top of that,
I never actually included this, but I've actually been off
these past two days of working out because I injured
my back, and obviously a back injury is no joke,
like it has really impacted my entire body, along with
really bad headaches. So I've been icing it, I've been

(24:28):
heating it, I've been taking advil. You know, my source
of movement right now has just been walking. So obviously
having an injury definitely makes an impact of not being
able to do workouts, which obviously brings me joy, and
it's been a little difficult. But I did book a
physio appointment, so I am getting that checked out, so
that has been a little hard. But again, I'm not

(24:48):
trying to be hard on myself because I know it's
temporary and I know going to this physio appointment is
going to make me feel better because they're going to
hopefully be able to figure out what's going on, hopefully,
you know, give me some wretches that I can do
to relieve this the just the muscle pain in general.
And I know I'm doing everything I can that I
can control to manage the situation. So that's kind of

(25:12):
been a little difficult having an injury, but hey, that's okay.
We know things are going to get better, and that's
why I'm here. I'm here to give you guys, tips,
tips that I'm taking in for myself, along with tips
for you if you're currently feeling this funk or rut
that you might be in. And again, as I said,
we are in a new season. It's one of those
seasons where it does get colder, it does get darker,

(25:34):
so it does make it hard on ourselves to you know,
have our typical routine, and it's all about adjusting things
and finding ways to make our days a little bit
better by yeah, just making little tweaks and finding ways
to motivate ourselves throughout our day to day life. So
I hope you guys found this episode inspirational and helpful

(25:54):
for anyone that might be going through a similar situation
like me, where we're in a funk and trying to
get out of it. But this episode's kind of short
and sweet. But again, I'm so happy to be back,
and honestly, I should be home for the rest of
the year, which I'm very happy about. So there should
be a lot of episodes coming before the end of
the year. But i'd love you guys. Also much thank

(26:14):
you guys for listening to another episode. If you guys
are new, definitely make sure to follow at the Hawkgirl
Energy Instagram page. You can also follow me Kaylie. I'm
your host. I'm on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. But I
love you guys allso much. Thank you guys for listening
to another episode, and I will see you guys in
next week's episode.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
