(01:29):
I appreciate that. I'm about twofists of the way through a nice bowl
of peegle to guayo and then thecucumbers are going to be a nice little
um. Well, you told meto vinegar water overnight at least make r
make refrigerator pickles. That the doorthat was that was a reminder to make
me wait, grow pub is here? No, man, you can do
(01:52):
those overnight in vinegar and water, salt and pepper or you know, there's
recipes all over the internet for refrigeratorpickles are pretty easy. You don't have
to do the full canning type dealas long as you don Okay, Well,
so let me ask you this vegetableman, have you ever grown avocado?
I'm not me neither. Yeah,And I was just wondering. I've
heard from people that this isn't agood area to grow avocados. But on
(02:14):
the other hand, I hear avocadosare easy to grow indoors. So I'm
just love avocados. If there wasonly some show on our sister station in
the mornings that we could listen toright down the hall, yeah, you
know I could answer that question. Can you look, maybe we should start
wine, you know what. Yeah, maybe I'll go down the hall to
the garden Novice. It'll be hardin new show. Oh man, Now
(02:38):
enjoy the vegetables. Yeah, Iappreciate it, Thank you. It's looking
to Yep. I grabbed that tomate off vine as I walked out to
the truck today, So there'll bemore coming, so you've better put those
away pretty quick. Love it.I can't keep up with the cucumbers,
man, this all this rain we'regetting in Texas nice well in the way,
groceries are skyrocketing. Those cucumbers areprobably worth six dollars each. Yep.
Oh yeah, I didn't even thinkabout that kind of take it for
(02:58):
granted sometimes when you grow your ownand on your own and all that type
of thing. So m that's uhthat's a great thing about being part of
the show and being part of theoutdoor industry. Uh. Let's see,
let's take a quick look and seewhat's happening in Houston's Fire Club Foundation.

who is the owner consultant with theWorldwide Trophy Adventures is going to be
happening at the Houston Racquet Club. He's going to be speaking to us about
(03:20):

of people who have actually hunted there. Fifteenth and sixteenth of June is going

there'll be more stuff coming, morenews. We've actually got a life member

today. Gen's Crow. Yeah,Jen's Crow. Jen's is a buddy of
mine. We've had him on theshow before. His formal title is he's
the vice president of marketing and productdevelopment with Walter or Arms. Jen.
Thanks so much for joining us,no one, thanks for having me.
I really appreciate it. Are youAre you back home in Arkansas this week.
Yeah, back home in Portsmouth,Arkansas this week. Kind of spoken
(04:54):
in the last bit of spring issuewhether before it gets pretty hot here.
Yeah, it's been a while sincewe talked. Some changes in your life.
You guys have a new a newbaby. Huh. Yeah, that's
right. My wife, she said, a baby girl about three and a
half weeks ago. Wow. Verycool. And you actually get to use
(05:15):
the phone. I know I'm hidingright now. Yeah, I remember those
days. What number child is thisfor you? This is number two?
Okay, Yeah, a lot easierthis time. Now. I found that
with my second kid, if Iwould have had him first, there wouldn't
have been a second kid. SoI'm interesting to I'm interested to see how
(05:35):
that's going to transpire for you.Yeah. Our our first kid was was
really challenging really for about the firstyear of his life, and so we
waited about four and a half yearsto go for number two. And you
know, she's she's fresh out,so it's as TBD, but so far,
so good, she's been awesome.Yeah, I had the same experience
(05:59):
you did. Someone was easy.Yeah, the second one he was.
And he knows this. So ifhe's to listen to this. I'm not
criticizing you, but but he wasan absolute terror. My wife always says,
we would sleep with one eye open, and then we for some reason
we decided to have a third andbut the middle wouldn't. Still remained a
terror until he was about twenty fiveyears old, and then we gave him
(06:23):
over to the US night. Yeah, very nice. Their problem now it's
a handoff here. Yeah. Yeah. So Jen's uh, it's been a
while since you've been with us.Give us a little bit of a history
on your background. You've been inthe farms industry for a while now.
Yeah. So I've been in theon the firearms manufacturers side or manisulctors side
for over sixteen years. Um,and I went started brettat of college.
(06:47):
I looked for Baretta ben Ellie Stiwhich is now Vaccato Short Stint with Blosser,
which is where you and I met, and I wound up here at
Walter Lot over three years. Sohow is it moving out of Republic of
Texas and living over in Arkansas?Arkansas is pretty good, folks. Huh,
Yeah, Arkansas is not bad. It's it's also not Texas. You
(07:11):
know, there's, um, there'sthings I missed about being over there,
um, and things I like aboutbeing here. So you know, it's
a different place, different culture.Um My wife is from Laredo and lived
in San Antonio in Austin, soyou know, I've lived in six or
seven misfits state so it's a muchbigger shift for her than for me.
(07:31):
But um, you know, we'rewe've adjusted. Raman is probably going to
ask you this, but so areyou having are you not? He want
to ask you this specifically? Areyou have withdrawals for good Mexican food over
there in Arkansas? Oh? Absolutely, every days. It's a it's a
rare thing over here. Um,yeah, I'm sure it is. I
(07:55):
mean I've had some, I've hadsome good country cooking in Arkansas, but
you know it's not it's not thesame thing. So what is the go
to meal in Arkansas? You know? VIP comes in and you go,
okay, well, we gotta takethis person out, you know, somewhere
really really wind you wind them anddying them. Where are we going?
Yeah? You know, we've gota few good restaurants here in town.
I one of them actually just shutdown, which are really kind of scratching
(08:16):
my head ache because they were alwayspacked. But you know, we've got
a really good steakhouse here, andwe've get a good sort of modern American
restaurant. Um that's kind of ourgo to the country. Cooking is great,
but you know it's we'll get peoplecoming into town once it's been a
little bit nicer. Yeah, right, right, it was so good that
(08:41):
they closed down. Nobody goes thereanymore. It's too crowded. Probably couldn't
get any probably didn't any help thesedays. All right, folks, taking
a break here on hunting matters. We've been back with our guests. GM's
crow from Walter. In just aminute, it's time to go fishing.

(10:22):
back to Honeymatters on KPRC nine fifty. This is your host show Beatira Roblists
joining us today as our guest Gen'sCrow. He's the vice president of marketing
and product development for Walter Arms. You need to go check out their website,
Ramone, I know you're already surfingover there Walter arms dot com.
That's w A l t h eR Arms arms dot com. Jen's thanks
once again for joining us. Yellnow, thank you guys for reving me
(10:45):
Ramone. Jen's Ramone is upset withme. Um. I don't think you're
gonna talk about it now. Iam going to talk about it because you
don't let me. You won't letme live it down. I offered to
take him to a fogneck island thiscoming fall and sad you see that reaction,
woo, and he said he couldn'tdo it, he had some other
stuff going on. And then Igo three days later he goes, oh,
(11:05):
man, I think I can workit out. I can go like
sloughts filled, And so he's poutingwith me. I don't think that's the
exact way it worked. It wasmore like, hey, that's the true
version. Your version. Maybe anopportunity. Maybe perhaps you go to Alaska
if you want to maybe, Andso it was really real washy. And
then when I finally said yeah, okay, I'll go, he'll go,
he says, oh no, nevermind. And you gotta take him up
(11:28):
on those you got a snatch thattrip up, because if you're going to
the Blue flots Day where we were, I mean, it's just unreal.
Yeah, yeah, we're going. We're gonna go back to see it Jerry
and college and our old friends there. Oh man, I'm I'm happy to
hear there's still a running itt um. Ye. Never know. I think
Jerry got both knees replaced since youand I saw him last. He'll be
(11:52):
right up the mountain. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's it's
it's it's a unique place. Iwas. I was not pleased to find
out your stay when American Airlines contactedme and said, oh, well we've
we've we've stopped running some of theselights between Anchorage and Kodiak, and um,
we're gonna need to rebook you.So that uh, that that late
night flight we took. And whenwe had left there and went through Chicago,
(12:15):
I think you went to the Westcoast. We went through Chicago.
That's the way I've got to goin and out. I've got to go
in and out of Chicago at midnight, going in and going out. But
you know what, it doesn't matteronce I get there, wha, It'll
all be good where Yeah, we'llsee. We got stuck there a couple
of days, didn't we. Yeah, the Scott foggy and the weather and
the weather came in and we thoughtwe were going to get out no problem,
(12:35):
and then we were there for likea day and a half and ended
up having to stay. Called upthe guy we had an Airbnb with on
the way in for one night. We called him up like, hey,
man, we're stuck. Are youopen? And he was the former harbor
master there for years and called himup and he said the first response was,
uh, like hit, this guydidn't have it, or he didn't
(12:58):
want us come back anyway, hehad a commodate us. We bunked in
there for one night, and thenwe're there for like a day and a
half. Finally we just went upto the gate at the airport, which
is no bigger than the room we'rein at that little airport there in Kodiak,
and said, look, you've gotto get us on the next jet
out of here. We've got togo home. We were there a day
and a half, like extra, yeah, so, but which I'll do
that day? I mean, didyou we went into town? What do
(13:20):
we do? We went in eightWe went to the local fishing widlife place
there and okay, so y'all hadstuff to do. Y'all weren't like sitting
at the airport or no, wellwe were. We were at the airport
for quite a while and finally theycanceled flight. Then we walked down the
street to some hole in the wallhotel and sat there in their bar.
And then finally we're like, well, we're not going home today, fellows.
So we got to find a placeto sleep. And that's but that's
(13:41):
exactly that's fun. That's an adventure. Part of the adventure. Yeah,
I'm still talking about it five yearslater, so you know, and I'll
never know, you know, Joe, I don't think I told you the
story. When I was flying back. So I flew back to Portland and
you know, I had to sleepin the airport here, so it was
pretty long way over um and youknow, kind of get to the gate
(14:03):
a little red eye, you know, not really paying attention to what's going
on or anything. And the pilotwalked up to me. He goes,
hey, maybe coming back from myhunt. You know, I had a
cameo backpack and probably looked like craps. I hadn't hadn't showered or you know,
been out and about. And Iwas like, yeah, you want,
We're up on a podmack and blahblah blah. I got to talking
to him and he's like, well, you'll have to listen to this recording
(14:24):
because this is something I did aboutfifteen years ago. I did a radio
show about a bear attack. He'slike, I was in a bush playing
accident and basically had a bar attacksituation. And I don't remember all the
details. It's been a few years, but it's just really wild because it's
(14:45):
pilot's like, yeah, you know, I don't worry about crashing on this
flight because I've been in my oneone one crash. Wow. Yeah,
that's chances of being a tour youknow's gotta make you feel a little uneasy.
Yeah, but really a super nicegay. Yeah that's cool. Yeah,
it's funny how people said this daythe camera backpacks of the boots or
(15:05):
something. They'll approaching an airport andask you yeah, or you'll get a
side that side eye. Sometimes they'llcast out side I oh, he's a
hunter. It's like, well yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
That's why I smell this way.Yeah, I do. Remember we were
kind of scrambling, yeah, proudof it, scrambling to get on a
plane and get out of there. But anyway, Um, for the for
the folks, listen, Jens,if they didn't hear the episode we did
(15:26):
with you quite a while back, tell us a little bit about Walter.
Where's it based? What do youguys do? And I want to dig
into some of the some of theproducts here in a few minutes. Yeah,
for sure. So m Walter inthe United States is basically in Fort
Smith, Arkansas, and we arethe soul importer for anything Walter Arms related.
(15:48):
So we have two factories in Germanythat make the majority of our product,
and we make right now two productshere in the US. That's the
PPK and Walter PDP exts been madehere in Fort Smith. The majority of
rather products come from either the southof Germany and Holm or the north of
Germany and Arnsberg. You know, you sent me a picture before we did
(16:11):
this interview and there was a pictureof you on a driven Russian boar hunt.
When when when did you do that? Yeah? So that was in
November of twenty twenty two, soabout six months ago to seven. However
long the guy that owns Walter Overallhost a hunt just outside of Berlin every
(16:33):
year, and I was looking upto go this year and shoot just a
really awesome Russian boar and a reallyfun hunt. I mean, it's something
we've never seen here in America. It feels like a very American hunt.
You know, you're shooting shooting gamesomewhat on the run. It's you get
beaters out in the driving game team. So it's a it's a lot of
fun, super unique, you know, something we never see here in the
(16:56):
US. And I think it's justbecause landowners here don't set up for it.
Yeah, it's over there, youknow. If they have a recreational
hunting property, that's that's what they'redoing. They're building everything around doing that.
That's very cool, folks. Ifyou're listening to the podcast today,
you can go to wet we givedot org and click on the honeymotters dropped
down and you'll see Genes's picture therewith his big Russian boar. Yeah,
(17:19):
you had that look on your face, like, whoa, that was cool.
Well, I was just blown awaybecause it's hard to tell the size
of those things when they're, youknow, kind of chomping through the woods,
and they're usually have some dogs behindthem or some beaters, so it's
you know, you don't always geta good look at the animal. Obviously,
you can see it's general size andmost of the time it's gender.
(17:44):
But you know, it's until Iwalked up to it, I didn't I
didn't think it was as big asit was. Yeah, when you guys
were doing those drives, were youseeing like one or twos or big groups
or just varied? Yeah, sovaried. The way they do it is
they're trying to drive the game andthe circle you're on kind of a high
stand overlooking neither road or woods, and so I think on that hunt,
(18:07):
I shot one road deer, onefallow deer, and two two pigs and
over there. You know, theythey have a slightly different view of conservation.
So they're trying to do one hunta year on our particular piece of
property versus you know, hunting everyweekend or or anything like that. So
(18:30):
these these drives are a really bigdeal to them. They're only driving a
particular piece of property once a year, so it's a it's a big event.
I mean, it's a big ceremony. You've got probably forty or fifty
people out there, less than halfour hunters who rest are you know,
drivers or beaters, guys running dogsand chasing animals around. So uh,
(18:56):
you know, kind of the beginningof that drive, the animals are fresh
and they're running, and they're togetherthroughout the course of the few hours of
the drive that I gets split up. So you know you'll see groups at
first, and then later in thein the morning, see some see some
singles running out. That particular boardwas by himself. What kind of dogs
(19:18):
are they running? That's a greatquestion because it's everything from dockins to German
short hairs too. You know, different kinds of quote unquote German hunting dogs.
A lot of stuff that we don'tsee over here. You like a
German wire hair or you know, pointing distance your phone. I'm never sure
(19:41):
which one of those is great rum. So a lot of really cool dogs,
but a lot of little wire doctorsrunning around, which is you know
kind of that's true? That's cool, that's cool. All right, folks,
you're gonna take a quick break hereon Hunting Matters KPRC nine fifty.
We'll be back after the break.M good. Welcome back to Hunting Matters
(20:49):
on KPRC nine fifty. This showsJoe Batori. I am Ramone rubelists when
you stay as our guest. Jen'sCrow the vice president of Marketing Development product
Development with Walter Arm. Check outtheir website at walter arms dot com.
Jen's thanks so much for joining usagain. Thank you guys. Just interview
is going to cost me another thousanddollars probably yeah, you're shopping. Yeah,
(21:11):
but we'll get some product guidance herefrom Jen's in a second on my
questions, need to need to whichone you need to pick up the next
which is the one I can easilyconvince my wife I have to have for
the safety of our family. Wellnot, I mean that's not the question.
That'll be one of the questions.Jen's what would you probably h PPS
series? Um, it's the easiestto talk to wife into because it's ergonomically
(21:37):
designed for smaller hands or women's hands, So it's gonna it's gonna shoot a
lot better for her. So ifhe's getten, you know, like a
bedside gun and a nice bedside safe, you know, it's the one that
she would be a lot more comfortableshooting as well. I think they'd be
perfect for you because you do havewomen's hands. Ramone, Hey, now
come on, man, let getthese hands. Yeah, I take that
(21:57):
back. Stop hitting me. Hey, Jans, what's what's new? What's
new with Walter? You guys haveanything new going on over there? Yeah?
So we've always got some some coolnew stuff. So he's at P
ninety nine, final edition that wejust started shipping like this week. It's
(22:17):
a really cool gun. P ninetynine. It's been around since the late
nineties, ninety seven, I believegorgeous and so it was a James Bond
guy. It was Pierce's a gun, So I think three of the four
Bond movies that he was in mightbe wrong with that. I'm trying to
get some tape mail from the Bondof Sisionato that marketing doesn't hurt, does
it? So no, it's uh, you know, we love being associated
(22:44):
with a brand like Bond. Um. I wish I could say it was
some marketing genius that we paid for. You know, bonb chose whose TPK
a long time ago, and he'ssort of stuck with it. Fantastic.
Yeah, I'm looking at the atthe gun right now. Obviously you were
to tell us why it's the finaledition and I interrupted you. Yeah,
so I've been around twenty six yearsand you know, just kind of time
(23:07):
to move production into some newer stuff, and so we give giving it a
final sim off with a special engravingon the slide. I remembered a coin
m O D green frame, whichis kind of always one of the more
desirable configurations, and ship's in areally nice case. So um, you
(23:27):
know, we'll be sending those gunsthroughout this year out to our dealers,
and I think they just sent thefirst shipment like last week, so they
should be hot and available right now. I'm looking at the PPK, the
stainless version, and I just it'samazing how the brand has just so well
(23:48):
integrated itself with James Bond, becauseI look at this gun and I remember
Timothy Dalton holding this gun and youknow, not only shooting people but hitting
people. Yeah, you know,And I'm thinking, dang, that's it's
It's just it's funny how that works. Yeah, and you're you're a movie
buff and his shop buff too,So that's right up your alley. Yeah,
it's a fantastic good on you.Well, let's go what else?
What else do you have? Whatelse do you guys have going on?
(24:10):
Over at Walter So we got anew PPK Meister Edition. It's new this
year. Our Maister m shop hasbeen in Germany kind of doing some hiring
custom steel frame guns for the pastcouple of years, and we brought some
of that knowledge to America with thePPK. So we've got a nice,
(24:30):
fully engraved higher inversion out this year. Um. Those are going to be
shipping seen as well. Um.And then, uh, did you have
the w n P last time?I spoke to your audience, I don't
think so. So the w NPis our twenty two magnum pistol. So
it's it's been an awesome gun forhunters and trappers and outdoors in the life.
(24:55):
It's super light. You can carrya ton of ammo, yeah,
fifteen the twenty two magnum in thereum. So it's a great sort of
backcountry gun if you're not looking forsomething that's like they're defense, if you're
just looking for something more to potentiallyshoot some food with because you can carry
so much ammo. Um. It'salso you know, aluminum glide because you
(25:19):
can do that with twenty two magnums. So it's a much lighter gun to
sorry, and it's a lot offun to shoot. I mean, it's
a really loud gun with very littlerecoil um and it's got flide mounted optics,
so it's the only twenty two magnumpistol out there was slide mounted optics
that you know, functions really wellwith a wide ride AMO and it's been
(25:41):
a real winter force. It's justa lot of fun to shoot. My
favorite gun to take to the ring. You got to send a bunch of
those a bunch of those twenty twosdown to the swamp people. It's so
we don't have to watch them fumblearound with that single shot twenty two rifle
that their great grandfather hadn't dropped inthe boat a thousand times. That's cool
replacement. Yeah, that's cool tohave that and have that available. What's
(26:02):
your everyday carry? Typically? SoI carry a PDP full size four and
a half inch, um, youknow. I carry it in a filster
holsters that confeals well, even thoughit is a little bit on the big
side. Um. But yeah,I just feel like having a gun that
(26:22):
shoots better and holds more bullets isbetter to have if I'm going to need
it. Yeah, I'm kind ofback and forth right now because my next
pistol will be a Walter, andI'm back and forth. I started taking
some tactical training and things, andand the guy, you know, I
asked, I asked, the shootinginstructor, you guys, no affiliation,
you guys, whatsoever? I said, I want to change my everyday carry.
What do you think He said,We'll go with the go with the
Walter PDP midsize, And I waslike, well, I don't I don't
(26:45):
know yet, you know, soI said, I know somebody who works
there. I probably talked to himand see what he carries and copy him.
I was just looking at the Yeah, I'm sorry. The other sorry,
no, no, go ahead,I interrupted you. I was gonna
say something stupid, nonrelated. Yeah. The other awesome thing is we have
a full thirty day money back guaranteeon all Walter stuff. So if you
(27:06):
fide a PDP full size and decideyou want a compact or an S series,
just go online, fill out alittle form. We'll send you a
check and a shipping label for upto the value of MSRP. You know,
so if you shoot it and youdon't love it, we'll buy it
back from you. If you gethome and your wife's sash's going to divorce
you, if you don't get thatimmediately, we'll buy it back from you.
(27:29):
So you know, you get thirtydays to shoot it all. You
weren't um with that guarantee, soyou know, it's hard to find a
reason not to try it out.So you can tell me to my my
own business. But what happens tothose guns? So do you guys go
into a resale program or how isthat handled. Yeah, So so they
go through just like a certified car, and they go through a certification process
(27:52):
and get cycled right back through intothe dealer network. That's cool. Not
as new guns certified, right right, Well, I can't tell you how
many how many people do you knowaround it's got a certified pion pre on
car, you know. And ohyeah, and so same thing you guys
are putting them through QC there andrunning through the system. So I'm just
looking at the video that they haveon the website for their I'm just watching
(28:17):
it. I just want to yeahto the video that I'm watching. Yeah,
it's just good looking. That's goodstuff right there. Yeah, well
done on that, and that's youreveryday carry. I'm also reading the uh
Handgun of the Year awards that they'vegotten for this, right gun, and
yeah, all right, I'll buytwo. Yeah. PDPs just in awesome
(28:40):
for us. We launched it inUM twenty twenty one, and um it's
still relatively new. It's our flagshipgun and yeah, I love it more
every day. It's to do allpistol, Yeah, for sure. It
is the f one fifty of pistols. Yeah, it's just the everyman's pistol.
You're just just a hard working manout there trying to make a living.
You're gonna carry that pistol with youeverywhere you go. Yep, I
(29:03):
agree with you. I agree withyou. We got about a minute before
we go here and around next breakgens but um uh Ramon supplished me the
two sign we had to I wastrying to be in, you know,
smooth about it. Yeah. Iuh, I couldn't do this show without
him. I don't know what I'mdoing. I just see, he sticks
a microphone in front of me andsays, here I asked some dumb questions.
Um, now I've lost my trainof thought. Sorry. Uh,
(29:26):
let's see. I already asked you, what's new? What's your pistol?
Chambered in? By the way, maybe that's a stupid question. That's what
I was going to ask him.Okay, so PTP nine millimeter all the
way. I mean, there's noother versions of it, yep, okay,
very good. Correct. I can'tgo wrong with that, No,
not at all. Um Oh,I know what it was I was gonna
ask you. You know, thelast couple of times we have spoken,
(29:48):
uh, you know, we hadpandemic. We had supply as supply to
man product you know, product partsand getting them to you guys. What
is what is that forecast looking likefor the next year as far as availability
of Walter firearm you know, supplychain stuff has really loosened up over the
past call it six months. Sowe're getting good shipping within from Germany now
and we're seeing a good supply. So really, if you want it,
(30:11):
it's it's available now or we'll beavailable very soon. That's good. That's
good to hear because I know Igot asked every day, well I can't
get this m O or I can'tget this gun. I'm like, these
things should be getting resolved right aboutnow, so I wanted to wait and
talk to you today and and uhand figure out where that was. So
I know that Ramote. Now youcan tell your wife that you'll be buying
(30:34):
those two guns and that there willbe no problem getting those orders in for
Christmas folks. Check out the Walterwebsite at Walter arms dot com. We're
speaking to Data Gen's Crow, thevice president marketing Product Development with Walter Arms,
going to take a quick break hereon hunting matters. KPRC nine fifty
c after the break, it's justyour walk in music. Yeah, whenever
(31:25):
you come into the cage to fight, they play Yeah, and then that
little ding sound. Yeah, whatdo you mean that little ding sound that's
your trademark sound, or that littleding sound has paid for this house.
I mean, I'm trying to actuallypull it up. I usually don't pull
it up on this show. Here, here we go, this is free
of church. Every time every timethat bell rings, ramone gets a dollar?
(31:47):
Did I get to parishes with moviesup from? That's just the general
Bond theme or is that that's aYeah, that's a general that's his walk
in music. Nice favorite James Bondmovie. Jen's Oh um, I'm gonna
have to say Tomorrow Never Died.Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah,
(32:08):
yeah, that was with Pierce BrosninRight, I get Yeah. I
gotta give thumbs up to Daniel Craigthough. Oh yeah he was. I
think he's been the best. AndI was a big Sean Connery fan for
a long time. Yeah. Itwas Sean Connery and nobody for me until
Daniel Craig came along and then heruined my hope persono and that knives out
thing he did. Oh yeah, but he was great in it. But
(32:30):
I was like, that's not Jamesand our little boys girl. All right,
folks, back to hunting Matters onKPRC nine fifty. Gen's Crow,
the vice president of marketing and productdevelopment with Walter Arms, is joining us
today and Jen's Um, you guys, you know, I mean, your
website is clean, It's got alot of good information and stuff on it.
(32:52):
But some of the things that Ipicked out I want to talk about
in this final segment. Um.First of all, personal preference, what's
your what's your what's your site preferences? It open reflects our red dot,
so definitely UM enclosed emitter red dotlike endpoint accro or hollow Sun five or
ninet kind of kind of migrated overtowards the enclosed because they stay a lot
(33:19):
cleaner. You don't get that wentdown and don't worry about them getting wet.
UM. So I'm a big fanof being closed emitter red dots.
Do you guys advise clients, Imean, do you get, you know,
feel questions from clients that are lookingfor optics choices? Oh yeah,
all the time. Yeah, absolutely. And there's other thing that's prominent on
(33:40):
your website is the big banner therethat says optic plates. Talk to us
about optic plates, Why, whatare they, why do we need them?
And how can you guys help uswith that? Yeah? Sure,
So when you're mounting a red dotto a pistol um, there's no universal
red dot footprint, So tragicon, loophole, board, tech, hollow,
(34:01):
fun, aim point, they alluse a different way to mount that red
gut. And so if you ifyou get what we call a direct mount
slide, then you're always stuck tohaving that one optic. If you have
like a direct mount RMR footprint slideand you want an in point acro,
(34:22):
it's a huge hassle and you mightnot be able to do it. So
US and a lot of other manufacturersuse red dot mounting plates, and so
some manufacturers then do a couple ofplates out. We do um a redemption
form. So you buy your guy, you go in line, thro out
(34:43):
a quick questionnaire, what's you're done, serial number, which optic you want,
and we nail you a plate andwe use a very high quality steel
point or a machine to womenum plate, depending on which optic you choose,
and so if if consumers had it'sfit to shift every gun out with every
plate, it would end up cussingthe consumer fifty or seventy five dollars more
(35:07):
for the gun. So we doit really for the consumers don't have to
buy every plate and then be stuckwith a drawer full of plates that they're
never going to use. Right, kind of let them choose what they want,
and it also allows us to offera wider variety of plates to the
consumers. So you know, it'smore likely that we have a plate that
(35:30):
fits what you're looking for than beingstuck with two or three that came with
a gun. That just sounds likecommon sense to me. You guys make
it easy, we try. Yeah, two things they've said about that now,
that and the fact that if youdon't like it, right, it's
in the gun. I mean, that's just unheard. It's not publicized.
You don't hear that from many people. Say it's not publicized from hawthor because
(35:52):
obviously we're talking about it. Youjust don't hear those types of offers right
from a lot of you know, people are cranking pistols out and send it
them out, so, um,I don't think anybody else does it.
That's that's very cool. Well, there's there's two more reasons why you need
to buy your author today. Um. You talked about it a little bit
before. Um And I can't helpbut say this in my Dana Carvey,
(36:14):
Hans and Franz voice. But tellus exactly what is the master on your
facto program? So? Mys andManufacturers are our custom shop in Germany.
Um So we import a few mysenateguns that are either highly engraved or highly
polished, have a really cool finishon them, or patriotic engraving. Um.
(36:38):
And there's other options available from themysoshop in Germany, especially on the
Walter competition side. And when Ithink competition, I mean like Olympic style
or collegiate style competition, which isa whole different animal of wild and crazy
guns. Um So that's that's reallyjust the master shops. Anytime, there's
(37:01):
two words that can get me excited, ramon custom shop. Yeah, yeah,
that always gets me excited. Andthen and then I think about yeah,
then I started thinking, hmmm,I want to Now I've been on
the website. I'm sure you're onthere right now. It's they've got some
good looking stuff on there. Imean it's almost too pretty to carry or
just a carrying show, but youdefinitely want to bang it. I'd be
(37:22):
afraid to bang it around. I'mat the accessories part already. Yeah,
I've called in my Father's Day presentand my birthday present already for this purchase.
But it's fine, that's it's allgood. Maybe it's work related.
I think I can write this off. Yeah, there you go. Yeah,
probably none. An account plays oneon TV and he did sleep sleeping
(37:45):
a holiday last night. So takehis advice and ordered that gun. Tell
your wife Joe made me to it. Yeah, he's one that pushed the
order button. I was out,I was in the restroom and something happened.
Maybe did you not like the cucumbers? Yeah, look Joe brings his
cucumbers. I buy a gun.Yeah, I want some fresh to also
next week. Okay, you gotum. So this is something a lot
(38:07):
of people don't think about. Umholsters. There's a thousand different kind of
variations on holsters out there, andyou guys, this is another I'm kind
of blowing your horn there, butyou guys also offer guidance from Walter on
holster selections correct. Yeah, absolutely, So we offer a few that we
sell um that are unique to youknow, PDP or steel frame or PPK.
(38:30):
But we also have a holster finderarticle or campus article. So if
you go on a website and searchlike PDP holsters, for example, you
can be directed to a page thathas links to almost every manufacturer that makes
a holster for the Walter PDP.So it's a really long long website,
(38:52):
long campus article, but we tryto direct you so you can find whatever
you want, because you know,a holster is such a unique thing depending
on body shape right handed, lefthanded, or running a light or running
an out, how do you wantto carry your guns? And we'd love
to be able to provide a holsterfor sale for everybody, but it's just
(39:13):
kind of been possible. Yeah sure, Yeah, I just bring it up
because it's something it's kind of alwaysan afterthought or it tends to be sometimes
an astrotaut unless you're just shooting everysingle week of what kind of holster do
I want? Yea and no slamon academy, But you don't want to
roll into academy, Go this iswhat I got, and you know they're
probably not going to happen, gettingused to wearing this or something. Yeah,
(39:34):
and why do you get a gunlike this with walter? Or why
do you want to spot? Youwant to you know, compromise. You
just go ahead and get the wholeset up like you want. Are you
in the are you a in thewaist band carry guy or outside of the
waist bank carry guy? Yep?So I carry well without doing too much
offended side of um nineties five percentof the time, okay, um,
(39:54):
the other five percent I carry andlike two people get your kit bag.
Yeah like that, So it's onebody but off body. Um, you
know. But I think IVB isjust much faster as it doesn't matter if
you're sitting or standing. You canmove all up and over. You know,
you at the grocery store and dropa you know, you get a
(40:15):
discount can of beans, you cansend over and pick it up. It's
a lot easier. Yeah. I'man outside guy just because I don't have
much room between my gut and mypants, so I go outside. But
you're good. But yeah, okay, do you carry a smaller one in
your in your boot? No?No, I carry full size gun appendix.
(40:37):
And you know it's just something youget used to and you find the
right holster for your body shape. And you know, I've probably been through
twenty five or thirty different holsters formy for my PDP wow, and just
kind of settled in on one.Yeah, that's what you gotta do.
It's like women in purses, man, you can never have too many.
(40:57):
And yeah, yeah, there's noreason why you have twenty pairs of black
shoes. Well, jens Man,thanks once again so much. We we
are out of time here this week, but we'll talk again soon. This
has been Hunting Matters on KPRC ninefifty and we will see you next week. Endless doot
