Speaker 1 (00:00):
And nine Cognition six five four three two one zero,
all engine running.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
It's Tuesday. You know what that means. It's time for
Ignition with the AAW fan Hut podcast team. This is
Kelson and we are broadcasting to you live tonight, as
we do every Tuesday night at eight forty five pm
Eastern on x and Twitch Night. We are less than
twenty four hours away from the aw Fright Night Dynamite.
(00:44):
We have three big matches with title implications. We have
a four way match to determine who will face hang
Man Adam Page at full gear for the aw Men's
World Championship, and also a four way match to determine
who will face Brodido at full gear for the AEW
Ben's World Tag Team Championship. But first we have the
(01:04):
opening match in the Women's World Tag Team Tournament, featuring
the Sisters of Sin taking on Jamie Hayter and Queen Amanada. Guys,
let's talk about this match, not only about this match,
but also about like the entire bracket and what we expected.
I know, net you would point it out like Billy
(01:26):
Starks as being missing from this. So let's talk about
the AEW Women's World Tag team Tournament Net. Who did
you say was missing?
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Billy Starks is missing, and I feel like she should
be in there.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
I don't know who she can partner with because Nathena
is busy doing her own thing, but I really feel
like Billy should have gotten a chance to go for
this championship. I was watching her this weekend and.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
It escapes me. But she won two titles this weekend
at the g c W.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
J c W uh matches they had on and I
like her overall ever since she debuted in a W.
I've seen her before on the indies, and I just
feel like she deserves a shot like everybody else.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Well, you know, the title that she did win was
the j c W World Championship, not the women's. She'd
beat Charles. She beat Charles Mason to become the j
c W World Champion.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Awesome and yeah, and she won that, like that legacy championship.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
But I've better, Butcher, it's a Luna. How do you
pronounce her last name? I always, yeah, Ludavia, Luda. I
don't know, it's I'm sorry, I mean the idiot. That
is just one of the names that I always trip over.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
We always I don't know why when she used to
wrestle back in the day, we used to call her
Vacon or something like that, because you could you never
knew every one of the announcers wouldn't pronounce it differently.
But I think it's Sean is the way they actually
say it.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
Okay, well let's get back, I mean, okay, so Billy Starks,
is there anybody else that do you think maybe missing
from the tournament? From the from the women's tag team tournament?
Speaker 6 (03:30):
Red Velvet didn't she just come back?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
She did just come back, Okay, I mean yeah, Red
Velvets is another name.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
I honestly don't think there's anyone missing from the tournament.
Because it's such a small number of teams. You put
the only teams you really had a room for in
the tournament. I mean, you know, you can talk about
Billy Starks should have been in there, Red Velvet should
have been in there. The problem with Very Velvet being
in there is she just came back and they weren't
(04:01):
sure she was going to be back in time for
it anyway, So instead of making room for her and
then having something keep her from coming back, they put
the best eight teams they could put in it. That's
just how I see it.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah, I mean, I think the eight teams that they
have in it are edit for a purpose, for a reason,
and we're going to talk about that, but first I
want to get everybody's impression about the opening match. Julia
Hart and Sky Blue the Sisters of Sin against Jamie
Hayter and Queen Amanada. Who do you have winning this match?
Speaker 6 (04:34):
I'm gonna say it's a tough call, but I would
probably go with the Sisters of Sin if worst comes
to worst. There's nothing saying Bechela can't run in and
help them, help them win, you know, their heels, they
might as well cheat.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Yeah, I think it'll go a long way to whoever
wins this match will lose the match the bloods and Guts, Matt,
Is that what it is?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, but we're okay, we're talking about the tournament.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
I know. But since these two are the teams that
the arrivals that are going to be in the Blood
and Guts match, I think whoever wins this match will
lose that match when it comes down the road. You know,
I would love to see the Sisters of Sain win it,
but I don't think they're gonna do that I think
it's gonna be Queen Almanada and uh yeah, I think
(05:28):
that's who's gonna win Asho.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Else time, let's go to you. Who do you think
is going to win this match?
Speaker 7 (05:34):
I'm gonna go with Jamie Hayter and Queen Almanada for
the simple reason that I think uh Athena and Mercedes
will win their match, and that's who the next matchup
would be, So you won't you know, face for a steel,
So I'm gonna go with them.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
All right, Matt, let's hear from you.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I think Hater and Queen Almanada will win. I don't
I agree with the Heel versus Heel probably isn't gonna
gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
And I don't know if I've kept this secret or not,
but I don't like the Sisters of Sin, so.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
I don't want to see them win.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
You're not supposed to like them.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Well good, because I I didn't like them separately, I
don't like them together. So they just they don't get no,
they don't get.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Over on me.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Okay, well, Marcus, let's go to you.
Speaker 8 (06:35):
I'm gonna pick. I'm gonna pick Sisters of Sin.
Speaker 9 (06:40):
After coming after that, I just think that they're gonna
want to give someone kind of I don't want to
say an upset win, but a win that you may
not see coming. And I like Jamie Hayter and Queen Almanada,
but I think they'll have some miscommunication in this match that'll.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Give you know, I kind of want to address something
that Sutton said. Something you said that the winner this
match is going to lose blood and guts. I have
a different take on that. If you remember, Jmi Hayter
and Queen Amanada won the four Way last week and
they selected the Sisters of Sinister opponents. I believe by
(07:25):
winning the four Way, Queene Amanada and Jamie Hater are
destined to lose against Sisters of Sin. That's just the
way the things work in AW. So I'm going with
the Sisters of Sin. And this, by the way, did
any of you happen to watch the CMLL CMLLL When
(07:49):
I tried to say that best I trip over my
tongue so badly the CMLL Women's Grand Prix from what
was it Friday night or Saturday night? Did anybody see that?
I'm sorry? Okay, we speak English. We speak English. Year,
thank you. Let's not. Let's not let's not be let's
(08:12):
not be racist. Now, come on, I busted your chops.
Come on.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
But yes, I did watch the Women's Grand Free It was.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
It was a great though. That match was that mat yeah,
I mean, for those of you who did not see it,
the match was nine women from cml L against nine
women from Team World. And on Team World were all
of the Triangle of Madness and all let's see, we
(08:53):
had Hazukima from from uh Stardom, we had from TJPWMLW.
Mina Shi Kawo was also there as well as Diamante
representing roh Kanji just a lot and the Triangle Madness
(09:16):
on the on the Team worldside dominated, they absolutely dominated.
Tecla actually ended up in the final two against Persepite
Techla eventually lost, which makes sense. But you know, Skyblue
(09:38):
did really well. Julia Hart, I mean, Julia Hart was
a wrecking ball that match. She was the only person
in the match that required double teams to take her down.
Everybody else was. It was a very clean match that
lasted fifty six plus minutes. But Julia Hart got she
(10:00):
was on fire. She was in her element. That was
her type of match. Sky Blue got a couple of
big eliminations herself. It was just a really cool match.
I hope that they make it available for viewing down
the line because it is such a cool concept. Would
you agree time that the concept of that match is
(10:21):
really cool?
Speaker 7 (10:22):
Oh yeah, I really, It's like a It's like a
weird Survivor Series Lucia Leebray match, just even bigger and
phrase eager.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yeah. I loved every second. I just loved it. Anyway,
I think that took place on Saturday night. I'm not sure,
but anyway, the next Triangle Madness as a team wrestled
in CMLL and and one. You know, So my point
here is is that Triangle Madness is kind of on
(10:57):
a roll right now, and I really don't think that
Sky and Julie are gonna lose on fright night Dynamite.
Now beyond that, I mean, we've got other teams of
course in this tournament. Who do you guys see being
in the finals and ultimately the winner of the inaugural
(11:18):
Women's Tag Team Tournament and become the aw Women's World
Tag Team Champions.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
I said it last week and I am sticking with it.
Those two lovely ladies you see on the graphic there,
Tony Storm and Nina Shirakawa. I think they're going to
take it all.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
All right, Well, let's go to Marcus. Marcus, who do
you think is going to win this?
Speaker 8 (11:42):
I've been going back and forth with this.
Speaker 9 (11:44):
I went through a couple of different names, and it's
a couple of teams that I like. But I'm going
to say that Megan Bain and Penelope Florida.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Interesting, Sutton, Let's go to you, buddy.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
I think the finals are going to be Mina and
Storm versus unfortunately Monette and Company. And I think I'm
hoping that Tony and them win.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Okay, who else hasn't gone yet? Anybody I haven't? Okay, Nett,
what are your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (12:16):
I agree with Marcus. I think Megan Bain and Penelope Ford.
I think it's on them. Don't underestimate them.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, I don't think you could. I don't think that
there is a clear they're not gonna win in this
tournament other than Alex winsor Riho they have. They just
seem like they were just plugged in. I'm sorry, but
that's what it seems like to me. But when you
look at it, they have not been shown on camera
(12:45):
together while every other team has been You know what
I mean. I mean the weeks leading up to this tournament,
Alex winsor in Reo just don't make any sense. But
I'm gonna say something here I do not believe. I
mean the common consensus and dread I think is that
(13:08):
it's going to be Mercedes Mone and Athena on one
side of the bracket against Tony Storm, Mina Shi Kaal
on the other side of the bracket. I'm gonna make
two predictions here. One of those teams is gonna fall,
probably Mercedes Mone and Athena, because I don't think that
they can work together as a team. I think they're
gonna set up something down the road against each other
(13:35):
instead of winning a championship together. The other prediction I'm
gonna make is I do think that Tony Storm and
Mina Shire cower to get to the finals and they
are not going to win. I personally think, I personally
think that the winner tomorrow Night's matchup Right Night Dynamite
(13:57):
between Julia Harten's Blue and Jamie Hater and Queen Amanada
are going to be your inaugural women's tag team champions
and here's the reason why this tournament is not like
the owen Hart or to SEE two. It's not an
end all to be all. You know, it's not okay,
(14:20):
we're the champion and that's that. Of course the C
two isn't like that, But the owen Hart is. This
is a belt. This is a title that needs to
be defended. And when you look at it, why would
you put arguably your best team as champions, put a
(14:43):
surprise team as champions and then work up from there
instead of putting your best team as champions and working down.
Does that make sense?
Speaker 5 (14:54):
I get what you're saying, but the problem I have
with that is it sounds good, but that's not normally
how they do it. They usually will want, like when
you have a tournament to win it a first time belt,
almost always it's the best team that wins it because
you want to reps. You want your your first winner
(15:17):
to be the representation of your best team. So that's
what they usually do. I like what you're thinking, I do,
but I just I don't know. I just got a
feeling that's going to be put on Storm and shir Kala.
I would rather be telling them than anybody else.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
No, I agree with if you're going to do the
best team, you're going to definitely do Storm in Shri Kala.
But you know, one of the things that I saw,
you know, a lot of in the on the AW
fanom subreddit, was a lot of fantasy booking of this
tournament before the brackets were even even announced. A lot
of people were bringing in teams from Stardom and from
(15:57):
you know, Progressling Eve and from cml L and none
of that happened. This is an AEW tournament. When you
think about it, doesn't it make sense that the first
championshould be AW not even have somebody from other promotions
stuck in there. I mean a lot of people wanted
sixteen teams, we got eight, And upon reflection, I think
(16:19):
this is a good idea. I think this is the
proper way doing it. I really do. But anyway, that's
my thoughts on that. Let's move on because you've got
two other four way matches on the card, to the
first being the four way Tag Team Championship match. Now,
(16:44):
this one is pitting FDR, the Young Bucks Jet Speed
who are on the Graphic and Jurassic Express. The winner
of that match goes to Full Gear it gets an
opportunity to face Brodido for the aw Men's World Tag
(17:05):
I guess we have to call it Men's Men's World
Tag Team Champion Championship. A couple of questions here, because
we also have another four away match coming up, but
I want to address this on this one. We're just
talking about this four away match. Now. Do you like
these four ways as kind of like an eliminated match
(17:26):
to determine the uh, you know, the number one contender?
And or do you? And if you do, do you
think they need to build them up more? Also? You know,
who do you have in this match? I'm you know,
going to full gear to face Brodido?
Speaker 6 (17:44):
I personally do I think? I know Multiman matches aren't
everyone's cup of tea, but I really love them. I
think the more variables there are in a match, the
more wild and crazy things can get, can get really exciting. Yeah,
though maybe a little more build up would be nice.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
I would like to see them actually make this an
elimination match, you know it, don't just have but one
fall to a winner. Do it like they used to
do when they'd have these kind of matches, Because honestly,
how many times a week do we see multiman matches
all the damn time, and it's always right. You know,
(18:24):
you gotta make them. If you're gonna put a title
shot on the line, you gotta add something to it.
You can't just go we're gonna throw these four teams
in there, and one of them is gonna win. You
need to give something to it to make it different,
because it just to me, it just doesn't have you know,
it's just another match it you know, finish. I figured
(18:45):
that it's gonna come down to either Jet Speed or
Jurassic Express. I think the Bucks and FTR are going
to eliminate each other outside the ring and keep each
other busy outside so that one of those two teams win.
But I don't really think. I don't really think it
matters he wins this match, because I don't see any
(19:06):
of these teams beaten Brodido at full gear.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Well one other things, Sutton that I want to mention
and correct me if I'm wrong, because you know I'm wrong.
A lot didn't when Brodido defended at Russell Dream. Sucking
mute when Brodido defended at Russell Dream, was that that
wasn't their opponent. Also determined by one of these four
(19:33):
way eliminator matches. Yes, no, I.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
Think so, I don't remember. I think you might be right, though.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Yeah, my my problem with this, you know, and Jess,
I don't mind. I'm one of the ones that don't
like multi man matches, but Jess, I don't mind them
that they're if they're meaningful, you know, I and I
don't consider oh, we're gonna put five hundred thousand dollars
on the line meaningful because because it's not. I'm sorry
(20:02):
it's not.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
But anyway, particular storyline though in the particular store coming up,
they are meaningful because the bucks are broke, the noe bucks.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Yeah, the no bucks. But my point is is that
I do like it when they do have the eliminators
for a match out of pay per view. However, I
do worry that it is being overdone. That's my point.
Let's go to net. What do you have to.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Say like these kinds of matches? But I would agree
that they're not building it up enough. There's no hyper
excitement to it. It's just the same format, the same
teams doing the exact same things we've seen them do.
(20:51):
So I would like to see it somehow be a
little bit different. I do have Jet Speed for winning,
though I agree that the Bucks and FTR are their.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Own worst enemies.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
And it's really funny some of the things the young
Bucks have been doing since they lost their their stature
as the founding fathers, and I don't know, I'm just
silly that way. I would like them to see them
play on that more. There was nothing funnier when they
were knocking on Tony Kahan's door like lunatics. So I
(21:31):
wish they would play it up a bit more when
they do those money matches and when they do matches
like this in general.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
So that's my take on it.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yeah, I mean everybody else we did. I mean, thank
you NEP for making a prediction on who you think
is going to win this match, because I don't think
anybody else did yet. So let's let's hear people's thoughts.
Let's let's let's hear put people on the spot. Let's
her predictions.
Speaker 10 (21:56):
Jurassic Express Express fr So Time said, FDR, Marcus said
jet Speed, Sutton and Jess said Jurassic Express Net said
jet Speed.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Right. Yes, I'm going with the Bucks. I think it's
been far too long that they have. Look, they're working
their butts off putting people over. But as I think
I said last week, you can't put people over, put
people over, lose every damn time to in order to
(22:37):
put yourself in a position where you're not putting people over,
putting people over anymore, you're just losers that are losing,
you know what I mean. I think that they've got
the better I mean the meeting the Bucks. I think
the Bucks have to get a big win in order
to be able to put people over some more. And
so I do think that they're going to win this
(22:57):
match now, whether they go to full gear and actually when,
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
You know what, I think the Bucks problem is in
this storytelling, and I don't think things will ever be
okay for them until they make up with Kenny Omega.
I think that's what's holding them back exactly. Yeah, I
think that's it. They'll never be right until they make up.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
And they keep trying, but they keep getting interrupted.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Yeah, yeah, something.
Speaker 6 (23:34):
Trying.
Speaker 8 (23:35):
Have they even said sorry?
Speaker 3 (23:39):
No?
Speaker 7 (23:40):
So, I mean, can you really say they're trying?
Speaker 5 (23:45):
Well?
Speaker 6 (23:45):
They keep trying to talk to them, but every time
they try to get a word and something happens.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
Yeah, something interrupts them. They just they got to make
up with Kenny.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
That's the key.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Well, Kenny is minus a golden lover, so he needs
I'm buddy to love.
Speaker 11 (24:02):
That's right, that's true, and it's true.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
At least he didn't sing it.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
At least I kind of agree that they need to
make up with Kenny. But I don't think it's gonna
happen like anytime real soon, because that's a story onto
its own self, because Kenny's got a lot of to
be pissed off with them about. And it's not something
that you can just say, oh, we're sorry, you know
(24:38):
what I mean. It's got to be it's gotta be
a storyline, and it could be a good way to
have a Bucks redemption with that. But I just I
think it's gonna be after full gear before they'll even
come close to starting that.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
They could.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
They need to hint at it because they thought that
having money was going to solve all their problems.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
Then they lost their money. The problems are still there.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
They need to somehow develop one of them saying no,
what I think our real problem is and kind of
look off in the distance and Kenny is there and
just kind of drop hints about it and build, build
and build and build until they actually do find a
(25:25):
way to apologize and make things right.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
You know what I want to see happen that, Honest
to god, I want to see somebody like Hangman, Adam
Page or Darby Allen give the young Bucks one of
those fake lottery scratch off tickets and they win like
two million dollars, They lose their minds, they.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Going back to being cocky and rude.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Yeah, and that they follow them to the convenience story
where they try to cash it in or whatever. Obviously
you can't cast something like that at at a convenience store,
but you know whatever, just to see I just think
that would be funny. I am a sick, sick person. Yes,
(26:14):
I know. It's something that I would do in real life.
Because my ex wife, she bought a lot She didn't
buy scratch off. She bought lottery tickets like every week,
and she had a notebook and every night, every night
before they did the lottery drawing, she would write down
how she was going to suspend, how she was going
(26:35):
to spend all the money. I'm going to buy your
mama house, my mama house. This person a car whatever, right,
and then she was genuinely devastated when she did not
win the lottery whatever. Speaking of winning the lottery, we've
got another four way match to determine a number one contender.
(27:00):
It's like another lottery really when you think about it,
that's what this is. And this is for the opportunity
at Full Gear to face Hangman Adam Page for the
aw Men's World Champion. And that match is Bobby Lashley
versus Ricochet versus Samoa, Joe versus Hook. This one is
(27:26):
really weird to me. I'm really anxious to hear what
you guys have to say about this match and who
do you think is going to win and go on
to face Hangman Adam Page at Bull Gear.
Speaker 6 (27:42):
Well, Full Gear happens to be taking place on my birthday.
I will be writing up my booking decisions and sending
them to sending them to Tony Kahan shortly because being
in my birthday, he has to abide by everything I say.
It's my birthday, it's the room. But as for this
four lay, it is kind of a weird mix of people.
(28:03):
I mean, Joe, that just happened, so I don't I'm
not sure if he's gonna win unless we're gonna do
a two for right away? Uh, Bobby Lashley, that could
have some promise. That could be a fun match.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Yeah, I but do you have a Do you have
a definitive winner for dismatch it bright Night Dynamite?
Speaker 5 (28:25):
No.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
I think it's probably gonna be either Bobby or Joe,
though I can't really just decide which one. It could
go either way. I think, all right, well.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Who else has a has a thought about this?
Speaker 7 (28:39):
I ain't sure who's gonna win, but I know who's
gonna lose.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Hook has taking that pin.
Speaker 7 (28:43):
That's the whole reason that boy's there.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
So Hook, you heard it from Marcus, Hook is taking
the pinch.
Speaker 5 (28:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
I do not see Hook winning this match. He is
not a contender. And I I have I I have
to Marcus.
Speaker 5 (28:59):
Yeah, it was that was time. I was like, who's
he talking about?
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Markets?
Speaker 5 (29:02):
For wait a minute? That was time? That was time.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Now, that was time. I don't know why he said,
Marcus or whatever. I told you. I'm telling you, man,
you know, don't get old.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
It's gonna be It's gonna be an upset. You all
wanted to see an upset victory in a match. This
is gonna be the one. I think Cook's gonna win it.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Okay, I just saying, what's Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
I see Ricochet cheating to win.
Speaker 7 (29:34):
I was thinking the same thing. Honestly, I'd like for
to win. He's who I would pick to win out
of those three. I just think him and Hangman would
have a fun match. And we've already seen Joe. I
think we can wait a little, you know, let that go.
And I just don't know about lastly, I don't know
(29:56):
if he I don't know how him and hang Man
would match up.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
I think they would be fine. I mean, I really do.
Who hasn't got anybody's not me to the actual Marcus.
Speaker 9 (30:11):
This is a full way that different from the other
one where I don't think this full weight actually makes
sense as far as the competitors. But in this match,
I don't think we're gonna get a winner. I think
we're gonna end up with like a triple threat at
the pay per view or something like that.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Oh god, okay, where's the where where's the kick button
on this thing?
Speaker 4 (30:40):
I just here's a wild theory, though. Who is mentoring
Hook our all time favorite wrestler forever? So there's a
little twist there.
Speaker 6 (30:55):
Yep, yep, I'm gonna put that in my booking Listen,
I'm going to tell I'm going to tell a TK
just throw this out the number one continue now, Eddie Kingston,
there you go.
Speaker 8 (31:08):
Watching Full Gear.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah, well, I think I think that. I think personally,
I think personally that.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
I think it's going to be Somemoa Joe that wins
this match. That's who My what my head says, my
heart says Ricochet. I'd like to see Ricochet because we've
already seen Samoa Joe and Hangman Adam Paige at a
pay per view.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
But then again, I said the same thing about what
was it two or three years ago when Hangman Adam Paige,
John Moxley, We're having match after match after match, and
I said, I really don't want to see Hangman Adam
Paige and John Moxley at this pay per view, and
then they went on to have one of those matches
(32:01):
that literally had to be drooling. There was a pool
of saliva on my shirt watching this match. So if
it is someone with Joe and Hangman Adam Paige, it's
probably gonna be good. It's probably gonna be good.
Speaker 9 (32:22):
That will give me a signal that they're not going
to main event again and there'll be a different match
that's the main event.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Well, if they're not going to main event, if Hangman
doesn't have the main event, it would definitely be Monette
and Statlander a full gear that would be your main
event if you're going to have anything other than the
world title.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
I leaning, well, yeah, I don't know. I don't know
about that. Let's let's shift gears. Who was it that
said that Hook may have a mentor? That was me,
that was net You know what, when you said that,
that immediately brought up something. What's that Chris Jericho could
(33:08):
be Hook's mentor, and that would be something that that
actually makes sense, you know. You know, look, there's been
some talk about Chris Jericho going to WWE, and of course, look,
some people junker. How long has it been since Jericho
(33:33):
has been off TV? It seems like at least six
or seven months February there, Okay, so about seven months,
you know, yeah, I mean, he hasn't been on TV
for a long time. Speculation is that he's going to WWE.
(33:53):
Whether he goes to WWE or not, I don't know,
But let's talk about Chris Jericho. I know some of
us pointing fingers at myself got a little bit tired
of watching him on TV doing the same thing week
after week. But I can't deny that Chris Jericho has
(34:16):
been one of the top stars of AW since its inception.
He was the first AW Men's World Champion. Nobody can
deny that he's a workhorse. What are your guys' thoughts
on Chris Jericho and his run in AAW. I mean, Frank,
(34:40):
they've been to ask you right off. If they did
an a W Hall of Fame in twenty thirty, is
Jericho one of the first people that goes in.
Speaker 7 (34:52):
Yes, I guess he should be the first guy. He
was integral to the early days of age, his star power,
you know, with like people are like, oh, Chris Jericho's here, Okay,
I know him. You know, he was that big name
that they had. There's a reason he was the first champion,
(35:14):
and you know, without him, I don't know if they
do as well as they two, Like, you've got to
have that big name god, and that's what he.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Was for them. Absolutely, and think about the people he's
put over.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
I mean think about it. If it wasn't for Chris Jericho,
I'm not sure that the Orange Cassidy would be as
popular as he is because you know, there were a
lot of battles between the two of them, and Jericho
put him over so well and got him started on
the right path, and then we got you know, Orange
(35:50):
Casside out of it. Uh. I think you can also
I was thinking that too. I was gonna say the
next one was going to be MGF because he started
out as part of Jericho's crew and you know they
had some major I mean, without Chris Jericho, I don't
(36:11):
think AEW's anywhere near where it would be now, honestly,
because you might not have liked the fact that he
was on TV all the time and he was doing
the Learning Tree and all the other things that he did.
But he's Chris Jericho.
Speaker 6 (36:25):
You know what I mean is can you allow me
a dissenting opinion. I'll agree with you that Jericho he
did a lot for the company at the beginning, first
champion and probably deserved it. YadA yah yeada. Are we
forgetting the multiple instances of the Chris Jericho mid card
(36:48):
black hole where he would seemingly latch onto a rising
star and tried to suck all of the spotlight away
from them just so we could uh linger there a
little longer? Are we forgetting that he basically did the
inner circles who were three different times.
Speaker 5 (37:01):
Ye see. I kind of disagree with that because if he,
if he would have not lasted onto some of those guys,
they may not have had a chance to because it
might have been a black hole with the time, but
they've become something after that. The only one I would
say that has not done that would be shoot thought
(37:26):
in my head, sam Yeah, Sammy, But Sammy got himself
into problems and again got himself into problems. Big will
exactly and he's he sure it was because if it
(37:46):
wouldn't have been for him being part of the Learning Tree,
I don't think Big Bell would be as popular as
he is because that's the thing that he came because
he was He was Tag team champion before he became
part of the Learning Tree, but he was going nowhere.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
So big Bill, Big Bill is popular because of Wales,
not the animal.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
Not the man on the whole country.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Go ahead, that's I mean, he's over in Wales. He
should be the Welsh World Champion. Even if it doesn't exist,
they should strap the belt on him and have him
go out and have a match between the Welsh World Champion,
Big Bill and Mercedes Monet. I would love to see.
I pay to see that.
Speaker 6 (38:27):
I that it'd be a beautiful belt too.
Speaker 7 (38:29):
That's just so crazy. It might work.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I said it seriously, and it is the most dumb
ass thing I've said tonight, and that's saying.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
Something wait and then and then Mercedes makes google eyes
at it.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Yes, I love her googly eyes. She does that a
lot anyway.
Speaker 6 (38:50):
So yeah, I guess I'm the sole Jericho hater here.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
You're a Jericho hater here? How dare you you know?
This wasn't part of the go ahead Marcus.
Speaker 9 (39:03):
Just because I think early on, I think he definitely
was a name and he definitely helped AW get some
of the deals that they got. I just think there
were some of his spotlight probably should have went to
someone else. I thought that every time he did anything.
(39:24):
I think he did a lot, had a lot of
great moments with AW him being the first champion. You
could argue maybe that should have been Kenny or Cody
just too, because they were kind of the guys that
were building that. But when he came in with the
(39:47):
Jay the Jericho, I can't remember which group it was,
whichever group had Santana, Norteas, h Okay and.
Speaker 8 (39:56):
Appreciation they were doing that.
Speaker 9 (39:59):
I I thought they were doing well with that, but
none of the guys actually got a chance to branch
off and do anything do it out of that. And
then I think he just kind of never took a break.
I think he needed a break before now, before we
got to this point. But I will look back on
(40:20):
it fondly because he did do a lot of He
had a lot of great moments. But if he leaves
and goes to David we I don't think I'd missed
our weekly Jericho sick.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Well, I think of that, good riddance. He's going to
deviate a little bit from our regularly scheduled programming because
I want to just mention one little thing briefly, and
that is Barbara Ray Dudley.
Speaker 7 (40:49):
The dude.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
The dude is literally hit. He's taking too many bumps,
he's taking too many headshots. He spews at the mouth constantly,
sometimes even accidentally saying something positive about aw. I'm not
gonna rehash what he's been saying about aw because it's
(41:12):
so damn annoying that I don't really want to talk
about it. The only thing that I would say to
Bubba Ray Dudley is Bubba Ray Dudley, shut the hell.
Speaker 6 (41:26):
Up, yay our second Award winner.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Yes, and I didn't do a graphic. I should have,
but I knew it was going to be Bubba Ray
because it's Bubba Ray. And there's so many people that
need to shut that all up. Stick with us. Every
week we will point them out. Speaking of pointing somebody out,
let's talk about some cowboy shit. Hang Man Annam Page
(41:54):
is the aw Men's World Champion, and like we already
talked about this four way to determine his his opponent
at full gear, I've heard people say that cowboy shit
is better in a pursuit of a championship than he
(42:15):
is actually with the championship. Now, to be fair to
hang Man out a Page, if people are saying that
this this current championship run for him, is kind of
to saying you've got to look at the contenders. M
Jeff has still got the contract, but he's out filming
(42:37):
a movie will Os Brace where Strickland are out. Eddie
Kingston for some reason has not been given his World
championship shot yet. Uh God, I can't believe it. I
need I just had rectim file that. Oh god. I'm
(43:04):
just saying is that when you look at Hangman at
in Page's current run, some people have said that it's
not as good as his pursuit of the championship. But
I think you have to take into consideration, honestly, that
there are so many people that are serious contenders that
are just not available, and they've got to make serious contenders.
(43:27):
That's why I think that Ricochet should win this match,
even Bobby. Lastly, this matchup right night Dynamite, because I
don't want to see someone with Joe. We've already done that,
and I just don't think Hook is a serious contender
for aw Men's World Championship. No, so, but what do
(43:49):
you think? What do you guys think of of Hangman's run?
And guys, if you're not talking, please mute.
Speaker 6 (44:00):
I think, well, I think he's a champion we can
be proud of. Love me so, Adam Page. But I've
always found in my years of watching wrestling, and this
isn't an iron clad rule but it's a general rule
of thumb that faces tend to make better chasers than
they are long than they do long term champions.
Speaker 7 (44:21):
Right, That's exactly what I was gonna say. I mean,
the money is in the chase. Like most Baby Faith
champions don't have. Their title runs aren't as entertaining as
their title chases, because we can relate to the hero's journey,
(44:41):
you know, trying to defeat the villain, you know, obstacles
to overcome, You fall, you get back up, you rise again.
You know that's relatable. It's hard to relate to the
king defending its castle.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
Thank you, fake Marcus? What's the are the real Marcus?
Speaker 8 (45:02):
Oh that's gonna stick for a little while.
Speaker 5 (45:05):
But oh God, Like Blake.
Speaker 9 (45:08):
Was said, I think he's the victim, the biggest victim
of Swerve in Osprey being out, MJF being away, even
though he did get a match with MJF, and also
Kenny Omega not being healthy right now and not wanting
to do like big singles matches.
Speaker 8 (45:28):
Reportedly, that was what he said.
Speaker 9 (45:31):
And those were kind of the elements that were there
as he was building, like the human Swerve him and Ospray,
those were kind of the elements that helped build his
journey to the championship, and then he conquered Moxley and
there really wasn't anything after. There wasn't a set challenger
(45:55):
ready for him. I don't think I honestly think that
at full gear we shouldn't have this full way.
Speaker 8 (46:04):
If full gear should be hanged in versus Darby, I think, and.
Speaker 9 (46:10):
That way we kind of we having a challenger that
people actually believe to win.
Speaker 5 (46:15):
See. I kind of think he's a victim of too
many narrow that they're there there there choices of who
he goes against is too narrow. You're having four guys,
two of them that pretty much probably won't be in
in competition. You're not gonna have hook win. You're not
gonna have Bobby lashing to win. It's gonna probably be
(46:37):
some ojo again, which I don't like because it's too
it's too soon. But you're leaving out guys like Taquesta, Okada.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Ah, Well, they're gonna be probably going against each other
full gear.
Speaker 5 (46:49):
I get that, but but but you're not. You're limiting
your to who he can go against.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
And that's the problem.
Speaker 5 (46:57):
Yeah, MJF is off doing a movie. You know that coming.
You knew a month before he won this title that
you weren't gonna have a Swerve or you know, those
guys were gonna be hurt. You knew that was gonna happen.
So instead of expanding it and maybe making it somebody else,
they've said, well, it's gonna be some mojo and he's
(47:18):
gonna get these other matches that he's had. He's not
gonna get anybody that's gonna make it exciting like he
had with Swerve. So I you know, I think he's
a victim of the victim of the injury bug. But
there's also they're not giving people a chance that could
get a chance. That's just how I see it.
Speaker 9 (47:38):
On just speaking on Ricata and Taqusta with Okada, like
they did the Fletcher match and that was Champion verse champions,
so they do another champion versus champion match.
Speaker 8 (47:50):
And with Taqusta.
Speaker 9 (47:51):
If he was always gonna win the HIGHWGP championship, I.
Speaker 8 (47:55):
Don't think you can.
Speaker 9 (47:57):
Well you can, but I don't think it looks good.
You just beat him before or after he wins that championship.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
Yeah, well let's not forget that to also tomorrow night
on Frate Night Dynamite, you have Don Kallas coming out
and speaking about the don Kallis family, and if you
paid attention to social media, don Kallas has been saying
is that, look, the Don Kallas family is fine. And
I'm paraphrasing here, but he's basically said, when you have
(48:29):
a group of superior athletes, which is something that Don
Kallas would always say, when you have a group of
superior athletes, they are going to be competitive against each other.
And I think that tomorrow night on Frate Night Dynamite.
I'm interested in this segment to see how competitive to
(48:50):
catch the nocada and even Kyle Fletcher, who I believe
should be in the four way instead of hook how
they react. So let's move on to our final segment,
which is the pot Pourri. Uh. This segment is we
can bring up anything that we want to talk about.
(49:10):
It doesn't have to be aw specifically, but it's just
a short conversation about different things. Anybody have a pot
poiri that they want to bring up?
Speaker 6 (49:23):
I do, Oh oh, sorry, you go ahead, and it okay.
Speaker 4 (49:28):
I love Coda Abushi, like just hugely love that man.
But I saw the stupidest thing this week where he
stood up out of his wheelchair and did that whole
standing sitting, standing sitting. He just had surgery on his
(49:49):
broken femur and he's outside standing up. I think that
was one of the dumbest things I've seen in quite
a long time, and I've been wrest some fan a
really long time.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
That one blew me away.
Speaker 4 (50:04):
I don't know what he or maybe his doctors whoever,
were thinking about that, but I thought that was a
really poor choice to make.
Speaker 6 (50:18):
I think I figured it was always well known that
Coda Abouhi blessed his heart, has always been kind of
an idiot, and I'm yeah, but this one, I say
that with the most affection possible.
Speaker 4 (50:30):
This one just blew me away. I've seen him do
a lot of silly stuff, but this one just topped
it for me. I don't know why, but that one
just just did it.
Speaker 6 (50:42):
Probably because he's gonna like get him like keep himself
away even longer if he doesn't show the hell out. Yeah,
sorry to interrupt.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
Well, just did you have a popori as well?
Speaker 5 (50:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (50:54):
Yeah, this is just a short kind of goofy thing.
Speaker 8 (50:58):
Shoes.
Speaker 6 (50:59):
The last couple pairs of sneakers that I have owned
have been AW sneakers. My first was like a pair
of I think the brand is like Theodora. I had
a pair of the Deodora aw Pride sneakers, and then
when those started to wear out, I got a pair
of Lutre Bros sneakers, which I still have, but those
are starting to wear out too. I do not I
(51:19):
do not think make AW sneakers anymore. But what I
didn't manage to get myself was a pair of Rebok
Brodie Lee Tribute sneakers. I cannot wait for those to
come in. They look very cool in the pictures. I
will give a further review once I actually have them
in hand. But Berdielee sneakers incoming, Well, you.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
Know what you could do, Jess, is get a pair
of your old sneakers, put thumbtacks that in call them
the young Buck sneakers.
Speaker 6 (51:47):
There are actually a pair of a set of Deodora
Young Bucks sneakers, but those usually go for like a lot,
so I'm not even gonna try to get a pair
of those.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Anybody else with a pot pourri IWTP have you way
champion to.
Speaker 7 (52:02):
Defend against? Also feature versus Yoga Suji for the global
title and the finals of the Super Junior type don't
know about the rest of the card.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
Uh, well, I have a pote prix that's actually not mine.
It was something I believe Barry who could be with
us tonight posted he was saying he asked for his
pot pourri was who do you think are the who
do you think are the uh most underutilized talents in
(52:43):
a W And I thought that was a pretty darn
good question. Well, he's usually he's used a lot.
Speaker 6 (52:52):
In r o H.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
Though.
Speaker 5 (52:54):
That's the thing that makes it kind of difficult because
r OH does use a lot of talent, and if
you don't watch ROH, you don't know who's being used
over there or not. And you know, with having the
rosters be the same pretty much, I mean, just because
you're on an ROH roster doesn't mean you won't be
on AW and vice versa. I mean, there are some
(53:16):
people that are being underutilized, but I think Tony does
a really good job of trying to get as many
people on the shows as he can. That's why he
has so many multiman matches and women matches. I mean,
you really, to be honest, you'd have to have three
shows a week to try to get everybody on TV
(53:38):
with an equal number of an equal amount of time,
because they're just you only got four hours a week
and you've got so much talent, it's really hard.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
To do that well. As we are speaking, two more
matches have been made for Fright Night Dynamite, the first
being John Moxley versus Kyle O'Reilly yay, the second being
a Trigger Treat Tornado tag match with Daniel Garcia and
(54:08):
if you Wheeler Udah. He should be a recipient every
week of shut the Hell Up Wheeler Yeah against Darby
Allen an Orange Cassidy. So that looks like.
Speaker 6 (54:23):
A lot of fun, sure does.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
But back to the underutilized anybody else have underutilized? Uh
wrestlers in aw I sure do go for.
Speaker 6 (54:33):
It, Eddie Kingston, uh.
Speaker 2 (54:37):
Overutilized We were talking underutilized.
Speaker 6 (54:41):
No, No, the answer is Nyla Rose. I mentioned this before.
She says she's content and happy working in the back,
but I miss her. I think like having a big
beast like her in the women's division, especially flourishing it
as it is now, would be a great addition. But
she's like awesome, She's hilarious, she's, like I said, she's
(55:04):
an absolute beast. Give me more Nyla please.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
I miss her too, I miss saying.
Speaker 7 (55:14):
To be fair, she has been busy as the pro champion.
Speaker 2 (55:18):
Yeah, well, before we wrap up the show tonight, I
I kind of want to end it on a little
bit of a downer, but I do want to say
that I and I'm sure to rest you guys as well,
offer our thoughts to Mike Rotunda, formerly known as I R.
(55:42):
S from w w E, who was placed in hospice
care earlier today. I've not seen any further information other
than that, but of course Mike Rotunda is the father
of Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt, sixty seven years old.
(56:04):
I believe he is in hospice care. We're thinking about
you and you know, godspeed. That's all I can say,
and with that we will end tonight's ignition. Will be
back tomorrow night, right after Fright Night Dynamite. Look, there's
a heck of a lot that's going to be happening
tomorrow night with those four way matches the AW Women's
(56:27):
World Tag Team Tournament getting started. The two matches I
just announced John Moxley and Kyle O'Reilly again. Then of
course the Tornado trick or treat tag that we just
talked about, So there's going to be a lot to unpack.
It's going to be a fun show tomorrow night. As
a heck of a card, thank you for listening. We
(56:49):
will be back next week as well at eight forty
five Eastern time, broadcasting live on Twitch and x. Eventually,
in about a month and a half or so, we
will be starting to broadcast live on YouTube. We just
have to wait to get through our probation period. I
(57:09):
guess this is the best way to put it, but
we will be on YouTube as well. Uh but anyway,
forty aw fanhob podcast team. This is Kelson. Good night everybody,
good night, I RS good night, love you there it
is Yeah,
