Speaker 7 (02:11):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah. Welcome everybody. We're gonna pump the brakes
right there. But I just had to get a minute
the big boy, you know, big big boy upstairs, because
I know it's my thought and I hope it is yours,
you know, my belief anyway, you know that he's gonna
be able to help us see our way through all
the so crazy mindess that we're dealing with right about now.
You know, all these trials and tribulations and oh man
(02:33):
viruses and their stations and racism and all that other
crazy stuff we've been dealing with for years and years
and years and years and years. Maybe one day he
was gonna wake up. Well, anyway, welcome to the show.
I'm your host, Lamar Patterson, a k A K Diddy,
a k A Cat Daddy, the Elects of Love and
(02:55):
call me any one of those, but uh not that
other word people like to all people. Anyway, Welcome, hump day.
Let me start acting Philly. We have a great show
for you today. One of my old dear friend is
gonna be join us, and I'm gonna see if he's
in the building right now. But I just want to
put it out there. This show is brought to you
(03:16):
by the good people over the world movement, and we
dedicate the show to a lot of artist, producers, entertainment lawyers,
anything or anybody that's gonna help pass on a message
that's gonna encourage and help this thing we call the
music business. And with that being said, today I guess
(03:39):
is mister Nigel George all the way from Las Vegas.
A dynamic person dynamic personality, a very talented young man.
And it's for me to you know, call him friend. Okay,
let me see it's mister, and I had to let
(04:00):
the building. I know he's probably on his private jets
circling the airport right now. I'm gonna see if he's landed,
because we now sunning stars are you know, they don't
want to, you know, be on metro like me.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
I'll cut it off.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
Man. Today I'm doing well and I'm so blessed. Thank
you brother for taking time out to come through and
chop it up with us.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
And oh man, it's an honor.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
Man.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I'm really proud of you. Man, I'm really happy for
all that you're doing. Bro, Thank you so much for
having me oh.
Speaker 7 (04:36):
Man, look, man, look, I'm just trying to be the
best I could do. And remember the old thing that
people used to tell us, you know, each one teach one.
So I'm just trying to give back, man, that people
gave to me before me.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Oh man, you're doing it.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Man.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I saw you on the Jamie Fox thing on Netflix.
I was like, look at my brother doing it. I called,
uh that TV that what's the Jamie Fox will call?
My dad embarrassed me or something?
Speaker 7 (05:06):
Yeah, Dad, stop embarrassing me.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw you on there.
Speaker 8 (05:11):
Man.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
I'm like, you need to get the award for that performance.
Speaker 9 (05:13):
Man.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
You know that's my boy. Yeah, well, thank you trying
to do like man?
Speaker 7 (05:20):
Oh man, you already doing it man, you know, you know,
I just feel like, you know, a lot of us
if we come through the door, you know, we forget
to reach back through the door and help somebody else.
And the old guy he told me, Man, he said,
always leave the ladder down, don't never pull the ladder up.
And I'd asked him, I said.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Well, what do you mean by that?
Speaker 7 (05:42):
He said, just like I said, always leave the ladder down,
don't never pull the ladder up. You know, and he
broke it down to me. Man, you know, always reach
back and help somebody if you can. You can't help
everybody but those you can.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Try to, right. That's so good, man, because so often,
you know, people reach the ultimate goal of success and
they forget everybody from along the way. You know that
that supported them to help them, that that dreamed with them,
you know what I mean. And I've seen that in
my own life and career. You know, people that I've
(06:16):
dreamed with and hope with. Man, we don't make it
one day and they make it and you don't. You
can't even you can't even get a phone call back
after after that, let alone you know them help you.
I just want to tell you congratulations. I'm happy for you.
You know, sometimes you can't even do that, and it's
all there.
Speaker 7 (06:32):
Those so so so very true for those that for
those that just joined us. You know, if you want
to call in and time into the conversation, will more
than welcome the calling numbers three four seven three eight
eight seven four seven. Just press number one on your
phone and let us know uh that you're that and
will that you're joining this conversation. My brother Nigel, you
(06:57):
know in Las Vegas. You know it's from the Caribe
in islands for all you girls and like those guys
with those accents. But you've been singing and creating music
since his early teens, and he's been performed with some
of the great fantastic shows in Las Vegas, es X
at MGM Grand alongside with Neo and a young man.
(07:21):
Is such a very talented artist and performer. And I
said earlier in the show that you know, I'm honored
to consider him a friend and a great talent. And
we're gonna be playing some amusement guys shortly. But Nigel,
I'm gonna open up for you for a minute and
let you tell everybody about you. I like to do
(07:44):
that because you could say it better than me.
Speaker 8 (07:47):
Absolutely well, well, oh, I heard absolutely well.
Speaker 7 (07:56):
But I think he's having difficult he's on his jet there.
You know, the phone communications would be very bad, but
I'm sure he'll be calling back in shortly, my brother.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Can you hear me? Yeah, you're trying to get rid
of me already. Man, what's that that bad?
Speaker 7 (08:22):
It wasn't me. I was waiting for your response and
waiting for you to tell our listeners about your upbringing. Stuff,
and you just went.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Out on me.
Speaker 7 (08:31):
You know, it wasn't mean.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
I feel you well. First of all, man, let me
just say that I was really feeling your intro when
you were talking about, you know, our social issues and
all that we're going through with COVID, and I'm still
really emotional after the you know, George Floyd verdict the
other day, and I'm still really feeling that. So when
you did that intro, it just really hit home. I'm
(08:57):
still walking around with with nots in my stomach over
it as a black man. I know, you got to
know what I'm talking about how I feel. So you know,
I'm hopeful and prayerful that this is changed in the
United States of America for black people, for people of color,
and all of us so that we can all be
truly free.
Speaker 7 (09:16):
So I certainly hope so too, because I'm one of
those little kids and used to have to go to
the movies and sit in the balcony because I wasn't
allowed to sit downstairs. So I definitely feel it in
the whole different.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Way, you know, in my lifetime, right right, Wow, So
this is like really breakthrough for you especially, Yeah, I Hey, look.
Speaker 7 (09:39):
I just hope they ain't trying to fake us out.
Speaker 10 (09:42):
I know, man.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
After the Rodney King, After Rodney King, I was like,
this is it. It has to be the start on
tape and the whole world got to see, you know
that we weren't lying, We're not just complaining. This is real.
So now we're going to have changed. After the riots,
I thought that was it in ninety two, and here
we are in twenty twenty one. You know, all these
(10:04):
years later and stuff is still happening.
Speaker 7 (10:07):
Don't you member back of your history books. When they
was talking about the Romans and the gladiators, he always
had somebody they could sacrifice.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Yeah, yeah, well you know, by God's grace, we're no
longer going to be the sacrificial lambs.
Speaker 7 (10:24):
And oh I'm not talking about I'm not talking I'm
not talking about us.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I'm not talking to them.
Speaker 7 (10:31):
I'm talking about one of them. But go ahead, man,
let's talk about you.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Well, le, let's let's on a positive note. Man, let's
try to pick it up. I didn't come here to
put everybody down. I just wanted to express my heart
because I really felt.
Speaker 10 (10:43):
You on that, you know, but.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
About me, A little bit about me, you know, you said,
I'm from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. That's why
I was born in the Caribbean. I don't have the
accident that you were talking about anymore. I mean it
comes back sometimes if I go back home to Trinidad
and spend enough time, you know, you don't recognize who's
talking to you on the phone. But you know, I
grew up in San Diego. I moved to the United
(11:08):
States as a kid. My dad was in the military,
So I grew up on a Marine Corps base called
Camp Pendleton and San Diego area, And you know, I
think I was actually living on base. The first time
I saw Michael Jackson moonwalk on on I believe it
was Motown twenty five in nineteen eighty three. Ever since
(11:28):
that moment, man, there was my life was all about music.
When Michael did that performance and moonwalked on that stage, man,
it changed my life. It completely changed my life. And
ever since then, I wanted to do music. And so,
you know, in the early nineties, I moved out to
Las Vegas because my manager lived out here. My manager
(11:49):
was a guy by the name of Dino, and you know,
he was an artist himself, had some hit records that
you know, some of them my health work on. And
then after that he went into management and production, was
working with you know, he's producing Robin Fake, he was
producing me. You know, we're all just dreaming of being
stars and being successful. And along the way here in Vegas, man,
(12:10):
I ended up working as some of the biggest production
shows on the strip. You mentioned EFX. I was in
that show, like you said, it featured Neo, also featured
James Earl Jones, David Cassidy, Rest in Peace. He was
the star of that show. And I was actually in
a group called One Spirit with some incredibly talented people
(12:30):
that are legendary in their own rights. Bruce Williamson Jr.
I know you know about Bruce. He ended up becoming
the lead singer of the Temptations, and you know, unfortunately
we lost him due to COVID COVID nineteen a few
months ago. Also Ken Young was in the group, Lucy Shropshire,
(12:51):
Mickey Brown Rest in Peace, Nina Hooks, Shaper Smith, who
is who we all know is Neo now And that
was a really great I'm breaking point in my career.
I said, that was the biggest production show in the world.
You can imagine a Broadway play, a sixty million dollar
Broadway play with explosions and music and special effects. You know,
(13:12):
that's that's what that was. And you know, after that,
I ended up performing in certain bands around Vegas. Just
to sum it up, I performed in Vegas over twenty years.
But I never lost that passion to be a recording artist,
always writing, coming up with new tunes, always in the studio.
And so, man, I left music for a while, you know,
(13:35):
because being a dad was my number one priority, my kids,
and you know how it is in music, Man, it's
peaks of famine, right. You know, when your gig is over,
When your gig is over, your money's over. So, you know,
for the sake of my kids, I ended up becoming
a regular guy with my regular job. And you know,
(13:55):
my my youngest is nineteen. Now. I got three boys, Braxton, Jaylani,
and Donovan, and they're all young adults, young men. I'm
very proud of them. But they're doing their thing, you know.
So here I go again. It's time for me to
do my thing, and I'm coming back into this music game.
And it's where my heart is, where my passion is.
My first love, you know, so in a nutshell, Well,
(14:17):
that's the long story. I gave you the twelve. I
gave you the twelve, and it should have gave you
the forty five. But you know that's that's basically my
story now.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
But you know, let me jump over here. Well, you know,
the topic everybody was there is is R and BE dead.
So with that question, I'm gonna ask you, how do
you feel about the state of music today?
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Well, I have mixed feelings about it. You know that
question is R and B dead. I feel like, you know,
it's on life support. It's not quite dead yet, and
hopefully it won't be. Hopefully we can do something about it.
You know, I think it's it's in critical condition because
I guess for the past fifteen years or so, just
(15:03):
hip hop has just been dominating everything. You know, it's
been dominating, and you know, the record industry has enabled
that to happen because music people like you and I
are not the ones running the music business. It's run
by numbers people. It's not run by music people like
(15:23):
you know, Barry Gordy and all this cat back in
the day, who were focused on artist development and creating stars,
making legends. You know, because of guys like him. You
have the Temptations, you had the Jackson five, you got Michael,
you know, Prince. I mean, the way things are right now,
You'll never see another Michael Jackson. You'll never see another Prince.
(15:46):
You never see you know, the Beatles, because it's not
about the music, it's not about the talent. It's about
who is the latest guy trending on on TikTok or whatever.
You know, it's whoever can create that viral effect. And
these hip hop kids, man, I gotta give it to them,
they've mastered that. It started with with Soldier Boy, like
(16:12):
about fifteen years ago, twelve years ago, however long it was,
he had this one hit.
Speaker 7 (16:16):
I think I think it started with the whole sampling thing,
because before sampling was allowed, and they even knew about sampling.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Had you had to be a musician, and.
Speaker 7 (16:29):
Musicians musicians come from the family, teaching the kids or
us being able to get an instrument or instrument or
band or harmony classes and eleventor at a young age. Correct.
I agree.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
A lot of these producers don't know how to create music.
They know how they call it making beats now because
they're taking music out of the schools. You know, kids
don't know how to play, they don't know how to
create melody, and so that stuff is taking over. But
to my point, with what Soldier Board did, he was
able to manipulate the internet with his little with his
(17:07):
demo and create a viral effect that ended up getting
the attention of every record company because they're chasing the
latest craze. Well after him, you had a whole bunch
after that. You know, all these kids with the hip
hop songs. I listened to some of these songs on
the radio, man, I'm like, it sounds like a kid
did this. You could freaking it sound like you recorded
in the bathroom. You can hear the walls. And I
(17:29):
don't know. I know, music fans don't care about that stuff,
but people like you and I do. You know, we're
listening to the find the quality of the song. But
that's where we are now, you know, that's where we're
at with this record industry. It's not about music. It's
about numbers right down, you know.
Speaker 7 (17:45):
Right exactly. Hey, with that being said, Nigel, you know,
I don't want to keep our listeners wearing their throats
and looking their lips and thes and stuff, trying to
figure out you know when we don't play some Nigel George.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
So we will show winding about the industry.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
Oh ladies and gentlemen, We're gonna wind some more because
we want us to do better than we did, like
you know, like good daddies and granddaddies and stuff. So
everybody do better. That's the whole purpose of this show.
So what songs should we play first night?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Let's say, well, shoot, let's start with the up tempo man.
Let's get things up beat, kick them off with some
of that love for Las Vegas. Uh, Nigel George featuring
my little brother by the way moose.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
All right, everybody, we're gonna roll with love for Las Vegas.
Don't go nowhere, Let the windows down, turn the add
conditioning up, and put your hair on this.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Yeah, we're.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
White night, George.
Speaker 10 (19:10):

with poor wins now.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
So we signing something ruin everywhere.
Speaker 11 (19:19):

Speaker 3 (19:30):
Come that on the strip.
Speaker 11 (19:31):
Let your kids away and not at others.
Speaker 10 (19:35):

And that was love for Las Vegas.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Now, this is definitely my way of giving back to
the city of Las Vegas. Man. It's been a blessing.
A lot of dreams have come true here. I raised
my family here and this is my city, man, So
I had to give it up. You know. I heard
a lot of other artists, uh, singing and rapping about
their cities. I'm like, wait, I live in one of
the if not the most than the cities in the world. Man,
(24:01):
let me give it up to my town, you know,
let everybody know. So that's how I came up with
that joint.
Speaker 7 (24:07):
Hey, well listen, I do you know what man. You know,
somebody just passed me a note and I'm a snitch
and they said the day a special day for you,

they should send them to my office. You know what

who the hell is K Diddy? I didn't know you
were the same people. Yeah, well you know, mama name
of Lamont, I'm calling la Mont.
Speaker 7 (25:07):
Yeah, that's right, that's right. You know, sometimes sometimes sometimes
it's good to be somebody else, Nigel. You know, you
can be that other person and you could really consider
your thoughts a different way. You know. Sometimes you got
to step out of yourself and look back at a situation.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
Yeah, I feel you on that. Yeah, definitely. Man, you
gotta come up with a little alter ego.
Speaker 7 (25:29):
Oh hey, look, if not, you end up seeing the
same situation the same way, and that's not healthy. You
gotta get different views, you know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Right right, I'm thinking that I'm thinking of doing that myself.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
Oh yeah, man, I got it.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
I got some songs that Nigel George would never sing,
if I become, if I become somebody else, heyrue.
Speaker 7 (25:59):
Hey, let's go the other person. Gonn tell you the truth,
because you might not tell yourself the truth.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
Yeah, man, true, absolutely.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
Oh that's crazy. But that is so so so real, man,
so real, so man, I gotta have a question, bro glead.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
It just dawned on me that last time I saw you,
we did a show in Vegas. You were my manager.
You have to be my manager. We did the show.
You like, I'm taking twenty percent of all your stuff, Like, okay, cool,
let's do it. We did the show. I get you,
you got twenty What happened? I ain't see you for
(26:37):
ten years till last.
Speaker 6 (26:38):
Week you.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
Say what happened? Hey, look, man, I guess I did.
I guess back then I did you a favor.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Yeah, you probably did choose.
Speaker 7 (26:54):
Because everything everything was crazy at that point, God bless me. Hey,
look everything man, at that point I was going through
you know, the show was going yes, sir, Hey, look
the show was going through some stuff, and you was
going through some stuff, and we all was going through
some stuff. Man. Okay, but thank thank god, it always
(27:17):
make a way. You know, he may not come here.
We are what we call but he was always right
on time. And and here we are bro bigger, bigger,
bigger and better than we were before.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
And man, it was so good talking to you the
other day. We must have talked for two hours on
the phone. Man, we should have recorded that. That would
have been the show. Man. We laughed so much, that
would have been the show.
Speaker 13 (27:42):
I know.
Speaker 7 (27:42):
Man, people would have been like, like, what do these
cats talked about?
Speaker 4 (27:46):
It?
Speaker 7 (27:46):
He's supposed to be talking about the music industry, but
it was all about the music industry.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
Though a lot of it was but you know, we
talked about well, I'm not gonna fair, but it was
a fun conversation. Man. It was good to you know,
chop it up with you and laugh for two hours.
I needed.
Speaker 7 (28:03):
That made me say, well, anybody that they don't have
some type of drama had went through some type of
craziness in their life at one point another. They are
not keeping it, you know, they're not being honest with
themselves and they really know to go talk to that
man in the mirror, you know.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Yes, sir, that's what I do. So Nigel, I'm not
definitely ask you.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
I'm not gonna even ask you who were your musical influences,
because I already have a good idea.
Speaker 4 (28:32):
Yeah, you can hear it. You can hear in the
vocals talking Michael Jackson. Of course, I already said that
new edition, Babyface, Bob Marley, my Uncle Cox, Paul Recuees,
and so many others.
Speaker 14 (28:50):
Man.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
You can definitely hear their influences in my in my
vocal style, my my songwriting, and even my performances. So
it's a lot of people contributed, and you stirred out
all together and mix it with some Nigel George. It
turned out to be something pretty cool, something pretty special,
you know, right.
Speaker 7 (29:09):
So what song? What song should we hit him with?
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Nick? You know, let's hit him with some flesh in
my Flesh. This song I wrote and produced with a
guy out of lave Vegas you may know, named Keith Nelson.
Keith Nelson's worked with the likes of Shaka Khan, He's
worked with us here, He's he's worked with Babyface, He's
worked with a lot of people. And we came up
(29:34):
with this song because we're also also brothers in christ
you know, and so it's like we need to write
a little sexy song for the ladies. But let's do
it the way that God would have us do it.
So we went back to the Bible. Man, I'm talking
Genesis too, okay, and you'll here definitely hear that in
the lyrics. We just wrote a love making song with
(29:55):
a biblical scripture foundation. And that's flesh of my flesh.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
That's interesting, alrighty man, everybody you know the drill. Let
the window's down till they're acting bitching up and put
your ears on this. It's mister Nigel George and the
flesh of my.
Speaker 14 (30:10):
Flesh trying to hide a wag and fear your body thumb.
Speaker 15 (30:28):
I'm about to sure bet I loved you, let your
gass away, cause I'm gonna make me shout.
Speaker 14 (30:37):
Shout yes.
Speaker 10 (30:42):
What you want to do?
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Do?
Speaker 9 (30:45):
Tell me what along I'll do what hell? But you
want to because he said I knew spare me loving wrong?
Speaker 1 (30:58):
No, when we may love.
Speaker 10 (31:03):
So blessed and so people.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
All thissital made up me, I'll dream my cup and left.
Speaker 16 (31:15):
He look, Oh yeah, woman, you are blessing mumbles lone
of marble.
Speaker 3 (31:26):

Speaker 15 (31:36):

Speaker 4 (32:03):

Speaker 5 (32:06):

Speaker 4 (32:06):
I was saying it just for you so I could
had it albo. I just wanted to please.
Speaker 5 (32:14):
See use.
Speaker 10 (32:19):
Whenever you want me because I'm wedded.
Speaker 13 (32:21):
When all I want to man life is you win

Speaker 10 (32:26):
You're man, just for me. Whenever you need, baby, come giddy.
Speaker 6 (32:31):

Speaker 3 (32:34):

Speaker 6 (32:49):

Speaker 10 (33:29):

Speaker 15 (34:44):

Speaker 10 (34:55):

Speaker 7 (35:01):
Okay you girl, Miss Dramaganza.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Check, Dick Gloss check, Matt Garrett Chick, I am endy
with the homie ka ditty check.
Speaker 10 (35:09):
Check you listening to blog Talk radio, baby, and I love.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
You for it.
Speaker 7 (35:15):
Yeah, we're back with mister Nias and George and that
was earned blessed my flesh. Yeah, I definitely liked your
lyrics man, and the production was nice.
Speaker 4 (35:28):
Thank you, my brother. I mean, it's a lot as
a matter of fact. As a matter of fact, let
me just mention that that song won a lot of accolades.
It's that it kind of fell through the cracks, but
you know, it's critically acclaimed by Babyface himself. David Foster
also one of the John Lennon Song Singer Songwriter competition
(35:51):
with that. So that was a really special song that
you know, didn't do what it was supposed to have done.
And so I'm back at it again and just like
told me, big brother, it's brand new to everybody that
hasn't heard it, you know, so I'm I'm about to
push that again.
Speaker 7 (36:06):
Yeah, definitely reminded me a lot of Summer Face's work
right there.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Yeah, right, I wonder he liked it. Man. When I
was a kid, man Face was supposed to sign me
Man him and his wife Tracy Edmonds. At the time,
they were having meetings with my manager.
Speaker 7 (36:26):
And what met everybody let me at that time, what me? Everybody?
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Yeah, yeah, it was actually Dino Man, but Dino Esposito
and it just didn't work out. Man, So check this out.
Many years later, I'm working at Manly Bay. I'm a bellman.
Right now, I see his face right, He's with his
new wife's man, and I'm like, I'm a little embarrassed.
Speaker 13 (36:49):
You know.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
It's like, man, obvious the record thing didn't work out.
I'm hear in his bellman uniform. I'm about one hundred
pounds bigger than when he left on me, right, I like,
stew it, I'm gonna approach him. And I approached him.
I like, face, what's up? And he remembered me and
it was all hugs. He gave me a hug and
he was like, man, call me in my room. Man.
He gave me his secret name at the hotel, and
(37:10):
I'm like, okay, I'm gonna hit you up. I'm like, oh, shoot, Face,
don't bring don't bring a brother up right, you know.
And so I called his room. I called and called,
I got no answer. I had room service bring a
special gift form, gift bouquet, and you know, the whole
deal gave my new number. And to this to this day, man,
I still never heard from Face. But check it out though.
(37:34):
That's that was so good for me, bro, because one
thing that I am completely devoted to is being self
sufficient right now, you know, at almost every aspect of life,
I just don't like relying on people or hoping for
people give me an opportunity. And always tell my kids
that I'm like, don't sit around and way for someone
to hand you an opportunity. You create your own opportunities,
(37:56):
you know. So being rejected by so many big people
like Face, having so many close calls where things almost
freaking exploded, that's what That's what it did to me.
It made me it just you know, got that entrepreneur
spirit in me to make me just d I y
you know, make me want to do it.
Speaker 7 (38:14):
Man, you just you just answered. You just answered a
big question for me, man, because I never could figure
out why did I quit this business every day and
start back the next day every day? But you just
made it clear to me, is why, you know, because
basically you need to be self sufficient in all areas.
(38:35):
You know, people people have a tendency to want you
to slow slow your train now, but they don't want
to jump on your train or help your train even
move a little better.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
Faster and smoother, you know, right after you already got
that moving it.
Speaker 10 (38:52):
Oh.
Speaker 7 (38:53):
Absolutely, that's the only way we recognize you is because
you've run something. You know, they don't care if you
ain't nothing.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
Yeah, absolutely, that that is so cool.
Speaker 7 (39:06):
So I know you named some of your musical influences,
and I think you touched on MJ earlier in the
conversation and talk a little bit about how he impacted
I know you said you first saw him when he
did his whole moonwalking and thing.
Speaker 11 (39:24):
But you know what, I I.
Speaker 7 (39:28):
Don't know. I guess coming from an era where you know,
we had to learn how to read music, play music,
you know, I guess have a different thing. You know,
and a lot of people consider artists complete artists today,
But for me, you know, the artists that we knew
you could give them a milk crate and they could
(39:49):
get on it and do their thing, you know, they
wouldn't have to be produced in studios where they could pause,
back up the track or do all the different you know,
technical things they can do in the studio. You know,
we used to have to come with it. So I
know it's very few artists out there that that actually
complete artists in terms of you know, the performance, performing, writing, uh,
(40:15):
you know, just the whole nine, you know what I mean,
you know, and you mentioned so earlier in the conversation,
and those guys are so special, and I just hate
moving forward because of society, the way they took you know,
music out of schools and stuff.
Speaker 4 (40:29):
They not turning out.
Speaker 7 (40:31):
People like that anymore. And so I'm seen good entertainers, man,
but I don't see them being totally rounded. Just say complete,
complete like.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
That, right, And I'm glad you said that, man, because
I started on stage as a teenager. Before I stepped
foot in the studio, I was on stage in front
of people, you know, doing my things. And so by
the time I got into the studio, man, I was
I was already a So I had to learn to
be a recording artist because now people don't know there's
(41:04):
a difference, you know what I mean. You got people
that are performers, but you get in the studio, they're
not recording artists. And you have and vice versa. You
got people that are recording artists. They can stag vocals
all day, but when they get on stage, they can't.
They can't translate that on stage, you know what I mean,
And so it takes work at both. You know, from
(41:25):
a vocalist standpoint, I know, now they got the kids
got auto tune where they can have a fake vocals now.
But but you know what I mean, I'm talking about
real artists with real vocals recording in the studio. So yeah,
I completely agree. Man, we really need to get back
to artists being completely well rounded and complete artists. I'm
with that one hundred percent, and that's that's what I
(41:46):
aim to do, you know. But to answer your question
about Michael Jackson, though, look, before seeing Michael moonwalk on
Motown twenty five, I mean, everybody knew who Michael was
from the Jackson and then he had Off the Wall
and the Jackson's, everybody knew him. He was a regular star.
But that night on Motown twenty five, when he displayed
(42:11):
the glove, the socks, the way he was dancing he
didn't really dance like that before. It's like he created
his own style and displayed it that night and took
the world by storm. He went from being a regular
star to a megastar that night. And I know I
wasn't the only one. You can tell by you know,
(42:32):
when you listen to people like Usher and Neo and
Chris Brown, and you know, genuine these guys are also
influenced by Michael Jackson. He definitely left his mark here
on this earth, you know, And so when he passed away, man,
it was it was devastating.
Speaker 13 (42:50):
You know.
Speaker 4 (42:50):
I was on the radio back then, you remember, back
when I was doing that little that radio show here
in Vegas, and I devoted that whole show to him.
Speaker 13 (42:58):
Man.
Speaker 4 (42:59):
I was playing his music, I was playing other artists
that distributes to him, and and I had Michael Jackson
impersonators on the show. And you know, as an artist,
I just started, you know, expressing my feelings through song
and melody. And I kind of just started playing with
this melody for Michael. You know, I just started Michael,
(43:24):
you are we don't deserve And I must have just
been every time I think of Michael, I must have
just sang that for about five years. And so all
of a sudden, my guy, Keith Nelson, who I sang
that melody to, you know, we were talking about Michael.
He is on tour. Keith plays bass by profession, his trade.
(43:47):
He's on tour with this guy named Morris Pleasure. I
think they're playing with Bette Miller or somebody like that
overseas and more. Pleasure was Michael Jackson's keyboard player. And
he was telling Keith, you know, hey, man, I'm on
this tribute album. I got twenty one artist from all
over the world that submitted their songs. I'm gonna have
sotony put it out and it's gonna be incredible. And
(44:08):
Keep's like, oh, my guy, Nigel has a Michael Jackson song,
which I really didn't. All I had was that freaking
melody I was singing for five years. And so he
was like, yeah, send it to me, man, we're gonna
put it out. And so Keith was like, Hey, that
Michael Jackson song.
Speaker 10 (44:24):
We need that.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
I'm like, what do you mean. He's like, I'm with
the guy that was with Michael and he's putting out
an album and we need your song. I'm like, well,
I ain't got a song. I only got that melody. Well,
well we need a song, so let's get to work.
And so we got to work on the song and
it turned out incredible. He turned it in and long
story short, it turned out to be the best song
on the album. They were excited. They were calling people
(44:47):
to do the video and you know all of that
stuff that is gonna be the first single next thing.
You know, man, you know, these weird things happened in
the industry. They went silent. No one's answering phone calls.
I got all these people that are coming to me,
like when are we getting to work on this thing.
I'm like, you know what, man, here we go again,
me waiting on other people. I said, We're gonna do this.
(45:08):
We're gonna do this, and I'm gonna pay for it.
Forget them, my man. I was flying directors and producers
in the town. I rented the cameras for the video
in La out of La, and I got a crew
of people together and we did a really special video
directed by Brent Brent Craig and Bobby Huntley. My good
(45:30):
friend rest in Peace. Lane Lassiter was Michael Jackson, impersonator
that a lot of people think it's really Michael in
the video, but it's lame. Okay, So all the people
out there saying Michael is really alive and using my video,
it's not. It's Lane Lastater. He was an incredible Michael
Jackson impersonator. And so I don't know if you want
to segue into the song man, but it's called mju
are loved. I sent you the video. Did you check
(45:52):
it out? Yes?
Speaker 7 (45:53):
I did?
Speaker 4 (45:53):
Actually, yeah, I'd like very good.
Speaker 7 (45:56):
So you know everybody else can go check it out,
you know, so, uh, it's available for.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
Him, absolutely correct. Yeah, that's right. Look up, Nigel, George,
m j you are loved.
Speaker 7 (46:10):
All right, body, we put, we gonna put. Let y'all
put your ears on this, and you know what I
gotta say, So you know if you do it now,
I don't have to say it, but I'm gonna say
it anyway. Let your windows down, turn the air conditional
it up, and put your ears on this. You are
love and you are loved by mister Nigel George.
Speaker 6 (46:40):
Michael see the best there for us. There'll never be
another like you.
Speaker 1 (46:59):

Speaker 17 (47:02):
A genus could not see this nook the way at

Speaker 3 (47:10):

Speaker 11 (47:15):
And we forgot that you were just a man.
Speaker 10 (47:19):
We allogize for revery fear you cried.
Speaker 14 (47:23):
You were such a inspiration to the world.
Speaker 6 (47:31):

Speaker 5 (47:38):
That's why you bold walk down.
Speaker 13 (47:41):

Speaker 4 (51:02):

Speaker 7 (51:02):
Just when everybody get it and clap their.
Speaker 8 (51:04):
Hands right there, thanks man, Yeah, that was great. That
was great man, Thank you brother.
Speaker 4 (51:17):
Man.
Speaker 7 (51:18):
You're just bubbling with talent over that, Nigel. So what's
what's in store? What's next for you, buddy?
Speaker 4 (51:24):
Well man? You know then my kids are older now, man.
You know, like I said before, I sacrificed a lot
of my dreams. And you know, when you have kids, man,
they become the priority. Every parent knows that or should
know that. And so you know, my kids are older now,
they're all doing their thing man, and for the first
(51:44):
time in my whole life, Nigel George is my priority,
you know what I mean. So I'm looking at all
the things that I've dreamt of doing. I'm going for
you know, I wanted to work in real estate. I'm
going for that. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur.
Know I'm doing that. I took marketing courses to learn
how to market my businesses, including my music, and so
(52:10):
you know, I'm I'm looking into film, trying to do
a music a movie, musical movie with my kids, kind
of a family project. I'm just a lot of things
on the table man that I'm you know, kind of
putting away my pennies for so that we can get
to work on it, you know, right, so you know
(52:30):
what music in my future ahead.
Speaker 7 (52:34):
I think that's a great opening for this next song
of yours, brand new Man, because I definitely want to
get okay. So sounds like a great intro for that
song right there.
Speaker 4 (52:45):
You know that's right. I'm a brand new man. Baby.
Speaker 7 (52:48):
Yeah, that's what time it is, everybody, that's what it is.
Niger George, Niger George. You know his name, you know,
look him up if you don't know it, and this
is brand new man. And then everybody know if you
heard it right here. So let the windows down and
turn to add condition up and put your ears on it.
I know it sounds silly, but I like it.
Speaker 6 (53:13):
Hey, baby, I know you're tired.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
You've been so much.
Speaker 10 (53:27):
I know what you missed. The girl, someone who can
liss girls, someone who respects you. I meant to protect you.
Speaker 11 (53:37):
Come Hong Kong, be she.
Speaker 10 (53:41):
Forget. I'll be the guys. You need a change in
your life.
Speaker 19 (53:48):
You're telling you Morgle support you gussie.
Speaker 3 (53:55):
Who you respect and taper.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
That's how it's.
Speaker 18 (53:59):
Gotta be, should be getting from a love soul truth.
