do also, uh is just tohave a moment of silence for those who
are fallen. No, we lostsome US soldiers on yesterday, and so
(03:05):
and also lost somebody dear to myheart today, and so I just wanted
to take a moment of silence justto honor them, all right, all
right, I did want to letme see, sorry, just wanted to
(03:27):
acknowledge those young people who lost theirlives. I'm so sorry. I had
it pulled up, all right. So there was a Sergeant William J.
(03:53):
Rivers, aged forty six, wholost his life, Specialist Kennedy L's Sanders
twenty four, she was only twentyfour, especially if Brianna Moffatt was twenty
three, and they all were theUS soldiers who were killed. And then
also on today, I lost oneof my former students, very very very
(04:15):
special, special young lady Lily Walker. And so my condoleces to her family,
to all of the Terry ISSD staffmembers and students there anybody that was
impacted by this great, tremendous lossthat we have suffered on today. Well,
let's let's let's get on into thisword. So I just wanted to
(04:42):
talk to you today. We're gonnacome out of Matthew. We're gonna be
reading out of Matthew seven twenty onethrough twenty three. All right, so
it says not everyone who says tome, Lord Lord will enter the kingdom
of heaven, but only he whodoes the will of my Father, who
is in heaven. Many will sayto me on that day, Lord,
(05:05):
Lord, did we not prophesy inyour name and in your name drive out
demons and perform many miracles? ThenI will tell them plainly, I never
knew you away from me, youevil doers. Let's take a word of
prayer. Definitely, Father, Lord. We just thank you Lord for another
day. That was a promise tous God, God. We just asked
(05:27):
that Jesus be with us on thenight. Lord, Jesus, touch our
hearts. Comfort us, God,give us peace, give us understanding.
God. Oh Lord, just letus feel your love and your presence God
on this evening. Lord, Ijust asked that you would just use me.
Lord. I am a willing vessel. Lord. Just anything that you
would have me to say, Lord, flow through my lips. Lord,
help me to decrease in self sothat you may increase the spirit within me.
(05:48):
Lord, and use me and speakto the people in Jesus. Name
a man a man, all right, see any names I can see if
anybody came in, I'm so sorry. If you came in, say what's
up again, because I did notget to shout you out, but stay,
say hello so that I know thatyou're in here, because I sure,
I'm sorry. I just kind ofwent on with it all right,
(06:09):
So listen today today it's been soheavy, just the burden on my heart,
you know. I feel like wewe think we have so much time.
And I was just kind of thinkingtoday after I heard the news,
you know that, and even withthe tragedy with the soldiers, what's up,
(06:31):
bro, what's up? Thank youfor tuning in, Renny Green,
I see you, the Renny Green, Nica, NKA, what's up?
Hey, y'all, Hey, thanky'all so much for joining me. Thank
you for coming in. Please don'tget to share and tag and like and
get mama and everybody else in here. I don't know. I didn't get
to tag anybody or anybody anybody,So I think that's the lag of I
usually let everybody know I'm going on, so let everybody know that we are
(06:53):
on, okay, but it wasmy spirit was just so troubled by the
death. The death today, itreally hurt me, you know, and
I was thinking, so the peopleyesterday there was a forty six year old,
there was a twenty four year oldor twenty three year old, and
(07:15):
then hey cousin, Hey shot seeyou, and then hey januevery thank y'all,
thank y'all so much, thank you. And then the young people today
were twenty and twenty five. Myformer student, she was twenty years old.
And they're gone. They're gone withintwenty four hours. That's five people
(07:41):
under the age of fifty who wouldhave left this earth in the last twenty
four hours. And I was justthinking, like, man, you just
never know when it's gonna be yourtime. You know, you never know
when God is gonna call you home. You know, we think that we
(08:03):
have all this time to get ready. We just we plan for a day
after day, we plan week afterweek, we plan months in advance.
I've planned and paid for to goon a cruise in a couple of months.
You know, I know where we'reworking on the tour, like we're
making all these plans and tomorrow isjust not promised to us. And so
(08:26):
I just think it's important that wereflect, we take time out. You
know that scripture that I just readto you. Everybody just says, Lord
Lord, it's not going to enterin. And so we got to look
at that and say, well, who is that talking about. Because if
they're saying, Lord Lord, anddidn't I prophesy in your name, didn't
(08:48):
I drive out demons in your name? All right? And so these are
people who are doing things in thename of Jesus that are saying Lord Lord,
and He's saying, away from me, you evildoers. Right. We
know we were there. We havea lot of false prophets out here.
But God was just dealing with me, and he was just saying, you
(09:11):
know, we think you think timeis on your side, you know.
And I was like, man, like, we just were out here just
taking life for granted every day.You know, God, when will you
stop? When will you stop? When will you stop taking life for granted?
You know? That's what God wassaying to me, you know.
So I'm posing that question to youall, When will you stop taking life
(09:33):
for granted? Every day? Everyday the Lord allows us to wake up,
He graces us, he gives ushis grace and his mercy. Thank
you God for your grace and yourmercy. Right if it had not been
for his grace and his mercy.I know, Lord Jesus, some situations
I'd have been in, but God'sgrace and mercy kept me, you know.
(09:54):
And so think about if you wereone of those people, one of
those young people in the last twentyfour hours and you're not going to get
to see your next tomorrow, wouldyou be ready? Would you would you
do? You know right now inyour heart and in your mind? Uh
(10:16):
that if God called you home rightnow without a shadow of doubt, you
know where you're going. And ifnot, then that's what this Bible study
is for. To uh Hey,Coach James, thanks so much for tuning
in just to encourage us to takea look in the mirror, to evaluate
ourselves. To ask God, youknow, search my heart. And then
(10:37):
if you find, when you findthings that are not like you show them,
you know, ask God to showyou, you show you the areas
that He's not pleased with so hecan work on those things. Right.
Because like we talked about last week, I told you we're going to pick
up with that talking about having apurpose. Right, God has a plan
for your life. If you know, God has a plan for your life,
(10:58):
and you know what that plan isyou know your purpose, you know,
give me some fire emotions, becausenot a lot of people know their
purpose what God has for them.So if you know that, let me
see some fire emotions. If yousay, I know the purpose God has
for me, and I'm walking inthat purpose, and I'm seeking Him for
that purpose, you know you havean idea because some of us don't have
(11:20):
a clue. But we need toknow and rest assured that God does have
a plan. Right. Jeremiah twentynine to eleven says that for I know
the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, right, plans
to prosper you, to give youa hope and a future. Let me
see. I'm you know, Iknow I don't like to jack my way
(11:41):
up. Let me see Jeremiah twentynine. Here it is all right.
So it says, for I knowthe plans I have for you. Remember
this is the NIV version, right, So this is not King James version.
So this is the NIV. Okay, So it's because I think the
King James says, I know thethoughts that I think towards you. But
(12:01):
here it says, for I knowthe plans I have for you, declares
the Lord plans to prosper you andnot to harm you. Plans to give
you a give you hope and afuture. So God has told us right
there that he has a plan forus. Over in Ephesians, to intend
(12:22):
it says, for we are God'shandi work, right, So we're God's
handiwork created in Christ Jesus to dogood works which He prepared for us in
advance to do so, to dogood words that God is already prepared in
advance for us to do. Okay. So that's why I just want us
to all know and understand that rightthese are I know I'm trying to keep
(12:46):
it simple, but get you toget a grasp on that God has a
plan for you. God has aplan for your life. Okay. And
not only does God have a playingfor you and God has a plan for
your life, Satan has a planfor you. And Satan has a plan
for your life. So we readJeremiah, we read Ephesians. We know
(13:09):
that God has a plan, thatHe's already a dame before the creation of
the earth. He knew you beforehe formed you in your mother's womb.
And then he also told us whatabout Sadan, that he would prowl around
like a lion looking who's for whohe can devour. You know, the
devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Right, So while God
(13:31):
has his plan for you, theenemy has a plan as well, and
so we have to be aware ofthat. We have to be aware when
we're making decisions. Hey, Rachel, how you doing. When we're making
decisions and uh, the ending,we have to be be sober and be
alert of the tricks of the Andremember the Bible supposed to be aware of
(13:54):
the schemes and the wiles of thedevil. Right, So he's trying to
trick us, So we have tobe aware of that. The devil is
not gonna send us a package that'sundesirable to try to destroy us, right,
He's gonna send us something that isthat he feels like we desire,
something that's attractive, that's appealing tous, to try to get us off
(14:20):
course. Right. So when hesends you that fine good looking man,
he looking real good and he's smellingreal good, like Mailvin in the play
Don't get to go get your ticketsfor Hidding Justice Find finale April six,
Okay, But when that God comesand in the spirit of the Lord will
let you know if it's right,if it's wrong. Right, But we
(14:43):
have to have wisdom, and wehave to have discernment, and we have
to be obedient, right. Youknow when the scripture says obedience is better
than sacrifice, or even this obedientchild will show in your days, right,
because when we do that, we'reourselves at risk. When we're being
disobedient. If God is putting ussomething in your spirit to tell you like
(15:07):
that, don't don't date that guy, but you gonna date him anyways,
right. And you know, ifyou're really seeking the Lord and you're really
trying to live for the Lord, you know when it's right and when it's
wrong. Right, Because anything thatGod sends you is gonna draw you closer
to Him. It's gonna make youstronger in him. It's something that's gonna
(15:28):
build you up. God is notgonna send you something to distract you.
God is not gonna send you somethingto take you away from Him. Right.
Anything that pulls you away from Christis a distraction. And the enemy
is a master at sinding distractions. And when you start being able to identify
(15:50):
he started using different tactics and comingin you because he's cunning and deceitful,
right, and when he see thatyou to figure out something, he'll come
through another door. And that's whywe're supposed to make sure we're vigilant,
were watchful, right. And soI'm just imploring people to take a look
at their lives because we're supposed toour purpose. What we're doing is supposed
(16:14):
to be living to bring God glory. Is what you're doing bringing God glory
right, no matter what it is. It doesn't matter what it is if
you if you're singing for the Lord, a teaching, a preacher for the
Lord, or if you're a nurseor you're a doctor, you're taking care
of God's people. Doesn't matter ifyou're a teacher, you're educating people,
(16:37):
if you're a plumber, and youmaking sure that everybody can do we handle
their business at the house like theyneed to, no matter what it is,
we ought to be doing. Thatis into the glory of God.
Having integrity in our business and theway we're doing things. Make sure we're
always on the right side of rightright, and so as we we live
(17:00):
our lives for the glory of God. If you don't know your purpose,
I believe he will begin to revealit. I think you have to seek
God. You have to get closeto God for you to be able to
know your God given purpose. Right. So, if so, I'm encouraging
anybody that's listening, anybody that tunesin, you catch this. This is
what I'm encouraging. You start doingthe small things right. If you're not
(17:26):
doing anything, if you're a personyou're saying like, man, I just
ain't really living for Jesus, orI don't feel like I'm getting close to
Jesus, or whatever the case maybe, start doing small things right.
So you could say, oh,I'm gonna set along my phone and every
night at ten o'clock is gonna gooff. I'm gonna read a scripture every
night. Set that alone on yourphone. Every night, my long go
(17:47):
off at ten o'clock. I'm gonnaread this scripture. You know, say
that at a time that's convenient, because sometimes it's hard to start sacrificing right
off the back. So it'll makeit easier. I'm telling you some taxes,
things that I've done myself, Okay, so I would know that.
Okay, every night by ten pointthirty, I'm definitely in the bed right,
I'm not doing anything else, soI'm gonna set the alarm so I
(18:10):
can make sure that at ten o'clockor whatever, I'm going to read the
scripture before I go to bed, right, or set times that you can
pray and talk to God right untilyou start talking to them all day,
but you can stand time like okaybefore I get out the bed, because
I know now old school people usedto stay on their knees and tarry,
(18:33):
but young people they pray however, laying on their back or sleep side or
whatever. You know. So Iwould just say, when you wake up
in the morning, before you evenget out of bed, tell Lord thank
you, because think about that, like that's just having gratitude for Lord,
thank you for waking me up thismorning. You probably be amazing how many
(18:53):
people probably wake up in the morningdon't have to tell God thank you.
But it's a lot of people thathe didn't wake up in the morning.
And I guarantee you if they wouldhave got to wake up, they'd been
saying thank you, but they didn'twake up. And so if God allowed
us to wake up, the leastwe could do is say thank you,
(19:15):
Lord, thank you for waking meup. Let me see another day.
Lord, be with me through thisday. Lead me and guide me.
Let me see your hand, Showme who you would have me to help,
Show me who you have me topray for. So I'll talk you
to the Lord and building that bond, building that relationship with God, because
that's what it's about. At theend of the day. All these people
(19:36):
in Matthew were saying that these peopleare gonna be saying, Lord, Lord
did not do all of that. These are people that's caught up in religion.
But we need to be focused onour relationship because when you have a
relationship with God, he gonna leadsyou and guide you. When you sincere
with the Lord and you're surrendering tohim and you're seeking him. What the
(19:59):
scriptures ask, Let me see,Oh, look look at God, I'm
right here on it. Ask andit will be given to you. Seek
and you will find. Knock andthe door will be open to you.
For everyone who asks receives, hewho seeks finds, and to him who
knocks, the door will be open. Right, So if we pursue God,
(20:26):
pursue him with your whole heart.I remember, right, I was
begging for the Holy Spirit, beggingfor the Holy Spirit, like Lord,
please leave me, come into menow. It was begging for the gift
of tongues because I felt like that, because that was I believe that was
the evidence of the spirit. Butyou know if you got the spirit or
(20:48):
not, because if you have thehold of spirit, he will lead you
and you won't do the same thingsthat you used to do. Right.
You know when it's you and whenit's the Lord, right, because times
out of ten you flesh, Soten times out of ten, ten times
out of ten, your flesh isgonna go against what the spirit wants.
Right. So when you're when you'redoing something and you're not sure if God
(21:11):
is pleased with it, just sitstill and ask God. And whatever that
answer is, you don't know ifit's God, because it's gonna most time
be opposite of what it is thatyou will hate your mail. Thank you
for joining in, but it's gonnabe opposite of that of what your desire.
That's how you know it's Lord, because that flesh is gonna be want
(21:32):
something different than what the spirit isgonna be wanting. Right. But the
God has sent us the Holy Spiritas a comfortable So who can tell me
what the Holy Spirit is? Typeit in for me. Who is the
Holy Spirit? Anybody who is theholdest spirit? We say, when you
(21:53):
think of the Holy Spirit, howwould you describe the Holy Spirit? Who
is the Holy Spirit? If somebodysaid, what is that? The Holy
Spirit? Who? Yah, y'allchurch to talk about the Holy Spirit?
What is that? How would youwho can explain that to me? What
would you say? The Spirit ofGod? Good? Good? Okay,
(22:15):
yep, the Spirit of God.He is our comforter. Good Hey,
ain't, Lisa, thank you somuch for getting on. He is our
comforter, jamail, the third personof the Trinity, the third person of
the Trinity, Jesus up on highLord. Yeah, that's right. This
(22:37):
Jesus is a comforter. Yes heis. Yes, he is. Thank
y'all so much. I love thefeedback. I love the feedback. So
uh, you guys are so right. All of those things that you said
about the Holy Spirit. It is. It is God, God, God,
(23:02):
right. God is three persons inone, the Father, the third
person of the Trinity, the comforter. Very good. That's right. That's
right. Then. The scripture tellsus that he said that he would send
us comfort he was going away, but he would send us comforter. So
it is it's God in three personswant the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit, says God becamea man in Jesus, right, So
(23:26):
he became a man in Jesus sothat he would be able to go and
bear go, take our sins tothe cross, be able to bear that
for us, so that we willbe able to be saved. Right,
So he came Jesus so that Jesuscould die on the cross for our sins.
Jesus rose from the dead and tooffer salvation to all people, not
some people, all people. Salvationis offered to all people. We have
(23:48):
to choose our salvation, all right. And so through spiritual renewal and rebirth,
we're able to receive salvation of jeesChrist. And when jesuscended into the
heaven, his physical prayers left theearth, but he promised to send the
Holy Spirit so that his spiritual presencewill still be among mankind. All right,
Hey, ain't marian? Thank youso much for joining in. Thank
(24:11):
you for joining us, all right? And so we know that throughout scripture,
we know the Holy Spirit has empoweredspecific individuals for specific purposes. Right,
So when we're having the end dwellingof the Holy Spirit, we talked
about last week that it was aseal. Does anybody remember that from last
week we talked about the Holy Spiritbeing a seal? Or here let me
(24:34):
read for you real quick second.Corinthians one and twenty two says that he
set his seal of ownership on usand put his spirit in our hearts as
a deposit guaranteeing what is to come. All right, And so God has
sent his Holy Spirit to empower usin our purpose. So we need to
(25:00):
be seeking. I know so manypeople. Some people don't believe in the
Holy Spirit. They don't believe inspeaking in tongues, they don't believe in
these things. And you know, and if it blows my mind, how
we can believe some of the Biblebut not all of it. You know
when people debate and their Bible believers, but they don't believe things that are
in the Bible. But we haveto have the Holy Spirit. That's right.
(25:22):
The Holy Spirit guides us into alltruth that's right. Right, And
as we're reading the Word, that'show we know we're being taught. It
teaches us the Holy Spirit does right, So we know it's a teacher,
it's a comforter, right, it'sour lead, our guide. And so
I implore you to seek the HolySpirit. For those of you who know
(25:45):
or believe that you're not feeled withthe Holy Spirit, you don't have the
Holy ghost. You need the Holyghosts. Why do you need the Holy
ghost? Because that is the seal, the seal of ownership that you belong
to God. Right, we wantto belong to God. We don't want
to be in that number that's sayingLord Lord. Right. Not everyone who
(26:11):
says to me, Lord Lord willenter the Kingdom of heaven. Who won't
enter? Those people who saying LordLord, but don't have the Holy Spirit
don't have a seal of ownership, right. And so I'm just re imploring
(26:33):
those people who are seeking the truthto talk to God. Right, even
if you are, if you hearmy voice and you don't believe in Jesus
Christ, whatever you believe it in, talk to God and say God,
reveal yourself to me, reveal thetruth with a sincere heart. Don't be
so stubborn minded that you got abooter. You ain't got a call out.
Say Lord God, God, revealyourself to me. Reveal the truth
(27:00):
me so that I will know truth. The truth will set you free.
Some people are stiff necked, andthe and the hearts. Oh, it's
a scripture. There's a scripture aboutthe Lord will turn them over into a
reprobated mind. Do anybody know whatthat scripture is? It's a scripture about
(27:21):
God? Did it? Will?God turned them over to a reprobated mind.
I'm so sorry. I just thoughtabout it. But let me see.
(27:41):
Okay, yep, here it is. Okay, romans. I'm sorry
that Romans one in twenty five.Okay, Romans one in twenty five.
Well, no, no, I'mtwenty four. Let me see. I'm
(28:06):
sorry Romas one and twenty four.Okay. Therefore, God gave them over
in the sinful desires of their heartsto sexual impurity for the degrading of their
bodies with one another. They exchangedthe truth of God for a lie,
and worshiped and served created things ratherthan the Creator, who is forever praised
(28:30):
Amen. Because of this, Godgave them over to shameful lusts. Even
their women exchanged natural relations for unnaturalones. In the same way, the
men also abandoned natural relations with womenand were inflamed with lust for one another.
Men committed indecent acts with other menand received in themselves the due penalty
(28:56):
for their perversion. Furthermore, sincethey did not think it worthwhile to retain
the knowledge of God, he gavethem over to a depraved mind to do
what ought not to be done. All right, So that's the n I
V. Version. I believe theOld Testament says a reprobated mind, which
(29:18):
just pretty much means that they whocan tell me what a reparated mind is?
What is a reparated mind. It'slike a person who just has no
moral moral uh, just no badmorals. That's what I would say.
(29:41):
What anybody on here can or ifyou can tell me what is a reparated
mind? But God will give themover into this mind? Right, And
so those of you, if you, if you're being hard headed and you
just you don't even want to takea look at it. God is calling
you. God is tugging at yourheart. You just want to do what
you want to do. You're gonnalive like how you want to live.
You wanna be stiff nicknack. There. It is saying that God will no
(30:02):
moral conscious, Thank you, Icouldn't think of the word no moral conscious.
Yeah, do any and everything. That's when you hear about people,
you be like what the unbelievable stufflike you just couldn't even believe that.
Right, So we want to becareful that when we're serving God, we're
serving the Lord, that it isnot in vain right, if I hear
people that our time, if I'mgonna go to head, I will gone
(30:26):
up with vasline what's gasoline draws onor something like that, you know,
like go out party it, goout with a bang. If you if
you're just gonna gone go to hell, Let's not sit up in the church
and pretend and the misheaven right, because what will be the purpose of that?
If we sitting up in church. We need to be trying to get
it right. We need to beconfessed and repenting, seeking help, seeking
(30:47):
counsel, guidance, spiritual counsel.Right, if you don't have a spiritual
leader, you know, go firstclass, that's right. Go if you're
gonna go gone in the club.If I decide, oh I help and
I'm not I don't mean to makeheavy my home and I'm gonna go and
do what I want to do.I'm God do what I want to do.
I'm gonna do it deep, I'mnot go do it tomorrow. But
(31:10):
I don't want to go to here. No, no, okay, because
the ain't no water down there,no ice, no tea, no live
money. That's right. I'm notgoing to here because I've been saved,
Thank you Jesus, by the graceof God, Thank you. And I
received my salvation right, and Istrive every day. I strive to live
(31:33):
a life that's pleasing to the Lord. Do I do weapos do every day?
Am I obedient every day? No? But I be striving, and
I recognize and I acknowledge where Ifall short, and I talk to the
Lord. I fast, I pray. You know, I am moving forward,
and I'm by God's grace right throughfaith that we're saved. Right,
(32:00):
but faith without works is dead.Right by grace, through faith, we're
saved. So we have to havethe faith that God is who he is.
But faith with our works is dead. So because I have faith,
I'm gonna work to show my faith. I'm gonna work for the Lord.
I'm gonna serve the Lord while thewarm blood is warning running warm in my
(32:24):
veins? Is that with the soundright to say? Right? So those
of you who uh you know youknow you need to get right with the
Lord, get right, hashshake,Thank you for tuning in right whatever we
like. I told y'all last week, it's never too late. Repent,
turn around right, clean up whatyou got to clean up? What I
missed the day started my life.Oh look, y'all remember that song.
(32:51):
Y'all know I'm not a singer.I made up my mind. I ain't
lying no more because I lie inthe cheetah can't make it through dug.
Okay, I'm gonna stop. Thoseof you who feel like got do.
Let's do better, y'all. Rememberthat song we're bringing that I gotta clean
(33:12):
up? Yes, I do,y'all what I missed him? All right,
y'all listen, This guy that I'mgonna bring in right now, coming
to you, guys, is anaward winning celebrity radio personality, an author,
and a motivational speaker. He wasborn weighing only eight ounces y'all imagine
(33:36):
eight ounces, okay, eight anceers. That's a cup of water, all
right, and he was brain deadat five months Okay, I mean he
was born five months. He wasthe eight ounces in brain Dead. He
was brain dead for nine hours. All right. He also has cerebral palsy
and polio. All right, welcometo the stage, none other than Doc
(34:00):
Lewis. Welcome to me and y'all. Hello everybody, how y'all doing.
Thank you so much for having meright here on the great show. Yes,
yes, yes, thank you somuch for joining me. Thank you.
I am so excited about having youon tonight. Is you can you
are you? Are you on aphone or a computer. I'm on my
(34:20):
phone. Can you hear me?Yes? Can you turn it landscape for
me? Like that? You comeone more time? One more time?
Okay, maybe I need to doit the other way here. I'm so
sorry? Is that? Just haveit go back how you were? I'm
so sorry. Okay, all right, there you go? All right,
(34:45):
all right, go ahead, allright, So go ahead and introduce yourself
to my audience and tell us alittle bit about your story. Hey,
audience, Hey, I'm doctor Lewis. As customary, I would always say,
be love. I wish above allthings that you may prosper and being
helped even as your soul made prosperI'm from Gonzales, Louisianna. That's right.
I'm from the South, So thatmeans I love red beans. I
(35:07):
love rice. Born into a familyof sports, man, I tell you
my sisters and brothers, Uh,they just was there. My grandmother raised
us and my mother, uh youknow, she was there. And it's
amazing because you know, Gonzales isthe liberty town southeast Bandon Rouge and between
(35:31):
Bandon Rouge and New Orleans, andso growing up there and doing what I
do, man, uh, youknow, hospital stage and all of that.
I got into radio at the ageof seven years old. So I
have a you know, extended brothersand sisters. But I have you know
(35:52):
that it was four brothers, actuallyfour siblings that that I stayed with,
you know, plus me. Thatmake five and we're all stayed in this
little bitty house on Toby Street andGod's Louis. And you know sports wasn't
on for my family, and youknow, me being born away I was
(36:16):
born, my grandmother went downstairs andprayed nine hours and God did the work.
Hey man, And I tell youlike this here in two thousand and
eight, if I if I speedit up a little bit. In two
thousand and eight, my mother calledme and she prophesied over her own son.
(36:38):
He just ran it down and say, look, he was born brain
dead. You fight. You knowfive months, eight ounces your brain was
dead nine hours. You have cerebralpalsy in polio especialty person, and no
one in the world gonna believe yourstory. You're gonna go eat dinner with
(36:59):
presidents, gonna travel around the world, and you're gonna write books, and
you're going to be a motivational speaker, and you're gonna win awards in radio.
And I'm like, wow, wantshe telling you that in two thousand
and eight? Two thousand and eightand me, and then she passed away
(37:20):
the very next day. Oh,I'm sorry to hear that. And uh.
Two years later, I found myselfgetting off the plane in Austria and
all these countries and eating dinner withpresidents of countries and I'm like, wow,
it's dawn on me. Then satdown in my room and started to
(37:42):
pin my book and I'm like wow, wow, all of this my mother
said, because it's crazy. See, people don't realize the Bible said these
words that he take the foolish thingsto confound wise things that we thought was
foolish. People think that, especiallythese kids are folks with the disability,
(38:07):
are foolish. But the talent thatGod gives them come here simplify the gifting
that God is the good God,the gifting that God gave me. He
annoy me when I came out, before I came out of the room,
(38:28):
and he anning me with radio. Now get this God, how can you
put somebody in radio at seven yearsold and they couldn't even speak. Wow.
A gentleman named La Boudreau was workingfor KKXX one O four point nine
in Louisana and he came in theneighborhood. He was a baseball coach,
a radio personality, and he askedmy grandmother, could I take your grandson
(38:55):
to the football games that I'm broadcasting? Since in high school football games I'm
broadcasting, He's gonna be with mein the boot. And I'm like,
man, I can't even talk.I was scared of proud I was because
I walked different, talked different, couldn't talk. I was scared of people.
(39:15):
But he trained me. See whatGod does. God put peoples in
your life for a season, fora reason, and he put people in
your life for a long term andlong jeopardy. Uh Lyle came into my
life at the right time. Yes, I was had a cast on my
(39:37):
left leg and I stayed in thehospital all that time, going through surgeries
and all that body cast and everything. It's difficult the process. I hated
the process, but Lyle said,I want you to go with me,
and my grandmother said, if youtake care of him, I would let
(39:59):
you go. In end up givingme a vocal coach, getting me a
speech therapist, all of these thingsthat helped me along the way to get
where I'm at now. And myfamily played a part. My brothers and
sisters are my oldest sister Christine,my old other sister mail Hot, my
(40:22):
other my oldest brother Vincent, myother brother uh Darren, and my twin
sister Karen. They all played apart. My sister would tell me every
day you're gonna be successful. Howis your day at school? Yes,
how is the day? Because Ihad a one point two And when people
(40:46):
have a one point too, peoplelook at your difference. They look at
you like, well, you knowwhat you're done. You're stupid, you
cannot succeed. You can't be successfulyour grades and not there. But were
you? Were you in the generalpopulation or I was in the special need
(41:07):
population. I'm not saying to sayit. I was in special need population.
I wrote the little bitty buss.I did all that. Yeah,
all right. I had in mymind. I was telling folks this.
You know, one day I'm gonnabe a celebrity. One day I'm gonna
be a radio I'm gonna be aradio personality. And and they laughed.
(41:30):
But what I was doing, Iwas. I was coming home and getting
in the mirror and practicing my craWow, and God gave me the scripture.
Faith is the sustance of things hopedfor the evidence of things not seeing.
(41:51):
Nobody seen it, but God's seenit. All I had to do
is have faith as a grain ofa mustard sea, to believe in me
and to believe in God that Godcan do it. Because see a lot
of times when we believe in otherfolks for our clarity, we want other
folks to give validation, they mightnot give the validation. I can't give
(42:16):
the validation that God can give you, because when God put his stuff on
it, no man can take itaway from it. So I ask God.
That's why the Bible said when youspeak, you need to ask God.
I ask God, Lord, Iwant to be the best radio personality
(42:37):
in the world. I want to, but I just don't want to be
a radio personality. Lord, butI want to be saved. Wow.
And when he said me in nineteeneighty nine, See, even though I
(42:57):
had a handicap, I still needto be saved. Amen, because I
was born in sin, shaved andiniquity. I needed to still be saved.
And with that man God, thatopen up so many doors. The
process was hard. You know, people don't understand that. You know,
when you get called retarded in allthese names and you go and you hear
(43:22):
that every day in school and lookat those folks over there, they're special
kids. And all I was doing, my sisters and brothers, they was
telling me, don't worry about that, do this, do this. You're
gonna be successful. Yeah, you'regonna be successful. Hold on to your
(43:42):
faith, hold on to God.Don't worry about what they say. We
love you. See I tell peoplethis, I am made in the image
of God. Amen. I'm notmade in the image of man. Because
if I was made in the imageof man. Man would have made me
(44:04):
different. He would have went backand made me again because he wouldn't have
liked me being aouncers. You bettercome here to preach now. But because
God said I made you're made inmy image, I don't have to go
back and do another work on you. I want to do just the way
you are. Because I'm doing now, I'm touching lives all over the world.
(44:29):
Yes, be's in need. Folks, Yes that don't have handicaps,
Folks that think they can't make it. I tell them, like to see
it. If you don't believe inmiracles, you haven't met me, and
you haven't met my God. BecauseGod can take whatever the little bitty thing.
See, we go to this floor. The reason why I go through
a thristore is because I want tosee what somebody left that I might can
(44:52):
use. The point in that isGod, well, let you hang out
on the shelf until He get readyto use you. Nobody can't buy you.
Nobody can't buy you. Overlook you, overlook you. They can't even
(45:13):
overlook you. I just don't seeyou. You're setting the way you're sitting
there. See gifting. When youhave a gift, God will hide himself
until he's ready to show up.And he's making you. He's molding you,
he's humbling you. And when youcome out, that's why he says,
(45:37):
you come out as peers gold. That's why you come out because when
God brings you out, you lookgood, your brand new. You're renewed
every day in your mind. Andradio was just I'm like, man,
but what God might have done?Radio have or increasing? He brought in
(46:05):
a whole lot because of radio, because of God gifting in me. It's
awesome. Yes that I had agreat mother and father and grandmother and uncles.
I tell this story all the time. My uncle Adam, he was
He went to Texas Southern University andwhen he would come home, I had
(46:30):
to lift weights and I hated theprocess. I hated that. I'm like,
oh, man, I hope myuncle don't have to come home this
week. I don't want to liftweights. But in doing all of that,
it helped me get stronger. Ithelped me not only get stronger in
my mind, but my uncle talkedto me. He told me, say,
(46:52):
you know, you can be whateveryou want to be if you want
to play sports. Because it washard, Yeah, you know, I'm
playing sports, embraces on the leftleg, I'm wearing a corrected shoe on
the right leg, embraces on theleft leg. And little kids would laugh
(47:14):
at you and do all of that. But I kept my faith. I
kept going home, and I keptyou know, talking to my family,
and they kept on encouraging me andmy friends. So what age would you
say where you were when you startedreally realizing who God was? I probably
(47:38):
that came in when I was reallyreally I was an adult, really yeah
knowing, I would say, yeah, about twenty. I was about twenty,
you know, around Yeah, Iwas out of high school and in
college when I start realizing, hey, this is what I really want to
(48:02):
do. I was doing still,I was doing radio, but you know
I was there like, okay, radio is now I've been in this thing
since nineteen seventy five and now it'snineteen eighty eight and all that, and
I'm introducing ll KOOJ and all thesebig time rappers and all that, because
(48:25):
you do that in radio. Butmy spiritual life, I thank God for
my wife, who was my youthpastor. And I tell this third,
I said, we lived next doorin We was in Bakersfield, and we
lived next door to church, andI'm like, man, I don't want
(48:47):
them pastors coming over to my house. And my wife said, well let
me show you. Then you sayyou want to be a minister a preach
the gods for a pastor, Isaid, yeah, but I don't have
to have them come to my houseand say. She showed me a scripture
that I hadn't seen. You gotto be full of hospitality. And when
(49:10):
I seen that scripture, I said, hell Richard Neil, which is the
late father of a NFL football star, Lorenzo Nil, I said, let
them all come. Yeah, theyall the pastors can come. Say sure
enough. And that was a blessingbecause I began to be a pastor's um
a barrow, and that is ablessing to take care the man of God.
(49:37):
Because when the Man of God,you know, he needs somebody to
speak, he's gonna call you.So I fixed windows, We did all
of that, clean bathrooms and allof that in the church and on the
usherboard and sing in the choir anddid all that. I believe I was
the first African American in Bakersfield toheadline UH Bobby Jones Gospel Gospel. The
(50:06):
California Gospel explosedon back in nineteen ninetyfive. Oh wow, and and and
let me tell you how God workedwith that. Uh, the late great
songwriter Vernion Chapel uh was bringing Theywere all bringing Bobby Jones to LA for
the first time to do that hisshow, Bobby Jones Gospel. And if
(50:30):
you wanted to get on the show, the Morning Show, you know,
you send your video tape in andall that. And my video tape got
lost and they never got it.But because I was praying and fastened,
and I said, Lord, Iwant to go, I said this.
I said, well, Lord, the whinings uh dinning dining was young.
(50:52):
I said, all them Andre Crossand all them folks, they can go
on there. How come I can'tgo on there? I question, is
you know I'm saying? And youknow and uh man morening. Before we
get out here, the Lord said, uh. He spoke back to me.
(51:12):
He said, you're gonna get aphone call in five minutes from the
producer. Lord Princeton called me infive minutes. My phone rung. I
don't know how they got my phonenumber. She said, uh, we
don't have your tape. What isit that you want to do or can
you sing? So they picked asong for me, and let me tell
you how good God is. Ourchoir was already rehearsing, and I was
(51:37):
already learning the songs. Jesus wouldmake a Way by uh Pastor John Peakey
and new like choir end up endup singing that towed them over the phone.
He said, now that's good. Now we need a testimony that is
a miracle. You didn't. Wedon't need it that you got your leg
broke and and you went to therapy. I said, I was born brain
(52:01):
dead five months eight ouncers that versusmy brain was there nine hours. Before
I even got into the rest ofit. Lois said, look, you
on the show. I just threwevery takeaway. This is what we're gonna
do. We're gonna do a specialtribute to doctor Jones and we're gonna bring
(52:22):
you up and you're gonna sing thatsong Jesus will make Away by John Peakey.
And when it aired on National TV, I'll be honest if a fleet
my brother sing it in the Louisianaand my hometown went crazy. I had
to get on the plane and getto Louisiana to Minister that next week,
(52:45):
and then that's where God started openingdoors. I start traveling everywhere. I
mean from Japan to London, everywhere. I'll be w Austria, all over
the world. And what you say, Jesus will make away, he will
make away here a little bit ofthat what you got for? And uh,
(53:06):
I ain't told that song, meanwhat thirty something years thirty? So
you ain't gonna give us a littlebits. You ain't gotta give a little
bit of that one. You giveus a little bit of another one.
We want to We'll give you alittle bit of This question is will I
I haven't believe you the answer.No. Oh yeah, we never need
(53:30):
We'll never leave, all right, all right, So what would you say
was the Did you have any pivotalturning points in your life where it was
like, you know, you werefeeling like I got maybe in a dark
place or you Yeah. Yeah,I was eight years I think it was
(53:51):
eight years old. Yeah, Ijust came from school and folks were talking
talking about me and all of that, and he like came in. I
got in my bedroom and my sisterdid not I didn't see her that day.
And I got in the bedroom,I said, man, I'm tired
of people called me these names.I'm gonna commit suicide right here. I
(54:15):
got the hanger and framed the hanger, put it on the door, and
getting ready to do it. Mysister walks in the room and she said,
hey, you don't have to dothat. What youre doing? I
said, I'm getting ready to anypeople, and I'm tired of folks calling
me and cripple on all these namesand retarded and all that. She said,
no, you don't have to dothat, because God is gonna bless
(54:38):
you later. You're gonna be ablessing to them same folks. And when
she told me that, put thehanger down, and that was the pivotal
point right there. I don't haveto do this. And because I didn't
do that, man, those samefolks that I've been talking to all the
(55:00):
time, all these years, uhhave been a blessing. That was a
blessing, a biblical point in mylife. I thank God that that my
mind didn't listen to my mind.Yes, thank you Lord, that God
will sin. When he said yousind a ram in the bush. Sometimes
(55:21):
that ram is your own family member, and they're the ones that can help
you because you're listening to them, and I think and right there was a
biblical point. Right, there wasthe pressure point to say, hey,
I can do this, I canreally be who I am. Yes,
(55:43):
I want two things before we go. So One, what would you say
to other young people or even olderpeople that have disability? What words of
encouragement would you give them on thisevening? This is what I would tell
you. If you don't get outof the wheelchair. If if you don't,
if you're not able to walk,if you can't talk straight, if
(56:05):
you can't, if you can't donone of that, you still can be
successful. Even in the wheelchair.I have to learn how to be successful,
even laying in the hospital two anda half years, three years,
I have to learn how to dothings. So if you never get out
of the wheelchair, I talk tokids all the time all around the world,
(56:27):
and adults and all of that.If you never get out of the
wheelchair, you have CP. Evenif you don't have a handicap, you
still can be successful. Your lifedon't stop because you are limited. My
life don't stop because I'm limited withmy left hand. Amen. My life
(56:49):
begins because I'm in Christ. Amen. Amen. And so That's what I
would tell them. That's what Itell them. Don't ever give up,
don't ever give up, don't evergive up. It's the devil's job to
tell me I ain't no good,But it's my job to tell him I'm
good, because God say I'm good. He's the father of all eyes.
(57:12):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, that'swhat I would tell him. Amen,
what would you share and tell theloved ones? Because I see that what
an impact your surroundings, your yoursiblings, your mother, your father,
the people that were in your lifehad So what would you tell those people,
like people that are the family membersof people with special needs? How
(57:35):
would you encourage them giving this adviceon how to build up and help their
loved ones. Well, this iswhat I tell I tell I would tell
them because we have a foundation calledthe Doc Lord's Foundation where we help families
with kids with special needs. Nowwhat I tell them, I go in
and tell them, Look, they'regonna it's gonna take a lot of love.
(57:55):
One thing about specially need kids. And I used to do this too.
Uh, we pout because we don'twant to go to the hospital,
We don't want to go to apartments. I just throw tenter tangems. So
be ready for that. And allyou got to do is give them attention.
A lot of times, especially needkids. We won't, we won't
(58:15):
what we want right now, mand that is a person with autism,
as a person with CP all thatwe got to have it right then.
And the parents got to understand. They got to know how to I plain
them to go in and use theword no as a positive word, because
(58:37):
you got to understand that when yousay no, you got to know how
to say it at the right time. And that's what That's what I tell
them. Okay, that's awesome, that's awesome. Well listen, tell people
where they can find you, wherethey can find your books and the book
you They can get this book righthere, it's on It's available on design.
