Speaker 1 (00:00):
And nine Ignition six five four three two one zero,
All engine running.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
It's Tuesday. You know what that means. It's time for
Agnition with the AAW fanhob podcast team. This is Kelson.
We've got a lot to talk about tonight. We're gonna
talk about what's going on in the Continental Classic, and
of course we've got to talk about the AAW Women's
World Tag Team Tournament. Who do we think is gonna win?

(00:43):
Babes A Wrath, Timeless Love Bombs, to give some opinions
about the uh, what's going on with the Warner Brothers
Discovery takeover, And of course at the end of the show,
we're gonna do our popea resection, which is always fun.
But we are going to start the show with the

(01:04):
AEW Fat Hub AEW Awards. We've done this, this is
our third year doing it. It's always a lot of fun.
What we're gonna do here is we're gonna take nominations
from the crew here and if you're in Chat or
if you're on Twitter or one of our other social media's,
you can leave your nominations there. Here's the deal. In

(01:28):
each category, you can only nominate one wrestler, one wrestler only.
Do not come up with more than one because it's
just you know, you don't want to name the entire roster.
Let's do one at a time. So let's get started.

(01:48):
We're gonna start with the Men's Wrestler of the Year,
and with this at all the other categories. I do
want to caution everybody on the panel and also anybody
that's going to be voting online or in chat, try
to avoid two things. Try to avoid recency bias. You know,

(02:10):
just because Samoa Joe is the aw Men's World Champion
doesn't mean that he's the Men's Wrestler of the Year.
Somebody else may have been more deserving of it, is
what I'm saying. We're not going by here and now,
we're going by the entire year of twenty twenty five.

(02:30):
That's basically. And also the second thing is keep in
mind that some wrestlers, even though they may be your favorites,
some of them may have not either been wrestling that much,
or they've been because of injuries and whatnot and have
missed most of the year. Is a good example of
that would be I don't know, a good example that

(02:52):
would be MJF. Really I mean, not that he was injured,
but he's been filming, you know, all of these movies
and stuff like that, so you know, keep that into consideration.
All right, So let's get started. We're gonna start with
the a W Men's Wrestler of the Year. Let's hear

(03:15):
your single nominations. Let's go to eb K first.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
I'm gonna I'm gonna say Kyle Fletcher. He's done a lot,
he's he's got titles and everything, and he's definitely step
up his game.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Okay, let's go to Homsore.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Since I'm sure somebody is gonna pick the big guy,
I'm gonna go a little deeper cut and actually pick
Kazuko Kata. Since the weather's warmed up, he has been
on fire since about April or so. I think this
is kind of the year he's shown that he's a
solid investment for ADEW.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Now I'm interested. After we get through all the h nominations,
I'm gonna come back to you ham Soure and ask
you was the big guy picked. Don't say who the
big guy is but now, but I want to make
sure that the big guy was picked. Barry. Let's go
to you.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Uh, maybe this is the big guy. I'd say it's mos.
I know people ragged on the death writers' storyline, but
he's consistently delivered all year without being injured and big
time matches, getting mid card things going all sorts of
smaller storylines. He's every bit acted like the age of
the company this year.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Okay, Chris, let's go to you.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
Okay, Well, I missed a little because someone decided to
call me right as the show was starting, even though
they know I do this every Tuesday. Who has picked already?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
So we've had Mox, we've had Okada, and we've had Fletcher.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
Okay, well, hang man, obviously hang man. I mean, okay,
say what the pick? This is for men's Wrestler of
the year.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Right, that is correct? Yeah, Women's Wrestler of the Year.
And you'd said hang man, we would have laughed at you. Well,
I wanted to.

Speaker 6 (05:12):
Be completely shared. Hey, I don't know how he identifies.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Sudden. Let's go to you on this one.

Speaker 7 (05:21):
I got a pause on this one because everybody already
picked Amine.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Okay, Well, I will then put my pick in. As
Kano Skate Takeshta, I gotta go with I gotta go
with with Takeshida, as somebody called him on a podcast
and it cracked me up. Uh So, there you go.
Those are our picks for the men's Wrestlers of the Year.

(05:52):
We don't have Do we have anybody in chat making
any picks yet? No? Okay, so I'm sorry. By the way, Okay,
hom Sore was the big guy picked.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
Homsre blog screen went on page. I just assumed somebody
would pick Page.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Don't assume because it come up and bite in the ass.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
You're gonna vote on this. He almost had to have
Page at least on the ballot. He was the world
champ for a large russion of the year.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Well, let's go to women's Wrestler of the Year. I'm
gonna go to Sutton first on this one.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
I'm gonna go with Chris Statlander.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
She's Statlander.

Speaker 8 (06:40):
Okay, she had a great year.

Speaker 7 (06:42):
She's the champ now, and she deserved to be the
champ because she did a lot of stuff for these
guys this year.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
All right, Chris, let's go to you.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
I like the stat Lander. I'm gonna go with Tony.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Tony Storm, all right, okay, let's go to you.

Speaker 8 (07:04):
It's Mercedes Money. She's done a lot for people.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
She's putting people over now finally, and I think it's
well worth putting her on there.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Okay, and let's go to Barry.

Speaker 9 (07:18):
Beck left.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
She's been a breath of fresh air to the women's division,
brought a lot of juice and a lot of energy,
and it's just been really fun to watch.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
And Homsar the first three are definitely we're my main fixs.
But I would say we got to put a teena
on the list. Her match out put's been unbelievable since
the Ginning of the year, continues to be one of
the best talents on either side of the AW roster.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yep, Okay, well, gee, you guys took every one of
mine out there, so I'm gonna do it. By the way,
this is ae W and r oh, so adding somebody
like Athena is absolutely fine because our oh compliment accomplishments

(08:09):
do count. I should have pointed that out earlier. I'm
gonna say, well, hmmm, I'm gonna say Megan Baine. I
think that since she's come in, she's been a workhorse,
since she's really elevated the division. I think that people
look forward to seeing her. I really do so that's it.

(08:33):
That's my pick. Let's move on again. You know, keep
in mind that there are r oh factions in this
as well. But I'm gonna I'm gonna skip right to
Faction of the Year. I'm gonna lead the tag team
of the Year for a little bit later. Let's go
to the Faction of the Year. What I consider a

(08:54):
faction is any group of three or more, not including
managers and other words with say, somebody like F t R.
Stokely doesn't make him a faction. He's just a manager.
Does that make sense?

Speaker 9 (09:14):
Agreed?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
You know, I think that they have to wrestle, you know,
have a serious wrestling match to be able to be
considered a faction. Okay, so Faction of the Year, let's
go to Uh, I'm gonna go to Berry first on
this one.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
I'm going with Brodido. They kicked off kind of the resurgence.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Let me let me uh, let me stop you there.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Uh we're in fashion. Yeah, yeah, all right, I'm gonna pass.
I'm I don't have a pick.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
You got to have raise raise your hand or grunt
or something if you do have one. After he goes, so,
let's I'm gonna go to hamsar oh Man.

Speaker 10 (10:05):
That's a tough one. I actually didn't write anything down.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
I guess I'm just gonna go ahead and pick Death
Writers because I feel like since about well, I don't
know when the turn after this word match, I feel
like their program has been really great since then, So
I think for most that would give us nine months
or so out.

Speaker 10 (10:23):
Of the year that they were really really good. And
I think they've been in that positive So I'm gonna
pick that writers.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
All right, let's go to Chris.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
I actually would have gone Death Writer. You know, I've
been not a fan of the whole interference thing they do,
but I can't deny the success they so I would
have picked them. Might going with a sort of left
field pick and say Shane Taylor Promotions. I don't keep
up with r awaits as much of my life, but

(10:54):
I know they've been doing some great things down there.
They have the three to ohs or six Man's tied. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm gonna go, say Tyler Promo.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Okay, let's go to MKH.

Speaker 8 (11:10):
The Triangle of Madness is what it's called. Yes, yeah,
I think.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
They've really gelled together. I really hope more success comes
to their way, but they've they've done an excellent job,
all right.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
And Suddon Conglomeration, the the conglomeration, Okay.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
You're just they're just some. That's some of the funniest
stuff going on the show right now when they're there.

Speaker 9 (11:34):
So I kind of liked them. Okay, I gotta tell
some Go ahead, Barry.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
I am actually shocked nobody said this the don Callus.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Family, Thank you so much.

Speaker 10 (11:47):
Take your like, like.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
I had another one behind that, but but just nobody calls.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
Family because of legal stuff and an injury. Like it's absurd.
So all right, go ahead, gil Sidira.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Okay, I'm gonna go to Hurt Syndicate. I could pick
them confidently because MVP does wrestle, uh, but I think
the Hurt Syndicate, you know, we should belong in this.
Let's then move on, Barry. Okay, we'll go to the
Tag Team of a Year and I'll let you go first.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
As I was saying, Broddo, they brought a breath of
fresh air into the Tag division and it was a
win that was really fun and not really expected by
most people.

Speaker 9 (12:35):
They had a.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Really, really fun run and I was I'm really glad
I got to watch that this year. It just it
was really fun.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
All right, Well, let's go to something since his mic
is open.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
I'm gonna go with the Yes Speed.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
I like what they do.

Speaker 7 (12:53):
I think they're going to be the future of the
Tag team division and I like them a lot.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
All right, Okay, let's go to you.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
It surprises me to say this, but I really think
it needs to go to the gum Bucks. They they
that I'm not sure if they're heel or face honestly anymore.

Speaker 8 (13:13):
They really deserve it because they've been able.

Speaker 3 (13:15):
To make them if people laughing then and they they've
really won me over this year.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Fair enough, Uh, let's go to Homsar.

Speaker 9 (13:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
I was gonna pick the gum Books too, but I'm
gonna go with FTR. I feel like and stokely shored
up their weakest point, which was listening to Dicks on
the mic too much. He brings a lot of variety,
and I think they're working. The ring speaks for itself,
and I think they're gonna go on a really good
run here with the Tag Belt the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
All right, Well, Chris is you're gonna go up first
on the next one. I'm gonna let you go last
on this one.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Well so.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yeah, yeah, and.

Speaker 6 (13:58):
I have the whole thing I was gonna be like
today is the greatest thing of my life. Yeah, I'm
gonna have to pass because honestly, everyone picked the teams
I would have picked, Like, there's no other teams that
really stick out to me besides the ones that have

(14:19):
already been mentioned.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Yeah, I agree. I'm just gonna just just to throw
it to the win. I'm gonna say, uh, timeless love Bombs.
Even though they really haven't been a team that long,
I think that they've made an impact. They've been, you know,

(14:42):
greater than the ring. They're in the finals of the
Women's World Tag Team Tournament, and they're Their interviews and
backstage shenanigans have been really good. So you know, here's
the up year signal to everybody from the tipland slub bombs.
All right, Chris, most improved wrestler of the year. You've

(15:06):
been waiting with baited breath, Thank you for your patience.
Hit us with your shocking surprise pick.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
Jungle Jack Perry. I know he hasn't really, I mean,
he's been out for most of the year, but the
the change not back to his old gimmick, but going
back to that and blending it with you know what,
he had his escape goat. I think it's just completely

(15:35):
revitalized his character. And I am really and as much
as it sucks that Darby is out of the Continental Classic,
I'm really excited to see what Jack Perry will do
in there. And I think he has a I think
he has a big twenty twenty six in store. Oh yeah,

(15:57):
Jack Parry.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
All right, I'm gonna go to ab k.

Speaker 7 (16:02):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
I'm gonna say Megan Bang. I really think first she
was a little unsteady when she came in, but she's
really hit it good. She's she's good good in that
tag campionship. So I really think it's her.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
All right, and let's go to something then. Harley Cameron.

Speaker 7 (16:22):
She's improved a ton this year and I really think
that she's gonna be someone to watch in the next
few years.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Our winner of the award last year was Harley Cameron,
and so she's being nominated to before to have improved
even beyond that. Interesting. I'm gonna go to Homoswarp.

Speaker 10 (16:43):
Oh, I uh, he's good.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Picks. I like the Perry pick. I'd just been talking
about how sharp his work has looked since he's come back.
It's really he looks almost like a different guy. But
I am gonna pick a little bit of a controversial pick,
and probably a lot of people's picked last year, which
is kind of Fletcher. Kyle Fletcher's a guy that I've
always kind of liked, well, I've respected as a wrestler,

(17:07):
and I liked his improvement, but I've never really liked
too much go go a lot of like young will
Osprey in there. But this year he has really kind
of learned to sell and slow down matches, and I've
just been insanely impressed. Like I'm totally with the people
who last year were saying that Kyle Fletcher is a
future world champ. I think he's he's really become a
top guy in a class guy in this company.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Now, all right, and let's go to Barry Queen Aminada.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
Sometimes there's a performer that just kind of sits it
up a little category and for one reason or another, you.

Speaker 9 (17:40):
Can just watch him put it all together.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
There's been a couple picks that kind of meet that
that some folks have already said. And I really think
when she comes out there. She feels like a big
name now and I'm looking forward to her when she's
coming back from injury, getting right back in the thick
of things and hopefully got on for our first title.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with brody King and that's it's
kind of a controversial pick, but he's always been good.
I don't want to say that he wasn't believe me,
but his partnership with Brodido has brought out another side
to him and I just think that it has improved him,

(18:23):
not only in the ring, which he's doing did things
in the ring now that he has not done in
the past where has not done that often, but also
as far as just character. Even though he was in
the House of Black, which was all character driven, brody
King just seems like an improved version of himself.

Speaker 9 (18:43):
He got over organically. I mean it was gorgeous to
watch he own.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Now, next, I want to go to, frankly, two of
my favorite categories, and we're gonna start with Babyface of
the Year Year and Barry. I'm gonna go to you first.

Speaker 9 (19:03):
Oh, this is a good one. I wasn't prepared for this.
I was focusing on Heel of the Year, baby Face
of the Year.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
You know, I'm gonna go with one of the folks
that said most improved wrestler of the year, one of
the one of the quick picks.

Speaker 9 (19:15):
I'm gonna go with Harley Cameron on this.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
She has quickly established herself this year as the fan
favorite incapable of ever not being over. It doesn't matter
if she loses and she comes out and she's she
has that will Osprey good guy feeling, you know, I mean,
clearly not the same with the ring, but she's just
she just is great when she's out there. You just
you just want to low her and eat her up.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
All right, I'm gonna go to m K.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
So I'm gonna say, Kyle O'Reilly, he's really done good.
He made a believer out of me. I think really
him getting away from Adam Cole and being his own
person and being and Para gone has really helped him
a bunch. And he doesn't need anybody else. He's funny organically,
and he's a good wrestler.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Okay, uh, Homsar, what do you say?

Speaker 10 (20:05):
Yeah, I think there's some great picks.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
I I'm gonna pick maybe the guy who I think
is kind of getting the big react right now, which
is Kevin Knight, guy that has come from being kind
of a big player in New Japan but putting in
some really great work in the junior's division to really
I think me and c is kind of one of
the the big young stars of the company, and he's

(20:30):
incredibly over at the live crowd.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
All right, and uh, let's go to Sutton.

Speaker 7 (20:38):
I really don't have a pick here. You guys have
said the ones I was thinking, So I got a pass.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
All right, what about you, Chris?

Speaker 6 (20:46):
Uh? I have two that I really liked that I
think are good Night.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
I was between him and Willow.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
But I'm gonna go Astree, Okay, okay something. You don't
have a pick then, right? Yeah? No pick baby Face
of the Year. This is tough because I tend with me.

(21:22):
I like the baby faces who were tweeterers basically, you know,
like on the edge, like I always loved mal Kai
Black for that reason, I'm gonna go Swerve Strickland, even
though he's a good guy that does bad things and
I love that about Swerve. Let's go to Heal of

(21:47):
the Year something. Since you didn't have a pick this
last time, I'm gonna go to you.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Don't callous.

Speaker 7 (21:54):
There's not a bigger heal on aw than Don't Callous.

Speaker 9 (21:58):
That's great kick.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Yeah, I'm so glad you did that. I agree. Well,
let's let's go to Let's go to Chris.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
I would argue there might be one bigger heal than
John Kallas.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Moxley, John Moxley. And by the way, Net has arrived,
and Net, what we are talking about. We are nominating
one person each mm hmm, and we're on Heel of
the Year, so I'll give you a few seconds to
think about it. And then we've already nominated John Moxley,

(22:33):
and we've already nominated Don Kallis uh and and now
I can't remember who are who picked uh? Sutton and
who else? Okay, all right, so let's go to Barry.
Since he was concentrating on heal the year when we
were doing I'm.

Speaker 9 (22:53):
Surprised nobody got my guy, So I'm going with.

Speaker 6 (22:58):
It.

Speaker 9 (22:58):
Has been just so much.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Fun to watch him this year establish such a great
character that he is so comfortable in. He's working with
the gates of agony and the demand. It's just he
is the perfect mid card to upper mid card, top
heel that can play at the at the main event
scene whenever they need him to plug and play like

(23:22):
he is just in a great position.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Now I can't argue with you there. Who else is left? Mkay?

Speaker 9 (23:35):
Oh crap, I just lost it.

Speaker 8 (23:37):
Mercedes Monette.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Yeah, you know, she's the one person everybody wants to
lose those titles. She does a great job at being
a you know, she's kind of one dimensional, I will
say that, but she does a great job at playing
the hill and she's put over a lot of people.
She put over stat and she just got done putting
over Red Veil, but which I didn't see coming.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Okay, uh hopswar, let's go to you.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Yeah, man, that's a that's a tough one. He got
mine right there at the end. I'm gonna pick I
think I'm gonna actually pick Pack because I think going
forward out of the Death Riders, he's kind of the
guy I feel like who has a lot of momentum.

(24:25):
He's insanely jack. Now I'm the only really questioned mark
is his injury with him, So you know, I think
he's gonna go ham next year. But I also think
his work from this year has been exceptional minus a
little bit of miss time as his usual.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
Right, Well, that here is your opportunity to shine.

Speaker 11 (24:46):
All right, everyone, my pick for Heel of the Year.
It's two people, but they go together.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
It's ft No, no, no, don't okay, yeah, we can
do Yeah, it's a TV have two people.

Speaker 11 (25:01):
No, they go together. I'd have to give it to FTR.

Speaker 12 (25:07):
And that is because I.

Speaker 11 (25:09):
Don't think anyone wanted to see them win the tag
titles again. And they are universal harassers of everyone. They
don't have a nice thing to say to anybody. They
bother the people in the crowd, the fans, they're just
they're the worst.

Speaker 9 (25:29):
For me.

Speaker 12 (25:30):
That's my pick.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Okay, well my pick, and I am not only shocked,
I'm disappointed at each and every one of you for
not picking this person because they don't even have to
do anything and they get hated. And that's Wheeler you to.
How could you guys leave Wheeler?

Speaker 9 (25:47):
You to out of the good people.

Speaker 6 (25:57):
Don't hate him because you hate him because he's a little.

Speaker 9 (26:03):
He figured that out, man figured it out. He figured
it out.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
You could say what you want about his wrestling ability
or whatnot. And you're right, Berry, he figured it out.
He doesn't even have to say it or do anything.
He just walks like if you so, it's so underrated.

Speaker 10 (26:28):
People don't get it like he's like so much.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
He's like, yes, everything you hate about him, he figured
it out.

Speaker 9 (26:34):
He figured it.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Out, you know what. And I will say this about
Wheeler Yuta if he was one of the people that
would go to like w W E or t NA
or wherever people be like, oh man, I'm gonna miss
call you know, saying fu you to to everybody. But
let's move on. Uh, this is a fun category. It's
our last category, character work of the Year, and I'm

(26:57):
gonna go to NET first. This one.

Speaker 12 (27:02):
Okay, character work of the year.

Speaker 9 (27:06):
Let's see.

Speaker 11 (27:08):
I would probably have to give it to Tony Storm.
She's just been phenomenal. But if we yeah, if we
have to pick one, I would have to say Tony Storm.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Okay, let's go to MK.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
I'm gonna say Megan Baine. She's become a beast. Like
I love watching her entrance. I wish they want to
make it better where where like it used to be
when she was on Dark with people coming down. But
she's she's really good at what she does. She sells
being a beast, and she does it really well.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
All Right, I'm sore. Let's go to you got on
you give.

Speaker 10 (27:55):
Me a second on this one. I just headed in
my head and I lost it.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Okay, Well then let's go to Bear.

Speaker 5 (28:01):
All right, I kind of get gave a preview of
this one. But I'm going with Wheeler Yuda. Like I
was saying, this year, he just he really figured it
out on how to be just a great heel with
doing as little as possible to get heat. He just
he makes you hate him and all of the right ways.
That just tells you he knew what. He just figured

(28:24):
it out. He knows what to do in the ring,
how to take pins the right way if he's if
he's getting pinned, how to just get the cheap heat
and the little sniffling eye. He's just so good. I
just all of his heel work this year, it just
was so good.

Speaker 9 (28:39):
It was just so good.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
All right, Let's go to Chris.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
Uh Tony Storm would have been my top pick, and
I gotta get very like what he said about you
to its spot on. You know he's but yeah, he's
on that. So I'm gonna go with Oh Tata.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Yeah, bitch, that's a good choice. That's a great choice.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Uh The I pushed the wrong button is the line
of the year, so funny.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Sorry, sorry, let's all do let's do all yeah, let's
all together. Now, let's do our racist Japanese.

Speaker 10 (29:28):
That's funny. He's making that such a good gag.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, let's go to you.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
I'm gonna go with Ricochet because, uh, Ricochet has quickly
made himself one of the most hated people. Not quite
on the level of Uta or Don Kallas, but he's
up there and his obnoxiousness and everything, he has got
that worked out almost perfect.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
I guess hang, I'm sorry, go ahead, Yeah, all.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Right, I'm gonna vote. I'm gonna vote the Ace Adam
Page on this one. Man, I feel like we have
lacked like a Babyface Run where somebody actually kept the
advantage over the Heel team. I know he lost in
the end, Man, he really did a good job kind
of fighting off the odds and overcoming and kind of

(30:22):
turning Babyface Run into not looking like a schmuck constantly,
which is such a breath fresh air just for the
main events scene in general.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Well, my pick, I didn't miss anybody, did I I
didn't think. I did proud of myself that I went
through this whole thing and didn't leave anybody out. My
pick is really easy for me. The entrance music alone
does it for me, not to mention just the the

(30:55):
heat that he gets and of course his wrestler introduction,
it's don Kallis is the character work of the year
for me. Guys, that was a lot of fun. See
what we're gonna do is, uh, we're going to pick.
We're going to commensurate and we're going to pick out

(31:16):
of all these picks, We're going to pick four in
each category, and then we will put them up for
a poll next week on the socials for the aw
fan Hub and the community will be able to vote
until probably like December twenty ninth or something like that,
when we will reveal the aw fat Hubs prestigious by

(31:38):
the way, the prestigious aw Fat Hub Awards. So be
on the lookout in the next few days for the
polls to be up. We'll put them up on Reddit,
we'll put them up on you know to vote for
a Blue Sky and Twitter and of course our discord
and if you look at if you're watching this, you

(31:59):
can see on the screen, the discord, the discord, oh
my god, the invite link book. God, we kind of
figure it out, Woo woo, and then we'll get these
things done. Okay, we're going to move on. We're not
going to really talk about the matches that are upcoming,

(32:20):
but we are going to talk about what's been going
on with the Continental Classic. I just wanted to ask,
you know, is there anything that you see that has
stood out? And by the way, again for people that
are watching this and not on Spotify and listening to
it there or you know, on the podcast things the

(32:41):
graphic does say Saturday, December thirteenth and four point thirty
Eastern time. Please make a note that that collision is
on Saturday, coast to coast, but it does have a
much earlier start time. I think it's because the mumpt
reunion show is Saturday night, if I'm not mistaken. But anyway,

(33:04):
what do we think about the Continental Classic thus far?
Is it meeting your expectations for the Muppets? Okay, yeah,

(33:36):
So anyway, what do we think about the Continental Classic?
I mean, I mean, we've had what a couple of
wrestlers have done three matches, most have done two. There's
a couple that have only done one, Jack Berry replacing
Darby Allen. It's only you know, Darby only had one.
Jack Berry has not wrestled yet. So but what are

(33:57):
we what are our overall thoughts so far after the
first two full weeks of the Continental Classic.

Speaker 9 (34:04):
I think you.

Speaker 6 (34:05):
Enjoyed it so far. There's been some great masses, some
definite surprises, you know, good story stuff even you know,
outside of it being the Continental Classic. I'm really looking
forward to seeing some of the matches that maybe on

(34:26):
paper are a little strained, because sometimes those end up
being the most fun matches of all. Like master a
Dorado versus Tequeska. That should be interesting.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Oh that's going to be a war that's going to
be more than interesting.

Speaker 10 (34:47):
Not to me.

Speaker 6 (34:48):
Yeah, but you know, there are two guys who, you know,
stylistically are very different, and I think we saw with
you know, Dorato versus Claudio that it worked out really well.
So I definitely interested to see what Jack Perry does.
You know, I said it stuck to Darby Allen's out,

(35:09):
but I'm excited to say with Jack Perry will too
that he's now that he's got his hings.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Yeah, I think they've done a better job overall just
keeping the story going this year. I think one of
the kind of original sins of Death Writers last year.
And I've said this before, I'm sure on this podcast,
was the whole turn happened at you know, the title
switch happened at full gear, and then the Death Writers
was basically put on the back burner until January. I

(35:38):
don't know that it's even mentioned much with I'm sure
they talked about it when the Claudio had matches, but
it's really like it's it's maintained a lot better pace
this year in terms of the overall show, and you know,
I still think they've got the chance to put those
big matches on.

Speaker 9 (35:53):
And I think for the.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Most part, I didn't like I didn't like the Derby
pick in the first place.

Speaker 10 (35:57):
I wanted Perry there.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
So I'm not gonna you know, I'm not going to
say that, like you know, im pre makes you hate
to see guys get hurt. But I do think like
I like the picks that they brought in. I kind
of wrote down like, even though I love both the guys,
I did not want to see Brodi King, I did
not want to see Mark Brisco again in the tournament,
So I think it's gonna a good job mix in

(36:20):
some some names like Moxley that I kind of expected
to see with some some fresh faces. I think Dorada's
inclusion is good too. I would have liked sitting ATCHI
s maybe in the other group, but I'm not going
to complain about having Dorott. He's amazing.

Speaker 5 (36:35):
The something else I've they've now solidified. First off, I
love Continental Classic season. I just want to get that
up front. These are have been the last three years
usually some of the strongest TV that AW does from
a flow perspective, because the matches all make sense and
why they're going on, and then they can just pepper

(36:55):
it in with one or two matches to further other storylines.
It's just some of the TV. But one of the
things that I think they've clearly established with this season
that is very important is that there are going to
be upsets, and this year they did those upsets very early,
and I think that was really smart because previously they
would hold those upsets in the end and when everyone's like, oh, well,

(37:18):
somebody's got to get their one win or whatever. But
with the ones they've done so far, I think the
fans believe anybody can win in these matches, and then
they start to expect the upsets, and that's when they
really get them, when aw finally gets the fans on
that hook, and maybe it'll be next year where they
know it can happen and they expect it. When's the

(37:38):
first one going to go down? That's when this is
really going to peak as an annual thing. But all
in all, I've really enjoyed it this year for sure.

Speaker 8 (37:45):
Yeah, I agree with that.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
I really am particularly happy with the fact that they
chose not to book current champions in there so that
they can do their own thing as well. But the
last year Daniel Garcia kind of got swept under the
rub when he was T and T champion. But they're
doing good and I was really really surprised that Dorado
beat Claudio. I was really happy they gave.

Speaker 8 (38:05):
Him a chance to showing.

Speaker 9 (38:08):
I was legit shocked, legit shocked.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Anybody else with a opinion about this year's Continental Classic.

Speaker 5 (38:20):
So I want to bring up about that Claudio Durada match.
I think ex Caliber tipped the hand on the finish.
When the match started, he said, Claudio is a history
of struggling against smaller opponents, and I thought that was
a weird thing to bring up until after the finish
and I'm like ex Caliber told us who is going

(38:41):
to win there?

Speaker 9 (38:41):
Man? Well, something.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
Had trouble against Luca Doors, which is at touched. You
know Claudio traditionally, even in WWE, he had trouble against
Luca Door's Lucas style wrestlers.

Speaker 9 (38:59):
You know.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
So I think it was a little bit of telegraphing there,
but I mean it is it is historically accurate to
Claudio's career, so I mean it's something you got it mentioned.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
So the CBL World Heavyweight Champion has trouble with luchadors.

Speaker 10 (39:21):
I think a barrel with arms attached.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Did you have an opinion?

Speaker 11 (39:35):
I just like the Continental Classic all around. This is
one of my favorite times in wrestling. I like who
they have in there. Uh, and I think it's just
gonna be good all around. I was surprised with the
Claudio match as well, but I'm glad that it played

(39:55):
out that way.

Speaker 9 (39:58):
What else?

Speaker 11 (39:58):
I hate the Darby's in, but I think jungle Jack
needs a moment to shine and maybe this is his
takeoff moment to really no longer be an escapegoat and
being a good guy.

Speaker 12 (40:13):
So we'll see.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Well, I have a hard time kind of when I
think of like Perry's best mansions, it's always with his peers,
It's always with m JF. This is like, this is
the time where I think he's get a chance to
show some diversity and really like hopefully kind of cement
himself as a as leveled up a little bit.

Speaker 10 (40:31):
I think he needs it.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
You know what. I kind of have to be the
voice of dissension here. And I don't want to make
it sound like I hate the hate the Continental Classic,
but I don't because I don't. The first Continental Classic
put a huge bad taste in my mouth that after

(40:56):
that fiasco, I was like, let's not ever do this again. Okay,
that's just my honest opinion. Now, last year's Continental Classic,
it was good. I enjoyed it. This year's Continental Classic,
I can honestly say I have very very little interest
in it. I do not know why, but I can't

(41:21):
follow the matches. I just can't, especially like the later
matches in the shows. I watched the first couple matches
and then the last match because they generally had three
on each show. I don't think I've seen the main
event matches. I haven't seen any of them because I've

(41:42):
just lost interest. I think some of that has to
do with I don't know. I'm just not invested in
who wins this. It doesn't mean anything to me. And
I think a lot of that has to do with
there's three belts. There's an International, Continental, and Unified Belt,

(42:05):
and to this day, I still don't know the distinction
between them. And I had to be honest with you,
I don't care if those three belts were to go away,
and what bothered me at all. That's just the way
I feel about it. I mean, they and there's so
many people to do to this day. I just saw
a post about it this week. You know, what is
the difference between these belts? They they're not explaining them.

(42:29):
I'm sorry, and I'm not and I don't care enough
to find out.

Speaker 7 (42:33):
I think I think the problem is that people think
there's a difference between them being the Belts as a
trio as opposed to what they were bringing. The only
belt that is difference the Unified Belt. The other two
are still considered to be the same as they were before.
They're just included in the trio.

Speaker 6 (42:52):
That's the problem that I'm sorry, Yeah, that is a
big problem. You need to get rid of those other two.
How can you have and also, yeah, is on the
line in this tournament.

Speaker 12 (43:09):
They should have stayed unified.

Speaker 4 (43:10):
So I think that's I think that's the story mcguffin.
I do not think that they're actually going to split
those belts up. I think it's just yet another excuse.
And this is maybe the thing I don't like that.
It feels like this whole thing is just a long
excuse to do takesh verse.

Speaker 7 (43:27):
Yeah, that's that's my problem with the the You said, Kelsey,
the first bet, the first continent of plastic. We knew
what was going to happen from the beginning. We knew
Eddie was going to win it. There was no denying
what was going to happen. Last year, you could say
there was a little bit of controversy and what might happen,
but you were pretty sure it was going to come

(43:47):
down to who it was going to come down to.
This year, it's takesha and and is not losing the match.
I said that, We've talked about it.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
The first week.

Speaker 7 (43:55):
He's not losing the match. You're not going to have
the i w GP champion lose a match, not at all,
and if he does, it'll be a tie, right, and
you know it doesn't make it. The only thing he
could make this more interesting is if Maxley loses to
every member of his little squad there in the tournament somehow,

(44:20):
but him and Pack are in the opposite side, so
that means they would have to finish one too, so
that they could be against each other in the in
the semifinals. But then you'd have to have Pack or
Takeshta and Okada in the other semifinal. So I mean
to me, if you're gonna make this a tournament that

(44:41):
you want to legitimize and make the perfect tournament, you
can't have champions of any any champion in the match,
except for maybe the defending continental champions.

Speaker 10 (44:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (44:52):
New Japan did, but New Japan also had twenty people
in the tournaments.

Speaker 9 (44:57):
Yeah you're different.

Speaker 2 (44:59):
One of the things that you know, I don't like
comparing New Japan to Western wrestling, But there was something
that was posted in the Greatness of Wrestling subreddit that
I honestly agree with. Keep in mind, you have the

(45:24):
we're gonna talk about this. Next to Women's tournament going on,
you have the Continental Classic going on, and somebody in
the Greatness of Wrestling subreddit pointed out looking at the
match cards, it was like, this is isn't this the
same exact match card as it was last week? And
to be honest with you, there is a lot of

(45:47):
satanists to it. And I'm sorry. I I like the matches,
the ones that I've watched. I do need to go
back and watch some of them, but as far as
the Continental Classic goes win or lose with the three
belts and everything, it's too confusing And I honestly I

(46:10):
don't really care who wins this. I really don't.

Speaker 9 (46:14):
Sometimes something's just not your jam, and that's okay, Yeah,
I mean.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
It's not like I'm just I'm not hating on it.
I'm not hating on it. I hated the first Continental
Classic that was that was stupid. That was very specifically though, Yeah,
but that was.

Speaker 4 (46:32):
It was like, more more so than Kingston doing now
Nelson doesn't like they uh, I just don't feel like
they structured the match as well.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
For being.

Speaker 9 (46:42):
It was really like it.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
Really didn't have anything to do with Eddie. Eddie Kingston
per se. It was the fact that they literally told
everybody who was going to win the damn thing before
it even started. I mean only which was Eddie Kingston,
but it could have been it could have been it
could have been John Moxley that they told was gonna win.
It would still made it just as stupid. I mean,

(47:05):
it was a stupid There really was a dumb thing.
I mean, you watch the matches for the matches, but
you knew Eddie Kingston was gonna win it. So what
was the point? You know that, Like I said, it's
really not a slight against Eddie Kingston to the fact
that if it had been John Moxley that they told
you was gonna win it, or Claudio Cassagoli or anybody

(47:29):
you know, it's it's the fact is is that they
told you who was gonna win it before it even started,
you know. So that's that. Uh, let's move on because
we do have the finals of and this is happening
at Winter's Coming Dynamite from Atlanta. The Timeless Love Bombs

(47:52):
are facing the Babes of Rat in the finals of
the Women's World Tag Team Championship Tournament. What do you
guys think who are the winners.

Speaker 4 (48:09):
I think Daves are at the beginning, So I guess
I gotta say now, I don't.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
Really want bes Rash to win, but I think it's
going to be Tony and.

Speaker 8 (48:17):
Yeah, I think it will.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
Anybody else.

Speaker 9 (48:24):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (48:25):
This is this is a coin flip for me, man, Like,
I don't know. I can see a case for both
of them. I think the Timeless Love Bombs are the
name brand that I think because they're the name brand,
they don't actually need the belts, but I could.

Speaker 9 (48:42):
I don't know. This is the coin flip for me, man.

Speaker 2 (48:45):
Yeah. Look, I mean I mentioned this earlier. Harley Cameron
last year in the aw Fan Hubb Awards was the
most improved wrestler last year, and she was, and she
was nominated this year for most Improved. That's saying something.
She's never won a belt. I mean, Mina shir Cow

(49:06):
had the interim ring him on her TV Championship, but
out of all fort these women, literally, Harley Cameron has
never won a belt. And for that reason and that
reason alone, I think that I gotta go with the
Babes of Wrath on this one. And I agree with

(49:28):
whomever said that the time. Most love bombs, they don't
really need a belt. However, I wouldn't be upset if
they want it, because I would really like to see
Mina shirkkw belt, you know, with a with a real belt.
By the way, I don't know you guys looking at
the graphic that I did for this, do you get it?
It's a wrathful woman holding a bomb that shaped like

(49:52):
a heart.

Speaker 9 (49:54):
I was what you were putting down.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
That graphic took me like words to do because I mean,
it's just a clip art that woman. Obviously I did vot,
I did do anything. I just she was holding like
a crystal or something like that, and I just changed
it to the to a love bomb graphic. But anyway,

(50:16):
I'm proud of myself for that one.

Speaker 6 (50:20):
For me, this is one of those whoever wins, I'll
be happy. I'm always going for Mina because I love her.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
You know, Mina, Mina's Mina is the bane of my existence.
She really is. The reason I say that is because
I love her too. And but Reddit has some very
weird rules about you know, not what what is what

(50:56):
is not not safe for work? You can't take a
picture of mina nose and post it and they had
Reddit weall flag it is not safe for work. She
is the most difficult person to post a picture of
in the history of Reddit. I guarantee.

Speaker 6 (51:09):
If she is, it's not her fault. Sexy as health.

Speaker 2 (51:15):
I mean I literally posted a picture from her chin
up to the top of her head. There was no
other on it, and they marked it. Nothing else of it,
and they marked it and sff you know what.

Speaker 9 (51:24):
I mean, editors, I would agree.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
You know, it's just I don't know, it's just something weird.
And you know, Reddit is just one of those things
where I've said it before and I'll say it again.
When you look at wrestlers, professional wrestlers pictures, who wears
less clothes? The men are the women? The men do?

Speaker 6 (51:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (51:45):
By far, I mean look at a picture of Adam
Cole and look at a picture of Mita Shri Kala
who wears in their wrestling gear. Who's wearing less Adam Cole?
By far, Well, you can post ten thousand pictures of
Adam Cole, not one of them will be marked not
safe for working. For a picture. You post a picture
of Ministre cows faced and it's like, Nope, too sexy.

Speaker 10 (52:09):
Wait, wait minute, where did that killed?

Speaker 2 (52:14):
I was I was, I was trying I was trying
down to go.

Speaker 13 (52:18):
I couldn't cut off from until I calmed down Like
that was just jumped out.

Speaker 9 (52:21):
And stand a man.

Speaker 2 (52:24):
Yeah look look welcome. Well yeah, okay, Wait a second,
Let's let's get down to the bottom of this net.
You have some splayed to do.

Speaker 11 (52:37):
No one wants to see ten thousand pictures of Adam.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
Next week on a W fatob Our special feature ten
thousand pictures of Adam Gold. You know I've got to
do it now. I'm gonna go.

Speaker 9 (53:00):
Frame by frame, snap snaps.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
Oh god, everybody anywhere.

Speaker 9 (53:11):
That's the award you give every category. It's all.

Speaker 14 (53:19):
Yes, yes, yeah, everybody that's listening to this, I'm giving something.
A W A W fat Hub at gmail dot com
said us your zip files of j pgs of Adam
Cole Man.

Speaker 10 (53:40):
It canna make canters out of it?

Speaker 2 (53:44):
Yeah, we can make calendars out of it.

Speaker 9 (53:47):
It's like, what do you all love Adam Cole.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
You know people, It's like it's like we're all dead
and there's still Adam cole calendars still going on.

Speaker 6 (54:00):
Still sculating.

Speaker 7 (54:05):
Arsenal comes in classes in the next one thousands of years.
So now finds that the collection of.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Doing a wind fanhob time capsuled like five hundred years
from now. They dig it up and they're like, what
the f is this man?

Speaker 10 (54:28):
This must have been there, God.

Speaker 2 (54:37):
Is this guy?

Speaker 9 (54:38):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Adam cold disrespect the man. The man is probably likely
never going to wrestle another matchic.

Speaker 5 (54:50):
I love, I've loved him forever, but I don't know
what was going on in that period for the tanner
he was using. He knows that area and everybody knows
what I'm talking about, Like, I don't know what happened
there that was he was.

Speaker 2 (55:06):
He was trying out for the remake of Yellow Bastard
for the CID City remake.

Speaker 5 (55:12):
Which is a shame because like that dude just got
an incredible shape before he got hurt.

Speaker 9 (55:18):
I mean, like you.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
Could tell that he was not doing well because he
lost a lot of weight towards he had there before all.

Speaker 5 (55:25):
Yeah, but yeah, he was an incredible shape. So I
just I missed that guy a lot.

Speaker 6 (55:30):
I really like the most athletic.

Speaker 15 (55:36):
I was like, you know what you know, I mean
better round. You know, he could have maybe.

Speaker 2 (55:48):
Been nominated for Character work of the year. I mean,
Jaundice is character worker, right, I guess commitment to the.

Speaker 11 (55:55):
Gimmick man commitment to the gimmick.

Speaker 4 (56:01):
I don't think we're probably talking about this yet. I
think we all hope Adam Cole will be back, but
he would nerd my feelings. As good as he is
on the mic if if he came back to wanting
to do some manager stuff or something, he would really
be pretty excellent.

Speaker 5 (56:14):
Hey, yeah, I enjoy him on commentary too, Like, like
he is somebody that if if he can travel, I
think Tony should figure out a way to get him
on TV like he's he's he's great, Like everybody loves
Adam Cole. You know, if he if he can travel
ever again, just get him on TV doing something.

Speaker 9 (56:36):
Man.

Speaker 2 (56:37):
You know, I was actually I was actually thinking about
this earlier today. But you know, when MGF comes back
and they do the whole Dynamite Diamond Ring match again
or whatever they're doing, would it be cool if the
Devil helped him win the Diamond Diamond Ring again, not

(56:58):
in the match, but maybe just hit somebody with a
chair or something like that, and it turns out that
it was Adam Cole you know, I really would I
really would like to see I mean, how many of
you have read this book? Is all? How many of
you have read this book? Is all? Ead? I haven't

(57:23):
you know what? That's a real short book.

Speaker 6 (57:27):
Thank you you just gave me the answer.

Speaker 9 (57:30):
Yeah, yeah, I think it's going to be in my
stocking as well, which I.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
Did read it. And spoiler alert, there is a little
bit about Adam Cole and MJF and how you know,
their dynamic and their friendship was so good. But you
know what, they didn't talk about the breakup. They just
talked about the dynamic and the friendship that they had.
I think they dropped the ball really bad. But let's
move on because, as you know, we are now picking

(57:56):
Adam Cole to win the Women's World Tag Team Championship.

Speaker 9 (58:04):
Jesuslson killing the guy when he's down.

Speaker 5 (58:10):
I don't know, that's stabbing him and Kelson just like
kicked him, well yeah, like a dead guy.

Speaker 2 (58:18):
Get here. We are sorry for net derailing this entire
conversation about the women's you know, and if you are
disgusted with that, as I am, it's net at aw
fan hub dot com.

Speaker 9 (58:42):
O god.

Speaker 6 (58:45):
I had with the conversation. So I'm not.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Mad, yes, so you know, yeah, but I'm just saying
for anybody. But it's the i w C NET. You're
gonna get hate bial something wrong exactly.

Speaker 7 (59:08):
Come back as Adam's sister.

Speaker 6 (59:12):
But we don't talk about that. Okay, we don't talk
about that.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
Well, here's something else we probably shouldn't talk about, but
we are going to talk about it. Of course, we
know that Netflix made that purchase. They said they purchased it,
which is so weird that they would say that we
purchased it. Uh, purchase w Warner Brothers. I noticed I
didn't say Warder Brothers, Discovery. But now Paramount is coming

(59:42):
back with a hostile takeover bit of their own. Netflix
is only just the people that don't understand what's going on. Uh,
I've been oversimplified here. Netflix wants to buy Warner Brothers
the stud but they want nothing to do with the TV.

(01:00:03):
The TV part which includes CNN, TBS, t N T
True TV that's gonna be part of Water Brothers Global
or Discovery Global. Okay, Paramount wants to buy the whole shebang.
They want the studios, they want the TV everything, and

(01:00:24):
that's what's different. The concerns with There are concerns with Netflix.
There are concerns with Paramount. I'm gonna put you guys
on the spot, and kay, since your mic is going
absolutely batch it crazy right now, I will go to
you first, and what are your what are your thoughts here?

(01:00:45):
Who'll put you on the spot? Who would you rather see?
Get Warner Brothers or Warner Brothers, Discovery Netflix.

Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
I try to stay away from Netflix much as possible.
There if you thinks I like on there, but Paramount
has some cooler stuff that I'm interested in, So if
they do switch over, it'd be Paramount.

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Okay, Uh, let me go to Barry.

Speaker 5 (01:01:18):
This is such a complicated topic. I think this lose regardless,
AW is fine for their contract, but long term, this
is this isn't good in general.

Speaker 9 (01:01:29):
There's gonna be.

Speaker 5 (01:01:30):
Less it's gonna be less bitters for the next round
of TV. If Paramount gets everything, Netflix isn't going to
pick a w UP because they already have WWE. If
Netflix wins, they're not going to keep AW. You know,
I don't think Paramount is probably going to keep them.

Speaker 9 (01:01:48):
I don't know. I think it's just it's just bad.
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
I've seen a lot of people say that if Netflix
gets this deal, it's going to kill the movie theater
into stree, which I had never thought of, but I
can see kind of see the point.

Speaker 9 (01:02:04):
Yeah, I'll contribute to it. It's not good in general.

Speaker 6 (01:02:08):
Yeah, I mean, you know they were going to when
when it kind of got next, basically said they wanted
to shorten the theatrical released window and get the movies
to streaming and you know, digital release faster. But now

(01:02:28):
they've seemed to go back on that because people were like, Okay,
they're gonna kill movie theaters if they do this. But
you know what, when's the last time any of you
guys went to a movie theater?

Speaker 10 (01:02:40):
Just random May I went.

Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
I went to see Centers in May at the movie theater. Okay, now,
before that it has that bad COVID.

Speaker 6 (01:02:51):
Before three weeks ago, I wou saw Rental Family. But
before that, I mean I hadn't into a theater in months,
Like is movies are? Would it really be such a
bad thing at movie theaters, you know, became less popular,

(01:03:16):
Like I mean, you pay twenty dollars to go see
a movie. You pay thirty dollars for a bucket of
popcorn and a drink. You know, look Covide three new movies.

Speaker 8 (01:03:32):
I love to kill blocks, so.

Speaker 12 (01:03:36):
But yeah, that's like kill blocks.

Speaker 5 (01:03:39):
I I have some education in this area, initially studied
going into it. I have several friends in the entertainment industry,
all of which are really questioning their long term career aspects.
In general that the problem with movie theaters is that
home theaters are too good now.

Speaker 9 (01:04:00):
And I don't mean that in a bad way.

Speaker 5 (01:04:02):
The spectacle of going to movies has been diminished because
everybody at home can put together a cinema ready product
and have access to pretty.

Speaker 9 (01:04:11):
Much any movie they want on demand forever.

Speaker 5 (01:04:15):
I don't think movie theaters going away as a good thing,
because I enjoy movies. There are some films that are
still going to be directed for a long time with
people who have a vision that this needs to be
seen in the giant screen. The scope is designed to
be seen at that scale. It doesn't have the same
impact on a home screen, even if it's seventy five inches.
I understand directors saying that I have people I know

(01:04:36):
that do that for a living, But to your point,
this is just indicative of broader problems with the entertainment
industry in general. Yeah, I mean a bigger topic than
we can cover in this show. But like, well, there's
a reason movie theaters aren't as popular because we can
get almost as good at home.

Speaker 9 (01:04:53):
Go ahead.

Speaker 6 (01:04:54):
Yeah, I love movies too. I am a huge movie
I know. I have my like watching movies, probably more
than I stood. You know, there's movies I can quote
line by line and re December. I have my Christmas
movie list. I just and yet you know there are
some that you've got to go see them in the theater,

(01:05:17):
but it's becoming few and fewer, and the prices just
keep getting higher and higher. You know, I have a
decent TV. I've got a really comfortable chair. If I
want to go to the bathroom, I can hit pause,
you know, without what without being like, oh man, when

(01:05:37):
should I go? Can I go right now?

Speaker 8 (01:05:39):
You know?

Speaker 6 (01:05:40):
I can. I can make to myself a full meal
or order a pizza for less than it cost to
get a bucket of popcorn and a dream. It's it. Yeah,
it's one of those where like movie theaters need to
adapt or they're going to die, and it's their own fault.

Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
Yeah, you know, I kind of have the same kind
of thoughts as Barry does. For me when I go
to a movie. I'm not going to go to a
movie theater to watch something that has the same effect
on a big screen as it would on the small screen.
I've got a really nice setup at home with you know,
a big screen TV and some round sound and all

(01:06:23):
and whatnot. I'm not gonna go to a movie theater
and watch I don't know, Shakespeare in Love Part two.
There's not a lot of spectacle to that, you know
what I mean. I would go to a movie theater
to see something like Godzilla I'm a dude, you know,
or something you know, along the lines of a science

(01:06:44):
big science fiction movie. But I'm not gonna go to
a movie see theater to see Doubton Abbey stuff, you know.
But that's I think that's the problem. And I think
COVID kind of got us used to watching do or
release at home. I really do believe that. Well.

Speaker 7 (01:07:05):
I think that if Netflix gets the package, be honest,
I would love to see Tony Kong get the rest
of it, take the TV, get the TV deal, put
it in his own hands. He's got the money that way,
he doesn't have to worry about it anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
And they can.

Speaker 7 (01:07:23):
They can do He can do whatever he wants to
do with anything.

Speaker 9 (01:07:28):
Do you understand the amount of money involved? Like Tony
can't just buy this, like.

Speaker 13 (01:07:35):
I mean they can leverage, ye, the non Tony Khan's
got to like two and a half billion of his
own money and Chad CON's got twelve billion, Like not
only in couldn't their own money they own They own
an NFL franchise which is half the market cap of
WWE by itself, And that's not even counting their their
interests in the Premier League.

Speaker 10 (01:07:56):
That's paper money, that's liquid matter off, it's pay for money.
All people do is borrow. Now, this is all it is.

Speaker 4 (01:08:03):
Like this is the whole like bubble in the market
thing about the stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:08:10):
See the cons buying a dying TV industry like cable's dying.

Speaker 6 (01:08:14):
Like Netflix's offer was something like I don't know the
exact numbers, but I'm just gonna say, you know, I'm
ballparking here. Netflix Is offer for the movie stuff was
sixty billion. I think it was ridiculously by paramount for

(01:08:35):
ed for the movie and TV is offering eighty. That
means the TV is valued at a third of what
the movie is at twenty billion. The college do not
have twenty billion dollars. They need.

Speaker 10 (01:08:57):
Show up and have to write a check.

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
Keeping keep in mind that Paramount sky Dance also doesn't
have that money they have they are doing it as
a investment group.

Speaker 16 (01:09:12):
Like a W is so irrelevant in this mix because
Larry Ellison and getting control of CNN and all these
other things would be like, we need to tell.

Speaker 10 (01:09:26):
This are it's just a disaster.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Let's I do want to say. I do want to
say one more thing to whoever said that Tony Kahn
should buy Discovery Global. I would pay group money to
see CNA and run by Tony Khan. I mean the
anchors would all have to sit there and scream at
the top of their lungs without blinking.

Speaker 9 (01:09:53):
You get some in there.

Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
Anderson Cooper has a Lucan match in the middle of
the show, all right, yeah versus Scara Doata.

Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
Yep, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 6 (01:10:04):
I would Finally, if that happens.

Speaker 11 (01:10:09):
Serious commentators on to wrestle, you know, you're your wife,
people and everything just.

Speaker 9 (01:10:21):
Calling a Luta match. Come man, breaking news.

Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Everything is breaking news. That's what my pet Pee would
see it at breaking news. We're repeating the same thing
we said five minutes ago when it broke. Oh my god. Anyway,
let's go on. It's breaking, still still breaking after four days.
Let's go to our Pope per resection, where we talk
about anything that has to do we're professional wrestling, not

(01:10:47):
including Warner Brothers, Discovery, Discovery Global, Netflix or Paramount Sky Dance.
Breaking anybody else, breaking breaking news, Winter is coming, Yes,
very very well said. Anybody, do you have somebody just
oh my gosh, there's just so much going on in

(01:11:08):
the background. Breaking news anyway, anyway, Uh, anybody have a
pot pourri?

Speaker 8 (01:11:18):
I do real quick.

Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
I want to take congrag lations to John Cena on
his on his last match. I'm really proud of Tony
Kahan from moving, uh closing down because.

Speaker 8 (01:11:34):
So that people could see it. And he's he he.

Speaker 3 (01:11:37):
Is one of the best in wrestling, like him or not,
like it's wrestling or not, he's one of the greatest.
And I'm really glad he's in ending his career on
a high note.

Speaker 10 (01:11:48):
Well said, hardly shocking. Good for w w E card too.
In those four matches, shocking breaking news.

Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
Uh, one of the I thought one of the curious
little bits I saw on TV this week was, uh,
my World and high.

Speaker 10 (01:12:10):
End and matching gear. If they end up getting hired.

Speaker 4 (01:12:14):
Out of this, it's gonna be one of the funniest
things to ever happen in the history of this company.

Speaker 9 (01:12:19):
I saw a box stage, I was dying.

Speaker 5 (01:12:22):
I'm like, oh, there they are again, and they have
the same gear on.

Speaker 4 (01:12:26):
Yeah, and like Sophia Chavon, who's at Restler, I think
Canada somewhere was in that too, but uh, the specifically
they have been Like I've been on the sign high
both these girls for a long time. Like I thought
My World was a really good prospect, Like back Covid,
she was really really impressive kind of person. I feel

(01:12:46):
like they should be invested in, but also high end,
like I feel like one of the sort of There's
been a couple kind of missteps with the women's division,
but one of them was not just bringing back everybody
from Ringham Honor. When they bought it, they had a
great women's Rosstrea was one of the main strengths of
the company, and most of those people have ended up
in aw since then, and Heien was one of those

(01:13:07):
people and it's just it's kind of crazy it's taking
this song, but I would think.

Speaker 10 (01:13:11):
They're they're great pickups. Like if that does happen.

Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
You have to be honest with you. Is when we
were doing the nominations for tag teams, how Will said
high in my world as sets and giggles. But uh,
but they could get there. They really could anybody else
with the pot pourri.

Speaker 6 (01:13:34):
Well, since it's all wrestling not eight w New Japan
Pro Wrestling World Tag League, the first semi final match
will be taking place in about well, the show will
start in about six and a half hours. The semi
final match will be in about eight and a half hours.

(01:13:58):
You know, I don't want to spoil it for anyone
who hasn't been watching, but you know, I feel like
if you haven't been watching, you're probably not gonna care
about spoilers. Tonight, fischemon Uh the top team from a
block faces Rio he Oli how we struggle with his name,

(01:14:21):
Rio Ola Oiwa and Zach Saber Junior. And then on
the twelfth, it is a battle of well three war
dogs and one unaffiliated as the Knockout Brothers take on
Dave Kid and Yo Tasuki, who will be challenging. Kenoski

(01:14:43):
Takeshta for the i w TP Heavyweight title at Wrestle Kingdom,
So maybe kind of already spoiled that match about who's winning,
you know, but yeah, and then the finals are on Sunday. Yeah,

(01:15:06):
so World Tag League if you haven't been watching, but
you want to see the semifinals and the final match.
December tenth, December twelfth, December fourteenth.

Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
Yeah, I don't know that there's a guy in New
Japan since Jay White that has made me immediately just
fall in love with him so hard. As you know, Ie,
that guy is phenomenal. He is somebody. I just love
that somebody is like really leaning into that ironhead thing,
which is kind of missing with that generation retiring. Somebody
referred to him as juggler Fujiita. I was like, oh god,

(01:15:45):
that's fantastic. That's exactly what he is. Like, He's he's
like a Gouberd like version of the of that generation
guys Like I just really really like him, and him
and Oscar have just been really funny so much.

Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 17 (01:15:58):
I mean I was a fan of to them when
they were young lions, and unfortunately most of their excursion
was in the UK, so I wasn't able to really
keep up with them.

Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
I saw a handful of matches and they really they
really grew during their excursion and since they've come back
they have been on a tear and yeah, you know,
you know, Ice is one of those really interesting characters,
like he's like it's basically a bad, crazy drug dealer

(01:16:35):
and his German bodyguard. But a crazy drug dealer is
also a freaking beast and just a crazy fighter. And
you know, I love the bum books that knee he does. Yeah,
they're they're a fantastic team. I wouldn't be surprised if
they win the whole thing, as they've had a really good,

(01:17:00):
good World Tag League. I think they finished four and three,
So you know, should they come out as should they
win World Tag late, they have challengers are ready and
you know, if they don't win World Tag League, but
do keep the titles at Russell Kingdom. They've got they've

(01:17:22):
got three challengers ready to go, including Monster Sauce, Land
Starcher and Alex Sing.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Well, I'm familiar with them good. I was just gonna
say that I'm familiar with you Guce, but he's no
Adam called go ahead Barry.

Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
So it is, well, it is Continental Classic season. There's
also the tail end of Survivors series war Game season,
and so I, inspired by all of the war game
style matches, recently did a little fun poking around YouTube
from some of the wargame matches from the past, and
Wrestle War ninety two I landed on and I really

(01:18:07):
wanted to tell folks I put this in the Classics
Wrestling Discord channel. It's I think it's about twenty five minutes.
Entrances were real short, so the match itself was probably
twenty two or twenty three minutes, and I thought it
was just a really really great example of how you
can do a wargames match with a ton of heat.
The crowd in Jacksonville was electric for everybody who went

(01:18:27):
in there. Each of the faces and the heels did
exactly what they need to do to keep the heat
and the buzz going. It just had super super heat
and it was a great way to show how you
can do a wargamesmatch that doesn't need to be forty
five minutes long. Like once it went into the match beyond,
you had a cup two three four minutes left, and
it was the culmination of something that had been set
up before it once to the match beyond that led

(01:18:50):
to somebody submitting, and I just thought it's a great
It's a great, great war game. So it's also a
really interesting match because it's right before a lot of
talent starts to move between WCWA and WWS. When you
had some folks leave to go over there, then they
would later turn into big stars like Steve Aouston and
a couple other players that would have some interesting storylines
as well. So if you haven't checked it out, Russell

(01:19:12):
Ward ninety two the War Games match, it's a it's
a quick quick watch on YouTube, about twenty five minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
I will definitely check that out because I have heard
what war games happened. I did. People were talking about
previously no past war games, and some of them were
very beloved. This last one not so much. Does anybody
else have a potpri song called leeds.

Speaker 9 (01:19:37):
Buckets in that mash Man?

Speaker 11 (01:19:40):
I have a question maybe you all can help me with. Okay,
So this past weekend, GCW was in Seattle. I didn't
go to the show, but I watched it, and then
I watched them the next night in LA.

Speaker 12 (01:19:59):
They're the highest in the Room.

Speaker 11 (01:20:01):
I think that show was called So while I was
watching those, Joey Janella was in both shows.

Speaker 9 (01:20:09):
He had matches.

Speaker 11 (01:20:11):
It made me wonder why, out of people that Tony
Khan has had disagreements with and he's forgiven, like Leo
Rush for example, when he's back on AW, back on
the show Everything's Fun, what happened between Tony Khan and
Joey Janella that they haven't kissed and made up yet?

Speaker 12 (01:20:36):
Does anyone know?

Speaker 8 (01:20:39):
I don't know his girlfriend's here, so I don't know.

Speaker 18 (01:20:41):
Yeah, yeah, even before maybe Joey, but maybe Joey Jenella
just simply enjoys.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
Yeah, I've I've heard him say nothing good things about
Tony and he enjoyed his time here. But I think
he's he's kind of done with AW, doesn't want to
be chained down, and likes likes gc W.

Speaker 6 (01:21:06):
Yeah, I was just wondering they had a disagreement or anything.
I think it's more he likes working in the indies,
and I think he looks for maybe a few indie
companies or is at least part of the you know,
maybe like booking committee for some or like I think

(01:21:31):
he has a hand in a few indie promotions, so
it's probably like he, Yeah, he chose to stick with
those and work with them instead of being you know,
a W and maybe having to miss some of those
shows because they want him to do a random match

(01:21:53):
in a W like you know, it's kind of like
one of those. He probably felt like he was never
going to be a top guy there. He was always
going to be a mid card, you know, they use
them kind of jobber to the stars role, so he'd
rather work with those indecent doing that stuff. Yeah, I

(01:22:17):
don't think there was any kind of animosity between him
and Tony Tong.

Speaker 11 (01:22:23):
I thought there was because there was that controversy that
Joey Janella had. He hurt Sonny Kiss really bad. I
think he hurt Eddie Kingston and a lot of people
were saying they didn't want to work with him. So
I always got the impression that there was something that

(01:22:44):
went on backstage that maybe we weren't all privileged to
and he kind of just disappeared.

Speaker 5 (01:22:55):
If I recall, And I could be wrong here, but
I believe he said in some interviews like he understands
why AW let him go, And there wasn't like animosity
like he owned up to what had caused that. I
don't remember the specifics of backstage heat and AW, but
and I could be wrong here. I thought it was

(01:23:17):
something he did at an indie show, or something that
happened around an indie show. He was working while doing
something with AW that was inappropriate. I don't remember what,
And again I could be completely wrong on that and misremembering,
but I'm pretty sure he had said an interview like
he understood why they had to part ways and owned
up whatever it caused that. So I think it's just

(01:23:38):
the case, like others said, it's just better if they
just keep working on their own, you know.

Speaker 11 (01:23:42):
Yeah, I've just been wondering. I like Joey Janella and
I miss him on TV, so I've been wondering what
it was that was keeping him out of AEW.

Speaker 12 (01:23:53):
So, okay, thanks guys.

Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
All right then, well that's going to be the show
for tonight. Thank you for listening, Thank you for coming. Guys.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
