L' articolo 3 del Catechismo della Chiesa Cattolica numero 1013 recita:
"La morte è la fine del pellegrinaggio terreno dell’uomo, è la fine del tempo della grazia e della misericordia che Dio gli offre per realizzare la sua vita terrena secondo il disegno divino e per decidere il suo destino ultimo. Quando è «finito l’unico corso della nostra vita terrena», noi non ritorneremo più a vivere altre vite terrene. «È stabilito per gli uomini che muoiano una sola volta». Non c’è reincarnazione » dopo la morte.
