end of October, which is so crazy, and all I'm

thinking about is Halloween, spooky season, getting excited just to
kind of do fun activities before we think about Christmas.
I wanted to have an episode here with my sister,
so Madison is back on the podcast. Hello, welcome back.
We're so happy to have you here. I always love
to have her come the odd time because it's nice

to kind of have a bit of a change. And
you guys know, me and my sister are like always together,
so I know you guys like when we're doing episodes
together and nobody come at us in the comments because
we do have a second mic. We just try to
spend twenty minutes trying to hook this podcast mike up
and we have no idea how to hook it up,
so I'm gonna need Zach to help me. So bear

with us, but we are trying to both speak at
the same volume and hope that it all works out.
So for today's episode, we're going to be talking about
a spooky season bucket list. I feel like these next
two weeks, with it being November first, next Saturday, we
want to try and get in as much fall in
like pumpkin theme, kind of just like spooky season activities

(01:41):
to do maybe for like a girls' night, or to
do with your boyfriend or your husband, just kind of
like fun things you can do maybe at home, or
things you could do in your city. And also talk
about some kind of like health and wellness horror stories
that we both kind of experienced in our past life. Yeah,
and almost like trying to educate you guys to not

(02:04):
do this that we did. If you're someone that might
be starting out their health and wellness journey or maybe
you have similar experiences that we've had, it's kind of
nice just to kind of like talk it out and
be able to relate one hundred percent, just kind of
like relate to our health and wellness horror stories. So
we're gonna get into this episode and start talking about
spooky season bucket list.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
So The first thing me and Kayley thought of for
our spooky season bucket lists would be to either paint
or carve pumpkins. I feel like this is just like
a go to when it comes to Halloween, Like you
gotta either paint or carve pumpkins. I feel like carving
pumpkins is like so traditional, but it can also be

really messy and a lot so if you don't like
that whole mess and like, I feel like it's also
a long process just to like get all the seeds
out and all that.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
So do you remember we actually did this like three
years ago in this house and we had garbage bags.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yes, I'm pretty sure it took us like an hour
and a half.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Just to get like all the seas out. Yeah, it's
a bit messy and long. So if that's not for you,
I feel like painting pumpkins is so much easier, and
I feel like you can also do so much more
with it because you know, you can use different colors
and also too, if you're not the best card. I
was just about to say, I feel like any time

I carve a pumpkin, I always mess up, Like I
just like I'll always like trace exactly what I want
to do. I'm like, Okay, this looks perfect, and then
I just somehow mess something up.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
It's almost like looking at the Pinterest image and then
what you created and like it's not the same.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Never aligns.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, it never is.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
And I feel like with painting, like it's just so
much easier to cover up a mistake. Like I've painted
pumpkins in the past. I've done like a Frank and
Steying pumpkin. I've done a zombie pumpkin, a vampire pumpkin,
and they come out like so cute, like just so cute.
I remember one year I had these pumpkins that I

painted and I was so proud of myself because they
looked so good, and like I refuse to throw them
out for months, and my parents were like, Maddie, like
we need to throw these out, like it's been so long,
like you need to throw them out. I was like, oh,
so sad. So yeah. But I will say with carving pumpkins,
it's kind of nice when it's like you know, you
have the carving and then you can put like a

little candle in it. Like I feel like you can't
really do that with painting because it's like you can
see inside.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
I will say though, that I think the painted pumpkins
are more aesthetic. I do find it gives more of
like a cute see look. Whereas as I said, if
you were not good at carving pumpkins, which I am not, like,
I feel like I've never actually had a I've never
been pumpkin ever. So I feel like if you know
for a fact that it's just not going to be
cute at all, I think you have a better shot
at having a cute pumpkin if you paint. Also, to

add on to that, I feel like if you go
to a pumpkin patch to pick up the pumpkins, it's
ten times more enjoyable too, because you can kind of
make a whole afternoon out of it. So if you
have no plans this weekend on Saturday, you could go
to a pumpkin patch pick out you know, two pumpkins
with your best friend or your boyfriend slash husband, go home,
maybe make a full inspired dinner, and then start carving

(05:23):
your pumpkins or painting your pumpkins with a spooky movie on.
I think that to me is the most perfect spooky
like I think I'm gonna do that this weekend, like,
talk me about it. I'm just like, wait, I need
to do that. That sounds so fun. And then the
next one is a baking night. So I feel like
the Halloween theme cookies are usually out around this time
of the year, So if you go to the grocery store,

(05:43):
usually Pillsbury has a themed pumpkin cookies that you can
pick out. I think they have like pumpkins ghosts, maybe
like haunted houses, which yeah they have, oh, like the
scary cats or something like that. They always have really
interesting ones. But they also usually have like pumpkin spice cookies. Oh,
those are so good. Remember we bought those?

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Oh yes, yeah, remember didn't we combine them? Yes?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Oh wait, I forgot about that TikTok trend where they
took the pumpkin spice cookies and then the Halloween theme
with like the pumpkin o. Wha wait, God, I forgot
about that. That's something that's really good. I really like
that too. So yeah, you could pick out a few
cute cookies to pick out at the grocery store, or
you could do homemade cookies. I've seen people do honestly

(06:31):
really crazy things that I've seen on Pinterest, like I've
seen people take like marshmallows dipped it in chocolate to
like make like little ghosts.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Oh cute, yeah, like chocolate ghosts.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
I've seen people do like kind of like different like
spooky cocktails that you could make on dress, like witches potion,
like a green drink.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Remember we made that one year?

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:51):
But was that green drink?

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Oh?

Was it green apple juice? No?

No? Did we had color dot or like food?

No, we didn't.

It was literally pure green. I just don't don't remember
what the juice was. But it literally looked like witches potion.

Wasn't it. We made it alcoholic and we added like
green grenadine.

I Oh that's what it was.

You're right, you're right, and we just added like I
think it was like a lemon lime poppy.

Or yeah, true, I think you're right. So there's that
idea too. If you go on Pinterest and just kind
of search like Halloween theme cocktails or Halloween theme desserts
or whatever, there's so many fun creative ideas that you
could do for like a baking night, And you could
also do like a baking night with your friends, which
I think you did recently.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, so me and my friends we did more of
like a fall baking night, because this was like more
early October, I think late September, and so we all,
there was six of us, we got into like little teams,
and then we all came with our own recipe. So
me and my friend we did like s'more cookies I think,

and then there was also apple cinnamon blondies and cinnamon rolls,
and so we kind of made it a competition, and
like we had my friend's mom try it, her brother
and like picking their favorite. We all each got one
point from like an outside person. So yeah, it was
a really fun little activity and to like have a

little dessert after was like so nice.

Yeah, I love that idea.

So if you have a few friends and you want
to do a little bake off and make it with
like a bit of a spooky theme. I also, oh
my godness, I can't believe forgot about this the candy
salad trend on TikTok.

WHOA, Like I needed to do a spooky night one.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Like there's so many cute like little pumpkin gummies that
you could get and just kind of like throw it
all into a bowl with like different types of Halloween candy.
Go to bulkburn, pick out your favorite different types of treats,
throw it all in a bowl.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I know Zach loves when I make a candy saladies
like this is Heaven.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I also loved what we did last year too, where
we made ghost pizzas.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Yes, that was so oh wait, I love that.

I need to do that again too.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
And then you like do the sauce and you can
do like the eyes with like pepperoni, and do like
the cheese.

And make a mouth. Yeah, we should do that. That
was fun.

So speaking about baking and candy salads and pumpkin patches
and all that, there's also the idea of just doing
a Halloween movie night marathon. So Zach and I actually
just recently watched Scream. We watched allso watch Did you
did you watch all six?

I don't watched did you watch all six?

Speaker 1 (09:24):
I watch all them? Oh wow, the last two we've
never seen.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Okay, I need to do that because I've only seen
up to five. So I've also haven't seen the last two.
But I only watched. I only just started. I think
I watched the first two, so yeah, I haven't finished.
The lots are like my favorite movies.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
The last two are on Amazon Prime.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Okay, and you need to.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Watch them because it's a totally different storyline okay, which
I kind of like because it makes it scarier. Oh
it was really gory. Yeah I didn't really like that. Okay,
like the other one, the beginning screams are gory, but
this was like like a little too much stabbing, Like it.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Was like, oh, I don't love an over.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I feel like the reason I love like the screen movies,
especially like the like like the first second third, is
because I feel like it's like not super scary, not
super intense, like you know, like it's just I don't know,
those movies don't scare me too much as if I
were to watch like for example, I could never watch
like a like a possessed.

Or like a conjuring. I was just no, I can't
do that. The conjuring is the scary. No, actually that's
not the scariest we've ever seen. The scariest movie I've
ever seen is the Chucky one. No Sinisters, Do.

Yeah? No?

Speaker 3 (10:38):
No't even want to talk about it.

Is it's a freaking trailer creeps me out like like
Little Girl. Yes, No, the one where it's like where
they get to the house, the new house, and then
they finally find the projector and then they see videos. Yeah,
that's the scariest when I I can never rewatch.

That, will never like that scar always my mind, well
not always in my mind, but like I just like
when I think of horror movies, that's the exact scene
like that, I'll speak of them in the attic.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Oh no, it's so scary, like like conjuring is scary,
And I probably wouldn't watch that again either. I used
to be obsessed with horror movies and now I'm just like, no.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I refuse, Like I'll watch the Scream movie or like
more of Like I feel like there's a difference between
Halloween movie and horror movie. Yeah, I'll watch a Halloween movie.
I will not watch, yeah, a horror movie. Like there's
also Nightmare on Elm Street. That kind of freaked me, honest. Yeah,
but like doa.

BWL you know what, you know what it is.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
You have to find a horror movie with a storyline,
so it's not like constant like I mean, I guess
they all have a storyline, but like that's not as
creepy like kind of like the screams. It's kind of
like them in high school. You kind of see like
a fun from the side, and then you have to
try and figure out who the killer is. That's like
within their friend group, whereas like The Conjuring, it's like
creepy house, creepy dolls, possess be Yeah, it's just like

not really anything exciting at it, Like it's all creepy.

And also like not super relatable. I find yeah, like anyways,
but I also think too, it's also fun to watch
movies that aren't super scary. Yes, Halloween Town or like
hocus Pocus, like those are just classic, or like The
Adams Family, Yeah, or The Nightmare Before Christmas. Yeah, it's

a cute one. Beetlejuice, Yeah, the one with the bride,
the Corpse Bride.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
I've never heard of that one.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Oh, it's it's a cute one.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
There's also Casper. I feel like that's a really really
cute one.

Oh wait, you know what else, I kind of relate
the creep not creepy Halloween too.

I don't know why, Scooby Doo. Oh yeah, I kind
of see it as Halloween a little bit.

Also, we're we just searched like these movies, movies in
case you're wondering.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Yeah, and then oh, the Haunted Mansion. I loved that.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Haunted Mansion was my favorite.

Yeah, so much.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I watched that movie goose Bumps. Oh, Hotel Transylvania is cute,
but yeah, the Haunted Mansion was like my favorite favorite movie.
I don't know why. I was just so obsessed with it.
And I always think about it randomly too, And I
definitely need to watch it before Halloween. I feel like
there's so much I need to do. It's like stressing

me out.

Another thing that we've always grown up doing is decorating
our house either the day before Halloween or on Halloween,
especially before the kids come trick or treating. So my
parents always used to do like a haunted house in
the garage, and like, my parents have some creepy stuff,
and I honestly think it's because we force slept to
buy it. Like you know, those creepy statues that you
see a Canadian tire that people have been posting about

on social media, we have We have no we still
have them.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
We literally have a bunch of them.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
You will not believe. Like we were that house. Yeah,
we we were that house on the street that went
full out that everybody wanted to go trick or treating to.
Everybody talked about. We did it for a few years
and then we stopped doing it, and it was kind
of sad because then people would come and be like,
why didn't you do the haunted house this year? Like

we literally like we turned our entire garage into like
this haunted house that people would walk through. We had
a strobe light, we had a fog machine, like so
creepy music.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah, like so creepy that we had Zach and my
dad dress up as like Michael Myer's yeah, chain fake
chainsaw noises.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
You know.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Zach had like an actual fake chain saw in his
hand and would hide under his truck.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
And like it was actually And then like the statues
that we had, they obviously like talk and we had
like creepy dog and then me and Madison sometimes would
like wear blood on us and like, yeah.

Dress up is creepy.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
People Like we would just like walk around like dressed
in like all black with a mask on and just
just like go up to random people.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Like remember, we would do the black socks over our
face and people were like what the heck is that?
And we had like black tarps in the garage, so
it literally looked like just that, like a black black
And then there's my mom all dressed up with the
candies like come on, kids, and some of the kids
are like no, I'm okay, and then my mom would
be like you guys.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Are too scary, Like the kids aren't even coming in.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Yeah, anyway, it was so fun. We need to bring
that back. Yeah, it's just so much effort. Like we
typically we wouldn't decorate our house at all prior to Halloween,
and then Halloween Day it's like we're all up.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
It's a mission.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
We're prepping, Like like we would.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Be done high school at what three thirty, and like
we would spend my dad would leave work early.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
We would spend like four hours doing the garage. Like guys,
this was a project.

Yeah, Like so no one would really know in advance,
like what it was going to look like. It was
just a whole thing, but it was so fun.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I think we might need to bring that back when
I start having kids, because yeah, mom and dad would.

Love to have that for their future grandchildren.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
You just better hope your kid doesn't get scared or.

I'm traumatizing it. Yeah the kid bore kid anyways.

But that's what we used to do growing up, and
it's something that we loved doing. Another thing that we
love to do usually during around this time of the
year two is finding like some.

Typ of like horror tour.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
So we have something called Saunders Farm where there's like
a haunted hay ride, there's a haunted house, a haunted
corn maze. That's actually one thing that I always avoid
a I never do the corn maze that's the ice farm,
because it's people inside the corn maze like following you,
like chasing you. So you're running through a corn maze, Well,
these creepy people are chasing you like that. The haunted
house alone, I'm already kind of creeped out by and I.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Just mind my the one I always thought was really creepy.
There's this one, I guess ride even though it's not
really a ride. You're just like walking through a four
and somebody follows you. Oh yeah, like somebody gets behind
you and starts following you with like chainsaw. Yeah, you're
just like running.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Were booking it.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
We're booking it. So that one I always hated, but
I never I don't think I've ever done the corn Maze.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
I need to do that, I've never know. I'm not
doing it. I'm avoid I'm.

Going next week.

Yeah I am too. When Oh, let's make plans. I
think that's all. Honestly.

The rest that we had on our list was more
so just kind of like throwing a Halloween party or
going to a Halloween party dressing up. Zach and I
dressed up last year. I don't know if we're going
to dress up this year because we don't really have
I know, we don't really have a Halloween party this year,
so unfortunately, I know, I honestly kind of just want
to buy a costume just to dress up.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
I don't know, I know some people.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Do that, but.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Yeah, that's kind of like the determining factor right now.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Our costume last year was so cute. It was so cute,
it was so good. Yeah, that was actually a really
good costume. So I do have that red wig that
I wore for Katies. That's your so I could find
a character with Maybe someone actually said Kim possible.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
At the Bachelrette party, I was like, Oh, I wonder,
I wonder if I can use this for like a
Halloween costume. I don't know, I can think of a
cute idea.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Maybe.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yeah, Okay, well keep you posted. I might be doing
something with a red wig. We shall see. All right, Well,
that's our spooky bucket list. We're now going to briefly
talk about our horror stories through our health and wellness journey.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
I have a few.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Madison has a few that we're gonna kind of just
talk about quickly because this kind of inspired me because
I've seen a few podcast episodes just about like horror
stories when it comes to like dating or horror stories
of like.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Things that may have actually happened to you.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Let are kind of like more spooky, like ghost you know, paranormal.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Activity, vibes, whatever the heck.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
I don't really have a story about that, but I'm like,
I have some horror stories when it comes to like
things I did in my health and wellness journey that
I look back on and I'm like, what the fuck
was I thinking, Like that is scary to think about
doing that again. Yeah, but yeah, So he are some
of the ones that I kind of went through. The
first one was completely removing dairy out of my lifestyle.

(19:08):
This was the most stupidest thing I think I've ever done.
I think back then, I was following so many influencers
who were I guess dairy free, and they were drinking
almond milk or oat milk, and at the time, I
just felt this need where I.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Had to make the switch.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
And this was like when people like were starting to
make like almond milk. This was like the first time
I ever kind of came out so weird.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Because it was like this whole it was almost like
a trend where like no one was drinking regular milk,
and it was so bizarre and like convincing us that
like milk is bad, ye, like milk is like in everything.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Yeah, it was such a weird time in our life,
and I felt like if you were like a person
that was striving to be healthy, you had to jump
on this trend. And it felt like all these health
and wellness influencers that were drinking almond milk. I don't
even think oat milk was a thing at that time,
to be. I just remember constantly buying almond milk, and
I remember my parents still buying dairy, and they would
put dairy in like you know, mashed potatoes or whatever

that they were cooking us for dinner. And I'm like, oh, well, no,
I gotta have almond milk. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Like that, again, we weren't even classified as like lactose,
and like we we.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Could consume dairy and have no issues.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Everyone else was doing it.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yeah, I got to hop on the trend. And now
here here we are, everyone's going back to dairy. And
now people are actually having complications of bringing back dairy
into their lifestyle because they were drinking almond milk and
oh milk for so long. Yeah, and again there's pros
and cons to each. I don't think dairy or the
plant based milks are like they're different in their own.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Ways, and it's like everyone's different, Like plant based may
work for your body, yeah for you, or dairy may
be what's what works best for you. It's just funny how.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Like we were drinking dairy no problem, and then we decided, oh,
we got to hop on this trend, like if you
can't drink dairy or you're literally lactose intolerant, like don't
consume dairy, like have plant based milks. But if you
can drink dairy, why are we changing it up? Like,
let's not hop on these stupid trends. So that's probably
the first one because I think it was like a

while for us to kind of get back to the
taste of dairy and like our stomach kind of adjusting
to dairy again. So now we're both back on dairy
and our stomachs are happy, so that's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
One of my horror stories that I think I can
talk about is for the longest time, I feel like
I really struggled, and I think Kaylee struggled with this too.
Is I used to get these like little bumps like
all over my face and take in before I had

like a very very simple routine, but once again from
TikTok and like just like trends on social media.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Like buying new skincare products and you see that are trendang, So.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Like I don't even remember what products I was using before,
but I remember I was using products that worked, and
then I switched to what everybody else was using. I
feel like there was like a time where everyone was
using Sarah Bay. Is that how you're saying, Sarah? So
then I felt like I had to switch to sarave,
even though what I was doing was fine. And also
a lot of people were like using like chemical exfolians

and things like that, So then I started implementing that,
and I feel like I was doing all this stuff
without understanding like how to properly use it. Like I'm
not saying any of this stuff is bad, but like
I just didn't.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Know, well, not even that it could just be like
your skin doesn't react well product with.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
The chemical exfullience. I definitely just didn't know how to
properly use it then. But also too with like, for example, sarave,
like I just it didn't work for my skin, so
I was getting all these bumps and I just didn't
know what it was. So I did all this research
and I was like, you know what, I'm going to
like the most basic, basic routine. I literally bought a

(22:52):
facewash from like Nutrigena with like three ingredients in it,
like literally like so so simple and a moisture, and
to this day, I still use the moisturizer. And now
I feel like I do a lot of research before
including new products into my routine, Like I make sure
I feel like I now know from all the research

(23:12):
I did, specific ingredients that do break me out, Yeah,
to avoid, to avoid exactly. So I feel like now
I have a good, you know, routine. But it was
just kind of like once again a funny story or
horror story of how you know I was. I was
following what I was seeing on social media and not
knowing that that was the reason, and I was getting

(23:35):
these like bumps. Also, do I think of buddy stories
that I used to try, like these like natural face masks.
Have you seen them on TikTok where people use like
Greek yogurt on or like egg yo or like.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Turmoric banana peels.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Yeah, I would like putty like honey, like just like
making like I literally make this DIY face mask and
my kitchen and my mom's like what are you doing?
Like I'd bring it up to my room and I'd
wear it overnight. Yeah, I'm not sure if it did anything.
I feel like I never noticed a big difference, but yeah,

(24:11):
that's just like another funny story.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
I will say Madison is like my go to person
whenever I do buy a new product. I'm like, Okay,
tell me the ingredients because we do have similar skin types,
which is nice because I feel like she can kind
of help me out for specific face washes and all that.
But one thing about me is I'm very very simple
when it comes to my face wash skincare. Like I
see so many girls like with the retinal and the

(24:36):
chemical expollience and whatever, and again that works for you great,
but like for me, I've realized that the more I
put on my face, the more it's going to react.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Ye, because I like yeah, and I feel like two
less is more. So like yeah, I feel like if
there's a product with like a bunch of ingredients, it's
typically something that like I try not to use or
like I'll just like make sure to research and ensure
that like all the ingredients are like okay and good
for my skin. But it's definitely nice that we have

(25:07):
very similar skin types because I know, like if she
tries a new product and it doesn't break her out,
then I'm like okay, I feel like I'm probably okay
considering she's fine, so okay.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
The next one for me in terms of a horror
story that I've had is my toxic relationship with food.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
I used to be so toxic.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
I'm not even gonna lie, Like I've talked about this
in the past, but I used to completely cut out
entire food groups, like I didn't want to have any
fat or carbs. Sometimes I would also like skip meals completely,
you know, not realizing that me actually, like not eating
was probably actually gaining weight for myself, Like I actually

(25:48):
wasn't seeing a difference in my body. And then I
started to find a healthy relationship with food, you know,
figure out okay, eating you know, lean proteins and eating
the carbs, like the healthy carbs that we see like
sweet potatoes, potatoes, rice, Like then I started to realize that,
oh wait, okay, these are actually the proper foods that
we should be eating. Like for the longest time, I

(26:09):
was scared to eat a fucking avocado because it was
so high in fat, Like that is so toxic. I remember,
I used to remove like pasta out of my routine,
Like I would only eat like zoodles, which is basically
zucchini in the form of noodles.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
They are good, but like the fact I had to
replace it.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, or I would go to a restaurant and I'd
be so terrified to order like, you know, a past
a meal and be like, oh, like this is going
to ruin my progress. I'm gonna wake up and I'm
gonna lose all the you know working out that I did.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Blah blah blah. It was so freaking toxic.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
And I think over time, just kind of like educating
myself actually doing the research, I kind of found a
way of healing and actually figuring out ways to build
lean muscle and figuring out that Okay, it's good to
actually eat these healthy fats. It's good to actually have
these lean proteins. It's good to have the balance of
going out to a restaurant indulging what you want, eat
what you create, because if you avoid eating those food groups, like,

(27:02):
it's actually gonna be worse. So finding the balance also
has been a huge lifesaver. But yeah, I think that's
probably one horror story that like really just I don't know,
I wish it never happened because I think it really
damaged like just my mental state when it came to
eating and you shouldn't see food as the enemy.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
You should see it as fuel, and you should see.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
It as something that you know makes you feel energized,
it makes you feel good.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
And a problem when it comes to like eating healthy,
especially now that you've like sort of found foods that
you like and what you don't like, I feel like
it's not even about like, oh, eating healthy because I
have to. It's like, oh, I actually enjoy yes, yeah,
and that's the whole point. Like you're eating food because
you enjoy it, or you're eating specific foods because that's

(27:53):
what you want.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
But I think also people like, forget how some of
these healthy foods like sweet potato it's so good, like
you know what I mean, Like it's it's healthy, but
it's so good in my opinion, Like white rice, it's
that's not a bad thing to have.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
It's a simple car.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
But maybe back in the day people were like, oh god,
you gotta eat brown rice not white rice, or you
gotta have quen wa like freak the rice. Like I
have to be honest, I do not like quenoa. It's healthy,
but I do not like it. That is one healthy.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Food I know.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
But anyways, so I just wanted to talk about that
because that was a very bad time in my life
that I do not miss whatsoever. And I'm so happy
I healed my relationship with food because now I'm all
about balance.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
I crave and eat what I want, and yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
I'm just happy that I don't have to deal with that,
because that is a horror story to think about.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
I feel like I also have another horror story, not
really with food, but with caffeine. My journey with caffeine
has been pretty crazy. So I remember back in the day,
like when I first started university, I hated coffee, Like
I hated the taste of coffee, would never have it.

(29:01):
But like all my friends were having it, and like
they were talking about, like, oh, I need a coffee
to like get through studying for this exam, like and
so I started thinking, like I need to start drinking coffee.
Like how am I going to do?

Speaker 3 (29:13):
How am I going to get through it?

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah? How am I going to get through university without
having coffee? But because I hated the taste of coffee
so much, I would have to put so much sugar
in buy coffee. Like you remember the way I used to.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Make my traps.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
I would add cream I would like put like two,
like I don't even know the creamers, like yeah, all
the creamers a bunch of sugar, like just for it
to taste good. And I'm like, okay, I'm good. But
I think, honestly, on top of that, plus, I feel
like I was honestly trying to drink too much coffee

(29:49):
and just going from like not drinking coffee at all
to now like two coffee's a day with all this sugar.
It honestly was way too much for my body to handle.
Literally remember starting to have the shakes, like my body
was legit shaking because it just couldn't handle all of

(30:09):
you know, all the caffeine, the sugar, all that. So
then I started to kind of like wean off it,
like I just started not drinking it as much and
also trying to you know, I think over time, I
actually started to enjoy the taste of coffee more so,
like adding less sugar less creamers, and like I really

(30:29):
just like went on this journey of trying to figure out, Okay,
what's a creamer. I like, that's still healthy, what's you know,
like maybe only a little teaspoon of sugar things like that,
and over time, I just like started you know, adding
less and less creamer, less and less sweetener because I
just started to actually love the taste of coffee. But

(30:52):
then I kind of went through another period where like
my anxiety started getting bad, where like I was having
caffeine before for having breakfast, so like no food and
like ee legit was so anxious all day. And I
notice a pattern that I'd be anxious when I had coffee,
and so I feel like that taught me. Okay, I

(31:14):
kind of completely once again eliminated caffeine and switched to
DCALF and I was only drinking decalf. But I also
like I remember, you know, I loved n Espresso pods
and there was only like specific pods Decaf, so I
was like getting SAgs. I was like, oh, like I
can't have this pop. I was like, you know what,
I can build a routine that works for me. So

(31:35):
I really tried to kind of figure out what worked
best for my body. So one thing was, you know,
eating before having caffeine, Like that's a non negotiable for
me now, and maybe on the days where I am
feeling more anxious, I'll switch to decalf. Like for example,
I'm always anxious on my period, so I'll try to

(31:55):
drink decalf more throughout my period. But yeah, I feel
like now I have our tintine and a better relationship
with caffeine because I know how it affects my body
and what I can do to sort of avoid that.
And there are still times where like I'll have caffeine
and I'm like super anxious, and I'll be like, oh,
I shouldn't have had a coffee.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Today, Like no, it's so true, like even for me too.
I feel like it depends on my cycle as a woman.
Obviously we go through different phases throughout our menstrual cycle.
And I feel like if I have a coffee some days,
I notice that I am more anxious than others. And
I always have a big breakfast before I have a coffee.
So I'm the same way non negotiable, neat t eat
a breakfast before I have my coffee. But you can

(32:35):
also obviously like see how strong the caffeine is in
certain pods with espresso, which is nice, so we usually
get ones that are not like overly strong again to
avoid anxiety. So I have a similar situation. I also
find this kind of goes with my horror story is
sometimes alcohol relates to anxiety, which I think not enough
people talk about that, because I think there's a lot

(32:56):
of people out there that probably go to the same
situation where they feel super anxious the next day or
in the moment when they are drinking, especially like that's
why I don't drink that much.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Is because it spikes my anxiety.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
And maybe some people don't realize that for themselves either,
but for me, I started to notice that, and I'm like, Okay,
is it really worth having those two glasses of wine?
Probably not. If I have like one glass of wine
or one spicy mark or something, usually I'm okay the
next day. But again, that's the same thing with coffee.
I don't have more than one coffee a day. If
I had more than one coffee a day, my anxiety,

(33:27):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
I also like, will not sleep.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
No, that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
We both cannot have a coffee in the afternoon like
past Like one pm is my max. If I have
anything at like two or three, I'm not going about
sleeping now. I will not be sleeping. So we're both
kind of the same in that sense. But yeah, okay.
My last horror story when it comes to like my
health and wellness journey would be not having any rest days.
When I was obsessed with my health and wellness journey,

(33:52):
I could not stop working out. Like I was working
out seven days a week, I was not giving my
body enough rest days, which thinking back, I'm shocked that
I never like severely injured myself because I was also
lifting heavy weights and when you're doing that so often,
it's so toxic for your body. So finding the balance

(34:13):
of being able to like actually realize that you need
the rest days because your body needs to kind of
just like process what you've done these past few days,
and then oh, you know, the following day after your
rest day, you get back into the workout that you
want to do.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
So I think again, it's.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
More so just like research and like honestly following other
influencers that have kind of like helped me out in
the sense. Like again back in the day, this is
when I wasn't an influencer, but following other like fitness
influencers or people who are in like the health and
wellness journey of understanding that like it's so important for
these rest days kind of inspired me to realize, Okay,
this is actually better for my body, and it's going

(34:50):
to help me avoid you know, potential injury in the future.
And you know, on my rest days, I find ways
to move my body to make me feel good, which
is walking, right, Like walking is a huge one for me.
So if I'm not working out, I'm typically going on
a thirty to forty minute walk that day, so at
least I know I've done some movement. And I don't know,
I just think it makes me go into my day
feeling a bit better.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
And yeah, I don't know. I feel like like any
tip of.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Movement just is my source of therapy, Like I feel
like I need it, not just to I don't know,
like it just it's an aera, you know what it is.
It's it's a way to clear my head. Yeah, that's
what it is. When I'm feeling overwhelmed with work or
feeling stressed or anxious, going on a walk or doing
my workout completely just like blocks anything out.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Yeah. Well, they do say all the time that like
any sort of exercise is a form of like therapy,
like it's it releases like endorphins or exactly mean something
like that. So it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Because someone actually asks me on my Instagram story, like, oh,
what motivates you so much to work out all the time?
And I'm like, honestly, it's just like the feeling. It's good,
Like it feels good. Like again, I enjoy those rest days,
but I still like to find ways to move my
body because mentally, it just like makes me feel good.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Like I also feel like it sets the.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Tone, especially if you're doing a workout in the morning
or you're going for a walk in the morning, it
sets the tone for the day. I notice a lot
that if I have a workout in the morning, I
feel way more productive. I just feel better about myself.
I feel good. Like it just puts me in this
like great mindset and I just I feel good and
I'm like ready to start the day. And I also

(36:18):
think too, it's important what you were saying about, like
rest days and all that is also just like listening
to your body. You may have a routine that you follow,
Let's say it's like five days a week that you
worked out, but you may wake up one morning and
your back is hurting or your shoulders hurting. Yeah, well
I had my back in exactly, and you're like, you

(36:40):
know what, I'm going to listen to my body and
I'm gonna take the day off, and that's okay. If
this week you only work out three times instead of
five times, like that's totally okay. Like listening to your body,
I think is so important. But also if you're at
your workout studio, like just having that mental note like okay,
you know my ankle's a little sore, or like let's

(37:00):
not push it. Let's not push it. That was lower
on the weights today, like things.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
That was literally me today, Like I literally was in
plates today and I tried to in my head, I was, Okay,
your back injury is still here. Yeah, my physio has
cleared me to do more workouts, and I have a
hard time not challenging myself. I don't know, yah, I
think it's like just something I want to, you want to.
So then she says to do a move and I'm
already kind of feeling uncomfortable in my back, and then

(37:26):
of course I try and do it, and what do
you think happens?

Speaker 3 (37:27):
The carriage literally slams, and I'm like, oh, this is
why I shouldn't have done it.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Yeah, So then I stopped completely and I was like, okay,
that's my body telling.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
Me that you should be doing this, you need to stop.
So I listened to my body. I stopped. And that's
why it's really important to listen to your body. I
totally agree with that.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
So the last little horror story, I feel like I
have kind of like what Kaylee talked about in terms
of food. I feel like, and still to this day,
I have such a huge graving for sweets. I'm just
like such a sweet tooth girl, like just like junk
food in general, Like give me like a beg of

(38:05):
chips or like you know, like sour patch kids or
like my favorite. But I feel like I struggled a
lot with like trying to find a balance. Like I
feel like I went through a period where I felt
like I did have to like completely eliminate it, and
it was like hard for me because I was like, well,
you know, I still crave it, this is all I want.

(38:28):
So I think it's really important, Like Kaylee always says,
like following like sort of like the eighty twenty rule
and like knowing that it's okay to like indulge every
now and then, and like if you're feeling a craving,
like that's totally okay. You know, like I'll have my
cheap days where you know, I'll do takeout and then
I'll go to the grocery store and I'll buy a
little sweet treat for myself, whether that's like a little

(38:51):
beg of chips or like you know, sour Patch kids,
or like I love Reese's pieces, Like I'll get a
little treat like that for myself. I also find like
I feel like it's fun to do if you're like
going to like a girl's night, Like I'll pick something
up on the way to a girl's night, even if
it's like not mandatory for me to bring anything. I'll
be like, you know what, like this is my way
to have a little sweet cheer. Yeah, like I'm having

(39:12):
it with my friends. So I feel like that also
really helps. And I feel like I also too, also
had a period of like where I wasn't eating breakfast,
and that kind of ties into like my sort of
caffeine journey as well.

Speaker 3 (39:27):
And also like your relationship with food.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, Like I wasn't eating in the mornings
and I was having coffee and then I was anxious
and it was just not a good relationship with food,
and it wasn't good for my body. And so I
feel like now since you know making it a priority
to have a big breakfast and to have a breakfast

(39:50):
I enjoy. And I'll be honest right now, I've been
hating breakfast, like I FaceTime Killie every single day, being like,
I don't know what to eat this morning, and it's
really annoying. But this is why you need to.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Try new recipes.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Exactly. I still make sure, whether it's just a banana,
like I make sure to have something in the morning
because that's what makes me feel good and that's what's
good for my body. So even if it's just a banana,
just anything I can have in the morning to sort
of fuel me for the day has been, yeah, a

(40:25):
priority for me.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
But you recently started having oatmeal and you've.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Been like, I've been liking oatmeal right now. I'm just
like the type where like I will have the same
breakfast for like days in a row, weeks, and then
I'm like one day, I'm just like I'm sick of it.
I'm done, and so then I really struggle with trying
to find something new. So yeah, I'm going through that
right now. If anyone else is I'm right there with you.
But yeah, I'm I'm excited to find a breakfast that

(40:50):
just like excites me. Kaylee seems to have one right
now that I do.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
I change it up, I ditch. So we were having
yogurt bowls and that's what he kind of steered you
away from it. I've recently changed to savory breakfasts with
the avocado egg and all that, and She's confused how
I went from sweet to savory. But I'm like, I
think it's honestly like a mental thing. I think you
just have to do it.

Speaker 2 (41:10):
I have to force myself.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
And then it just I don't know. Now I wouldn't
say crave it. I just like I'm in the process
where I'm like, Okay, this is what I've been having,
this is what I've been buying for my groceries, and
I like it.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
Like your breakfast is what I crave for lunch, Like, yeah,
I love.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
A good but that used to be and now I'm.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Not like yeah, and now I'm like trying to switch
to having that in the morning. But I feel like
all I crave in the morning is like a yogurt
bowl or oatmeal with honey cinnamon, Like.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
And if that works for you, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Yeah, but I just like I'm kind of sick of it,
you know.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Yeah. Yeah, Well, so you'll figure something out.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
Yeah, there'll be something that you'll see on TikTok or
Pinterest and maybe maybe you have to do more research.
I do find searching things does help me find ways
to like incorporate into my routine. Like I found recipes
on TikTok, found this breakfast bowl that I loved, and
now I love it and I've been having it every
single morning. So I think do the research and putting
in the effort a bit more actually makes a difference,

(42:03):
