Martin Pinholt begyndte i efteråret at give sine køer det lovpligtige fodertilsætningsstof Bovaer for at nedbringe køernes udledning af metan, men køerne fik det hurtigt dårligt, spiste mindre og gav mindre mælk, og da flere køer pludseligt kollapsede, stoppede han med at give køerne Bovaer – selvom han skal for at følge loven.
Historier om syge og døde køer har fået Norge til at sætte Bovaer på pause, men hverken EU, Arla eller forskere på Aarhus Universitet har i deres undersøgelser observeret, at Bovaer fører til sygdom hos køerne.
