Mehdi skulle egentlig have læst medicin, og var også startet på sygeplejerskeuddannelsen. Men undervejs var der en film, som kaldte på at blive lavet og måtte derfor skifte kurs.
Filmen ‘Mens vi lever’ blev Mehdis debut som instruktør. Siden har han lavet 5 film og en TV-serie.
Mehdi Avaz lytter til og lader sig lede af sin mavefornemmelse i alt hvad han foretager sig. Dette er også i tilfælde, hvor hele hans verdens omkring ham lyser rødt og er i alarmberedskab. Hans ukuelige tro og tillid til hans mavefornemmelse er hans hemmelige ingrediens på hans hidtil succes og progression.
Mehdi er netop blevet færdig med optagelserne til ‘Børnene i Sølvgade, som er skrevet af Renée Toft Simonsen.
Han løfter også sløret for en fortsættelse af succesen ‘A beautiful life’ med Christoffer i hovedrollen.
