Speaker 4 (01:11):
Hi, it's Jody and I have a personal message that
I would like to share with you. Have you ever
had something so impressed upon your heart a matter that
you knew you needed to decide upon, but you wasn't
quite sure how to proceed. Well, what did you do?
Did you go and call your mate for suggestion, asking
(01:34):
them what should I do? Or a parent or a
friend asking them what should I do? What would you do? Well?
I was talking to the Lord about such a situation
that had arisen. I wanted to know, you know, what
should I do? How should I respond? And what I
was told was so amazing that not only did I
(01:54):
share it with who I needed to, but I knew
that this was going to be my second podcast because
this their message I was really looking forward to sharing
with you. Also, Now no doubt you saw the title
of this message, Trust the voice of the Lord spoken
to your heart. And that's it, right in a nutshell.
(02:16):
We so often put the voice of another a marriage made,
a parent, a trusted friend, a leader, over the voice
of the Lord that is spoken directly to our heart.
And we really don't need to do that. Now. I
don't think that we do it intentionally. I think for
many we just simply don't realize that what we're hearing
(02:39):
in our thoughts is the voice of the Father spoken
to us. And you can pretty much tell that when
you hear people say stuff like something told me or
I had this feeling. And that's because many are simply
not taught how to hear from the Lord. So we
don't always know, especially when we're hearing something but we
(03:01):
can't see who's speaking, or when what we hear sounds
like our own voice. So I was giving a couple
examples to share with you to show you this very thing.
One was in reference to hearing the voice from the Lord,
and the other was in reference to trusting the voice
(03:21):
of the Lord that is spoken to your own heart.
So go do the first one first, which is hearing
the voice of the Lord. This is an account of
a young man who had never heard the voice of
the Lord. He didn't even know the Lord. He was
simply serving. He was a young boy. He was serving
under a high priest, and he heard a voice calling
(03:44):
his name, and so he got up to go as
the person that he was serving under that he was
working with, you know, did you call me? And they
was like, no, you know, I didn't call you. Go
back to bed. So anyway, by now you know, if
you don't know the story, is the story of Samuel,
Young Samuel. But if you do know the story, you
know that it's found in First Samuel. Chapter three is
(04:07):
verses one through twenty one. And yes, Samuel, he was
a young boy, and he was ministering before the Lord
under Eli, and he was ministering during a time where
the voice of the Lord had become very rare, as
well as visions, there was practically none. God was really
(04:28):
upset with the Israelites back then, and so they were
getting a silent treatment for real. So on this particular day,
Samuel or evening, Samuel, he was sleeping and he heard
his voice called Samuel, Samuel, and so he ran, you know,
and he ran to Eli. He was like, you call me,
and Eli was like, no, you know, go back to bed.
(04:49):
And this happened three times now. And reading this account,
what stood out to me was verse number seven. And
here is why it says, now Samuel did not yet
know the Lord. The word of the Lord had not
yet been revealed to him. Those are two different things.
(05:09):
He didn't know the Lord and the Word had not
yet been revealed. So listen, don't think that you need
to be active in the church holding down a position
wearing any type of mantles of titles, because that was
not the case for Samuel when he heard the voice
of the Lord. He was a boy. Also, don't think
that you need to be of a certain age either,
(05:32):
because again he was a boy. Samuel was a boy.
So Psalm chapter eight, verse two, lets us know, you know,
even out of the Malca babes, God will call for
the praise. So age is nothing but a number. Not
only did Samuel not yet know the Lord, but also
the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed
to him yet, and that had nothing to do with
(05:57):
God reaching out and calling Samuel himself when he did Eli.
How Eli's response that also stood out to me. Eli
realized that this was happening, and when he did, he
did not try to be the voice of the Lord
(06:19):
for Samuel. He didn't try to say to Samuel, you
know what this is what it means, and he didn't
do any of that. What he said instead, so Samuel
was this, and it's seen in verse nine of First
Samuel chapter three. Eli says, go and lie down, and
if he calls you say speak Lord. Your servant is listening.
(06:41):
So that stands out to me that Eli taught Samuel
how to hear speak Lord, your servant is listening, And
sure enough, the Lord spoke to Samuel a boy. I
want to emphasize this, He spoke to a boy. But
what he spoke to Samuel was what I would call
(07:03):
a difficult message. It was a message that was a
judgment against the very man and family that this young
boy was serving under. So it was a hard message,
but it had to be spoken. And so with this
here again I noticed Eli's response. Eli helped Samuel to
(07:27):
speak the message by saying to Samuel, as found in
verse seventeen, what was it that he said? Do not
hide it from me? May God deal with you be
it ever so severely if you hide from me anything
that he told you. And then after Samuel spoke it,
you know, Eli received it because he knew this was
(07:48):
a word from the Lord. You can't deny it, you know,
whether it was something that you want to hear or not.
So many times when we hear things, when we hear
messages on wantings from the Lord, because this a difficult message,
we tend to want to keep it to ourselves instead
of delivering it. And that is a response of fear
(08:09):
being afraid of the reactions of the people. And that's
something else that we don't need to do. We need
to trust the voice of the Lord spoken to our heart,
and we need to speak whatever it is that God
tells us. And here's the reason why it could save
the life. I'm gonna say that again. We need to
(08:32):
trust the voice of the Lord spoken to our heart,
and even when it's a hard message, we need to
speak that voice of the reason why is it could
save a life. And that takes me to the second
example that I wanted to share with you about hearing
the voice of the Lord, trusting the voice of the
Lord speaking to your heart. That example is found in
(08:56):
Samuel chapter twenty five. There By this time Samuel has
died and we now see young David. David is not
yet king. He's he's old enough to be married because
he had a wife. King SAAL's daughter was his wife,
so he was old enough. But at this point he
(09:21):
was a young man. He was not king yet. So
in running from saul Uh he ended up in this area.
It was a desert in the area called may On
or my Aunt or something like that. So Uh in
this area there was this guy that was really really
(09:41):
rich that lived there, and his name was Mabel, and
Nabel he was married to this really beautiful and intelligent
lady named Abigail. But as far as Nabel, he was
known for being mean and sarah in everything that he did. Now,
(10:02):
usually when I'm talking about him, or I'm talking about
anything to do with like domestic violence and how you know,
dealing with situations like that, I usually use him as
an example, because scripture say he was mean necessarily in
everything he did. Anyway, to make a long story short,
David and his men had extended some kindnesses to Nabel's men,
(10:27):
and so David had requested since his men and requested
for some food and neighbor. When he heard, he was like,
I'm not giving y'all nothing. I don't know where you
came from, YadA, YadA, I'm not giving y'all nothing. And
so the men were sent back, and when David heard
about it, he was getting ready to tell his men,
you know, come on, grab your swords, we got to
(10:47):
go kill all of them, kill all of them. Abigail
in turn heard about what had happened. Now, Nabel, we
know how we're taught whoremen. We're taught you know, the
men head of the household, right, she heard what happened,
but she trusted the voice of the Lord spoken to
her heart. So she actually went against what her husband said.
(11:11):
And she hurried up to fix some food, and she
took the food out to David, and she apologized for
her husband, and you know, gave David the food. And
so David, of course hears. Now when Abigail gets back
home after this, Neigbel was drunk. He had like a
whole kings spread of food and stuff before him, and
(11:33):
he was drunk. So Abigail waited till the next morning
to talk to him and explain to him what happened.
And so when she did, when she told him the
next morning, the scripture says that he had like a
heart attack, you know, and ten days later he died.
And the result was that Abigail ended up becoming David's wife.
(11:56):
So because she listened to the spoken to her heart,
in spite of the behavior of her husband, she actually
spared the life of herself and her family, include Nabel,
because for real, for real, Davia could have went and
killed Nabel and all that, but he didn't because of
(12:18):
her Sonabel, his attitude and his behavior. God himself took
care of Nabel. Now I want to give you a
third because you know how the math of two or
three witnesses. So I don't want to leave it with
Abigail or doing something against what her husband said, because
vice versa. You know, the wife can't say to do
(12:40):
something that would be wrong also, and that is the
case with Job. We know what happened with Job. We
know about how Satan attacked and killed his family, his children,
and destroyed all his businesses. And we know that Joe
still maintains his integrity, and we know that Satan attacked
the second at time and attack Job's health. Well, Job's
(13:03):
wife comes out and says to him, you know, are
you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die And
Job rebuilt her for that, and he didn't. He again,
he maintained his integrity to the end and he was restored.
But at the end of the day, it's about trusting
the voice of the Lord spoken to your heart, not
(13:27):
necessarily following what somebody else say, but what is God
saying to you? And so I want to encourage you
to listen like like like talk to God, pray to God, listen,
find out what he's saying to you. And when you
hear him speaking to you, when you you're feeling your
(13:49):
heart so impressed upon to do this or do that,
you know you're constantly here, pay attention. Do like Samuel,
did you know speak Lord, your servant is listening. Pay
attention and trust what he said, and don't question it.
Don't go back and ask somebody else, well, what do
you think should I do? You know? Because King Jesus said,
if anyone who loves his father, mother, some daughter, sister, brother, wife,
(14:15):
you know children, you love them more than me. If
you love even your own life more than me, he says,
you're not worthy of me. That's Matthew chapter ten, verse
thirty seven. So we need to not put anyone or
anything above the voice of the Lord spoken to us.
(14:38):
If you don't think you've ever heard the voice of
the Lord spoken to you, and you probably haven't, just
didn't realize what you want to hear me. I want
to encourage you to go back and look at that
account with Samuel, and that was in First Samuel chapter three.
Go back and read that and check it out, and
just read some of the other stories in the Bible,
(14:59):
that's in the Old Testament of different ones who has
hit into actions with our heavenly Father, and see what
that was like for them. And then listen, because God
is always talking. He's always talking, He's always calling for us.
All Right, I gotta go. Trust the voice of the
law spoke into your heart. Trust the voice of the
(15:23):
lawyer spoke into your heart. Trust the voice of the
lowis spoke into your heart. Right Bye.
