Speaker 1 (00:00):
And nine Cognition five four three two one zero.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
It's Tuesday. You know what that means. It's time for
Ignition with the a W Fan podcast team. We're coming
to you live on x and on Twitch and we
will be of course uploading this as a Spotify Apple
podcast podcast. Uh tomorrow, which is Wednesday. Just saw a
(00:44):
W Dark for the first time and forever did you
guys watch AW Dark tonight? Did?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I didn't know it was bad.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I watched it just a little bit before we started this.
It become fresh.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, I mean it was nice seeing it back again
and a little bit odd, I think, yeah, from home
doing the uh the remote and I love the way
they played it off where like, uh it was it
an ex Caliber was mentioning Taz taking his shoes and
(01:20):
socks off, dropping them into the crowd in Wales when
you knew that they were probably in New York when
they were doing it. Yeah, probably not even in the
same road Taz was in New York, you know, Uh,
ex Caliber was probably wherever he lives, Florida, Waiver.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
I love when they can't be there but they pretend
they are.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, But anyway, it was fun. It was great seeing
a w Dark back for one night only. It was fun.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
That the patches were good relatively short.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
So yeah, like thirty what were you gonna say.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I'm just gonna say, like I must have been out
of the loop because I had no idea what was happening.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
At Yeah, it's it's on YouTube, so you can watch it.
Right after we're done with this podcast, you can go
watch aw Dark. Yeah. You know, well, you weren't feeling
well last week, so we'll give you a pass. But
you know, they did announce it last week and they
it's been all over to discord and all over the
(02:27):
subreddits and things like that, so you know, on Twitter
and all that happy stuff. So if you missed it,
you missed it. But you know what, let's get on
with the show because we got some things that we
want to talk about. I don't know. The thing I
kind of want to lead off with is is speedball
(02:48):
Mike Bailey. He had this really, really good match, a
really good match. People were really I don't know why
I keep saying really so much, uh really, but anyway,
people were were praising this match is one of the
best TV matches of the year, if not even a
(03:13):
candidate for Match of the Year, the match between Speedball
Mike Bailey and Kyle Fletcher, and then of course Speedball
Mike Bailey then wrestled Kevin Knight in the Continental Classic.
What was that our collision? And that was a different
kind of match, but it was still really good. There,
I said, really again, did you guys see these two matches?
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yes, and I saw the SA I saw the one
versus Kyle Fletcher, and yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Don't go there, you stop bucking me. I hope you
get snow in Ohio.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I would say it was very good, quite good, extremely good.
I don't know if i'd say really good.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Okay, so so no no, no, no, no, no no,
but okay, I'm gonna put you on the spot, Chris
with the match between Kyle Fletcher at speed by Mike Bailey.
Using our new scale of zero to ten thousand pictures
of Adam Cole, what would you give this match?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Oh, ten thousand, easy, but you're going right to ten thousand. Yeah, Like,
I definitely say it was the TV back of the Year,
And I mean I'm pretty sure I know I t
we did Match of the Year contender, like it wouldn't.
The match with Fletcher was so freaking good, Like those
two just went ball to the wall, you know, everything
(04:49):
they had for almost twenty minutes, and I mean, just
an amazing match all around.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, I agree, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
By also I also give it, I said, I also
give it ten thousand pictures of Adam Cole, and I'll
add on an extra five thousand picture just because Mike
Bailey is so dang cute. He's adorable. Look at him.
He's like a Pokemon. He's like a marginal.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, with a mullet. There's still so many mullets in wrestling. Yeah,
I mean, gosh, it's like how many. It's just weird
that there's so many wrestlers that have mullets where you
really don't see them. I don't see them out in
the wild that often, So I don't know. But the
(05:40):
one thing I will say about this match, aw made
a two minute and I know that it is this long.
It's a two minute and twenty five second highlight reel
of this match that they posted, and it got posted
on different you know, social media, different on acts and
on Blue Sky and Reddit and on one of our subreddits,
(06:02):
Greatness of Wrestling. It was posted and you could you
don't look, I don't know how other way to put this,
but it's a two minute and twenty five second highlight reel,
a highlight reel of a nineteen minute and ten second match.
Remember this thing almost went to the time limit, you know,
(06:24):
the Mike Bailey when he got the pin, time was
running out. They were in desperation mode at that point.
They had just announced one minute left when Mike Bailey
got the pin a few seconds later. But anyway, people watched.
I don't even think they watched the entire two minute
(06:44):
and twenty five second highlight reel. But you're gonna have these.
I'm just gonna say it's sports entertainment fans that have
no knowledge of professional wrestling. I'm just gonna say it.
I'm sorry, but it's the way I feel, uh saying
things like oh it's flippy shit, no selling, It looked
(07:06):
like choreographed ballet gymnastics, no storytelling. Seriously, you get this
ont of a two minute and twenty five second highlight
reel of a nineteen minute and ten second match. Do
you think that's fair helm.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
They ye, not at all, But it's what it's what
I would say eighty percent of the aw haters too.
They watch a small clip and, like you said, may
not even watch the entire thing and use that as
(07:45):
if it's the entire match, so they can bitch and
complain and use all the classic you know, BLUs word,
no cell flipping, floppy bullshit. You know, they're idiots who
should not be listened to. No, you don't watch an
entire match. You can't judge the entire match, like if
(08:11):
you don't want to. If you don't like that kind
of wrestling, that's probably fine.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
That's fine, but yeah, don't watch it. Yeah, don't comment
about it.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, and no fear waiting around for Cornett to tell
you what to think about the match either.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
But look, guys, you know it's coming to those people
that say that this is flippy shit ballerina gymnastics, no selling,
no storytelling, talking out of their ass. There's really only
four words that need to be said. You know what
they are, guys, I'll say it with me in one, two,
(08:50):
three shot that hell no, there you go. But anyway,
let's get back into serious stuff though. With the speedball
Mike Bailey, I mean, look, when he had this match
against Kyle Fletcher, this was really an opportunity for a
speedball Mike Bailey, who, in my opinion, has been doing okay,
(09:13):
But okay is not good enough when you're surrounded by
the athletes that AW does put out there. This was
his coming out party. Would you agree with me in
that this was, by bar the best speedball Mike Bailey
has presented himself in AW.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Absolutely. I love Jet Speed as a team. They're like
one of my favorites. There's so much fun. They have
great chemistry. But one thing that's been awesome about this
Continental Classic is that it's given both of them a
chance to shine on their own merits.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Oh yeah, for sure. Yeah. I mean both have had
singles matches, they're great as a team. You know, Bailey
had some big matches early on when he came in
and they were, you know great. This match felt like
the first time we're seeing that, Okay, this is the
(10:09):
guy who is really brilly go. Like, you know, like
some people knew like he had great matches in the NA,
he has some great matches in New Japan, you know,
other independence and stuff, but like this was the match
that I think sold a lot of people on speedball,
(10:34):
being like, Okay, he could be a top tier guy.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah, but now look so now Speedball has won two
in a row because he's beaten uh Kyle Fletcher, and
of course he then beat his partner in jet Speed,
Kevin Knight. Do you think that his streak will continue?
Do you think that he may actually make the semi
finals in the Continental Classic or do you think that
(10:59):
he's kind of gone as far as he's gonna go
in this What are your thoughts?
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Gosh, I hope so the more Speedball the better, just
like the amount of great matches he could have, like
going into the tournament is just astounding.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
What about you, Chris, I'm a big famous Feedball, so
I'd love to see it. It's it's one of those
I could see it going either way, you know, because
there are so many good wrestlers in the Continental Plastic.
You know, he could he could make the semifinals. He
could lose his next two. I'm personally rooting for him
(11:36):
because I like his matches. All three of his matches
have been fantastic. These last two. You know, the match
with Kyle Fletcher, that's a put on the map kind
of match, and then the one with Kevin Knight was
so great because the back and forth and him busting
out the Flamingo driver for the first time. He's attempted
(11:58):
it before, but I think only once or twice, but
this time he got it. That was what he needed
to beat his partner who knows him so well. It's
been a really great tournament for him, and yeah, I'd
love to say and make the semifinals.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Well here's where I think, and I'm gonna ask you
to see whether you guys agree with me or not.
But when I look at the Kyle Fletcher versus Speedball
Mike Bailey match, I looked at it and the way
Bailey came through in that match and a convincing I'm
not saying that he convincingly beat Kyle Fletcher. I'm saying
(12:35):
that he was convincing as far as being a good contender,
a good matchup with Kyle Fletcher. I don't think that
it is necessary for Mike Bailey to actually make the
quarterfinals in the Continental Classic. And the reason why I
(12:57):
believe that is that we have a rematch begging to
be done with Kyle Fletcher and they could do that
after maybe Kyle Fletcher wins the TNT Championship, or maybe
they can have a match together against each other to
(13:17):
determine the number one contender for the TNT Championship. I
don't know, but that's just something that I was thinking about.
What do you guys think?
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, I see your point, but he may not need it,
but it'd still be nice to see.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Yeah, I agree with with. You know, I picked Kyle
Fletcher to win the Continent Classic, so you know, could
have a rematch after that or that title as well,
or you know, true for the national title.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Very true.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
He's the thing about this tournament is you have you
can build up future stories use current story, and you know,
you can highlight someone who maybe they're not gonna win,
maybe they're not even gonna make the semi finals, but
they have great, amazing matches throughout. And that's something that
(14:14):
the aw fans appreciate. Like it's wins and losses matter,
but it's also performance.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Like you know, you could have a guy.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Lose ten matches in a row, but if he's having
great matches and fighting hard throughout, the w fans are
gonna appreciate that. Even you know, I said, even if
he loses his next two, they could be great matches
and he can still be a guy. That's like, Okay,
(14:48):
we know he can be top tier.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Guys, right and not look like they're wrestling down to
have him win. I mean, I got the impression absolutely
the Kyle Fletch was giving his absolute best in that match,
as was Mike Bailey. Yeah, so, you know, I personally
don't believe that Mike Bailey is going to make the
(15:11):
semi finals the Continental Classic, but I also believe that
he doesn't need to because he's already established himself with
one With that one match against Kyle Fletcher. I think
that it is he's gotten a lot more notice from
fans than he ever could have against anybody else. And
(15:36):
that's a testament to Kyle Fletcher as well. I mean,
I think that he doesn't get enough credit, you know,
for what he does.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Oh yeah, the chemistry between those two in that match
was freaking amazingly. They they felt they worked off of
each other, and you know, they take each other freaking
everything in that match, Like, yeah, it takes two to tango,
as they say. So, Yeah, how Fletcher definitely deserves its
(16:07):
flowers on that one as well.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
I kind of want to segue into the next topic
because Mike Bailey is one of the wrestlers that I
consider part of this is that there are wrestlers that
have either proven their worth with AW or have had
long tenures in AW who have never had a belt. Now,
don't get me wrong, you know, I don't want people
(16:31):
coming after me saying a belt doesn't make the wrestler.
I absolutely agree with that, but it is something that
you know what, I think every wrestler wants to have
a belt at some point, But there are wrestlers like
if you're if you're watching this, the graphic has sky
Blue up there, who has been with AW for god
(16:55):
knows how long and uh has never had a belt
around on her waist. Mike Bailey, Kevin Knight. I mean,
what are some other men and women in AAW that
have never had an AAW belt? I mean, I can
even put Athena in there. She's never had an AAW belt.
She's had a ring of honor belt, but it's not
(17:15):
the same thing. It doesn't have the same prestige. I'm
sorry to insult anybody to thinks otherwise, but I personally
do not believe that a ring of honor belt has
carries the same weight as as an AAW belt. So
what are some other wrestlers that maybe being left behind,
and then all of the wrestlers that maybe being left behind.
(17:39):
Which ones do you think may actually win a belt?
You know, in twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Six, Dark Orders should win the trio's titles.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Have they had a belt before? Though? That's the problem.
I don't, I don't know. I mean, obviously Hangman, Anna
Page Has, Brody Lee has. By the way, happy birthday,
mister Lee. We miss you.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
But what about John Silver? Like everybody was talking about
how good and underrated he was for the longest time.
But has the Johnny Hungky ship sadly passed or do
you think he still like deserves.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
More Dark Order? I'm talking about the current trio Evil Uno,
Stu Grayson. Oh sorry, I wish he was back, Evil Youno,
John Silver, Alex Brims. Yeah, they've neither one of them
have ever held a title in a w and I've
long said the trio division needs to be reworked. You need,
(18:46):
you know, real trios and make it the fun title.
Make it, you know, one that's regularly defended. Use guys
that don't have anything to do. You've can have some
short range, you can have some long range. You can
do a lot of stuff with it, but we got
to get it on like a real trio, not you know,
(19:11):
a guy that's also world champion. Nothing. I like them.
I just wish the trios titles were doing something else
and actually matters right now, because.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, well, I mean, I'm sure I'll reiterate it briefly,
but I do not believe that AW should have a
trios titles. I think those should be exclusive to Ringabater
fair enough.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
I'm a big fan of six man tag matches, you know.
I think they can be a lot of fun and
you know, when done well, and it could be one
of those I think the division could be something right
there middle of the show, you know that the fans
can enjoy have some fun with and lee room for
(20:00):
bigger matches, you know, Like the trios titles are mid
card low lower mid belts, they're.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
They're they're low card, they're not even they're not big card.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I would say they Okay, they should be mid to
low right there, middle of the show. Fun matches with
you know, crazy trios like the Dark Order. I'm not
a fan of them, but they're good. Heels. The frat
House Shane Taylor Promotions exactly.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
But but that's the reason why I'm saying the good
actual trios teams, even the Dark Order, have been on
Ring of Honor more often than not the Frat House
Ring of Honor, Shane Taylor Promotions Ring of Honor. I mean,
all of the good trios teams that are actually teams
are on Ring of Honor. That's why I'm saying it
(20:59):
should the six band tag titles, because that's what they
call it on Ring of Honor. It don't call it
the Trios titles. They should be exclusive to Ring Him Honor,
in my opinion, and just eradicate them completely from AW.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
I'd rather just have one pair, you know, of trios
titles and just have them on. You know, you can
feature him mostly on Ring of Honor, but then you
can bring him on, you know, Tellision when you need,
you know, title mass to add to the show.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Sure, Jess, do you have any any opinions about this? I?
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Yeah, and now I could be wrong, Please correct me.
If he's held one before. Sometimes it's hard to keep
track because AW does have a lot of belts. Has
Kyle O'Reilly held the title yet?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
God, that's a good question. I want to say he has.
I don't know why I want to say he has,
but I want to say he.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Has if he should, and he's shown.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
I think wasn't didn't he? And maybe it was Adam Cole,
Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong held the trio's titles at
one point.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
I don't know, I think, so, you know, I got
to look for something now.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Yeah, but that that's a good that's a good person
that you're talking about there, regardless. I mean, it doesn't
even necessarily have to be somebody that has not had
a title, but it could be somebody like Kyle O'Reilly,
where we think, hey, did he have a title? Because
if we don't know, it's kind of hard to say,
(22:39):
you know, it's it's hard to justify it. I don't know,
did you find anything out?
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Chris also, uh, yeah, he has not held a title
in a he he did win the Men's Casino Battle
Royal in twenty twenty two.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
But yeah, that's yeah, yeah, So.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
All right, my point stands, Then give Kyle O'Reilly a title.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
Or title push. I mean, they don't even necessarily have
to have a title, but they should have a legitimate title.
Push Again, sky Blue is a good example on the
women's side. Of course, on the women's side you could
even say uh Tamello and a j uh women like that.
On the men's side, there's plenty of men like uh.
(23:26):
By the way to blade is his back. He did
wrestle this past weekend, not for aw but he's working
his way back, which is good to see. Uh, But
there's so many guys.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Yeah, you know who I think deserves a singles title.
I know he's held the trios title, but I think
uh Claudio Casting Nola should definitely be in the consideration
for some singles belt, right.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
I mean he is the current CMLL World Heavyweight Champion.
He is uh wrestling and defending that championship on Friday
night at nine thirty pm Eastern Time in Arena, Mexico
on Triller TV. And I said Cheler TV because I
posted it on the aw fand a X account earlier today.
(24:20):
Ed Triller, I call, I said that it was on Triller.
Ed Triller actually corrected me. So, I guess that's one
way to get somebody to respond to you by not
putting TV at the end of the name. It's kind
of like if I just called Johnny TV Johnny, he
may respond to me, but anyway, it will be on
(24:40):
Chuler TV. Seven ninety nine is the costs and it
is English commentary on Triller. If you are already a
member of the cmlll YouTube channel and have the correct tier,
then you will be able to watch it on the
CMLL you YouTube channel as you can watch all of
(25:02):
their shows, but you will not get it in English commentary.
It will be Spanish only commentary on the CMLL YouTube channel.
If you want to get it on English commentary at
the pay of seven ninety nine and watch it at
nine thirty pm on sue Er TV. And I believe
Speedball Speedball Mike Bailey is also going to be on
the show and a few others from AW so you
(25:27):
know you will be able to see some a w
wrestlers on the show as well. No women's matches, which
is very unusual for CMLL. But anyway, but that that's
that was a good that was a good person. Uh yeah, Claudio,
he has I believe he has had the Trios titles though, right.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, like you know, just
though again, I don't even consider somebody that has a
has hell held a Trios title is actually having held
a title because those titles are those titles are left behind,
you know, they're they're not defended regularly.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
So there it is again. I'll say it again last time.
I swear they should be r O H exclusive titles,
six man tags. Get rid of the trio's titles. In
aw there's no need for them. There's no need for them.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Also one more one more mentioned. I know he's injured
right now and it's sort of if he whether he'll
even be back at all, but uh coda abushi.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Sure, yeah, yeah, I agree with you there. I mean,
there's a lot of them. There really is. When you
think about it, you'd be surprised. If you go up
and down the roster page there are. And again I'm
not saying that titles are important. Titles do not make
the wrestler, but I do think that having a run
(26:57):
at a title at least does make the wrestler. Nods.
Dan Housen has that Housen if he did come back
to a W it did wrestle wrestle again? What do
you how many wrestling matches did he have at a
W six Maybe.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
I think it was a few more than that, But
like it was mostly six and eight man's hands. I
feel like he's one of those characters who you like
to see a like a monthly show, but every week
it's like, Okay, it was funny the first few times,
(27:43):
but I need a little break from you.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah, I wasn't being serious. I I do like Dan Housen.
I think he's a delight his watching his YouTube channel
is an instant thing to cheer yourself up.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
But no, I like he's a you know, he's solid
in the ring and when he does, you know, do
the more like serious stuff, you know, and really wrestles.
He stood, and the character is fun seeing here and there,
Like you know, if he shows up this week, don't
(28:20):
have him show up next week, or you know, he's
not a main character. I guess I would say.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Well, there's all, but there's also you know, not that Look,
they're not getting any younger, but they're not really getting
any older either, and that's the outrunners they need. I
would mind seeing them again, not necessarily get a belt,
but at least be a serious contender for a belt.
(28:51):
And what I mean by serious contender them and them
alone against the champions. I don't I'm not a fan
of the Three Ways is Look tomorrow night on Dynamite,
we're getting the three way contract signing between what a Hangman,
Ani Page, Square Strickland, and Samoa Joe. I have zero
(29:12):
interest in this match, none whatsoever. I really don't have
any interest in it because it's so overdone. It's senseless.
It doesn't make you know, And it's a contract signing too.
We're having a contract signing for a match that I
don't really I'm not really fired up about it. I mean,
(29:33):
I'll watch it, but I'm not really fired up about it.
I mean, I hope it's a good match, and I
hope it gives me say, oh, I wasn't expecting that,
and I'm all for that. I would love to be surprised,
but going into it, I just like, okay, another one
of these.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
I think. I think their first match was really good,
really interesting, and I think with the new wrinkle when
the Hangman's swerve story is like they're they're definitely not friends,
but they've kind of like not really buried the hatchet,
but they've at least dug the hole for it.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Yeah. I think, Well, we'll talk about that match at
length when we do our World's End Prediction Show, which
will be next Tuesday night, I believe right by the way,
By the way, that kind of brings me to the
(30:33):
next segment. Look, World's End is the twenty seventh. It's
the sixteenth. World's End is the twenty seventh, right, yes, yeah,
it's the sixteenth. How many matches we have for World's End?
We've got the quarterfinal, two semifinal matches for the Continent,
(30:54):
the Classic plus the finals, so that's three. We've got
Chris stat Lander against uh oh god, who's Jamie Hayter.
That's four. And we've got the World Championship match that
we were just talking about. That's five matches. I don't
(31:15):
do we don't have We don't have any other matches
set up, do we?
Speaker 3 (31:19):
No?
Speaker 5 (31:20):
I am.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
I would bet money that we get a eight man
all star tag between the with the wrestlers who didn't
make it into the semifinals. It happened last year. I
see no reason not to do it again this year.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Right. Oh? You know what about They're doing the Dynamite
Diamond Ring Battle Royal tomorrow night and the last two
that remain are having a match. Is that a World's
End match? Or is that the next week week. Okay, yeah,
all right, so there's that, but that's not World's end.
(32:03):
It's just weird because I'm sure we may get a
challengers for the Women's World Championship of the Tag Titles
against the Baby I'm sure, and we'll probably get something
with Mark Briscoe.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
I can see open challenge.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
Right, yeah, we may see something with you know. So
we are going to have matches. But the thing is
is that well, the Continental Classic is going to take
color care of itself as far as the story goes there,
because the story is the storytelling in the ring. They
really don't need any setup because the matches are to
set up. They do need to do something between Jamie
(32:53):
Hater and Chris Statlander because right now they're too chummy
in my opinionion. They do need to come up with
something for the Babies rat. They need to come up
with something for Mark Briscoe. They need to come up
with something, you know, from Mercedes Monett. Probably there's just
(33:15):
too many open ends and there's no story. They're literally
when you say, okay, what's Mark Briscoe's story, there is none.
What's Mercedes monett story? There is none.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
She slowly milks I don't think that way.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
I don't think that way. People are like, well it
started the the uh you know, she's gonna lose all
of her belts all at once. I don't think that's
gonna happen. I really don't.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
I mean, she lost one and did not take it
very well. It's only gonna get worse these keys.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Yeah, but she's you know, she she defended what three
titles over the weekend and retained all three of them.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
So yeah, I think she's going to half of Milltown.
But it's not gonna be this so like just crazy
fast knows.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
No rights exact.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Like, she's not going to lose another title for probably
you know, I think revolution she can lose the TBS
title Vaders, you.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Know, right, No, no, no, I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
And from there, you know, probably another couple of months
he loses the title, and then maybe she has a
string of bad luck where she loses like three in
a row within like a month. But it's not just
going to happen like boom boom boom boom boom, right
titles by the end of the year.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Right, Yeah. The way I describe it, Chris, is like
it's not gonna happen. It's gonna have a trickle down effect,
but it's not going to be an avalanche.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Yeah, she's going to still like because she's still so
damn talent. She's going to keep defending titles until she
comes up against those really big tests, and a lot
of them are going to be against people she already like, yeah, people.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Who learned.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
And now she's getting talky that because she thinks she
was already so much better but doesn't realize how much
better they've gotten right now.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
She just defended I can't I don't even know. I
know she defended the the undisputed British Championship, that was
the main belt that she was defending in Cardiff, Wales.
And when when they announced that match against Rio, not
Rio from aaw but Rio. Uh and if you're not
familiar with Rio, she is a beast. When they announced
(35:48):
that match, this is well before the matches with Red
Velvet and all that, I was like pointing at that
as like that's where she's going to lose one of
her belt is against Rio. But that didn't happen. She
ended up losing the belt against Red Velvet, and I
was kind of pleased that she retained against Rio because
(36:12):
I really don't want to see her lose these belts
in the avalanche style.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
Yeah, completely agree with you.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
I want to move on because we had already mentioned this,
the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal. Do you guys see MGF
coming back for this tomorrow night?
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Yes? Yes, Why wouldn't he?
Speaker 1 (36:33):
That's his whole thing.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
I really hope so. Like I mean, but realistically, he
shouldn't need to be in the Battle Royal. The winner
of the Battle Royal should have to face him for
the ring. It's his ring, Like, they can't just take
it away from him.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
Yeah, but they do that all the time. I mean,
look at the Continental Classic.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Yeah, think of the ring as an annually defended miniature
belt whinter the Battle Royal gets the ring. MGF just
happens to win it every year and it's sort of
become his signature weapon. But that doesn't mean he's guaranteed
to keep it forever.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Well, he better this year.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Yeah, but here's the thing, he's already gone. Remember he
still has this contract that he hasn't executed yet that
he needs to use seven days in advance if he
wins the Diamond. Uh. The Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal. Well,
if he's one of the last two, then he wrestles
(37:33):
to become the number one to win the ring and
become the number one contender. Isn't that correct?
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Yes, well, then he wouldn't. Then he wouldn't need to
use his contract. He wants to avoid using that thing
if at all possible, because his.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Insurance post thing to do. Win the Diamond Dynamite Battle Royal,
go into his title match, just kick whoever's the champion
right in the ditch, take the DQ and then just
beat the ever loving wrapout of them, almost break their arm,
(38:12):
and then sign the contract and demand the match for
next week.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
That sounds like a very Max plan.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Yeah, speaking of Max, let's talk about Max Caster and
UH and Anthony Bowens. I mean, they've been pretty much
for some reason, for some reason, I would be surprised
if both of them were the last two standing because
of everything that's happened leading up to this.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
It's a weird final four and take each other out.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
I don't know, but they need to rekindle that love
affair because everybody loves the acclaimed scissor. That just that
did not sound right. No, but i'd I need a minute.
Somebody talked I need to go take a cold shower. Well, look,
(39:07):
I mean, we've got a lot to talk about in
the pot pourrix section, so I want to go to that. Uh.
I know that Chris you had one, and I know
Jess had a pot pourri. So let's hear what you've
got me.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
Okay, preface by saying, I'm pretty sure that everyone every
wrestling fan has one favorite from back in the day
that's like their guy or lady. But seeing as how
back in the day was probably guy, mine happens to
be Nick Foley. I have loved Mix since I was
(39:45):
a kid. I pretty much have his entire collection of
autobiographies great reads. Anyway, Mick is currently as of right
now this minute, signed with WWT for a Legends deal
will end in the spring Mike's own choice.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Yes, Mick is is letting his Legends deal lapse and
refuses to sign another as long as the current administration
is in power because he is fed up with how
morally downhill ww is gone, and in his words, quoting Popeye,
(40:28):
He's had all he can stands and he can't stand
no more. I people say, don't meet your heroes. But
I would meet Nick any day of the week. He
just just consistently proven to be just an absolutely great guy.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Yeah. I mean, this has been a big talking point today.
We made a post about it on aw Fan, We
made a post about it on greadest Wrestling. The reactions
are bad about what you would expect. A lot of
people saying, goodbye, Mick, don't let the door hit you
(41:06):
on your way, you know, not to wait out the door,
don't whatever, you know it's and then some people were saying,
like you said, he was. He's always been one of
my favorites, you know, and I respect him, you know,
even if I may not agree with him, I still
respect respect him. I don't know. I really don't want
(41:27):
to get into the politics of it, but I mean,
here's what I think. Why wait until now to do this?
Should have done this ages and ages ago. Now. He
may may have made his intentions known months ago, but
(41:50):
why wait until now to do this. I don't know
how you guys feel about that.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
I have my theory. I don't I don't know how
much which I should elaborate given as sort of a
sensitive topic. But let's just say something happened very very recently.
That may have been the straw broke.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
Well, he said that that was the straw that broke
the Campbell's back. There's no way if answer butts about it.
There's no may about it. He did say that Donald
Trump's comments about the murder of.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
Uh Rob.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Yea was what broke This was the straw that broke
the camel's back. So there's no if ans or butts
about it. That's what did it. But my point is
is that and I don't look. I avoid the news
like a plague because to me, everything on the news
is stupidity. It's beneath me. And I hate to say
(42:52):
that about you know, our government, our everything, but it's
to me, the news is more like a pot cast.
To me, it's a bunch of talking heads out there.
It's pewing stuff about stuff that's happened without actually reporting
the news. They're reporting their opinions.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
So probably would have been camel back for me.
Speaker 2 (43:14):
Yeah. But alls I'm saying is that again, what what
the current administration said about Rob Reiner.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
It was was stupid as hell.
Speaker 2 (43:26):
But this is not anything new. This isn't a long
line of stuff that's stupid as hell. And I'm not
talking really about Donald Trumper the administration because when it
comes to politics, everything that's said pretty much has been
stupid as hell. It's it's playground stuff. I mean it's
for years, you know, That's all I'm saying. Is that?
(43:48):
Why wait until now when stupid as hell has been
going on for quite a while?
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Now, I know what I agree.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
Okay, you're just pixelated like crazy. You can't understand the
word you're saying. Well, you may have to you may
have to reboot. You can't really tell better now on
two words? Okay, Chris, did you have a potpourri?
Speaker 3 (44:15):
I mean just kind of the general New Japan round up,
you know, since they are a a W partner and
not all of the fans, well go in. Hopefully, hopefully
I can wrap it up interesting enough. World Tag League
over Rio, Hey, Olila, I struggle with his name, I apologize,
(44:38):
and Zach Sapertun you have one. Surprisingly, they are taking
their title match at New Year's ash instead of the
Tokyo Dome, which New Japan is currently on the road too,
with shows on the nineteenth, twenty first, and twenty second,
all on New Japan World nineteenth and twenty first Japan
(45:00):
Live commentary English too, twenty second live English commentary from
Chris Child, and then it's onto the Tokyo Dome for
Wrestle Kingdom. That's it.
Speaker 2 (45:13):
Okay. I've got like two or three things and I
want to bring up and I think they're kind of fun. Well,
the first one kind of goes back to what Jess
said Jim Cornett, and I can't believe I'm bringing Jim
Cornett up on this podcast because the guy's a tool.
But he did say regarding Mick Foley, he said that
(45:36):
this is what he well, he didn't say it, he
posted it. I don't think McK foley's on Twitter or
I tag him, but I want to state publicly that
while I've always liked him, he has just become my
favorite person in the world. I wish all the boys
had his backbone and more importantly, his morals, to which
(45:57):
Ricochet responded saying something that a lot of people probably
want to say but are too embarrassed to say. Ricochet responded,
I honestly never thought I'd agree with this loser. I
just thought that was funny.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
You know what they'll say, even a broken clock is
right twice the day.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
There you go, there you go.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
I mean that that's pretty much like General Stan Saloon Pournette.
Eight percent of what he says regarding current wrestling, I ignore,
great historian now, great manager in his day. Respect for that, pharoh,
(46:45):
respect for his opinion on current wrestling, well not zero
but like two percent, you know whatever.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
Yeah, he's the epitome of old man yells its.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
Okay, I agree with anything whatever she just said, because
you're totally I can't understand anything you're saying. Yes. Sorry.
Another thing that came out, but this one was from
Fiteful said that one source at a W told Fifel
(47:22):
they expected Steve Borton Jr. That's Sting's son, to be
under a W contract before long, if he's not already.
So Sting's son, Stephen Steve Borton Junior did perform uh
like on a dark match last week against Kieren Gray
(47:48):
and according to to Uh to to uh, I'm sorry,
but according to Tony Kahan, he just gushed about him.
So that was something that was very very good to hear.
And it would be cool to see to see Steve
Bordon Jr. In AW, possibly as under Darby Allen's wing,
(48:14):
does Darby is the one that's training him.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes like regular
Dark appearances during their residency in Arlington.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
I think they.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
I don't think they live like crazy close, but it's
close enough where he can come up every week for
those shows. So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see him.
So maybe a random TV apparent that'd.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
Be nice, even if it's just a run in and uh,
you know, to save Darby from himself even Yeah, you know,
another interesting topic, and this is something that that I
am really happy about. Well, in the fifty two years
(49:04):
that Tokyo Sports has been giving out their MVP award,
no woman has ever won the award until this year.
Ayakamaani from Stardom is Tokyo Sports MVP. She not only
won the Women's MVP, she won the overall MVP, becoming
(49:29):
the first woman in the fifty two years of that
award to win the award. And that's saying something, especially
in Japan.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
Oh hell yeah, you know, especially when you think of
like back in the seventies and eighties, you know, women's
wrestling in Japan was freaking better than pretty much every
men's promotion. They were doing amazing thing that's coming up
with all sorts of news. The fact that none of
(50:05):
them ever won it, it just makes it that much
more historic, Like you think of who could have won, right,
and the fact that she's the first and it's well earned.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
It really is well earned. I mean, if you don't
know who Saya Kamentani is, she's in the faction called eight,
which is the same faction that Tecla came out of
before she came to AW. She's in. Another name that
you probably would know if you're an AW fan is
(50:40):
Momo Watanabe, who did wrestle against Mercedes Monet last year
for the TBS Championship at a paper. Really can't remember
which one it was off the top of my head,
but she did lose, but it was a really good match. Actually,
I think that was probably one of the first matches
that people at AW took notice and say, hey, this
(51:02):
Mercedes boney chick isn't too bad. And that was brought
out of her by Baba Watanabe. But my point is
is that when you look the big difference between stardom
and a w and stardom in WWE is that Stardom
is a women's only promotion, so that in and of itself,
(51:26):
you know, you don't have to compete against the men
for bringtime. You're going to get your ring time, and
boy do they get their ringtime. Because I looked it
up about a month ago, and at the time that
I looked it up, Tony Storm and Mercedes Monette. If
you added all of their matches in twenty twenty five together,
(51:50):
it came to just over how many matches that Saya
Kamatani had by yourself. So you're looking at, you know,
a woman in Saya Kamatani that's averaging wrestling just under
every like just I mean just over. When I looked
at it, I think it's every three point two days
(52:13):
she has a wrestling match, and that's tough. That is
a lot of wrestling matches. Well, I believe.
Speaker 3 (52:25):
There are a lot of times with the Japanese promotions
it'll be like you could have three matches back to
back to back and then take a day off have
two more like the tours they run. Is saying schedule, really,
you're yeah, it's every three point two, but it's because
(52:45):
you'll wrestle three days, have a day off wrestle, to
have a day off wrestle to you know, have a
day off, wrestle another three and then have like a
week to ten days off. So like when when you
think of that too, it makes how many matches she's
had even that much.
Speaker 2 (53:04):
More right, Yeah, awesome? Yeah, and they have relatively few injuries.
I mean it's not just Syakonatandi that does this. When
you look at Stardom and Marigold and t J p W,
which are the three prominent I would most prominent, I
would say Women's only wrestling promotions. They have a ton
(53:27):
of matches. These were working, they are working, So give
them their flowers, you know, watch them, you know, make
their make their time, and and they're good. And they're
so good. Oh my god, they're good. They're so fun
to watch. The matches are. They're so fun. I'm never disappointed,
(53:48):
which brings me to another prot PORI with Stardom, we
have a uh, they're doing their dream queendom. I want
to I don't have to date right in front of me.
I think it's on the twenty ninth of this month.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Yeah, I think it is right.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
But anyway, on the discord and if you're watching this,
you can see our discord link right there at the
bottom of your screen. On our discord, we have in
the in the actual discord, we have polls for the
Dream Queendom. It's the polls are in the uh Dream
(54:32):
Dream Queendom Stardom channel and it has all the matches
that have been announced thus far. You can vote, and
then what we do is we will publish what everybody thinks.
And it's it's a lot of fun because when it
came to what was the last PvP for aw oh
my God with Full Gear. Yeah, we had the poll,
(54:54):
we had the polls up for Full Gear. We did horrible.
We got destroyed. I think there was nine matches. I
think we got three right. It was just like unbelievable.
Then we had Final Battle. We had polls up for
Final Battle and we we nailed it. We got every
(55:16):
one of them right on the discord. So then we
of course we had we also do ww poles for
the for the NXT and Wwepolis. We will have a
poll up in a few days for Russell Kingdom twenty. Unfortunately,
(55:38):
the polls only can last the backs up of two weeks,
and the Russell Kingdom twenty is on the sixth of January.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
Is that correct?
Speaker 2 (55:46):
The fourth?
Speaker 3 (55:46):
Okay, it was always on January fourth.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Okay, Russell Kingdom is always on January fourth, kind of
like a national holiday, I guess, so two weeks before
January fourth, whichever that is, we will have the Russell
Kingdom cards up and the Russell Kingdom twenty channel on
the discord. You can go and vote and let's just
(56:10):
see how we do. It's a fun way to make
I don't know, it's kind of like a fun way
to make watching the shows more interesting. The other way
it's more interesting is that to make it more interesting
is that once the polls close, we try to close
the polls about an hour to two hours before the
actual event starts. Then, for example, we will have a
(56:33):
World's End poll up once we have more matches for
World's End after the polls close out one to two
hours beforety events start, then that channel becomes a live
chat for that event. And that's always a lot of
fun as well. So it's a great way to meet people,
it's a great way to make new friends, and it's
(56:55):
a great way to make you know, it's kind of
like fantasy football. Watching the NFL. It kind of just
makes it a little bit more interesting. It makes it
a little bit more interesting to watch. Just then you
can see your picks compared to everybody else's picks and whatnot.
So you could gloat if you pick right and everybody
(57:17):
more majority of people pick wrong, you know, So if
you pick an upset and you're right, you can gloate
about it because it's right there in black and white.
Also on the discord we have at aw Awards Channel.
We did our nominations last week and now we have
(57:38):
the pulls up for voting for the aw awards. And again,
this is just a fun little thing that we do
every year. This is the third annual year that we've
done it. There's not there's several categories, but not too
many that you will you know, that will make you
(58:03):
It doesn't take a lot of time. I'll give you
the categories right now. I'm not gonna tell you the
nominees are. You'll have to go and look. But the
categories are the male and female Wrestlers of the Year,
the Faction of the Year, to Tag Team of the Year,
the most improved of the Year, heal and Babyfaces of
the Year, Character work, of the Year. That's it. They're
(58:26):
just fun categories, nothing serious, just getting the vibes from
the community. And there's been several dozen votes already made.
And there's some surprises. I'm not gonna lie to you,
there are some surprises in this, particularly in the heat
(58:47):
of the year. I'm going I don't want to say
who's leading, but I don't know that.
Speaker 3 (58:54):
It's it's a surprise.
Speaker 2 (58:59):
Also, on our discord tomorrow night, while you're watching a
w Dynamite, we have a room set up aw TV
live Chat. You can live chat during the show. We're
trying to make aw fan hubs accessible and make it
(59:22):
give everybody opportunities to help you meet people and enjoy
the shows. That's what it's all about. I really like it.
We had somebody on the aw pant hub subreddit that
is going to the Dynamite tomorrow night, the Dynamite Collision
(59:43):
tomorrow n I don't forget it's a three hour show
tomorrow night. And it was just, you know, he's he
had to go to the show by himself. He doesn't
really know anybody else. It's a wrestling fan. He bought
himself a single ticket and hey, does anybody want to
meet up, you know before the show and talk. It's
a great way to meet friends, you know. So that's
(01:00:06):
what we're about.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
So, uh, that's how I've done. I went to quite
a few aw shows by myself and just hope some
people went line were cool and we're up to talk
about speed.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
The five percent of the time it's worked.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
Yeah. Yeah. I went to a Dynamite last year, a
set next little guy. I went by myself. The sat
next little guy that uh he went by. He came
by himself as well, and we had a blast. You know,
we had a blast. We were just we were completely opposite.
(01:00:47):
He liked people that I didn't like. And you know,
not that I dislike people, you know, because I love everybody,
even Eddie Kingston, but some people because Jess can't defend yourself.
Speaker 5 (01:01:11):
Oh right now at least somebody does.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Not in the chat right now. Yeah. But anyway, like
I said, it's a great way. Look, the community is
all about participation, it really is. The community is all
about participation. Participation. You could say it, I can't say it,
but uh, take take advantage of it. We're open to suggestions.
(01:01:46):
We want to do stuff that you want to do,
you know, and make it fun, and that's what we're
all about here at aw FAN. We're gonna call it
a night. We will not be doing all uh. I'll
lea talk tomorrow night because it's a three hour dynamite
collision block and we're not going to stay away that late.
(01:02:08):
So we will see you again next week Tuesday at
eight forty five Eastern. Join us in the chat and
we're going to be making our picks for UH World's
End and talking about other hot topics at aw UH.
(01:02:29):
But we're gonna be talking about no, no, no, where
did that come from?
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
I thought it was going to be the announcement of
the awards.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Yeah, don't think Chris. That's what my parents. That's what
my parents always used to tell me. Don't think Chris,
which was really upsetting to me because I was like,
who the hell is Chris?
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
Hey, it's it's better than what I had. Don't think
you was a idiot?
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Yeah, you ever heard the expression, you know, children should
be seen and not heard. Yeah, my parents used to say,
if you had another brain, it would be lonesome. They
were cruel people. My parents are cruel, you know. And yeah,
(01:03:22):
I'm talking about your mom and dad, God rest your
soul whatever. I don't know, I don't know. I'm gonna
put my feet up. I got my feet up on
the desk now, and I have a cold cloth across
my forehead and I'm just spewing at this point. All right, So, uh,
(01:03:47):
I think we now know the reason why Jess sounded
so crappy because their battery is dying.
Speaker 6 (01:03:51):
